POSTGAME ... Saturday Morning Quarterback ...Top-ranked Los Altos goes down, Duarte-Gladstone ends in brawl

Above: This taken from a spectator when fight breaks out between Gladstone and Duarte. I'll have a different thread on this incident later this weekend.

Above: Duarte's Desmond Hayes eludes a defender during Falcons 34-3 win
Friday's results
Duarte 34, Gladstone 3 -- I'll explain this later, game ends in brawl with 3:28 left. Chris Harris look great though, rushing for 215 yards and three touchdowns.
Bonita 28, Northview 12 -- Podley continues to work magic with Bearcats; Saints next
Damien 14, Charter Oak 14 -- What, no overtime? Give Spartans credit for bouncing back after last week's loss.
South Hills 28, Fullerton 7 -- Not surprised they won, but shocked at how easy it was
St. Francis 35, Los Altos 21 -- I have to watch the video. I can't explain how the team I saw last week loses at St. Francis and gives up 35 points.

Above: St. Francis QB Austin Heyworth running for a touchdown against Conqs.
Rancho Cucamonga 42, West Covina 21 -- Too many athletes for Bulldogs to keep up with
Wilson 42, Montebello 20 -- Chalk up another solid win for Wildcats
Rosemead 34, Temple City 12 -- Took a while for Panthers to finish them off
Azusa 39, Sierra Vista 14 -- Aztecs could be a force in Montview
Don Lugo 22, Rowland 21 -- Another close loss for Raiders
Corona del Mar 22, South El Monte 14 -- Closer than I expected
La Puente 39, Workman 9 -- These Warriors are a force
El Monte 22, Baldwin Park 21 - Lions go for two and win on final play of the game
Arroyo 28, El Rancho 21 -- Didn't think Knights would struggle, but they did
Diamond Ranch 15, Ayala 12 - Ranch struggles with team that beat Duarte
Nogales 7, Montclair 3 -- One touchdown is all it takes

Thursday's results
Glendora 28, West Ranch 14 -- Tartans look flat early, but bounce back and beat a very good West Ranch team.
Troy 42, Diamond Bar 38 -- Brahmas lose, but make their point. If I'm one of the so-called Sierra League favorites, the Brahmas would worry me.

While looking at the argument some people have posted in regards to the talent Damien has, the fact stands that none of them have major D1 potential. Don't get me wrong, there are players with great athletic ability. Unfortunately, great athletic ability doesn't constitute great football players. Rabe is very good "high school" player who committed to Oregon, yet he rated a two or three star overall. McMahon has great speed just like 10,000 other high school players across the country and he will be lucky to hear from a Nevada or New Mexico State. Herrera is another one with great speed at receiver but he doesn't carry a 6'4'' frame running 4.38. These kids are good for what they are doing know. Miller was getting looked at by some programs but struggles with extra points now and again. And D.Harper is not an argument...by all means congrats to him but being asked to come to school and walk on the team doesn't mean he amazing. USC filled a roster spot with just like they did with South Hill's Justin Hart two years ago. He will be buried on that depth chart and will get against the Idahos of the NCAA when SC is up by 30. "God's gift to the world" Will Harris (Charter Oak) hasn't even played and why? Oh yeah he's not that good. He's gonna sit behind Taylor Mays and Kevin Ellison until they're gone and by then SC will have some freshman with twice the talent that he does. While I'll agree that Damien's coaching is sub-par at best (excluding Carroll considering that the defense is the only thing keeping their season alive), these kids aren't going to be stars any place else other then where they are. The SGV produces one or two kids at most that are really capable of a D1 scholarship, and no the WAC, Mountain West, Sun Belt conferences don't count (no disrespect to Ian Johnson. The Haydens, Minor, and McClutcheons aren't out here anymore. I can't remember a big time recruit coming out if the SGV since Donnie McClesky (Amat) and even he went sorry ass Cal that didn't start getting good until he was an upperclassman. And I know there are going to be names like Bryan and Jeremy Patton thrown at me but c'mon. Jeremy hasn't done anything significant at all and Bryan's only memorable highlight will be his pick off of John David Booty while splitting time on the field. I haven't heard anything from Daniel Drayton (Los Altos) either. Sedrick Ellis and Chris McFoy (Chino) have had decent college careers at SC and everyone was drooling over them when they played out here. The SGV doesn't have the LB Poly, Mater Dei, Hart, Valencia, St. Bonaventure's of the world. Those teams come here to kick our asses for a confidence boost. You have to go out west for the amazing talent or go out to Norco and Orange County for the four and five star prospects. The SGV is stuck in the middle and that is exactly where most of these kid's talent lies in comparison to the rest of the state...in the middle.

BIG BLUE,
Read the same article in the Trib about D Ranch. All the coach said was in reference to scheduling tops teams for non league games to test themselves, similar to what we do . He mentioned he would like to schedule AMAT . I don't see where you should take that in a negative manner after all he is condidering us still one of the top teams unlike alot of other schools who don't have the b_lls to schedule us even though we are thing of the past with no hope in sight.
Randy, Diamond bar has regained the magic back. The football team has disappeared for years now.
Amnot....your retarded, you have exactly zero room to talk sh*t.....your not winning, your not improving, your teams gettng smaller, slower, and weaker every season........you have loads of drama ahead of you, and no one in sight to steer you straight.....i feel for you.....you used to be "SOMEBODY" in football, and not that long ago---kinda like us....except we're not a buncha primma donna, self absorbed, uptight buttholes,.....we're just a buncha public school folks trying to regain the magic....I hope your team is as lost as you are, I'm sure those Carson kids are gonna feel real sorry for you. Your gonna get alittle Polynesian blanket party thrown your way this week....enjoy.......
Knock knock
who's there
Brahma

Brahma Drama for Randy's Gramma.
Randy the randnipulator, Randomly selected for listening pleasure, the great Randino,
Bottomline is you team sucks and is going nowhere. Temescal punked you guys and you must feel like a real big shot beating up on those boys from Walnut........whenever you want to pick up the phone and call Amat for game do it.....we will cut off your nutz and hand them to you partner.......heck Ayala is going to kick your ass in your next game.......Chino Hills and Damien , new coach or not your team is a loser every year......stick to baseball oh thats right thats over too now that the Gary Brown days are over......
AMAT fan...stay the hell outta this.....this is between DRHS and DBHS.....you got enough problems yourself...nobody was calling you out, although they should, your a shell of what you used to be.....3 wins this year?....if your lucky....we don't bash our own admin here(maybe someone elses), we don't bash our kids here....we don't bash our coaches here either.....I didn't think airing dirty laundry was part of the Lancer tradition (of which I dont give two sh*ts about).....but after having read your posts here fer a couple years now, i see through your smoke and mirrors......we all do.....
D-Ranch calling out Amat in the fish wrap today.? what is that?...bet by your league and win something before you start popping off with that nonsense.
Where is the friggin' spell check on the tool board. I spell like I went to Diamond Ranch! I'm sure my point was delivered....
I guess my last response was sensored by the Disney oversight committee that screens the posts....whatever...
Hey Chuntee Panther fan.....your school admin screwed up the deal last year, Layton may or may not have been a part of that, I don't know....We will both have openings this coming year (in '08), I'm sure it will be carefully looked at up by the folks who actually make the deal....DBHS will be even stronger, and your will be weaker next year, sounds like a perfect time to start this thing off.....
Must be nice though and so convenient to have your pick of the athletes in the Pomona School District, "arrange" a cheesy little inter district transfer and have them suit up on game day....while Garey, Ganesha, and Pomona's team drop off the map in every sport.......theres no way ALL them kids live in DB and Phillips Ranch....it is what it is though huh? you still DON'T win championships--except in Girls hoops......PROPS to ya there!!!!!!!!
Work on winning those league games, and not so much about non-league games...so you might possibly make it to the finals before we retire...that should be your focus, que no? Mr. Coin toss.......don't be coming into this house barking like some big dog that hasn't done jack sh*t in 10 years......NOTHING.......YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW AS A TEAM IN 10 YEARS....S T F U.....
Are we still friends?? If we weren't friends, why, I just don't think I could bare it........;)
Hey chun-thee.......we don't make the calls here on the blog. You know that. Our admin has heard the questions about who we are going to play in the preseason. We don't go whining to them at every game.
I think we have two openings next year. I'm pretty sure Temescal and LB Jordan will be off the schedule. Next year we will be even stronger, and you weaker...so maybe they were just looking for the right time to schedule your dumb asses. Like a skilled boxer waiting for his chance, and striking at just the right moment.
Work on your league games, thats what gets you into the playoffs, ...It must be nice being able to pick the prize athletes out of the Pomona school district, arrange some cheesy inter district transfer and have them suit up for you on game day. There is no way in hell those kids ALL live in DB and Phillips Ranch, you know exactly what i'm talking about. Must be nice though, and how convenient.....good luck against Oaks Christian...if you have a a chance at scoring 14 points on them, this is the year....
Randy, yeah right! Layton was in and the triple booking (not the case)came from waiting for you! DR had to pick up Christian last minute. It was your school who did not have a coach! All preseason games are available next year. Call the school and ask for the AD or the coach. (909) 397-4715 Put or shut up! The Brahamas are all BULL!
Roosevelt Alumni/Damien FB Fan,
The problem with Damien lies on the lower levels, at this point in time. The coaching is, and has been, sub-par for several years. The quality of athletes has allowed this fact to go unnoticed for quite some time, but the reality has surfaced and is obvious to anyone who follows the Spartans regularly.
Once the varsity years arrive, primarily Junior and Senior years, the players are not prepared for the advanced speed of the game. This years O-line is good sized, but what is size without quick feet?
The secondary is gets burned more frequently than my morning toast, and the defense's pursuit to the ball seems to be in slow motion.
Add these shortcomings to the crappy play calling from the sidelines, and you've got mediocrity.
I wrote a few weeks back that this year's Damien squad is a .500 team, not much more than that. This forecast speaks to their program's problems, and their current level of play.
rooseveltalum74
What are you now, Gano's personal secretary? As a matter of fact I did call and Gano said he's too busy to speak right now as he was trying to pry your lips off his butt cheeks.
Roosevelt Alumni
I agree with most of your post but, you are way off the mark stating that any one on this years JV team belongs on the Varsity roster at Damien let alone play at that level. Their last game on Thursday against Charter Oak. They had to get a saftey to win over a team that cannot get out of there own way. That is a bad 0 and 4 team. A coaching staff calling the wrong plays at the wrong time. I would rather have a kid play at the JV level then sit at the varsity level. You should be happy your son is where he is. Damien will have a new look in two weeks. I can't promise a new play book but, changes are being made for the better.
Good luck to you son the rest of the way.
Well little boy have you made that call to Gano yet?
Thats right no response at all, and try something a little more original would you sister, lay off the crack pipe drink lots of water, what the F&*%.
The way you poped off last week about his coaching im sure you made the call to his office, still no response.
And you are concerned about my spelling you know the more i read your bile spitting out of your head im really begining to think you are a female, worried about my health worried about my spelling whats up here are you a girl, come on now tell the truth.
Anyway just in case you dont have coaches number, this will help just drive down to the school, you know where its at right off the 60 freeway the one with all the titles painted around the gym. Hopefully I spelled o.k. for you sweetheart.
P.S. dont piss in your pants when you see him!
Truth be told,
Using the West Co. game to make your point doesn't work, West Co. is in a down year,
they start 6 sophmores so leave my Bulldogs alone[lol], The games that would be interesting vs Amat would be Glendora, Diamond Ranch [when healthy] C.Oak & S.Hills, we'll have a gauge
on how S.Hills compares with Amat this Thursday
when they play Rancho C.
About the West Co. game, I don't think the Bulldogs are as bad as they played that night, & the score is not a true indicator of the differences between the two teams. I feel this
team will learn through the season & will improve
noticably come league.
KNOCK KNOCK
"WHO'S THERE"?
"TILLIS"
"TILLIS WHO?"
"TILLIS DAY I STILL CAN BEAT OUT TAMAYO FOR QB"
to La who
r u trying to be funny!!!
cause it's not working, dont give up your day time job!!!
Tillis #2 was burned horribly by that touchdown pass and then could not even make a attempt at a tackle........he is horrible.......not a QB and not a DB......the red sleeves?....he is all show he has no game.
Randy ....
i take it you have seen "TOMBSTONE" ...
"Well.....BYE "!
Response to "Diamond Bar":
Slow down kitty kitty....We were good to go last year, but your people at DRHS, with your revolving door head coaches, triple booked for "our" weekend.......the principle scheduled someone, the AD scheduled someone else, your flavor of the month head coach at the time scheduled someone else....in the end, you stuck your "hardest non league schedule in the country" and we got the boot, that iron man scheduling surely had alot to do with you getting into the playoffs last year on a COIN TOSS.... that was impressive bro!
Our time will come---that is for sure. Buts its not like we're ducking a proven CIF champion, YOUR PEOPLE TRIPLE BOOKED and left us holding the bag!
You are legit contender, and we're on the road back. We've both got great kids, and this thing will blossom into a purple, black and blue beat down every year. Don't be so anxious to get your teeth kicked in, and paws de-clawed.....we're coming...and HELLS coming with us.....
Just speaking the truth about the top 10. I am not a Amat faithful at all but it does make sense that they beat RC and WC got beat up. Also truth is Amat will not make the CIF playoffs again, there is no way they beat Crespi and there is no way they beat ND. As far as the locals playing Amat sure anything can happen and a SH or LA could win a game against them but year in and year out they play some heavy hitters and maybe it is time to move them down..they are not what they used to be and will find that out again come league play, heck Carson may take them out......It is a little of coaching and it is talent base and Amat has got to face facts they cannot hang with the big boys anymore and should come down and play there SGV counter parts......
Truth Be Told. You have a good point about Amat. I have no problem with them being #1 even with losses. They are playing TOUGH teams to get ready for their BRUTAL league. I would love to see them play Glendora, Damien, Los Altos, and Charter Oak all in pre season. That would be a heck of a pre season, and keep pounding Rancho. Then the debate would be over. They would be #1 unless they lose to a local team. Until they lose to a local team, I say put them #1. I'm sold.
605 Out!
Here's a question for the Amat faithfuless. Name 3 teams in the SGV that are potentially your peers. Say you consider yourself a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale. Rate all the SGV teams and what do you get? Not one other 10. Damien is probably a 7 at best. Los Altos and Charter Oak are maybe as well, so how can you be the King of the SGV? Your peers are St. Bonny, Servite, Mater Dei, Rancho Margarita, Norco, Loyola ect. Kings operate on a larger scale don't they? So can Amat please stop with the "we're the king of the sgv" comments. I know that will never happen but hey you never know. Saying you're the king of the sgv is like saying you're the owner of the most expensive house in La Puente. Wait? YOU ARE SAYING THAT! long live the king (burp!)
DBHS agree to play Diamond Ranch! DR is playing two teams in your league and still can't get you to agree? This would be a great rival because the boys play Pop Warner together. Our side wants it, your side wants it, our players want it, your players want it, our coach wants it, your coach...? Whats the deal. Stop telling everyone you have too many rivalries. Troy is not a rival. Diamond Ranch will be a bigger rival than Walnut. Call Diamond Ranch and schedule the game. Everyone knows it is you who are ducking us. Give the fans, parents, players and the community what they want.
Mr. Tillis must be going crazy and throwing his tantrums now that Tamayo put up a bad game and he must be calling for Blakes promotion........also WC losing to Rancho Cucamonga?.....All the talk about Amat being at a equal level with the rest of the SGV and being a normal team now?....heck Amat made it look easy against RC......WC got rocked there is no comparison Amat is still king of SGV......now SH and LA will have something to say about it right?...wrong St. Franny kicked LA ass again for the second straight year with Soph. RB....all LA has is bryce and the young man is the only one carrying that team single handedly...that is why that top ten is a bunch of BS.......
Well, I had to pick West Covina, Fred is right, too many athletes. But congrats to coach Sanchez and the El Monte Lion! That was my upset of the week. BP got out coached. Better athletes doesn't always get you a win. Rancho has good coaching and athletes.
Words of wisdom for coach Heggins. Start calling both sides of the ball. You are the only one who has a clue on your staff.
Can't wait to see this week's picks.
Heart is great to have, but it doesn't mean jack sh!+, if you don't have the skills to go with it. You can the biggest heart and the best of intentions, but if the skills aren't there, it just doesn't matter. Your best athletes should be on the field, on both sides of the ball, at all times, baring any injury. There seems to be a common thread that most of these coaches don't/won't play the best player for the job. Damien fans, LA fans, Amat fans, CO fans and SH fans all complain of this. Coaches get too caught up in their own agendas. Remember coaches, its not about you just like its not about any one player. Its about what the TEAM needs most at the present time to be successful in the current season. A coach is a teacher and that is what should be taught.
To the bloggers who keep talking about Marcus Wiliams like he has or did or would have contributed to Damien's success get a grip. He was hurt all of last year except a few games. Never was a factor. In fact Chris Marine was Damien's horse and game MVP on a couple occassions. Williams never was a factor. He's a hard worker but he's had a rash of injuries that have left him on the sidelines 75% of the time. I find it incredible this talk about missing one player and great teams deal with that reality. Imagine Damien without Pertusati. Glendora without Kalsuny. Los Altos without Bryce. And so forth. They are major loses. Damien was lucky to get a tie. Damien size and speed alwyas keeps them in games when their coaching fails them. They are woefully undercoached and poorly conditioned. It's taken Schmitz and Rabe 4 years to get in shape. Morrisson does everything for that team but carry water. As big and strong as Damien is and with their speed they should be undefeated. No RB coach,no QB coach, no WR coach, no TE coach, no strenght coach,no linebacker coach. Morrison does offense, Carroll does defense and that it. Coach Bubba is all heart and work ethic and Coach Hile does what he can. SBut Damien is simply an undermanned and under developed staff. And that mess starts at the lower levels. Rabe DE, Schmitz Ol,Herrera WR,Miller K, Betance P,McMahon S,Salter DT are all potential DI prospects. That's 7 on one team! Add Mendrun U, Travis WR, Luiten DL,Walsh DE and DeLaTorre OL and Harper CB@USC from last year's team and well that's alot of ballers on 1 team. Best of luck to Morrison. No way he's a .500 coach playing Div6 teams and Ayala and DB for the last 5 years, but he is. A Glendora blowout of the Spartans will have the Alumni forgetting last year's heroics. Hope Coach Carroll comes thru for Morrison like he did last year at this time and runs the table roughing people up. Not a hater but is anyone else not impressed with Damien's consistent size advantage? Morrison start bringing up the biggest, fastest, meanset most skilled JV players immediately. I count 7 that are qualified. Go Spartans!
fff
I'm just not seeing that Chrissy.....seems like a down year in the Sierra League. The Miramonte teams have proven that point on the field ("IF" Glendora plays the whole 48 minutes they rise above that).....good luck with El DO, they're champions, they play till the end....
Pres Bush: How did Tomato do tonight?
Press Secty: It’s Tamayo.
Bush: How did Tacoman do tonight?
Scty: It’s Tamayo

Scty: (pulling his hair)

RANDY>> Plaid Lads responce was gracias. Unlike your rant.. Glendora will beat your little purple team into the ground. Dream all you want. Your nightmare is coming. Sweet dreams.. btw I like your band. At least they have class.
Response to : PLAID LAD
there are no "IFs" in football huh? so there are no upsets??...cuz every week, the best teams consistently kick the crap out of the "up and comers"???
perhaps you didnt see how half of the top ten in college football lost this weekend.....maybe IF they had brought their "A" game, they would still be in the top ten???
You never know whats going happen fer sure, thats why they play the games...right??
duly noted......as with your lack of CIF championships in football......we'll c ya, when we c ya.....with no fear, and supposedly with nothing to lose....lets do it lunger.....:)
Diamond bar, let me tell you there for real im not saying there going to win a championship but the serria league teams better be ready when you play them, john martin is doing a outstanding job over there and that team has lots of talent and big hearts and beleive me they have played big teams and fast teams and done just fine.
Response to: randy
Your comment about DB slipping in (IF) Chino Hills, Glendora, or Damien crashes during league play is duely noted.
My opinion is that Ayala will likely make a mad dash at the CIF big dance also.
But then I'm not kicking DB to the curb either.
Pre-season winning builds confidence as you suggested, and as we all enter league play.....we are glad you (DB) are feeling it this year.
Several strong teams in the Sierra League will definitely make things interesting in 2007.
FYI: There are no "IF's" in football or any other sport.
Best of luck....until we meet.
PLAID LAD
Fred,
Tribune top 10 rankings will be difficult this weak. After careful analysis, this is how I would place them:
Tribune Top Ten rankings
1. Glendora (Beat a very good West Ranch)
2. Los Altos (Lost to St. Fran - should have done better)
3. Charter Oak (Tied Damien - a lower ranking team)
4. Diamond Ranch (should have done better against Ayala)
5. South HIlls (good win against Fullerton, have they ever won a game?)
6. Bishop Amat (a victory - Thank God!)
7. Damien (No Snowden and can only come up with a tie?)
8. San Dimas (doing well against lower lever opponents)
9. Rosemead (Good win vs Temple who?)
10. Duarte (#10 just to piss off Crutch)
la who?
i asked where your from, because either you or your team has lost to gano many times or his team allways finishes ahead of yours, your jealousy runneth over.
You know what, I'm taking that comment about DB and not making the playoffs back....they should take down both Ayala AND Chino,....that would leave one more win to sneak out/pulloff/upset over Damien, Glendora, or Chino Hills----just one of those supposed tough guys slips and lets down against the Brahmas, and we're in...this aint gonna be no walk in the park, thats fer sure, but the Brahmas have the horses to score with any of those 3 teams. They just gotta have a big game defensively, and they are in.....I believe, the fans believe, and its pretty obvious the Brahma players BELIEVE.....stay strong, stay gold...
Los altos got rolled up by a sophmore lol,I guess your not #1 anymore and gano, we had injurys, take your lost like a man, mr I recruit.
re: MTC
So, what do you think about this weeks throw down with CIF Champ ElDo?
rooseveltalum74,
Have you ever thought about laying off that pipe when you write? Here's some advise if you're sober enough to read this, sleep 8 hours, take 2 advils, drink lots of water, use spell check and have a 2nd grader check your writing for grammar, sentence structure and sentence clarity.
R2D2,
Why do you ask where I'm from? are you a homie, cause I don't wanna get shot?
Like I have said in the past, Anonymous is a coward little boy, some day when these url's are released and believe me they will be I mean even citibank cant keep thier info secure, im sure your a wanna be who's kid never even touched a field, or more than likely you dont even have a kid just yet.
And to the child who wrote about the chicago bears shows your level of football intellect, you piece of tripe there is no simalarity between the N.F.L. and high school football, whoever the football coach is, its his right and thats it, when you have put in the work and the sacrifice to get to that level then you can open your mouth, he is paid to do that job.
Also mr know it all are you saying that the Qber position is the reason for Amats demise, thats immature once again you are blamming all the wrong things on all the wrong people but its O.K. for you to do this you have no accountability or no responcibility if you say something stupid you can just run away and not look at your computer for awhile, but if your a coach you need to be responcible for what you do and say.
By the way the Qber didnt give up 35 points nor did he fumble the ball in the first Qtr, or drop any pases, try looking at the original point here strength of schedule, now if you can focus on that and what do you think about that.
From what I saw on the highlights the kid is better than 60% of the kids out there, if not call Gano mon morn and let him know, the school secretary will put you right through to his direct line.
And the way I see it no one went after Amats kids those people are leaving on thier own because the ride isnt worth the price of the ticket plain and simple, and im sure were not as good as anonymous and his kids but hey all kids want to win and maybe they arent DI level but why not win a title or at least have a shot.
Actually ive never heard anyone of these so called lower level kids who left Amat, bad mouth Amat or anyone in it, they just want a chance to play plain and simple.
Why would anyone have a problem with a kid just wanting to get on the field unless thier kid wasnt good enough, what about it little boy "anonymous" or did you even play? goosh I think thats it did you even play, ha, ha, ha, im sorry i brought it up.
CO please stop whining about the loss of Snowden. Although he would've made a diffrence, just like two others have said, a good football team doesnt rely on one individual. CO also had Crespo so there is no REAL excuse there.
la who? where you from
Yes Randy i agree with you too! Getting Coach Martin is a true blessing and i dont think players or parents could be happier with the results thusfar being that we are so early in the season. Not getting Martin would have been like "The one who got away"..lol
I truly beleive the defense will tighten up by league...but the offense is not shabby . Im pretty excited ..Win or lose!
DBHS, the most improved team in the valley?.....did an actual sports writer give us that tag??? Word up my brutha! We'll take it :)
The Brahmas have GREATLY improved, anyone who follows the Sierra League knows this. They play better offense than they do defense, but they have shown some fight we have haven't seen in a few years. The core group are juniors, they will be back...
They had the ball and were driving in the 4th qtr down by 2 TD's against Temescal Cyn (a D2 semi-finalist who killed them 42-3 in '06)....they were down 14-3 at half against LB Jordan (D1), turned it around closed it to 17-16, went for 2 pts on the conversion but wound one one play short of beating them (we got whooped by a similiar playoff bound Locke team from City section in '06).....and then there was Troy, that Coleman kid is the sh*t! We had them on the ropes, we had it in our grasps! Without Coleman they drop off the map! Troy was also a semi-finalist team last yr in thier division.
We're close, and getting closer....this week is the 'bye', they are 2-3 going into league now, but showing life that wasn't there the last 3 or 4 years...
Coach Martin has those boys moving forward, making progress and getting better each week.....I'm not saying they are gonna win league, hell theres a good chance they won't even make the playoffs, but they are on the warpath, they are on the move, they will need to be DEALT with......And I know EVERYONE in those stands couldn't be prouder of what we are seeing.........Keep Bringing It Brahmas!!!!!!!
It's funny how LA fans come on here and give their expert advise on how their team should have won. You start playing decent teams like SF expect to lose and then you start pointing fingers. It doesn't matter if you have Dan Marino at QB or not, your team would lose when faced with above average competition. Remember opposing teams will stack the box, stop the run, force the pass (nonexistent) and bingo against your one dimensional offense.....there is no balance! Let's hope Mahamud or whatever his muslim name is doesn't get hurt trying to carry his team every week.
SH#@dog, good post little girl, I guess SH no longer takes pride in educating thier little pups anymore. And I wear boxer's.
TIGHTY-WHITEY SKRID MARK CHANGE YOUR SHORTS YOUR SMELLING UP FRED'S WEB
Oh SH we're back-don't forget you have a few BA imports yourself. We don't need your QB, we have a QB, what we need is our coach to make some changes. Gano is a smart guy with experience-PRIDE or no pride the fan's expectation is that he will make a change before league and hit you with a QB who will bring it! The dimension is there-he WILL recognize it and go with it. He knew after Spring ball who he should go with, then it would appear there was some recruiting done and now they see that their recruit is not getting it done. Smart Gano is, how flexible is he is the question. Even if he platoons the QBs between the two seniors-that would be a better plan of action than what he has going now. Oh BEWARE SH we will be back-ready to rock and roll week 6! We respectfully look forward to the battle-we will settle it on the field! We appreciate a good opponent and you are one SH!
Anonymous,
That's what I'm talking about and so what if no one wants to listen to us now because later you going to feel us whether you like us or not because we're going UP and Los Altos is going DOWN in the rankings and in games. Los Altos you should of also taken one of our Quarterbacks when you raided Bishop Amat of theirs because your situation has gone from bad to worse. Buy a ticket now folks because we are going to get our revenge on EVERYONE except Charter Oak (sorry Skrid) of course because you're not on our schedule and you won't even make the playoffs! OUCH! See you in a few weeks L.A..!
Wheres the love for South Hills there getting it rollin now watch out for the Huskies.Bring it LA week 6 is coming soon!!!!
Rooseveltalum,
You make some good points. The first of which is that there is a major problem at the QB position. I will not insult the young man. I will only say that it is obvious to everyone that he is not getting the job done. I will use the Chicago Bears as an example. They went to the big dance last year with their QB. This season he was not getting it done and after a few games he was benched. Change can be a good thing. Lets bring it down to the local HS level, with no disrespect to the schools mentioned. South Hills made a QB change this year and is now reaping the benefits from it. Amat has been steadfast on their chosen QBs each of the last 2 years and has suffered because of it and their unwillingness to change overall. I hope Gano doesn't fall into the same trap.
Former QB and present coach Felipe Aguilar played 4 years at Pomona-Pitzer, a four year university
Bluorca-Like I said! Glass house. If you play in the D-1 you are supposed to be able to compete in the D1. Again!
COME ON! Stop whining and start winning. You are always full of excuses.
love Los Altos and love Gano. That man needed some good comforting after that whoopin. I would happily volunteer. Love a brainiac football coach. It's so hot. Gano - call me
Attention CO... If you can't block on the o-line it does not make any sense to have your receivers running 10-15 yard routes! Come on! Common sense would tell you to shorten up your routes. Try rolling your QB out instead of tacking sacks or grounding penalties. I know I'm a Monday morning quarterback, but come on....you get the ball back with time on the clock and you can't get any positive yards because of one defensive end (#95). I'll give this, that kid is a stud!
And for all those who say if Kanan played it would have been a different outcome....NO SH%T? AS someone stated in an earlier post, good team find a way to play with what they have. He would have made a difference, but I'm not so sure the score would have been any different. Damien fields a good tough football team and I wish you luck the rest of the year.
rooseveltalum74,
Immediately after reading your comments I knelt down and began to pray and then stood back up and sang the National Anthem. You brought me to tears with what you wrote and I say Amen my Brother!
I also decided to start a petition for you to be hired on Los Alto's coaching staff because you are a genius in terms of high school football.
If we wanted to stage a rally would you be willing to make a guest appearance and say again what you just wrote but this time in front of thousands of people?
I know I feel much better after reading what you wrote and these people are bad and wrong and my sense now is from your comments Los Altos is going to win the SUPER BOWL this year!
You can do it!
To all you monday morn Qbers, its clear that L.A. is having some issues at the top spot o.k. now we know this but show some intellect and a little class.
Calling kids out by name is a tough thing to do especially if your not leaving your name.
Last years kid had one hell of a ride and two grat years to enjoy it.
As far as I can see he is the only one of Gano's Qber's to play a down in a four year university, at that position and he's only a freshmen,
So its easy to see that all these kids at Los Altos have a tough act to follow.
The journey is the key here the, little Qber from last year had a cannon but was too short for Amats greatness so they said thank you to the school and quietly departed and never looked back.
But please remember the kid was a two year starter at AMAT, he wasnt a bench warmer or a kid who played a different position and then transferred, he flat out started as a freshman and as a sophmore, that is the answer here, you need to go with a kid who has started someplace.
Now back to the point the Los Altos loss is not the players fault directly, it is directly related to strength of schedule its that simple you cannot go into this type of game after Damien and thier size and expect to come out healthy, this is a scheduling issue.
Damien should be the first game on the schedule every year, not a cupcake like Rosemead, "sorry to any panthers out there", the cream puffs and the tripe should be after the Damien but before the St Frances game thats plain and simple.
I am not calling anyone out here all im saying is broken legs and kids being carried out is not a heart issue or a toughness issue these kids are the toughest around, its fatigue and not enough rest between title fights, not to mention the strength of the Miramonte league, if your going to play this tough of a schedule you need a lot more depth.
Stop calling kids out unless your going to put your name on this post, and from what I see 4 titles and 5 straight appearance's many playoff wins and several kids playing at the next level hey lets see what happens next, I know we all want success for our team and kids but lets give these guys some respect and some space.
You dads need to chill for a while and see what happens.
for everyone out there who thinks they know how to coach, and or the jealous ones who love to see la lose, they lost one game,if you were at the game, yes they got out played st francis was better than them that day,and if u read the paper that was ganos exact words, no excuses like allways never uses excuses,i to think tamayo needs to improve but as bad as the game was there was a fumble by another player, st francis recovers then scores, then there was a cmpleted pass from tamayo then is fumbled an again they score, gano has more cif titles for the time he has coached than anybody around and we have people who say he cant coach, sure he and all coaches get out coached sometime, and all you peoplr who know exactly what to do to make la better, then you must be going to the games, so please keep going, your support for the program is appreciated.
"bluorca"
You're a D1 football school. You're supposed to play high caliber teams.
LA is D6, and has played:
Rosemead - D7
LB Wilson - D1
Damien - D2
St. Francis - D3
Where do you get off talking smack about schedules?
All you CO fans stoping complaining about if Snowden would've played the outcome would've been different. A good teams learns how to cope when players go down plus u people are acting as if damien hasnt loss anyone. They lost Marcus Williams who had a pretty productive season last year and would of had a even beter one this year.
Coach Gano, if you read this.... People always accuse you of not being a good coach, but just recruiting and playing favorites. Now they say you are stubborn and refuse to change. Prove all the naysayers wrong and change the offense. That is the issue.
one day i would just love for the people of BA to ADMIT that they just cant compete at the PAC 5 level...just once....yes they were ONCE dominant but those days are over now you're just your run of the mill type team, just like LA CO and SH.....they're only a handful of teams that are POWERS....MATER DEI, SERVITE, LB POLY, those are powers, yes on any given night anyone can compete but its just ridiculous to think that you can take a season of that, but somehow this makes BA SUPERIOrs to others in the SGV, no it just makes u 3-7 or 4-6 and not playing in DEC....
Glass house?
You must have no clue of the caliber of team that Amat faces each and every year...
NO SNOWDEN FOR CHARTER OAK IS LIKE
1. NO BRYCE MCBRIDE FOR LOS ALTOS.
2.NO JAKE VEGA FOR GLENDORA.
3.NICO BARBONE FOR SAN DIAMS
you cant win unless u have ur best althlete on the felid
money mike chea!
BluOrca-people in glass houses!
COME ON!
Agreed Conq Fan. It is a learning experience and I hope the coaches have learned from these last games and make the needed changes. I was at the game and agree the TE should get the ball more. I think the big problem is the QB can't do that consistantly. I also agree that he is not the one for the job in this offense. He did seem to be shaken and lacking confidence. All the balls thrown were high and exposed the receivers to big hits. The offense that coach runs needs a much more athletic QB. Having seen all the QBs available this year and with no disrespect to any, 2 would seem to be the logical choice. Also, there needs to be a deep threat out there that can stretch the field. St. Francis put 8-9# in the box at times and dared LA to throw. Gano is a smart coach and I have faith that he will make the changes to the offense to give them the best chance to win.

I really do not understand this "surprise" loss to St. Francis.
Someone explain to me how this is a "surprise" loss?
tough loss LA but its fine its one of those learning exp. in a suprisingly hostile enviorment. There are bigger issues at hand and this loss isnt the end all. Every week is a learning expierience, the trick is to LEARN!!!!! You all played hard and fought till the end, im sure that the coaches saw some things that they can do better as well. OKAY now that i said that here are some pointers, i just finished watching the highlight tape (and I was at the game), from where i was sitting i couldnt see when 84 caught those two balls but seeing what he did after it amazes as to why he doesnt get the ball more, with a passing game that is practically naught, it seems as though the TE with good hands is a perfect place to go even if he is split out wide (have you seen the chargers?) (or the Browns?), to comment on the reverse that some one brought up, yes ur right a reverse to the TE isnt common but i dont have a problem handing it off to that guy with his pads facing NORTH SOUTH, did you guys see how he dragged the pile and ran over Number 4?, adjustments need to be made and attitudes need to change its a long season and i wish the best to LA, wont be able to cath this weeks game but i will see you at HOMECOMING. GOOD LUCK CONQUERORS!!!!
SH we lack, what was the score of the last meeting between co and sh. I think co also beat trabuco hills right after that 35-0 nightmare they laid on you at the greatest football stadium around, CDF.
SH WE BACK,
If you only new my love for the once mighty HUSKIES! Back in the Nemzek days when everyone and thier mother new what play was coming and couldn't stop it, those were the days. Dive, off tackle, dive, off tackle, dive, off tackle, option, dive, off tackle TD! The play was called pro right 26 aka.. shove it up thier A@#. 8 Straight league titles. Also, NO TRANSFERS! We did it with locals. Take away your little name for now and prove it, Then I'll agree and cheer with you. Until then, lighten up Francis.
NOTE TO LA
After watching film on you this year....Tamayo is too short, he is not a threat in or out of the pocket and is not a playmaker. If you decide to stay with him, it won't matter how well Bryce plays. In the end, Tamayo will cost you games, the playoffs and your season. Bryce is great, but he cant always save the day. Thanks in advance for exposing your weakness and for giving the league to us this year.
Sincerely,
DRanch
Charter Oak
Wilson
Bonita
P.S. You won't even see a coin toss this year.
there is a kid by the name of dimitri longoria, south paw #12 that plays jv and suits up for varsity. he is nick longorias brother. this kid has a gun, he is tall, he has heart, wants to win. JUNIOR, JUNIOR WHO! you need someone with heart and that wants it. give the kid a chance gano! you know he can carry your team! ITS TIME TO LET THE LEFTY HAVE A SHOT AT IT. not enough experience......bullshit! let him have his turn!
PLAID LAD
Your crazy. Marquee players do influence the outcome of EVERY game. The outcome of the Damien/Charter Oak game would have been a whole different story had Snowden played. To say otherwise, is like believing the Colts when win every game without Manning. Give me a break!
Skrid ,
If you're sincere when choosing me a new moniker, I will change my name but until South Hills We're Back..! is what I will go by because the shoe fits and speaking of which Tamayo has too big of shoes to fill compared to other Los Altos Quarterbacks in the past. Amat INSIDER has no reason to lie and knows firsthand Tamayo in his words "SUCKS" or in other words is going to continue to lose games if he has to perform meaning McBride or bust!
LA Let's go,
I feel your pain brother and was there until Bogan made the necessary change at Quarterback and truly believe now we have the right players in the right position to win.
Bottom line: Teams like us (South Hills) and Los Altos we have no excuses because we have the right skill positions and linemen so my point is if and when we fail the coaches are obviously making poor decisions the difference is Bogan put his ego aside and is adjusting his scheme to his players that is why we have won the last couple of weeks and Gano will instead fail because he will refuse to adjust his philosophy.
Oh and Skrid PLAID LAD is right! Make no excuses for Charter Oak tying last night. From what I can tell you got beat upfront which means same old story that is already old news. Charter Oak is going nowhere this year because they do not have an Offensive Line!
Get ready boys because South Hills will end the season where we started #1! I just wish we could of still had a chance to play in the State Championships but that's ok you still can watch us on T.V.!
Plaid Lad, Mr. V,
I don't see how snowden not playing is getting under your skin or CO not making excuses about it. Would it have helped, probably but at the same time it was probably a good thing that they could hang without him. Ties suck!
Response to: No Snowden @ 9/29/07 @ 1:45 PM
Snowden was a factor in the COHS victory over GHS. He proved to be the winning component in a great game that mirrored equals...until the final seconds of the game.
As interesting and exciting as he was to watch...he did not show, place, or win, against the Damien game.
Hence, he was a non-factor in the teams production. Why he did not play?......Only Big Lou and boys can answer that one. If injured and/or sore due to our match-up last week...so be it...I hope he recovers soon to show-case his talents.
To those that continue to bang about his absence...for the sake of creating a "what if theory"...please burn your psych-books.
COHS played as hard as expected against GHS and Damien..enough said.
FYI: Stop making Snowden a factor to your current solutions (or excuses) when he does not participate.
PLAID LAD
#1 fan,
Your right, if it ever comes down to the best "FREKING BLOGGERS" you are #1! Keep it up BLOG MASTER,who is your team by the way?
Hey Anonymous-Tillis must have a twin, because he was at LA last summer. He was at LA. Duh!
South Hills We're Back & You aint no Castaneda- Hooray! I have to agree with you both.
With all due respect to Gano-he is really making a HUGE mistake at QB. Make a change! What do you have to lose? Looking at the stats-NOT MUCH!
If Gano doesn't make a change, LA is going DOWN! and so is his personal record for making the playoffs. Looks to me like he has another option in #2 OR #19. #2 & 19 were there all summer and then POOF Tamayo from Amat shows up 5'5", weak arm and no moves. It's the fourth game and he just gets his first TD pass. Of course this follows many overthrown passes to wide open receivers in the zone in prior games.
Let's be fair-some of the receivers are lacking too. #11 seems to require a perfect pass to make the catch, although he has the height, he doesn't seem to have the athleticism.
#2 has been at DB, but I have seen him at a couple of practices at receiver and he actually makes some athletic catches. Why isn't he one of the go to guys if you insist on Tamayo at QB? Use that speed. It's my understanding that #1,#2 & #5 are the fastest guys on the team. Get some plays in spread formation and use that speed. Can we have some reverses with this speed? Come on Gano-it aint rocket science, it's just football. And whose bright idea was it to throw a reverse to the tight end? Excuse me but SPEED is a key to a reverse being successful. Are you kidding me?
No disrespect to Ray-you rock in all that you do! go #84-LA loves ya and your aggressive play.
LA loves it team & coaches-can we start to love our coaching in the coming weeks? WAKE UP!
Let's go LA!
OK let me get this right.. South Hills wins a week South East team like Fullerton and they are back in the running and are a great team. give me a freaking break. Los Altos loses to a good Div 2 team and they need some help Yeah right. West Covina had a good game against Ranch Cucamonga a Div 2 team and the need help Yeah right. Amat wins a good team in Rancho Cucamonga and get no love yeah righ. this is all a crock is smack on..... all tams are even its just who has the best frecking bloggers.... out
Anonymous, you IQ is obviously low. Tillis was not at Amat in the summer. He was at LA. Nice try.
Tamayo sucks. Now you see what we at Amat already knew about him. He cant hang against real competition. He wont get it done. Look at his numbers. Its pathetic. Good luck with him at QB. LMAO
Amat's QB depth chart during the summer:
1 - Lenhart
2 - McClanahan
3 - Iglesias
4 - Tamayo
5 - Tillis
Now do you understand why Tamayo was a 4th string QB at Amat. And say what..... Tillis?
Gano is a smart coach. He has to know Tamayo is not working out and he needs to make a change. Gano will make the change at QB and then LA WILL BE BACK!!!!
SH we're back,
Glendora fan already has the rights to that slogan, GHS attorneys will be contacting you very soon with a court date. Don't copy glendora fan husky pup.
Can and will Los Altos win a C.I.F. Championship with Tamayo NO! Can and will South Hills win a C.I.F. Championship with Deen YES! Wells and McBride both are excellent Running Backs but the difference is at Quarterback. Imagine Los Altos without McBride this year and if he was still at Bishop Amat. They were going to be not very good this year and in a several weeks after playing Western, South Hills, and Diamond Ranch they will have lost back to back to back games and actually be bad! Why? TAMAYO! Read Bogan's quotes he's made the change at Quarterback and Gano hasn't and won't and in the end that will be the difference our coach is smarter than your coach with X's and O's and personnel! And Charter Oak you're going no where either but DOWN too. South Hills vs. Diamond Ranch in the C.I.F. Championship! See you there..!
White Flag, I to dated many gals from covina. I was hoping and think you did figure out that I was joking without me typing LOL. Stay loyal to your red team from the foothills.

Re: your post "Damien vs COHS"
You left out the biggest difference between the games Glendora vs CO and Damien vs CO. CO didn't use Snowden in Damien game. Perhaps CO felt they needed their #1 "do everything player" against the tougher opponent Glendora then against Damien.
It's time to yank Tamayo. Please, Gano swallow your pride. Do what's best for your team. Longoria, Tillis, Zamora, I don't care, just yank Tamayo, please!
tLA will be back!!!
Give credit to SF for a great game plan. Gano rarely stunts and blitzes before an opponent exhibits the ability to throw. The Golden Knights seemed to have figured this out and it looked to me that they scripted their first series. Hayworth, (I beleive that was SF's QB), fresh and "hit-free" delivered the ball flawlessly and blew right through the already suspect Cong secondary.
When LA adjusted and began bringing backers on blitzes, after being down 21-0, he then executed the quick shovel pass, pitch and inside handoff beautifully. Very much in contrast to LA's effort to get the ball to anyone other that McBride, who played valiantly and tried, in vain, to carry the entire team. Tamayo looked confused and frankly, out of his depth. Too often when he did do his part another Conq would drop the ball or get cranked by a stunting and tenacious SF "D".
Gano expressed concern in week two about his "midgets" in the secondary and Friday night his concerns came to fruition.
Based on their remaining schedule and the now exposed "deep and seemingly irreparable flaws" in vital elements of any solid teams potential for sustained success, I am afraid the highlights and high points of this particular Los Altos season are now behind them.

Well said
Gano was outcoached. He and Los Altos are overrated. Bryce cant do it alone and he's not getting any help from his QB. Tamayo is not going to help you win games, period. Like someone said earlier, I dont care who you put in at QB, just get Tamayo out. 4 games into the season and he has not been effective. The defense needs to change their scheme and get off the field. They were on thr field more than the offense in this game. This needs to change.
Coach Gano did not do his job. It did not appear the team was prepared to defend the passing game. Why weren't you prepared for this team? LA did very little to adjust after the lead within the first 9 minutes. A few hints-change that short qb he can't even see over the line. He turns over the ball repeatedly-throws at least one interception per game. He lobs the ball and gets your tight end lit up every pass. The pressure is too much for this qb. he is not a play maker.
You need that qb from summer-he can move and has a strong arm. #5 may have his part, but he will not be able to carry the entire team. Your defense was lacking big time.
No pass, no win! You got beat by the pass. Take the hint & do the same.
Hey fred
There is no article on the wilson vs. Montebello game. I was hoping to read how tim did. Maybe its in the paper but I didn't get a chanceto pick it up. I usually read up on the site. But it wasn't there. Info on that please?
You dont have to watch the video Fred. Let me tell you what happened. SF QB Austin Heyworth and WR Kevin Garcia torched the LA secondary in the first half which spread the defense out and allowed SF to dominate with the running game in the second half, led by RB D. Riley, K. Morgan, and E. King. That was it, plain and simple. Ganos was outcoached, and the Conqs were outmatched!
P.S. My prayers go out to #65. Hope for a quick recovery.
Golden Knight
Anon, your comments would mean something if you broke the game down before it was played. Easy to talk after the fact. Then again, that's why you stay anonymous.
Read this on Jaime Cardenas' LA times blog...Guess I fired up St. Francis with my two-minute comments.....
Here's what it said in the Times blog.
SFHS fan,
You may not know what makes for a great facility (parking is part of a facility), but you sure can scout talent.
You said to watch out for No. 4 and No. 21 and you where right. No. 4 Dietrich Riley had an awesome game, as I wrote about in an earlier blog, and No. 21 Kevin Garcia, a senior wide receiver/defensive back, wasn't far behind with his two TDs and two fourth-quarter-interceptions to help seal the victory.
Evan King, a junior running back/linebacker, also had a great game, scoring two TDs and getting that last block to spring Riley loose for the last touchdown.
The Golden Knights' offensive and defensive fronts also had monster games.
Perhaps one of the reasons St. Francis is celebrating and Los Altos is hurting right now is the media hype before the game.
Garcia said he listened to the SGVT's two-minute drill audio clip five times to get pumped up. St. Francis senior lineman Dan Scheper said he was amazed at the level of disrespect. Coach Jim Bonds didn't have to do much to motivate his players; the media did it all for him.
On the flipside, Los Altos apparently believed the hype and perhaps came in a little over-confident.
"I noticed during pregame, they didn't look fired up at all," Garcia said. "We came in knowing that they were going to beat us."
But the Golden Knights refused to lose.
"No, no way. Not in front of our fans and our parents. No way," Garcia said.
Added Riley: "We heard all the hype. The papers saying we couldn't beat them, that they we're going to devour us and we just wanted to respond back."
Said Scheper: "They came in expecting to whomp on us, but we had a different idea."
-Jaime Cardenas
los altos were supposed to DEVOUR us huh fred and the other fool who probably doesnt even know the game of football, and probably just looks at the stats and determines the outcome of a game by that.
DEVOUR?!?!?!?!?
stop paying attention to stats and start watching games before you make a "sure" pick to win.

I know that alot of GHS bloggers need to be reminded where our team stands. So, to accommondate the numerical situation certain entities have created a top-ten status to rank each team in SGV. Preseason rating and ranking have never interest me. So, instead of teams needing to be reminded where they stand....they should be questioning how well they are physically and mentally prepared to compete.
Having said that, this weeks (Thursday's) game against ElDo will test both teams abilitY to adjust and avoid the pit-falls of costly mistakes.
ElDo is a well coached team....which explains their championship status. Their QB is similar in talent, size, and strength, as last week's West Ranch QB.
ElDo's front offensive line is not big...but does have the ability to move on the snap to defend their backfield.
I witnessed ELDO as they squared off against Fullerton a few weeks back and walked away believing they were a solid team and on any given night could and would defend their status.
A few comments have been made about ElDo's loss of quality players of last year. To those that think that is true....think again....because they appear as if they have reloaded. Think any less...and we get kicked in the snout again.
Staying focussed and executing our kind of game will corner another win.

Re: Damien vs COHS
The effects of kissing your sister is something COHS grasped last night...This game had all the feeling of last weeks game against GHS....the difference was that there were no last second heroics by COHS to pull out a victory.
Damien's defensive strides were unbelieveable. For that matter both teams played big time D all night to keep it equal.
Offensively Damien's QB is without a doubt a franchise player....and with Damien's offensive front hogs they executed well. Throw in WR Talmo and company and Damien appears to be the real deal this year. The way they played last night made me question their loses.
On defense Damien's Raby has got be the top SGV defensive player of 2007. He plowed over player after player and in the end proved to be the momentum breaker as he uprooted COHS back field.
FYI: Neither team needs to make excuses for last nights competition...it was worth the price of admission.
NOTE: Watching Damien last night proved that the GHS showdown in two weeks will be fierce.
PLAID LAD
Who the he- is Mahnud McBride? Does he think he's already in the NFL?
Well football fans...Morrison (Damien) had a better week this week. Instead of a loss, Damien had a tie with Charter Oak! For some, I guess a tie is an improvement. Damien was in the red zone way too many times (at least 4) which resulted in 0 points on the board.
Where is the offensive coaching and play calling? PLEASE somebody help this coach! As my name implies, I am a benchwarmer but even benchwarmers like me know that when it is 3 down and 8 to go, you send all your receivers to the first down marker - NOT 2 yards from scrimmage!
And, Morrison's favorite play and possibly only play in Damien's playbook, run your 125lb (when soaking wet)sophomore up the middle whenever you decide to run the ball for a gain of 1! Too bad there aren't 10 downs to get 10 yards and then maybe Damien could get more first down conversions! UGHHHHHHH - It's just so painful.
And as i mentioned in a previous post about leaving talent on the bench, not so "Mighty Mo" puts in his #1 quarterback to play safety, in addition to being quarterback. Evidently, there isn't one of his 76 benchwarmers he can't put into that position?
I say Coach, coach! You have 98 kids on your varsity "team"! 76 of them YOU evidently have'nt taught or coached well enough because you keep them on the bench. What kind of teacher are you if your kids ain't learnin'? If you trusted your abilities as a coach, you would put some of these kids in!...and you wouldn't have to risk the health of your #1 quarterback! Live dangerously coach! Take a chance on your bench! I bet you'll be pleasently surprised by a few of your boys! Reality check here, not so "Mighty Mo", so far YOU do not have a "winning" team! What do you have to lose by putting in some different meat? Are you afraid of what you might have and admitting you made some wrong judgements?
Who said that they found a way to stop McBride. Wake up, 156 yards rushing and a 96 yard kick off return. Lack of passing game was exposed. If LA can muster up some sort of a passing game down the stretch they will be dangerous. Big loss to the Conquerors in loosing Contreras, broken leg.

Obviously you are new to this site. Your comments regarding Damien's running back was posted by blogger "GHS"...not me.

Conq'76, I'm beginning to admire you. At least you are a realist.
Tough top ten decisions this week.
Dan, you are absolutely correct about the poor tackling. I was sitting near the press box, and could hear RC coaches calling our plays. One in particular was a first down, when (we would normally run)and the (RC) was shouting watch the play action, blitzed and blew up the play. SO i think RC coaches had our tendencies pretty good, and did an excellent job preparing their team. I am not a coach, just an observer, and it seemed to me that WC stayed in the same 'man' defense the entire game, with two LB 'Dogs', DE's running strait to QB with no concern for contain. Now, being the optimist (myopian?) that I am, I am going to say this is all in the grand scheme of the WestCo coaching staff to A) Bring the youngsters along slowly, and B) Not put anything but base defenses on film for their San Ant. league rivals.
WHAT IS THIS! CHARTER OAKS DOSN'T PLAY THEIR #1 THREAT AND LEADING RUSHER SNOWDEN (#4) AND ALL DAMIEN CAN DO IS TIE THE GAME? WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF CHARTER OAK PLAYED FULL STRENGTH? DAMIEN WOULD HAVE LOST BIG TIME!!! REMEMBER, SNOWDEN ALSO IS A MAJOR STUD ON DEFENSE AND SPECIAL TEAMS.
DAMIEN WILL NEED SOME HELP IF THEY THINK THEY ARE GOING TO COMPETE WITH GLENDORA.
dranch won 15-12 without many key starters. not 15-15
There is always a fight over at duarte. With the basketball team last year. Jeez. Coaches over there need to be corrected
I knew it was only a matter of time till someone found the weakness that is our secondary. That was embarassing! LA defensive coordinator should be ashamed of himself for that scheme. He left the kids out to dry! They put 21 pts. on our kids in 9 minutes because we were playing a crappy coverage. By the time we figured it out it was too late.
We lost to a better, more prepared team tonight folks. Give St. Francis credit, for the second straight year they just came out and whooped our ass!
SKRID. Some how you miss read my posts. I believe it is my fault. I compare my team with the Best of the Best (USA). I guess that would include your team as well. No disrespect intended. I have never been beat up from anyone from LV, but I dated this girl from Covina.. thats another story..I have no beef with you and I hope you feel the same. Understand one issue.. The Div 2 cif champ needs to beat CORONA centenial#2 in the USA. No pressure there. Think what that involves and what our kids face every game. Not a league issue. not a division issue..Not a state issue.. Our kids play at the highest level SO. CAL. WE are the best. I support you, SGV and So Cal..AS for eye color, my eyes are deep blue with a gold halo,my kids eyes are dark brown like thier mothers....All our blood is AMERICAN RED.. God bless you and America..
Dan as usual- What a great take!
About Glendora being #1. Well that's tough when CO are technically undefeated. Or in Glendora terms half a game better than the Tartans! Beat Damien and then you're #1. I've seen GHS twice this year and they are very very good. Defense is very good, Kovar and front 7 are impressive. But the LBs make it all so painful. Vega is a horse. QB K is solid. Freshmen Gonzalez is starting as a Freshmen! And the scary thing is they could be alot better when the Sierra League rolls around. Coach P is calling a great game. Toyed with Western on Thursday. Coach P is incredible. He's a winner and a winner maker.
Amat. STFU. nuff said.
Plaid Lad. Damien doesn't have a STUD running back. The one you must be referring too has been hurt 75% of his varsity playing time and a broken leg puts him out this year. So when was he a stud? After seeing your team twice I still believe the best is yet to come for GHS so stay humble. Damien might beat you 28 14 just as easily as you beat then 35 to 7. But 1st El Dorado.
its time to the remove the bp coaching staff...they cant win a close game and they are misusing all of their talent...the o sucks! somebody buy these guys a clue! embarrassing loss to a much weaker team, flat out got out-coached
WF, I'm still trying to make sense of your usa reference. If thats a jab at my blonde haired, green eyed, red blooded american family that is traced to the late 1700's than bring it on. Oh yeah, just because your in a division with a highly ranked team doesn't make your team good. I'm going to sign off before I get kicked off this site WHITE HOOD but if you ever want to hook up for a chat, I live in LV.

Congrats LP Warriors and Coach Hernandez for a very impressive win against Workman.
Go Warriors!
YES GLADSTONE LOST TWICE IF THEY DID NOT TRY TO TAKE CHRIS HARRIS OUT AT THE KNEES AFTER THE PLAY WAS OVER THEY COULD OF LOST WITH SOME COURAGE AND NOT SORE LOOSER LIKE THEY ARE AND EVERYONE AT THE GAME WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THEM THAT WAY AS SORE LOOSERS.

Rancho 42 West Co 21,
Ouch that hurts! well we got an idea where our Bulldogs are at and there is some work that needs to be done. Tackling was an issue tonight for our,
young team,I think our boys forgot how, I've never seen so many occasions where a tackler has the ball carrier in his grasp & then slide right down his body this is with two hands wrapped around the ball carrier. The Bulldogs started well & it looked like it was going to be a good night, but then the tackling started to go south.
I also think speed had a lot to do with the poor tackling, the Cougars had several kids with break away speed, & I think that caused our kids to be off balance or out of position when they were tackling causing them to reach with their arms, I also saw a few times where our kids misjudged the speed and took the wrong angle towards the runner.
The good news is we have a sophmore QB that can throw the ball,This kid is going to be a good one, once the Cougars adjusted to our running game & slowed it down we were able to get the passing game working & that openned the run game again, the only problem is that it was to late in the game because the Cougars had done their damage.
Other good news is we are young & still learning, and we can improve with this kind of experience, next up is Ayala, another tough game.
GHS,
I was pointing out for you glendora fan that co tied withOUT snowden, I thought narrow-minded GHS would be happy with that news. I also think it's an unwritten rule in HS that any defending champ in most cases will hold on to #1 until they lose the following year. I also have no idea who El DO has played thus far but I know they lost some serious horses from last year. I guess the sierra is ok with the many good close losses this year.
Skrid, West Ranch was rated higher than any team around. Fox news and KCAL were at Citrus last night. Didn't get the story they came for. Oh well. Our division has the #2 team in the country (United States Of America) Who is your # 1 for the valley? Honestly?
i believe SF should be #1 in ur rankings they pounded on LA!!! GO KNIGHTS!!
At Last...Reality Sets In.
I say again...Strength of Schedule is Key.
Skrid,
Now you're starting to sound whiney. Yes Snowden's a stud and was the difference in our game, but you still gotta find a way to overcome a loss of any player if you're good. The guy that was working best for us that night had his legs cut out from under him and in the end, we didn't step up. We learned our lesson this week (and hopefully in weeks to come). Damien is obviously starting to learn to play without their stud back since losing him before the season. Nice work Spartans holding up some Sierra pride. Ayala too...what happened to DRanch! I can't wait to read the story on that game. And DBar showed well; Chino Hills also got a close win over a tough Etiwanda. Solid week in the Sierra. As for next week's opponant for us Skrid, I like how you are already discounting them for us. Fact is, they look like they have reloaded and are tops in YOUR division...you DID imply that CIF rankings are real valid this time of year, didn't you? Don't worry about our ranking though, it will come soon enough. CIF voters who put CHINO in the top 10 are obviously not paying very close attention to all the teams so far. That will change & the cream will rise. Yes, I am confident that will include GHS, but the games still must be played and each week is a new challange. We'll try and take care of that nasty El Do pain for you though and help you move up in your division where you may belong.
*their coach (not coaching)
This is west ranch first senior class in school history and they are a power house. What is the record so far this year, Miramonte vs Sierra is it 3-0-1 or 4-0-1?
gladstone got beat twice? except that duarte was classless...their coaching alledging kicking one of our kids - their lack of sportsmanship is really bad and only got worse tonight. i'm glad that i root for the gladiators and not the falcons.
GO FALCONS....
Gladstone got beat twice tonight....
WE are talking SGV top ten. Our division has 3 teams in the countries (USA) top 20. Who is better than Glendora this week in the SGV? CO kissed Damien yuck!!! btw EL DO IS next week..
TM,
Did you go to Rosemead?
White flag, El Do lost 16 starters from last years championship team, I hope you can handle them. Why don't you get ranked in the top ten in your division and beat other "smaller" teams in the valley before we start hearing this crap again.
SKRID, He played one hell of a game last week. I got tired watching him. Damien doesn't know what they missed. Lucky them!
It's time to yank Tamayo. Please, Gano swallow your pride. Do what's best for your team. Longoria, Tillis, Zamora, I don't care, just yank Tamayo, please!
CO ties Damien..Diamond Ranch squeeks by Ayala..Los Altos pounded..Glendora Pounds West Ranch.. GLENDORA APPEARS TO BE # 1.. What a difference a week makes..
Yes C ROME, he was dinged up and still a little tired from all that running he did last friday against your tartans. Big Lou wanted nothing more than to hold out his one player that hardly leaves the field to even it out. I am already picking Glendora in that matchup later this year. Ouch that hurt.
Los Altoids lose to St. Francis. It was just a matter of time before teams figured a way to stop Bryce.
So who's gonna be #1 this week Fred?
News Flash
GANO LOSES BIG TIME TO ST. FRANCIS
STILL THINK YOUR THAT POWERHOUSE LOL
ITS CALLED A GOOD A-- WHIPPING!
Why didnt Snowden play? Is he hurt? btw Damien was without their running back as well. Was Big Lou being a good sport?
NO OT For CO , Pre Season game really has no importance otherwise OT . Correct me If I Am wrong . RHS Panthers 3-1 and on a Run .
CO tied Damien without Snowden tonight, if anyone knew he wasn't playing tonight they wouldn't have given CO a shot.
Damien played CO to a tie? What happen to OT?
See what I mean, Rancho Cucamonga is no slouch. They are a young team but have good size and speed. Amat beat them without Wagner and Austin.
You kids that stretch a ball out to reach the endzone, just quit it will ya. your not big time and evenuatlly it will cost you
Hey I give my love to Wescove, but Rancho Cucamonga is no slouch just because Amat only beat them by 16 points.
I'll root for the Bulldogs, but I think Rancho will win a close one if their young QB has a solid game and no giveaways.
Cover them for the paper? Believe it or not, more people are still buying the paper than they're blogging. And besides, nothing wrong with trying to attract more bloggers by featuring other games.
Cover them for the paper and show the games here that the bloggers want to see. Why waste your time and coverage of a team that no one is watching? Thanks for verifying my point.
Bill, I don't decide games based on the popularity of schools on this blog. There are thousands, and thousands of high school fans who don't blog, or use the internet much. Look at last week, there were an estimated 4,000 fans at the BPark-Sierra Vista game, yet you hardly see any of their fans blogging. Should I ignore that segment of the SGV because you don't see them blogging here?
Fred,
I know you are trying to defend your selection but I am not buying it. The Mid-Valley league is full of lower level teams. Under the old CIF system of ranking schools what was Duarte like division 10 or 11? On this blog how many people do you think really care about Duarte and Sadstone? If you took a poll of which teams people would want to see highlights of these two would be at the bottom of list. Stick with the top teams in the area.
Bill, Duarte hasn't been on the cover yet. You don't think a team top-ranked team in its own division deserves front page coverage at least once? You don't think a game that will ultimately decide the Montview League title deserves its Friday night headlines?
Fred,
I can look at the schedule above and pick at least 5 to 6 games more deserving than Gladstone and Duarte. What is wrong with seeing the above teams you mentioned?
To Sad Plad:
The Tribune's main focus should be covering the best game on the schedule regardless of the coaches, players and fans of the local teams. No one wants to watch an overrated Duarte team against a Gladstone team that will be overmatched. This game will be a blow out. My team has nothing to do with the best game to watch highlights of. This shows your lack of intelligence which seems typical of most Glendora( nose in the air) Tartan fans.
good job boys
Kudos to Glendora football team. Here is a "home grown" football team that doesn't back down to competition, unlike LA. You have my respect and #1 vote.
Good luck against El Do next week!
Looking forward to the game next week. Glendora vs. El Do. We (El Do) have nice memories of Citrus College Stadium.
I'm looking forward to a great game.
Response to: BILL
Hey, alittle rough on Gladstone and Duarte, aren't you? What makes you think that the fans, coaches, and players, of those two teams don't deserve to be SGV's game of the week?
By you (Bill) not posting your home team by name, your only exposing your own lack of confidence in whoever you claim to support.
FYI: Best of luck to Gladstone and Duarte....play hard to quail your under the bleacher critics.
PLAID LAD
Thanks Bill, the best game to you might not be the best game for everyone else. Duarte's the top-ranked team in the Mid-Valley Division, and Gladstone might be the only team in the Montview to give them a game...Can't feature the Glendora's, Damien's, Charter Oak's, South Hills, Los Altos', etc, every week.
Gladstone and Duarte? whose picking these crappy games? You should be picking the best games of the week and not just covering all areas.
test
Plaidy,
How did I get mentioned in that "rant" from anonymous?........laughing. Must be that Rome/Clone connection.
Next week is going to be a test for us, if you know what I mean. I do have some concerns but not the time now to get into them. Someone said a win is a win. I'll take it, but we have a lot of work to prepare for "EL DO" then a hungry Damien to follow.
Late!

hey Rome Clown your kidding right?
Patrick,
Diamond Bar looks to be the real deal. I like what John Martin has done there. If they are able to run the ball the rest of the season like they did Thursday, this is a team that can do a lot of damage in the Sierra League. I liked they way they mixed in some sweeps with QB Hunter Warren. They really had Troy guessing. This was a game that Diamond Bar should have won.
On another note, UCLA fans should be very pleased with Troy's Derrick Walker. He's the real deal...if they can keep him.
Question: Are any of you having problems posting comments??? If you have an AOL web browser, use something else. We're having problems with it. Also, if you were blocked and are unblocked now, let us know..trying to identify how many have been affected.
Congratulations GLENDORA!!!
Wish I could have been there to see it.
Nice way to represent the Valley. You moved past last week and proved that you are a very good team. Hope # 20 gets better soon.
TRIBUNE.. I second, what Plaid Lad said about Mr. Honell. Is it possible to have Mr. Honell cover the remainder of our games? Fred and Steve are terrific reporters, but cant cover every game. As a little kid would say.. "DIBS" on John Honell..
Comment to: Tribune
Reading the paper his morning made me think what a great job Correspondent John Honell did upon covering our game last night against West Ranch.
As noted, Honell actually took the time and effort to obtain a team roster and followed the game matching numbered jersey's with player's names. What a novel idea.
My sarcasizm is not meant for Mr. Honell because I truely enjoyed your style of journalism and connection with the game.
If this blog makes anyone take notice, it should be the regulars that write everyday in our local paper.
Reading of names and accomplishments other then who scored or who passed for yards is what each kid that buries himself in the trenches want to read about. Fans and coaches alike also appreciate the efforts of a solid sports writer like Honell.
FYI: Honell great professional effort..thank you. I'd like to read about all of the SGV teams and players that make it happen every week.
PLAID LAD
The reason San Dimas is not rated higher is simple, their opponents combined record is 3-12. With those 3 wins coming against Ganesha, La Puente, and Nogales.
Truth Be Told...
I was leary of this years Conq squad, fearing that the over-achieving team of last year which was losing the guns they had, Castaneda, Foss and Thomas, was going to be thumped more than once. So now, I get to enjoy some "healthy entertainment" by a very competitive team at the level in which they play, and somehow that has translated into a lot of chest thumping from other SGV faithful asserting that their program is greater than LA.
Maybe so, but I know I didn't have a vote on the SGV top ten, and knowing I have not seen anyone other than LA and its opponents, I would only be voting with my heart if asked to do so.
Good luck Amat, I hope your fortunes turn in a very difficult league schedule, but I seriously believe you should consider the idea of lobbying for a re-assignment of divisions. The demographics of the SGV sure ain't what it used to be but if pride is keeping you from seeking such a realignment, like I said, I wish you luck.
Ranking Gladstone that high two years ago was a joke anyway. That's why the divisions realligned.
aHead of yourself, Miscues? Forced turnovers are not miscues. Fumbles caused and recovered. Passes intercepted. Defense holding to one touchdown. Second one given up by reserves. Big O scoring 28 points. Please check with your husband before you make comments on this blog..And Glendora thanks you for your support.
Thanks ,
I have changed my blogs here a little . Less sarcasm , more POSITIVE with a LITTLE SARCASM .I hope all SGV teams understand I do not like to write NEGATIVE comments , but I call it like I see it .
FIGHT ON

trojan man:
i enjoy when you blog. u r pretty much straight forward and yet at the same time, you really don't put down a team
Don't get ahead of ourselves...
COME ON ...Here we go again . Glendora WINS , we come & praise our boys & CERTAIN BLOGGERS piss on our fun . LEAVE US ALONE . How do you know EL D will not have three turnovers , with our D NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE . GREAT WIN TARTANS !
NOW ENJOY THE WEEKEND & BE READY FOR NEXT WEEK !
IT GET'S TOUGHER EVERY WEEK , FROM HERE ON OUT !
" BE THE BEST "

Isaac Tucker 370 yards 6 touchdowns
Take away those miscues that West Ranch had and then what? It's a whole different ball game. Realizing thats a what if, Glendora right now is a onesided team. The passing game isnt on track yet. and the defense keeps them in games. Thats not going to cut it when Glendora plays the big guns. A win is a win, but there is a big BUT coming.El Do and league play is just around the corner then what? El Do isn't going to turn the ball over three times.
R E S P E C T !
You earned some last night Glendora . GREAT WIN !
Your on your way . 4 down , and let's hope 10 more to go ! GUESS WHO'S BACK ....THE TARTANS !!!
FIGHT ON !!!

I guess Gladstone might score a touchdown against Duarte?? I would say that Duarte should win by at least 3 touchdowns. I will say 35-7 or 35-14.
Furthermore, I completely agree with the Duarte's coaches comments about wanting to win a CIF championship. I also agree with the comment he made about Gladstone's coaches. They were the number #2 seed (with this big and talented running back) a few years ago. But, they complained about playing a 4th place team from the Santa Barbara area. They ended up losing the game because they did come out flat in the first half.
went to DB Troy game db looks for real had the lead 38 to 35 with 38 seconda left but troy pulled it out.looks like db could be a factor in the sierra league.
Solid win GT! We got caught on a safety blitz on West Ranch's first possession...the draw play broke thru out Linebackers and there was no one there. That 60 yard run for TD was about all the Ranch offense did all night. Very late TD was meaningless. Their 3 TO's helped us a lot and our boys played very disciplined ball (no TO's and just a couple of penalties that I can remember). Nice win, move on and get ready for your toughest test yet. D6's number 1 ranked team, El Dorodo comes to town next Thursday.
Fred, can you post some final stats ??
Glendora 28-14 final
Final....
Troy 42 DB 38.....
Troy 42 DB 38...34 seconds in 4th
Glendora game over?28-14?
Do you know who had the Glendora TD's?
patrick, you got the score right, steve called in with troy leading 35-31
Troy 35, DBar 31 through three, Glendora up 21-7 after three..
Okay its gonna be a long night even though not too much time left in game....
The FG was the pivotal turning point.....
DB should'nt have settled for FG inside the Warrior 10 yrd line instead of go ahead TD...NOW it gets tough!!
Troy 28 DB 28...
middle of 3rd qtr....
DB is having issues taking down Coleman from Troy...Need a quick fix or its gonna be a long night...This guys seems to score at will
Diamond Bar 28 Troy 21 ...
at the half!
Glendora 14-7 at the half...It was 7-7 with 20 seconds and the Tartans were facing a third-and-four at about the eight...Pasqy was screaming for a timeout but the ref didn't hear him - the play went on and the Tartans scored to take the lead.
Ranch 7 GT 0 1st QTR
Come on Tartans! You can do it!
Troy 14 Diamond Bar 7....
end of 1st qtr
Hey Steve,
Im very interested in how you think things match up with Diamond Bar vs Troy. I see you are giving the Brahmas the nod...(I am too)
Numbers wise , things look scary when you look at Troys stats, HOWEVER, Brea did manage to hold them to 34 pts.
Could this actually be a very interesting ending??
What are you thoughts?
Good luck Brahmas!!
Win or lose walk away knowing you did your best.......
Fred:
Where Glendora on the scoreboard?
Where is Issac Tucker on that list? He beat two of the people on that list in one game! By my count he has 335 YARDS and that's just from the Locke and BP games. I can't find the Mater Dei story to give the rest of his stats. C'mon Fred show West Covina Some love.
Paredez/Bonita 9 Td's
Covina-4
West Valey-3
Canyon-2
Good luck Glendora & Diamond Bar,
Bring your "A" games tonight, you will both need it, these are two games against two opponents that will bring it, represent the SGV well boys.
fred,
If Brian Spirlin (DRanch)had twice as many carries as he does he would have 800 yards. And he did that against Edison,Chino Hills and Cristian San Diego three very good teams.Who knows if we had Rosemead and Long Beach Wilson at the beginning he might be at 1200 yds!.Fred lets also give alot of credit to the OL for DRanch.Pretty good size and seem's to be one of the quickest lines in sgv.
Excited for a very good game tonight at Citrus College! West Ranch is said to have a big line and a very good offense. Should be a fun matchup with the Tartan D. Go get'em boys! Opened up the Trib. today, got out my magnifying glass and read the few lines there about the game tonight to get me pumped up. lol...Just givin you a hard time Freddy. Hope to see you there and hope we put on a good show. Should be a solid crowd, even on a Thursday night. Stop by for some tailgate grub if you get there early :)
These players would be on the list right now.
