4. St. Lucy's (4-4)
5. Bonita (3-2)
6. Glendora (3-2)

COMMENTS:
The Conquerors, led by OH Jade Esquivel, finished just fourth in the Miramonte League, but have jumped out strong this fall, winning 12 of 14 while playing a tough schedule. They have wins over St. Lucy's and Walnut. The Mustangs, keyed by Melissa Cole, have also looked solid, scoring a win over St. Lucy's, which entered the year as one of the top teams in the area. Diamond Bar, St. Lucy's and Bonita round out the top five.
THIS WEEK: There are two big matches to circle on your calendar. Bishop Amat travels to top-rated Los Altos and traditional-powers South Hills and St. Lucy's meet in Glendora. Bot matches are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

I think Bonita beat Glendora too.

Walnut beat Glendora a couple of weeks ago. It went 5 though.

Glendora is definitely a little better than st lucy...but diamond bar and bonita can not be better than Glendora ...Glendora should be #3 or even #2...Did Walnut play Glendora this year?? Glendora should beat Walnut.

Volleyball is improving in the San Gabriel Valley. It's not the garbage of the past. Our teams are making it deeper into CIF playoffs against beach city teams. Give credit where credit is due.

Los Altos beat Walnut 3-0 first game of the year.

Suggestion: Can we list predictions for each league in this area?

does walnut play Los altos this year??

Wow someone is doing free advertisment for those volleyball clubs....San Gabriel Valley Tribune should send a bill to those clubs since they make a fortune off those parents. Why is there no AYSO-type program for volleyball? Someone should look into it!!

No Volleyball talent in the 909/626/951 area code??? I think any person who actually watches volleyball would see the talent at Top Gun/Club West/Rancho Valley. All these clubs have players who were selected to the National team, won at Nationals & J.O's, or went to big name schools after graduating. Like it or not, Volleyball is no longer just a beach city game.

Speaking of starting as freshmen at St. Lucy's, their starting Varsity middle blocker #9 is a freshmen.

Anonymous said:

i dont think any players transfered in to st lucy ...they all started at the freshmen level

Anonymous said:

pomona catholic is also a private school...but i dont see them being a volleyball players magnet school...but i agree all teams are garbage in this area...welcome to 909/626/951 volleyball zone

Any update on the 'sanctions'?

all these teams are garbage

St. Lucy is all home grown. What does that mean? They're a private school.

Anonymous said:

Who has St. Lucy's beaten this year?

Anonymous said:

St lucy's does not have any players transfered in for the past 10 years, they are all home growned.

Anonymous said:

as usual...bonita is overrated again

Anonymous said:

The new CIF rankings have Bonita(3) ahead of Los Altos(4). Interesting.

FredJ said:

We're covering two volleyball games today for tomorrow's editions ... Ramirez is covering St. Lucy's-South Hills and I'm covering Bishop Amat-Los Altos...

Anonymous said:

St. Lucys always has a strong team. It doesn't seem to matter who coaches them. Does this school just draw the area talent by reputation?

AmatVolleyball said:

I like Bishop Amat tonight at Los Altos!!! Go Lady's!!!

Anonymous said:

I think the rankings are a good idea. Girls athletics should get their due.

Bonita high school is in La Verne. How is that consider to be in San Gabriel Valley? If they are being covered then Ayala, Chino, Chino Hills should be covered.

Wow, if Volleyball generates this much anger, what's the Smudgepot in store for?

No one would agree that an adult should beat up a kid or even get in to a altercation at all. At the time, I think the adult was doing what anyone would do. Protect your family. This young adult can sit behind the wheel of a car, but can not be held accountable for throwing bodily fluids at innocent people? If he was shooting a gun, you'd call the adult a hero for stopping him. What about BBP or HIV? Wouldn't know for sure and I'm sure nobody wants to see their family covered in urine. The rivalry, cheering, whatever, went out the window the minute that knucklehead starting throwing urine. If it was the wrong teenager and he wasn't pointing fingers at who actually was, than he's an accomplice. Much like the driver of a "drive by". It's a shame that any of it took place and ruined a great rivalry game. Those that brag about him being 180 lbs and can handle himself, than he could have made a mature decision not to act like a jackass! Or get his ass beat like a big man.

I predict this volley ball thread will generate about 20 hits

I assume Ayala is not considered in the "Valley Area"?

FredJ said:

Let's not talk about the fight here, I updated the other thread with Tuesday's story..I'm hoping those interested in volleyball will start commenting about their teams.

I just read the story regarding the Bonita/San Dimas High Volleyball game fight. The two parents have been contacted and discplined. What does that pertain? Did they get a timeout? Kristine Kulow said, Why dont you just let it die? I have one question. Was a student attacked and choked by an adult as San Dimas posters would have you believe? Or is it a lie? Why the white wash? People wonder why kids behave badly. Here's your answer.
