Fire Update: Glendora game moved to Monday. Baldwin Park still on. Orange County cancels all games

Tonight's scheduled games
Baldwin Park vs. Pomona at Ganesha, 7 p.m.
Glendora at Chino, 7 p.m., Monday, 7 p.m..

Live blogging of today's events, with updates as soon as we get them ....

4:35 p.m. -- Just finished my final round of phone calls with coaches, and everything scheduled for Friday is still on. In fact, nearly every coach I talked to sounded optimistic about getting the games in. If there are any cancellations on Friday, I'll let you know as soon as I can. Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

3:54 p.m. -- Glendora school officials said they will not play on Friday. They're hoping to play on Saturday instead.

3:50 p.m. -- It is official, Baldwin Park is playing tonight vs. Pomona at Ganesha, 7 p.m.

12:18: p.m. -- Glendora athletic director Brock Jacobsen said their game against Chino has been postponed because of poor air quality. They will try to reschedule it for Friday, but have not determined a site. Chino High School is unavailable, so they're looking at the possibility of playing at Chino Hills High.

11:51 a.m. -- Whittier Daily News reporter Roger Murray informed me that the Whittier School District has postponed all outdoor athletic events through at least Friday. This means all Del Rio League football games scheduled for Friday (La Serna-California; El Rancho-Whittier, and Santa Fe-Pioneer) have been postponed. They're discussing the possibility of play them on Saturday instead.

10:45 a.m. -- Los Altos coach Greg Gano said that he expects to play Friday's game against Charter Oak. He said the Hacienda Heights school district has given them the green light to do a light practice today. Also, at Rowland, coach Craig Snyder said they will take a wait and see approach and make a final decision on whether to play Friday's game against South Hills on Friday. As of now, the plan is to play the game.

10:18 a.m. -- Went to L.A. Times website, in which reporter Dan Arrittt reports that all football games scheduled to be played this week in Orange County have been canceled, according to county superintendent Bill Habermehl, who spoke on Fox news this morning and said:
"We had a conference call with all of our districts and superintendents and their representatives this morning to talk about the air quality and the decision about, not only athletics, but other extracurricular activities, and the weather and air is so bad here in Orange County and all of Southern California that all 15 of our district superintendents decided to cancel all athletic events and extracurricular activities through the weekend."

10:05 a.m. -- I spoke with Glendora officials, who repeated that they will wait until noon to make a decision on whether to play tonight's game at Chino. The alternative is to play at Downey High School.

9:54 a.m. -- Just got off the phone with Baldwin Park athletic director Mike Zimmerman who told me that Baldwin Park's game vs. Pomona at Ganesha tonight is still on.
"We're doing everything possible to get it played," Zimmerman said. "We're monitoring the situation closely, and would never put kids health in jeopardy. Unless something drastic changes, the plan is to play the game tonight. Our bus leaves at 4 p.m., so we have until then to make a final decision. But as of now, the game is on."

Thursday's game and predictions
Baldwin Park vs. Pomona at Ganesha, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (BPark), Rameriz (BPark)

To all Lancer Faithful, Anti Verti fans:

Silence is golden. Let's not air our dirty laundry here anymore only for everyone to see and to ridicule. If we all have a valid complaint or concern, let our voices be heard through e-mail or write a letter to Msgr Carroll.

Let's not give the cockroaches, slugs and snails like Gilpin more fuel for his venom.

duarte and bridgetown

I say Ol'Boy..this is my personal apology to all the DRHS fans, because Mrs.Princ's and Coach Layton used me as homing-pigeon to deliver that special athletes trans-papers to the CIF headquarters and.....well, you know the rest of the big story.

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

Duarte and La Puente next Friday!!!

Both undefeated

55-5. Wow....I'm totally speechless. Another low. How much more do we need take of this? We were 8 wins against Crespi to their 0 wins against us before Verti took over. Now we are 0-2 against Crespi. St. Paul's game against Crespi was not a blow out, but ours was. How do you figure?

The writing on the wall was there for all to see as this blow out was inevitable as it will be the rest of the next two games. Our boys have been humiliated, demoralized and our progbram is in shambles..it took many solid years to built it only to have it literally destroyed overnight by this selfish little boy wannabe coach.

When kids were leaving, I was told..they weren't true Lancers or they didn't deserve to be on the team. Well guess what, keep this crap up and you won't have a team next year.

How much longer can one stand back and support this coach any longer? I have kept silent and supported him, but enough is enough.

Grow up, be a man and quit now Verti.

Bishop Amat loses to Crespi 55-05.

When do you pull the plug on a head coach?

How much embarrassment can one person take?

Parents spend time & money to watch their kids.

Hopefully succeed & earn atheletic scholarships.

Will this head coach be selfish like the last?

The last head coach quit, due to failure.

He was at Bishop Amat way too long & it shows.

Then Amat hires his asst coach, nothing changes.

No wonder twenty some players transfered out.

The parents & loyal fans are all suffering.

Bishop Amat is known for football.

Football put Amat on the map.

Now the great teams of Amat is a past tense.

Amat can win a million CIF championships.

In girls basketball, baseball & cross country.

But will only be known for its football program.

It is sad to see a program like Amat fail.

They are below average & not even mediocre.

This coach needs to resign.

He's humiliating his family, friends & staff.

His wife has to defend him in the stands.

How sad is that? Emberrassing I must say.

He was never prepared for a program like Amat.

Not enough knowledge, tenacity or personality.

Amat deserves the best & needs to realize it.

There is way too much pride & tradition not too.

Amat deserves all the bad publicity,

the negative write-ups from former players,

and the poor rankings the Tribune gives them.

You pay for what you get.

I would like to say thank you to Msgr. Carroll.

Your the reason St. Paul's program went down

the drain & now your the reason why Bishop Amat

is a losing program. We were better without you.

You have brought nothing, but shame to our

program. You took away the fiesta which kept

tuition down for all students. You put up a gym

with no individual coaching rooms and you think

your somebody. Football payed for that gym and

most of the schools expenses. If anything you

should of built a stadium for Amat's football

team. I can't wait till you retire. That way

things can go back to normal. To the once known

nationally ranked & high profile program it once

was in the past. Yours truely, Lancer Lunatic

Got any WHISKEY Irish bird , I am sure you do . After what the Trojans did to the Irish last weekend , IT MIGHT BE ALL GONE .

Pigeons are the Trojans of the bird world.
I got to see that again
Jeckle is going to love this..

TM -- My dimwitted Trojan helmet toting friend, we are dam crows!...We have no jobs for we have no need. We live off the scraps you leave behind and additionally we have the wing power to fly away when things become too messy to deal with.....we are proud to be free-birds as we skirt the scenes and flip everyone the BIRD.

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

Here is what Trojans do to birds ...

HOW DO YOU TWO HAVE SO MUCH TIME ?

TM

Heckle -- Ol'boy you are once again wrong about this bird because TM is of stout character and would never WORK......let alone work for FEMA.

I say ol'chap, isn't FEMA pigeon-english for FEMALE?

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

Heckle -- isn't great to be out of the crows nest? Simply loved your expositive humor toward that Plaid fellow. Hope the ol'chap is not angered and attempts to towel-snap us with his kilt again....I'm much too old to loss more feathers.

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

Jeckle
I think TM works for FEMA

Same ??? ALL THE TIME , NO I Have a GREAT JOB . Just kind of BORED here @ work . By the way Claremont is NOT SGV . SGV stops @ 57 . West to the 710 .

TM

Q: Do you know why Plaid Lad wears a Kilt?

A: Sheep can hear a zipper, a mile away.

Trojan Man --- I say ol'boy you definitely are a constant on this site. Would you happen to be retired, retarded, or just plain unemployed?

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

I heard he ate some bad roast beef.

That 70's Show

Well, now my bird brain friends ---- Here's alittle trivia...did ya happen to notice that FRED ROBELEDO looks alot like FEZ (Wilmer Valderrama)from "That 70's Show."

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

TM
I remember TC in the 70s
Check out Claremont in the forties.
I believe I saw CIF banners in their gym

Poor Heckle -- I just received word that he contracted the West Nile Virus by staring at Plaid Lads exposed hairy legs under that womans skirt he always wears.

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

YOU BIRDS CRACK ME UP ...

Trojan Man

I once completed a pronounced fly-bye hit on the crowning helmet of a Trojan on a white horse.....are you one in the same?

Tally-Hoo and a way I go!

Heckle...Hiddy-Hoo ol'Boy....glad to see you give us a fly-bye over this mount of rubbish. What do you think about all the Amat peeps that chuck hate at their own game? Amat birds think they are proud owners of the football farm. Sorry, to say ol'chaps, but your farm got smoked-out long before anyone declared FIRE!

Sorry guys , but enough is ENOUGH . If ANYONE put the SGV on the map it was Temple City on their run in the 70's .FACT . If I mention the SGV to anybody & I DO QUITE OFTEN her @ Work , MOST remember TC 's run . And OF course people KNOW ABOUT Bishop Amat .

go lancers,
did she tell them the truth and say we (used to be )

Lancer 2 dn,
The rest of the SGV schools can thank Amat and the class of '08 for giving them players worth talking about!!! And a chance for them to have a little glory.

GO Lancers
You Amat people only see and hear what you want.
Some dude in Florida, hitting on your wife, pretends to know her high school and you sit there nodding your head with a big silly grin. What happened next?
Tell us more about your wife. She sounds interesting.

LANCER 2 DN

Cheeri-O ol'boy!...you difinitely have a jaded image as what a true "HATER" looks like. Maybe Santa Claus will bring all of you Amat fans a full-length mirror so you can check out what has been growing this season under all the stress of failure.

You do believe in the round belly chap don't you?

Tally-hoo and a way I go!

TO: Tribune and GHS fans

Okay it's official...The Chino Hills / Ayala (Friday) game was postponed as well as the (Saturday) Chino / GHS game.

All four high schools are scheduled to do battle on MONDAY at the same locations, times, etc....as planned.

FYI: Try not to get on each others nerves over the long weekend without your fix of high school football.

PLAID LAD

Lancer 2 dn,

Aint that the truth. Not to sound arrogant but it was Amat that put SGV on the map. During a business trip in Florida, an area businessman had asked my wife (Amat alum 82) what schools she attended. When she finished naming her high school, the man responded with "I've heard of that school, great football program huh?"

Coach Spoon, give this man some credit y'all

The guy running with the flag is Stremple. His son is #69 and his other son played with mine on the last League Championship team in 2001 with McaluCleskey, Lange, Simon, Walker et al.

Regarding the freshman to senior class issue. The Amat senior squad when they were freshmans in 2004 (Wells, McBride, Bonilla, Maciel, Saenez, Crespo, Wagner, Ray, et al), beat:

Vista 18 - 7
Charter Oak 40 - 0
Glendora 32 - 0
Valencia 46 - 14
Loyola 21 - 14
S. Margarita 13 - 7
Servite 34 - 7
Mater Dei 0 - 0 tie

Hmmmm....tied Mater Dei who is the #1 team in the state, beat Vista who beat a good Mission Viejo team, beat Servite who is a top 10 team in the state, and beat the crap out of current SGV superpowers CO and Glendora.

So you can imagine what this current senior squad combined with a talented junior squad was capable of in Pac5 competition. What they would have accomplished this year with a good competent coaching staff leaves much to my imagination. The entire SGV would have been proud and envious of us.

Unfortunately, administration, attrition, grades, disciplinary issues, tuition would not let us have our cake and eat it too.

Heckle and jeckle,

Dont hate on our Lancers, at least we have a established past that people know us for. When you talk SGV football with someone outside the area they know who Bishop Amat is. You say South Hills or Los Altos and they look at you like who? We will return to glory again, it is not our time or era right now. We will not be held down for long and we will be back and bashers like you will be there to watch and cheer once again.

Jcaz & it was a dream

You ol'chaps need to have your heads examined because the bird-brains from Amat are still stuck in the past.

It was a dream & still IS A DREAM !!!

Remember the good old days ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnXoFCcBOOg

I DO ...

I KNOW I KNOW ,

But it's Friday .

Jcaz
When Amat's current senior class were freshman, they were FRESHMAN league champs against Mater Dei, Servite, Santa Margarita, St. John Bosco, Loyola. First league championship since '92! They also beat up on Glendora and Charter Oak that year too! They were a great team with a lot of talent. But as you can see, they have all been dispersed throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Can you imagine if they had stayed together???

GOOD CALL ANONYMOUS . I had hoped GHS would be able to play , but if not . REVIEW FILM , GO OVER GAME PLAN , HAVE A GOOD MEAL & GET SOME EXTRA REST .This is TIME THAT CAN BE USED FOR ALOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS ,STAY FOCUSED MEN !!!

TM

TM you're a funny ol'chap, yuke, yuke, yuke! Be careful now, because when you happen to look up at me with your big gaping open mouth....I happen to be a pretty dam good aim...and I've been told it does not taste bitter-sweet...just ask Skrid.

Tally-hoo a way I go.

Heckle where are you my fine-feathered friend?

Word to the wise. Several schools were on the receiving end of postponed games last night, and that would included GHS. With the extra time off due to the delay this should remain a time to prepare for the upcoming game and not be used by some to PARTY, just because it is Friday night. Be responsible, and remain determined and loyal toward your team, and the best will play itself out.

One more for Heckle & Jeckle ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltzODUlrInk

HAVE A NICE DAY

TM

Heckle & Jeckle ;

You are growing on me ...STAY AWAY FROM THE CAR THOUGH .

TM

Heckle

I say ol'chap...cut out early and hit the hay-stack. Didn't get your message until the sun came back up. Busy today....lots of fly-bye's over Trojan Man's freshly washed wind shield and it would be remiss of me ol'chap if I forgot to drop a few on Benny Tone Deaf's neatly parted hair. Of course, who could forget David Brown From Down Town (Is a Douche)....his name threatens birds like me to poop all over him. Oh, got to fly, I can feel my lower bowel rumbling and their goes Joe Amat off to work...time for morning greetings. Tally-hoo and a way I go!

Amat Freshman Coach is Richard Parker Class of 83' and he's been a staple of the lower levels at Amat for over 20 years!!!

Very, Very dedicated, bleeds blue!!

Glad to see someone recognized him!! To think that he wasn't deemed worthy to be the Frosh Head Coach last year!!

Keep up the Great Work Park!!

Jcaz the guy with the amat flag running everytime they score is james stremple #69's dad.

Yoo, Jeckle
I was out doing a fly by over TMs windshield.
Now I am watching the W.S. God,I hate Boston.
Ugliest fans on earth other than Yankee fans of course
Just look at those pasty fools

Notes on Amat

Hope all is forgiven here.....anyway, just got back from the Freshman football game against Crespi. I got to tell you that the team looked very good eventhough Crespi came back at the end of the game.

I've been to a few of thier games this year and I must say that this coach, really shows a great deal of intensity on the field.

He has shown that he is will to mix it up a bit on the play calling. However, the only thing that really hurts this team is thier execution. But, that is to be expected at this level I suppose.

Still, it is only Freshman football that were talking about, but the hope here is that, they all stay arround long enough to become seniors at Amat. We shall see....

BTW, there really seems to be a great deal of very knowledgeable Amat football fans out there, and I was wondering how in the world these people know who we are going to play next year ?

Outside of league play, does anyone know who the schools are going to be ? Also, who is that guy in the stands who is always running up and down the bleachers with the Amat flag at the games anyway ? He shows a lot of spirit at the games.

GO TO THE COvsLA GAME!!!!!
IT WILL BE LEGIT SONNNNNN

TM,

Thanks for that OL clip, I needed a good laugh after a long day.

Yoo, Heckle are to out flying around or just sitting on top of a power line somewhere?

Geez, this really ought to come from the Hacienda homies, but...

Mexican – Casa Blanca and Casa Jimenez, both on Gale at Hacienda
Pizza/Meatballs – Nana's, a little further east on Gale

There is also pretty much every kind of chain repped over at the Puente Hills mall, just drive around the perimeter till you see what you want; Outback, TGIF, Olive garden, etc.

If you are feeling adventurous, keep heading east on Colima for every kind of asian food ever known, (a lot of them made from things you never heard of).

hey san dimas fans make all the noise you want friday night it will be the VIKINGS who will be marching in GO NORTHVIEW

fred, very nice of you giving the updates, thank you much

Thanks Don!

Fred, I know this is an SGV blog but the OC's Century league has reschedule their games for Monday followed by the regular scheduled game on Friday next week. El Do-EL Mo will be played at 4:00 and Villa Park-Brea at 7:00

A long week with no practice followed by 2 games within 5 days. This will be interesting.

Still need food ideas for Friday night in HH

Posted by: Benny Tone Deaf at October 25, 2007 04:11 PM
No OC Football this week so I think I'll come out and see CO vs. Los Altos on Friday. Can I come over the hill from La Habra or is it best to take the 60?

Straight over Hacienda or Colima probably works best.

Any good places to eat on that side of the hill?

No comment from here. I'll let the HH brethren take that one.

Update: GHS vs CHINO game

The game is now going to be played on Saturday (night) and not on Friday @ (unk loc)...stay tune for place and time.

On the way home I saw Mt View HS (JV'S) suited up against another team (unknown) playing ball with ref's and the whole'shmo. What gives? The air didn't look any cleaner along the San Gab wash then it does in Glendora. Guess they decided against the health issues.

PLAID LAD

plaid-lad is right. ghs will play chino on saturday. game may be played at chino hills because don lugo would be using chino but the location still isnt determined

HOT OFF THE PRESS:

GHS IS NOW PLAYING ON SATURDAY AND NOT FRIDAY.

LOCATION OF GAME IS UNDETERMINED @ TIME.

PLAID LAD

Postponed games

GHS fans the postponed game against Chino HS is a good thing.

Figuring that nature had to deal a better hand to us then the smoke filled air it begs us all to breath...maybe playing on Friday is a better situation for all concerned.

Health wise...it was the right decision to make and uphold.

On a logical level....playing at Chino Hills HS sounds a lot better then catching the dusty field over at Chino high.

Competitively speaking....Those coaches that planned on checking us out on a Thursday will have to think again.

COMING TO AN HS NEAR YOU ...

TM

no oc football! man... that is awful. now people will have to watch sgv football which is about as entertaining as watching the wnba or the pga golf tour (minus tiger woods)

Jamal?

Fred
What does the J stand for?

Does that go for JV and Freshmen games today as well?

Had to ask.

Yes please. I'm sure he is working 10+ hours as is.

really

Please Mr. Spacely, let me have a life outside of this

Fred
What about the remaining player, top ten? DBs, Tightends, punters, kickers, special teams We need more to complain about. When are these top tens coming out? How about a poll of the worst or best places to play.

Mark
Thank you for your deep insight

Fred,

I'd be very surprised if GHS/Chino game is moved. I heard as of yesturday things looked good there, so it would take a major change today. In other good news (well, not for Chino I guess) it looks like Horn & Beckwith will be back on Defense for the Tartans tonight. Time to man up guys and take care of business!

good to hear that they are protecting the kids
