Take off the blinders & Go see Tucker from West Covina play, He's something to talk about.

great jo oscar ive watched all your games this year and you have been great. Im sorry a about your ankle injury in week one. i know it really slowed you down and i can still see you limping on the sisdelines. I hope you get better and capture league.
Hey Mike are you sure it's his ankle or politics? You must be wearing a wrist brace after stuffing the poles for the politician.
mhm at October 15, 2007 09:11 PM
Jealousy of a kid is a bad thing! Grow up!
I hope and pray the Barbone's are proud of their son. He's a good athlete and a good kid and I really enjoyed coaching him in GJAA.

hands down nico barbone's #'s rock. and there is no way that mcbride could double his #'s...and yes everyone is talking about these two, because there really isn't anyone else to talk about...how about them apples?
and i must say that sd is now getting compared to teams in other divisions, because we are finally becoming a better team...we stomped bonita!!!
and just a little fyi...not only is barbone a great football player, he is a stand up guy!!! he gets great grades and is an amazing individual...far beyond some of the typical "jocks" that let their talent go to their heads!!! Good Luck this year sd, you guys really have a chance...
Robles is putting it together. He's finding his rhythm and getting better every week. One down four to go. Go get em Oscar

Its gets pretty old when all your here is MiraMonte league is the toughest in the SGV. Since when... this year?
Last time I checked SD just rolled one of your boys and dominated the entire game, and then you have balls to call people out...
And by the way, AMAT would kick your a-- right now, even if there down this year!
It’s pretty stupid to think any school that plays AMAT schedule YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT would roll Amat. Explain to me, when was the last time any school rolled AMAT in the Sgv?
Sorry dude, but you just don't get it!
It’s called parity for a reason! AMAT 73 at October 10, 2007 02:34 PM
conqedrealist,
No hate bro just stating you have no business calling on SD to schedule div 5 and up if you people won't do it either then you throw in your div x comment but when we say the same about your div 6 blanket it's a whole different story. Your one to talk about hate just read some of your own replys like the one to AMAT Rules. Is that hate or what would you call it. FB Fan as for your analogy on boxing why did Roy Jones step up to the heavyweight division . Because he had something to prove which for as much hot air as la blows they have something to prove and what better way than to beat AMAT the socalled heavyweight in your opinion. No that punch didn't hurt because being an old time LANCER I've been hit harder then that and I am still here ready for the next one.
"AMAT 73"
If you would have taken the time to read what I was responding to, (instead of just jumping on your usual hate scooter) you would realize it was just.
If you amat people would occasionally take the high road in these blogs, and think before you type, you'd have alot less haters looking to bust your balls all the time.
conqed realist,
What nerve you have comming on here and telling SD to load up and play 4-5 pac 5 teams next season . Why don't you guys step up and do that and see what happens. Just typical la , all talk no action. As a matter of fact why don't you just schedule one pac-5 game pre league game next season, AMAT. The reason you should play us is to back up all the b_llsh_t people like you talk only because you know Gano will never schedule the game.
Haven't seen Barbone but Mc Bride against Div II Damien was quite the show! He knocked the helmets off of at least 4 Damien would be tacklers. Vicious! That's saying something. McBride is a fantastic runner and punisher in the Maurice Drew mold. Power, speed and toughness. However, playing defense and offense equally well has to matter so my hat's off to Barbone. Best wishes to both. The fact that some people have seen both play and compare them is really a compliment to their teammates and coaches. Teams make great players reach new hieghts. Enjoy the show and may the best man win. Stay healthy guys.
Mahmud-McBride is averaging 216 yards with 11 touchdowns for the Conquerors (4-1), who moved to the top of the Tribune rankings today.

McBride is good, no doubt. But my vote goes to Barbone. This kid plays with TRUE GRIT!!! And his defensive game is equally as strong. Did you see that hit on the video from Friday night?
Posted by: Anonymous at October 9, 2007 12:43 PM
One more thing ROMY
I did see Nicos hit on the video from Friday night, if you call hitting a defenseless receiver a great hit then you must call McBride’s hits against the Damien defenders car crashes because that’s what they were. Don’t get me wrong Nico is a good player but I don’t think we are comparing apples to apples.
GREAT POINT ENOUGH SAID NO ONE HITS YOU LIKE MCBRIDE.

Tim gilmore is legit. Bryce is good 2. But having spoken to a couple of LA people. And seeing tim. I'd still say tim is the better of nico and bryce. Lets say they make the playoffs and carries the team. Does that put him as a candidate for the "heisman"?...but I mean both tim and bryce cuts are amazing. And tim is a lot stronger than he looks. I would not want get stiffed armed by any of these two backs
You read me wrong. I didn't say that division doesn't matter. I said that just because he plays at a lower division school, doesn't mean he couldn't play at a higher division.
If he moved into the Charter Oak School District, he would automatically be playing at a higher division school. And I believe he could play just as well.

"Amat Rules"
What exactly are you ruling these days? The cellar of the Pac 5?
Better hope the Slime doesn't beat you this year, 'cause then where will ya be, covered in crap, and smellin' worse.
But seriously, what reason does LA have to play you. The rest of the sgv (LA included) is already getting their (rightful) share of the local talent, that used to go to amat, because of your current inability to run your house.
And, why would amat want to play a lower division D6 school like LA, who they would be expected to beat anyway?
I don't see LA playing any D11 schools for so-called bragging rights...

What ranking are you looking at?
How many games does the info report?
ConqRealist at October 9, 2007 02:55 PM
Gano doesn't know squat. Never steps up with us!
Same old s--- from LA
Gilmore is good but playing for Wilson doesn't help him at all. He should Transfer to a better school.
YOU HERE THAT "TRANSFER"!
Wilson had "WEAK" first 5 week schedule.
"SHHS RULES"
We don't need to load up on Pac 5 teams, because Gano knows there's a difference, unlike the myopic SD (and SH's?) of the world.
I have nothing against SD, but facts are; McBride has 100 yards more than Nico, while playing stronger opponents.
"Wildcat"
Sounds like you boys are ready to step up, and take the wheel back this year. Better hope LA loses a few more starters to injury before we meet, otherwise it ain't gonna happen.
LA Conq,
You do have some valid points, but comparing Wilson's line with their opponents line and comparing Los Altos line with their opponents they played the match ups are very similar. Then you go by the numbers and Gilmore still has the edge.
Trojan Man,
I checked Nico is a junior also.
As far as Wilson going deep into the playoffs, being realistic no. As far as Wilson making the playoffs outside chance. Wilson doesn't have the depth or the talent that Los Altos has. I will give Wilson the edge on coaching, but you need more talent.
I do see a swing in the local talent especially over the next few years. Look at the freshman team at Los Altos over the last three years. The 2005 season over 100 kids (two teams), 2006 season 80 kids (two teams), and the 2007 season 35 kids (one team). These are the varsity kids of the future. I guess Gano has the X factor, transfers.
Wildcats @ Oct.09, 2007
Get your facts straight, as in grade, games played, so on and so on.......
Fact is if McBride played for San Dimas, there's no telling how many yards he would have because the teams on both sides would supposively be weeker (as you may think) and the odds would be the same as he has it now. Think about it!!
Wildcat...
The line isn't the only thing that Gilmore has that is the weakest of the three...try substituting "schedule" for "offensive line" and you'd also be correct. Think about it man, Gilmore has been getting these sick numbers against La Puente, John Glenn, etc. McBride has these yards against St. Francis, Damien, Western, etc. Don't get me wrong...I like Gilmore and think he's one of the best backs in the SGV...maybe the best! But your argument is flawed.
Which brings me to my next point...NONE of the argument on this thread will matter come December when the "High School Heisman" is handed out. As we all know, the Valley Player of the Year typically comes from a successful team that goes deep into the playoffs. With the losses we've had recently...who knows how deep we'll go in the playoffs or IF we'll even MAKE it there! You think Wilson is gonna make noise in the playoffs...come on! San Dimas? Maybe...I am not familiar enough with their division to speak intelligently about their playoff chances.
Point is, probably 80% of Freddy's decision on the POY will be made based upon performances that have not yet happened.
Good Luck Gentlemen...play hard and represent the SGV with pride and class!
Wildcat ...I believe Nico is also a Junior . These two will be even more fun to watch NEXT YEAR . Both of them possible D1 talent ?.?.
TM
Lets look at the numbers, Nico ranked 73rd in the state, McBride ranked 31st in the state, Gilmore rand 30th in the state. Gilmore by far has the weakest line of the three. Gilmore is a Junior and the other two are Seniors. Gilmore averages 11.51 yards per carry Mcbride 9.13 years per carry and Nico 9.28 yards per carry. You can talk all the crap you want but Gilmore is in a class of his own compared to Mcbride and Nico. Put Mcbride or Nico on Wilson and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Looks like LA's a little weak at only 325 Max. Only three plates and a couple of 5's
a 325 bench max is nothing to be shy about ( at any level ) especially in high school, this are legit numbers, I have personally seen these kids put up these plates, Quick Question...Have you ever put up 225?.....325 and 375 is a lot of weight for a high school kid....some of you guys just dont know, they may just be kids but the fact of the matter is they will throw me and you around like rag dolls
the RBS love happens at all levels RBS get love, thats jsut how it is....but its great to watch the ones we have
Fred,
It seems to me you're really into the running back position. That's the majority of what you seem to focus on.
I would like to see more info on all positions. Receivers, Quarterbacks, Linebackers, linemen and so on and more details on player accomplishments.
SEE ANON POST AT 11:30

Figure it out.. Not that hard to understand.
ooo....i dunno if i would go as far as to say that Barbone is STRONGER than McBride.....have you ever seen this kid in the weightroom, from what i hear he is the second strongest kid on the team, bench wise, Mcbrideis at 325 max, and Rodriguez was at 375, McBride may be short but he is not small by any means, this kid is a short boulder....but to be honest i have yet to see Barbone play or in person, im sure he is phenomenal or else he wouldnt be getting all this pub. good luck Barbone and McBride, you both sound like your gonna need it the rest of the way

So typicial from a LA fan! Last time I checked Barbone ran all over one of your Miramonte teams last Friday. Plus they are a smaller school with a smaller line.. Wow, speed and skilled players won out!
Last time I checked, didnt see you guys scheduling 4 or 5 Pac 5 teams every year?
Reply to Romy
How did you get to 360 yards a game that would only be possible if Nico would average 188 against the competition McBride played against (highly unlikely). I said if they switched teams pay attention. Also what do you mean level doesn't matter, that statement in itself is dumb. Let’s say we agree with what you said about level not meaning any thing, then that means you would agree with my next statement "Nico will average the same amount of yards as he does now in college" Think about it.
How are you going to have only Brian Partida in here. What About Jose Garay he's making big things happen with no Line and has about the same amount of yardage as Partida..
WHY IS IT ALWAYS ABOUT THE OFFENSIVE PLAYER?
WHEN DO THE DEFENSIVE PLAYERS GET RECOGNITION?
I would love to see if Mcbrige could line up 4 yards behind the QB, game in and game out and get yards.
Barbone just grinds them out... Talk about power!
"Romy"
If you think division doesn't matter, you're fooling yourself.
Tell the your SD coach to load up with 4, or 5 Pac-5 games next preseason, then come back here, and tell us that division doesn't matter.
Enjoy the security blanket of division X.
Hey Action
I can tell you this. Barbone is taller and way stronger than Mcbride. Speed and agility is the same but Barbone is simply an overall better athlete at his age right now!
Bryce is averaging 200+ yards a game against tougher teams. He's also doing this with a below average quarteback, teams putting 9 in the box, and over the last couple of games a depleted line. I haven't seen Barbone play in person, but what i saw on the highlights they don't compare. Bryce has more to offer when it comes to speed, stength and agility. He runs over anyone in front of him, runs by anyone that thinks that they have him in there grasps. My vote goes with Bryce.
TM
The amazing thing about Nico B is he's only a junior. Big, strong, fast and goes both ways.
If he gets a shot at the next level, could play either side of the ball.
Regarding Anonymous comments: I seriously doubt if McBride would double Barbones numbers. Barbone is averaging 188 yards per game. You are saying McBride would have over 360 per game? RIGHT!
I have seen this kid play. Have you? It doesn't matter what division he plays at... 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....HE will bring the numbers.
His talent, strength and capabilities shouldn't be judged on what division he plays at. He just happens to live in San Dimas. If he went to a school that had a D6, D5, D4, D3, D2, D1 school, he would still be playing RB and making numbers.
McBride is good, no doubt. But my vote goes to Barbone. This kid plays with TRUE GRIT!!! And his defensive game is equally as strong. Did you see that hit on the video from Friday night?
Go Nico!
Anonymous at October 9, 2007 09:35 AM
This could be debated back in forth till the cows come home.
Nobody knows who would do what where. Just opinions and we allv know everyone has one!
Kids go to the school of there choice or where their parents live. So, they play the schedule that is in front of them. End of story, and no reason to debate back in forth. Alot of variables go into this discussion, like Oline/Dline ect.
I am just glad we have many talented kids in the SGV.
Fred, You are jumping the shark with this Heisman thread? TM says it all. Nico and Bryce, out of the entire SGV thats all there is to talk about? I'm going to go check out Jaimes blog.
Trojan Man
you are right about Nico's numbers telling no lies but the competition he put them up agaist does. I feel if McBride and Nico B would have traded teams McBride would double Nics numbers.
Nico
The Bonita kid is putting up some numbers too. 13 TD's in 5 games. Avg 200+ a game. Not sure how Robles's numbers compare to Paradez?? Rushing stats, Nico and McBride are tough. McBride has rushed against tougher teams. Snowden is hurt, Harris hasn't played anybody. Not sure about Partida and Gilmore?? Nico B is having a great season.
This award as of NOW , In my opinion should go to .... NICO.It is still early though, this should be discussed in week 9-10.Bryce is good , but Nico's #s tell no lies .
TM
