Saturday Morning Quarterback: South Hills, Northview, Glendora make statements

Above: South Hills High's Brandon Parham, left, congratulates Alex Bromstead, right, after Bromstead scored in the first quarter against Los Altos.

Friday's results
South Hills 35, Los Altos 21 -- Nobody playing better than the Huskies in last four games. All their big names showed up and had an impact.
Glendora 35, Damien 14 -- Didn't see them putting a whipping on the Spartans like this
Bishop Amat 31, St. Paul 30 (3 OT) -- Fans treated to a triple-overtime thriller at Kiefer
Charter Oak 50, Wilson 6 -- After all those close Miramonte wins last year, this must of fell great for Farrar and Co.
Northview 38, Covina 13 -- The Vikings needed a wake-up call, and that's what their crosstown rival provided. There will be a new champion in the Valle Vista. It Should probably come down to Northview-San Dimas.
Diamond Ranch 19, Bonita 0 -- You know what the Panthers are thinking: Bring on Los Altos, coming Thursday.
Arroyo 19, El Monte 14 -- Lions figured to give the Knights all they could handle, and did.
West Covina 27, Rowland 0 -- Bulldogs figure to be only team that might, and that's a big might, that can compete with South Hills in San Antonio.
Duarte 31, Azusa 17 -- Wasn't this closer than you thought it would be?
South El Monte 20, Rosemead 14 -- Unbelievable. Best 2-4 team not named Bishop Amat.
San Dimas 41, Pomona 13 -- Nothing can stop this scoring machine
Ayala 29, Diamond Bar 0 -- Hmmm, Glendora, Chino Hills have another contender to worry about.
Sierra Vista 34, Bassett 7 -- The Don's high-flying aerial show continues
Walnut 7, Nogales 6 -- Finally, Mustangs find the win column.
Gabrielino 27, Mountain View 6 -- Vikings great start goes up in flames against Eagles.

Above: Baldwin Park running all over Ganesha.

Thursday's results
Baldwin Park 38, Ganesha 0 - Braves (4-2, 1-0) are just a few plays from being undefeated after close losses to West Covina and El Monte. Do they have any chance next week against San Dimas?
Workman 29, Gladstone 20 - It was a must win for the Lobos, and they got it, knocking off Happy Rock for the second straight year.

Watch Friday's video highlights of Bishop Amat's thrilling 31-30 triple overtime victory over St. Paul

Also, nobody tailgates like Bishop Amat, and enjoy the 50th homecoming celebration with fans

this is boring

It is Verti's fault. He should have man up and admitted he wasn't qualified to take on the responsibilities and high stakes D1 HC job! He should have known he is only a kid rolling the dice in a Man's world at the expense of the kids.

Well Well !!!! oct 16

Nice to see someone on here with some intelligence and class. The LA vs. SHHS was a great game and it would be exciting to face you again in CIF. Hope all your kids are healthy including Mc Bride. We play our best when your at your best. Good luck with the rest of your season

Verti is an idiot

I am from Monrovia and yes I think the results from the last season and this season prove that Verti is not too bright.

JoeAmat is right on the money............

Sorry AMAT Nation! Wish things were better for you guys.

PREP WATCHER Duece Duece you are the man kee it going because the other guys are just real abngry and make no sense at all..... very hypocritical statements.

why would anyone go to chalk talk? i wouldn't want any of that bad verde karma to rub off on me.

j.bowden, SHHS was the better team that night I hate to agree, but oh well! We hope to see you in CIF. Stranger things have happened. Good Luck!

Lancer Alum & AmatAlumn Too,

Understand the hill. Understood the hill. We've had hills before. Climbed some hills. Tried to warn them of that hill long before Verti even thought of coaching. It goes way above Manzo. He has NO power to do anything. It starts at the top fo that hill...MSGr Carroll. HE is what needs to be overcome. He ruined St Paul with his reign as principal there in the '80s. They are only now beginning to recover. Now it's our turn. He is now so focused on leaving his legacy of buildings that he neglects giving the support necessary to really succeed in high budget sports. Go back and read nearly every post when I say..."It's not Verti's fault" that he has to go thru this. Really. MSGr decisions have gone a long way to damaging the athletic and academic reputation that the school used to hold in the valley.

I've been saying that in this space for a long time.

Amat Alum Too,
With that insight, I know now why there has been a struggle.

Joe Amat,
Support our Lancers. Both coaches and players. Now you know the hill they climb. When Paredes, Mulvehill,Martinez and whoever else was AD, the football and baseball program were in top shape. Now I know why baseball players don't play two sports. My eyes are open to the real cause of our distress.

AmatAlum,

You hit it on the HEAD!!!

I (and I know about another 200+ alums) feel EXACTLY the way you do!!

Manzo got what he wanted.....

He's brought the Amat Football program down to EXACTLY where he wanted......

Never has SUPPORTED Verti, never.... Unless his name is NIETO...(riding his coattail to whatever D1 college he'll be at soon as a Baseball Operations guy..) or if someone buys him a BMW..... (Ask anyone involved with the very successful Girls Basketball program, the AD hasn't even shown up for the awards banquet in ALL his time in the AD position - What the H@ll is that??? He doesn't support Wiard either!!)

Verti will never be successfull without support from HIS BOSS!!

Think about it, would you succeed at your job WITHOUT support from your boss???

It's the way at Amat now.... get used to it, until changes are made at the AD level...

yes, brandon parham is the son of that stud from the 80's at bassett. he's at all the games, and, easy to find, as he looks like he's still could give a hit if he had to.

Just like I thought Joe. You won't show up. Keep picking at Verti and the Amat mystique you lousy son of a slut. The truth is with all your experience and maturity in raising children and coaching kids you are a lousy person to come on here and trash both Verti and by extension the school you say you love. Hate being in your family if it's so easy to say what you do about things you love. You have no decency but you are knowledgable, experienced and worldly yet you are the smallest of men, still a coward to your profession, your alma mater and your friends.

Until someone has the balls to say who you are so we can dissect your resume I guess we are left with your rants.

WELL WHAT CAN I SAY?
JOE AMAT HAS SAID IT ALL. WELL SAID AND VERY WELL WRITTEN.

The Chalk Talk never was and never should be the place for a "lynch mob" (don't get too excited Duarte fans, the coach is *white*...it's called a "figure of speech"). I've spoken to enough boosters and media types to know that you better put a positive spin on anything. I do like the "Warrior Lancers" label (as long as we don't now offend the Native Americans). The chalk talk is another night to get together, and it is a long standing (or sitting) tradition that I'm glad has continued. For some, the game only existed to decide whether they would be celebrating or drowning their sorrows at the chalk talk. But that was then. Now it is really to hear what the coach has to say - he doesn't need to hear what we think.

It doesn't really matter what we think. What is important is what the coaching staff thinks they'll do next time. That's called experience. You get experience from making mistakes. So it is what it is and , as I've said before, it's not the coaches fault. To paraphrase Denny Green, "He is who we thought he was!" And there is nothing wrong with that. He will learn and get better. He will learn from this decision against St Paul, along with the off field problems of a year ago and even the red zone failures vs Carson. He'll develop a bigger bag of tricks. More tools to use. When the opposing coaches and Carson players say in the paper that they KNEW everything that amat was going to do - that tells you something. Either a lack of knowledge and imagination or not a big enough bag if tricks. I do think it is probably the latter. And that's a good thing. Right now that bag of tricks is a lunch sack. Someday it should be bigger. I'm just looking for a Santa Claus size bag. Right now! A school with the tradition like amat can get that and shouldn't have to go through the learning curve.

You see it is not about the outcome. The kick against Mater Dei in '04 was the CORRECT call. Even though the team went on to lose in OT. And I know that Difiori KNOWS it was the right call and would do it again - even after knowing the outcome. The kicker had made one earlier from about 50 yds (and BTW, that same kicker kicked the winning extra point in MSAC's upset of PCC this past weekend) Just like this one against St Paul was an incorrect call - even though we went on to win. If at the end of the day you can say that you made the right call, regardless of outcome - then you did. If the outcome had gone the other way, would most be saying "we should have kicked it"? Those that are honest with themselves would. That whole, "If you can't gain an inch you're not a man and deserve to lose" crap, is just that - crap. Basing coaching decisions on emotion get's you fired. Ask the New York Giants coach who, instead of taking a knee, handed off and the RB fumbled leading to a last second loss. He was FIRED the next day!

So we ARE going thru that learning curve and administration has to deal with it. They have to look at dwindling football attendance and admission applicants. A smaller waiting list that means we have to allow students in that might not have gotten in earlier. Is that footballs fault? Or Boys Basketballs? I kind of think so. Where else can a private school get that much newspaper coverage advertising the success (or failure) of a school. It is directly correlated. Period. Look at colleges that win and the increase in donations. MSGr needs to figure that out. It's called an investment. One that we were not willing to make. If anyone thinks that last years St Bonnies coach or the Mater Dei coordinator would not have been a better choice - you have no business on a football blog. Trust me...administration knows *exactly* how I feel, and deep down at places they won't talk about at "chalk talks" or booster meetings, they feel the same way too. They just hope there is an easy way out of the decision that they made when they chose this hire.

The easiest way is for the coach to prove that he can get a group of staff of coaches, three teams of players, administrators, faculty, student body, alums and a community to jump on his bandwagon by convincing them that he is the ONLY man for the job. ***I hope he does that. Honestly.*** To date, I see staff bickering, unhappy players and boosters, departures, and growing apathy among students while the alums and the community...well, you know. Can we turn it around in a few games....maybe. I hope so, for a fellow alums sake. That could buy him some extra time. We better hope so. Because the alternative leaves some egg on a lot of faces.

Prepsnatcher 22,

First off you got to be the most ignorant person I have ever read as far as writing goes. All Capitals? Where did you learn to type? Very disturbing person that you are, you missed the whole point in what Lumbo was trying to say. These are young teens playing the game of HS football, not your Raider throwdowns. Get it right panzy. Your claim of the Verti Amat connection is wrong, who are you to judge and what is your coaching background and expertise? None but a arm chair, I know. You claim to not be a parent so you cannot talk from a parent/player of Amat side, so what is your point an your love for Amat where is that coming from? See there are true loyal Amat fans that care for the players the coaches and the parents who bring their kids to the school, we are family. Then there are fools that shoot off their mouths to feel superior and dont what TF they are talking about ala you Prepper. If you do not support what our players and coach are trying to do and do not support us and do not go to chalk talk, please do us all a favor and get out of our circle, we do not need idiots like you that try to bring us down. We loyalist are in for the long haul with Verti and will live and die with the outcome because we are true supporters of the team and coach.

Tuesday Nite Chalk Talk is really not an open form. It's not meant for the public to put their 2 cents in, or talk smack to the coaches, and play the shoulda woulda coulda game. Its for the Head Coach to give an insight on the previous game, what to expect for the up coming game, injury reports and so on. Sure you can ask questons, you can pick the coaches brain, ask him his thoughts on a play, ask him what he would do differently, Its not meant for people to tell him his play calling is suspect, or to say he should resign. The head coach takes time out of his nite to give insight on the program. I would advise any of the people who post on here, weather you post negative or positive about the Program, to show up, don't say a word and just listen. You might get a better understanding of what was going on in the game from an inside point of view, instead of being on the outside looking in. Remember, the coaches are there with the players 3 to 4 hours a day. They know the athletes strengths and weakness. They know who's injured, hurt, and whos playing with pain. They know who can catch, who can block, who can tackle, who can kick and most of all they know who can't do all those things. Most casual fans just watch the game and critique everything. Go tonight, keep an open mind and come back and let us know what you think.

It's the old Amat breed vs. new Amat breed

It's the old winning tradition vs. the losing trend

It's the proud Amat tradition vs. the flushing tradition down the toilet

It't the Amat Family vs. Amat Nation mentality

It's D1 football vs. below D1 standard football

I'm with Joe Amat, the new breed stinks.

I AM THE ORIGINAL BLLEDS BLUE AND GOLD...

prepjerk,

Stupid comments are for stupid people like you. It's the only thing you understand. Show up at Chalk Talk or STFU pu--y.

Is this Parham from South Hills related to the Parham kid that played LB for Bassett in the 80's? I saw this Parham kid (6'3" 230 lbs) laid a vicious NFL style hit to a 6'5" 230 lb Pomona Red Devil QB in 1988. They took this big QB out in a stretcher and spend 1 week in the hospital with a severe concussion. This was the best HS hit I've ever witnessed in my life.

CHALKLUMBO,
RALPH W.,
BLEEDS BLUE & GOLD,

FIRST OFF TO CHALKLUMBO...I LIKE THAT NAME. TOO OBVIOUS THOUGH THAT YOU ARE CHALK TALK TUE. AND COLUMBO IN ONE. I KNEW YOU WERE ONE IN THE SAME. THAT WAS SMART..PROBABLY THE SMARTEST THING YOU'VE DONE AND SAID ON THIS BLOG. EVERYTHING ELSE YOU SAID MAKES YOU SOUND LIKE AN IDIOT. YOU SAY TO SUPPORT VERTI BECAUSE HE IS GIVING HIS ALL? SURE, BY NOT BEING SMART AND MAKING STUPID DECISIONS..BY NOT CHANGING IT UP AND NOT BEING CREATIVE, BY BEING JUST ANOTHER MEDIOCRE COACH.I'M NOT SAYING HE SHOULDNT BE A COACH. HE CAN, JUST NOT HERE,NOT NOW, NOR AT THIS LEVEL .HE DOESNT BELONG AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM. WHY DO U SETTLE FOR LESS AND ACCEPT MEDIOCRACY?.I HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT MEDIOCRACY MEANS BECAUSE IF YOUR'E SUPPORTING VERTI YOUR'E OBVIOUSLY NOT THAT INTELLIGENT. JOE AMAT BRINGS VERY GOOD POINTS IN HIS BLOGS AND YOU JUST ARE IN DENIAL THAT THE VERTI/AMAT CONNECTION ISNT WORKING. AMAT HAS BEEN AT THE TOP AND WITH THIS COACH WE ARE BACK AT THE BOTTOM WHERE WE SHOULDNT BE. ENOUGH WITH YOU NOW COLUMBO....
RALPH W.,
YOU'RE FUNNY...TELLING ME EXACTLY WHERE YOUR'E GONNA SIT. I DONT CARE WHERE YOU SIT...YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER SPECTATOR. WHY WOULD I GO TO A CHALK TALK AND VOICE MY OPINION TO A COACH WHO DISREGARDS ANY OUTSIDE INFLUENCES AND CRITICISMS?
BLEEDS BLUE AND GOLD,
YOU ARE THE FUNNIEST OF THE THREE...YOU GUYS ARE LIKE MANNY, MOE, AND JACK(THE THREE STOOGES)..YOU TELL ME TO GO TO HELL..NOT PASS GO AND NOT COLLECT $200...HOW OLD ARE YOU? 12? CMON, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT FOOTBALL NOT MONOPOLY..YOU WERE OBVIOUSLY THE NERD IN HIGHSCHOOL THAT COULDNT GO OUT, PLAY SPORTS OR KISS A GIRL WITHOUT PERMISSION..YOU JUST STOOD HOME PLAYING BOARD GAMES LIKE MONOPOLY SINCE YOU LIKE TO QUOTE IT....WELL, I HOPE YOU THREE ENJOY CHALK TALK AND CONTINUE ON SUPPORTING A COACH WHO IS AS DUMBFOUNDED AND LOST AS YOU THREE ARE...
OH AND BY THE WAY....NO, I DONT HAVE A RAIDER STICKER ON MY CAR NOR DO I EVEN LIKE THE RAIDERS. WHERE DID YOU COME UP WITH THAT LAME COMMENT? YOU REALLY NEED TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING BETTER...

YOUR FRIEND,
PREPWATCHER22

Hey amat people

Can anyone attend these chalk talks?

How does it work?

Are we now left to rehashing the glory days of Amat football. Sounds to me like a funeral.

I'll be there as well. I don't know what row or what seat but I'll be there for sure. I made a point of shaking Verti's hand after the Carson game and told him to not give up. That they were close. Really just a couple of drop passes from making it a tie ball game before it came undone. He said, with the fire in his eyes, that he would never give up. I believe him. I've been to 2 previous Chalk Talks and they were both after defeats. This will be my first where Verti and Co. come out on top. I think it's a good thing for Joe Amat to come to the Chalk Talk as well. Sometimes it's better to be a man than a snake in the grass, regardless of the outcome. That's called accountability. Joe you MUST have coached and preached that concept to both your players and children. I do. Never back down when someone calls you to the mat. Being a coward is a silent killer because only you know when it's taken hold. Being a man requires no such fate. If I disagree with someone I'll be the first to say I was wrong. If I believe in what I'm saying I will be the last to hide. Even if that means "people won't like me." Boohoo. Deal with it or shut up.

Congratulations to Coach Verti and his Warrior Lancers. Finding the strenght to compete when all around you try to tear you down is the mark of champion in my book and the first step towards being Men. Joe Amat if you are not there tonight I will know you are the least of men. You sir are a coward.

N-View loves to talk smack. That's all they do and that is all they will ever be known for. They can't hit, so they have to talk and complain when things don't go their way. Just like their coaches for all sports. (ie, rice, murph) Can't wait till we Scalp them Vikes in a few weeks. But we will take care of business vs. SD this Friday and then we'll see.

Go Braves!

Bravetown

What I like about this match-up, both defenses are good!

War Piant

That was funny, but don’t think any scalps will be taken.

Saints armour is pretty tuff to take off!

I AM THE ORIGINAL BLEEDS BLUE AND GOLD...

Prepidiot22,

Go to hell. Go directly to hell. Do not pass GO, Do not collect $200.

As with the others who will be at Chalk Talk tonight, I hope to see you there but knowing your kind, you hide behind your mothers skirt when you get called out.

You are a trash talking idiot. No more, no less. The way you talk, I bet you have a Raiders sticker on your car and have your house dressed up in black and silver. YOU, my friend, are the real loser. You say you don't have kids? Well thank GOD! I could just imagine the hell you would put your kids coach thru. Hell they'd probably ban you from the games.

Do us ALL a favor and don't go to any more Amat games. people like you are a dime a dozen.

To: Joe Amat and Prep Watcher 22,

See you at our Tues. nite Chalk Talk 7:30pm. I will be first row second seat from the rear, right next to Coach Verti. Bring you ideas and input to the coach, for better or for worse. See you two there. I hope you are going to be man enuf 1.) to Show up and 2.)To stand by your opinion and voice it to the Coach....GOT BALLS?

Your right, it is N-VIEW talking all this smack.
See you on Friday.. Im thinking it's gonna be a great game, coming down to the 4th quarter...

GO BRAVES !!!!

Bravetown you are right. BP vs. SD is always tough. BP is tough at home vs. anyone.

Word on the street is BP is pissed about last year and looking to take scalps! SD better watch out or else it will be Little Big Horn all over again. Coach Billy Z could be Colonel Custer.

BRAVETOWN at October 16, 2007 09:52 AM

Seems to me that the Saints know they have to beat BP, and everyone on their schedule to win league.

Not rocket science here...

Go Saints...

It seems to me that there is alot of Northview vs San Dimas conversation here. I think the Braves will have something to say about it. Not saying they will win, but B.P. VS San Dimas is always a hard fought game.. Im sure B.P. will be there to play..

GO BRAVES !!!!

BRAVETOWN at October 16, 2007 08:32 AM

It appears VIKE is the guy looking at next weeks match up. Why, because they play Ganesha.

They better not look past any game, because we all know what happened last year against Pomona..

Looking forward to playing a tuff Baldwin Park team.

The word of the week to all Saints fans...

Work hard, listen to your coaches, sleep, do your homework and prepare for the battle!

BRAVETOWN at October 16, 2007 08:32 AM

We take one game at a time. Nobody on the Saints coaching staff will ever look beyond this week. Count on it, stayng focued on the mission is the first priority

See you Friday........

LA vs SHHS

I've read most of the blogs and most you guys need to stop whinning. It was a heck of a game. Any time you put Gano and Bogan head to head your in for a couple of hours of solid football entertainment. I tell you I was impressed by LA and Gano again. So all you clowns that are whinning about the QB or the O-Line, or even the injurys you've suffered, thats football. There is no quit in a Gano team. On this night we were the better team and came up with the better plays. Had in not been for Mc Brides one long run SHHS defense held one of the valleys best rushers to just 63 yards. SHHS defense was steller. The D-Line cracked down and plugged the holes. Even with the absence of Kuklinski our linebackers were like killer bees swarming all over the place. Our secondary with Wells and Glaster stuck to the LA recievers like glue. SHHS defense you was awesome. Offensively there were to many weapons. Hold your Heads up LA we'll see you in CIF. SHHS just keep do'in your thing.

Preppy22, J/AMAT,

You two for being older, supposedly mature men you act and write like you are two of the same. starting with you first Preppy: You have no kid on the team and you have fathered no kids(thank god) and you have a opinion about how the team is run? why? because you played at Amat before? and maybe not, (which makes you look worse) your a basher and a wannabe coach that is knocking Verti's every move. Play the senior at QB but you would not want to be a father of a bench player, well thats real special (real support there bud). People like you just crap on people and have to be opinionated to make themselfs and their short commings in life feel better. J/AMAT, you still are not walking the talk and showing up to the chalk talk to voice your displeasure with our Coach. Why not? if you as bad ass you come accross here hiding on a blog then show up and give us all in that room your take and see how fast wwe laugh you ass out of there. You two need to see a positive in life and not be so negative, after all it is HS ball we are talking about not life or death. You need to grow up and stop living in your HS days and accept winning and losing with Amat as that Winning and Losing. It is a game for young teens doing and giving their all, it is about a coach who is giving his all and you cannot support that win or lose and stayed positive about it.....if you two morons are still wrapped up in your HS days of glory you have some serious issues. Parents of Amat players should be the ones worried about winning and losing and supporting the team and coach thru it all......you two Jamokes either support or turn in your Amat Badge and heart.

BIG REG>>
Whats with the reach around your giving Amat posters? Didn't you go to Covina? Other than living in the past Amat honks. Nobody wants to or cares to listen about Amat history. Stop cramming that nonsence up the valleys rear. Its old and its boring. Why don't you report on the current success of the schools across the valley, instead of shaking the dusty Amat tree? Be a reporter and go find new stories. Be exciting for once.

Joe Amat,
The Lancers were one inch away and they didn't score. You say try play action or kick the Field Goal. It's one inch. Dig down deep and get a push.

Also you didn't answer the question about the Field goal miss against Mater Dei. Same angle. same situation.

A lot of people have questioned the heart of this team and staff. Friday showed their true character. That's what you need to see. "it's about performance...progress...pride!" Your damn right it is and Amat showed all three on Friday.

Prepwatcher 22,
Man, I hope no one finds out your true identity. You are not what Amat is about. You bad mouth players. Go Home or watch other teams.

I'm looking forward to seeing you both tonight. I'll be sitting on the left side third seat from the left.

BIG REG>>

Big Reg -
Mark Paredes was coaching both those AMAT teams.

'Wow' that is what this blog is for you idiot to talk high school football so why don't you do the same instead of spew your hate - like it or not AMAT - is sort of like a regional team, so why don't you start rooting for them too?

I'd vote for the 1992 15-0 team to beat Bienemy's team from the late 80's - JR Phillips was a weak spot at QB.

BA

Love It Oct15

Wilson, South Hills transfer broke his knuckle on his throwing hand. Know your facts before you pass judgement on the Wilson family utthead

San Dimas, keep worrying about Northview in 2 weeks. Nevermind you guys are coming to B.P. this Friday..

GO BRAVES !!!!

Hey Vike, (Or murph)

We need to worry about Bp before we play you. Baldwin park is a good team with a couple of play holding them back from being undefeated. If we beat them we should have a nice game next week. Say hi to Marcel!

Bishop Amat is a team that represents the entire San Gabriel Valley. They are made up of athletes and students from all over. If you don't go there I bet you may have had a friends or neighbor that has. Key words - friend or neighbors - like I did. I don't understand all of you that are kicking AMAT while they are down. If you've been around as long as I have how could you not enjoy talking about something such as a comparison between the 1986-'87 team and the 15-0 1992-'93 team?
I am wondering who was the coach during that era?

-Big Reg

Hey VIKE, your TEAM plays Ganesha this week! SaintsR4Real is right worry about Ganesha first. I'm sure your coaches and senior leaders wouldn't want another Pomona 2006 game. Take it one game at a time and easy on the trash talk. Let your pads do the talking! Just an outside opinion.

Saints for Real,

Line is back up to 3 with SD favored...You must have thrown down a few dollars swaying the line...stay posted for updates and stories about the upcoming Saints-Vikings game next week.
Good tidbits in this game...1. Former Viking Coach Billy Z. is now head coach at San Dimas. That and more coming soon.

Joe Amat, I remember those Tue. Nites in the weightroom watching a reel to reel video. I'm pretty sure you've done many a Tue. Nite chalk talk. You speak nothin but the truth and I agree with ya. Keep posting on here and let the new Parents go and speak their mind on Tue. Nite. BTW, Amat '86 vs Amat 92... wow, tuff one to call. 86 had Great Individual players who played Good as a team. 92 had Good Individual players who played Great as a team. I can't call it, I'll let the record, speak for it self.

Wow, It's funny how some of you Amat fans are still holding on to the old dreams. Do you really think Bienemy will leave an NFL coaching job and return to Amat? or do you think Paredes wants to come back? Come back to what? It is my understanding he has a son or grandson over at Covina, if Amat has the potential, why not send him to Amat? I guess you feel about Amat like I feel about my Dodgers. There is always next year! Nonetheless you are die hard, thats great! Hey whats up with this Parham kid, this was the first time I have seen him. Is this kid a real deal or was this a one time thing? He looked like a D1 player. I remember his Dada in the late 80's, the Tribune voted him most feared linbacker, he was a beast.

Vike at October 15, 2007 06:53 PM

We're pretty excited on this side of town too, but our boys got their record (6-0) by playng one game at a time, not looking too far ahead.

I believe your next game is against Ganesha, don't take them lightly, anybody can win any time.

See ya all in two weeks!

Prediction: Saints 34, Vikings 14

Mr. Gilpin,
If I could ask, what palace full of athletic scholars do you support with your tremendous grasp of the queens english?

HEY JOE AMAT,

I LOVE YOUR RESPONSE TO CHALK TALK TUES. HE OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. I THINK COLUMBO AND CHALK TALK TUES. ARE ONE IN THE SAME. NOW FOR US, THAT HAVE BEEN THERE..YES, I HAVE BEEN TO CHALK TALK WITH VERTI AND HE NEVER GIVES YOU A STRAIGHT ANSWER. SOME TYPE OF COACH HE IS....AMAT DESERVES BETTER...SORRY, THE BOYS DESERVE BETTER. JOE AMAT, I AGREE 100% WITH ALL THAT YOU HAVE STATED ABOUT VERTI AND AMATS CHOICE OF COACHING..I GUESS NOW YOU WILL ALSO BE CATEGORIZED AS A DISGUNTLED PARENT OF A PLAYER JUST LIKE CHALK TALK AND COLUMBO(SAME PERSON) HAVE CATEGORIZED ME. I'M NO PARENT AND I DIDNT KNOW I NEEDED CHILDREN ON THE TEAM TO HAVE AN OPINION...

I'm getting sick of hearing about Bishop Amat all the time. ENOUGH!!! You stupid beaners are the past! No one wants to go to your horrific looking school anymore, no one wants to play for a program that's in shambles. Time to move on, I think you still have baseball, right? You fuckers shouldn't even be in the top 10. Thank goodness for your 'pals' at this paper. They love your balls so much, they'd never let you NOT be ranked. So, get better or SHUT UP!

COLUMBO,

WHO DO U THINK I AM? IF YOU ARE ABLE TO READ, YOU WOULDVE SEEN MY LAST BLOG ENTRY STATING THAT I'M NOT ANYONES PARENT NOR DO I HAVE CHILDREN. SO, BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY STUPID REMARKS OR CONCLUSIONS...TRY AND GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT... WHY WOULD I WANT TO BE A BENCHWARMERS FATHER FOR? THATS DUMB.. I AM JUST STATING EVERYTHING THAT I SEE.. I CALL IT AS I SEE IT. IF YOU DONT AGREE WITH IT THATS FINE.

Big Reg,

EB graduated in 87.

Joe Amat:

As far as scholarship athletes and future stars yeah that'd be a great comparison Bienemy's senior year I believe it may have been 1987-'88?
How great would it be to compare the 15-0 team to that year.
Great, great, great point. I guess thats why they call you Joe Amat.
You probably knew and remembered Stan the late beloved equipment manager too? RIP Stan.

-Big Reg

PS I have ready some earlier posts about former Coach Mark Paredes. I remember him and I think he may be the winningest Coach in Amat Football history? Any input to that one?

We want the Saints!!! Northview vs. San Dimas is going to be insane next week. This game has become a heated one each year, so look for heads to roll that night. Last week, I'd say Saints favored by 7, the money is coming in now and I see Saints favored by 2 right now because they're at home...Stay posted, most money coming in now for the Vikings since they thumped Covina last week. Fight On Vikings!!!

Big Reg,

I'm guessing that '92 might be the best season for ANY high school to date. No one has ever done better than 15-0

But '92 may not have been amat's best team. In the late '80s one team had Eric Biemiemy(Colorado, runner-up Heisman, NFL), Mazio Royster (USC, Jacksonville) in the backfield, quarterbacked by JR Phillips(SF Giants and offered a ride to SC as a punter), Stephon Pace (USC), and track speedster Derek Zdarstek at WR, Pat Patterson (Colorado) at TE , and linemen, Rich Garrick (Air Force), Troy Auzenne (Chicago Bears), Chico Fraley(Washington, Seattle Seahawks) at linebacker...and maybe more. Got beat in the second round during a string of playoff losses known as the "Second-Round Jinx"

Hey, What ever happened to the Wilson kid from South Hills who checked in at St. Paul? The starting QB over at St. Paul is a sophmore and the backup there is also a sophmore and neither one is Wilson.
Nice decision to transfer, dad!!

Seems you know ALOT ABOUT NOTHING KNIGHT 42 F OFF !!!

SEE YA IN A FEW WEEKS ...

Joe Amat

Yup, that would be the one and only Reebok Bowl.
Amat personnel included... Rymogi Huma (UCLA), Kory Minor (Notre Dame) and of course Daylon McCutcheon (USC).
As a young lad, I was at the game and I wonder if that was the best season ever for an AMAT Football Team?
15-0, League Champs, CIF Champs and Reebok Bowl Champs incredible.
What a hard season to top by anyone.

ps Anonymous check

later this week probably by Thursday for a few games we've shot this season including the Damien/Glendora game. Thanks for the inquiry.

I'd be willing to bet that isn't the Mayor of La Puente folks.

To Tough call at October 15, 2007 12:27 PM
Verti is not Amat's Norv Turner. Norv's at least been around the block a few times. Verti is Amats Lane Kiffin.

Hey...this is Mark Verti, head coach at Bishop Amat. What's with all the bad mouthing of me? I'm a great coach. I learned from the very best. He was the best ever high school football coach in the United States. He's name...Tom Salter. Tom gave me the tools to be the best high school football coach ever. Yes, I was a bust at UCLA, and at Bishop Amat when I played. And yes, I couldn't catch a pass even if I had baskets taped to my hands, but still! I'm giving these Mexican kids a chance to do something with their lifes, instead of working at the oil change and filter garage in El Monte, off of Baja Street.

Peace...I'm out!

Mark Verti
Bishop Amat Memorial High School football coach
m_verti@bishopamat.org

Reg,
Dec 18, 1992 was the date of Amat's win in the Reebok Bowl to complete a 15-0 season?

Chalk talker - "IF ?"...don't even go there! 5 years...please!

That's what you do not understand - it's not about W's...it's about performance...progress...pride! That's why we can't get too excited about a win over St Paul. The final score is not nearly as relevant.

Yes, he is still too wet behind the ears . And I'm not hating on Verti...really! What he's doing right now is formulating his future philosophy. I'd bet his salary that next time he's faced with that EXACT situation he kicks the FG. Now he knows. I'm sure that he'd do a million things different than he did last season. On and off the field. He'd probably handle locker room fights differently and not lie to administration about what happened. He's lucky - could have been much uglier. Bet he won't do that again. He's just learning at the expense of young men that will never get these years back.

It's they that deserve a fair shot

...and joe jr. - good one...nice try... I said experienced AND prepared ! : )

Big Reg,

Where might we find your video and post game interview for the Glendora/Damien game?

it's easy to blame all damiens lacking on morrison
and other coaches. but pertusati is a good safety not qb. when you can't throw as a team you can't run either. 9 in the box and man coverage is all they see. you need a pitcher.

Coyote 62,
Maybe you missed it, but South El Monte just beat you, 6'4" 270 LBS don't mean crap if it has no HEART. If your not prepare this week El Monte will also put one on you, GO LIONS. That's who you play next, don't worry about us yet. We never worry about Rosemead, Hosemead, Crapmead, No Hartmead and whatever else you call yourself. Stick to wrestling, nothing like rolling around half naked with another guy, uhh Panthers.

Joe Amat, show up Tuesday we welcome your input, if you have the Cahones.

Joe Amat,

What would your opinion be if Verti and the Lancers take league and make the CIF playoffs.? Is he still too wet behind the ears and Cannot coach?. Give him a chance. Cant afford you?. I did not see you apply. Verti is ok just give him a fair shot. He deserves a full 5 year ride then judge him.

Prep Watcher 22 is Nick Iglesias dad....or want to be dad.

"Get your experience somewhere else and then come prepared!!!!!"

Truer words have never been spoken.

Joe Amat you can be rough around the edges but that blast makes you okay in my book!

Here's what I'd do. Hire Coach Morrison from Damien.........PLEASE!

PATRIOT VIDEO at October 15, 2007 08:47 AM

WHATS YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS?

Personally, I wish the best for AMAT as I have many, many friends that have worn the Blue and Gold as I am sure many of you reading this do as well.

One thing that stands out from all of this going 'back and forth' stuff is that if you look at this situation at AMAT unbiasedly, and I hope that I am correct in saying that I speak for a large amount of people from the San Gabriel Valley that are ture fans of HS Football, I too miss the glory days of AMAT. As being one of the former elite teams from the area it was alot of fun growing up rooting on the Lancers as they progressed into the post season representing the entire San Gabriel Valley with players from all over. It seems those days are on hold right now and it has left a huge void and frustration for alot of people. The one thing about AMAT, hate them or love them, is that because of the private school status they draw kids from all over the area and the success was something all true HS Football fans could enjoy form this area. I hope that the glory is restored soon and I do wish the best for the current and future AMAT players. Here's to the rest of the season Lancers. Play hard and play to win.

-Big Reg

Joe Amat I have a little trivia for you please don't let me down, Lol

What is the significance of
Friday, December 18, 1992?

Chalk Talk Tues,

Been to my share of chalk talks since we watched them on 16mm in the old weight room under the bleachers. Fair-Weather fan? All those years supporting the lancers indicate not. No clue? The big championship ring in my office says otherwise. Apply? They couldn't afford me. And that's the problem - Msgr wouldn't open the checkbook to pay those that were worth it. From Paredes, Salter or Hagerty to the St Bonnies coach or the Mater Dei coordinator. He wouldn't pay what others were paying. Because he felt - as you do, that Mighty Are the Men That Wear the Blue and Gold, We Are amat...so everything will be just fine. We'll just hand a whistle to some kid, throw out the balls, athletes will show up(or stay) and we'll continue to dominate. Guess what? It ain't happening. You've got to produce. What have you done for me lately? Yeah, put up or shut up.

Damn right I'm spoiled and impatient. We shouldn't be in the position to be patient. Why take steps backwards. Go get your experience somewhere else - then come to us prepared. But the good news, which you newbies are not aware of, is that we have gone thru this before. We've had bad, ineffective, or inexperienced coaches. They didn't "grow into" the job - they moved on and found their level. Then we brought in someone who was prepared to restore the tradition. It will happen again. Who deserves it? The kids deserve it. High school lasts a mere 4 years and memories, good or bad, last forever. amat kids deserve good ones. All of them. Forever.

But it won't happen by sitting around and waiting for it to get better.

I'll leave you with a few of my favorite:

In a democracy dissent is an act of faith. Like medicine, the test of its value is not in its taste, but in its effects...

We must dare to think about "unthinkable things" because when things become "unthinkable" thinking stops and action becomes mindless...

The citizen who criticizes his country is paying it an implied tribute.

Class dismissed!

"water soda and fravrorite frood that's all it's about at amat". i'll tell you i am embarassed as an amat alum. and i think the tribune made it look bad intetionally.

Sophmore QB-Justin Zamona.

hey fred,

when are you going to rank the o-line and d-line players. they in the pits winning the games it starts with them. after watching the damien game big rabe didnt seem to do much against jared mcgarry and or addison bachman. why so much talk about overated player?? lets her your opinion

TM II,

You sound like another myopic USC fan.
I'm not the only one who believes Sanchez struggled. Did you read Scott Wolf's story in the Tribune? Wolf even used the word, "struggled" in his story.
As for being educated, I will just let the readers of this blog decide.
You should read your last post. You are in need of a grammar lesson.

ARROYO PREPARE YOUSELF FOR ROSMEAD, THET HAVE A HUGE. MONSTER. OFFENSIVE/DEF. LINE A COUPLE OF GUYS GO 6'4:"250/270 WILL RUN DOWN YOUR THROAT. SULMUR IS GOOD, AND FAST....GOOD LUCK REST OF MVL THE MEAD IS FOR REAL.........

Is Bishop Amat and Budweiser really going to join forces other than just the classless parents hoisting cold ones in the parking lot before games?

I'd love to see them become the Bishop Amat Budweiser Lancers!

AMAT PARENTS ARE TURDS

joe Amat. I hate to say this but. You're right. Not kicking that field goal at that time was a mistake if the players didn't believe it was the right call at the time. That's what coaching is all about. Getting the troops to follow your vision and focus. Maybe Amat really has a problem of vision and focus.

I will however give you a word of caution. The Chargers let go of a 14-2 Head Coach for Norv Tuner. Everyone wanted Marty gone but really it was the players who lost the game that got him fired. Maybe Difiori was your Marty and Verti is your Norv Turner. With apologies to John Wooden. Players win games and coaches lose games is really only a reflection of a coach that knows how to inspire his team and is setting the foundation that the coach will always except responsibility for a lose. That's genius but not always true. players lose games. Ask Leon Lett.

But Joe I have a question for you. Isn't it remarkable how Coach Belickcik (sp) got away with what is the mortal sin in sports. CHEATING AND GETTING CAUGHT! Could Art Shell or Tony Dungy or anyone else for that matter gotten away with that? Patriots should give back all those Super Bowl Trophies and The Mighty "*" placed in the record books. They will NEVER earn my respect. Brady, Brusinski and all the other ALL AMERICAN types just got away with the crime of the century. And they were just talking about Bobby Thompson "stealing a sign" 50 years later with "The shot heard 'round the world!" 50 years later!

Minimum Mercy

Last I checked Football was a team game you dweeb. McKnight didn't win the game, Sanchez didn't win the game, USC won the game you idiot.

You excpect Sanchez to come in and gel with the team in his first start dumb shi%$#?

I don't even like the Trojans but your posts are so stupid I have to respond and set you straight.

I am going to guess.... 1) you aren't older than 21. (if you are, most likely uneducated)
2) you have never played a team sport in your life (if you have you obviously didn't learn anything) 3) You are overweight from watching too much damn television. Go eat crow you Biiiooooyyyyccccchhhhhhhh!

Joe Amat,

We welcome you to come and share your views with the Q&A to the coach after chalk talk film ends. Thts right you talk the talk on a blog but you do not Walk the talk at a chalk talk. If your as old as I think you are then MAN UP OR SHUT UP. Bad decision , Incorrect decisions, thats not babbling it is what I said and it applies to A work in Progress coach. If you know the meaning of Work in Progress. He is not going to be perfect and I am sure yourself in whatever you do for a living are not perfect yourself. This coach is giving it his all and you come in here a former and ex-lancer and bash him to no end. Unacceptable? to who you? I guess you should of applied for the position of head coach and we would be 6-0 right now right?. People like you who are not giving Coach Verti a chance are spoiled and impatient. He is in his second year, How many coaches out there put up with people like you that just think they know it all and armchair QB every opportunity they get just to pop off, not knowing what it takes to lead a team. If you ever were a coach J.AMAT the JAA ranks do not compare to HS. You just want instant results and your not going to get them but instead of complaining like a little a-hole do something about it. Go Face the man Tuesday. A win is a Win and he pulled it off. What are you scared week to week. Alemeny was close with Crespi. So FN what!. Match ups make games you have no clue what you are talking about. Your a fair weather fan Joe now support us and our coach win or lose or Los Altos is looking for amat Parent football fan transfers as well.

Joe Amat,

I remember the game against Mater Dei four years ago. Same situation. We try the kick to win and lose in overtime.Go to Tuesday night and look for yourself.

You say back our kids. I say back our Lancers both players and coaches.

I've given this some thought and I want to be positive regarding Damien so I'll focus on this team's accomplishments. Somehow they fooled Aram and apparently the whole SGV into believing Perusati was either better than Mendrun or at least better than any QB in the SGV, even though he'd never started a varsity game. THAT'S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!Next this team convinced themselves that the success of last year's hardworking team of senior first time starters would be easily replaced. THAT'S AN ACCOMPLSHMENT! Next Coach Morrison figured out a way to stop Taylor Herrera from dominating in a way no defense could, put him in his private "dog house". THAT'S AN ACCOMPLSHMENT! Damien marketed itself with 8/10 good to great recievers that possessed 4.5 or better speed. THAT'S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT! Next Damien counted on a group of over rated juniors with poor skills and even less football fundamentals/talent to shore up a suspect senior class. THAT'S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!

This junior class will have the distinction of possessing :

1) No credible QB. Pertusati and Mendrun prove you need seasoning to get it right.
2) No credible RB. None, nada.
3) No Credible CB/SS. Too slow, too short or too afraid.
4) No credible FB for next year.
THAT'S QUITE THE ACCOMPLISHMENT!

Maybe if Morrison would have hired quality coaches at the lower levels this would never have happened. I love going to the games and seeing all those parents complaining about their son's lack of playing time or lack of fundamentals. I guess seeing their sons getting their asses kicked up and down the field without remedy has a sobering affect. The Glendora game was no different than last years TC playoff game. Same plays over and over with no help from the coaching staff. The only difference was that last year's team scores 60 on this year's version of Sparta. Scherefrode!

But all is not lost oh Spartan faithful.

Play Rabe in the Middle. Seeing that YouTube highlight reel of LA Ray Rodriguez proves Rabe ain't Div I with this DLine coach. At LA or Amat Rabe is a National Blue Chipper! ( Am I lying?)Get Okafor and Magallanes on the field.( Players need game reps) Get Gallardo some playing time. Seeing him on the sidelines is just plain wrong! Shuffle the DLine more-they're courageous but gassed. Play Mc Mahon at RB full time with Scharererer at FB full time. Use Talmo at RB at practice to simulate a big back with guts and power. Use Saenz out of the backfield to Insert RB screens, Flanker screens into the play book. Play Rabe on OlIne. Get Taylor the ball as often as 10 times a game at least. Play Pertusati at corner and Taylor at FS. Figure out why a skinny post is better than a streak when Mamahon is in at RB. Hint NO SAFETY!!!!!!! (SS's in run support)

Ayala will be tailor made for Damien. Rabe and the front 6 will have 8/10 sacks or it will rain TDs deep and often and Damien get beat again. MCmahon will run for 220 yards or Pertusati will be under pressure all night. Damien should have beaten St. John Bosco, CO and Glendora. But that's the past. Run out league and still get the patch. It can be done. Best of luck.

Hey Nero...eeerrrr...chalk talk tues.,
Rome wasn't built in a day - but it did burn in one.

We were not far removed from beating Mater Dei and Loyola and a sweep of three of the SGV's best when we hired a young, inexperienced coach...and I've said this before, "It's not his fault that he's young and inexperienced...it's ours for hiring and putting him in a position to fail!" Light the match Nero!

What kind of statement is this:
"Verti is a work in progess I agree but I will support him and back him, bad decisions or not, correct decisions or incorrect decisions he is our coach and he has done nothing for this bad rap he gets."

bad decisions...incorrect decisions...but he has done nothing for this bad rap he gets.

you're babbling and contradicting yourself! Watch it burn Nero

"...Judge him after league...."...uuummm - we did that last year.

Now it's a pretty good bet that I've been going to amat games longer than you've been alive, so I kind of get your johnny-come-lately "we'll grow with Verti" comment.

NO - we shouldn't NEED to grow with anyone. That's unacceptable. And absolutely no grudge here...no son that isn't getting PT. Just years of experience.

1st and goal on the 4...on the 1 with 3 seconds to go...and no kick? EVERY coach in the country with ANY experience kicks this for the win as time expires. EVERY one! Watch games on the weekend...EVERY coach runs the clock down...and kicks it. Look at the odds. Gain 1 yard on a goal line play when we've proved we have NO ingenuity or variety in offensive attack. (Play action? Tight end? What's that?) OR kick an extra point, which is essentially what that would have been? EASY choice. For most.

Nothing worse than an empty win. Fools gold. Invites complacency.

Kids BATTLED hard throughout 3 OTS and PROPS TO THEM! I'll back our kids that work hard to the bitter end. BUT I felt far better after the Los Osos LOSS than a St Paul win that exposed more weaknesses than showed progress. (*Other than the fact that it WAS St Paul!!!)

Thank goodness that the St Paul coach had the balls to try to end it by going for two...and the weatherman was kind to us. But it should never have come to that.

Now hope the players get themselves just as ready for Alemany (who only lost to Crespi by a touchdown).

And about the tailgating or "Amat Nation" tshirts. Did you ever go back to visit the old neighborhood and wonder , "What the #&!! happened?" Then you realize that if one or two families move out and the houses gets taken care of...it could be the great neighborhood that it was not so long ago.

Yeah...kinda like that!

TM II,

Hmm...I guess I was watching a different game than you. The game I saw, USC won inspite of Sanchez throwing for just 130 yards and two interceptions. The game I saw, McKnight won the game. He rushed for 95 yards and if he does return that punt 45 yards in the fourth quarter, USC probably loses this game. I guess your definition of struggling is different from mine and that of Webster's dictionary.

Knight 42 ;

FYI ...ARROYO Just beat the Lions .Rosemead WILL BEAT THE KNIGHTS ."HOSEMEAD " How Original...Stick to your day job .

TM

Prep watcher,

You are so full of BS. You have got to be one of the backup QB'S dad or family member. No one writes that without a grudge of some sort. Verti is our head coach and he is not going anywhere. Amat will grow with him and he will bring back the winning tradition and then you bandwagoners will have a different opinion about him. Rome was not built in a day, and our football team is playing with lots of character and heart and are still one game away from opening up league play. Why all this nonsense about this team we are 0-0 like everyone else come league play. You people who bash are idiots and do not understand the HS game of football. Prep22 you write in capitals and then double up on the same crap. We get your message and your boy is not the QB deal with it. If he was that good he would be starting. Money and a promise of a field from a dad for his kid to start..you are talking from your other pie hole. Get a life if you are not a parent and just a football fan, go watch another team, why your fixtation on Amat and the QB spot.? Amat win or lose is our team and we support our Men In Blue and Gold and our coach and his staff. Verti is a work in progess I agree but I will support him and back him, bad decisions or not, correct decisions or incorrect decisions he is our coach and he has done nothing for this bad rap he gets. Judge him after league. So with that said Prep22, if your still not satisfied then get your ass up to Chalk talk like a man would and tell Verti how you feel, but if you dont have the Huevos then STFU about it already and tell your Mijo to work harder.

No Love for Damien...Did anyone catch the mistake in todays Tribune about the Bosie St / Nevada game? Says Ian Johnson is from San Dimas High School not Damien. I can say this much, Ian is the real deal!

Who's this Jimenez clown ?
FEAR THE MEAD ? Who's going to fear Rosemead ?
Hosemead is and always will be over-rated, NOBODY FEARS YOU............

I dont see the big deal of this tailgate tradition Amat has had for years, what, it is private property and there are lots there that are eating and cooking out and not consuming Alcohol Beverages. Sure some do drink but I have yet to see anyone get out of hand, they are having a good time. I have seen people pull out a classy bottle of wine with their steak and we all know that wine is a good thing to drink with dinner, I do not see fights, I do not see urinating in public, I do not see people throwing up, I do not see drug use, I think most of the bloggers that are against this are just bashing it out of jealousy. The one Woman made it clear we are a family at Amat and there is no harm being done there but just a good get together of Amat families and friends. St. Paul had a RV there and had their BBQ going as well. That grass field is for all to come and enjoy a bbq dinner., Amat has had Loyola there to cook out, Santa Margarita brought a huge RV a few years back and had a great time there with Amat people. It is about friendships and people having fun. So to you people who want to sterotype us Amat fans that is your right but it will not change our tradition. It is not all about the alcohol as you paint it out to be. Come join us next time, our tailgates are done with the best intentions you cannot beat it. Homecoming the tailgates gets turned up a notch and we are not hooligans running the Amat Program we are responsible parents just have a good time. Sorry if it rubs some of you the wrong way, but is life we will always have the For and Against vote.

that's too bad one drunk mexican twentysomething becomes the poster boy for amat. it was not always that way.

Your judgement is clouded by biasness therefore eliminating you from acknowledgement.

will visiting fans be allowed in the Budweiser Lancer Lounge? I wonder if it will be done by this season.

I think it's great that amat and budweiser have joined forces. win win hiccup burp

"As far as Damien and Glendora go.....

RAABE is the only player on the field last Friday that will be able to play on Saturdays after his HS career is up."

Rabe is big and plays well, but as far as college goes, I'm afraid he is not college material. He do not perform at all against Glendora. Any scouts that night coming to see Rabe, would have left with several Tartan names.

Rabe deserves to be on the Tribunes top 10 defensive lineman list along with Kovar and Bowdery from Glendora. If offensive lineman are ever ranked, you must have Glendora's Jared McGarry.

BREAKING NEWS:

BISHOP AMAT HIGH SCHOOL IN LA PUENTE WILL BE ANNOUNCING LATER THIS WEEK THAT THEIR ON CAMPUS FOOTBALL FIELD WILL BE RENAMED FROM 'KEIFER STADIUM' TO 'BUDWEISER LANCER PARENTS FIELD.' IN A MOVE UNHEARD OF, THERE WILL BE A BAR BUILT IN THE WEST END ZONE WHERE THE HARD WORKING PARENTS OF AMAT WILL BE ABLE TO BOOZE IT UP FOR FREE, AS LONG AS THEIR CHILD CARRIES A 2.0 GPA OR BETTER. THE NEW BUDWEISER LANCER LOUNGE WILL ALSO ISSUE BALNKETS AND HAVE A HAPPY HOUR TYPE MEXICAN FOOD BUFFETT OPENING AT 3PM ON GAME DAY. THE PLACE WILL STAY OPEN UNTIL 3AM. AND YES THERE IS A MAYORS SUITE.

I'd like to spew my hate.....

Max Mercy:

Sanchez didn't struggle you idiot, he won the game. Wasn't this his first start in his career at USC? Dumbs**#% Thanks for wasting my time reading your post.

As far as Damien and Glendora go.....

RAABE is the only player on the field last Friday that will be able to play on Saturdays after his HS career is up.

And the reason Marcus Williams is injured and out for Damien is cause he is fat and lazy which led to his injury. I am surprised Jake Vega from Glendora is still running to be honest with you.

the AMAT parents drink in the parking lot because they feel it is their right due to the fact that the average AMAT parent spends 60%+ of their yearly earnings just to get their mijo's and mija's into that shoty private school. What a joke, I am glad the Tribune exposed them in the video. It was even worse at the baseball game last year. Drunk AMAT parents living through their kids is great..... run miho, run straight to refrigerator to get me another beer! anyone know what Verti drinks?

Here's Johnny ;
You are right . But the Trojans still seem to find a way to win . Although not pretty , a W is a W . Coach Carroll will rally his troops , as in the past . Maybe not a National Championship year , but hopefully @ very least a bowl game .

RABE AND MCMAHON ARE EXTREMELY OVERATED. GLENDORAS MCGARRY HELD RABE ALLNIGHT AND MCMAHON DIDN'T DO DOOTLEY SQUAT.

POOR PERFORMANCE. NO COLLEGE JUST LIKE MENDRUN.
ALL TALK

I am an admitted fan of Gano and of LA, so if what I post seems a bit biase, so be it.

When Gano had the horses his schemes worked, when he does not have the horses the team falls short but rarely do they get totally blown out. This may be the result of the respect he has established over the last decade, especially with quality people like Boden. LA took its worst beating in sme time the last and only time they were televised on Fox, Farrar and CO whipped 'emrel good and LA returned the favor a yearor two later.

This current Conq Squad is lacking in several areas; receivers, DB, QB and now a depleted line. The system being run by LA is its traditional system and in that it is traditional, it is also predictable. That being said, if the horses were there, it would still be formidable.

This is no reflection on the kids, but talent levels vary and SH has the horses, LA does not measure up talent wise, but that i the way it goes sometimes.

a

Hey Damien just remember, "The sun will come up tomorrow...bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow...come what may...TOMORROW! TOMORROW! I love you tomorrow...YOU'RE ONLY A COACH AWAY!!!!!

I agree Verti must resign...Amat is a Division 1 school...and in order for Amat to get back to playing the type of ball they used to play...they must have a Division 1 type of coach...then high school players who can compete and have D1 college potential will come from all over southern california..which will then sell out more games and increase sponsorships...equalling more revenue for the school thus reducing tuition...

Here are two quality coaches Amat had a chance to sign but didn't want to fork out the money...

Rick Herrington - Defensive Coordinator, Hart High School (Three CIF championships and two runner ups within the last seven years)

Dave Money - Offensive Coordinator, Mater Dei High School (Produce three standout quarterbacks in Matt Leinart, Colt Brennan, and Matt Barkley as well as running backs Mike McNair and Matt Grootegoed)

You've seen nothing great yet?

You were at the game. Maybe you are fricken blind

DREW KALUZNY

REGGIE YOUNG

MIKEY NILES

CHAD YOUNG

BRANDON BECKWITH

the only weakness lies in JAKE VEGAS pot belly.

OTHER THAN THAT THERE ARE FIVE GREAT THINGS YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN IN THE GAME LAST NIGHT BBBEEEYYOOOCCCHHHHEEEE!

AMAT WOULD GET EMBARRASSED BY THE TARTANS TOO

Posted by: Tom Carroll at October 13, 2007 07:25 PM

will we be seeing these players at the next level?

naaaaaaaaaaaa

but i will be seeing john rabe and ryan mcMahon without a doubt

LA Conq,

I believe they do or did have a QB that could get the job done. He seemed very confident and comfortable in the offense and I think he played QB all through string and summer until Tamayo arrived. I dont know the name but he was very athletic. He is fast, agile and has a pretty strong arm. Based on the type of offense LA is running, he would probably be the better fit. With the oline being banged up and somewhat depleted, a mobile QB would help buy that additional time i the pocket to complete a pass or run for a positive gain. It would definitely open up the offense and defenses would have to worry about an additional running or passing threat.

Besides that, without #84 they need to hit their receivers in space and let the athletic ability take over. Seanez in space is very dangerous. They are going to have to be very atrhletic and dynamic on offense to survive league and make the playoffs.

TM

USC has some major problems. Injuries and bad play have dropped them to #14.

Last three games have been terrible.

CONGRATULATIONS GLENDORA TARTANS .What a shocker , I NEVER thought that SEM had it in them . CONGRATS EAGLES . Anyways onward bound to next week. LOTS of Trojan Talk , I love it . I have to say that Sanchez looked pretty good , to be honest ever since last years games , I HAVE LIKED HIM . Booty throws A LOW BALL & it continupusly has costed the Trojans . But all I'll say is a WIN IS A WIN IS A WIN !!!

FIGHT ON

TM

Glendora and South Hills are literally the two best high school football teams in the WORLD!

I wish they both could be National Champions and win the Super Bowl this year!

I have to accept one of them we eventually have to lose but not until they play each other in January!

How many of their players do you think will play in Hawaii this year in the Pro Bowl?

Do you think Pasqy or Bogan should replace Dorell next year at U.C.L.A.?

Glendora and South Hills the best programs and especially the best FANS in the UNIVERSE!

Isn't there some 6'1 qb. I thought I'd seen him in one of those LA highlights

LA Fan...

I agree with you, The LA QB is not getting it done and few have confidence in him. Just out of curiosity, who do you think should take over? The problem with LA is that they don't have anyone who can effectively take over. Sure there are backups...but who exactly have you seen that you think is better than the current kid? Have you been to the games? Have you been to practice? Is there a better option?

JRod...

You're right, LA Coaches suck. My mistake. We should never, ever blame the athletes for losses.

SGV Pride,

Like I said, the players responded differently to Sanchez as well. Also it is about what the coach knows. Yes Sanchez threw a couple of picks. It was his first start. You gotta give him that. Booty threw 4 last week against a subpar Stanford team (1 win going into that game, 40+ point underdog)and he has played almost a season and a half. USC struggled with Arizona mainly due to offensive play calling. They could have put up more points, but his plays were very suspect. Carroll stepped in the 2nd half and made several offense calls himself. A few times he got right in Sarks face. That what a good coach does. You change whatever you have to, in order to win.

To all SH fans:
It's funny how all the SH supporters were no where to be found when the team was 0-2. Now that they are winning, they are all crawling out of their holes. Bunch of bandwaggoners.

SH supporters, let's hear your motto:
Win, jump on the wagon. Lose, jump off the wagon.

To all LA fans:
Everyone warned you, once your threat (McBride) has been exposed, you will start losing, unless you can put the ball in the air. Unfortunately, you can't do that either.

SHHS what a team!

So many weapons on offense Parham, Wells, Deen, Kuklinski, Glaster, Del la Fuente, Heard and the best defense around.
Can't wait for kuklinski to be back! He is the #1 linebacker in the area. Wayne Goss, Kuklinski and Bowden are beasts!

the San Antonio league sucks, including south hills

Well, Glendora blasts Damien. It's as simple as that. Damien acted as they had never seen a Wing-T offense. The funny thing is they knew Glendora would run. They prepared for it all week. Yet they couldn't stop it.

Damien will not win league. I told my son that 2 weeks ago. He still is P.O.ed at me over that.

Damien's players are NOT turning on Coach Morrison. The parents are not either. They are wondering aloud about the lack of skill players on the team. That was the main difference in the game. Outside of McMahan, Damien has no answer to Glendora's skill guys like Vega, Holmes, Gonzales, Edwards, Stockham, etc. The 2 next best athletes are the QB and the kicker (who can't play defense because of concussion problems).

Frankly, the poster who wonders why so few players are taking the field for Damien is a question I also ponder. Watching Damien in the summer and in fall camp, I felt that there were 8-10 good to great WRs. Okay...one great one in Herrera, but some really good ones as well. With Fredericks (a good one) getting hurt, that should have opened the door for a couple more to make their debuts. It didn't happen. There is alot of talent just standing around.

Losing Marcus Williams at RB is a killer.

There aren't alot of big people on the team outside of Rabe and Schmitty. There is some size, but when you think about a large private school (think Servite, Mater Dei, O-Lutheran, Santa Margarita, Crespi, SO Notre Dame) you should see bigger linemen.

Next season will be a problem if Damien does not find a good QB. Are there any at Amat who want to transfer?

So, I say congrats to Glendora. I hope you guys stomp Chino Hills. The way they acted after last season...they don't deserve to win the Sierra League...EVER!

stop hating Los Altos is garbage mcbride did nothing against south hills if he is that good he didn't show it at all friday south hills could have easily pulled away from this game but they have hearts up there and don't believe in running the score up so go somewhere with that crap about how LA is better Ray was a tight end not a game breaking quarterback or wide receiver la is one dimensional and had no dimensions against south hills friday night south hills is gunna run the table in the crappy league they play in and will do the same in the playoffs bring on el dorado and canyon

damien 2 wins in 6 games...sad.

Glendora: 21
Chino Hills: 14

Chino Hills can only run. Tartan D will prevent the run.

Should be one of the biggest battles this season for the early league champion prediction.

LA Fan,

Let's just say I have more trust in a coach and staff, which record in this area is unmatched, than a blogger who probably has no coaching credentials at all.

And for USC, if Sanchez made such a big difference, then why did USC struggle against an Arizona team that is mediocre at best?

LA fan

That anon post was by me. It put my name. But I understand what u are saying. But just because the fans want him the city wants. If he has that star appeal who cares. He made plays wit his feet ya we kno that. He threw two picks. Now booty did the same last week. But booty was on call for emergency they kept him because they didn't want to make it worse. If those two picks came againt CAL or Oregon. It would have been huge.. They would most likely score of those 2. They beat an average arizona team. Point is its not bout what the people want. Actually who cares what the people want. Its about what the coach knows. Who cares if parents are unhappy. It shouldn't matter. They aren't the ones coaching out there.

Its a given, Glendora or Chino Hills will win the Sierra League championship. This weeks game is huge and the champs will be decided Friday night. Silly to think otherwise.

damien won last years sierra league championship fair and square. they didnt steal anything. i dont really care who you root or play for, but cool it on the talk about damien stealing that game because we won, its that simple.

Posted by: d-guy22 at October 14, 2007 01:44 AM

hahahahaha your funny man! You say damien will when the league championship on week 10 against chino hills? what a joke! are you forgetting you just got KILLED by Glendora? everyone knows the league championship will be decided next week with glendora vs chino hills. Damien has a weak team this year. you will be lucky to beat ayala. you will end the season #4. you should have lost the championship game against chino hills last year. chino hills should feel cheated with that stupid last second "walk" to the end zone before anybody was set.

and why, now, all this bad talk about coach morrison. hey, this same coach was your saint last year when you stole the championship.

give it a rest. Damien is now done. it's not the coaches fault. you have a weak o line and defense is totally out of sync. your qb is a very good athlete, but way over rated. Glendora qb kaluzney is UNDER rated and really showed up your qb. what happen to your monster Rabe, again another overrated athlete.

foolish jjimenez,

whats that you say?? who wishes they were who??
well then, heres the series record to refresh your tired old memory:
ARROYO 29 nosebleed 18 and 1 tie between them... Looks like the mead wishes they were the KNIGHTS!
This year will mark the 30th time ARROYO beats rosemead/ the rivalry is nearly fifty years old! And outside of this particular match-up ARROYO has owned the MVL like its nobody's business. Check out the KNIGHTS' all time series record versus the MVL:
El Monte: ARROYO has won 34 and lost only 6
Mountain View: ARROYO has won 30 and lost only 5
SEM: ARROYO has won 10 and lost only 3 (the ten wins were in a row)
Gabrielino: ARROYO has won 7 and lost only 2

NOW THATS WHAT I CALL MVL DOMINANCE!
And dont forget the 7 straight MVL titles won when MacKinnon was head cocah!
GO KNIGHTS GO!

An Open Letter to
President of Bishop Amat Monsignor Aidan M. Carroll
and
Bishop Amat Lancer Nation (notebly AMAT 83 & Amat Alumnus too):

First of let me just say that I am huge High School Football Fan. I read the blog every night before I go to bed and finally I can't hold back any longer.

THE COACH MATT VERTI-BISHOP AMAT LANCER CONNECTION IS NOT WORKING OUT.

I agree that if Coach Verti Loves AMAT the way he says he Loves AMAT he would turn in his resignation and do what's best for the program upon the conclusion of this season.

The Football team will be heading to a lower division because of the mess that administration has created. Sad times here in La Puente. The program is imploding and the administration's too lazy and stubborn to do anything about it. I am prepared to impose sanctions on the school to operate in the City of La Puente should this problem not be adhered too quickly.

Funny how coming up with the money to create their Sports Hall of Fame and new gym has drained all of the resourses and energy to actually hire a decent coach and actually pay him what he is worth. I'd be willing to bet that Verti is making 'peanuts' compared to Bruce Rollinson over at Mater Dei and the results are evident. This new gym and Hall of Fame has spoiled the current inhabitants of the halls of Amat as it has caused them to be blinded by pride and they have lost focus on what got them there. I have learned that the most successful people in life don't bask in their own glory, they keep doing what got them there and the wins keep coming (See Coach Richard Wiard).

I'd like to see Amat bring back Coach Paredes and Eric Bienemy. Pay them the money they deserve and watch the program be restored. Look what Paredes did when he went over to Riverside North and took the services of his son with him, THAT IS WHEN THE AMAT EMPIRE STARTED TO CRUMBLE.

As far as the current coaching staff goes, just because Daelin could play doesn't mean he could coach (see Magic Johnson, not that Daelin is anywhere near the Magic man).

Funny when a man's pride is his and the programs worst enemy.

THE VERTI-AMAT CONNECTIONS IS NOT WORKING.

Bring Back Paredes and Bienemy.

Anyone know where Paredes is now? Last I heard he was coaching at Riverside North but that was when he took his stud son Joe with him and put Riverside North on the map.

Mayor Louis Perez
City of La Puente

PS Other candidates that I think could flat out coach and restore respect to the AMAT program and should be considered:

Charter Oak Chargers Dominic Farrar
Charter Oak Chargers Roger Lehigh
Glendora Tartans Bill Strycula

Who would want to touch AMAT at this point is what you really need to ask yourself. Sound off AMAT Alumni, please.

Max,

I know LA could have and should have beat South Hills on Friday. Is South Hills good? Yes, but LA could have won and had opportunities to make a comeback a win that game. My point is no player on that team or student at LA believes in their QB. Again, not me saying it, but the kids currently enrolled are making that point evident. We all know a team will struggle if they dont believe in their QB. Is the QB the entire reason? NO, I'm not saying that, but he is a very large part. Without that component, the offense is and will remain very one dimensional. We all recognize that fact. Its easy to lead when you play inferior teams and are winning, but a true measure of a leader comes during times of adversity and struggle. He doesn't show that and getting hit and getting up doesn't either.

Anon,
I was at the SC game Sat.,obviously you were not. Booty was fully dressed and ready to play. He was fully prepared to play and would have gone in if Sanchez had struggled. He played last week with the same injury you speak of. I also witneesed the reaction of the team and the fans when Sanchez hit the field. They gave him a standing O. The stadium erupted and the team responded in an entirely different manner. You could visibly see they had more confidence and trust in Sanchez. Late in the game, Sanchez at 3rd and long, in a busted play Sanchez ran for a first down. The team responded and won the game. they made plays for him. There is a difference and that is what I am saying.

I am a LA fan and a fan of the game. I have no affiliation with anyone currently on the team or staff. I just call it the way it is. LA has players that can make that difference for them and they should let them. The players cant decide who plays, but they do want to win and they want to have the best chance at it.

La Puente Citizen,
Do you really think your mayor would be posting on a highschool football blog, I think there are other important concerns on his mind than how the local highschool performs in football.

That is not the mayor you morons. He will not be able to impose sanctions on Amat because of the coach. That is funny.

Hey LA fan

U lame USC and coach carrol made a qb change because booty was hurt and couldn't go sanchez went in my default. Shut up next time pleezzz!

Hey LA fan

U lame USC and coach carrol made a qb change because booty was hurt and couldn't go sanchez went in my default. Shut up next time pleezzz!

To the Mayor,

You should be the last one to speak. Where is our Youth Center at? You should worry about city issues and not private school ones. What kind of message are you sending to the people of La Puente when you are focused on worrying about your time on private high schools and not on Public matters like a Youth Center that STILL hasn't been built. Worry about stopping the crime and gangs. Election time is coming up. You just lost my vote and the many family members in the town. AND we do have an excellent voting record.

Prepwatcher please stop with the "CAPS" there is no need to yell.

Drinking at the Rose Bowl is a college atmosphere. Drinking at Pizza Chalet/Red Devil by the District Field are public establishments. Do you really think drinking in the Amat school parking lot, which is school of kids that are 14-18 years old is the same as drinking at a public pizza place? Come on, I'd like to give you more credit than that, but your ignorance is shining through big time. I can't believe you'd compare drinking a beer at Pizza Chalet the same as drinking a beer on high school property. Outrageous.

LA Fan,

Are you comaparing losing USC losing to one of the worst teams in Division I with Los Altos losing to one of the best teams in the area, and maybe the best?
South Hills is just a better team than Los Altos right now. You could only do so much in coaching, but eventually the talent level takes over. In this case, you have two coaching staffs that probably rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the area, maybe 1a and 1b. Under that circumstance, Bogan is not going to outcoach Gano and vice versa. The difference then is the talent level, and right now South Hills has more players who can make plays and they proved it Friday.

HELLO EVERYBODY,

PREPWATCHER HERE TO GIVE YOU SOME MORE INSIGHT INTO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF AMAT FOOTBALL AND THE SELF-DESTRUCTION BROUGHT ON BY VERTI.. DID ANYONE GO TO THE GAME FRIDAY NIGHT? WOW**** WHAT A MESS...IT WAS SHOCKING TO SAY THE LEAST.
FIRST OFF, TO RESPOND TO ANONYMOUS BELOW ME...THIS IS A FOOTBALL BLOG NOT A "LETS SAVE OUR CITY BLOG" IF THAT WAS MAYOR PEREZ, HE HAS A RIGHT TO SPEAK THE TRUTH. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT GET OUT OF THE BLOG ROOM.
NOW ABOUT THE IMPORTANT ISSUES AT HAND.(THE GAME). THERE WERE SO MANY BLOWN OPPURTUNITIES OFFENSIVELY BUT WHAT REALLY SHOWED VERTI'S INEXPERIENCE WAS HIS CALL TO GO FOR IT ON THE 3YRD LINE WITH 3 SEC. LEFT INSTEAD OF A FIELD GOAL TO WIN IT. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT? DID HE WANT TO TRY AND LOSE? WHAT AN IDIOT. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THINKS THIS WAY. WHY WOULD YOU ATTEMPT A QB SNEAK(ESPECIALLY WITH A QB THAT PLAYS SCARED)? LENHART WAS HORRIBLE. THERE WERE WIDE OPEN OVERTHROWS THAT COULDVE BEEN EASY TOUCHDOWNS. SO MANY MISTAKES YET NO CHANGE IN THE ROTATION. IF IT DOESNT WORK...WHY DONT YOU FIX IT?
AMAT 83,
THERE IS OTHER QB'S ON THAT TEAM THAT LOOK GREAT AND CAN PERFORM. HOWEVER, THEY ARENT GETTING THE OPPURTUNITY BECAUSE SOMEONE'S DADDY IS PROMISING LOTS OF MONEY FOR A NEW TURF FIELD NEXT YEAR..LETS NOT FORGET, DADDY'S PART OF THE STAFF(DADDY AND SON DONT SHARE SAME LAST NAME..JUST IN CASE YOU DIDNT KNOW)..HOW DOES A SENIOR QB NOT GET A CHANCE TO PLAY AFTER A 2-4 START ?..OBVIOUSLY, THE JUNIOR QB IS NOT PERFORMING. WHY ISNT THE SOPHOMORE GETTING A CHANCE EITHER? THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
AMAT ALUMNUS,
WELL SAID...NO KIDS ARE EVER GOING TO WANT TO COME TO AMAT IF THEY SEE WHO OUR COACH IS AND WHAT HE DOES? WHY WOULD THEY PLAY FOR A COACH THAT HAS NO LEADERSHIP?
TRUE AMAT LANCER,
IF YOU ARE A TRUE LANCER, YOU WOULD REALIZE THAT THIS PROGRAM IS FALLING APART AND CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE. THEY NEED TO BE MADE STARTING WITH THE COACHES AND PLAYER ROTATIONS ALSO. YOU SEEM TO BE IN DENIAL AND IF YOU ARE A TRUE LANCER YOU WOULD WANT THE BEST FOR OUR KIDS. A 2-4 RECORD IS NOT IT*
AMAT OBSERVER,
YOU ARE RIGHT. VERTI'S PLAYCALLING IS UNEXCUSABLE AND HE NEEDS TO RESIGN TO SAVE WHATEVER DIGNITY HE MAY HAVE LEFT(IF ANY). THE PLAYERS DESERVE BETTER AND NEED A COACH THAT ISNT HARD-HEADED, AND IS WILLING TO LISTEN TO FELLOW COACHES(ESPECIALLY ONES THAT HAVE PLAYED IN THE NFL-MCCUTCHEON)..MAYBE THEY SHOULD SWITCH ROLES AND THINGS COULD BE BETTER FOR AMAT FOOTBALL. VERTI..YOU ARE WAY IN OVER YOUR HEAD.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST...I WANT TO COMMENT ON THE BLOG ENTRY BY (MAYOR LOUIS PEREZ) HOPEFULLY THAT WAS HIM...IF IT TRULY IS, EVEN THE MAYOR RECOGNIZES VERTI'S INEXPERIENCE. MANY OF YOU OUT THERE SHOULD EMAIL MIKE MANZO(THE AD AT AMAT) AND VOICE YOUR OPINION AND DISGUST OF HOW THIS ONCE PROUD TRADITION OF FOOTBALL IS CURRENTLY BEING RUN. HOW COULD HE NOT SEE IT HIMSELF? I GUESS $$$$$ IS THAT IMPORTANT TO HIM TO BE ABLE TO KEEP A LOSING FOOTBALL COACH...WHAT DO U THINK FELLOW BLOGGERS? AM I BEING A LITTLE RUDE? I DONT THINK SO...IT'S ALL FACTS AND ITS THE TRUTH...FOR THOSE THAT DISAGREE..WELL THATS YOUR OPINION AND OBVIOUSLY YOU DONT CARE ABOUT A ONCE PROUD TRADITION...NOW, JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW...I'M NOT A DISGRUNTLED PARENT NOR DO I HAVE CHILDREN..I'M JUST A FOOTBALL ENTHUSIAST AND AN INTERESTED PREPWATCHER.....

ever been to Pizza Chalet or Red Devil Pizza before or after a game at District Field? That's different, how?

So tailgating on public property in Pasadena before a game at the Rose Bowl is ok...but tailgating at Amat is "...is in the ghetto baby..."

How classic is that...Amat video tailgating. I love the guy in the Dodgers jacket talking about drinking their favorite beveridges...Amat is in the ghetto baby and their fans think it's Labor Day Weekend at the VFW Hall. Freddy, how about calling out this practice at prep games...Fred, you were at the Amat/Monrovia game last year and saw the parking lot didn't you? Come on now, I like to throw back a few too...when I'm not around high school kids. Why is this being ignored by Amat's administration and by the Tribune. The tribune calls out DiFiori big time last year for saying he wants to spend more time with his family, but no mention of tailgate drinking parties in the parking lots of games? Hmm, would only the Tribune ignore this because it's the almighty Bishop Amat? Come on Fred, you know that's newsworthy.

Hey Bloggers,

Read what Tartan Mom has to say. She's got it right. The only reason to read these blogs is to see how many ignorant fat a**** there are out there. Also, do us all a favor and educate yourself. There is a difference between; there, their and they'er. Excuse me now, I have to pry myself out of this chair and go to the gymn.
Hey Tartan Mom, will you marry me? Go Tartans!!!

Another Tartan Fan

and my boys at SHHS, Great job beating Los Altos!!!!!!!! You just proved that all that talk about them being soooo great was just smack talk. And i hope your knee gets better Damon k.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOO Tartans, we played great!!!!!!! Damien had 2 WEEKS to prepare for us and we had 1 and we worked our asses off that week and kicked gaymiens ass!!!! Fight On Tartans!

To La fan

Are you sure that you were at the LA game and not somewhere else, I was at the game and there was no boos unless it was you booing. stop being a hater and get a life these kids are doing just fine. GANO WILL PREPARE HIS PLAYERS FOR THE GAMES TO COME!! YOU MUST NOT KNOW FOOTBALL. BECAUSE OF MISSED ASSIGMENTS WE LOST THIS GAME NOT BECAUSE OF THE TALENT ON THE FIELD!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous at October 13, 2007 07:54 PM

See thats the problem with people like you Anon, you dont pay attention. The student section was booing the QB and his bad decisions on the field. These are his peers. I understand they even talk about him during the week and how "he sucks". So please run up to the school and tell the entire student body how they are such terrible young people.

Gano and staff have won four cif titles, which I believe is tied for most in the area in the past 10 years. I don't think they suddenly got dumb. There's no one to blame here, not the coaches, not the players. They just got beat by a better team, especially when you consider the injuries they have had to deal with. Just move on. I'm sure the coaches and players have

Posted by: Max Mercy at October 13, 2007 09:10 PM

So I guess USC, with all of their tradition and titles and heisman winners were just beat by a better team in Stanford too. Are you nuts? Injuries and all, Carroll made a change at QB and other positions, changed the playcalling and they won Sat. Any given game, you do what is needed and allowed to win.

ok heres how it went down, Glendora played their most perfect game they'll have this season(this was and will be their best game of the year so dont look forward to the future so much),and just like previous season they will falter and find a way to fall towards the bottom of the league again, as for damien they played their least perfect game of the season(and lost to a sucky team with less talent),their so-so right now but if they can pull off big wins in the next few weeks they should be able to stumble to win the league championship that will be decided on week 10 at damiens home field against chino hills.(again!!!)and no sooner to any other team.

i go to damien and i hear everything from all of the players... from what i hear, Coach morrison is an idiot....not alot of players have faith in him and alot of players question his play calling and decisions...this is not how a good team should be thinking. SGVGURU is right... half of the players on the bench could be impact players if they got playing time..They really need to play new players

sgvguru: Damien has over 90 players dressed out for every game. Twenty of them play in the game. 70 or so sit on the bench. The quarterback is playing safety AND quarterback. How many teams play their quarterback both ways during a game? Shouldn't the quarterback be on the sidelines when the defense is on the field to go over offensive plays? Shouldn't a safety be with his defensive unit when the offensive unit is on the field to go over defensive plays? Is it fair to said player and the team as a whole? There are seniors on Damiens team who have not touched the ball at all in this, their last year of football. There is talent sitting on the bench, fresh legs and energy. Would it hurt to put them in a game that is already over?

The Damien stands were pretty quiet last night! Disbelief at the play calling. I'm still scratching my head on the punt the ball on 4 and inches and then go for a run up the middle on 4 and 3 on the next series. What the h&*^ is that?
What did anyone have to cheer about?

The boys and parents are not the problem. Coaching however IS A HUGE PROBLEM!

MAX im ot trying to say that the staff "got dumb", and your right, you cant argue with success, so maybe "not-motivated" anymore is a better word, or the fact that they were spoiled with some ridiculous talent in the past, and now that they have to teach its not happening.Another thing that is sad about your post is the fact that since SH is in our divison and if we do get the chance to play them again, what are the kids supp. to think after hearing from the coaches last night"they are just a better team", WHY even take the field against them again? I wish the best for LA, but blaming the KIDS for the coaches inadequacies is sad sad sad. And to Reverand Riley, if you dont like it dont read it.

Week Five: 10-13-07

SGVJAA Midgets:

WestCo Bruins - 20 . . 3-0-1
Charter Oak - 14

Next Game: 10/20 vs. Lincoln Heights

Vanner,
Nice win for your Huskies, to beat a good team like L.A. is a quality win that most teams in the sgv can't do. Looking forward to the battle of Cameron St too, we will be heavy underdogs, but our boys are learning & growing every week, hopefully they will progress enough to make a good game on Nov.2, but first we have a big task at hand with C.Oak. this week.

J Rod
Coaches coach, players play Blah, Blah ,Blah, YAWN
Wooden Says Blah, Blah, Blah..Heres a tip. Keep your posts short. If WE want to be preached to. We will go to church. You actully think people care? People come on this blog to hate, nobody listens.

Come on please don't make the game of the week CO and West Co. This game is going to be a beat down like West Co has never seen, well until they play South Hills. West Co has a great strong fast running back named Issac Tucker and thats about it. They have no pass rush and no linebackers. So this is how this game is going to go. CO will pass all over them like Ayala did and run all over them like Rancho did.West Co will win more games againts bad teams but they don't have the talent to compete againts good schools. Next year might be a diffrent story.

to LA CONQ.....i saw this post and i did somewhat agree....I once had the opportunity to meet a man by the name of John Wooden he told one thing that absolutely stuck to me "players win and coaches lose"...to the comments you made above, YES youre right coaches cant physically catch a ball and no they cant physically pik up a blitzing linebacker, and they especially cant read a defense at the line of scrimmage....but what coaches can do is FIND someone who can catch, know that the DEF is gonna blitz, and help the quarterback with reading coverages...the bottom line is the "teaching" aspect at LA is next to none...for example the secondary is making the same mistakes they have been making since week one, not reading the 3 step, and not flying at the rare 5 step, number 11 would be a really good safety for them but for some reason he is staying at corner(looks hurt by the way)...Number 1 who is on the grounf every game should only be going ONE way, or whould be hidden at CORNER and not expected to make tackles at safety(a position the kid has never played).....what i am trying to say is thatyou cant let the coaches off the hook here, it is ALL there Fault, and it always should be you should never blame a kid for somethig nhe isnt prepared for and i know for a fact that those kids werent prepared this week, and havent been for many other weeks as well, TELLING a kid "watch out for the blitz" and "catch the ball", or "cant you read the coverage!!!!"...is nothing like TEACHING AND SHOWING the kid how to do these things in practice OVER AND OVER AGAIN.....coaching is done in practice....ive never had he opportunity to play the game but some things can be taught by anyone, LIKE RUNNING TO THE BALL DEFENSIVELY!!!!!! EVERY PLAY!!!......I am a LA fan I have seen the majority of the practices and games for the past 5 years but dont blame the kids yes they do make "dumb" decisions but take responsibility for your team and step it up elsewhere....LEAD them...Guide Them....teams take on the personality of the coaching staff.....

mr. faithful, you are my elder and wisdom should follow yet it lacks. Your team could not get past turkey day in D6 with how many kids in your school. CHECK WITH YOUR SCHOOL AD ABOUT THE CONTRACT JACKA$$. YOU CANCELLED!

Blind FAITHFUL,
I was not the first person to bring this up today but its fact. I know, plug your ears and close your eyes and wish it away. It has become common knowledge that glendora did not sign back up due to a few kids actions after the game that happened to be caught on tape. Don't believe me you A$$, check with your ad and coach before you call me a liar, you guy's got out and everyone seems to know except your fans. This is why you people make others SICK, no FACTS. Check it out.

South Hills Did dominate L.A.. The score was not indicative of the beating L.A. took last night.Walnut here we come!
Hey Dan,
I did speak to Mr. Wells and said hello. This Huskie Team is looking completely assembled and Rollin !, I can't wait for the Battle of Cameron Ave. !

Its pretty sad when all you can do is criticize these kids and their coaches If any of you tyhink that you can do better then why are you waisting your time writting these stupid comments and not applying for their jobs since you think you know better. To all the rest of you the last time I checked it takes more than 2 players to make a team so the loss of 2 players doesnt mean that its all over for the rest of the team. Remember all the teams that they have played and some they have beaten in these pre season games have been div.1 schools. But what is really sad is that the highlight of these teams season seems to be to beat LA even if they are games that dont count and arent even league games. How do you know that they arent saving themselves or dont have a secret weapon or plan up their sleves and are waiting for the real thing to use it . If I were you I would be careful what you write cause you have to eat it.

The game of the week should be West Co. v. Charter Oak. This could be a preview of a late round playoff game. For those who say West Co. is "lack luster" that offense will run the ball on anyone. The defense just has to show up and West Co. can beat anyone they play. The other games are games of nobodies and Glendora will blow out Chino Hills, so give it to the West Co. kids they need to know how it feels for the media to be hanging over them before its pressing in on them from two sides when they play South Hills.

GARGLEMY?,

I would find that difficult to believe that Glendora and Pasqy would not renew our contract with C.O. Both schools are having too much success and the rivalry seems to be what crosstown rivalries are suppose to be and everything that goes with that no different than U.S.C. vs. U.C.L.A. Pasqy realizes how important that game is to us and that we have to be able to compete with Charter Oak every year if we want the respect we are earning and deserve on the field! Stop with the rumors because us Tartans aren't afraid of anyone, no one! We outplayed and outcoached Damien last night and after next week will go undefeated in league and gain a seed in C.I.F. I hate "haters" and you my need to respect your elders!

The tartans played hard and they played well but those trick plays chhs used were uncalled for therefor we lost. If we could take those back we might have won. I don't back-track, i just tell the truth.

Thank you, played dad, mr.v #33
Tribune: take video of glendora fan and you will see the same thing as amat fan.

to Alex Acosta and the rest who think like him,

you cant compare how good teams are by the way each of them played another team..EX: Damien/CO and Glendora/CO...football is football and anything can happen...Glendora gets my respect, but i havent seen nothing great yet. i dont believe that they are one win away from wrapping up league. They beat a Damien team that has coaching problems last night so im not convinced

To GO TARTANS and all who are trying to keep peace in this Forum,

f**k that... Damien does have a good program, but needs a new coach....Glendora fans need to be quiet until we see that league title in your hands.. im tired of seeing all of you talk about how good these kids are.... let them f***ing play and we will see who comes out with the sierra league

Hey Tartan Ma,
tell your husband to get off the computer and we wouldnt mention your tartans. I thought glendora mom was way to above knowing about AL

FRED, would you investigate as to why glendora would drop co. this is a great game that should be played every year. they play for a trophy every year and its going to be stopped, why? whats next, the smudgepot or the la wilson game. these politics suck, i dont know who is to blame but it stinks.

Hey guys get your own lives do you think these kids are sitting around talking about all of you Al Bundys

Thats why you are fat and us wives can't stand you. Go work out and leave our kids alone the game is over!

Tartan Mom

ALEX ACOSTA,

I THINK DAELIN IS ACTUALLY TRYING TO HELP THE LANCERS. HE CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH WITHIN HIS POWER. VERTI IS JUST SELFISH AND SEEMS TO NOT LISTEN TO A THING HIS STAFF TELLS HIM. IF YOU ARE ON THE STAFF AND THE HEAD COACH DOESNT LISTEN TO A THING THEN OBVIOUSLY THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO. VERTI'S TRAIN OF THOUGHT IS "ITS MY WAY AND THATS IT"...YOU CAN TELL BY THE PLAYCALLING AND GAME DECISIONS...WELL, I GOTTA GO NOW BUT I WILL BE BACK TOMORROW TO READ ANY RESPONSES TO MY BLOG POST.

oh god EVERYONE is on glendoras jock again . cuz they beat an AVERAGE damiien team. do they need to play charter oak again for a realatiy test??

ted

PREPWATCHER22:

Do you think Daelin is helping the Lancers or hurting the Lancers? From what you know can he coach?

I heard he is contributing money for the turf schmurf field too and thats how come administration let him back on the coaching staff against Verde's wishes. Please comment.

I coached Basketball at AMAT back in the day. I am now a Loyola Cub and life is much better. I can't think of why Daelin would want to go back there. BISHOP AMAT HIGH SCHOOL in the heart of gangland that is LA PUENTE is a fast sinking ship that not even a young washed up NFL Player can keep afloat. That is why Lok, Mark Parades, myself and even DiFiori went ashore.

HELLO EVERYBODY,

PREPWATCHER HERE TO GIVE YOU SOME MORE INSIGHT INTO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF AMAT FOOTBALL AND THE SELF-DESTRUCTION BROUGHT ON BY VERTI.. DID ANYONE GO TO THE GAME LAST NIGHT?
I DONT THINK SO...IT'S ALL FACTS AND ITS THE TRUTH...FOR THOSE THAT DISAGREE..WELL THATS YOUR OPINION AND OBVIOUSLY YOU DONT CARE ABOUT A ONCE PROUD TRADITION...NOW, JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW...I'M NOT A DISGRUNTLED PARENT NOR DO I HAVE CHILDREN..I'M JUST A FOOTBALL ENTHUSIAST AND AN INTERESTED PREPWATCHER.....................

haha, these bloggers. its only prep sports!! these kids are 17 18 years old! after high school they will make their own lives!!! its funny how you guys argue about pity little things. amat, glendora, wtf?! who cares!!!!!!its just high school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALEX ACOSTA

WHAT ARE YOUR QUESTIONS?

love the drucken amat parents drinkin their 'favorite beverages' classic! that video just made my weekend - exposed by the tribune hahaha

Anonymous at October 13, 2007 04:32 PM

First, D6 EL DO (CIF SS Champs)would crush your program as well. Second, do you really think the CO vs GHS game really proved anything? Glendora beat Damien, Etiwanda and West Ranch; three very good programs. Damien tied CO, Etiwanda beat Los Osso and West Ranch wins games against teams in a very tough league.

Think again before you mouth off!

Posted by: s at October 13, 2007 03:44 PM

When people post hurtful statements about my sons school, I will respond with passion. Tell the haters to stop posting "hahahaha" hate statements and you will see less posts having to defend the program.

Do we have a deal?

Fred:

NO Way Glendora/CHHS.

CHHS is not even a SGV local team covered by the Tribune. Keep it in the area!

Glendora wins one game and now their for real again? Come on they got crushed by a D6 team last week and CO beat them also.

the tribune won't touch any story that would hurt or expose AMAT thats why I left they don't report the truth and thats why theyll never be the los angeles time

i like verti too he is a nice guy.

but he is a horrible coach! to quote the mayor of la puente.

"Funny when a man's pride is his and the programs worst enemy."

that why he is the mayor.

i have some questions for PREPWATCHER22
will you answer them right here right now PREPWATCHER22? let me know and I will post them

FRED

THIS WONT BE ABOUT PLAYERS THAT HAVE LEFT. IT WILL BE ABOUT PLAYERS THAT HAVE STAYED.

Prep watcher, I'm always willing to listen, but in my conversations with some parents and players who have left the program, it didn't seem like Verti was the problem. He's a young coach experiencing growing pains. Why players are leaving, have been asked to leave, or aren't going there anymore is much deeper than him.

Can McClutcheon coach? no one knows that please do tell PREPWATCHER22

FREDJ,

YOU WILL SOON FIND OUT THE TRUTH OF AMAT FOOTBALL TOWARDS THE END . YOU MIGHT BE SOUGHT OUT FOR AN INSIDE SCOOP OF THIS SEASON AS WELL. YOU WILL REALIZE WHATS GOING ON WITHIN THE PROGRAM AND YOUR OPINION ON VERTI WILL CHANGE. I GUARANTEE IT.

The covina-nv game was 7-7 at half but then nv scored 31 unanswered points. this covina team must learn how to respond when they are down. Being a nv fan there is nothin better than beating down on your rival but this game should have not been out of hand. But #31 from covina is an absolute beast. Arguably the best d linemen in the valley.

Personally, I like Verti. I don't know about yesterday's decision to go for a touchdown instead of kicking a game-winning field goal, but given what Amat's willing to spend on a head coach, I think Verti's a good choice. You've got to give him room to grow, and I don't believe he's the problem. Like I've stated before, Amat needs to start over, and that begins with scheduling. They need to talk too and convince the Los Altos', Charter Oak's, Glendora's, Diamond Ranch's and South Hills' into playing them to reclaim their status as the best team in the SGV. If they do this, and win, players will want to go to Amat again. There is no doubt there is enough talent in the SGV for Amat to compete with the best in the Southland, but losing doesn't attract anyone. People want to play for winners, and right now Amat isn't winning.

anonymous, TEN people typing one hundred hits a day does not equal a huge fan base.

Will you admit that if you tone down and the kids win out that the rest of us might respect you more. Your like the girl you try to dump but won't stop calling.

I hear there is talks of actually bringing DiFiori back.

Where is that guy too. I personally would like to see Paredes back in the Blue and Gold. That guy was solid 1st Class Citizen and a winner.

and can you believe he actually went to St.Paul? Maybe Paredes son Joe is coaching somewhere and could come back to where his father was the greatest football coach AMAT ever had.

Hey Fred maybe you could start screening people for the AMAT Head Coaching position at the Trib offices and then we'll all go to confront Rosingnol Caroll along with the Mayor of LP and the tailgating fans and turd parents of AMAT and actually get this process going?

I know Arim would help if you asked him too.

Enough, I believe we had the Northview-Covina game on the front page today. Sorry there were no photos, but we can't please everyone. I think most would agree the game of the week was No. 1 Los Altos against No. 4 South Hills. But I felt the Northview-Covina game should go on the front page instead of Glendora-Damien, which was another good game.

Bishop Amat Tailgate Parties = Drinking in the parking lot of high school games. Is that supposed to be cool? I was sickened last year at Amat-Monrovia CIF Baseball game. Amat parents were drinking alcohol and going into a CIF game buzzed. That's why the rest of the SGV doesn't care for you...it's not because of your success or lack of success for that matter. If you were at the baseball game last year, you would know what I'm saying. The only funny thing was seeing some of the cars with the Amat "A" on the back of their car being pulled over by Riverside police.
Besides, fair coverage is not going by "hits", maybe some of the classier people from the SGV don't spend all their time on blogs like you do.

Enough, if you remember (during Aram days), the Tribune probably had video games of the week three, maybe four times all of last year. This is because we have one video guy to shoot games for the Tribune, Whittier and Pasadena Star-News areas, so we share it. It was Whittier's turn this week, and they chose the St. Paul-Amat game, so we were fortunate to have it. In fact, we've been very fortunate to have a video game of the week every week since the season started, because when it was Whittier's turn (La Mirada-Charter Oak, Bishop Amat-St. Paul) and Pasadena's turn (Los Altos-St. Francis), they were kind enough to include games with teams from our zone. The REAL games of the week are the ones we shoot for the cover. Hope this makes sense to you.

STOP ALREADY

"There are many other schools and fans that exist outside of your royal city" - - Why not tell all these other school fans to come on the blog and support their team.

No other fan base comes close to Glendora and Amat as far as numbers. Don't believe me, go to any home or away game of Glendora's or Amat and see for your self these teams will always have more fans than their opponents.

Large fan base = many blog hits. These two teams will always generate more hits.

It is the mayor I just spoke wit him a little while ago

It is the mayor I just spoke wit him a little while ago

It is the mayor I just spoke wit him a little while ago

haha the mayor of la puetne is hating on amat too? haha that is great who's coming after verti next Arnold?

Verti does have to go. What a looser.

you gotta love the classeless parents drinking on campus at AMAT before the game what turds. what examples.

lucky they are a private school otherwise their drunken tailgating ways would be taken away by a school district.

mayor of la puente? right. he's probably hung over too.

you've been had fred

yeah

Its not the mayor guys, you think a city mayor would make a post like that?

Fred,
This mayor, if it is, is a crackpot. He's about to impose sanctions on the program...Does he think he's Miles Brand of the NCAA now...You're the fricken mayor of La Puente, one step above a police reserve. Come on Fred, you going to even respond to this guy? I don't know or care how Verti is doing at Amat, but if I was him I would tell this mayor to go F--- himself. Who is he to impose sanctions...how about cleaning up the city and getting rid of the tagging or the gang problems.

Fred,
Time to call you out this week. Enough is enough. First, glad you're here, wasn't a big fan of AT for variety of reasons. My beef is the coverage that Amat receives...They're stinkin 2-4 and they are one of the games of the week and you have video on them and their tailgate parties...Come on Fred, it's bad enough that they're in the top 10 still, but to have another game of video on them is ridiculous. One of the best high school rivalries in the valley is Northview - Covina game and there is no photos or video of that game. Ok, there was some other good games too, but showing Amat again sucks. What is the fascination with these guys? They have sucked for years.

SHUT THE F UP GHS,
Every game has to be about the tartans well i think i can honestly say that we've had enough. There are many other schools and fans that exist outside of your royal city. The only time i've ever cared about chino hills was when my tee time at Los Serranos "south course" was. GOOD LUCK in league but please keep in mind that your ranking in this paper has no impact at all on your CIF rankings. Win league and prove to the guys at CIF that you deserve a high ranking.

You should also be happy "sort of" that your two losses are to two highly ranked teams, this will factor in to a high ranking if you run the table.

If that's really Mayor Perez, please, give me a call on Monday or I'll be in contact with you..

Mark Paredes is currently serving as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Riverside Community College.

someone contact Paredes please.....

Mayor Louis Perez

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Way to bring on the heartache!

Amat Observer

Very good point. Why not kick the ball and go for the win. Mayber perhaps Verti is coaching on emotion instead of with his head that is filled nothing. The kids deserve better.

I will email the the President of Amat too thatnks Mayor!

What has happened to AMAT?????
It was never like this when I was playing there.

Get Verti out now.

Fred,

Regarding Game of The Week

Not a difficult call at all. More riding on the outcome of the Glendora/Chino Hills game than any of the others. Due to scheduling, this game may actually determine the Sierra League champion. It will also be the most exciting to watch due to player to player matchups. Chino Hills likes to run. They will have there hands full with the Tartan D which tends to do better against the run.

After the Glendora win over Damien, only Chino Hills statistically stands in the way of a league championship for the Tartans. Chino Hills will still have to face Damien. Note: I am not downgrading Ayla. Ayla will be tough competition this year. But, the Tartans should win that game.

Game of the Week, HANDS DOWN, Glendora vs Chino Hills. Don't miss this game Fred!

I watched the Amat game to see what all the fuss is about Verti. And all you Verti haters have legit reasons.

3 seconds on the clock 4th QTR, Amat on it's first yard line. The kicker is more accurate and consistent than the run and you opted to run the ball down the gut. Wagner is stopped dead in his track because St Paul defense already figured out this one dimensional offense. Game goes to 3OT. The players are tired and now we are risking uneccessary injury to these exhausted players, because of this boneheaded decision. Exciting game, no doubt because we won...had the St. Paul runner not slipped during the 2pt conversion due to the rain in OT #3, we lose.....game over. Win or lose Verti's poor play calling is unexcusable.

This is not about what the fans think, it's about recognizing and taking accountability that the kids are not receiving the quality leadership that they deserve.

Hey S*** Happens if you don't think all of Westwood is calling for UCLA's Dorrell's head.....I have news for you.....they are.

JJIMENEZ
Oh 4 two, hommie!
your Panthers and Swordsman let you down
maybe now you'lll slow your rolll on all that Lancer smack!
"Keep your heads up and learn from this experience" Ha! Ha!
you sure don't use that line when it comes to Bishop Amat, do you?

With them it's "done, over, living in the past, never regain the glory, etc, etc"

INSIDE WORD,
You are 100% INCORRECT. Glendora would not renew due to specific reasons and CO winning was NOT one of them. I ask you only to ask your AD and coach P. for the reasons given to Coach Lou and Joey Strycula. CO is already trying to find games to fill GHS and La Mirada who have both chosen not to re-up.

To S Happens;

Quality post. Damien's got a good coach (won league last year on some of you are calling for his head? That's wack), you guys have a solid program and great kids. Sounds like some attitudes in the stands may need some adjusting, but I'm sure you'll be back at our throats next year. Glendora is the better team THIS year and it showed, but you'll still make CIF I predict. As for our games and schedule, great points. I believe we beat CO if we play again (common games against Damien make that look to be the case), but El Do looked to be a better team. We should have been in that game, but we needed to play our very best to beat them. The local DVI boys better improve if they want to wear their division crown this year. (IMO)

As for Game of the Week Fred? You KNOW what I think. But I really can't see an argument for any those other games for 3 reasons: Our game should be the toughest to call, it SHOULD decide the league champ (although much still to play) and it's the highest level game with the biggest crowd. GHS will bring busloads to the Hills new digs. This is one of the biggest games for the Tartans in years. Pasqy has yet to win league and this looks like his best chance.

Rosemead kids. Keep your heads up and learn from this experience, thats all you can do now. It's only one game and you have many more to come.

FEAR THE 'MEAD!!!! WAR PANTHERS!!!!

la conq, If you don't like being called TRAITOR, then try supporting the team you say you love. The coaches know what they have and what they don't have. I will say this, the team had a 4-2 record in non - league games. Not bad for games that don't count. Yes, they have problems, Oh well! But, If you feel that you have to criticize the young men on this team, then Go for it! Be a man, and put your real name here so the rest of LA's fans can know who you are. Then you can find out what we really think about what you have to say, even if it is all B.S.

Alright man, know you don't like the Tartan faithful cause they do talk a lot of smack...But, there should be only ONE game to go to next week:
CO should and likely will dominate a lackluster West Co team.
Baldwin Park?Man, you have a thing for low level teams...They're gonna get demolished next week.
Workman-Duarte?Are you serious?Let's repeat that, again.Workman-Duarte?Come on now, you've had enough terrible games put on the schedule this year and its about time you caught a glimpse of some real stellar squads from Div 2.Glendora-CO will decide the Sierra League title this season.Remember CO still has to face Damien who I think is going to bounce back and give the league a good scare.I think Damien has the chance to win the last 4 in league including CHHS...And that means the Tartans really have to show up against the Huskies because a win and they control their own destiny...
Come on now Fred! You know what game it should be.At least out of those four you posted./

SaintsR4real at October 13, 2007 10:38 AM

The Saints need to come out with a lot more intensity come next Friday. Coming off the emotional win of Bonita, Saints were flat for the first half. Second half they established control and set tone of the game. Very good adjustments.

Good learning lesson!

Its no secret, every team will be gunning for us. Stay focused and take one game at a time.

Hey, I can't understand all these posts calling for Morrison's head. Give me a break! S**** happens! The Spartans lost to a better Tartan team. Come on now! Did everyone call for the coach's head after USC and UCLA lost? These were bad loses as USC and UCLA were playing lesser talent.

Glendora has lost two games they should have won considering the Tartan overall talent. Again S*** happens! Damien put up the best fight they could last night playing what will most likely be the Sierra League champs this year. Hold your head up Spartans, come back next week with renewed energy!

And for those posters who keep degrading Tartan opponents, STOP. Tartans have been tested over and over again. They have huge wins against very good opponents and they have some losses, if replayed, would probably yield different results.

hail to the huskies, oh by the the way ,who beat the south hills and what is their win-loss record of those schools ?

THE SCORE WAS NORTHVIEW 38 COVINA 13
NOT 14.. THE COLTS MISSED A FG
GREAT GAME FOR VARSITY, JV AND FROSH GO VIKES!!!

CONGREULATION SOUTH EL MONTE ON A GREAT WIN''''YOUR PLAYING LIKE LEAGUE CHamps,FORGET THAT PRE SEASON CRAP, THATS ONLY FOR RATINGS, DONT MEAN A THING. ONLY GOT ARROYO LEFT, AND THEY GOT THERE BUTT"S KICKED BY ALHABRA, WHICH WE DEFEATED.DONT GET ME WRONG ROSEMEAD IS A VERY GOOD TEAM THEY HAVE A MONTER OL/DF LINE. WE JUST MADE THE BIG PLAYS, ROSEMEAD WILL GO ON TO THE PLAYOFFS,THEY ARE BIG , FAST AND STRONG.BETER THAN SAN DIMAS ANYTIME.., ONCE AGAIN, HOW ABOUT THEM EAGLES""""""""GO SEM, GO GAREY, GO TOMMY, GO MENDOZA, GO ACOSTA, AND THE REST OF THE TEAM,,

Why is stating the obvious considered being a "traitor"? I can't speak for LA fan, but for myself...I love Los Altos football. I post issues and problems that I see with the team to see what other LA fans think about them. I'm not on this blog to tear down kids or be an asshole.

But let's face it, if we're not allowed to criticize kids then we can't criticize the team. I guess we could blame everything on the coaches, and trust me, they have their fault in all of this too, but that's usually a cop out. Coaches can only do so much. Coaches can't catch a perfectly thrown ball. Coaches can't preset read a defense for a QB. Coaches can't block a blitzing linebacker.

When I criticize MY Conquerors it's because I want to see them get better. You guys are probably the same ones who are too afraid to punish you kids because then you think you'll be a bad parent. Success isn't about being myopic and refusing to see the bad side of reality, that's foolish...it's about acknowledging the negative and working to improve.

Don't ever call me a traitor again until you tell me your true thoughts about Los Altos. If you tell me you think they're fine then...well, read above.

Amat Alumnus......

You sir are the worst kind of fan. It's all about you and not the kids.

You have no idea what winning with dignity is.

Bishop Amat and St. Paul both played their hearts out last night. Your boys beat a good St. Paul team last night. I have the utmost respect for your boys after last night and I hope they have a good finish to the rest of the season.

I have many friends whose kids go to Amat and you do not have half the class they do.

SOUTH HILLS did dominate...la had no offense...there were terrible calls in favor of la and they didnt take advantage of the refs being on their nuts...SOUTH HILLS is killin it...undefeated in league!!

Damien #1 problem is team unity..Starts with the parents in the stands..They yell about how each of their own kid does, but never shouts encouragement for other kids. I have never seen the display of this crap last couple years. Not even 1 Spartan jumped up and down with excitement on the sideline.Just a horrible display of team spirit {or lack of}..The parents need to really care about the other players and not just their kid.Root for all the kids to do well. The lack of teamwork will not get anybody into the playoffs.
The action on the sideline was embarassing for the alumni and for future Spartans. The greatest example of team spirit was just last year...The team had no real big super stars, they had 50 kids that played together as a team and respected one another..As for the team captains, I think a closed door meeting is needed to cascade the message to all the players on the team.I really hope this tiny message gets to the players before its to late..More than that I hope some parents take heed of this also and wake up before the season is over...It's coming fast. Especially for the senoir class, there is only 4 games left in your high school days. SPARTANS BE PROUD, RALLY AROUND EACH OTHER

Fred make the Duarte and Workman your game of the week. That's a game right up your alley (easy to GUESS who will win)

Arroyo wishes they were the 'Mead.

Fred:

West Covina at Charter Oak (CO)
San Dimas at Baldwin Park (SD)
Glendora at Chino Hills (GHS)
Workman vs. Duarte at La Puente HS (DUARTE)

The only real game here is Glendora vs Chino Hills. The others are simply one sided. Glendora will beat Chino Hills in a nail biter. Two of the very best (D2) teams in the valley. Winner here will be Sierra League champion.

Fred J.

Game of the week:

San Dimas @ Baldwin Park....should be a great game. Braves at home trying to bring Saints first loss!!

A lot of people will be rooting for Baldwin Park.

Rest assured, "Saints Keep Marching On".

You are worse than an idiot! You are the moron type that continues to belittle all Tartan opponents. Face it son, Damien has a very talented team (Tribune #1 QB and one of the best D-lineman in the valley). They are not a push over by any means and could very well finish second, behind the Tartans, in league. The Tartans dominance tends to make great teams look bad. If I were Chino Hills, I would take a good look at Tartan films this week and come out of the gates fighting. Glendora needs to be mentally prepared next week. This will be a great game. My prediction:

Glendora 21
Chino Hills 14

A win for Glendora against Chino Hills next week will seal up a league championship. Though we need to watch out for Ayla. They will be this years dark horse.

Anonscence @ 9:49 & 9:59 (Same fool)
You bitter little drunk. Dont worry its not your fault, blame somebody else for your misery. You sad little girl. Damien does not need you and Glendora wont have you. You would fit in with the Amat crowd. Classless posters..Sleep it off, ass

to all people who are on the glendora football teams sac....in cluding the team....

-Wow you beat Damien, a team that surely does need some coaching intelligence.. what a F***ing suprise....not
- do you really think you will beat Chino hills... hahaha
- all i can say is, Chino Hills should run away with league.... And if the real Damien football players dont show up, they arent going anywhere and are in for a long second half.

the tartans are not that good..... Damien just has a wack coach.. the spartans have to really great jv and freshman teams who could make an impact in a couple of years.

You know it's tough times for a prognosticator of HS Football scores when he is looking for a Riverside Christian win on Saturday to bring him to .500 for the week. BUT, I am man enough to admit when I have made a mistake, and I made so many this week I better be getting good at admitting them.

SO: To the Tartan and Lancer fans, my apologies for doubting your guys. You've both stung me more than once this year and now, a reverse sting. You picked the right time to bear down for sure.

Northview, Walnut, Arroyo, Rowland, Gabrielino, and SEM: You stepped up and proved me wrong, (FWIW).

Ayala: Huge win here, I thought this was going to be a close win for the Brahmas; BULL, the Sierra League will be the most fun to follow in 2007.

Gotta go, I think I see my bookie coming around the corner.

Any thoughts on next Friday's game of the week. Four games I'm considering...
West Covina at Charter Oak
San Dimas at Baldwin Park
Glendora at Chino Hills
Workman vs. Duarte at La Puente HS

Lens crafters, I didn't "see" them getting stomped last week by El Dorado either.

Northview 38 Covina 14
What a thumping that Covina took at the hands of Northview. The rivalry is in full effect and the tide has swayed back to Northview's side. In fact, the Vikings lower levels swept also, so the program was 3-0 this week.
What a game and what a crowd. It was great to see that colt being dragged on the field at halftime by the Northview fan. Fight On Vikings!!! We want the Saints.

Glendora 35 - Damien 14

Quote: "Didn't see them putting a whipping on the Spartans like this"

Fred you "didn't see" because you have no knowledge what we are about, and about to do.

GHS is for real

INSIDE WORD IS... NO COMFIRMATION REGARDING GLENDORA PULLING OUT OF CO CONTRACT. THIS MAY NOT EVEN BE TRUE. HOWEVER, WORD IS COVINA PULLED OUT OF GLENDORA CONTRACT. WEST COVINA WILL REPLACE COVINA AND PLAY THE TARTANS NEXT YEAR.

Response to: Damien's TALMO & HAYWOOD & HERRERA

Your Glendora families are proud of each of you. You continue to be an intricate part of your team....and that is what shines everytime you compete. Continue to evolve for the season is long and success is for the taking.

FYI: Stay healthy and best of luck during the season.

PLAID LAD

Opps how could I forget my buddies at Amat!

Joe Amat, Blu, and MAT.....

The fruits of victory are sweet especially when you leave it all out there on that field.

Nice job guys!

Late!

RE:TARTAN ARE FOR REAL!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO true are your words!
If the Tartans can come to each game with that winning attitude, no one will stand in their way.PERIOD. I think the team should add an "inspirational/mental" coach to the staff to keep the players fired up every game. Their attitude really lags behind their abilities. Lots of "internal combustion" going on with this very talented team. Hopefully they can get beyond the psych crap and continue to show the SGV they are the "complete" team which has been advertisied.

Stay confident Tartans. Lets keep mentally and physically healthy!

Greetings!

I am Mike the Clone and you are NOT!

Good Job "Bagpipers"!

And great job O-line rebounding and learning from last week.

"The Kaluz" I hate to say it Clone "haters" but I told you so about this kid "Kaluz" This kid is maturing nicely. Drew your developing patience and finally have a receiving group who finally holds onto the ball unlike last year.

So as to not to bloviate much more I'd like to sum it up with some borrowed lines from my fellow "bagpiper" Plaid Lad.

"The above illustrates just how GHS should come to play each down. This was a great performance that needs to be repeated this next week against a tough challenge in CHHS.

GHS fans and players need to fly under the radar and be ever vigilant for there is plenty of work to complete before celebrating victories."

And to borrow a line from "Vic the Brick Jacobs" (AM 570 The Loose Cannons 12-4 M-F) to all those Damien guys in here popping off this past week..........

EEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT IIITTTT!

(Sorry hate to kick you around when your down but just had to throw that in)Just having some fun with you guys so don't get all bent out of shape OK.

I am OUT....

Good Night Now!

Mike the Clone

Good Morning Football Fans: Congratulations to Glendora and Coach P. I can only hope that someday Damien could get a coach who can (1) teach boys how to use their God given talent and (2) have more plays in the play book other than, "run the ball up the middle for a gain of one. Once again the not so "Mighty Mo" thinks that there are 10 downs to make 10 yards. Of course the play that did work, run to the outside and turn the corner, was only repeated 3 or 4 times last night. Not so "Mighty Mo" must have thought that we were gaining too much yardage on these calls so they weren't repeated too often. Two weeks to prepare and NOTHING to show for it.

To Dan and the rest...

I dont have a kid on the team this year, but I know good and bad football when I see it. The home crowd booing the QB has nothing to do with me. Former players on the field badmouthing the QB and receivers is not me. All the comments I made in my earlier post, were comments I heard on the field last night. All I'm guilty of is not stating that fact earlier. A QB getting hit during a game and getting up and playing the whole game does not qualify them as a great or even a good QB. This team could be better and should be. South Hills was good, but they were beatable by LA.

Response to: Tartans are for Real

Great post!...and there is nothing like doing the Tartan-jig anytime a victory comes a calling.

The plaid crew performed last night like no other. The real test will be how they parlay that feeling of victory and pure execution into next weeks game against CHHS and the speed of Harris and company.

What disappoints is knowing how good we are, or could be, but for some reason failed to prove-it against pre-season games we actually won. The type of burning energy displayed last night must be part of our stable everytime we suit-up and take the field.

Maybe our opponents have nothing to do with beating us....we beat ourselves.

FYI: Joe Amat and crew, great victory!...walk softly and carry a big stick.

What a joke Dude! You come on here and talk crap about a team that just beat you!

News flash, over the last two games your Offense has scored 14 points.. Wow, what a team!

DR shut you out! Get ready for a long season, you and Wilson will fight for last place!

No playoffs again this year. Get a new QB, he is way OVERRATED not DR.

"TartROIDS lose to lack of any type of O! Spartans get by with a FG. This blog will be free of ghs for the rest of season. Thank you lord."

Posted by: Skrid at October 11, 2007 08:20 PM

DO US ALL A FAVOR, SKRID, TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER!! YOUR PREDICTIONS AND COMMENTS SUCK!
SORRY TO INFORM YOU, YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THE TARTANS THROUGH DECEMBER!

I'm just glad to see the PRESS/BLOG didn't give every excuse in the world why Glendora whooped on Damien last night. Ususally, when the Tartan's dominate a game, like they did ALL last night, every excuse known to man is given why the Tartans had a easy victory. I was waiting to hear that Damiens QB had a hang nail or Rabe played with an earache. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Glendora dominated a well rested Damien team. No doubt, Glendora has one of the BEST teams (player to player) in the Valley. Their biggest obstacle is not physical it's psychological.
They need to bring that Tartan spirit to EVERY game. Unfortantly, they don't always get psyched up and mistakes happen.

Great game last night Tartans. You will go all the way this year.

Oh and by the way, very glad to see the "over rated, over hyped and sorry" Etiwanda team beat Los Osso last night. Etiwanda was one of those opponents Glendora dominated all night long.

Sorry Fred (burned twice), GOOD PICK STEVE!

Congradulations DR on your win. We are all proud of you. Bonita, you played a good game too, just not good enough. Bo Hi fan, I'm confused.....are we playing South Hills Thursday night?????

to LA fan

How dare you talk about these kids, I would love to see you on the field and take the hits that the Qb got and still got up to play a full GAME!!!

LA fan,

Why call yourself a fan...your're an idiot! Wake up Jack a.. these are kids. The only loser here is YOU!

D Ranch is way overrated. Bonita, played an awful game and was still in the game the whole time. They are not even in the same class as CO and probably not even good enough to play with Los Altos. There defense was not stifling. The Bonita QB had time and receivers open he just didn't hit any of them. When they brought in that other QB Bonita marched right down the field on them and that kid has only taken 5 snaps all year. D Ranch might have a chance on Thursday because South Hills has so many injuries. But CO will beat them 35 7

Rosemead is over-rated

Amat Alumnus and Amat 83,

I think you are one in the same.If you are a true Lancer that has suited up for the Blue and Gold, you would know that getting one yard is all about pride and ganas. Verti believed in his boys. And they came through. If You want to take that away from them, then come to films todayat nine and tell them. If you are not proud of beating the slime, then what kind of Lancer are you?

I want everyone to know that it was I who posed as SPHS, St. Paul Stud, Swordsmen4Life and any other moniker I made up on the other thread. I wanted to unite our fans and it worked. You see it is only by being together that we can conquer anything in our path. The kids know that and it contributed to their win. Why can't us adults know that?

LA fan,
What a sorry post, these are a high school kids your talking about, I don't know these kids and I'm not from Los Altos but your a poor excuse of a Los Altos fan, your team loses the big game & you start putting down the kids, and even naming names, what a shame, think before you write next time, the kids are doing their best out there, I'm hopeing your a highschool kid & not an adult parent.

GHS roots out victory

GHS played like we all knew you could. Funny how having time to plan can make all the difference come the following week.

Coach P & company were right on the money tonight. They studied our opponent and tooled their game far better then last weeks dismissal production.

GHS O-line finally came around as they knocked Damien off the ball all night. Kid Kuluzny displayed an accurate arm with well placed balls to his recievers. Vega managed a better performance with stronger sustained blocking from the front line.

GHS's defense was stellar tonight as they closed the door on several third down attempts by Damien. Return possession for GHS found them deep in Damien's field.

GHS\capped a 21 pt advantage entering the half.

Special teams never allowed Damien room to operate as they began each possession deep.

The above illustrates just how GHS should come to play each down. This was a great performance that needs to be repeated this next week against a tough challenge in CHHS.

GHS fans and players need to fly under the radar and be ever vigilant for there is plenty of work to complete before celebrating victories.

FYI: Great job Coaches, players & fans...

PLAID LAD

Check that out...Etiwanda beats Los Osos!? WOW, where's all the dudes that told the Tartan faithful that Eti's not a good team. Think again.

la conq, la fan, are you guys traiters or what! Do you have kids that don't play. Tell me just who do think should be the "Go to Guys"? As bad as Los Altos was playing they still had a chance near the end of the game. South Hills did not dominate this game as the score might indicate. LA pretty much handed the game to SH by not playing to their abilities and making mistakes. "Stuff Happens" This is what High School football is about. With all the injuries that this team has suffered this year they are still out there busting their rears. There are kids playing with injuries right now, It's been tough. We lost two big time players to season ending injuries, but that is no excuse. There are alot of other Programs with the same problem. We'll just have to wait until the next game to see what happens. la conq,la fan, everybody is entitled to an opinion. I for one am not going to criticize my team, win or lose!!!!!

good job shhhs all around great win. frickin home town refs tried there damnest to take it away from you, but, your team overcame the b.s.! let the kids play for goodness sake!! i hate to see a game so controlled by zebras! poor call followed by a bad call. r u f'in kidinig me. someone, please stop me!

BTB-teamroom

the bomb scare at los altos was real. I heard it went off at 7:30 and lasted about two and a half hours.

Tough loss for the boys from the 'Mead.

All I can say is WOW! The Tartans absolutely dominated Damien tonight in a way that I never expected. It was like El Do did to us last week. If an earlier statement was true that Damien kids were laughing as they watched our game last week, they must have been in shock all night long. The D was back to being dominate (except for one good drive by the Spartans in the first half) and the O was able to ram the ball all night and run a few cross cuts and QB keepers that worked well. Just enough passing and no INT's (I think Drew has just one on the year). No punt problems this week either (of course we only punted once I believe). Nice bounce back boys against a worthy opponant. Keep grinding because an even bigger challange lies next week at Chino Hills. Congrats Amat, you deserved that win and congrats to the other winners on a big Friday night. Big Reg, did I see you filming at the game tonight? Is there going to be something posted somewhere? Thanks.

LA has me completely confused. Gano said Tamayo was his QB. After tonights game, that should definitely change. His performance demonstrates that he is not the guy. He got boos from the home crowd. Just embarassing. If we stick with this QB, we will not make it through league.Did this kid's dad pay somebody, because I've seen better QBs in JAA pee wee division. The receivers were horrible. Seanez did his best, but he just doesn't have the size or height to be the go to guy. #10 was a new sight, but was not effective on O or D. #11 just cant make the catches when needed all season. He should be sat down. LA better find some new blood to inject into the offense or this season is over.

Amat barely beat a lousy St. Paul team in 3OT's and Verde (Green in spanish) got lucky because the rain saved your ass. This has got to be the worst coached team i've seen in over 10 years. Coach Verde you ought to consider keeping your day time job flipping burgers and quit pretending to be a head coach, as you will go down as the worst coach and coaching staff in our history. We will take the victory but not proud of it at all. Any past Amat team would have whooped this St. Paul team who played without their stud RB by 5 or 6 TD's. You need to stop the bleeding and resign, if Amat is to have any chance of competing in PAC5 and reviving its past glory. Any future stars will not play for you period.

South Doing It Big AGAIN..Beat Rosemead 20-14...The Garay And Acosta Connection Are Doing It Big...DE Juan Perez Game Winning TD and Probably The Best DE In The League..And Who Can Forget Cogburn What A Threat Give Him 5 Inches and He Can Turn That Into 50 Yards...Big Props To RB Tra Sumler Great Powerback Smashed The Middle All Night Too Bad He and The Panthers Couldn't Pull It Off...South El Monte Should Have Best Linebackers In The League With Davie Padilla and Mike Navarro...Well Peeps Looks Like The South Is For Real

Coach Verti- If you love AMAT as much as you say you do, do the boys a favor and turn in your resignation now. To not kick the field goal at the end of regulation was the worst call I have ever seen. Your wet turf bailed you out at the end. #5 is a horrible qurterback. There has got to be someone else in the program who can do a better job.

Mr. Manzo- Please fire this clown. He is an embarassment to the tradtion of AMAT football. His call almost cost us the game. You have a great wrestling, girls basketball, and baseball coach. Do the same for football. Get rid of this joke.

For some reason this sight stopped the automatic entry of my name after my post, anyways the last two anonymous post were from me.

the refs in the south hills game were garbage...one sided tried to stop the clock every chance they to help la...onside kick went 8 maybe 9 yards and was GIVEN to los altos...Broomstead had a nice catch to start off the game...GO HSUKIES!!!

South Hills & C. Oak are looking more & more like the teams to beat in the sgv, congrats to Amat for sending the slime back to Sante Fe Springs with another loss, D.Ranch gets another solid win,& it looks like Glendora has rebounded again.
Ayala got a few of their key players back from injury last week & they look like the Ayala that rolled over Duarte in week 1, with D.Bar almost beating a good Troy team, Ayala's 29 to 0 win over the Brahma's say's a lot about how improved they are.

WAY TO GO NORTHVIEW!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GREAT GAME AND AN EVEN BETTER VICTORY. IT IS JUST PURE 'SWEETNESS' WHEN YOUR TEAM COMES OUT ON THE VICTORY SIDE OF SUCH AN INTENSE, HEATED RIVALRY.
WAY TO GO NORTHVIEW

West Covina looked like a different team tonight, 27 to 0 over Rowland, Coaches got on the team about discipline & being focused & it looked like it paid off.
A lot of the young starters seem to be growing & improving, last weeks loss to Ayala doesn't make me feel so bad as Ayala blew out a pretty good D.Bar team 29 to 0 tonight, couple that with Ayala's near upset of D.Ranch & that tells me West Co lost to a pretty good Ayala team.
Next up is Charter Oak, at their house, man that
will be a tough one for our boy,'s but if they stay focused & come out like they did tonight you
never know what can happen.

CO BRO, in 85 they averaged 48 ppg the entire year. They also played a very weak wilson team, that was not the wilson of old it was sad. LA you will beat them by 60 if you want to.

There is only one receiver who keeps dropping the ball. Someone needs to put him back on the JV team. Even if he is a coaches son. There has to be someone better then that. Even a lineman would do better.

Los Altos choked. South Hills played a good game. Mcbride ran for 2 TD's and about 120 yards but South Hills made him work for it.

Junior threw an interception for a TD. And his recievers keep dropping the ball. I see Los Altos going 5-5 this season. Their next win will be their last game against Bonita.

Conqs have some big problems:

1) Seem lost on Offense w/o #84
2) QB can't read a defense to save his life.
3) WRs can't catch the damn ball when it is thrown well.
4) Offensive line can't pass block to save their lives!
5) Defense gives up WAAAAY too many big plays.
6) Linebackers are GOD AWFUL!
7) Other than their front four...NO ONE can tackle!
8) #1 Seanez, who needed to step up to fill Rodriguez's spot as an offensive threat, had the worst game I've ever seen out of him tonight, on both O and D...just atrocious!
9) It only gets worse from here...DRanch, CO!

Good news...we showed some real character tonight by not giving up. We were one STUPID penalty away from cutting the lead to 7 pts with 3 minutes left! Conqs have heart...just not very good talent right now.

3rd place finish and 1st round CIF exit here we come.

CCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOO!
Way to represent tonight boy's. I have NEVER seen a CO team put up that many points! Great game Kanan, O-Line, Defense. Wilson has the WORST visitors stands in the valley!
Tartans...congrats on a HUGE win!
South Hills...ditto!
Bishop...a MONSTER win, I didn't think you had it in you, but I was wrong. I am looking forward to this weeks Sat. morning smack talk. You deserve to dish it out!

LA is hurt bad. Tuff game Huskies are for real.

I'll eats some crow.

Damien gone, chino hills next!

Go tartans

Nogales blows another lead and loses 7-6

a later interception with 52 seconds left in the redzone kills nogales's chances and walnut wins their 1st game.

Glendora 35 should of been 49

Scoreboard Sucks if not current

Why isn't the Los Altos vs South Hills game up on the scoreboard?

I AM THE ORIGINAL BLEEDS BLUE AND GOLD...

Jimenez,

Maybe if we lined up a bunch of tomato cans for our schedule, we'd be 4 and 1 just like you but we DON'T! We go up against some of the best programs in around.

So who are you guys playing next week? The Sisters of Mercy? You are one funny guy Hose Jimenez.

Tonites Los Altos game will determine if LA is for real. Even with the loss of two 2-way starters.

how can you choose South Hills over Los Altos? if you have Los Altos #1?

Hey 1 time,
I did not make that comment tommy tartan II made it. We all make mistakes but I wouldn't make that kind of assinine statement.

Yes, South Hills-Los Altos game is at 7:30 tonight, it ot changed during the week. By the way, there was a bomb scare at Los Altos today, but everything has been checked out and deemed safe to play tonight's game.

According the a rep from Los Altos, kick-off time tonight at LA is 7:30 not 7:00...

no one will stop #2 and jon rabe, damien will dominate

Hey Amat 73 the GHS kids on Steroids you must not have seen the El D game. Oh yea you didn't, if you had you would not have made THAT comment.

Amat 73

Good point, with all of those remarkable recruiting skills, Gano could only coax over a couple of QB's with suspect skill and abilities? He should have gone after that kid from Saint Francis. I do not know if he played way over his head against LA, but he sure impressed me...

LOSER

rosie 74
Let your beloved Gano know all that and maybe he will put them on his recruiting list.

Well we will see later tonight who is the skin on bones, I know that pictures are at times decieving.

The little Qber is actually 6'3" and very muscular, that means no body fat to you out in Lancer land. I know you folks are used to a more chunkie Qber but St Paul is very happy with this kid, and was actually a major D end prospect but he is exceptionally fast and strong arm, great leadership skills.

After tonight you folks will get to see him for two more years and hes only getting better.

This is not the kid from south hills, but he's also at the school working hard and is right there behind Paul, there is also 6'4" Gabriel Encinas from Santa Fe who is getting better at Qber since at St Paul, and also has a great deal of speed and raw stregth.

If the Lancers do pull off the win enjoy it cause if anyone is going to beat St Paul for the next few years its this year, they are LOADED with sophs and even some crazy talented freshmen on varsity. Even the j.v. has a few good Qbers that are better than most varsioty in our area.

jjiminez,
You should go over to the Trbskin Pickum blog . Your fellow slimemen need some help . They are not only taking an a_ _ whipping there but will also get a big one tonight. GO AMAT .

I have heard that GHS team is taking steroids as well as the Wilson team too. It's a shame. Truly a shame. Even more of a shame cause they are doing the crazy kids over at Glendora no good!

I KNOW , I KNOW . It was a ROUGH week for me .
BACK TO FOOTBALL !!!

Are you hug over or still pissed off about USC last week.

Calm down and just continue to be a role model for your kid.

Sometimes you just have to LAUGH at these guys..

Nothing Serious...

TM

Chill Dude... Yur're out of character!

Enjoy the evening with your boy..

GOOD LOOKING OUT ...

Dont worry about Mikey, He has Father issues. I am looking forward to the concert tonight. I know you and rosemead are both going to score a lot tonight. mmmmmm

Not sure who that "Tommy Tartan" imposter is, but it sure wasn't me. When guys work hard and get strong it's funny how people start spouting the "S" word. Dude (or young lady?), if you're a Spartan fan that was hilarious! "They can be beaten by teams with heart and Damien's heart CAN be questioned". If you meant to say "can't" you just made was amazing typo. I don't agree BTW, Damien has heart, just not as much as I believe the kids and staff at Glendora have. But we'll see tonight. Should be a great battle.

Tried to click on the 2 minute drill link under our colorfull "furious friday" and it wasn't there? Our biggest game of the year and no word from the wizards? How did THAT happen?

His Name is Junior & is my SON . YOu F-ing IDIOT .

COME ON NOW , GROW UP , I guess some people have nothing better to do ...

I guess I should keep my personal stuff to myself , SOME PEOPLE just don't get it . And I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE LIFE LESSONS HERE .

TM

Tartans players take steroids and they are not intelligent. They can be beaten by teams with heart and Damiens Heart can be questioned.

TM,
what's his name?

yeah what is with these stupid coaches that can't speak a lick to adults but put your kid in a uniform in front of them and they are like a frieght train with a voice. coaches can be strange people, a little on the paranoid side if you ask me

I ACTUALLY have a date , I am going to a concert . I will call & check the score periodically . Thanks . THE PANTHERS ARE GOING TO WIN .

Crap

Double post, coffee is kicking in

Humor dude! Dont let these guys get under your skin.

Watched Leno last night, and it was a riot!

Puts you in a good mood for the day!

Laugh a lot and go see Rosemead play tonight!

Keep Cogburn and check and you'll win... He's a stud!

Glendora vs Damien

Will be a hard fought game. Both teams have experienced inconsistency in pre-league.

The winner of tonights battle will be the team with the fewest mistakes and probably the team who will win league.

Damien has had the much needed rest but Glendora needs this win after coming off a disasterous loss against powerhouse El Do and a great win against a very strong West Ranch.

Glendora will squeek by tonight with a win against Damien.

I do have a life ...ASK YOUR MOM.

WTF! I apologize TM. All this time I thought I was heckling an adult with an over blown sense of worth. I had no idea you were just some kid trying to act like an adult. From now on I will refrain from posting rebuttals to your asinine comments. I’m sorry SON.

MIKE KUNT ...YOU ARE SO WEAK . WHY do you come on & start bagging , I do have a life ...ASK YOUR MOM .

both programs are a joke... so sad for the kids too. They get fooled and fed a load of u know what saying how great the program is. you might as well send your kid to Bassett.

And Amat's football program isn't a joke?....please.

ST. PAUL'S FOOTBALL PROGRAM IS A JOKE!!!
Amat 35
St. Paul 12

Stuttering Paul Lopez we see you as meat on a bone. We will hit you so hard your stuttering will get worse, no wonder you play for St. Paul. Woof Woof, then us big dogs at Amat will bury the bone for a nice burial when we're done with you slime.

Lobos with a another playoff berth!

That would be huge for that school

TartROIDS lose to lack of any type of O! Spartans get by with a FG. This blog will be free of ghs for the rest of season. Thank you lord.

both of those 2 qbs featured (the bp one and the st paul one) look like chumps. if those dudes lived anywhere else outside of the SGV, they'd be waterboys.

damien will win a close one

Well Paul Lopez was suppose to talk about the upcoming game with Amat. He said nothing. I guess the fear has set in. This sophmore is going to get ripped and nervous when he see the big dogs coming at him.

Thats because you have no life!

I LOVE BEING FIRST ...

GO TARTANS !!!
GO PANTHERS !!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL
