Tribskin Pick'em, your predictions and ours. Finally, it's here, the O.C. vs. SGV
![]()
Steve Ramirez and Fred J. Robledo going head-to-head throughout the season.
Records:
Robledo: Last week (4-1); Season (167-55)
Ramirez: Last week (5-0); Season (169-53)
Notes: Looks like Ramirez is a step closer to earning that lunch bet. The difference, he picked California over South El Monte, and the Condors pulled it out. I don't think I can catch him, and to be honest, I don't want to. I'm going with El Dorado this week, but I would love to see Charter Oak and South Hills in next week's final.
CIF-SS Southwest Division semifinals
Friday
Trabuco Hills (11-1) at Charter Oak (10-1-1), 7 p.m. - Robledo (Charter Oak), Ramirez (Charter Oak)
Saturday
South Hills (10-2) vs. El Dorado (11-1) at Placentia HS, 7 p.m. - Robledo (El Dorado); Ramirez (South Hills)
Friday game Stories from the OC Register on this week's SGV opponents.
El Dorado 27, El Toro 9
By BRIAN SMITH

Behind a four-touchdown performance from senior running back Devin Deleon, El Dorado took another step toward defending its CIF-SS Southwest Division championship with a 27-9 victory over El Toro in a second-round game Friday night at Trabuco Hills High
The victory, the Golden Hawks' 10th in a row after a season-opening loss to Esperanza, was much like what El Dorado has done all year: get out to a quick lead and let the defense do the rest. El Dorado put up 264 yards in the first two quarters and held the host Chargers (6-6) to just 99.
After forcing a three-and-out on the El Toro initial drive, the Golden Hawks went 44 yards in four plays, Deleon going the final 30 on a delayed draw into the end zone with less than four minutes gone.
El Toro got on the board with a 43-yard Vince D'Amato field goal on the ensuing drive before El Dorado marched 65 yards in six plays, Deleon going the final 48 as part of a 99-yard, four-carry first quarter.
A 48-yard pass from Kane Wilson to Nolan Sheldon closed a first quarter where El Dorado put up 177 of its 356 total yards. It was more Deleon in the second quarter, scoring on a 4-yard run and a 1-yard run set up by a Ryan Cardenas interception.
El Dorado's defense picked off passes from three Chargers quarterbacks. Anthony Laurenzi and Kevin O'Connell also had interceptions for the Golden Hawks defense.
After a scoreless third quarter, El Toro used a Jeff Dunlap interception to set up a 30-yard drive, capped by a 1-yard dive from Jai Morris early in the fourth quarter.
An onside kick on the ensuing kickoff was recovered by Cardenas and El Dorado was able to prevent any El Toro comeback.
Trabuco Hills 55, Wilson 6
By TOM CONNOLLY
Special to OCVarsity.com
Matt Wagner rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns to lead Trabuco Hills to a 55-6 victory over Wilson of Hacienda Heights on Friday in a CIF Southwest Division playoff game at Wilson High.
The Mustangs (11-1) have won 10 consecutive games and advances to the semifinals next week to play Charter Oak.
“We’ve been consistent on offense and stout on defense this season,” said Mustangs coach Jason Negro, whose team has outscored its past four opponents, 182-23.
Leading 7-0 in the first quarter, Wagner capped a 91-yard scoring drive with a 2-yard touchdown run. He added a 7-yard TD run in the second quarter, and Cory Brandt threw a 54-yard scoring pass to Adam Mooney to give the Mustangs a 28-0 lead at halftime. Mooney had four catches and two TDs.
Wagner added a scoring run in the second half and Kevin Halloran retuned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown.
Trabuco Hills linebacker Evan Pesonen had two sacks as the Mustangs forced five turnovers and held the Wildcats to 61 yards of offense in the first half.
Tim Gilmore led Wilson (6-6) with 124 yards rushing. Joshua Aussem scored the Mustangs first TD on a 14 yard run, following an interception by JB Torsy.

Huskies in the house....
Correct me if I'm wrong but is SH 10-2? And who were those 2 losses to? Oh yeah, Trabuco Hills and La Habra, both OC teams. El Do is a much better team than both those teams. SH is in for an old fashioned butt kicking.
Final El Do and Charter Oak with El Do repeating as champions.

I see that they put up another highlight video on the El Dorado football website of the El Toro game from round two last week. All I've got to say is that the Huskies better win, or we will end up on the next El Dorado highlight video as their latest victim. Just look at those videos and you will see that ElDo is the real deal. That team and it's coaches have it together. Don't underestimate them. I can see why the the ElDo parents think that their team is special. It really shows in their highlight videos. Go Huskies!

Anonymous,
I do not think my Junior College statement was ignorant. I made an informed decision based on my observations. Unfortunately, I made the drive to go watch a few young men from Mt. Sac play at Mt. San Jacinto, which not until I arrived there did I realize we were so near Hemet (No thank you!) but I watched Mt. Sac beat Mt. San Jacinto 70-9 and said out loud in that stadium that day that some top tier programs like South Hills and others on their best day could beat this Junior College football team. I believe in what I said and I am not going to retract my statement. And Anonymous, does Bogan condone the comments our players posted on this blog down below ours too? Please, freedom of speech let myself and the young men have some fun like HUSKYPLAYER said don't confuse class with emotion and we want our young men playing with as much emotion as possible. (Football Jones does that satisfy you and answer your question too?)
I do want to also offer my apologies to anyone from South Hills I have offended because my intentions is not to embarrass anyone but simply express my thoughts and feelings which Bogan would appreciate and respect very much.
As for religion crossing the line into our program yes we do hover in a gray area but that doesn't mean Bogan isn't a competitive man and the game burns in his belly something fierce because I know for a fact he will have us ready and does not want any of our young men to show any weakness or intimidation but instead breeds an air of almost cockiness that I think personally you have to have somewhat of a swagger to play this game.
So calm down, relax, and have some fun like Benny Tone Deaf and I are having until Saturday night. Wow, you're right that is still a long time to wait for the game. Hyping the game and "talking trash" before the game just intensifies the game Saturday night. This is all fun and games until somebody gets their eye poked out and we'll leave the dirty play for the field.
I bid you farewell my pretties until later today or this evening but in the meanwhile I think I am going to eat a Hawk satay today because I am hungry and that sounds really good.
See you at practice Huskies. I'll be watching you so practice hard and prepare well because Saturday night we show no mercy! For God's sake, this is football men!

Huskies in the house!
I got a kick out of your Kenny Rogers bit.
You keep calling me out and I'm just not playin' I'm honored though.
I don't need to defend the team and I don't need to hype em' They are what they are and that's a damn good team.
As for the Defense being simple. When every player knows their role and they make tackles and everyone runs to the ball, it doesn't need to be anything more than what it is.
Jeez, its only Tuesday what are we going to talk about for the rest of the week?
Posted by: Benny Tone Deaf | November 27, 2007 9:45 PM
How much more ignorant husky in the house! can you be. I know Coach Bogan would not appreacite you talking like this on the board. I really doubt your a product of this program. Coach Bogan is a extremely religious person who teaches the kids about life much more than you show here on the board.
Dont embarass the program and yourself anymore please. You lost all credibility with the JC post.

Huskies in the house!,
SH has an excellent team this year. Although I haven't seen them play, I've followed them all year.
But let's be reasonable.
What JCs -that you've seen- would lose to SH?

Football Jones,
And your point is? Not funny. I will tell you and this is not meant to be funny either but I have watched several Junior College football teams play this year and our young men I guarantee you could compete and probably beat some Junior College football teams. Our offensive and defensive schemes are sophisticated complimented by we always put our athletes in a position to be successful so your talent, speed running to the ball, and tackling well will be exploited just because if nothing else being in one defense the entire night will cause us to have to break you down and expose defensive and personnel weaknesses.
Benny Tone Deaf,
Can you hear me? Better yet I know you can't hear me but you sure can read what I typed and at the very least you have to agree with me that my Kenny Rogers references are funny? I watched those highlight videos again on the website and you look like an above average O.C. football team but would get beat by plenty of high school football teams besides us. Please in your "humble" opinion and yes we know you're no expert and don't have anyone playing on the team but how can you tell me El Dorado is "special"? Maybe special education but that's about as much as I can see from my evaluation maybe that's why you only play one defense. This team is ordinary and we have extraordinary talent in a few key positions that seriously you just don't match up against again not be cocky but honest. Agree or disagree?
Posted by: Huskies in the house! | November 27, 2007 9:16 PM
Huskies in the house,
I agree with you 100%...SH is the best football team in the UNIVERSE !!!
I hear after they beat El Do 200-0, they'll take on the PATRIOTS the following week.
Yup, it's true.
I wonder what the Over/Under will be?

Charter Oak should beat Trabuco Hills ! They are an average team who is lucky to be in the position their in. I will be at the game supporting the Chargers!
Posted by: VANNER | November 27, 2007 8:31 PM
Well if they do play only one defense they must be doing something right they have allowed 96 total points in 12 games and as others have mentioned only 4 touchdowns on the starters have been scored.
The talent and speed of the El Dorado defense is what makes it so special. Nothing fancy they run to the ball and tackle well.

I'm back boys! Interesting how in a 24 hour period we went from almost no O.C. posts to El Dorado is commenting everywhere on our S.G.V. blog. Welcome aboard kids. Are you ready to walk the plank? Word travels fast Hawks, are you scared? I did go back and do some research after you mentioned El Dorado’s football website and I have a few points of contention. 1. Your head coach who is also your offensive coordinator and quarterback coach literally looks like he never took a snap in his life. I thought you had to be less than 300 pounds to call offensive plays and teach a position of mobility. 2. The picture of your defensive coordinator resembles more like the last name Queen rather than King. Several of the Husky football players told me that he plays only one defense the entire game so guaranteed he can’t coach himself out of a wet paper bag compared to Coach Bogan. He plays in the minor leagues judging against a major league offensive guru like Bogan. Defensive coordinator Queen meet offensive coordinator and head coach Bogan now sit down and shut up school is now in session kid. El Dorado fans please continue to rationalize and reason with us how and why you should beat us because I can here you already making excuses for when we beat you by three touchdowns. I went by practice today and we’re not cocky just confident and you could very well hear the chant already echoing throughout the stadium right now. Overrated! Overrated! Overrated...

#1FAN and Beep Beep Dan - I'll still be going to the games. I'm hooked.
#1FAN - The game is at Bradford Stadium in Placentia. It is on the campus of Valencia H.S. in Placentia. Take the 57 South to Yorba Linda Blvd. Go East on Y.L. Blvd until you get to Bradford. Turn right on Bradford go until you get to a four way stop and you will see the stadium lights. Just find a place to park in a the Church Parking lot across the street.

CO is finally getting the MAYORS TROPHY tonight. The only difference between CO and GHS getting the trophy is that CO is NOT giving Letterman patches to their kids for it. GHS gave their kids patches last year, PLEASE. I would love for the person who scream at me 2 1/2 weeks stating that GHS already gave up the trophy to speak up now.

TH reminds me of Glendora, they are willing to throw the ball more but are more than happy to run it down your throat. They have a very good defense and have over all very good team speed, VERY disciplined. I could say CO is going to win but I'm not the one strapping on the helmet. I see a good game on the horizon.
Posted by: JFR | November 27, 2007 5:43 PM
Just wondering why there are hardly any posts about the CO TH game?
Posted by: Anonymous | November 27, 2007 5:13 PM
I thought West Co did a great job this year. When I looked at that roster and saw so many Jr. and Soph. starters I was impressed. Hopefully they can put a little more passing into their offense next year, just to keep teams honest.
Alright, I need dining tips for the Trabuco vs. Charter Hills game. I'm probably going to Petrillo's before the game but thought there might be some other suggestions closer to the school.
Looking forward to T.H vs. CO on Friday then Hawks vs. Huskies on Saturday.
I really don't want the season to end. Once my son and his buddies graduate this year I'm not quite sure what I'll do.

Anon.at nov 27 at 4:12 you said,
"The best team South Hills beat all year were Fullerton and Foothill"
I would throw West Co into the mix, they played South Hills the toughest, they were a different team at the end of season.

Huskies in the house,
You make those post from Bulldogs gonna bite look humble, you could be setting yourself up for a fall. Don't be offended over the compliment that I gave Benny Tone Deaf, he's shown nothing but class ever since he's been on this board unlike some of the other out of area posters. Being an SGV fan I hope that South Hills and Charter Oak win, but I know that both those schools will be in for a tough night, judging by what they did to Glendora [35 to 0 until they put in their subs] I would have to say that Eldorado is the favorite going in to this game but it won't suprise me to see South Hills pull an upset and I hope they do, as for our Bulldogs, yes we are sitting home, but considering the young team we have, we took out a pretty good Canyon team and we gave both South Hills and Charter Oak a run for their money, I'd say we finished the season well. Lets see how it goes next year.
Posted by: Dan | November 27, 2007 4:45 PM
I doubt these guys are even from SOuth Hills. Husky player is making a post at 3:24pm???
Bravado gets you nowhere. Everyone at El Dorado is taking this game very seriously. South Hills is a worthy opponent and maybe the hardest hitting team we are gonna face but....
Of the four teams left we have the hardest schedule per maxpreps and best opponent record.
ED 70-59-2 16.6 strength of schedule
CO 61-71-1 14.7 strength of schedule
TH 60-70 11.7 strength of schedule
SH 64-66 11.1 strength of schedule
The best team South Hills beat all year were Fullerton and Foothill. Both decent wins but ED has played tougher games.
According to calpreps the teams ratings are
ED 40.8
CO 35.5
TH 35
SH 33.8
Calpreps also has El Dorado winning 28-14.
48 minutes still need to be played, but going into the game El Dorado is the better team. If they play El Dorado ball they WILL win against a very tough opponent in South Hills.
These semi-finals and then the finals could go either way.
Blocking, tackling, execution. Sounds like a pretty simple recipe to me.

Emotion! Intensity! Excitement! Poise! Composure!
These are all words that you will hear people yelling at their teams during games. These are all qualities that players need to possess, during competition, especially at tense moments. However, players must also have the correct level of each quality to be as effective as they can be. There is a delicate balance between having maximum intensity and maintaining your poise or being excited and keeping your composure. Intensity is exceptionally great power or force but poise is a state of balance or self-control. Athletes need to play with the power and force that intensity suggests, but stay within the rules and fundamentals of the game. Many players play so hard that they are out of control and they foul, travel or throw bad passes. Players should, certainly be joyful, excited and passionate about the game, however they cannot be so excited that they forget the game plan, or the appropriate execution of offensive or defensive strategies. Composure is calmness that suggests the exercise of self-control and imperviousness to agitation or turmoil. This delicate balance of these four qualities will ensure that players do not play too emotional, impulsive and frantic but rather under control, focused, and with the maximum effort necessary. Teams that find the balance are the truly great ones that advance.
You said it yourself...too much emotion causes people to do *stupid* things. It is the *Stupid things* that people equate with a lack of class...no confusion at all. Keep your emotions in check and you won't do (or ay) stupid things that make people think you have no class.

I can do that because I haven't made any outlandish posts that I will have to defend. The players play the game and both teams are geared up and ready to go. It is going to be a close game. South Hills is a very good team and so is El Do.

Correct about the El Dorado defense. They have given up 96 total points. 8.0 avg here are some other facts.
In 12 games..........
they have only given up 1 touchdown in the first half and that was on a Monday game because of the fires. The smoke and ash was really bad near their school and they did not prx outdoors in almost 12 days. they sub the entire 2nd half and el mo scored on them two more times for 20 points total.
The startes have gien up on 4 touchdowns all year.
One in the 2nd qtr
One in the 3rd qtr
Two in the 4th qtr.
All of the other scores have been on the reserves and one was a pic for a touchdown.
I guarantee the South Hills coaches have the Glendora tape. It was 28-0 at half and El Dorado received the kick-off marched down field and scored to make it 35-0. The starting def staying in for 1 series of the 2nd half and got a turn-over near the Glendora goal-line. With 8 minutes left in the 3rd I thought El Do was going to go up 42-0 but they put in 11 new offensive players and did not score. The subbed everybody on defense as well and with 4 minutes left in the game the Glendora starters scored a touchdown on El Dorado's JV defense. They missed the PAT. El Do then put in a freshman qb who fumbled the ball back to Glendora and with under 1 minute in the game the Glendora starting qb Kulunzky threw a screen td pass to Young. And then in what I thought was classless went for two. If El Dorado kept the starters in they would have won 59-0 easily. If you check the stats El Dorado used 8 different running backs in the game and ran the ball every play in the 2nd half.
Now I dont think El Dorado is still playing that well but they have been playing mostly OC competition so well see how they fair against another SGV team.
Summary: Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Final
El Dorado 14 14 7 0 35
Glendora 0 0 0 14 14
Scoring:
Q1: El Dorado : Trace T.Wilson 9 yards TD - pass from Kane Wilson (Chase Lansford kick)
El Dorado : Trace T.Wilson 9 yards TD - run (Chase Lansford kick)
Q2: El Dorado : Kane Wilson 9 yards TD - run (Chase Lansford kick)
El Dorado : Devin Deleon 7 yards TD - run (Chase Lansford kick)
Q3: El Dorado : Danny Jeffus 27 yards TD - pass from Kane Wilson (Chase Lansford kick)
Q4: Glendora : Michael Edwards 17 yards TD - run (Vince Lehigh kick failed)
Glendora : Reggie Young 30 yards TD - pass from Drew Kaluzny (B.J. Gonzalez 2 yards pass from Drew Kaluzny)

I hear Plaid Lad and the boosters from Glendora are shipping the "FINISH IT" Banner over to So. Hills. Bad luck that the Banner stands for SH will fall flat on their face to ElDO and the hype of a undefeated / bowl apperance that Aram predicted will be all washed away. Dorian Wells senior year spoiled..talk about Karma getting the best of you. Eldo 36 SH 14

Wow, 96 points in 12 games?! That's 8 points allowed a game avg. I guess the Tartans "bad loss" to them scoring 14 points may not have been so bad after all. We'll have to see what S. Hills puts up on them. That should be an interesting matchup O vs. D. Good luck SH and CO this week. Live up to your ability/ranking and represent the Valley well.

One thing about EL D. There defense has only allowed 96 points all year long!
Pretty impressive stat.

South Hills is sounding a bit overconfident to me. This is a good team that has big time playmakers, however this game is going to be up to Cameron Deen. He needs to play his best game right now. No doubt Bogan will have his team ready to play. They have had El Do in their sights since the 7th week of the season. Look for SH to run gimmick plays to try and keep El Do's defense honest. Smash mouth football is not something Bogan wants to get into on Saturday.
El Do will bring a powerful defense who has shut down opponents game in game out. Can they stop Wells? I think they can slow him down....we will see. The Hawks bring a very balanced attack, the best in the county. Not sure SH defense can stop the ED offense.
It will come down to turnovers and special teams.... this will be a great game no doubt, but in the end the Hawks defense will frustrate the Huskies.

Southwest Fan, Southwest Fan, Benny Tone Deaf,
Sorry I feel asleep some of us do have to work for a living! Why when someone immediately starts bantering with an opponent everyone want to know who that person is right away?
You three said so yourself that we are the best team you are going to play this year, you drop too many passes, and will get beat in the 4th quarter because you haven't had to play a complete game. Then you admit and I capitalize the words like you did but your fans would be SHOCKED if you lose and if El Do plays THEIR game you will be the best team we faced all year. Notice the word "if" in that sentence.
Two final thoughts. 1. El Dorado fans read this website everyday and obviously I struck a nerve enough for several of you to post because B.T.D. is the only one who has frequently been on this site and 2. with some of the new posts by some "rookies" you expose your fear of us and fear equals defeat! You haven't been in a game like this in over a year in a half because this is a game that either team could win and Esperanza you were suppose to lose and every other game you were suppose to win. You can't handle the truth! You not built for a game like this and we are prepared for a game of this stature!
Benny Tone Deaf a.k.a. Kenny Rogers here's a few of your lyrics from your famous song "The Gambler"
“You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run”
I can already hear you now singing in the stands and well I do fit in with this program just fine like our young men keep telling me we're going to be just fine..!
Game on! Anyone want to keep playing like Benny Tone Deaf thanked me for playing?

Went to the EDHSFootball.com and OCVarsity.com websites and saw all of those great El Dorado game highlight videos. I have to say, that El Do has the best high school football highlight video program that I have ever seen. Those videos are all edited so well with multi-camera angles. I bet those players and parents are very happy to have those kind of memories. Watching them is like being on the sidelines in the middle of the action. Who is that guy who does that for them?
Posted by: anonymous | November 27, 2007 2:35 AM
Joe Amat and Dan - Thanks! I enjoy stopping by the blog during the football season and I love the SGV just love my Hawks more.
Hawk Baseball is still a top program. I went to school with Dan Petry (former Tiger and Angel. He graduated in 76' so the Hawks have had a long successful history with baseball.
Pre-game eats at Tony's Little Italy on Placentia Ave. great Chicago Style pizza and if you like Mexican food, for the best chips and Salsa try Don Jose's on Placentia Ave. just south of Y.L. Blvd.
Get to the game early because the parking can be a real pain.
Huskies in the house! Thanks for playing!!

What is the point of rebutting your comments are you going to change your tune? I'm not taking the bait. I don't trash talk about games I have no impact on plain and simple. Besides I respect the South Hills program too much to trash talk. Your comments show no respect for the El Do program.
I'll be on the Hawks side at the top level around the 35 to 40 yard line south side of the press box. I look a little like Kenny Rodgers with the gray hair and gray beard and will be wearing a ED Football hat. Make sure and say hi!

Husky In The House are you a player in the program?
You do a great program such a dis-service. On the first page of the kids scouting report this week was how South Hills has won CIF in 4 of the last 7 years. Multiple league champs, well coached, play hard, athletes everywhere and a strong standup successfull program. You dont sound like you fit in overthere.
We at El Dorado are a proud but humble group that is looking forward to the game this Saturday at OUR HOUSE. What your program or our program has done in the past doesnt matter. This is 2007 El Dorado vs 2007 South Hills. Both teams have strength's and weakness's the chess match but the coach's is trting to figure out what they are. This is a 11-1 team with 11 straight wins going against a 10-2 team with 10 straight wins. Needless to say neither team has lost in the past 2 1/2 months and neither team expects to loose. Sure we have some parents/ fans that would be in TOTAL SHOCK if we lost Saturday night but most of us understand we are playing the best team we faced all year and anything can happen, especially in high school football playoffs. Our coaches tell our kids all the time, the best team does not always win. Our kids are focused and I am sure your kids are to. Here is to a good game on Saturday and win or loose the El Dorado crowd will be respectful. We would expect the same from the South Hills program. Nobody likes to loose this late in the play-offs.
Best of luck Huskies your in the semi's because your a good team. But El Dorado playing THEIR game will be the best team you faced all year.

I hate to tell you but your QB doesn't run a 4.1. I guess he is faster than Reggie Bush..
Get real!

Huskies in the house
Your problem is you dont know our top tier players. Our QB is 6'6 225 and runs a 4.1. Our offensive line average 325 pounds. Our shortest receiver is 6'4.
Im not a EL DO fan and all jokes aside both teams are very talented and either team can win. El Dorado has played good defense this year. The starters have only given up 4 touchdowns all year. Only one team has scored a touchdown in FIRST HALF and that was after not practicing all week because of the fires and ash in the air.
But South Hills has the best offense El Dorado has seen all year. Wells is the best back they have faced. Bromstead is the best TE they have seen all year and Heard, Parhamn and crew are very very talented and complete the best overall offense el do has seen this year.
With El Dorado you have a very good QB and receivers that play above themselves but do drop many many passes. The offensive line is not incredibly big but aggressive.
This game will not be over in the 3rd qtr Husky in the house. This will be a 48 minute battle and should be low scoring. Turnovers and special teams will be the key to this. Either team can win but I am going with South Hills. El Dorado has not had to play a full game in over 2 months and I think the 4 qtr attitude of playing your starters of South Hills will prevail.

Thank you so very little for your insight Joe Amat and Dan. Where are your teams right now anyways? Home for the holidays! Class act or not that will not make any difference in the game's outcome Saturday night. One extra day to prepare will equal doomsday for El Dorado! You boys need to learn how to have some fun and who cares about baseball that too won't have any impact on the eventual winner Saturday night so focus on the point I am making and that is however you forecast this game South Hills is the better team yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Benny Tone Deaf may be a class act but after Saturday night he is going to be a loser!
Posted by: Huskies in the house! | November 26, 2007 7:58 PM
Benny Tone Deaf,
I agree with Joe Amat, you are a class act.

Classy response! A lesser man might have been sucked into a negative exchange.
I always appreciate your visits as they are insightful as well as respectful.
I'm expecting a great game between two schools that also have a rich *baseball* history. Care to share with the Huskie folks the tremendous success on the diamond former Golden Hawks have had.
The real question is, what's the local scoop on pre-game dining?

I am so proud of all the wrestlers out there. My opinion, they have so much strength and commitment for such an intense sport, that is just so awesome to me. Us moms and dads know what are child endures each and everyday from practices to competition. We have so much to proud of. Wrestling is such a strong program and our kids and yes, us to, are part of it. Hopefully we will get more coverage on wrestling this year and the years to come. Not exactly the response I was looking for but that will do considering you for whatever reason don't feel the need or want to rebuttal my comments. I think what you're afraid to admit but realize is you haven't been playing extremely well and we have not to mention my post is correct in that we have better coaching and better athletes overall which equals our recipe for success. And if I am a male dog does that make you my female dog? Count on seeing me at the game front and center before, during, and after the game!

Benny Tone Deaf,
We are a traditional powerhouse football program for decades and El Dorado until last year was a mediocre program. Our head coach has more big game experience and wisdom than your entire staff and as simple as your scheme is I expect if everything else is even our coach beats your coach in a chess match. I am not saying you have better athletes than us though because we will have the best athlete on the field Saturday night and have a better compliment of athletes around him. You already know his name without me even mentioning him to you and I don't know any of your top tier players this year. I agree this has the potential to be a good game but like last year's final where Los Altos should of beat you and had several chances to win the game and in my opinion gave you the victory we will beat you and the game will be over in the 3rd quarter. Good luck and our bite is bigger than our bite! My heart and head says we just simply are a better team than you in every facet of the game. Game, set, match!

“Don, don't forget the D backs at CO hard to get much by them.”
jbo,
I sell no part of the CO team short, especially on the D side. Most of the the Miramonte teams can move the ball up and down the field, but the CO Defense has been what sets them apart all year.
The reason I single out Perri and Williams and to a lesser degree, Carreon is they seem to occupy so much of the other team's assets, especially the O line, and that they free teammates up all night.
There aren't any bad LB's playing for CO and the Crespo kid is just scary, still; but it's the pinch from the D Ends that makes the CO D go.
Makes it stop actually, but you knew that.

"I realized that Foothill was a pretty good Football team that was a bit overwhelmed by our team. Only a couple of those turnovers were self inflicted I believe our Defense caused the rest."
FYI Canyon and Foothill are pretty much the same team, I know I've seen them both in person twice this year. You beat them like we beat Canyon. We were clicking then and you are clicking now. Nice time to click BTW.
I've seen every team that's left play this year except for Trabuco and they are all great teams. I'm looking forward to the game. El Do sure isn't taking South Hills lightly. SH is a league champ.

Benny,
I sat in those grand stands against Foothill and No I wasn't hearing statements like that,I realized that Foothill was a pretty good Football team that was a bit overwhelmed by our team. Only a couple of those turnovers were self inflicted I believe our Defense caused the rest.
"Look at the Canyon game video for an example of how we play when everything is clicking. Canyon's only score was on an 80 yard interception return in the 3rd quarter."
Posted by: Benny Tone Deaf at November 26, 2007 11:27 AM
When I watched the video on El Dorado it was obvious to me that this game your holding up to show how your team was "clicking" was against a vastly inferior opponent. I would like to see the video tape against Esperanza though, but it wasn't available on the El Dorado Football site. BTW, Who can't get up for a CIF Semi Final game ? What ?, come on. Saturday's game should be the game of the week.

Of course El Do can be beat. Its parents talking in the stands during a game what do you think they are going to say? "Wow, we suck! We should just roll over and die" I would imagine if I sat in the stands for the South Hills vs. Foothill game I would hear much the same thing. This late in the season there is no bulletin board material. If you can't get up for a semi-final CIF game you shouldn't be playing.
Its the playoffs anyone can win. I have all the respect in the world for South Hills. I just hope we both play our A-Game because that will be fun to watch. None of this sloppy football like Foothill played last week.
BTW, when you watched the Canyon vs. El Do video you were supposed to pay attention to how El Do played.

What's interesting about the Southwest playoffs is in the SGV there are 2 teams left so everyone in the valley (well mostly everybody) wants them to win. In the OC most fans outside of Placentia and the Trabuco Hills part of Mission Viejo, only care about the Pac5 Div. so El Do and Trabuco have the whole SGV against them. Trabuco Hills has a real underdog vibe going on and El Do is the favorite everyone wants to knock off.
Any of you South Hills fans who want to get to town early and have a slice make sure and stop by Tony's Little Italy in Placentia. Just Google them for information. Authentic deep dish Chicago style pizza. The best pizza in the OC

Fred,
You should have taken the advice of Benny Tone Deaf before you made your pick. I did, I watched El Dorado Whup up on a sorry and I mean sorry Canyon team, go see the video. Some bloggers and according to one poster on a previous thread alot of the Golden Hawk parents believe their team cant lose. They have no clue how capable this Huskies Team is in the hands of Steve Bogan.
South Hills has been down this road before. Huge underdogs, told we would be shut down by superior Defenses, with offences that couldn't be stopped. I believe the Golden Hawks have not faced a team this year (including Esperanza) that is as complete as South Hills.
Posted by: VANNER | November 26, 2007 2:05 PM
If South Hills and Charter Oak win, South Hills has the home game and rumor has it they would host it at the District Field with added bleachers.
Posted by: FredJ | November 26, 2007 1:40 PM
Yeah Beep Beep Dan! Good logic. I am right with you. Like those juggernauts at Claremont, Nogales, Rowland, Rancho Cuc., Walnut (LOL). Big time schedule there as well. Does anyone realize South Hills is 1-2 against teams above 500 this year? That's right folks only three squads with a winning record. I guarantee El Dorado will not turn the ball over 8 times this week. What was Mayfair 4-6?
Posted by: Anonymous | November 26, 2007 1:34 PM
Los Altos gave Eldo all it could handle last year and it appears to me that South Hills is a much better team than was last years Conq squad. Last years Golden Hawk team was supposed to have been some sort of anomaly, but that theory does not seem to have panned out. They flat-out handled Glendora and look even stronger than last years championship team based on their stifling defense.
The Huskies are gonna have their hands full, and if I were predicting with my heart, I would be be predicting SH. However, looks like El Dorado has the goods this year to repeat. I hope I'm wrong...

The Shadow
Do you honestly think the over/under for the El Do vs. SH game will be 96
El Do has only given up 96 points all season (12 games) Even Espreranza only got 16. The El Do "D" has stopped the following running backs (kept them way under 100 yards each)
Wes Fletcher (Valencia) - 1464 yards
Michael Alain sp! (Fullerton) - 1880 yards
Jake Vega & Andre Holmes (Glendora) 1615 yrds combined
I could go on with Jai Morris, Josh Hawkins, Ray Holley (2,000 yards)Anthony Wilkerson. They can stop Wells also.
Look, this is going to be a tough game but at least be reasonable with your posts. I see this being a close game and low scoring

I see El Do in the championship against Charter Oak if we play a complete game against South Hills. We've been pretty sloppy since the fires rescheduled things. Look at the Canyon game video for an example of how we play when everything is clicking. Canyon's only score was on an 80 yard interception return in the 3rd quarter.
