Congrats to Tyler and the Pill family,in sharp contrast to the self-promoting blowhards usually associated with premier athletes these days, the Pills are low key and quiet about their son's success.Very classy. The brief time we spent with the colts were also a joy. Coach Merrill and Root are very underated as Coaches and the Colts will be very strong this year, along with CO,Northview and San Dimas which return many starters.

Cory Lidle Memorial Tournament was this weekend. Congrats to all involved for taking the time to raise funds in the name of Cory Lidle. Cory was a special friend to the San Gabriel Valley and many high school coaches and teams. Thanks again to those who participated.

Guess you gotta know Mr. Escarcega to appreciate him. Always thought it was odd relationship...one guy is quiet, other is loud, obnoxious, and attention getting individual...but hey, congrats to TP.

Thanks to all of you awesome people for your nice comments. We have definitely had a lot of fun times through the years with baseball. Loved the post about our extended family - the Escarcega's - you must really know us. Tyler does not read this blog - obviously I do! LOL I think "stay clean" was right on when he said that someone would come on here and say something stupid. They always do! Only one commment on that - Tyler hasn't played at Hollenbeck since he was about 15? He has moved on and maybe you should too. The negative things said do not matter to me - it all comes out in the end anyway. I do really appreciate all of the positive comments, though!

Congrat's Tyler....

Remember when you were a Mustang Player at Walmerado!!

Very Happy for you and your family. (and your Extended family (the Escarcega's) too. Very, Very, good, dedicated and loyal people!!

Nice to see it work out for you!!

Pay NO attention to what other "jealous" types have to say!! Again, it's just Jealousy!!!

Anonymous,
You couldn't help your kid get into college because you don't know how to spell (hommers). Figures and uneducated idiot would come on here ripping a local kid (TP) for doing something to be proud of. Brother and Dad did one thing, they showed it's in the bloodlines...that's it. Do you think CSF is going to give someone scholarship money for the heck of it...Do you know how scarce that money is for baseball at the college level? Also, don't brag about hitting homers or hommers as you said at Hollenbeck (it's an airport) You still probabally can hit a few and that's not saying much. Also, one last thing, you said we know who you are...just print your name here...wouldn't give you more credibility, but at least we can give you credit for being honest.

TP- Congratulations on CSF.

Come on now tyler pill.. He is so overrated . Hey let me remember didnt my boy rope this tyler kid for a few hommers at hollenbeck park.we all know he only got in @ csf because of his bro & daddy pill. My boy is no angel but he dont have to have daddy help him get in college he has earned it all by himself . U know me dont act like u dont..

Lots of bloggers will be gone after football...some will stay and still argue football all the way up to next spring. Of course most of them will be those lonely die hard Amat fans. I am not a Amat fan but you got to hand it to them they love and are faithful to their program as far as the team...I did not say the coach.....oops!..now look what I started...Easy Amat fan! Whoa boy!

I know the Pill family and I must say they are a great family. Mike was one of the greatest pitchers in the area back in the day and has been a great coach at Covina High and at Hollenbeck. Brett and Tyler have had great careers and I looke forward to seeing Tyler follow in his brothers footsteps at Fullerton. Congrats to the Pill's.

Sometimes I wish the Trib would just have a cool article like today's on Tyler and the girl going to Temple without a blog. Signing a letter to play ball is such a cool thing and in no time with a blog, will someone say something stupid on here about the individual on it. I hope not, but the past says it will happen.

Someone did write about the City Of Covina being loaded...you're exactly right with Northview, Charter Oak, and Covina having some top talent.

Who are the teams to beat in baseball this year? It's right around the corner. Speak up.

Hey did you guys hear about that Sophomore in West Covina Bulldogs name Jacob Shirley? I heard that last year when he was a freshman, he was ranked 2nd in the San Gabriel Valley..wow thats amazing and also south hills has some great players also..

While I am a Viking through and through, congrats to Tyler...love to see local success. That is quite an awesome group of kids in that age group, from nv, covina, charter oak. Way to REPRESENT gOOD lUCK TYLER

Don said:

Well done Tyler.

Lots of hours paying off.

congrats to the Pill Family.

sramirez said:

What, getting to the CWS five times since 2001 is not enough for you? Pill will also join a recruiting class from 2008 that is rated second in the country by Baseball America. It appears Fullerton is doing just fine. With Pill in line to join Diamond Bar's Gary Brown, it likes like they just maybe the SGV Titans again, as was the case earlier this decade.

Joe Amat said:

WOW !!

Ignorant post by an ignorant poster with an ignorant moniker!

CSUF went to the College World Series LAST season and got eliminated in the longest game in CWS history by UC Irvine, who was coached by....CSUF's NEW COACH Dave Serrano.
The Titan's are in great hands, will continue their success and Pill will be a part of that.

Congrats to the Pill's !!!
