Last years Charter Oak team was better than this years Charter Oak team.

Last Years El Dorado team is not as good as this years El Dorado team.

Steve Fryer doesn't appear real informed about the sgv,he probably doesn't get up this far north much, he probably has just seen the scores of some of our teams & makes his judgment from that, he obviosly has not seen Charter Oak if he thinks South Hills is the only threat to the OC schools. I think West co may suprise some people to.

I don't know much about Compton centennial other than their coming here to Baldwin Park to play my BRAVOS!! Does any one know how good or bad Compton is ??? Get back at me people I got $$$ on the game!!!

when it comes to playoffs....everyone will see how easy the SGV teams have it....especially in the NorthWest division....where these teams will get stomped on by the likes of teams from the Del Rey league....arguably one of the toughest leagues in Southern California

I still say they are stupid and worthless. But some of these posters base everything on them. I believe what takes place on the field is evidence enough to gauge teams. Of course you have to take into account the occasional anomaly like trick plays and such.

Going to Morro Bay was a great trip last year. Prior to leaving, everyone assumed the worst, but actual it was an awesome trip. Long day but enjoyable being with family and friends. Just try to leave around 1pm to get thru the 101 traffic especially on a Friday afternoon. Then it’s a straight shot…

Great scenic route up the 101 coast. Stop off at Anderson’s if you like spilt pea soup!

Hey upset I like the Rosemead Panthers drawing Shurr but their the defending Champs and its a rematch from 04 and 01. Panthers lost to Schurr my freshman year in 04 in the same stinking 1st round of CIF. RHS has not made it out of the 1st round since 2000. I sure hope my friends on the football team have their mind on the game and not that stupid turkey dinner for thanksgiving play their hearts out and end 7 yrs of dissapointment.

Norwalk has two kids who both have over 1200 yds apiece. Their o-line is huge and they run a double wing all night long. They don't punt the ball except for quick kicks which has only happened once in four game films. They lost to Mayfair by two and that was on a last minute Missed fg by norwalk. Should co win, yes bit it's not the first round team a #2 wants.

Ayala will play Norco tough....Norco is not good against the pass, which Ayala will do against them all night long....The challenge for Ayala will be to stop the run and cause some turnovers.

BP FAN and BP'R are really getting to me now. I don't even know that much about the VVL other than Nico must be pretty good. The league is pretty weak in my opinion. BP players, staff, fans, admin, and so on have always coducted themselves with little to no class. I usually like all SGV teams to do well, but BP is the exception.

I've spoken with a few people that know the Oaks team, and they say they are very beatable. Saints, don't believe the hype. Remember: App. State over Michigan, Stanford over USC, Texas over USC, Boise State over Oklahoma, UCLA over USC, Jets over Colts (SB III), Penn State over Miami, Boston College over Miami, Ohio State over Miami, etc.. We see it happen all the time.

Gilmore will have to run for 200+ to win. His big games were against weak comp 15-25 and less yardage games with good defenses 29-10.

Was at the Inland division playoffs selection this morning. Glendora seemed a little pissed off that they were not the #4 seed. They drew a tough draw against Upland.........that game will go either way.

As for Damien.........unless they get some team speed in a hurry, they have little to no chance against Miller.

Same thing for Ayala.........Norco will pound them into the ground.

Better luck next year for the SGV teams in the Inland division. The IE schools are too loaded for any of the SGV teams in the Inland division

I'm willing to Bet you a dinner for 2 at your favoite restuarant that Monrovia will make it to the Finals in this Division. It's a whole new mindset with these guys. If they play these teams like they played TC they will make a real statement all the weapons are healthy and playing like they want to win. I Would love to see a Monrovia/Duarte finals. Like Ex-Falcon said, there will be no excuse,It will be the Marquise Williams/Chris Harris show. If Duarte can get by Blair. Dwight Smith and Marquise Williams are becoming the premiere running back tandem in the SGVN and will be back next year to do it again.

If vegas had a line on this game, my money would go on the TARTANS. They have good athletes but just don't play as well as past teams. If you pound out long drives on O and get to their QB I say you win by 14.

As you know I enjoy knocking heads with Tartan parents but this is on the field fact.

- The Mayor Trophy was picked up at GHS by a CO Superentendit, while they dropped off the get well soon card to Brent Marteney... The card was in the trash 30 seconds later. So you, CO, do have it. And the trophy needs to be retired and get a new bigger one. Its a real lousy trophy. 2nd Grade science project awards are nicer. For this big of a game it should be huge! best of Luck to you CO. Upland is a good first round pick for us when considering they took 3rd in the Baseline league; the same league Etiwanda finished 1st in. The Tartans took care of Etiwanda very early in the season. Granted Etiwanda surely improved, but so did the Tartans.

We need to concentrate on Upland and Upland only at this time. Practice hard this week boys. We need to be running on all cylinders!

Interesting trivia fact.
The pricipal at Morro bay High School has a San Gabriel Valley connection. He is Pete Zotovich who was the offensive backfield coach at San Gabriel High School of the Mission Valley Leagues championship teams of the late 70's. Head Coach Randy Backus of Temple City was a memeber of those teams. Skip Herrington was the head coach at SGHS at that time.

You will be playing in Orange at Fred Kelly Stadium. Take the 57 S to 91 East to the 55 S and get off on Chapman its about a mile East of the Fwy.

The visitor side is all cement stands so bring some padding. The field is very nice.

Well, BP is going to eat Centennial and all of the Church's Chicken in Compton for dinner, except Centennial is coming to BP on the Silver Platter Transit.

I am just here to say thath i believed the valle vista league got screwed, they were all league champs and they got the top seed, and the best third place team in the division, however, morro bay vs northview should be a good game b/c if you look at the schedule of both teams, nv has a shot........ If vegas had a line on this game, my money would go on the TARTANS. They have good athletes but just don't play as well as past teams. If you pound out long drives on O and get to their QB I say you win by 14.

As you know I enjoy knocking heads with Tartan parents but this is on the field fact.

Oaks Christian being ranked 85th in state is a challenge for anybody in the SGV.

They would beat Glendora too!

cant say that Im happy about San Dimas having to play Oaks Christian. This was the team I was hopling not to play all year. Last years team is still fresh in my mind. However anything can happen.

PLAID-LAD!!hahahaahaha....San Dimas is not a very good team, sorry to say as nice as Coach Z is....Barbone is very talented but that defense is going to get dominated.Oaks Christian is lightyears ahead of San Dimas.Regardless of whether or not Clausen or Tyler or the rest have graduated, Oaks Christian will always beat San Dimas; guranteed.Who has SD even played this year that is worth anything at all?I mean seriously, they're a "cute" football team for the little protected division they are in but when they get out of that division, there is just no way they can compete with the likes of Oaks Christian/Morro Bay/Serra/Oak Park/etc...I think they'd even lose to North Torrance to be honest.

As far as Glendora, Wow.Going to be insanely tough to get out of the first round against a very talented Upland squad.Hope they come prepared.Home game definately should help some.

I'm an El Do dad and Alumni. I just enjoy HS football in the SGV.

I've seen both Canyon and West Co play. Canyon will eat up West Co's defense. If West Co can run like they did against South Hills then they might have a shot.

Canyon is a lot like South Hills. Josh Hawkins is a stud RB and Jordan Thomas is a very good QB.

I think Canyon wins but West Co does have a shot.

Just got done examining the rest of the CIF games. Some are..and some aren't a surprise.

The one game that stands-out in my mind is the San Dimas and Oak Christian game. Knowing all year just how good SD is I consider them to have the inside track on this one.

Coach Z will undoubtedly be prepared as well as SD's wing-t.

Oak Christian is not the same team as last year and by all evaluations has dropped off several notches with the graduation of certain athletes.

With SD's stingy O & D I'm pulling for them to establish SGV football in the Northwest Division.

FYI: There should be nothing "Saintly" about the way you guys need to play right now. Kick ass!

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say I want all SGV teams to win. I want them to win until they play El Do.

I hope El Do gets to play South Hills and then Charter Oak in the Finals.

Why would an underdog (Wilson) take Mayfair lightly? It would be the other way around. Wilson has to believe they can beat them and prepare that way.

GHS vs Upland

Okay...by now we all are aware that we received Upland for our first CIF game. All things considered we should be fine with that selection. Upland is a great opponent any time of the year. In years past they were a regular on our schedule. But that was then and this is now. GHS has come a long way from kicking-rocks in the parking lot over the CIF playoff games. We have one week to prepare for what is sure to be a great competition over at Citrus. Everyone needs to stay focussed on this game and this game ONLY. We come ready like I know we will, and get past this first round there will be little in our path to crush our MOTIVATION & SPIRIT.

FYI: Stay positive throughout....it's time to show-case the "best of the best."

I agree that ElDo is a better team then last year. But are they beat-able?....I say, yes. Looking at who they have faced (including GHS) and who they will square-off with in the weeks to follow, will be interesting. Being a SGV homer my money is on CO. CO is not the same team as last year either. They display strong evidence of being more focussed and determined this year compared to last. With their current pedigree they should go deep in the play-off picture. Seeing ElDo three times this year, and CO twice, afforded me the opportunity to gauge what each team brings to the field. CO's (Snowden and company) should have no problems rounding the corners for big yards as CO's WR make light of what ElDo gives up in the flats defensively. ElDo will show a strong QB with time in the pocket to hit most of his targets. ElDo's running game is descent with a good looking RB that knows how to find the seams necessary to pick up yards when needed. If this sounds a little even....things will separate as CO's Special Teams and twitch-speed wins it...hands down. But before all of this football digest takes place...both have a heavy order to complete in CIF.

Guys, guys, guys.
The same things were said last year. Ive seen El Dorado play. They are even better than last year. The QB is 6'4 Jr that his dad played in the NFL. The starting defense only gave up 4 touchdowns all year. They shut-out Glendora and played back-ups the entire 2nd half. I was at Citrus to see the game and sat near Farrar and he says they are so much better than last year. If you have seen them feel free to comment otherwise be carefull cuz we all said the same things last year.

Wow im suprised that WestCo made it since there starting runningback and quarterbacks are sophomores...however they did really good against south hills....they might be a breakout team in a couple years...i think in the finals its gotta be charter oak vs. El Dorado...charter oak taking it

given how young the west co team is Im glad to see them in the playoffs. The jv team finished 7-3 and the freshmen team did well also. The playoffs will help the soph and jr playing varsity gain valuable experiance for next year. Good luck west co.

I personnaly saw CO play against DR and I think they will smoke all the teams in the playoffs. I am a DR fan..but I think this is the strongest team in the Miramonte League by far...go and represent and kick some oc ass

The two best teams in the Southwest Division are South Hills and Charter Oak ! El Dorado is overrated and Trabuco Hills is Waayy overrated ! Yes they beat South Hills in week one, but even then they knew they stole it, not to mention what the Huskies will do to them if they see them again.

I think maybe you should rethink the Mid-Valley Div. Finals. Although Monrovia lost to Blair and Duarte, they have really come alive in the past 5 games, I think that if Blair or Monrovia play any of the Montview schools you may call it an upset. But I think that going by what I am seeing in the latter part of this season, its a whole new world in this division. Monrovia played it's rival Duarte with it's star running back out of the game and 5 first half turnovers and a new QB. At this point of the season the QB has thrown for over 1500 yrds and the running game is on track to sweep teams that cannot control not just one but two potential D1 running backs. Just a reminder not to sleep on the Wildcats or Blair for that matter. See you at the Finals

Both Trabuco and South Hills are much improved but the two best teams in the Southwest are El Do and CO

Mayfair, Canyon and Foothill are all tough so the quarter-finals will have some good match-ups

Both will be great games. Who-ever is healthiest will be there in the Finals.

We all know about El Dorado and the ED defense is even better this year. Checked them out last night vs Villa Park they are dominate holding VP. If you havent seen Trabuco play either your missing the boat. They are much better than last year and have alerady beaten South Hills. I know SH has made some changes but for SH to make the finals they need to be in the same bracket as TH. In a rematch I think Sh would win (the old saying its hard to beat the same team twice in a football season seems to hold true). El Dorado strength is what SH does. Charter Oak will have a tough time against Trabuco after last years game. Should be great games all around, heres to a all NON-OC southwest final. Id hate to go watch the game at OCC or Cal St Fullerton watching El Dorado vs Trabuco but it could EASILY happen.

Re: Southeast Division--so by now everyone must know that Troy had to forfeit their wins because of an illegal player and Fullerton and La Habra ended 4-0 in league. Fullerton didn't play LH due to the fires situation.

LH and Fullerton had to toss a coin on who would be the #1 seed . . . AND Fullerton won, so they are the # 1 seed out of the Freeway League.

AND even though LH has been the CIF # 1 seed the entire season, a # 2 team in league cannot be seeded # 1 in CIF. So California will be seeded #1 in CIF with LH being seeded #2.

This changes EVERYTHING in the Southeast division now!!
