Saturday Morning Quarterback: Charter Oak, South Hills advance

Friday's CIF-SS Quarterfinal results

Southwest Division
Charter Oak 40, West Covina 21 -- It was only 27-21 Charter Oak going into the fourth quarter when Kanaan Snowden put it away, scoring two of his three touchdowns in a four-minute span. Chargers will host Trabuco Hills next Friday.
Trabuco Hills 55, Wilson 6 -- No more lifelines left for the Cats. But it was a great run and Happy Gilmore is back next season.
South Hills 41, Foothill 17 -- This is the kind of statement win the Huskies needed. That's a thorough vicotry over one of the division's best teams. It's on to ElDo.
El Dorado 27, El Toro 9 -- Hmm, not exactly blowing away the competition are they?

Southeast Division
California 34, South El Monte 21 -- At the end of the night, Cal's rushing attack just too much.

Inland Division
Corona Centennial 49, Glendora 7 -- Centennial the real deal, ending one of best Tartans runs in over a decade.

CIF-SS Southwest Division semifinals
Friday

No. 3 Trabuco Hills (11-1) at Charter Oark (10-1-1), 7:30 p.m.
Saturday
No. 4 South Hills (10-2) at El Dorado (11-1), 7:30 p.m.

Glendora no match for Centennial
By Steve Ramirez Staff Writer

CORONA -- All the pregame hype about the Corona Centennial High School football team centered on Division I recruits Matt Scott and Ryan Bass and the Huskies' explosive offense.

But Centennial proved Friday night that they also can play some pretty good defense, and the Huskies proved it by overpowering visiting Glendora and scoring an impressive 49-7 victory in a CIF-SS Inland Division quarterfinal game.

Centennial, the division's top seed and ranked No. 20 in the country by USA Today, improved to 11-1 and advanced to face either Chaparral or A.B. Miller in next weekend's semifinals. Glendora, which enjoyed its best season in more than a decade, finished 9-3.

Scott and Bass, who have committed to the University of Arizona, were their expected selves in combining for more than 400 yards of total offense. But it was Centennial's dominance on defense that told the story for the Tartans.

Glendora, which averaged nearly 240 yards per game rushing through its previous 11 games, was limited to 95 on 34 carries. The Tartans' one-two punch of Jake Vega and Andre Holmes, who had combined for more than 1,600 yards on the ground going into Friday's encounter, were held to 46 and 28 yards, respectively.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We had a hard time running the ball," Glendora coach Mark Pasquarella said. "We had a hard time blocking them. They have good players, and once we got on them, we couldn't stay on them.

"We get on them, and they'd get off of our guys in a hurry."

The Huskies, who got 186 yards rushing and four touchdowns from Bass, also wasted little time in getting started by driving 53 yards on their opening possession to take a 7-0 lead. The drive was set up when Pasquarella made the decision to onside the opening kickoff.

"We were going to try and see if we could steal another possession," he said. "(Glendora kicker Vince Lehigh) kicked it a little bit too far. It was just a gamble we took, but I'm not sure it had a big say in the game."

It did, however, give the Huskies a short field to operate on, and they quickly turned it to their advantage when Bass followed a 22-yard run by Scott with a 1-yard run up the middle for the 7-0 lead with 9:10 left in the first quarter.

Glendora almost answered back.

The Tartans, who did receive 161 yards passing from quarterback Drew Kaluzny, caught Centennial a bit by surprise with a short passing game. But Glendora's opening drive stalled when a Kaluzny pass on fourth-and-5 from the Centennial 13 was intercepted in the end zone by Kenneth Anderson.

"We caught them with a couple of things early," Pasquarella said. "But they adjusted and it wasn't there anymore. Early in the game we had trouble protecting (Kaluzny). We had people open, but we couldn't get it off because we couldn't block (Vontaze Burfict)."

The Tartans, who did force one turnover and stopped the Huskies on fourth down, did have their chances after trailing just 7-0 after the first quarter.

But Glendora couldn't take advantage of the play of its defense, and eventually Centennial were the Tartans down.

"I was happy with the way our defense played," Pasquarella said. "They actually gave us some chances early in the game."

Trojan Man shut up square bush!!!! your son is a big faggit. hes a square. sorry about the divorce, get over it

See joe amat all you have now is your history of Amat football....what has amat done since playing Loyola at Cerritos college and losing that game. from there they have been non existant and will continue that trend...no one goes to amat to play football anymore. The glory days are over and by the way your rival St. Paul is in the semis as well and could very well win a championship...Amat is done

Anonymass (whichever one you are)

Someone (a Los Altos guy to be more specific-not an amat "die hard") asked a question...and it got answered! No smack involved at all.

This younger bro that I speak of "transferred" to Royal Oak (which got absorbed into Charter Oak) just like Wells "transferred" to South Hills. So, in a way, by the transitive property of bloggerism... it is related to the subject at hand !:?)

You Amat die hards give it a rest already!...this is about CO and SH...when you make the playoffs Amat then come back in blowing your smack until then can the Amat takes or start running your baseball, wrestling or Basketball mumbo jumbo.

No it was Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.

I think that Mike Garcia had the unfortunate task of following John Sciarra who followed Pat Haden. Good QB, seemed like a really good, easy-going, fun-loving guy, but a tough couple of acts to follow. That was back in the day we stilled filled MSAC. I I remember, Mike had a younger bro (Jim/Jeff?) that we thought would be good, but he "transferred" to Royal Oak and I think played there.

That Mike Garcia?

joe amat,
do you remember a qb from amat ?
mike garcia

WHAT BOYS WERE CAUGHT SMOKING ???
I HAVE NEVER HEARD ABOUT THAT . ARE YOU SURE ?!?!

If they were ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FROM PLAYING , NO ROOM FOR THAT !!!

Highly doubt if that was TRUE !

SMOKE ON

TM

ITS THE PARK INCIDENT WHERE THE GHS BOYS WERE CAUGHT BY THE COPS AT THE PARK SMOKING THE REEFER, HENCE THE PHRASE "FINISH IT" WAS BORN TO BE ON BANNERS.

Scotty Fizz 1 :

STOP BASHINg , & using SOMEONE ELSES NAME !!!

Co Bro (if it's really you)Nov 25- @ 3:01am

If you knew anything you'd kow Kanyn Snowden did NOT cut his hair it's called a braid. And as far as Ben Counce telling you anything regarding the matter, you need to stop the lies and focus on why you seem to be unable to speak the truth. Why would you talk about three boys in this matter?

Price to get in to a HS football game at Citrus College - 3 to 5 dollars.

1 Dozen lame ass (unendorsed by Pasqy) 'FINISH IT' banners at 'Dora Football games - 750 dollars (Plaid Lad's mangy pockets)

Look on the unecessary and environmentally ignorant Monster SUV Driving Pig Parents of Tartan Nation faces when 'Dora
gets a reality check in the playoffs by Corona Centennial - priceless.

Charter Oak, Big Lou and Dom would have pulled the upset easily. That is why Big Lou will be SGV CotY !

Plaid Lad ...you played football where? Whatever school you went to , back in the day, what would you have thought if someone ..ie Dads ..carried a sign that said "Finish It!" (And "mugged" for the cameras!) Down right silly (at best) and pretty stupid (at worst).

That sign was offensive, stupid, childish and spells of POOR SPORTSMANSHIP! And here's one more tip for the Glendora Dads..let the wife's and girlfriends wear the players' (son's) Lettermen jackets!

That's the first and only time I've EVER seen that and unfortunately it won't be the last. There is one exception to the Lettermen jacket rule...grandpas and grandmas can wear then anytime!

Hallmark me a clever response P/L. Better yet imagine how classless that sign would look at a JAA game. Opps!

Those debating GHS's loss to CC (both haters and Tartan fan's who are coach haters)...GET REAL! I had hopes that our boys could hang with CC. I think with a couple of breaks and inspired play, we could have. It just wasn't to be. But look at the facts man.

1. CC is #1 IN THE STATE and ranking is now #4 IN THE NATION (I guess beating us had a very good effect on their standing ;)

2. They play in perhaps the toughest league in our tough division. And how did they do against the 3 or league teams?

- vs. Corona 38-3 (they did not make playoffs)

- vs. Norco 43-7 That's last year's CIF champs, and 2nd place in league. They beat Ayala in the first round 27-7 before losing to REV last week.

- vs. Santiago 69-7 (ouch!) These guys qualified as our division's wild card team...and rightly so. They beat Etiwanda 52-35 in round won and then upset undefeated Vista Murrieta last week 32-24! They are STILL PLAYING!!

And CC dumped Carter 59-14 first round. We didn't do so bad when you look at THAT. It makes you realize just how right Coach P. was to be upset at the pairings. As a league champ we deserved to miss CC until round 3. We had a good chance of beating most any of the other teams left. But CC was clearly the better team (not just coaching). Those are the facts.

Hey football fans. Come out to the Charter Oak post game celebration at our house. We'll BBQ and have a full bar. Bring anything you want. PARTY!!!!!

News Flash... You're not CC, so you can't do it and you didnt do it!

49-7

OUT AGAIN!

Plaid LAD developed that sign after last season 'Finish It' originated when his son wanted to quit football last year. Plaid LAD ordered a dozen signs with his own money so that is why he's mad.

SEMHS is a good team with dedicated players and coaches. This year we had a special team as we did in 2005. We made some huge mistakes against Cal. We gave up 28 pts on four plays. Two on special teams and two on blown defensive assignments. Each touchdown pass went for 40+ yards. Cal might have put one or two legit drives. They were averaging over 250 yds a game. They had about 50 yards in the first half.

The score does not say it all...at all in this game. Erase a few mistakes and the Eagles are playing against La Habra.

About Urias, he is doing bigger and better things. To both parents and other critics. Unless you are on the field you will never know what kind of coach Urias is and what he does for football programs. I I say this loosely, that is an open ended statement.

One player does not make a team and neither does a coach. This is not about Urias but about the players at South. So, stop giving attention and credit to others.

Until players stop being recruited from the city's successful youth football program South will not win a CIF championship. Linemen win games on both sides of the ball. You need to have quality and size up front. Just ask Schurr. Nobody thought that they would win CIF last year nor that they would make it this far this year. However, look at their line. There you will find the reason as to why they make it so far.

Anonymous at November 25, 2007 9:17 PM

Dude I better give it up cause there is no teaching the unknowledgeable... and if you can't play catch up with 5 yard outs, then how do you march down the field with screens, as CC did.

I am putting this baby to bed, believe what you want to believe, but talk to anyone that really knows football or athletes in general, they'll tell you that you can't make statements about one team being so much better than another if one side is not put into the position to show what they can really do.

Out...

THANK YOU,

Did "Finish It" have a subliminal message as in we are "Finished"

Rosemead,
I agree with you, he has moved on to bigger and better things. Coach Jerry Urias is a great person and deserves all the success in the world, he helped kids from all the school in El Monte that asked him for it, he did NOT care what school you came from, he would work with you and give it up his own time when ever possible. We wish him well, and support his efforts. Still wish we would have kept him at Arroyo, we had him and he got away !!!!!!!!

Someone should thank the Amat family for refusing Wells and allowing that transfer to South Hills. If not for Wells South Hills is nowhere to be found and is not in these Semis. WHAT A GIFT! MERRY CHRISTMAS

Response to: FB purist

Am I to understand that you would like an explanation over a "FINISH IT" sign?......all because you found it "annoying" and you're "offended????"

No need to go there....you exemplify your own definitions.

FYI: Excuse the tone of my offensive and annoying language....(someone please hand this madam a Kleenx).

PLAID LAD

Congrat's to Coach Urias for moving on to bigger & better things... Rumor has it that Escamilla is steping down, and Coach Williams is leaving to FC Football staff.

SEM has a good staff with Coach Vizcarra( offensive coord.) and Coach Williams(Def. Coord.)It was because of these two coaches that SEM turned around there season!! Escamilla is good but these coaches make him better! I wish Urias well but Escamilla has the coaches to make a run next year!

Look out but did anyone ever think that a So. Hills Trubuco Hills Championship game is possible?

South Hills has an excellent football program. Since 1964, they have had only 4 head football coaches in their history (43 years). Regardless of El Dorado's team size, speed, record, etc. SHHS will come to play, bringing with them a huge following. They will expect to win.

Going, going, gone.... Good Luck to Urias and FC and Good Luck to Escamilla and SEM.

Monterible wanted him gone for personal reasons, but the funny thing is thats the best thing she could have done for him because he would have never left those kids. South El Monte had a great run, he is at a much much better position now, south is better than its ever been, he still helps them, and escamilla learn how to run a successful program (and will continue what he learned). Just let it go.

Eagle Special,
That's nice ! I'm sure he was sad, after all he knew his program was going to take a HIT, it must suck to loose your best coach PERIOD. My eyes are open, I know one of his (Escamilla) friends and that's how I know he had something to do with it. It's water under the bridge now, and Coach Urias has moved on and from what I have heard is doing really well, and us parents are very happy for him, he helped our boys and still looks out for them.

"Finish it"? Finish what?...I could see that banner in a Championship game or even a Semi-finals game but a quarter finals game?, that was so premature and down right stupid taking that sign over to CC Home turf. Maybe Glendora hopeful can re0use that banner at next seasons spring practice as a motivator? Or at least hang it over the Cheerleaders as they eat, those plump girls finish their meals as you can see.

Anonymous at November 25, 2007 9:17 PM

What game were your watching? Nobody passed rush or closed on anybody in that game. You're guys got blow off the ball up front on both sides and that's not coaching! That's bigger, faster, stronger, better.

What was the GHS rushing yards? How many sacks on your QB? Your can't play catch up on 5-10 yard outs all night.

Dude, give it up! Your coaches are not to blame! Just a way better talented team!

Urias Fan, I know for a fact that Escamilla didn't have anything to do with Urias being fired. I saw Escamilla that day he found out Montero fired Urias. He was so distraught. I've never seen him like that. This is a qoute straight from the HC's mouth that day. "How do I tell my best coach, and good friend, that he's(Urias) fired." He was so sad. You obviously don't know what you're talking about. My eyes are open. Are your's?

I saw that "FINISH IT" sign and thought it was pretty dumb too. Who actually forked out the bread on that stupid banner anyway? what a waste of money for a horrible idea.

do the Tartan faithful take supplements too? haha

WILDCAT MOM,
apology accepted. the blog this weekend hit an all time low with all of us going after one another. see you at the charter oak game.

I know that Midget Montero fired Coach Urias, but I also Know Escamilla had something to do with it, open your eyes. If your around the program you can see that Escamilla was not pleased that Urias got all the credit, and he should get the credit, Coach Urias made SEM what the are today. You bet he had input, that's the kind of person he is, he wants the kids to win. Just ask the boys that have played for him what they think, and the ones on the team now. They will tell you the same thing, with him they would have won.

COACH URIAS HAS BEEN THERE FOR THE SOUTHMEN & HE HAS MOVED ON TO BIGGER & BETTER THINGS IN LIFE.

Urias Fan, First off, Escamilla didn't fire Urias. Montero did. Escamilla would never let go Urias. Urias was a great asset to the program, its a shame Motero let people from the around the district get in her ear. Second, That Semi-Final game our so proud of, South had 70 points dropped on them. Escamilla and his staff did a great job this year. They had a great run, but Cal is flat out a better team then South. With or without Urias, SEM goes down to the Cal Condors. The truth hurts, but you gotta face it.

URIAS FAN,

If your really a fan URIAS you would not put the coaching staff down. To start your season 0-4 and rebound to pull off seven straight thats impressive! He had some input this season, he will always be an EAGLE

Dear Anon, and everybody else, my deepest appologies, you are absolutely right and I am ashamed of myself. Not to make excuses, but I truly thought I was bantering with a father not a child. Again, I am very sorry, never again will you see that from this mom

Plaid Lad. I really liked your hall mark posts but I have to ask one question before this season of great high school football ends....

"Who's idea was it to make that stupid "FINISH IT!!" sign.

I know it must have taken a few brewskis to come up with the idea ...but serously who's idea was that?

I found it offensive. But that's just me. On the other hand after 15 years of being mediocre it took some leap of faith to think you guys would even be in that position more than half your games given your recent history. That's why it bothers me so much. I think it was a dose of supplements that had the Glendora faithful so amped up this year. Or maybe it was last year's team near success but then again...you lost your best player in Edmonds and still thought you would be better this year? That's kind of odd don't you think? Either way the idea for the sign? Please sir...the floor is yours.

Anon, those comments have been taken down

Fred your bloggers are mentioning hurting each other with guns. Please do something before someone loses it. This blog is becoming like a a bathroom stall wall at zendejas in san dimas. anyone can write any crap. call in the cyber janitors before someone gets hurt. that Wilson Wildcat parent threatening a young boy and his genetalia is borderline criminal and you my friend and the san gabriel valley tribune are accomplises. clean this blog up !

Congrat's to Coach Urias and the SEM Eagles, Oh I forget (his no longer coaching them, maybe that's why they lost). What happened to Genius ESCUMILLA ? Let's do the math, with Urias we advanced to the Semi-finals without him we cant get out of the second round !!!!! What a waste of talent, I guess coaching does make a differnce in high school ball.... The Eagles will go down more and more each year under Escamilla, your ride is over SEM.

First off , Congrats to SH AND CO and good luck on your next game. A all SGV championship is what I want, so bring it and make it happen. CO beating CC? never happens, not even close, two different programs and much more talent on the CC side. Glendora, great season but to start bashing the coaching and the refs? just admitting your team was overpowered by a better team, the rest is useless and classless. Take it like a good sport and move on. SH and CO will be a tight games against TH and El-DO and it can swing either way for both of them. WC great season and you came to play and ended up on the short end. WC will bounce back ,very young and gifted team, they will be the SH / CO of next year. Amat, end the Verti nonsence, he is back next year for better or worse who the F knows??. Loved seeing Crespi of the Serra league beat Mater Dei. Crespi vs Serivte good game, LB Poly vs O-Luth Even a better game.

john,

Is the bad news you're hearing regarding some "parental confrontations" that have occurred that ended negatively or something with administration. Or maybe one led to the other?!?

For those asking about the Charter Oak video, we never promised one. Our video man, Raul Roa, was on vacation for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will have a Charter Oak highlights package of Friday's game against Trabuco Hills.

Anonymous, If you go over this thread, you will notice that several of the comments you were speaking of have been deleted. By next fall, we will start registration. I don't want to start it now, I'd rather finish the football season.

Anonymous

Regarding CC's definitive victory of Glendora. Why can't every other team who was beaten by more than 40 points by Corona make the same claims that the difference was simply coaching?

Winning requires both talent and coaching. Sometimes, great talent can win just by hiking the ball. Great coaching can do little if the opponent has overwhelming talent.

This years CC team would beat Glendora, and most other teams, 19 times out of 20 times, last Friday evening was not the one in 20.

Attention FredJ! Your private life does deserve some time and your public life has earned you a few days off over the weekend but when you not on this blog read the comments posted this weekend.

Attention SRamirez! You have posted comments throughout the blog this weekend why don't you do something about the comments that you and I have both read this weekend?

Hey Amat fans, anyone know if Verti has had his end of the year evaluation. I am not hearing good things, any info would be great!!!!!

This is really sad...... Your poor mothers' you should be shamed of yourselves. I hope none of the Charter Oak or South Hills athletes read any of this junk! If so, stop. Focus on your upcoming game and regardless of the outcome, you are playing this weekend.

Good Luck Charter Oak!!! Good Luck South Hills!!

DaRanch...

YOur teams' coach- Loren Grover- he was at Artesia last year...look where they went (State Champion)

...They hired Grover....then What happened to Ed Taylor???

Basketball time....YEA BABay! The Ranch is back in action and should be fighting for the top spot in da Val this year. Loaded all around and the big man Cunningham is better than eva. I'm sure Le Ducy will have Glendora primed and ready to roll again. They've got Dom who can shoot it and 2 nice guards Beckwith & Brothers back, but don't see much back inside. Will they run it this year with all those guards? The Ranch will run AND take it inside, so I'm likin the matchup. We need a Roundball thread here Fred. Jump Ball Time

Anony from Glendora who thinks our coach's had a bad game plan. I think we come close to CC athletically, but they clearly have more athletes and a bit better speed. The size difference just wasn't there. As for there not being many long plays given up by out D, don't you think that was BECAUSE we played off their WR's and gave them some space in the flats? Play up and we'd get beat deep 3 or 4 more times than the one time we did. I'm not saying it definately the best way to play it, but I do trust our coaches to know our personnel best. It got us that far. Did you really expect to beat the best team in the state? I did hope to see a closer game and with a couple of breaks here and there it would have been. Great season guys.

JFR,

I accept your apology and for those of you Glendora fathers and Glendora fans that have been hateful and spiteful please take note on the exchanges between JFR and myself. Please let this be an example and a lesson to each of you that although we are very passionate and feel very strongly about our teams ultimately they are OUR teams and settling our differences and putting our differences aside we can find common ground and support the greater good for the many in our Valley. I hate that we aren't playing Friday night but I do love that on both nights I can go watch and support the last two local teams standing in the Valley. JFR the thought of Charter Oak every year being the heavyweight in our Valley just is difficult to accept because you make your annual trip to the Semifinals look so easy and I just wish every athlete had that experience just once especially my child. Good luck and stay healthy...

Anonymous at November 25, 2007 12:08 PM

Ok... let me get this straight... they didn't match up... well if all the athletes that GHS "didn't have" was the real difference, don't you think there would have been more long plays... oh yea but there weren't. As anyone in coaching knows, adjustments are what win and lose games... in any sport any level. and matching up has a whole lot to do with the position you start the play in... hence DEFENSIVE STRATEGY. So in response to you yes the game would have been different had there been better coaching. Also, I seem to remember seeing CC players being run down if/when they broke, even their long pass play. Young closed from about fifteen yards to less than five by the time the kid got to the endzone. You tell me who had more "speed".
By the way, don't get all hurt because someone is pointing out your lack of football knowledge. And I never claimed to be Mr. Football, it's just easy to seem that way when debating with some people. So thank you for the compliment...

JFR, I commend your honesty and wish all bloggers felt for our boys and their parents the way you do. Salute my friend

Yes, basketball season is here. But hey, lets not forget about WRESTLING... OH YEAH!!!!

R2D2,

I remember that I thought it was strange that he went to Damien in the first place - he was obviously a Conq from the start. That was not meant to imply that Shaun was not accepted or a leader at all. I actually came across Felipe and Fernie and some of the other FB/baseball guys before their LA days. Great group of guys and it's no wonder they were successful.

You're the tightest blogger here with Gano, so tell me this (just between you and me - no one else is reading...right !:?) is that pretty much how the POY that year went down?

Glendora Tartan Fan,

I did not know you were a father and therefore understand your disgust for some of my comments this year. I admit that one father got my water boiling so my jabs turned into blanket statements against all GHS dads. For that, I apologize. I love the way GHS plays "stop us if you can" football, It reminds me of the good old days.

JFR,

Fred or his tech boys are against logging in under one screen name, sad part is it is so simple to set it up that way...

Thats the main reason I do not post often, my "Joe Colt" has been hijacked numerous times and there is no accountability regarding comments...

Its not as if its real accountability but at least you can be assured the person who wrote a cooment is the same person you know through the blog, the anon's are everywhere and can be anyone... This will eventually be the demise of the blog...

AnyMouse who is a good friend of mine refuses to continue to blog here do to the BS, I cant blame him and may follow suit shortly...

Good luck CO, SH etc...

Joe Colt

joe amat;
shuan kives next to los altos, but he qwent to damien his freshman year, then came back the next year, im sure hes as glad as la that he came back, actually i think went because of basketball .

yeah and when he was growing up he said dad mom when i grow up i want to be a viking. who cares the valle vista league is lousy and if south hills is your team that doesn't make you a true northview fan either you trader!

Hey ima really close person To Oscar Robles and after spaeking to him over thanks giving that transfer is bullcrap.Hes a great honest kid and i asked him bout this statement and he said this would not be true in a million years. His parents and himself are very happy here at the view and he told me plane out that he wasnt there mentally if anything his parnents would tell him crap because they knew he wasnt there either. he put it behind him and he said the new season starts the day after the thnksgiving break. And for that insider everyone was right u wernt at the games because what we saw and wat u saw were completely different.Dont talk crap bout this kid nor potray his family as bad people. Any ways lets go SH in my mind your the pride of the valley lets go all the way and do us proud.

GO SGV

JFR a.k.a. Dr. Sherlock Holmes now too!

I am a one man show and the only reason why I have noticed you was because I will admit you offended me one time with your comments on Glendora Tartan fathers because we may seem like an overzealous group of men but we are a proud group of fathers and I just do not feel you have a right to criticize us for and you use the same word yourself repeatedly our passion for our sons and the game. Did we get beat the night we played you yes, are some of our fans antics hovering bizarre absolutely, but many of us really felt like this was the year sort of speak and losing in the second round and getting beat by Charter Oak in the same year upsets us very much probably some too much but nothing should cause you to attack us personally. There I said what I should of said a long time ago and now I feel better and will no longer stoop to your level. Good luck Friday night and unfortunately I will be going to the game because you are the only ticket left in town...

SGVPride,

Boys basketball prevu is scheduled for Tuesday's paper; girls prevu will be Wednesday

I say we all register so little boys like ANON can no longer hide.

WILDCAT MOM, Bravo, keep it up.

jerry! jerry! jerry! jerry!

JFR IS SKRID OR GALPIN. IT'S YOUR PICK. I SAY CONDEMN ALL THREE.

Fred
So tomorrow is the basketball preview?

JFR

or should I call you Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde? At the very least you have split personalities and at the most your sister was Cybill because from moment to moment you resemble a hated or loving person. Are you an animal or a human being?

Regardless, I just seriously rather read your comments and posts written towards you eating popcorn instead of go to the movies because either you suddenly stopped taking your medicine and need to start taking your medicine again or someone needs to diagnose your condition and prescribe you some medicine. You decide are you a good guy or a bad guy? Smart or dumb? Happy or sad? You play both sides and talk from both sides of your mouth! Maybe you're just a switch hitter...

76er,

I was shocked as well. If I remember Gano made a comment at one time that Aguilar was the leader, heart & soul, MVP...and so on. I felt it was a bit of "coach speak" that was for the good of the team but might not have been his true feelings. Cody was getting all the pub and Felipe may have been the guy that the team looked to as the guy that was there from the beginning, while Shaun was a transfer? You'd know that better than I. Gano may have even awarded Aguilar the MVP at the banquet too. I think the Trib took that comment and ran with it by naming Felipe POY. Tough to contradict the coach and claim to know better. I think Steve was the Prep guy back then. S-Ram if you're out there either confirm or deny?

HAHA, GROWN ADULTS ARGUING ABOUT PREP SPORTS!!!

ANON,

I only flip when people say irresponsible things and feel they can't be held accountable. At least he replied, was it tongue in cheek, you tell me. I respect someone who at least puts a title behind his comments, what's your excuse ANON. Sorry if that was to harsh for you. P.S. I never LOL.

CO's Bro's Daddy, As a matter of fact, I am hot, you little pimpled dick nobody, keep living your life through the SGV Tribune Prep Blog, you think you got the balls to call me out??? Come and find me loser, I will send you home with your d--k between your legs little man. BRING IT!!!!

wow JFR snapped. take it easy JFR, remember you are an adult and it sounds like he got to you

Joe Amat, I can't believe Shaun Cody was no where on that list. I guess I just assumed he was the SGV poy the year he was voted the top prep player in the country by USA Today his senior year...

La Habra, Claremont is technically in LA County but they are not acknowledged as so, kind of like LH in the utmost NW corner of the OC line.

Fas7263; You seem to have forgotten the 2 ass whippings in the last two years, by another OC team: LA HABRA. This makes South Hills 2-5 in regular season play vs the OC

You got it baja glendora II, we will get there early, no way we will sit on the OC side!! BEEP BEEP BEEP and DE FENSE...stomp...stomp... DE FENSE my friend, copying and pasting to all our SGV supporters. GO CHARGERS!!!!!!

FRED R.

wheres the video at?

WILDCAT MOM,
Thanks for the support. I think it would be great to have a HUGE crowd this Friday. FYI we fill that stadium normally, so get there early or risk sitting on the visitor side. That goes for the entire SGV. Let's put our rivalries (sp)aside and cheer for an all SGV finals.
Secondly, our two cheers are "beep...beep...beep" and "DE-FENSE stomp..stomp DE-FENSE". Please come out and help us be the 12th man! Hopefully we can return the favor on Saturday night for the Huskies.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought Co Bro's Daddy, silence is golden you little snot!!!

JFR
yeah Big Lou and Dom have time on game day to introduce us and deal with the fall out of me and my boys pistol whipping you right in front of a packed house. Save yourself the embarassment of making an ass of yourself for such a stupid request, you aren't bigger than a CIF Semifinal game you arrogant donkey. You sound like Mrs. Cop/Coach (basically a self-centered jackass) so shut up.
and Mrs. Wilson back to the kitchen for you and stay home next Friday and do us all a favor! We don't need your support your season is over already!

COHS and GHS you are being HAD by a San Dimas pot stirrer. Hmmmmmmmmmm wonder who that could be?

I and most of the other Wilson Football Boosters will be at the Charter Oak game to support Charter Oak and the SGV Valley, we won't be hard to spot, we will be the ones screaming as loud as we can " Lets Go Chargers ". You are the best in the San Gabriel Valley and we are proud of you!!!!

Fred, If GHS was the game of the week and the video wasnt up yet they would have lynched you by know, what gives?

HSFBFAN,

Snowden never has and no does not live in Monrovia. Absolutely pathetic on your part that you would perpetuate and embellish a rumor that is erroneous, false, and just an inaccurate statement. His residency is in the Charter Oak school district and please be sensitive to the young man and do not minimize and falsely criminalize his successful football season with inflammatory remarks like your post. He has been at Charter Oak since his freshmen year and was their freshmen player of the year before he was sent to the Varsity for the playoffs after his freshmen football season. He has been wearing blue and gold from day one and God willing finishes his career with a C.I.F. Championship. Go introduce yourself to Kanaan you will be very impressed by his character and charisma. Like his name says he is a very blessed young man.

Convict, CO Bros dad,

Will the two of you shut up already! I hope you are just a couple of idiots just trying to stir an empty pot and have absolutely nothing to do with CO. If you do follow CO I am looking forward to meeting you this weekend, ask Big Lou or Dom to introduce us.

Doesn't Snowden still live in Monrovia?????????

Hey Fred -
This blog is no longer fun or informative. The valuable space that should be used to promote SGV high school sports is now full of ignorant, vindictive and yes racist narrow minded people. What a shame. It pains me to write this but Fred I really beleive the time has come to shut the blog down. Maybe at some time these posters will grow up with some respect and this blog can be what it was meant to be.

I agree with you cant we all get along! Someone please stop Co Bro from posting his comments. He is not the "real" CO Bro and his hateful and spiteful posts are sick and wrong! Please, every weekend the blog becomes madness and their is no accountability and consequences for people's words like his actions!

Joe Amat

I think you have nailed it again. Wow, wouldn't it be a more complete award if the criteria did represent a student/athlete/role model.

Who knows, maybe Fred will be different than Aram!

Benny

C/O is hosting at home friday!

Cop/Coach
You get the message as does everybody else that read your original post and rebutal you clown. No one on here is afraid of you nor do your words take anymore weight than anyone else's words in fact yours mean less because of your shallow manufactured statements. We all see right through your sorry ass. How about a ham sandwich you swine?
Charter Oak beat Glendora and they'd beat Centennial too.

Hey dumba--

The bottom line is GHS didnt match up against CC. The number of athletes on the field for CC just was too much for GHS.

I dont care if Coach P was the best coach in HS football, adjustments in any form wouldn't have made the outcome different.

It was interesting to see how you could hear a pin drop in the GHS stands after half time.

Get off your I'm MR. Football and know it all, bottom line 49-7
