As a matter of fact I have heard of FREEDOM OF SPEECH. It is an interesting concept that is often not completely understood. Many think it a protection they can hide behind and say anything they want. It does not protect all speech like a security blanket.

You may want to look up Roth vs U.S. “the unconditional phrasing of the First Amendment was not intended to protect every utterance.”

One other thing to consider is the FREEDOM OF SPEECH argument may not protect you if your opinions are not the truth and cause damage to a persons reputation. You may also want to research "Libel" laws. Here are just the basics.

1.a publication to one other than the person defamed;a false statement of fact; that is understood as
a. being of and concerning the plaintiff; and
b. tending to harm the reputation of plaintiff.

Free speech I 100% agree with it is the lack of thought put into the comments that are not appriciated. Comments made as fact about coaches and players designed to damage a reputation is not what I think Fred had in mind for this BLOG.

My point was that there could come a point that Fred and the Trib decide it is not worth it to continue this site due to the liability of providing the means for Libel. If Freedom of the Press is the next argument they have the same protection as the regular blogger. Why do you think every article is reviewed before print for "Libel"

This is a great site and I still would hate to see it go away because a few can't follow common sense and courtesy when posting.

I like reading posts by the majority of you (CO Bro, Dan, Benny, MTC etc just to name a few)does not mean I agree all the time but respect the thought you put into it and appriciate it when done properly.

I agree on the freedom of speech and opinion. As far as the comment of the acting civilized I hope you did not take it out of context. It was used as an example of some of the "opinion" based posts made here that are not based on fact. To have an opinion requires information, thought and process to arrive at an opinion. To just throw it out there and have reaction based responses serves no purpose. It was not directed at you or 99% of the other posters it was designed to support my opinion for an Ignore button. If the comment was taken as an attack my apology to all and that was not my intent.

You are right that CIF and schools should not care about what is said on the blog. Thoughtless opinions can be used to discredit a program, coach or player and that is something we should all care about.

CO vs Glendora, SH vs WC, Bonita vs San Dimas are all cross town games and there will be some tounge in cheek jabs exchanged, thats part of the fun. Schedule strenght, rankings and calls by the refs are also part of it and this is a good fourm for things like that.

Comments made to slander a player, coach or program are not called for and I am surprised this blog is still running at times. It seems to me that when the "Blog Trolls" out number the legit posters it will be shut down and that would be a shame.

I can agree with most of your post, I am aware that the Charter Oak sophmore played freshman ball at Charter Oak and his school change is legit.
It was already stated a few times on this blog that he was from outside of Charter Oak district, that is why I posted it as a question instead of as a statement. The point of my post was to emphasize that there was no more negativity in the West Covina kid coming back to his home school, than there was in the kid deciding to go to Charter Oak his freshman year instead of the school in his home district.

I agree that its not recruting if a kid and his parents decide to go to another school, I wish they would stay at their home schools but thats their choice, can you imagine how good West Covina would be if their kids stood in their district?
I was talking to an Amat father in my neighborhood
who's son played linebacker in 06 and he was telling me that Dominique Austine also lives in our West Co neighborhood, Carlton Fletcher from the 06 team also is in the West Co district. Thats 3 solid players just from that conversation alone. Isaac Tucker had around 1400 yards this season, can you imagine how many more he would of had with Dominique Austin blocking for him!
Nothing against any of these boy's, they just chose to play football at the pac 5 level in our area so I can't fault them for that, but you could imagine the teams West Co. could have with some of these players.

The great thing about this blog is everyone's right to freedom of speech. If the CIF or local schools and anyone for that matter takes the crap said on this blog as gospel then the people that believe the things said here are the ones with a problem. As long as schools or the players involved know the truth who really cares what people say here???
As far as the schools you talked about CO, LA and the like are always going to be under scrutiny because they are winning programs. It is true that some kids and parents seek out those schools because of their success but also the flip side is the recruiting done by schools that goes back as far as 8th grade.
You were very credible in what you said until you made that ridiculous comment about the dirty players and roid users being more civil than the people who post here. You seem like a smart person. No need to lower yourself to make a comment like that.

WEST COVINA had a good year they went second round with mostly sophmores and juniors. So who ever said west covina sucks is an idiot.What did glendora do besides get blown away on there last game.charter oak and south hills didnt win cif. they played one more game than west covina with mostly seniors and very talented players wow great accomplishment.only thing that really matters is league and cif all the other games are scrimages to me and dont count. they are just practice games so with that said West Covina didnt suck this year they were actually pretty darn good.3-1 in league 2nd round cif one less game played than the league champs from other divisions and our division.not great but with what we had and with what we have gained ill take it...

1. Adam is not from Duarte
2. CIF allows ANY Freshman to attend any school to play if the school accepts them (Dist. transfer). They must leave the day before the 1st day of their Sophmore year to be allowed to play varsity at another school.
3. Adam played Freshman ball at CO.
4. Before you throw it out there make sure you have the facts and know what you are talking about.

Once you throw this crap out there the "Sorry, my bad" post does not erase damage you can cause to a kid or program that has done nothing wrong.

CO Bro the same for the kid who came back to WestCo. He returned to his local school from private school and had not played a varsity sport.

If there is an issue let CIF deal with it instead of throwing recruiting allegations around that are based on your lack of knowledge of the facts and rules.

Glendora, CO, SH, WC, LA, and Amat all have good programs but lately a few have found a way to use this blog to bash players and coaches and each other.

I believe that the transfer in question was actually on the lancers football roster in 06-07 and also played basketball. He left amat during the basketball season, for what we thought was basketball reasons (and that is not out of the question -given the state of lancer hoops at the time), He then enrolled at Mater Dei, before coming back to West Covina when things didn't work out there, probably for the reasons that you state. He is now playing hoops for the bulldogs.

Nothing sinister, this one is simply a boy and his family trying to find the right fit, and I hope that it worked out for him during his senior year.

Most schools recruit and the big ones that are successful and deny it are lying thru thier teeth. It's a fact of HS football. CO, LA, South Hills, Bishop Amat they all do it.

The transfer from Mater dei has been brought up a few times on this board, This young man lives in the West Covina district, his family is from the West Co district, so in reality he came back to his home school, his younger brother has gone to West Covina since his freshman year, & I hear he will be a good player. One other thing is this
transfer did not play varsity ball at Mater Dei, and is not even on last years roster, so this was
his first and only year as a varsity starter for any highschool, not quite the same situation as Wells or Mcbride or any other impact player.

I too love the Thanksgiving morning practices,
its becoming a tradition at West Covina too, 3 out of the last 4 years.

Has anyone really thought about that C.O. had not one impact transfer player this year from B.A. as well as anywhere else. Stop and think about that just for a minute if McBride or Wells were actually on C.O.'s team this year. L.A. unfortunately had injuries but S.H. had no excuses and still came short of a championship. What would of Glendora done with one of those athletes. Why didn't either one consider the Tartans. Second thought I won't and can't say anything about that on this blog. Anyways, before you're quick with criticism consider reality. West Covina had someone from Mater Dei this year too. Why did we never here about that athlete? Recognize and realize too if anyone is analyzing the C.O. vs. T.H. game the number of possessions were far and few between and not to reveal anything private but from what I heard there was a legit reason why again unfortunately the sophmore running back didn't get more plays and no he wasn't in trouble or serving some kind of punishment. I met the young man once after a game and was very impressed by his demeanor. From what I hear he is an outstanding kid inside and outside the classroom on and off the field! Just some thoughts. So this is me! Not CO Bro or Potato Head or any of that, this is Tony Giesegh with my original handle and may I say I have not posted here since the Glendora game at which time I wished the Glendora team best of luck.

It is extremely disturbing that so many people have such ill will towards other teams in the community. I love the rivalries, I love Friday nights and I love CO. But at the same time I certainly didn't like to see any of the valley teams go down as it means the end of another season. The older we get, the faster they seem to go.

Anyone who knows me by name knows I am "true-blue" and especially loyal the the CO coaching staff, training staff and most of the administration.

Every season for as long as I can remember, people ask "Well what are you going to do without Jeff Disney" and Josh Rangle steps in. Then "what will you do without Steve Stevenson" and Jason David comes along. And you can name em for every year all the way to Kanaan Snowden this year and next year it may be Adam, who knows. But what I do know is the coaching staff will have them ready and we will be competitive, once again. Hey I love going out on the practice feild every Thanksgiving morning, it's become a tradition. Other than LA and South Hills, not many other locals can say that.

I have no reason to blow smoke up anyones butts, but please don't associate me with negative remarks about Charter Oak or any other team in the area, that's not me.

Congrads to all the teams that did make the play-offs this season, I am sorry we all went home to soon, but theres always next year. Can' wait till it starts! Happy holidays to all and peace among men!

T Hills beat CO and thats all that matters. Bad calls, no calls, raining don't mean JACK! T Hills was the better team. OC football better than SGV football...YES! But I am a homer and will be in the stands next year and for years to come. CO had a very good year but we lost. Thats all that matters now. See you boys next year.

Dan, your assessment would make sense but if you really look at it, the rain clearly was a huge advantage for Charter Oak.

Trabuco Hills played on TURF all year...CO obviously has been playing in grass all year and has known how to play in rain obviously.Also, despite what people saw, Trabuco Hills is typically not just a striaght ahead running team.They are typically a passing and running team and it just so happened that the COACHES knew to make the adjustment to a run game more than a pass game obviously and that was decided in-game when they figured out they could not affectively do what they wanted to do in the air with the elements.

I just think Trabuco Hills was a far and away better team in all areas.Sure, they didn't have the namesake of the "Farrars" or the flashy playmaker in "Snowden".But, the team was far better coached and was just playing with more heart and fire.

I could not agree with you more! I thought the whole first half that coach was just waiting till the 3rd qtr. to bring in the two of them together, so T/O hills couldn't make the adjustments at the half.

To answer your question I don't think CO was overconfidernt or looking past T.Hills, but I do think the weather affected them more than a straight ahead running team like Trabuco.
One thing I couldnt understand about CO's coaching is why they didn't use Adam Muema in the same backfield with snowden, That kid is phenominal,& having the fresh legs and two break away threats in the same 3 back backfield in the second half would have been hard to contain. That was the difference when they played West Covina, they made that change in offense at halftime & because of that they won the game, I thought they would do it for the T.Hills game, eventually one of those guys could have broke the game open.

It about time...

if true, it will be nice to see that someone has finaly come to thier senses. I was a big proponant of having Amat play some of the local teams next year. However, while it does create a great deal of local interest, it nevertheless helps out the Amat program much more than it hurts them, auusming of course that they win these games.

With the following scheduale in mind, perhaps the results could look a great deal like this next year.

CO loss to Upland in week 1. CO beat a ranked GHS in week 3. CO tied Damien in week 4. CO lost to ranked TH in the CIF semi's.

GHS beat a ranked Eti team in week 2. GHS lost to ranked Eldo in week 5. GHS beat Damien in week 6. GHS beat a ranked Chino Hills team in week 7. GHS beat a ranked Ayala team in week 9. GHS beat a ranked Upland team in 1st round of CIF. GHS lost to CC (presently ranked FIRST in the State of Calif and THIRD in the country) in the 2nd round (Div 2) of CIF.

Comparing the two programs I agree with the number crunchers that GHS is the better team.

I agree they do hate us up here. I do believe they do know GHS is the better team they just have dirty players and foul mouth parents at every game.

I went to the CO game...Left the CO game when the fans started BOOING the refs....how embarrasing.
They get called ... (and Lou has the nerve to call it "Mysterious calls")...and they cry like babies.
That has been CO all season long...more penalties called on them than any other team...can't play dirty so they cry and say it's unfair ...even if the plays weren't called back...they never could have won the game..they know it, fans know it, coaches know it...you can't play a couple of easy teams in league then expect to win in playoffs against good teams....and as far as realigning the leagues..Lou likes winning so he'll stay in a league that doesn't challenge him......

After three days of thought (and watching La Habra man-handle CalHi Saturday) I've concluded that High School Football here in the San Gabriel Valley is totally inadequate and would like to make the following proposal: lets move the LA County line South to Orangethorpe Avenue.

I mean it does a couple of really cool things right off (besides giving LA County an immediate 250,000 uptick in rich white folks). It adds El Dorado, Esperanza, ValenciainPlacentia, Fullerton, Brea Olinda, and La Habra High Schools (plus a couple lesser lights) so we are right there when it comes to the fallsport playoffs again AND we add a couple of pretty good Baseball programs. This is what Governor Arnie calls a “ween ween sidu asian”.

If this works out maybe we can annex Knotts Berry Farm next.

Nice try, but that won't work for one main reason -- you have two seven-team league's and two eight-team league.s That would create havoc on divisional brackets because of the 50-percent rule. CIF-SS prefers the traditional 6-team leauges. They are willing to accept an occasional 7 or 8-team league in one area, but not four. I'm pretty sure if the MT. SAC region took that to the CIF-SS Council, they would order them to rework it, since with 30 schools, it should be possible to have five 6-team leagues.
Now, as one who has covered the re-leaguing process, I know it's not always possible, because of the politics involved.
Personally, I prefer leagues to be divided primarily by geography, again the politics sometimes prevent that.
But this is very good blog topic that either myself or Fred should address sometime.
Also, we are pretty much stuck with this alignment until 2010, since they re-league every four years, and the present alignment was voted on in 2005, so they won't address it again until 2009.

If you're going back to last year...fine. GHS beat you in our house (final possession), you beat us in your house (final possession). Where does that leave us. You still have to look at the "body of work", and this year it says Glendora in a close call. Upland and Damien comparisons and now you get beat soundly before you can even GET to see how bad El Do beats you. Our only other loss was to CC and well...nobody's coming close to them these days. Did ya see what they did last night to Chapperal? 68-14!? It was something like 48-7 at HALF!!! Now they play Santiago in the final, which they beat earlier 69-7!!!! Man, I wish we'd been in the other bracket. We might still be playing next week (although a slaughter on TV might not be to fun of an experience). Seriously, I think all 3 teams are clearly the top in the valley this year (and that includes the westside too). I had no problem with CO being just ahead of us until we beat Upland and then waiting to see how they did once the got to El Do. In fact Calpreps had them just slightly ahead of us the last few weeks and South Hills 3-4 points below us. I thought this was accurate. Now I think Calpreps has it right again with CO at 30.4 and us at 34.7. They now have SH moved up the 33.7...very close to us. I'm guessing Fred puts SH at #1, and I'd understand why I guess. They did handle El Do better than we did. Their schedule was not as tough, but they had a good run. I love the SH vs. GHS final game idea. I think that would be a tough, close game and would settle it for good. Great year to all 3 teams. It was fun debating (most of the time) and making our case here on the net. Good luck to all the seniors in your "next steps" in life. If that includes some football...the best to you. If not, go to school and build on the character lessons you were taught by good coaches and great teammates. God Bless.

Glendo vs. SHills?? ? what about Charter Oak, hello ? ? ?

I am the Athletic Director at El Dorado High School and I just wanted to say congratulations to an outstanding South Hills football team and staff who represented themselves and the SGV extremely well last night in the semi-final game. Both teams played hard and the game could have easily gone either way. The Huskies played a very good game on both sides of the ball and everything they showed before, during and after the game was first class. I wanted to commend the players, coaches and fans for their outstanding sportsmanship in what was a very hard-fought and emotional contest. By the way, for those fans complaining about the hometown officiating, CIF assigns the best crews from outside of the competing schools' areas. The crew we had was from the San Gabriel Valley unit, which is a neutral group. El Dorado's regular season games are officiated by the Orange County unit, while South Hills games are officiated by the Foothill-Citrus unit.

We feel fortunate to have survived in a game that could just as easily gone the other way. The effort and determination by both teams epitomized what high school athletics are about.
Great job by both schools and fans.

The people whining about the bad calls need to stop your childish complaining. A football game is anywhere from 50-80 plays and if you need to focus on 2 or 3 that didn't go your way you don't know jack about football. Good teams overcome mistakes and bad calls. The bottom line is both South Hills and Charter Oak lost and both had chances to overcome those bad calls. Excuses are like butts. Everyone has one and they usually stink!!

In the year and half that this blog has existed that is the most absurd and ridiculous post I have read and I shouldn't even be commenting back to such idiocy and stupidity. You are fool and at the very least an ignoramus! I will not whine, complain, or make excuses for our loss but will admitting comment that I feel both of those touchdowns being called back did impact the game and both incidents I felt as soon as we had a surge of momentum we went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows instantly! Both encounters were impossible to recover from and overall did dramatically affect not the outcome of the game but changed the complexity of the game. Benny Tone Deaf Charter Oak was not overconfident and was not anticipating next week but the shock and awe of the field conditions and the penalties did affect their psyche. They just seemed to be battling intangibles that they were not used to contending with besides the opponent but still we recognize and realize Trabuco clearly was the best team they played this year physically between strength and size…

Yes, the weather can have more of an effect on a team based on speed and cutting ability than a team that is big and plays straight ahead football so in the Trabuco vs. CO game the weather hurt the team but it is the playoffs and those are circumstances we can't change.

As for the flags. Yeah they can have an effect also. The face mask call was a bad call. The holding call on the Interception was a good call from what I saw.

Penalties are part of the game. We had two penalties called on us that were bad calls as well and one fumble when the player was clearly down before it was stripped but that wouldn't have been the reason for us losing if we lost.

Let me ask you this. I saw a CO team that was overconfident and possibly looking ahead to a final match against us or South Hills do you think that contributed to the loss at all?

Anyone who didn't go to the football game last night, missed one of the best games in many years!

Trabuco is the better team and no amount of complaining about what might have been is going to change that fact. The Mustangs dominated both sides of the ball and adapted to the conditions of the field. Different conditions would have not changed the outcome. Have to disagree about the weather & refs not having a bigger impact on CO than on T.Hills.
Sure both teams play in the same weather,but if one team is bigger & relies on more of a straight ahead run style behind their big men, they won't be as affected as the team that relies on their speed and cutting ability. CO loses much of that cutting ability in the mud.

As for the refs calls, I would like to see the replay of that punt return, if there was a hold
I would like to see where in the field it was commited cause if it had no effect on the play
then why take away a great effort like that.
On the other touchdown, the game of the week film shows a nice straight arm & no face mask, it was a bad call and CO should of had a TD. Losing two TD's like that takes away momentum from one team and can give the other team momentum, going into halftime having to settle for a field goal instead of a TD can have a negative effect, T.Hills clearly outplayed Charter Oak in the second half, but who knows what would have happened if the half time score was 14 to 7 for CO.

While I wasn't at the CO football game last Friday, when I read about the penalties that were questionable, it brought back memories when my son played there (98-01). Charter Oak never gets a break from the referee's. Must be something they don't like about CO. Hmmmmmmmmm, what could it be? Congrats to all the CO players on an outstanding season!

CO no complaints and excuses like Glendora fans!The reffing was calling it as it was...Yes, they did have ONE call that was terrible but other than that, the reason CO was flagged so much is because they are a CLASSLESS, UNDISCIPLINED team and they couldn't overcome their shortcomings against a better team who had to come to CO and played on TURF all year so they were at a much bigger disadvantage than CO with the Mud Bowl...CO there is no excuse, stop with these nonsense excuses.

Word has it that GHS might be repositioned in a lower division based on there decreasing student enrollment. A CIF insider claimed the upcoming realignment might see GHS as well as others in different divisions.

I didn't say that CO was bad. They were a great team but they played in the rain just like Trabuco did. The game was won in the second half.
CO was down 7 - 3 going into halftime.

The same goes for El Do. I thought the refs made two very bad calls that went against us. One on the strip of the football in the first half (I thought he was down before the ball came loose) and the other the Offensive PI call in the second half but that is football; the refs are part of the game.

South Hills was down 10 - 3 at the half and won the second half. Trabuco won the second half of the game with CO

Sure, I'm writing this from the perspective of a guy who will see his team play next Friday but does anyone on this blog think I wouldn't be saying the same thing if we had lost to South Hills?

I think if you're all being honest with yourselves, there is no "hands down" player of the year or coach of the year this season. I'll go over it with Stevie R., talk to coaches like I always do, and hopefully come up with something that is fair and deserving. But anyone coming on here saying this or that person is a lock wasn't watching football this season.

thats just my opinion, anyone would be a good choice, i saw all of them at 3 times, i think gilmore had the least help, and i think put them in each othrs spot, he would do better, but no complaint here if any of them get it, as far as bogan, its not as easy as people think to have a lot of good players and get them to gel, not easy at all.and i think you guys looked and acted like the best team in the valley, again just my opinion wich is worth nothing.as far as roman and chargers, i played at ro, coached different sports at ro,la,co,my kids graduated from la, my son coaches another sport there, and i have had 9 family members graduate from co,so the la-co,competition thing was a lot of fun over here.and yes im very good good friends with gano.

With all due respect I think many on this site rooted for CO and SH knowing that the OC was legit. Anyone with a FB IQ knew that TH and ED had more than just a "chance".

Secondly, if you don't believe that the weather conditions and the refs played a significant role in TH's win then you dont see things clearly. Any team with a lead forces the other team to change their game plan. In last year's championship game ED was definatly the better team. But this year in the semi's of both games the weather and ref's played a huge role. To say otherwise is being biased.

Maybe SH isn't that good and ED just played down to their level. La mirada put up 33 on SH's defense yet ED doesn't score offensively until the 4th qtr? hmmm....

Wow,I was at both semi-final games and I didn't see the same games you saw.

Before the semis many on this board were saying Trabuco Hills and El Do had no chance now they are formwr Div 1 and have Mater Dei transfers.

The Mater Dei transfers are two brothers Billy and Blake Henley who have lived in the school district for years and decided to leave Mater Dei and come back to their district school. Its not like they transfered from LA County or the Inland Empire.

Trabuco Hills just flat out beat Charter Oak and no amount of excuses can change that. South Hills on the other hand gave El Do the best game of the year, in fact the toughest test we've had in two years other thean Esperanza.

Be proud for your boys, they are excellent football players. For South Hills they didn't get the breaks and we did. That is playoff football.

The SGV should hold their heads high. Don't stoop to making excuses about penalties and transfers, etc.

Ok, the night before Charter Oak has two touchdowns called back and should of gone in leading 14-7 but instead is losing 7-3 and second half mysteriously gets several more holding calls to stop drives AND last night South Hills has a ball fall out of their defenders hands and into the receiver's hands for a touchdown when he was clearly out of bounds. Then they miss two field goals that should of been automatic. Either the Football Gods were not with the S.G.V. and for the O.C. or we're just damn unlucky. Both teams should be playing, could of, would of, what if, etc.

You are just playing homer.The SGV Championships over how many divisions? The only quality win was LA over Orange Lutheran. The rest of those championships were over inferior teams or lower divisions.

Shouldn't they dominate if you look at it that way Bill? Like I said, they have three times as many schools in the OC. I don't think there's any argument that the best football, best overall depth is in Orange County. But the SGV has held its own over the years. You said the football has been (bad) here for a while. I think the championships of SGV teams says otherwise.

Don't let the OC folks bother you, show some SGV class and let 'em look foolish if they wish. I can't say South Hills outplayed them, but you can't say El Dorado outplayed South Hills either. It was that kind of game.

Robledo's thoughts... SH vs. ED - Yes, you can definately hear the home town bias in you, understandably!! There were questionable calls both ways throughout the game.
SH did a good job staying ready for every play... I'm not sure how ED's defense wasn't completely EXHAUSTED since SH led possession time. Hopefully, ED's offense wakes up and gets "in sync" before the 4th quarter next week, or it will be another nail biter like tonight.
As well, since the Hawks are 12-1, hoping your reference to being 12-2 isn't an insight into next week!

Congratulations to both teams tonight. I thought South Hills played a heck of a game on defense. Coach Bogan had them ready and it was as if they knew what play we were running. Their defense frustrated our QB and forced some horrible passes. South Hills certainly deserved to win tonight. But El Do's defense played as expected. Wells is a hell of a RB and we were able to keep him in check. It was one of those victories that you cheered for a minute and then you looked across the field and felt horrible for the Huskies.

Good Luck El Do next week....Great season South Hills, you're a hell of a football team!

Mr.Robledo, you're right. Not sure what Wilson was doing for much of the game, but I have to say that South Hills was the best team El Dorado has played in two years with the exception of Esperanza. SH defense was unbelievable. Somehow, Bailey was able to get his guys to keep their composure amid the second half onslaught by SH. That game was played primarily by two of the best defenses in Southern Cal. SH's kicker was amazing too. Bad positioning on the missed FG and then ED hit them for a loss in OT, which again put the ball off to the side and about 35 yards out. Tough on the kid, but he's really really good. Anyway, congrats to SH for the incredible performance. That game was a coin flip.

I was at the CO game last night and agree CO #27 is dirty player. He had penalities called on him last night and agrued with the refs everytime.

SGValley is pathetic and is the worst area for HS sports in Southern California, period. 19 playoff teams and all are out.

Am I the only person in the world that realizes and recognizes that Trabuco Hills like Newport Harbor traded places and T.H. was Division I and was given relief and is now in Division VI and N.H. was in Division I then granted relief and back down to Division VI and now replaced T.H. in Division I again. El Dorado has always been Division VI and until last year was never very good. I am just so damn upset that the Finals are solely Orange County but regardless CONGRATULATIONS Charter Oak and South Hills for being the last two teams in the Valley. Congratulations Glendora on Corona Centennial Head Football Coach being Coach of the Year in California. Your loss versus them last guaranteed him receiving the award...

First off I need to say that South Hills played a hell of a game. They gave us all we could handle and honestly it could have gone either way.

This was the toughest game we have had to play in 4 years. Even tougher than our OT loss to Newport Harbor in 05' My hat is off to the South Hills players, coaches and fans for a great battle.

Also, thank you SGV for letting an old fart from the other side of the hill come ont your blog and feel at home.

I've seen two CO games and twice I've seen a classless team take the field.The Chargers have quickly created a name for themselves as classless, undisciplined monsters..

Take a page out of the Glendora game and straight from the horses mouth if you will:

This is the words of Brent Marteney who sat out his entire season following the Charter Oak game in which he was injured by CO's #27 on a blatant play CO has repeatedly attempted.Cutting runner's down at the knees with malicous bad intentions.
Marteney scored the Tartan's only touchdown of the first half and the kickoff of the second half, he was cut down by CO#27 and the end of the season was what ensued for young Brent.

Now, last night CO's #27 did the very exact same thing and attempted to hurt Matt Wagner of Trabuco Hills(#2).Fortunately, Wagner was only hurt for a short time and was able to return for a few plays to end the game.He was a fortunate one though and just one of many I'm sure over the years who've been cut down by CO foul play.

The team truly does have no class whatsoever and it is indisputable.

Agiurre, former amat assistant during the last championship and Carson head coach is presently an Assistant Commissioner with the CIF City Section. I know that that section has done work with our former basketball coach, who now runs the Positive Coaching Alliance down here. That may be the connection. Aguirre's son did graduate from amat as well.

MSGr would have to really open the checkbook to match an Assistant Commissioners salary.

Congrats to Trabuco Hills. The Mustangs got some early breaks and took advantage of them, that's what good teams do. Everyone at the game witnessed the one-sided officiating, but even on a dry field with no penalties T.H. would have been tough to beat. It just was'nt meant to be for our Chargers last night. Too many hurdles to jump.

Great season Chargers! Thanks for your DEDICATION and COMMITMENT. The last three years have been great. Some schools never see the playoffs let alone the semi's or the finals. This group of seniors will have some great accomplishments to build on as they prepare for their next journey in life. And to the underclassmen, go work your tail's off this winter. What I saw last night was a more physcial team on both sides of the ball.

Something to be said about being bigger, faster, stronger. Track speed isn't football, and there is more key factors in preparing for football. TH strength was the key to their success last night.

Hey CO, you had a great season. Don't hang those helmets, rather keep your heads high. Made it to the game just after half-time (checked the scoreboard before leaving and saw it was a good game at 7-3). Benny tone Deaf, I think I saw you walk by near the end of the game in that El Do hat! Anyway, I was surprised at Trabuco's ability to throw and run even in the poor conditions. Hats off to them I guess, but was hoping for an all-SGV final. You know how I feel about El Do...hoping for an SH miracle, but I'm not betting on one. To the seniors whose final game this was, remember the good moments and lock them in your mind and hearts forever (OK, yes even the win over the Tartans). Football is a sport like no other...can't play "adult league" or church rec. league like other sports. Maybe some day you'll have kids who play like many of us and you too can live vicariously through them and blog stupid stuff with other dad's and...OK, I'm getting silly. i worked in that little store for 2 years while in hs, loved every minute of it. could not believe i was getting paid to talk about sports, plus i made a whoppinn 2.25 an hour, i remember i was nervous as heck to ask for a raise, it paid off, went up to 2.50,my father knew jim chick very well as well as i did, it was a great family atmosphere there, then 25 years later my son worked for jim out at the pasadena store. another thing i remember- the girls that used to come in the ski department, whoo !!! ahh the good ol days.

Thanks Jaime, look forward to seeing you both tonight. And you're right, the muddy field will affect Charter Oak more. With Trabuco's size on the lines, it will be tough for Snowden and Co., to use their speed and get outside. Hope they're all at sporting goods stores buying spikes.

just wanted to drop by and say what an awesome job you and Steve did this week in covering the ins and outs of South Hills and Charter Oak. In depth coverage that was better than some papers' coverage of pro teams. I'm sure you guys get the occasional complaint about coverage (or lack of coverage) but no one should complain about the job you guys do. Truly awesome, guys.

To answer your question, who has the advantage in a mud bowl, I think this affects Charter Oak more than Trabuco Hills. The mud might limit some of Kanaan Snowden shiftiness, and that's would be a huge advantage for the Mustangs.

It should be a great game, nonetheless.

True, but the name suggestion was a little witty and did make me chuckle a bit.

In all reality, Dicks Sporting Goods started on the East Coast and is one of the largest in the country yet doesn't have any stores in California. So they buy off 15 stores and eliminate the competition - smart move.

Does anyone out there in Charger or Huskie land remember the single little location that Chicks started in Covina on Citrus Ave next to the Taco Bell? Then they doubled their size by opening next door, later moving into the Market, before their present location in Eastland. A GREAT story of Jim Chick starting as a single mom&pop store, and eventually becoming a SoCal Sporting Goods Empire!

Oh this really changes the complexity of this game. With all of our warm So Cal weather and no rain almost all year which team is a mudder?..time to get those 3/4 inch spikes on and get those 1/2 inch spikes off..parents get to Chicks and have your son change his spike height he will need the extra traction. Lots of turnovers and slippery footing, passing becomes a nightmere. who has the best running game will win this one....Now this is the way to watch a HS playoff game in the rain......love it!.
