« Girls Volleyball playoff schedule; Bonita last team standing, will play top-ranked Village Christian in Tuesday's semis | Main | Let's rank 'em all: Tribune Super List »

Tribskin Pick'em, your predictions and ours

Steve Ramirez and Fred J. Robledo going head-to-head throughout the season.

Records:
Robledo: Last week (17-2); Season (150-48)
Ramirez: Last week (16-3); Season (150-48)

Notes: Finally, I tied Ramirez. With one week left in the season, it's come down to Northview-Baldwin Park, the only game we picked differently this week. Steve will explain why he chose to go with Baldwin Park and not his alma mater, and I'll tell you why I'm picking Northview in an upset in this week's two-minute drill. The lunch bet includes the playoffs, but the regular season bragging rights is on the line. Last week, Steve and I both didn't believe La Puente could beat Duarte, and it happened. Congrats to the Warriors, that was a gutty performance in taking the Montview League title. I also picked Wilson to beat Los Altos and Rowland to beat Walnut, grabbing two wins on Steve who went the other way. But Steve got one back by picking Aquinas over Western Christian, and after seeing how easy Aquinas won, I'm wondering why I gave Steve that freebie. Get ready for a great final week, lots of games on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday game of the week: Charter Oak at Diamond Ranch
Friday game of the week: Baldwin Park vs. Northview at Covina District

Thursday's games
Charter Oak vs. Diamond Ranch, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Charter Oak); Ramirez (Charter Oak)
Bonita at Los Altos, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Los Altos); Ramirez (Los Altos)
Covina at San Dimas, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (San Dimas); Ramirez (San Dimas)
Chino Hills at Damien, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Chino Hills): Ramirez (Chino Hills)
Walnut at West Covina, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (West Covina); Ramirez (West Covina)
Glendora at Diamond Bar, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Glendora); Ramirez (Glendora)
South Hills at Nogales, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (South HIlls); Ramirez (South Hills)
Wilson at Rowland, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Wilson); Ramirez (Wilson)
Sierra Vista at Duarte, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Duarte); Ramirez (Duarte)

Friday's games
Baldwin Park vs. Northview at Covina District Field, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Northview); Ramirez (Baldwin Park)
El Monte at South El Monte, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (SElMonte); Ramirez (SElMonte)
Loyola at Bishop Amat, 7:30 p.m. -- Robledo (Loyola); Ramirez (Loyola)
Mountain View at Rosemead, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Rosemead); Ramirez (Rosemead)
Gabrielino at Arroyo, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Arroyo); Ramirez (Arroyo)
Azusa at La Puente, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (La Puente); Ramirez (La Puente)
Workman at Bassett, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Workman); Ramirez (Workman)
Arrowhead Christian vs. Western Christian at Arcadia, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Western Christian); Ramirez (Western Christian)

Final Thoughts: Once again, the Miramonte League heads into the final week with all five teams in the playoff hunt. It's a headache going over all the scenarios, but Wilson's alive because if Charter Oak beats Diamond Ranch and Bonita beats Los Altos, there will be a three-way tie for third between Los Altos, Diamond Ranch and Wilson, with a coin flip deciding the final entry into the Southwest playoffs. For Diamond Ranch to get in, they need a win and a Bonita win over Los Altos. For Los Altos to get in, they simply need a win over Bonita. Charter Oak and Bonita are in regardless of what happens. In the Valle Vista, Baldwin Park has clinched a share of the league title, but If Northview wins on Friday and San Dimas beats Covina, there will be a three-way tie for first, meaning coin flips will decide the order of finish into the playoffs.

DB Realist, Nice post.....I hope he does something for the underclassmen too! Those kids laid it out there this year, the JV winning 5 games this fall is the most wins ANY level has had in awhile, last year they went W4-L6.....we just gotta keep backing our kids, make sure they are seeing the big picture......

You going to any games tomorrow? I'm going to the Servite-San Clemente game, i have to work in Norwalk so my choices were limited.....

Whatever pal, and The Schwab,

Did not happen and the Amat seniors got that much desterve win and did not end up in the basement in Serra. Verti will be back. No Major players transfer out of Amat and Amat sees the playoffs next year. You guys are real sad to think we would lose to Loyola. Amat owns Loyola.

Hey, I was happy with the way the varsity played this year after what I've witnessed the past three. We actually had an offense that moved the ball. I know that Coach Martin was shocked that he inherited 3rd year varsity players (defensive backes) that didn't know what a zone or cover two defense was. He really had to start from scratch. I personally think that not giving him at least two more years to try to build his program would be idiotic. My point was that anyone who expected a return to the 90's is completely misquided. My son plays JV's as well and he'll continue to play here. No running off for greener "fields". He is a Brahma! Martinn can really help his own cause by including his JV and freshmen teams in the honors banquets. I was shocked that DB does no banquet for any non varsity sports. Makes the younger guys, who will be your program, feel really important.

Lancer2DN,
Amat loses this friday and I hope they get rid of ur boy Verti cause like him ur a Loser2DN too, lmao. Remember there loss reflects you!

Amat will lose to Loyola and finsh 2-8 on the season. Verti will probably resign because there is too much pressure. McCutcheon will hopefully take over and hire the right staff. Amat will also send at least one player this year on a D1 scholarship!

just for the record,...DB Realist is not me posting under some other name, though i hear what he's saying...

I wish we could drop in just one sport though, in Basketball we are looking good with our big men returning and a JV team who kicked everyones butts last yr....in Baseball we WILL ALWAYS be a factor...but we in a bit of a drought with football, no doubt....

I'm sure they will evaluate what worked and what needs a fixin' very thoroughly before spring, while they have these kids hit the weights till then,.....the team has improved from last yr, and there is no way they are firing Martin this yr....thats a bad rumor,......

we got knocked off our top seeded perch pretty quickly just a few yrs ago...but WHAT HAS ROCHE won with Chino Hills since he bailed? NO CIF Championships! What has DR won in their glorious 10 yrs....no CIF championship in fb, thats fer damn sure...

Its gonna be tough,..its still be gonna be ugly once in awhile, but i believe they are working the kinks with this first year program....i feel your pain too though with some of things you mentioned in your post....this years JV team was 4-1 going into league, beating Temescal Cyn and Troy.....today Glendora had us 27-13 with 5 min left in the 4th qtr, but it felt like they were up by way more (and eventually did)...this Sierra League aint no joke....WE KICKED ITS ASS for a long time,...now way we gotta make the climb back--with integrity, discipline, and heart...STAND TALL AND HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH BRAHMAS, your on the way back!!!!!!!!

rqd2626
It is in reference to what people are now saying about the transfers in their posts. There is alot of negative comments concerning those moves now that they haven't panned out like they thought they would.

amat 73
what downfall ?

Totally agree with the asian population statement. Prime example of that fact is Diamond Bar H.S. At one time in the 90's they had 9 D-1 propects on one team. They had a small dynasty. Look at them now, the program has faltered and will never get back to where it once was. Hell, they have a great band and badmitton team.....

Very interesting reading all the blogs concerning the transfers from AMAT to LA. It went from the greatest coup in high school football to now the downfall of the program in the short span of 9 weeks.

Hey, I'm a realist. Diamond Bar needs to find a new league. I know CIF keeps us in division 2 based on enrollment, but come on! We're now pushing 60% asian enrollment. Since Diamond R opened and started the recruiting factory, DB has been doomed. Now people are talking about firing the coach after one season. Vince Lombarte could rise from the grave and he would go 2-8. It's not going to get better. After watching the JV team play in the Sierra league and look at the physical size difference in the players, the number of players and weak coaching staffs for our lower levels (they try hard, but two coaches on the sideline for two JV games in a row?). Wake up people, it is not the '90s. We do have the best band, badmiton and tennis teams around. Go Brahmas!

I guess the Bishop Amat connection of Seanez,Maciel,Tillis,Tamayo,Ortiz and McBride did not pan out well for you, Los Altos. Thats what you get when you rob Peter to pay Paul, stick to your own next time and promote from within your own core of players. Going to the outside for help got you nowhere and much worse had your home grown talent sitting for these guys. Nice Job Coach. Better luck next year

Bonita 31

Los Altos 14

DSM22s,

Your living in a dream world. Los Altos is loaded with a bunch of average football players, a real weak quarterback, basicly no running game. That Wilson team doesn't have a very strong defense. And a weak offensive line. You are going to be way over matched against Bonita. Lose by 21 points. See ya next year

Amat will beat Loyola and get their only league win. It is a shame that the Serra league has only four teams, geeze add a fifth team already. Any takers? Los Altos,CO,SH,Damien,St. Paul?

sgv1 at November 6, 2007 10:12 PM

BP did not play any of the teams that you listed.

Nice try! BP will go down hard!

sgv 1,

You would have a two way tie because both teams would be 4-1. NV gets the VVL #1 seed because of the head to head, but they are co champs because they have the SAME RECORD. They will both get league championship patches on their jackets. If NV beats BP that doesn't make their loss to SD (whom BP beat) dissapear. I do agree with you however that it is likely a moot point since I believe BP and SD will win.

For example, in baseball NV and SD finished tied for first but NV won 2 out of 3 head to head. I still saw several SD guys wearing (rightly) 2007 league championship shirts around town.

"cardinal"

No Anonymous here birdie boy.

I'm just stating the soon-to-be facts of football programs on the Pomona freeway. Thanks to the buddhist temple in Hac. Hts. we have become the adopted holy land for the newly landed asian population, who now dominate the local HS populations. More asian residents = less white, and black players to be had by local schools, and their sports programs.

I've lived in the community for 40 years, and have seen it change before my eyes, and it's not finished yet...

LA will get back in it and go far in CIF...they have no earned physical wins on the field during league but cmon, there los altos, they will get fired up somehow, expecially after losing the rival game... there coming up in 2 days against bonita. They need this game more then the past games. it will be a challenge but they have kids stepping up their game and it will show against bonita.

How do you have a 2 way tie? NV won't get it done anyway. BP is the greatest program in the SGV. I would like to see them stop playing weak pre-season teams and start playing Glendora and Damien and Charter Oak and Chino hills or Ayala etc. Then we can stop the debate.

a fan at November 6, 2007 12:47 PM

As I mentioned this morning, one of the AMAT true fans would blow you up!

The bomb just went off with 18 current players

I love it when "AN INDEPENDENT FAN" comes forward with BS talk and NO FACTS..........

Thank you Joe for the list!

What "Anonymous"(whichever one he is) doesn't realize is that the college scouts that are too busy looking at "real prospects" at ND, Crespi, Orange Lutheran, Hart, Carson, or Alemany just might be at an amat game to do so. And THAT's why amats players still will get noticed and recruited

sgv1,

If NV wins and Covina wins, NV will get the VVL #1 entry in the playoffs but they will both be listed as co-champs in the VVL record books. Like Fred mentioned earlier, this is true for all leagues but the distinction is lost on most readers.

So first it was who 's playing in college, then it was who's playing DI, then who's playing big-time...and now it's" ...well they won't be sending anyone DI anytime soon"?

I'll betcha a dollar that there won't be more than a school or two that sends more players THIS year than our little 2-7 lancers will send out with DI scholarships. And we'll even spot South Hills the one scholarship that they will benefit from us enforcing our disciplinary standards.

Since we don't know who you support, I wonder how many scholarships will be given to players at
"Anonymous High School" ?

BP is going to win this friday
.....they have a lot of heart. on the field they are going their hardest, giving 100% each play even when things look bad. the players on the sidelines are still cheering and hopefull for a win even when they are down. nothing ever seems to break their spirits. ....i have also seen NVs sideline when they are down. its just a mess! when they are down, players argue amongst each other, throwing temper tantrums. it is just not pretty to look at.

Amat won't be sending any kid to D1 school anytime soon, all the college scouts are too busy looking at real prospects at ND, Crespi, Mater Dei, Servite, St Francis, Alemany, Chaminade etc.

Those years for the amat players are their High School graduating years, so the 2002 players are seniors in college. I know you don't want to debate any list that is older than that(or any list that includes NFL players) Kansas is one of only 3 undefeated DI teams in the country and Rodriguez starts at Right Tackle so he is a big part of that. That's pretty big-time if you ask me.

If you want to downplay any kid playing college athletics you are barking up the wrong tree on this blog. Any blogger here that knows anything knows how small a window a playing career is so every year, anywhere, is special. If you never played, or never played after high school - you might not realize that.
If "... wouldn't even admit you were playing on a football scholarship at those schools...." that probably means that you couldn't.

And yes "...Free school is free school..." - whether you are a football fan or not!

la football,
co allready won league!!!

Man, it must hurt really bad. Your national Pop Warner/Wilson coach lost the freshman Wilson game that meant the most to him.

I guess he forgot to wear his Superman Underoos that day!

If CO loses to DR and Bonita wins then they tie for league champs

Man, imagine what the score might have been if the QB actually completed a pass or two!?

ANON,2:49pm

It's funny because I'm sure your @ss wouldn't even be accepted to a private Univ like Redlands. "GRADES MATTER", you also couldn't afford it.

Hey JOE AMAT,

I would like to add CHARLES BROWN--USC
and TITUS JACKSON--OREGON to your list of great SGV players currently at D-1 schools.

Tartan Killer,

You're killing me! Damien to the Semi's!!!??? Now your right about our division being tough, and I said earlier that winning our league may only mean a home game against the likes of Santiago (at large, but very large) or #3 from the Southeastern league (a team rated on calpreps right about where we are). If we are fortunate, we would get the #3 from the Citrus Belt or Baseline, both of which are at about the same level as the Sierra. Still, a tough challange. You also said are non-league was a joke?!?! Ha, look at CIF rankings...Etiwanda @ #10 may be Baseline league champ & we dumped them. El Do is by far top dog in the Southwest not to mention #6 in the entire OC and #24 in LA Times poll. West Ranch had to battle in the huge league with Hart, Canyon (only lost 10-3), Valencia...and we easily handled them. CO...abviously a tough hombre. Covina's the only "softie" you can point to and they have a winning record and with a win could still make CIF. Dude, give me a team in the SGV with a tougher pre-season schedule(that actually had a winning record). I also said that if the Tarts can win a first round game, it would clearly set this Tartan team apart from other recent years...2 wins and we'd clearly be the best in the SGV (unless a local runs the table in the southwest including beating El Do...I'd have to put them side-by-side), because that would mean beating one of those top 4 teams in the division (ouch). It's a fun time of year and we should all get up for this last week and then support our area teams in CIF. Only makes us all stronger.

Notes on Amat

B&G

I am not the one who is advocating a new head coach. I stated so earlier in this blog. However, as I mentioned before, there has to be a change in the direction that this program is heading (for the short run) and two of my firm beliefs, to first, recruit, and second, to play some of the local schools. Interestingly enough, it appears as if the second part of my thought process is in fact, coming to fruition (according to Fred).

I believe that this is a step in the right direction, but they have to play more than just one game and one team. BTW, the idea that a coach needs to have 5 years to turn a program around is a College football philosophy, not a high school one. Teams can become better in two years or less. Just look at what is going on at Alemany right now.

You know, just for sh_ts and giggles, I went onto the CALPREPS web site for 2001 and looked at the Amat football teams record for that year. Do you know that they went 9-2 ? In fact, they beat Alemany 62 to 7 that year. That wasn’t all that long ago you know.

For what it’s worth, playing against ND, Crespi, Orange Lutheran, Hart, (etc) and getting slaughtered is no way to ”test yourself.” The reality is that if we had played more of a lighter schedule, (and won) then, we could have “possibly” made the playoffs this year and last, even if we had gone 1-2 in league. Just look at what happened the previous year. We beat St Paul and Charmanade and St Francis, and they all went to the playoffs while we stayed home.

Fred mentioned week 5 for next year. Anyone know the rest of the schedule for next year? Are we even in the Serra League next year?

This goes out to Anonymous who stated that LA and Wilson will soon be all Hispanic. Just in case your ignorant self is not informed, the whole state of California will soon be all Hispanic so you better live with it and keep your racist comments to yourself, ignorant idiot!

Sorry, I'm still laughing about the Iona State, St. Mary's, Whittier and Redland Colleges. Those are true POWER HOUSES!!!! NOT!!!! If that's what Bishop has to offer,, well,,,it's a sign of the times... Besides, the guy had to go back to 2002 to pull some colleges out of his hat.....I am still cracking up....great laugh...thanks

Ay Caramba,

When your up by over 30 points with less than 3 minutes left in the game and you go for 2 points that is running up the score. What is even better is the catch was good, I had the same view as the offical but for some reason he didn't give it you.

Thanks Anon, you are an open minded blogger. We all need to support the Sierra League. And yes, congrats; but first they need to beat Diamond Bar. They have not thrown in the towel yet.....

Anonymous,

You would have said Kansas last year. Now #4 in the country. Don't forget Thurmond and Wallace at Oregon.

Anon,

You are correct in saying no division is as tough as the Inland Div. Glendora, Ayala and Chino Hills/Damien will have thier hands full just making it through the first round. We are all playing in our own universe presently and, when we step out, a whole new world awaits us.
Hell, I'm am as delighted as a cows tongue on a salt lick just to be named Sierra Champions. After nearly 15 years of nada, it feels real good.

I for one, will be supporting all our CIF divison entrants with as much enthusiasm and vigor as I have supported my Tartans throughout the year.

GO Tartans
Go Ayala
Go Chino Hills/Damien

FANatic has left the blog!

I dont' think anyone is trashing the kids.. I think it is all the blogging. I would never trash a kid for playing hard and doing the best he can. Like I said before, Glendora is well coached and exemplifies true sportsmanship. They were the first team we played when both sides were helping each other off the ground after getting hit. Class team and sportsmanship. But lets get real. I wish them luck in the playoff's. I highly doubt they will win their first game.

Yeah i'm sorry... What.... Excuse me....Whittier, Redlands, Iona State,
St. Mary's, Sacramento State, Central Oklahoma, Univ. Mississippi and New Mexico State are all true POWER HOUSES. Free school is free school, but don't insult us football fans with those schools mentioned above. I wouldn't even admit I was playing on a football scholarship at those schools. Iona State, Whittier, Redlands, St. Mary's....Please!!!

Anonymous at November 6, 2007 01:29 PM

What was the score of the frosh game 32-0, 34-0? That's what you whiney wilson kitty's call "running it up"?

Get a life, and stop complaining.

In 5-15 years the LA, and wilson football demographics are going to look like Bassett, Workman, and LP.

All hispanic.

Then we can all cry in our beer, and remember the "good old days".

Like I said, If your only source for prep sports is the SGV Tribune you're in for a world of hurt come playoffs. I am not just talking about Glendora. I am talking about the whole Sierra League. Open your front door and step out some time. You're missing alot of great football games. I have seen many, and they are not from any of the teams the bloggers are talking about. Sad to be so one minded......

JOE AMAT.. you are awesome.. it gets old when people start talking smack about sgv. thanks for the list... hope "a fan" enjoys it.

Tartan Killer :
When the Tartans make the playoffs AFTER finishing up business in the Sierra we will find out who we play & where we play them .Let us ENJOY our run through the league & come playoff time we will TCB then . Until then , HIT THE BONG & mellow out dude .YOU ARE trashing our kids on EVERY THREAD ...

FIGHT ON

TM

I apologize to the old-timers that have seen this before, but for newbies that shortchange the SGV (like "a fan"). It takes more than two hands to count the amat players alone. Feel free to add to the list with those from other schools

Here is a list of amat players *presently* playing at four year universities
CESAR RODRIGUEZ 2002 UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS
WILLIAM ROBINSON 2002 SAN DIEGO STATE
LAMARR ROBINSON 2003 SACRAMENTO STATE
JOSE RODRIGUEZ 2004 UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS
JONATHAN SOTO 2004 SAN DIEGO STATE
MICHAEL COMBES 2004 UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
MATTHEW ROMINE 2004 UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS
MATTHEW RAMIREZ 2004 WHITTIER
ANTHONY HUNTLEY 2005 ALABAMA STATE
JONATHAN CORNELL 2005 UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI
BRANDON BENNETT 2005 UCLA
VINCENT FEDERICO 2005 UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO
CODY NEELY 2005 UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO
TONY VALENZUELA 2005 IONA COLLEGE
DANIEL ROBLES 2005 ST MARY'S COLLEGE

"a fan"...you were warned

...and I would say that while amat has fallen, it was only the year before last that they beat Mater Dei and the CIF Champion Loyola Cubs, while sweeping Charter Oak, Glendora, and Damien by a combined score of (come on..you know I have to) 96-16. That is a litlle more than "just competing" and it is not so distant a memory that rules out a return.

"...losing another coach..." could be looked at as a step in a positive direction rather than the negative that "a fan" presents.

tartan killer says:

'There is a good chance Glendora will get bounced in the first round, while Damien may end up in the semi's' hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

doesn't damien need to get in the playoffs first?
you won't get by chino hills the way you are playing all season. if you do get by ch, you will face a 1st place inland team, while glendora faces #3 or #4. who did you say will get bounced 1st round?

Tartan Killer. Wow. Talk about clever. Are you doing that with mirrors? Just enough to get the "faithful" angry again. Incredible. I'm impressed. Just a little info here and a little trouble there...and BANG! Instant controversy. Do me a favor...I've got enough problems. Turn out the lights when you're done.

a fan at November 6, 2007 12:56 PM

Yeah, now we had an expert on the blog from who knows where? Probably another front runner who doesn't represent any team!

Glendora will lose first round. Even though they are going to draw a third place team. That third place team could very well be Norco, Corona Santiago, Upland, Los Osos, Etiwanda not to mention a third place team from Temecula. We have a very hard conference, the best in the state. Not only will Glendora lose, so will Ayala and the winner of the Damien/Chino Hills game. Understandably, the Sierra League is the weaker of the leagues in Division 2.

Are you kidding me with this Gano stuff? Stop talking about the cheater! He recruits, he lies to those recruits and it's all come back to haunt him. We have heard it all, let's just let the players play, and the coaches coach. Most of us on here love the game at have a serious passion for our alumni, however that doesn't give us the right to say a team sucks or not. The only things that are fact are L.A. will lose vs Bonita, Glendora will lose in the first round, Morrison will be fired after the season, and Duarte needs someone who isn't a grown thug to replace him.

Gano,

Does this mean you are going to take on the Girls Softball Team now? If not you better start recruiting early. You have lots of work a head of you. Next time you grantee a kid the starting job at QB make sure he can throw the ball. I guess he is better than your freshman QB; he didn’t complete a single pass in the freshman game.

The word around the Heights is that you ran up the score on the freshman team. Was that a recruiting tactic because it sure was classless? Looks like you paid for it on Friday night, I heard that the Wilson varsity kids were real pumped up after they watched the freshman game. Well you get a whole year to think about what happen last week and how you can improve your people skills.

I got one for you. IF BP loses and Covina wins BP loses their title. You can't have a 2 way tie if one team beat the other. In other words
NV 4-1 League Champs
BP 4-1 2nd (Head to Head Loss)
Cov 3-2 3rd (Head to Head Win)

Duarte is way way way over rated. I heard that Ayala beat them 29-0 the first game of the season. Duarte only managed to get two first downs and it was against the J.V. team in the second half. By the way I heard that Ayala played their J.V. team the whold second half.

BILL,BILL,BILL. STOP LIVING IN THE PAST. THINGS CHANGE, PEOPLE CHANGE, COACHES CHANGE, TEAMS CHANGE.
THIS WARRIORS TEAM IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TEAM THAN LAST YEAR. JUST THINK WE HELD DUARTE TO 7 POINTS, A TEAM THAT AVERAGES OVER 40 PER GAME. OUR WARRIORS TEAM IS ON A ROLL, THEY HAVE TOO MUCH HEART TO BE STOPPED NOW. I'M NOT GOING TO MAKE ANY POINT PREDICTIONS, ALL I KNOW IS THE WARRIORS WILL BE UNDEFEATED IN LEAGUE GAMES.

I agree, the whole Sierra League will lose their first game of the playoffs. The teams we play against are the best in the state. The two top- five teams in the county will probably emerge from the winners of the Div 2 section. If Div. 2 doesn't get it, it will probably be Mater Dei or Orange Lutheran.

I agree that Bishop Amat is the only exception. But, where are they now. It looks like they are going to lose another coach. Most of their top players are from the Inland Empire and belong at Chino Hills, Ayala, Corona, Upland and D.R. Without them, there is no B.A.

Most of the D1 prospects come from the Trinity League, North and South Orange County, San Bernardino County, some schools from East L.A. County, and Riverside County. All of the good schools are outside of the tribunes coverage thats why those of you who read this paper know whats going on at real football schools with the toughest schdules in the country. And, that is verified on MaxPreps. Mater Dei, Mission Viejo, Corona Centennial, Norco, Temescal Valley and the leagues they represent; play the toughest schedules in the country. You can say that Bishop Amat plays a tough schedule, but the have been beaten hands down by smaller schools throughout their season. I just read these blogs because a buddy of mine told me it was comedy reading all of these comments. It's a bunch of old men who still think they are playing high school football and forgot that SGV stopped playing competitive football back in the 90's.

a fan at November 6, 2007 12:47 PM

I will leave this list for the Amat fans to come on and destory your comments. This list may be long with some in the NFL

Joe Amat just might blow you up in a nice way, or Mat, or Blu. LOL

Undisciplined thugs? Sounds a bit extreme...I think they just like hitting hard..isn't that why protective equipment is worn..after all, the whole game of football is barbarian and that's the only reason we are all fans..who doesn't like to see hard hits? Besides, the refs do call the bad plays when they throw their little yellow flags..I'm sure, who ever your team is, has never commited a questionable hit..maybe they should stick to flag football..if they are as innocent as you think they are..all season with out a flag

You guys need to take a close look at the play-off picture. There is a good chance Glendora will get bounced in the first round, while Damien may end up in the semi's Take a look at seeding and competion played. Glendora's pre-season was a joke. Even though we all know Morrison will be gone after this season (according to tons of alumni at the 5th quarter social) he will still get the Spartans further than the coach Paster-ella will. Yes, Damien will beat Chino Hills by 10 and Glendora will manage to let Diamond Bar hang around. Tartans, be ready to have your pride stepped on a bit come thursday, I have a feeling you guys are in for a rude awakening. And as for my son not being involved in the program at Damien anymore, it was my choice not his. I didn't want him to learn under Morrison. If I were coaching we would be 9-1. Hey, guess I can apply after the season. SEE YA MIGHTY MO!!!

I'm sorry, you're right... How many D1 players are represented from SGV... you only need one hand to count.

fan at November 6, 2007 12:34 PM

Yeah right. DR And Glendora are the only good teams or leagues in SGV?

Get over yourself. What a joke

Well said, the leagues that these teams are in are extremely weak and would never beat a good team. The only teams that are decent are D.R. and Glendora. The rest are poor. These bloggers need to watch some good football and stay away from the pop warner teams.

Im not a fan of the VVL that includes BP NV and SD and COVINA this is a weak league and the kids and supporters talk to much trash like if its a tuff scheduel get over it. just look at all the hits on the bloggs....

D.R. is a good team. I agree that they are their own worst enemy. They are also a bunch of undisciplined thugs and they take cheap shots anytime they think they can get away with it.

Bill,

The good thing about Azusa "smashing LP 3 years in a row" is that it was all in the past. I could tell you that this is a very different team in comparison to last year, the year before, and the year before that. I'm sure the Azusa team is different as well.

I really hope your prediction is not based on past incidents.

good match ups this week...may the best teams win! we needed a little decent excitement after a slow and boring football season in the vvl...

i hope next year is a lot better!

Azusa is gonna smash LP!!! It is not gonna be close!! They have smashed them 3 years in a row. And last year they embarresed them. It pretty much done.

Prediction

Azusa 30 LP 10

I would like to see the Panthers bounch back and stuff Charter Oak. The Oaky fans come on talking crap. we all no the okies are average at best without snouden.
panthers rule!

BP, SD, NHS, and Covina fans. Well this week should be ineteresting. I do hope BP smacks NHS around. Those guys talk too much trash and BP has done a good job. If they do win it will be because BP's line continued to smack people around.

Note: BP's Defense is good, but SD has the best defense in the league. Check the scores. Covina will be tough for the Saints this week but they will have to step up.

Easy Glendora fans, not saying SD's D is better than yours, just better than anyone in the Valley Vista right now.

See you all Sunday when we see who is in and who is out. Who got screwed and who has a cake walk.

Well here is my opinion,
I have seen several D.R. games. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing C.O. play however. I think that the Panthers are a very good team but at times they are their own worst enemy..Too many penalties..They need to minimize this problem and should have a good game..The QB is into his SR. year and I'm sure he does not want to end it with a loss.Look to him to pull this one out. I'm sure that they are well aware what this game means...I'm also sick of hearing about cheating..let's put this behind and focus on the future...Good luck to all the SGV teams!!!!! Good luck Panthers and CharterOak..D.R. +6

I have never had a problem at bp.. and yes, all teams do have comments about other teams, BUT not as bad as brave wants you to think. And you know, alot of these kids are friends. alot played football together before high school.

Anym-
Who said I was a dad? Don't always assume..You know what that makes you.

to say that bp football players don't talk mess about their opponents, is way off.

come on now, all the teams do, it's football!

i've seen it from 2 teams that come to mind, one is bp and the other nv. nv players go to other games and are so loud, obnoxious and disrespectful...and on one occasion, bp players as a visitor, were yelling nonsense to the opposing team and their parents and fans...

coaches can't do it all, it's up to the parents also.

all these vvl teams need to remember that there is no "I" in TEAM...too many players wanting to be the "STAR" nowadays.

one or two great players, doesn't make a TEAM! i think that is what is wrong with vvl teams this year.

DRANCH SURPRISES CO

DRANCH 28
CO 7

BRAVETOWN.. I do back northview but also have a heart of BP. i was actually raised in BP, so i do know there is the good and not so good. Like i said, i dont really know what the outcome will be this friday, but if you want honest, yes i will be pulling for both.

FartMan at November 6, 2007 08:14 AM

And i leave with a quote,"I am smater than you!"

smater? Yeah I can see that you're the real SMART one. How about practicing what you preach. YMCA offer, sign up yet?

KARMA, DIAMOND RANCH WILL BE KEPT OUT OF THE CIF PLAYOFFS. IT IS THEIR FATE NOT TO BE THERE DUE TO THEIR HIDEOUS INFRACTION OF THE CIF RULES.

CO with a easy victory over D'ranch

CO 31
DR 12

ANONYMOUS, JUST CURIOUS, BUT WHAT SCHOOL DO U BACK? I KNOW AT B.P. THOSE KIDS WILL ALWAYS HAVE A BAD LABEL, BUT WHAT THEY REPRESENT IS ALWAYS SOMETHING THAT NOONE OUTSIDE THE PROGRAM CAN UNDERSTAND. THESE KIDS ARE TAUGHT RESPECT, DISCIPLINE, AND TRADITION..

GO BRAVES !!!!

BRAVETOWN... i wasn't sure, BUT really did not believe he was part of the bp program. and as for the kids at BP, each and every time i have been to BP, weather it was for wrestling or football, the students and staff there have always been respectful and welcoming. Im telling you, friday is not coming fast enough... that will be a good game, and yes we know, someone has to lose. GO BRAVES AND VIKES!!

Let the game speak for itself on Thursday. It will be a good game between Charter Oak and Diamond Ranch. Both teams are hungry for a win for varies reason, however, going into the game whether you're a Diamond Ranch or Charter Oak fan, don't play them short by assuming one will over-power the other.

It will be a good game and both teams will go to work. I wouldn't be surprise if it's a tie game!

Good luck to both teams on Thursday evening.

Hey you, Fartan!
English may be your first and only language but that doesn't mean that you are good at it. Try attending the YMCA, i already told you they have a good english development course that is helpful to all, it might be too advanced for you though. And i leave with a quote,"I am smater than you!"

SAN ANTONIO LEAGUE LOCKED... NEXT PLAYOFFS, SOUTHWEST LOOK OUT...

WHOEVER THAT GUY IS, HE DOESNT REPRESENT ANYTHING B.P. IS ABOUT.I KNOW MOST OF THE KIDS AT B.P. AND SOME OF THE COACHES, AND FOR A FACT THEY WILL NEVER TALK THAT CRAP ABOUT ANY OPPONENT. THEY HAVE GOOD KIDS AND RESPECTFUL KIDS. I KNOW THERE IS ALOT OF HYPE AROUND THAT CAMPUS, BEING THAT ALL TEAMS ARE PLAYING FOR LEAGUE TITLES...

GO BRAVES !!!!

Glendora, they're a good team, but too cocky

CO FAN

co fathers are starting to wear on me. enough is enough already. co won't beat el do. if #4 doesn't play, you will lose against the ranch. we saw how you played against damien without #4. the ranchers will be ready.

Co is a 1 player team
Your right all CO only has #4 so why don't you Dr just keep watching him, Don't worry about #6,#16,#24,#15,. Oh and don't even worry about the defensive, because #4 makes the whole team. Get Real DR, with thinking like that CO will go 4-0..CO doesn't need the win to be league CHAMPs they already are, DR needs a win just to get in a coin toss..HMMM

is it true? BRAVE and SGV HOMER the same person... anyways, cant wait till friday. the BP vs NV, CANT' WAIT!! i hear that the BP fresh and BP jv against nv will also be good games.

WOW!!! A little shocked on how much trash talking the BP players are doing. Better take care of business boys.

BP Fan,

I Agree with you! BP is the best team around, and Northview has been way over-rated. Northview will lose big. I talked to some of the BP players and they're not worried. They said #7 drops half of the passes thrown to him. #4 is a little sh*t. #44 is ok, but too slow, and #16 flat out sucks! Coaches have these kids playing very well, and I expect nothing will change Friday night. See you at the game.

first of all Go Tartans.....get one thing straight....jay leno sucks....his not even funny....conan's way funnier....but its all reruns till the strikes over......damn it....2nd of all....we get it....all hail mighty glendora.....winners of the glendora league of the glendora division.....gosh, dude just chill

FatMan

"Well forget you division take that"

Did you learn this great sentence structure from the YMCA? Maybe, it’s not that great of a program! LOL

English is the first language here in Glendora. LOL

Next? But hurry I'm watching Jay

Are you a tart? You are the one who needs English lessons. Remember my offer of you attending the YMCA. My offer is still up. Its a good program. So? how do wind up throwing what i threw at you? You dirty filthy gargoyle. Shut up. Yeah we get it The VVL sucks. Sorry high division... Well forget you division! take that

yea....u tell me The OC!!!!!!!!!....
personally i dont like the show but yea....

This is your brother from BP LOL
"top defense in the valley! they're going to playoffs for the 3rd year in a row and they still dont get any respect!!!!

I guess you can't read the stats, because your not the best defense in the VVL. Better come over to Glendora for reading lessons LOL

Next?

*MATH ERROR**ENGLISH ERROR*
hahaha

Go Baldwin PArk!

I predict that:

Ur Worst Knightmare (ha) will still be in hiding after talking all that smack and then losing 2 straight games to the South and especially THE 'MEAD!!

FEAR THE MEAD!!!! WAR PANTHERS!!!!

Go Tartans at November 5, 2007 11:26 PM

buddy, i never said we had the best defense in the valley....i said we have the most heart.....got that douchebag

Go Tartans at November 5, 2007 11:26 PM

Yeah, buddy who invited you into our conversation. That one guy and i never claimed to have the best defense in all of th SGV. We are taking about the Valle Vista League. Talking to a Northview guy. But apparently you cant read. Thats why they posted Valle Vista League stats. What are the English classes at Glendora so poor? I can't believe you can write. Yeah so they are offering some english development classes at the YMCA, maybe you should attend. One final word to you Tart, "I AM SMARTER THAN YOU!"

Fat Man and Thatonegay guy

Don't claim to be the best defense, best team or best team in the SGV. It simply is a laughable joke in the SGV. There's one thing you're #1 in... A big mouth full of s---.

Who Cares

Thanks for the info.

I hope that is true about Zamano, I hope that he starts. Won't happen, but I hope.

Anonymous at November 5, 2007 10:44 PM

Apparently Anonymous is going to project the winners... no he is not going to predict the outcome but merely project it. You chose to project Northview. Hahahahhahah.

English Errors... you gots love them!

*ENGLISH ERROR*

Upcoming Games
Thu 11/08 Covina (CA) at San Dimas (CA), 7:00pm
projection: San Dimas (CA) 38-21
Fri 11/09 Northview (Covina, CA) vs Baldwin Park (CA) at Covina District Stadium (Covina, CA), 7:00pm
projection: Northview (Covina, CA) 17-16
Fri 11/09 Pomona (CA) at Ganesha (Pomona, CA), 7:00pm
projection: Pomona (CA) 42-

WHO RULES? You run off stats? Who cares about stats! Honestly! Its all about commitment and heart. But i guess northview wins football games by stats alone... right. Baldwin Park is a better team. We have agile backs/receivers. We also have the most physical D-line and O-Line. Okay our D and O is amazing all around. Our players have heart and do not care about stats they care about winning football games. But Northview cares about stats and thats why they only put up 3 points on San Dimas. Thats not a very good statement when you say NV has the best O. We will settle this on Friday. Baldwin PArk will Finish you. And After the game we will finish with class. Good luck in playoffs. And we wont forget to smile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(After we demolish you!!!!!!!!!)

:D

Anonymous at November 5, 2007 10:37 PM

SaintsR4real

Posted by: WHO RULES? at November 5, 2007 09:49 PM

WHO CARES?

Thank you for taking the time to break it down for these Morons! It's easy to talk trash because it doesn't take any effort.

Enough trash, spend your time supporting your team with words of encouragement......

Covina vs. San Dimas will be a good game!
Colts 17...........Saints 42

Baldwin Park vs. Northview will be a great game!
Braves 17.........Vikings 24

hey um WHO RULES? shut up for a minute yea....thanks

anyways.....buudy, its not all about stats in football....i know at northview it might not be their forte but its all heart.....its all about who wants it more......heart is what runs the football machine at bp......not meaningless stats....
