breaking news

All kidding aside, good luck tonight. Wish you guys were playing CC and not us.

if you dont see the connection than i really cant help you bro

breaking news

What are those scores suppose to mean?

There is absolutely no connection or common opponents. Glendora never played DR. How do you extrapolate one team is better than the other from this crap.

The common opponents posted by "can't believe my eyes at November 22, 2007 11:40 AM" are way more meaningful in establishing the dominate team.
Can't believe my eyes at November 22, 2007 11:40 AM

Lucky pass over the corner.

The receiver was 20 yards beyond your slow corner. As Chick used to say "fated out of the popcorn machine"

you guys learned alot about trick plays that night. Pasqy is using them now!

Plaid Lad,

I agree, this blog has gone south thanks to a couple of idiots.

Good luck GHS and remember this. "Life's battles don't always go to the biggest, strongest or fastest. Sooner or later, those who win are those who THINK they can."

GO CO!

Its game day and its 6am sitting on a bench in the freaking mall waiting for my wife to come out of Victorias secret. That's the only good news!

Go Tartans

FANatic.... Excited for the big game and what's in the wifes bag!

For God sake, why do you banter and argue over a game that occurred on Sept 21, 2007. GHS and CO, have huge hurdles to clear today and that should be the ONLY competition of concern. For the good of both programs is it possible to stay FOCUSSED for the sake of inspiring our programs. Do you register words of encouragement?

FYI: Best of luck too all.

PLAID LAD

Your showing your low IQ with responses like that big guy!

That's the point. You can't judge a team by one game!

Breaking News,

Charter Choke's team last year was better than this years and Glendora Defense absolutely destroyed them.

This years Glendora team is better than last years that just shows that the better team is not always shown by 1 single game match up. Teams are off some days and others or on in others. Just so happens that Glendora had an off game against charter oak....its obvious Glendora is better you guys got SHUT out by upland and you tied Damien We beat damien 35-14 with our reserves in in the last quarter

CHARTER CHOKE JUST GOT A LUCKY PASS OVER THE CORNER! YOU WILL GET WHATS COMING TO YOU CO

F U C K CHARTER OAK!!!! LOOK AT THE IQ OF THE KIDS THAT ATTEND THE SCHOOL! THEY ARE COMPLETE DUMB A S S E S!!!

this guy below me has the i.q. of a fence..how can glendora be better than charter oak when they BEAT THEM hello....i think you just need to get over it and i hope glendora gains a couple yards against corona..latessssss

breaking news

I don't quite understand you. Using CO logic, Upland beat CO, therefore, Upland is the better team. Glendora beat upland (after Upland improved from the CO game), therefore Glendora is better. CO ties Damien, therefore both are equal. Glendora beats Damien, therefore Glendora is better.

No matter how you look at it, Glendora is better than CO.

Breaking news, time to get over it and eat your turkey. Good luck against West Covina. I predict it will be the end of the road for your Chargers.

Good year though. Better to end it now, before you get creamed by El Do!

one thing the upland game did show was that co has a way better defense then glendora...

upland didnt have a first down till midway through the 3rd quarter...there 2 touchdowns were a botched punt that turned into a 10 yrd return for a touchdown and a interception that was returned to the 5...

you can throw scores at me all day long though all that matters is co took care of business aginst the mighty mighty tartans...on your best year you couldnt beat CO and thats killing you right now

all those other scores dont even matter the 3 goals were...beat glendora...win leaguge...win cif

how you can put a team down that beat you ill never understand

final score CO 13 the best glendora team in 20 years 7

happy thanksgiving =)

Beep Beep Dan

don't think so bro. you need to open your eyes.

have a beep beep thanksgiving anyway

Miramonte coach, SH lost to La Habra not a healthy Los Altos. SH beat Los Altos BTW.

Coronal Centennial 46 Glendora 7

Wow, Glendora still bitter! The only one bring up the C/O win is Glendora! Have a good Turkey all.
beep beep

BOLD PREDICTION

GLENDORA WILL UPSET CC TOMORROW AND THERE WILL BE A SHORTAGE OF CROW AT THE LOCAL GROCERY STORE.

CO King of Spin, Hahahaha, CO Bro = Tony G

How much is lou and the boys paying u to be the town jester?

Charter oak 0 Upland 14
Charter oak 14 Damien 14

Glendora 29 Upland 28
Glendora 35 Damien 14

Need more?

Charter oak 24 Claremont 18 (against the inland worst team)
Charter oak 28 Bonita 14 (whoooooa close game against a REAL POWERHOUSE)

At this point in the playoffs every team has outstanding skill players. But if you want to play in December, it will be the teams who play stingy on defense " Give them nothing... take from them everything."

6 points, trick play, last 22 seconds, Tartan DB drops coverage, ONE PLAY ONLY, CO knocks out Tartan leading rusher in 3rd qtr = Charter Oak the better team?

You guys really play this slim win to the max. Get over it! No one else thinks it was such a big win other then you.

Upland shuting you out. Now thats a big win!

breaking news

Upland 14 Charter Oak 0

Glendora BEATS Upland late in the season when ALL teams are at their BEST!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

charter oak 13 glendora 7...

I would vote for Snowden as Player of the Year. No other player this year has had as much impact for one team.

Without Snowden, Charter Oak is nothing. We saw this against Damien (3rd place team in SL). There's your proof.

Anonymous at November 22, 2007 10:05 AM

No one said Glendora was a powerhouse because they are playing one. Haters from the Miramonte continue to compare how Glendora may be out after tomorrow and how CO and others will be left standing. The comment was if CO played Glendora's CIF schedule they probably wouldn't have made it through the first round with Upland. I don't want to hear how "CO has improved since the Upland game. Glendora has gone undefeated since the CO game as well. Maybe Glendora has also improved since CO's narrow victory.

The point is this may very well be the Tartans last game and CO may very well advance. But it won't be because CO is a better team. It will be because of the caliber of opponents each team will be playing. Thats all.

Glendora Poster: Anonymous at November 22, 2007 9:46 AM

Hate to bust your bubble, but Sh, TH, Foothill would beat you too! We all know that EL D and CO beat you and that slim margin, we'll it resulted in little Pasqy walking next year. "Oh they play dirty" so we don't want to re-schedule them. What a real P----.

Soft Coaches

Anonymous @ 7:11

No one said the Southwest Division was tougher than the Inland Division. I did mention that GHS (and for that matter the Sierra League) would fall hard in the Southwest. Believe what you will, but compare the head to head match-ups this year with just the Miramonte.
The Inland powers you mentioned would roll through the Miramonte no doubt, but just because you play a powerhouse does not make you one! If you need proof,( see West Co vs. Mater Dei, or CO vs. Amat last year) there are many examples.
I root for all SGV teams when playing outside the valley, but our small rivalries will always exsist.

Anonymous at November 22, 2007 9:36 AM

The only Southwest power house is El Do. Charter Oak would be competitive in the sierra league.

Again, your very slim win against Glendora, was a win, but could hardly say it proved one team is dominate over the other. you couldn't beat Damien and probably not Ayala. So where does that leave you?

Not one team in the inland div had as easy schedule as co will have in CIF. Enjoy your first few rounds, EL DO will east you up alive.

Anonymous at November 22, 2007 7:11 AM

Maybe the teams in the Inland Division from Sierra League shouldn't be there, because not one team beat the teams you mentioned in the Southwest!

You glendora honks are hilarious. The tartans are going down and going down hard.

Glendora vs. CC

To borrow the words of others...our plaid crew need to bring their "A" game to establish their own pace against a quick and powerful CC team.

The game will rest on certain factors that I believe the Tartans can control to corner a win.

First and foremost, GHS must eliminate costly penalties, that have the ability to derail any forward progress.

Secondly, GHS's "O-line" will carry the load upon establishing the success of our running & passing game. So, executing on the snap by maintaining contact and drive from each lineman will be essential and critical.

Thirdly, GHS's "D" will need to "set & settle" their footing on their ability to wrap and drive on each of their opponents, when stopping on the tackle.

Fourthly, GHS's Special Teams must place the ball on the exchange in the best possible field position to close on any open lanes and break-outs.

With a well scripted game-plan by Coach P and Coach Styker...and their ability to adjust when needed, our team will be ready to "leave it all on the field" come Friday night.

FYI: GHS peps...make NO EXCUSES...To be the BEST, we will play like the BEST, and live with the outcome of our team efforts.

PLAID LAD (Happy Thanksgiving to all!)

Sounds like for all the ribbing MTC took from certain bloggers about the offensive line and their "footwork" the two minute drill sure took notice of the O-line and how explosive they can be.It truly is all about footwork.

LOVE THE GAME!

Are you still upset about a week 1 game? come on, its second round of the playoffs!

BTW, when was the last time Covina beat Glendora?

Last year was the best team you have had in a very long time and still lost to the Tartans. Maybe next year will be your year.

if the tartans are lucky enough to upset cc, imagine how that would effect the national rankings. it would send shock waves throughout cif and make national news. this would put sgv on the map for years to come.

go tartans! tomorrow magic will happen.

ANYONE WHO THINKS THE SOUTHWEST IS TOUGHER THAN THE INLAND DIVISION NEEDS TO THINK TWICE.

STATE RANKING:

INLAND DIV
CORONA CENTENNIAL #3
REDLANDS EAST VALLEY #8
VISTA MURRIETA #16
NORCO #33

SOUTHWEST DIV
EL DORADO #37
CHARTER OAK #78

SOUTHWEST IS A WALK IN THE PARK COMPARED TO INLAND.

biggest upset of the year! glendora beats cc! it happened last year and it can happen again. lets go tartans! we are with you all the way!!!

lets go glendora! beat cc!!!!!!

anonymous im sorry but if your lookin for the best line backers in the valley look at Sd those boys are real deal not sayin there bad those withems boys are just better all around

Good luck WEST COVINA !! HEY! THATS WHY WE PLAY THE GAME!! . All the preassure is on Chater Oak
CO has to WIN with there window of oppertunity closing ,,graduating 30 something seniors,

It should be interesting, if West Covina keeps it close in the first half,, I see and upset..GO BULLDOGS

and as for South Hills if Foothill shuts down Wells,, you can say good night. ( SHSS!! A Little Secret, Don't tell anybody),,,South hills does not like physical football.

Huskie pride your confused,
Vanner didn't write that post, the person writing the post is at the bottom of the post not above it. Vanner is one of your fellow huskie fans. Your turning on one of your own.

sure I'm going to the glendora game, not to see if glendora can pull this one off , but to see how they feel after CC puts up 56 pts on that defence, heck they just might feel like those rebuilding covina colts in week 2,yes I'm a covina die hard and I will drive to timbuktoo to see it happen .I hope you find out what it's like to have the score ran up on you .

glendora tartens =14
corona C.........=56

GO, steven g. chad y. and mickie best linebackers in the san gabriel valley and kick cc blank.

Wow Vanner r u stupid Foothill lost to Trabuco Hills 22-18 and South Hills lost a close game to Trabuco that was really the Huskies early struggle the lost to a very impressive La Habra team that was only winning 13-6 at half so yeah get ur story straight they handled los altos and could have been really ugly but Bogan stopped the bleading haha stop copying and pasting stuff off of google

I hope the Tribune game of the week has plenty of video coverage for those of us who can't get to the game at Thyberg Field. Im expecting a much closer game this time around. Good Luck to West Covina Bulldogs and Charter Oak Chargers ! May the Best team win.

Here are Layton's pics from the LA Times.
The Southwest Division is now beginning to heat up! Maybe it is just the Foothill vs. South Hills game that has me excited, but I can’t wait until Friday night. Here are my predictions for this week and understand that sometimes I can be a San Gabriel Valley Homer.

El Dorado will beat El Torro. Last year El Dorado beat El Torro in the playoffs 31-7. Even though it was a year ago, that game will still be fresh on players and coaches minds. This is a slight mental advantage. Jai Morris of El Torro has put up great numbers this season, but the El Dorado Defense is only giving up 8 points a game on average. El Dorado is 24-2 in the last two seasons and was at Diamond Ranch games early this season doing their jobs scouting teams for playoffs. I am sure they have a great game plan for El Torro and the rest of their opponents through the CIF Championship.

Charter Oak will beat West Covina again. A good local game for the San Gabriel Valley, but expect the same victor. Earlier in the season West Covina loss to Charter Oak 28-55. West Covina has improved since their first match up, but unfortunately for Bulldog fans, so have the Chargers. West Covina has given up on average 26 points a game and has scored on average 27 points. Charter Oak on average has beaten opponents by 20 points. Even more impressive is the Chargers have averaged 45 points per game and given up on average only 13 points per game in their last six contests. West Covina loss to Ayala, Ayala loss to an injured Diamond Ranch team, and Charter Oak (forgive me Panthers) crushed a physically healthy Diamond Ranch team. I recently sat down and ate with the Charger staff and felt like I was at a Farrar Family Reunion. Big Lou’s son is the OC and players who grew up, lived by, are friends of, and graduated from Charter Oak make up the remaining staff. This group of men can reminisce about the glory days of the past and celebrate their greatness of the present. This is a great staff and I wish them the best of luck. Two last comments on Charter Oak: 1) Congratulations on the baby girl Domonic. As a father I enjoy the relationship I have with my children and know the pleasures of having family with you during the football season. My daughter is the water girl and for Homecoming she changed into her dress for the halftime presentation and went back to getting water for the players in the third quarter. I am sure you daughter is going to be a sports fan too.
2) I might like your staff, enjoy our conversations together, and cheer for you this playoff season, but you know me, next year, when it is game time, I will have my team ready to beat you!  LOL Good Luck Gentlemen!

As a Miramonte League coach I hope I am wrong again, but I think Trabuco Hills will beat Wilson. Gilmore is a talented RB and should be considered for All San Gabriel Valley, but can he and his Wildcats pull off back to back upsets. Trabuco Hills beat a good South Hills team early in the season and has playoff experience. The last 3 games they are averaging 42 points and only giving up 6. Twelve different players have scored and they have a 1000 yard rusher in Matt Wagner. I like the way Head Coach Robert Oviedo has put Gilmore in the right places to make the big plays and would love for him to have a big game and open up the discussions again about SGV Player of the Year. Unfortunately, I think the Cinderella story ends this week. Good luck Wildcats!

On SportsceneTV.net I picked South Hills to beat Foothill, but I am most worried of this game. Both teams are 9-2 with talented players. At 6’ 215 lbs. Mike Camacho of Foothill has rushed for over 1000 yards and 17 touchdowns this season. Last week he had 254 yards and 4 TD’s. QB Chad Miller (6’6” 190) is also a threat and has rushed for over 700 yards and 14 TD’s. South Hills has a 9 game win streak and a 5 game win streak at home. South Hills lost two close games early in the season to a healthy Los Altos (who, if healthy would still be playing) and Trabuco Hills. Early South Hills looked out of sync, but have since found their rhythm. Foothill beat Trabuco Hills 35-24. So what advantage does South Hills have? South Hill is +19 in turnover ratio. They have blocked two punts and they are in front of their home crowd. I was concerned about the lack of “big games” (the last two were West Covina on November 1st and Los Altos back in October), but every playoff game is a “big game.” I am concerned with the South Hills Rush Defense, and my pick, but I will remain true. I am not 100% sold on my pick, so I am going with my loyalty.

Steve, Fred and Big Reg are not the only making predictions this playoff season.

Diamond Bar coach Roddy Layton is doing the same on the LA Times blog as well. But I'm confused, doesn't the coach of the best team in SGV have better things to do...oh, wait...no he doesn't. Ha ha.

For whatever is worth, Layton thinks El Dorado, Charter Oak, Trabuco Hills and South Hills are going to win.

And Fred, don't pay any attention to that first poster. What you guys do is GREAT and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

That fool is a pendejo (and yes, that's how it's spelled in TJ). I mean, did he really just compared the paper to NBC and ESPN? What a baboso!

My "Crazy" Predictions:

Southwest Division
Charter Oak loses to West Covina 28-17
Trabuco Hills beats Wilson 49-7
Foothill loses to South Hills 14-7

Southeast Division
South El Monte loses to California 28-14

Inland Division
Glendora beats Corona Centennial in a great upset 21-14

You don't like my "crazy" predictions? Come Friday night see how many I got right!

GO SEM EAGLES !!!

GO GLENDORA TARTANS !!!

GO TROJANS !!!

FIGHT ON

TM

VAN HALEN ROCKED !!!

Well I believe we do have other weapons; Deen, Heard, Kuklinski, Parham, Galaster, De Lafuente, Goss ( The Professor) and of course Ernest.
BTW, haven't teams been gunning to shut down Wells all season ? This is a multi dimensional team, take away one weapon and we kill ya with another.

I think SH can win this game, but they better use other weapons other than Wells. Foothill knows all about Wells and is coming to shut him down and make the other players try to beat them. I see So. Hills Winning a close one..maybe OT here.

ayala had us down 14 nothing then we came back they didnt score again???

ayala had us down 14 nothing then we came back they did score again???

I absolutely agree that The Huskies need a break out win going away. They are capable if they limit the penalties that have kept lessor teams close. I have seen Foothill on tape and they just dont seem to be at the level of South Hills, They played Trabuco Hills late in the season and lost a close one to them. I bet if the Huskies played T.H. again we would destroy them. The Huskies that lost those two games this season were completely disfunctional from the coaching staff down to the kickers ! Frankenstein was finally assembled in week three and is on a mission.

LET'S NOT FORGET THE OTHER BOYS THAT ARE NOT HENRY AND KEN'S GROUP! GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TARTAN PLAYERS!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BELEIVE AND THINGS HAPPEN.

fred and steve you guys have made high school football in the SGV more fun keep up the good work I cant wait to see what you guys do next year

HUH? covina district field? West Covina hosts Charter Oak at Thyberg Field.
GO BULLDOGS!!!

It's all going to get down to MISTAKE FREE FOOTBALL for the Tartans. We can not hand the Huskies any down field opportunities. Coverages will need to be much tighter then games of the past.

I want nothing more then to see the upset of the century this Friday. But if the boys play well with all their heart and spirt and still are unable to overtake the state's #2 team, then I will be content in knowing this group of boys who have played together so long, will have had an incredible run going out in a blaze of glory!

GOOD LUCK TO HENRY'S AND KEN'S GROUP! IT's IN YOUR HANDS COACH P. LET'S DO IT!

FANatic has left the Blog!

TT,
Ditto.
Good Luck Tartans

I am heading to the CC/Glendora game. Looking forward to seeing the two guys on their way to A State.

I think the team speed is whats going to do Glendora in. But you never know, s--- happens!

Good Luck

Jerk! If you're gonna blast someone's job, have the cojones (is that how they spell it in TJ?) to use your name, Mr. (or Ms.) Anony. What do YOU do for a living so that I can come down and see just HOW WELL you do your job.

Fred, Steve & Big Reg, thanks again for your coverage this year. Regardless what happens to our boys Friday night, it's been a great season and you and this blog and the 2-mins. and all have helped make it that much more interesting. As for analyzing this game, it's tuff to state anything but the obvious: It will be a minor miracle, but those kind of miracles can and do happen. We'd love nothing more than to see the guys pull this off, but anyone who would have to put even $$ on this one would be a fool to do other than go with CC. We know that...we get that...our boys can let it all hang out and let the chips fall. See ya at the game Steve.

Sorry, we can't afford the expensive ex-athletes, your stuck with us. But you're welcome to join us. We'd love to have an expert on the panel.

Oh my God......I have heard better analysis from my six year old. Steve Ramirez: "you have to limit their possessions." REALLY? Where was this show taped? Tijuana? I'm sure players who bust their ass every day are really going to be pumped up by Danny Devito.....errrrr....coach Robledo's pep talk about going in with a positive attitude. Maybe once you can get someone to state an opinion that has been there and done that. Watch fox, espn, nbc and cbs are all are dominated by ex-athletes BECAUSE they've actually played.
