Will it be Charter Oak-South Hills? Or will the O.C. spoil it ...

Rivalry brewing between SGV and O.C.
OC Register on El Dorado-Charter Oak
Best comment from OC's Adam Maya: "Devin Deleon leads a consistent running game, Kane Wilson runs the offense well, and that defensive line is nasty. I don’t see this team losing."
OC Register on Trabuco Hills -Charter Oak
Best Comment from OC's Artie Casas: "Momentum is such an X-factor in football. I have to give the edge to a battle-tested Trabuco Hills team that seems to be peaking at the right time. I like the Mustangs to control the tempo of the game with their running attack and edge out Charter Oak to avenge last year’s playoff loss — 24-17."

Anonymass(whichever one you are),
1/2 their size?
FYI
School Enrollments:
Miramonte League
Diamond Ranch 1847
Bonita 1861
Los Altos 2062
Wilson 1878
Charter Oak 2136
a 200-300 student difference out of 2,000 is not really significant in football, given the male/female ratios, special programs, etc
Other Final Four Teams:
South Hills 2089
Trabuco Hills 3104
El Dorado 2475
so the OC schools were actually bigger, with Trabuco Hills having nearly 1,000 more students than CO
Posted by: Joe Amat | December 2, 2007 10:45 AM
im saying the schools co beats are small schools like in league and wht not...half their pop. and they think theyre so good untill they play a school with a pop equal or bigger than them and then you see their true talent...wht talent? 27-3. exactly, tht talent
Posted by: Anonymous | December 2, 2007 12:17 AM
Huskie Fan I'm glad your not a West Covina fan cause you suck, with fans like you I feel sorry
for the South Hills coaches, do you have any clue
how good this team is that you almost beat?

El darrodo great game you played well hopfully we meet agian next season . You guys played with class good luck next round . Im sure we had you a bit nervous but you won . Huskies great job . Bogan your still an iddiot..... i think you should let smitty take over next season .. Or even chris rix if he wants the job because you suck... whats your excuse this time you had them beat & you chocked you fool...
Posted by: huskie fan | December 1, 2007 11:17 PM
Hey bogan ur an idiot!!!! 3rd in 1 backed up on your side of the feild & you call a pass play that gets picked off for a TD... and why didnt you have your receiver line that ball up betwen the hash marks for that feild goal? He had that oppertunity to do so .... your coaching lost that game for all of us you fool.. Make sure you take the coaches from el darrado out for a drink youve already bent over for them . Why dont you admitt that you just dont know how to coach in a big game. Thanks coach from everyone in the sgv. Sorry boys you didnt loss that game your coach bogan did.. Damn bogan your such an iddiot sorry huskies.

I was sad to read that the Huskies went down in defeat to El Dorado, but that doesn't take away from a fantastic season. Fans in the SGV should be proud of this team, which started slow but caught fire. I had the privilege to watch and have reported on two of the Huskies' game from Covina District field this season and the team was impressive. Great year and my congratulations go out to the coaches and the players!
Posted by: Ariel | December 1, 2007 9:42 PM
Phillip, explain you idiot, CO is smaller!
Posted by: Anonymous | December 1, 2007 6:37 PM
Nice try SGV. It's great to root for the home team but you just need to look alittle closer at the visitors defensive stats
Posted by: Disney | December 1, 2007 4:14 AM
you also hav to think, co is not a good team at all when it come to competetion..think about it. for a school with a population like cos, and for it to be in the same division as schools half its population is pretty pathetic so when you see co play teams like T.H, glendora, which were schools equal to them, they fall to the ground. bottom line c.o is a disappointment for losing in such a low division.
Posted by: Phillip | November 30, 2007 10:51 PM
lets go south hills!
Posted by: Anonymous | November 30, 2007 9:58 PM
I like S. Hills Player's comment. It's unfortunate, really, that schools have to be misrepresented by a select few who act out of hand on the internet. Final- Trabuco Hills 27 Charter Oak 3
Good luck to both South Hills and El Dorado, and I look forward to a great game tomorrow.

I would get there when gates open @ 6, It' usually a packed house. for you T Hills fans, get there as early as you can, there is limited visitor seating and many will have to stand at the fence.
Posted by: CO Bro | November 30, 2007 9:56 AM
Grave,
G-PA was short for GRANDPA not GPA. Good luck to the GREEN and GOLD on Saturday.
Football Jones,
The CO side starts to fill up pretty fast at about 6:00. The visitor stands are even smaller so an early arrival is recommended.
Posted by: JFR | November 30, 2007 5:51 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't SH 10-2? And who were those 2 losses to? Oh yeah, Trabuco Hills and La Habra, both OC teams. El Do is a much better team than both those teams. SH is in for an old fashioned butt kicking.
Final is El Do and Charter Oak with El Do repeating as champions.

JFR let's not talk about language because in several of your exchanges with me you used words to express yourself that have absolutely nothing to do with GPA. No need to be condescending nor coy. I've made my rub perfectly clear with you, point taken.
Posted by: Gravedigger | November 29, 2007 7:30 PM
Grave,
I've never heard a G-PA use the words freaking, cuz and da. My family also comes from the center of our great country, MIZZ & ARK. You say you are loyal to only one, but yet because of family you have multiple team favorites?
Posted by: JFR | November 29, 2007 6:58 PM
To set the record straight, Charter Oak's last CIF-SS divisional title was in 2001. The Chargers beat Los Altos, 7-6 to take the D-VII title,
Posted by: sramirez | November 29, 2007 5:53 PM
JFR (Just Freaking Run) There you again straddling the fence so not to offend. My grandson played for SH's last Championship team and I was sure glad he and my daughter had the opportunity that availed me. I was born and raised smack dab in the middle of this great country. Came from a small town that lived and breath high school football. Moving to SoCal was a eye opener to play college ball. Where I came from we never wavered in the support of our program. To this day the fans back home remain just as loyal, and this where you and I will always differ.
Posted by: Gravedigger | November 29, 2007 5:33 PM
Grave,
I am a proud dog who played during the Nemzek era. I even played under coach Bogan his first year as a DB coach after he left St. Francis, "good move" right about now. I have loyalties at CO therefore they are my team. If I were to be 18 again SH would be my team.
Posted by: JFR | November 29, 2007 5:15 PM
I hope the SGV rolls this wekend, I now live out in the OC and from what I seen this year teams from the OC don't hit and play like their playing flag football. CO and South Hills knock these guys a few times and they will crawl back to the OC and lick their wounds.
Posted by: FOOTBALLWRITER | November 29, 2007 4:48 PM
JFR (Just Freaking Run)if you are a Huskie Graduate then act like one. Your innuendo of being a CO fan and now a PROUD SH graduate make you an easy target. Can't have it both ways JFR, cuz at this point there is to much at stake.
Huskies demolish da'house!
Posted by: Gravedigger | November 29, 2007 4:21 PM
Grave,
Please give me a hint as to who I might be. I also don't recall any "knowledge" you handed down to us less fortunate. Forgive me, I am a SH graduate.
Posted by: JFR | November 29, 2007 4:03 PM
I'm an El Dorado fan, and I really enjoy reading the comments here. I respect SGV football and it's history, so please don't bash me :D Anyways, I'd love to see an ED-TH finals matchup, but just like BTD, I'd also enjoy ED-CO. My predictions:
ED 21 SH 17
TH 20 CO 19
I looked at the Trabuco-Charter Oak game a little closer, and it's really a toss-up. As for the ElDo-South Hills game, their scores against a common opponent:
ED 37 Fullerton 0 (subs came in during the third quarter)
SH 28 Fullerton 7
ED has faced several top backs, including the OC rushing yards leader, and held them very well. Either way, I look forward to an exciting game and hope for no injuries.

JFR (Just Freaking Run) your response to my last post was classic and put things into prospective for those that follow your weak threads. Chalk the field? Occupying a seat in the stands? and Slapping high five's? does not make you Pete Carroll. So, before you spout about your scheming football knowledge, know and recognize this pom-pom dad, there are several on this website that have forgotten more football then people like you could ever remember. Now, in your next response to me, remember to be "caring, helpful, honest, loyal, respectful, and trustworthy." Actually, those words best describe an old Rambler not a Football Nostradamus like you. (UR ID is also safe with me too).
SH will demolish the HOUSE

J. Boobar, better check your facts. The last time CO won CIF was in 2001 against LA.
P.S. wash that Varsity jacket this week will ya, it's getting a little grimy!
Posted by: CO Bro | November 29, 2007 2:42 PM
Don,
I'll take you up on that offer. In fact I'll be at the Final game even if my beloved Hawks aren't playing. Though, obviously I don't believe that is going to happen.
Posted by: Benny Tone Deaf | November 29, 2007 1:44 PM
I'm a graduate from Charter Oak class of 99 and the last time CO won CIF was in 98. It's in the making this is CO's year to win it all especially for all those seniors. The big CO is going to win Friday's game vs. Trabucco Hills and move on to the Finals. If Charter Oak is going to have a rematch to face El Dorado for the Finals again,it's going to be a better game then last year. But the outcome will be different this time. This year Charter Oak will be victorious with the win.And this is why the San Gabriel Valley is # 1 and Orange County # 2.

JFR,
You were going to give me tickets to an event I'm already covering? What type of gift is that?
Posted by: sramirez | November 29, 2007 9:18 AM
I think "...douchebag" is just a little jealous because Dave Brown from C-Town got into a college that "...douchebag" could never think of attending - much less playing athletics there.
Yes the SGV is about the same size as *North Orange County* so the comparison with El Do, La Habra, Fullerton and the like are fair. To venture into South OC is tantamount to us including those other teams that were mentioned (like LBP which beat Santa Margarita, Crespi which knocked off MD, etc)

Oh yea, keep banging on the SGV, just make sure you spend some money while enjoying your visit this weekend!

SH used to be quiet and confident, now they are just cocky and arrogant. I hope your not digging your own grave with a solid yet boring team to watch like Eldo. It kind of reminds me of the 80's at SH. I know to many people over to know you represent nothing more than a bleacher screamer, good job and keep it up. P.S. sorry if I don't have time to spell check everything scholar boy.

Your words Fred.
It won't happen.
Let's make a deal...if USC wins you make this site password protected immediately. It is turning into the Circus lately with immature posters and annymous tough guys.
Posted by: A regular poster who can change his name unless you change the site. | November 28, 2007 6:00 PM
Golly, I wish I'd read the Register's takes before picking our home town guys to win this week.
Hopefully Bogan and Farrar won't pick up a copy of the OC paper and get scared off.
The “homerism” of the oc press is nothing new and some of the HS fans out in the county that disney built have been feeding on it since Bill Workman was at Edison. It sells papers.
As far as the games/teams themselves go ElDo is the real deal, as are the Huskies and just like So Hills, they have a high class Coach who is well thought of as a class act and a top notch football guy. They are big, deep, and fast and may have the edge in every category except the ones Mr. Wells resides in. The Huskies also have Bogan and he is nothing if not a big game Coach.
Trabuco Hills is another solid team from a good league, (although not as good as the Century or Miramonte), and are by all accounts big and tough, but then, so are the Chargers.
Artie Casas states in the Register article:
“I was at the Foothill-Trabuco battle for the Sea View League title and they looked unstoppable. The defense was solid with its tackling, and I can’t tell you enough good things about how strong and physical that front line looks.”
Like the song says, “ya, ya, ya, ain't seen nothing yet”
FWIW, Trabuco beat a very good Foothill team by 5 points on October 19, last week South Hills beat Foothill by 24.

Fred, I think its interesting in South Hills notebook and Charter Oak Notebook pieces that a player and a coach both mentioned this blog and bloggers. That knowledge should make some blogger think twice before they post certain things.
I like the trash talk and banter as long as it doesn't get personal. We as bloggers need to take a breath before we press the post button to think should I really say this.
BTW, to the coaches and players at South Hills and Charter Oak. Good luck this weekend, play hard and stay healthy because this weekend will bring some of the best HS football many of us have ever seen.
Go Hawks!
Posted by: Benny Tone Deaf | November 28, 2007 12:07 PM
It is going to happen. So Hills will host Charter Oak in the Championship game. District field may be to small for this one. I think Mt. Sac is the best place for this one. OC going down hard Friday and Saturday. Wells will have a big game for SH. CO will have a easy time vs Trubuco this one is a mismatch. Tough to go back to back in HS football champioships and El Dorado's run will come to a end. GO SGV!
