Boys Water Polo: Schofield earns top honors

#1 fan you forgot the asian population that peek thru the fence on the north side of the stadium at Walnut Football games. Saving that $6 bucks is huge but you still have some following there. There is lots of recruiting going on within Walnut and players that refused to play because of the losing tradition are now coming back and strapping it up for next year. Walnut will be fine next year and will go at least .500 and make the CIF as the 3 seed of the San Antonio.

It's not only track and field, it is Cross country, a sport that you work your a.. off for a year in order to be competitive. If you are going to recognize the kids who deserve recognition the least Fred and Ramirez could do is try to get it right.

Ok let’s talk football. Let’s see who goes to football games. ¼ of the fans is the Cheerleaders, band and drill team. ¼ is kids with nothing to do on a Friday night. The ½ is the parents of all of the kids there. Band, Drill team, Cheerleaders, kids hanging out, and the football team. If you go to away game there are only cheerleaders, and football team parents. So if football was played at 3:15 like all other sports and no band, drill team, and Cheerleaders It would look like a JV, and Frosh game. No one there

Take a chill pill and get off Fred and Ramirez. It's only track and field a sport most don't care about anyway.

Fred you are right Morales should be on the list. He did have a good season. I would have put any of the 6 started over any Rowland player. Garcia was not put 1st team because. He is not hang out at pool and he is not on the swim team. There have to be so many player from each team for all-league. I am glad to see that you did get something right. Damien had a great team.

Fred I guss the coachs got it wrong. When Garcia went out agains Charter Oak the score was 5 to 1. Walnut end up winning that game by 1. But when Morales went out agains Rowland. Walnut still won by 7 points.

Fred and Ramirez,

Once again your credibility is in question. You guys mention a runner who does not exsist or goes to another school. Since it is your blog and paper, I quess you can post what ever you want. As a reader, I would like to think that at least you can try posting some facts. Do your homework and maybe other coaches in the area will start to take you serious.

You might want to correct your entry re second team for cross country. There is no Sean Davidson in cross country at Walnut High School. Either the school is wrong or the runner is wrong. You might want to make the necessary change.

Ramirez and Fred,
If you base it on the post season how about this fact; Brad did beat Chris at league finals but Chris came back to run the following week at CIF prelims and blew past Brad even with an injury. Doesn't this count as the post season? I guess you can suck all year and win one race and make first team for your paper. In addition, Philip Benavides was hands down the best runner in the valley winning numerous invitationals and running in the low 14's and there was no mention of him. My point, if you are going to post this, at least try to get it right! Try doing some research it might help give you some credibility.

If you are a coach, especially in cross-country, you know that it's about how you finish at the end of the year. Hernandez beat him in the race that mattered most. Sucks that Chris got hurt-but I guess the injury bug hurt Los Altos in all sports, didn't it? What's in the water up in HH?

Guys, lay off Fred, because I put the all-area teams for every sport other than football.

#1 fan, Matt Morales was picked over Steven Garcia because of he was first team all-league by the coaches, while Garcia was second team. I rarely overule all-league selections.

LAC, Gilbert Bonilla is a great player and I did consider him. But for POY awards, and all-area selections for that matter, lean heavily to what a player does in the post-season. Since Los Altos didn't make the playoffs, I couldn't see Bonilla as POY. He wasn't even MVP on the all-league team, so how can he be All-Valley MVP

Coacb, all the first team selections for the boys cross country were guys who performed well at CIF finals, or won their league titles.
Again, like I told LAC, I lean HEAVILY to what happens in the postseason, thus that's why Jason Perez was ROY and the others were first team.
Is it an exact science, no. But I stand by my picks.
As Bart Starr once said, "Anyone can put up stats and numbers in (the regular season), but doing it with the championship on the line, that's what separates the good from the best."

Once again you got it all wrong! What else is new. I just read your all area Cross country. Jason is a great runner that much you have correct, but your first team and second team well let me share some stats with you. Chris Lopez from Los Altos ran and beat every single runner on your list at Mt. SAC. Brad Hernandez, never won one race except league finals after Chris hurt himself during the race and still finished in 5th. Chris beat Brad all year, lost a single race to Brad and Brad gets first team all league. How do you figure that?

Gilbert Bonilla should've been player of the year. I give all the credit in the world to everyone else on this team especially Nick Schofield. But Bonilla just dominated every opponent who tried to defend him and carried Los Altos. Great Job Gilbert.

Who ever pick your all valley team got it wrong. Steven Garcia of Walnut worked Rowland and Charter Oak. He work Charter Oak so bad thay had to get him kick out of the game by holding him down after making 5 goals in the first half. For Rowland they never know what hit them. I would pick him over Mat Morales of Walnut who miss 162 shoots
