Football: Tribune All-Area on Christmas Day
It's coming, the Tribune All-Area football package, which will include a short video from every player selected to the team. In the following days we'll also have all-area packages for girls volleyball, girls tennis, boys water polo and cross country. Thanks to all of you for making the fall season a memorable one, and wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas weekend and Happy New Year. And for all you football honks, following All-Area will be an early look at the 2008 top ten poll, followed by top returning quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, etc. I'm sure there's enough to talk about until spring football rolls around.

Oh please pick my son!!!!
You people are pathetic. There are only a bunch of 40 and 50 year old has-beens here living vicariously through their kids and exist only to get their egos massaged on this blog and elsewhere.
SAD!
Obsessing over a bunch of 15-18 year olds is a sick thing and I will never waste my time here again.
You all need a shrink and an enema.

Brent Seals-Jr. LB
Sheldon Price -Jr. DB
Nick Lenhardt-Jr. Punter
Congrats to Dominique who will attend Univ. of Ariona.
To the Jr's. above good luck next year and look forward to making your Senior year special.

Without going into every detail, the all-area team is done differently by each prep editor. What I do is gather all the all-league team lists, and go over them with Stevie R. There are always 10-15 locks that you think absolutely have to be on the team, and the teams that performed best during the season are rewarded the most. The next step is talking to as many coaches as you can and getting their opinions on certain players. After all that, I go back over the list with Steve and we make our final decisions and invite the players and coach of the year in for their photo's and video interviews.

How is the all area team chosen? I hope that a comittee gets together and does it. Not just one person who has not seen every team and player in the valley.

questions, questions, 26 players on all area team, it's 25 plus the player of the year and a coach of the year.

Im really lookin forward to who you chose as the Player of the Year.. But im even more interested in the outcry from all the all the fans who feel their hometown kid shouldve been chosen.. Personally, if Gilmore from Wilson or Snowden from CO don't get it then there I will be really confused since they are probably the two best all around athletes and football players in the SGV..

Fred don't forget about #2 Steven Garcia of Walnut boys waterpolo. He made 72 goals with a shooting % of 68. He was rob. Everone knows he should have been the second person on 1st team. He just don't kiss butt.

That's a bunch of content to keep us busy. Maybe tie football into other sports by highlighting the top multi-sport athletes.
Great job Fred - Happy Holidays to all!
