WRESTLERS NAME: SAM GAXIOLA ... YOU GO SAM!!!
Word just came in:
Mt. SAC lost the state championship 31-28 against San Francisco.
MY MISTAKE REGARDING THE ENTRY BELOW:
The places mentioned for each wrestler was the results at the Southern California Regional Championships on Dec. 1
NOTE: The Mt. SAC wrestling team is also at Fresno for the state championships.
Mt. SAC qualfying wrestlers: Cecil Sebastian (125 lbs, 5th place); Nick Cardoza (141 lbs, 6th place); Joe Solis (157 lbs, 6th place); Jan Jaxiola (165 lbs, 6ht place); and Jon Andersen (174 lbs, 6th place). Greg Sill (184 lbs) will be an alternate at the state championships.
Mt. SAC men's soccer team lost to Taft 2-1 through a shootout.
A source who attended the game stated the conditions were real bad.
The Mounties are not use to wet field conditions. All throughout the fall they have been playing during the daylight savings time and since the change to standard daylight, they are not well-adapted to the wet lawn and when conditions get bad.
Word amongst spectators said officiating played a factor. One of the Mounties' players was red-carded and taken out of the game.
Despite that it was still 1-1 and in the shootout, the first shot by the Mounties' misfired.
Mt. SAC lost as a result 5-4, thus ending their season.
I think one or more went to Amat at least for a freshman year, too. Bob based on the Edgewood yearbook did not attend Edgewood until his junior year.
Bob= Edgewood, Mt. S.A.C., University of Miami....
Mike= Edgewood, South Hills (senior year), Mt. S.A.C., University of Colorado....
Jim= South Hills, Los Altos (Sophmore through Senior year), University of Hawaii....
Trivia since football is over
