I DON'T KNOW IF ALL THE COACHES SHOULD BE BLAMED FOR ALL OF THE POLITICS WITH MIRAMONTE LEAUGE SELECTIONS. I KNOW THAT OTHER PLAYERS IN THIS LEAUGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SELECTED. PERFECT EXAMPLE (bryce muhhammed who) FORM LA, YEAH RIGHT, THIS GUY IS SELECTED AND HE ONLY PLAYED IN ONE COMPLETE LEAUGE GAME. THIS IS A JOKE, JUST LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER SELECTIONS. IT'S NOT FAIR TO OTHER DESERVING PLAYERS. ALL YOU COACHES WHO AGREED ON THESE SELECTIONS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.

JFR,
thanks for your support, greg would appriciate it very much.

CONQCRAZY,
everyone knows ray is one of the best all-around players in the valley, sure it would of been different but please knock-off the (we would of won it all crap), south hills and charter oak were 2 very good and well coached teams, not to mention the down south teams.keep it classy !!!

working

GRI,

I am in no way a LA defender but am a HUGE GREG GANO supporter. He has been a coach and a friend for thirty of my thity-eight years on this planet. I hate when people try to drag a proven respected coach and more importantly a good persons name through the mud. Are you still bitter from your HS days when LA obviously kicked the crap out of you for four years straight.

wow ray RODRIGUEZ made the tream!?

he didnt play one leage game!!

that shows alot about this kid

i mean cmon they went 4-1 with him and then once he goes down they lose the rest of their games

wow !!

i heard he is on a college trip
it will be interesting to see where he ends uup

its just too bad that he had to get injured

LA would have won it all!!

HH football parents, are you here??

HH football parents, are you here??

RanchRowdy

How about something more timely, due to the holidays?

GRINCH!!GRINCH!!GRINCH!!

GRI??!
Man, you must really be jealous of Gano. As a member of DRanch I find that all of the hardware and banners posted at that school means the man has earned the respect you disregard him.
You talk about how you have devoted your life to serving the community and the kids. Yet, you write that you will continue to inform the parents about "the program" at LA.
If you think you can do such a great job of coaching, then apply for one of the coaching jobs that opens up each year. IF you want to BE the MAN, then you have to BEAT the MAN. And the only way you will ever beat Gano, is to coach at the HIGH SCHOOL level. The last time I looked, I don't recall seeing anything about HS football playing JR. HIGH teams.
As for your blog name, get a life. The only teams that truly RECRUIT are those called "PRIVATE" and "CHRISTIAN." But, what all of those players and parents do not understand fully is that if the player is not productive "on the field of play", and his grades are low, then that so-called school just might tell them that he needs to go elsewhere. And, then there are those players whose parents want their son to have the best education but can not afford to send him to a private school.
So, GRI--I think you forgot to add the last two letters to your blog name. Instead of GRI, I think your blog name should describe what you actually are doing--GRIPE!!GRIPE!!GRIPE!!

OUT!!

Don that last post was kind of funny, but probably right on.

GRI, You calling me gutless!

"That being said the deal still should not have been made."

It wasn't, except in your overactive imagination. Some bizzaro-world where the best RB in the valley and the best athlete on a roster needs to "cut a deal" to win a starting spot.

"As far as the blog and Gano, I know for a fact that Gano don’t like us talking on this blog about what goes on at LA."

Hey, Gano's human. He doesn't like being maliciously lied about in any forum. He'd probably do better if he didn't pay attention to stuff.

Still, you're dreaming if you think your particular little threats mean much to him. You honestly have nothing, otherwise you'd have done something about it.

"For a man that doesn’t let this blog affect him, why did he go off on that 17 year old student before class about comments in the blog?"

I can't comment on this, since I have no idea what you're talking about. But since you lie about just about everything else, I'm guessing the real story doesn't quite sound like this.

"I need to go to a meeting, but I believe my next player will be Castaneda."

Oh please...

I'm going to take a flyer at this.

The guy, (Gano's Recruiting Incorporated), who has been on here bad-mouthing the LA program/success/failure is a grumpy former pop warner coach.

Am I getting warm?

Whose kid has played in the local kiddie football league and whose family have been eagerly awaiting the day when jr gets his name in the paper as a star of the local team.

Warmer?

And along comes an “outsider”, from another school even, A CATHOLIC SCHOOL AT THAT, and steals his baby's rightful position of prominence carrying/passing/catching the ball to his neighbor's cheers on Friday nights.

How did I do?

"Gano's Recruiting Incorporated"

You're a grade "A" nitwit if you think Coach Gano guarantees "jobs" on the playing field to incoming transfers. Why doesn't he? He's smart enough not to, because he knows the next best thing may transfer in, the very next month. Oh, but wait, that's exactly part of your problem with him. Someone like Blake T. will transfer in, hoping to play QB, and then later in the year someone else (Junior T.) transfers in for the same job. Wow, sounds like Coach Gano is a cutthroat bastard.
Do you think he promised the qb job to BT? NO! Do you think he promised the job later to JT? NO! Why? Because, if lil Archie Manning Jr. (lol) were to show up a week after JT, what would the coach tell him? "Sorry, but I've "promised" the job to someone else".

NOT BLOODY LIKELY!!

The problem with people like you is that you have some strange belief of entitlement, because you've been in the SGVJAA Cougars, or HLPPW (whatevers) for 4-6 years, and then HS for another 4 years.

GET OVER IT!!

Both Los Altos, as well as Amat have a tradition of excellence when it comes to football. Unfortunately the days of domination are over (demographics, don't get me started), but the history remains. Players are drawn to a program where they believe they will have a better look from the colleges.

Some players work harder than others. Some players have more experience. And, some players are just flat out better than the rest. Prepare as well as you can, and let the best man win the position.

SUCH IS LIFE.

I'm sure even your own Mr. Gilmore must have displaced someone in the wonderful Wilson program when he came to town...

Congrat's to all the guys who made 1st team.
To all my CO guys you guys are truly amazzzzing. Thanks for the fun Friday nights. To the CO tail gaters & fans I will truly miss all of you.CO Seniors you have had a great 4 years together,The friendships you've made are true friends for life.

Jhykron,

You did respond with one fact, McBride is one of the best backs in the valley; to bad the kid got hurt may have put up some great numbers. That being said the deal still should not have been made.

As far as the blog and Gano, I know for a fact that Gano don’t like us talking on this blog about what goes on at LA. I heard that from a member of his coaching staff personally. For a man that doesn’t let this blog affect him, why did he go off on that 17 year old student before class about comments in the blog? That kid called me minutes after Gano went off on him, told me what he said and I posted it on the blog when the kid was in class to get Gano off his back. That doesn’t sound like a man that doesn’t care what is written in this blog. You will never get me to believe that Gano doesn’t care what is said in the blog.

I need to go to a meeting, but I believe my next player will be Castaneda.

"You like to talk a lot of crap and have zero facts to back up what you say."

Oh please. The next fact you bring up will be the first.

"Talk to McBride..." "was guaranteed the starting job if he transferred."

Right. There goes your credibility. The starting RB at BISHOP AMAT, possibly the best RB in the valley, needed to be "guaranteed" a starting job to go to LA in one of their thinner talent years.

Because there is no way he could have, like, won the job on his own merits or anything.

"If you want me to continue with other names keep on replying to my entries."

I'll refute whatever drivel you have to post. It's not like you make it particularly hard.

"Your lack of intelligences amazes me, you are going on a path that is going to drag Gano’s name through the mud again."

The "twits with an anti-Gano agenda" club is going to drag his name through the mud no matter what I say.

"I am not going to back down, you think you are doing him a service in protecting him but trust me he doesn’t like me on this blog talking about his recruits/transfers."

Oh yeah, I bet Gano wets his bed at night when anonymous cowards threaten to lie about him on blogs.

Jhykron,

You like to talk a lot of crap and have zero facts to back up what you say. Talk to McBride; ask him I heard about that deal from relatives before he transferred. He told them he was guaranteed the starting job if he transferred.

If you want me to continue with other names keep on replying to my entries.

Your lack of intelligences amazes me, you are going on a path that is going to drag Gano’s name through the mud again. I am not going to back down, you think you are doing him a service in protecting him but trust me he doesn’t like me on this blog talking about his recruits/transfers.

"The difference is I know how Gano handles them"

Honestly, no you don't.

"I could go through my examples,"

Which would be more lies.

"but all I am going to say is no recruit/transfer should be guarantee a spot,"

Other than your dishonest association of transfers with recruits... none of these has ever been "guaranteed" a spot.

"he should have to compete for the spot like everyone else."

And amusingly enough, that is exactly what happens at LA.

John W.,

No need to make a negative comment about the kids on this blog. Gilmore is a good kid and I wish him the best.

Gilmore does not have the smarts to attend USC or UCLA

OCFootball,

Gilmore’s dream is to be a Bruin; they are already interested in him in track and field.

rgd2626,

As I stated to LaC, I was done on this blog with the Gano stuff. I do understand that you LA guys don’t like my screen name, but to be perfectly honest with you I have received many positive comments. As far as other schools getting transfers, I’m sure they get them and some of them probably handle them the same way as LA. The difference is I know how Gano handles them and it isn’t fair to the local kids that have worked their way through his system. I could go through my examples, but all I am going to say is no recruit/transfer should be guarantee a spot, he should have to compete for the spot like everyone else.

Gilmore goes co-mvp on offense and first team defense but isn't good enough for league MVP? Oh well.... can't wait to watch him on Saturdays in 2009 wearing a Trojans uniform.

Congratulations to all the CO 1st Teamers. You guys gave your fans a great season. Get those Juniors and Sophs into the weight room and let's bring another league championship to the school next year.
Coaches, players, and beep-beep fans - Merry Christmas!

LaC,

To be perfectly honest with you, my opinion of Gano and the way he runs the program over at LA has nothing at all to do with his record. This opinion started during the 2003 season the first year I started interacting with the man. We had a meeting the end of the 2005 season about these issues. During the 2006 season other issues came up, I decided to do something about it this time. If you look back at this blog I didn’t start this war, I asked an honest question, didn’t even give the name of the player. I got Jhykron and rgd2626 attacking me. I dropped this Gano subject weeks ago, so if you LA bloggers don’t want me to be dragging Gano’s name through this blog then don’t come on this blog and start attacking me because I am going to responded. When you live in a Glass House don’t throw rocks.

gri,
i dissagree what you are doing about gano and the program, but you are free to do as you wish, also that is very commendable thing your doing with the equipment and giving the kids the time and space to work with.my reason for saying you have something going on about gano is, ok, you dont like the way things are done over there, yet many other schools get many transfers also, and you continue to talk down them like you do la, that is why i thought it is a personal thing.but thats your right.i wont debate on this matter anymore, and like i said i leave my blogs out of my conversations with gano, continue the work you do with the kids and i hope someday this isnt something that bothers you so much.
i think and hope we over at la will have a better season next year
good luck

Hey Fred,

What happened to the announcement of the Sierra League "All League" list in the Tribune today?

Fred What About The Mission Valley League ??

I never write on this blog but Gano’s Recruiting Incorporated you are a joke. Seriously how pathetic can you be to be talking all of this bs on a blog about a High School Football team and its coach. Might as well post bulletins on myspace while your at it....

"he has probably realized by know that I am very involved with the kids in the area. I have made it my personal goal to make sure what has happen to the local kids in the past doesn’t continue to happen in the future."

So you're telling me you have nothing better to do but to preach about how bad you think the LA program is? One bad season in 10+ years and people go off on Gano and the Conqs. There's always next year in sports that's why we play the game! I've seen the LA program first hand (as close as can be) and there's nothing wrong with it....

Please Gano’s Recruiting Incorporated get a life and just leave LA Football out of your mouth.

rgd2626,

I don't recall stating that you are on his staff in the last message maybe I missed something......... are you talking about the "your program" comment. I actually know that you aren't on his coaching staff. I also know from your other comments that your son coaches one of the soccer teams. I believe that you are the gray hair man that attends the non LA games with Gano.

As far as hate, I don't think I hate anyone. I don't like the way he runs the program at LA. I have made it my mission to inform the parents of future high school kids of the way he runs the program at LA. I will continue to talk to anyone that will listen when it comes to this subject. I have talked to hundreds and will continue to talk.

There were some personal issues in the past but we cleared them up. I will say this much in his position as AD and Head Coach at LA he could use that position to support the community, he has made some bad decisions.

I have and always will support the youths of this community and it doesn't matter what high school they are attending or what football team they are on. I have already opened my doors to many kids on the LA team to use specialized equipment that I have personally purchased. So many of these kids have dreams and my job as a parent, coach, board members, etc. is to give all these kids the best opportunity to obtain these goals.

Yes I do believe you, when you wish me best of luck next year. I believe that you are a good person trying to support your friend; I would do the same in your shoes.

i guess you cant read, im not on the staff, and i have NEVER brought you up to gano, you have made it obvious this is a personall thing with gano, theres no way this is about football, and i dont know you personally, but from what you have been writting i can see why your so called friends said what they did about you. honestly, i hope you get things cleared up, its not worth it to hate like you do, but again, there has to be something else with you and greg, and thats none of my buisness.so you do as you wish and i know you dont belive me, but good luck next year.

why dont valle vista have mvp's

What a total joke these picks are, that mcbride kid didnt even play in league and 3 tight ends these all league selection have become a joke.

rgd2626,

Once again, LA's record was 4-6, not 6-4, o yea I’m sorry I forgot about the big win over Diamond Ranch, you know the forfeit.

Once again, like I said in the past, give me enough talent and I can win a CIF title. This season proves my point. Gano losses a couple of his studs and he goes 1-6. Gano had 5 1st team players that played the whole season and some of those kids that got injured were there during that 1-6 finish. Great COACHING job, Gano made GREAT ADJUSTMENTS. GREAT COACHES FIND A WAY TO WIN.

Let’s talk about my support, being that you don’t know me very well and you love to get up in Gano pants. You can tell Gano this for me, he has probably realized by know that I am very involved with the kids in the area. I have made it my personal goal to make sure what has happen to the local kids in the past doesn’t continue to happen in the future. So I am going to continue to educate the parents about your program. You can say what you want on this blog, but it isn’t going to stop me from speaking my piece, and trust me the parents are listening.

curious,
good luck in finding out why on some of these, and if or when you get a truly honest answer, let me know, it would be intersting if there were certain reasons behind there picks.
by the way-jhykron is an insider, i am not, just a supporter of la and a friend of gano.
good luck

gri
showing your anger and or lack of knowledge, your saying sincethey weny 6-4 this season la is a bad program or gano is a bad coach, wow, how quickly we forget the 4 CIF TITLES and over 100 wins since hes been there.and again your WRONG, im not on his staff and ive never said a word to him about your comments.gonna sak you a question. if gano is such a bad coach and la is such a bad program then why do kids keep coming there?? i know where your from and when you beat us this year i congratuled you guys, why cant you show respect to others as well? and you need to think about something, if you truly believe everything you hear from 17 year old kids, you need to wake up, and WHY would you talk to these 17 year olds about this, i say it as i see it, win or lose, and la had a horrible season, 6-5, that stinks, but for you talk about 1 or 2 bad seasons out of 12, come on GRI, just suck it up like i do when we lose or when someone is better than us.
good luck next year, i stil root for all the locals in cif, i really wish you would do the same.

rgd2626,

You know the “hit a nerve” is getting real old.

Your comment, Gano could care less what I think? From what I hear that is far from the truth. He is going off on 17 year old kids in his class because of what I write on this blog. He comments to his coaching staff about the comments on the blog. Best yet is when I am recruiting kids I use Gano and his programs history to validate why these local kids shouldn’t go to LA, it is pretty hard to argue history. I know the comments are getting back to him and his staff, but like I said I have no problem telling him to his face what I think of him.

You know you might want to think before you write, “jealous over victorys and loses” last I checked a 4-6 season isn’t something I am going to be jealous about.

My friends told you that I am gutless, now you are telling me who my friends are. Based on your fact gathering techniques you obviously must be part of Gano’s staff.

Curious,
You didn’t hit the never, I did.

rgd2626,

Didn't mean to strike a nerve. It was just something I saw. Just like the San Antonio thing. You asked me to explain and I did. You didn't like my explanation and it showed in the post.

The Jhykron explanation was very informative and explained the situation. So I will go to him if I have any questions on the miramonte league.

gri,
guess i hit a nerve !!!
you know him so good, you call him, but wait a minute, im sure he could care less what u think, good luck next year !!!
and im not the one who said you were gutless, YOUR friends told me that, but its ok, not everyone can like everyone, its just to bad a person can be so jealous over victorys and loses in a football game.
again, good luck next year

rgd2626,
“jhykron,
i know who GRI is, and believe me, the reason he doesnt use his name and uses others,he is gutless, even the other parents that know him think this, they are the ones that told me that.”
That is great, anyone that knows me that is the last thing they would call me, gutless. I have no problem telling Gano to his face what I think of him, I have done it in the past. The gutless ones are the ones over at LA that talks sh*t about Gano behind his back. I have no problem meeting with the guy and telling him exactly what I think of him. You want to set up a meeting just call me you can ask one of the kids on the Los Altos Freshman team for my phone number about half the kids have the number.

Jhykron,

Being part of the problem, if I would have used one of my other screen names yours and rgd2626 response wouldn't have been what they were.

If Fred sees a problem with what I am writing he has all valid email address that he can get a hold me. Just becasue you don't like what I have to say doesn't make it a problem on this blog.

What is real interesting is when I use my other screen name you LA Banwagoners discuss the issues with me, since you think I am an LA parent.

When Gano starts to coach I will call him coach. Until then “Gano's Recruiting Incorporated”.

jhykron,
i know who GRI is, and believe me, the reason he doesnt use his name and uses others,he is gutless, even the other parents that know him think this, they are the ones that told me that.

curious
i meant to say miramonte has 5 teams,
your right , some leagues have more spots for o-linemen, does that mean that they are watered down league for those positions, just admit it, for whatever reason you dont like our league. im sure it differs every year how many spots for each position, depends on the strenghts that year, but like i said, im done responding to you, you just dont like our league or you really dont have much football knowledge.so good luck in your league, whatever one it is, o yeah, you dont have a league !!!!!

Yeah, there is a lot of political BS in the all-league selections, and Miramonte has more than its fair share of silly compromises.

You might notice that aside from the 32 spots, the MVPs are taken out of the first team running for their position, so there are in fact 36 spots this year.

I was always of the opinion a "legitimate" first team should have 24 spots:

1 QB
5 OL
2 TE or WR
3 RB or WR
3 DL
3 LB
3 DB
2 other DL/LB/DB
1 Kicker
1 Punter

GRI:

"That is why I use multi screen names on this blog and will continue to use multi screen names on this blog."

I bet the people running this blog find your announced intentions to continue being part of the problem amusing.

It caught my eye today and I noticed that the other leagues selected one TE. But now that you mentioned other leagues. The San Antonio league with 8 spots for D linemen?

CONGRATS TO CHARTER OAK FOOTBALL PLAYERS ON 1st TEAM SELECTIONS, AND SPECIAL CONGRATS TO EVAN WILLIAMS AND TYLER PERI, Jrs WHO WILL HAUNT OFFENSIVE BACK I 08.

curious,
like i said, the coaches vote, so not sure your why your asking me to (explain this),and im sure some coaches consider tight end as an off linemen, wich they are. not only that why did you just question this league ??

miramonte-
4- teams- 4 slots for linemen
san antonio-
5-teams - 6 slots
valle vista-
5-teams - 6 slots

maybe its just me but that doesnt look like a great big difference to me.

Jhykron,

"Of course, anyone with half a brain might have noticed that LA stopped updating Maxpreps about half way through the season..."

That's why I asked the question. Since you have half a brain you knew that. On the other hand I have a whole brain and didn't know that.

That is why I use multi screen names on this blog and will continue to use multi screen names on this blog. If I would have made that comment with my other screen name the response would have been totally different. When I use the other screen names I use a different email address and a different IP on the same box. Maybe with your half a brain you can figure out how.

P.S. I wonder why LA stopped posting stats at Maxprep 1/2 way through the season. 5 game losing streak, season over ........

Then explain this. Three TEs who are first team in a five team league and only four offensive linemen? I'm not questioning the picks. I'm questioning the number of slots. IMO it looks watered down in most areas.

curious,
every league does it there own way, some have more linemen some more running backs etc, but all the leagues usually have 15 or 16 first-teamers.and as much as we go to games and as smart as we think we are, the COACHES know the game and kids more that any of us. the COACHES are the ones that see these kids on the field and on tape, and they are the ones that vote.

Congradulations to all the boys receiving league honors....especially the ones from the Ranch. We are all very proud of you.

I'm not from any league. I just don't see how you can have all these first team players and then have a second team. Is there also an honorable mention. Heck let everyone be All league. Give everyone an award.

Jhykron

It's the half-a-brain thing that's the tip off to that poster...

As he says "I must be missing something."

Yea, the other half of your pea-sized brain...

Fred, isn''t it really something to see all the Bishop Amat players...opps ...the former Bishop amat players sprinkling the ALL LEAGUE selections of various SGV leagues.

Doesn't that really talk to the "grit" that Verti must have. I can't imagine Damien winning 1 game if they lost McMahon (Mcbride), Pertusati (Wells),Koprincina (Saenz) and Herrera and Talmo. That's essentially what Verti and Amat lost this past year and yet Verti and company went into battle with Crespi, St. Paul, Notre Dame, Loyola and the rest of their schedule.

My hats off (which really happens) to the Bishop Amat players, coaches (Spooner especially) and Head Coach Mark Verti. It seems as if the Bishop Amat bloggers have lost track of what it must be to look at a bunch of second stringers and new position players and tell them if they work hard they CAN WIN! Carson was a winnable game. I was there. And in the end they too were in the City Championship Game. Maybe Verti pulls it off and maybe he doesn't but at least he NEVER made excuses about the "talent" that left the school. Considering he had nothing to do with any of them leaving.

Final long winded point. BISHOP AMAT PLAYERS ARE ON A WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL THAN ANYONE IN THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY....BY A TON! THIS SEASON PROVES THAT!

It's sad that people lose sight of what these All-League picks really mean and get worked up when their favorite player isn't named. With the exception of a few dominant stud hosses whose sheer numbers keep them in a state of high visibility, (think Snowden, Barbone, Wells, etc.), the players who make these teams are there based largely on the lobbying efforts of their own coaches. Some coaches are better at getting players on these teams than others, (think Bogan, Gano, etc.), and this is reflected every year when these lists come out.

When looking at “statistics”, folks ought to also acknowledge these are kept and posted by each team and the criteria for keeping many of these statistical categories varies from school to school. Some schools are more “aggressive” than others when recording things like assists on tackles or sacks and some teams flat out pad rushing and receiving yardage. Some coaches won't even post team stats on public sites like MaxPreps because of the “subjective” nature of the record keeping. (Well, they say that anyhow.)

Item last is that coaches often have a kid they feel deserves additional attention for the “body of work” he has contributed, (special teams, two way play, leadership, etc.), through the season or maybe over his four year career. That coach will sometimes sell that player harder or even horse trade votes or call in markers from previous seasons to get the recognition he thinks that boy deserves even though there may have been other players in the league who had better seasons. More often than not you'll find guys like Gano, Bogan and Farrar pulling these kid's up since they usually bring the most “currency” to the table.

RCI,
you are missing something, its call knowledge and facts before you start complaining (again).
and its obvious you didnt watch la play much this year or you would not of blogged that, so i guess all that crap you been saying all year was smoke out your , will just leave it at that.

jhykron -
you gave him more credit than i did, 1/2 ???
and thanks for clearing that up for the jealous haters that are sure to follow.
curios,
i noticed you didnt mention the league your from.

I think he's talking about Martinez. He's the one listed with 96 yards at Maxpreps.

Of course, anyone with half a brain might have noticed that LA stopped updating Maxpreps about half way through the season...

Congratulations to all players selected for all league honors. Special congratulations to Mike Howard as Defensive MVP. You earned it big Mike!

33 First team selections? 3 TEs? Watered down all league selection.

League coaches must have felt that McBride was an obvious choice before his injury, and voted him in based on that. I remember a few years ago covering Pacific League basketball when coaches voted on a player of the year who never played in one league game because of a season-ending ACL injury prior to league. The reasoning was he was the reigning league MVP as a junior, and would have been the obvious choice had he played his senior season. I don't agree with it. But that's the rationale behind these decisions.

Fred,

I'am just asking the question, but how does a player rush for 96 yards and score three touchdowns all year get first team RB. I must be missing something.
