Hey fred, we miss you over here on the westside. I hope things our well. Now since you have been in the ESGV can you tell me why John Muir can't get a game with any schools from out area? We have called South Hills ,both Covina Schools, from Monrovia to the 15-freeway. Can you help me with this? They all want to play the big boys but won't step to the mic? You know the Stangs team & staff are A class act. Help get the bad rap off us.

Brandon Stansell from Rowland actually went to Royal Oak Middle School in Covina and everyone in the community was hoping he would go to Charter Oak but if I remember correctly he actually lives in the Rowland School District and his parents chose for him just to go to our middle school in our district because they liked Royal Oak better than Rowland's middle schools in the district. My son and him competed and played together on the same basketball teams when they were younger. He actually was a basketball player first when we he competed in sports years ago with my boys but we may have to go watch him play now when my son doesn't play if they play on opposite nights. Sounds like he is doing real well and deservingly so because he is a good kid and comes from good parents and family. We the parents from Charter Oak wish Brandon continued success and good luck his senior year but just don't go to Los Altos!

the best te in the valley next year possibly mmight be a kid named kwajo bonsu 6'4 240 runs a 4'9 has amzin hands better then tight end from carson

Walnut tallis WR is 5'10" the soccer team has 6 kids from 6'1" to 6'4" that didn't play football.
They also can out run most of the backs and WR.

Papa Bear Halas
Try knowing what your talking about before you accuse other schools of cheating.
What players from West Covina lived out of district? West Co loses more players to other schools than they ever recieve, they are in the same situation as Walnut & Nogales when it comes to out of district players. You haven't got a clue
teady bear.

Rowland is Rowland and Walnut is Walnut and Nogales is Nogales. With the exception of Rowlands Semi-good year 2 years ago and the Al-Gattis led Walnut team and who the heck knows when Nogales ever had a good year in football, the San Antonio goes thru So Hills and West Covina because of non residential area students popping up on these campuses. If given straight up Residential players only the San Antonio becomes a more equal well balanced league. Cheating is going on we all know it and unless something is done by CIF, South Hills and West Covina will rule the roost of the San Antonio League. The transfer rule is pathetic and we all know SH and WC have found a loop hole and are using it to their advantage.

lol danny and cris

we had a bad year no doubt. but lets have a look at what happened. a team comes out of their season with a rookie senior as their starting qb id the stead of their ruturning junior. and thats not a bash at elias its just a fact. and on the defensive side of the ball their returning second team all league sophomore defensive end is out too. now tell me how good south hills is gonna be without alex barrios and deen. thats all that happened to us. hate on it if u want. put the blame on me, i got broad sholdures, talk all you want abut snyder dreaming and michael ball coming up for a spot. watch in shock and awe when shouth hills falls off and the new sheriff comes to town town, mark my words, print this up in the papers too. in the 08 season rowland will be a force to be reconed with. we will compete in the san antonio league championship and we will go deep in the playoffs

and i dont care. how many transfers is south hills getting next year. the might magically pick up a new running back and line backer like they did this past year. i wonder even if dorian wells lives in the bondaries. I think Not. he take a 20 minute ride getting to school every morning. i cant wait til south hills has to play with neiborhood kids. sure theyll still have a good team but i dont see any running backs. i bet brandon stansell will make you forget who dorian wells is. i wouldnt be surprised if we found out he was from pasadena or south central, hes a hell of an athlete i just dont like the fact he transfered there his senior year. theres something up with that. i smell recruiting violation.

aint that some funny ish everybody hating on waldenberger over at rowland cuz he didnt have the worlds best half season. it funny how every1 forgerts that he only played six games due to a torn pcl u cant be mad at a kid for that. anyone who was ever an athlete knows that. and no1 even notices that he got second team at defensive end having only played one league game. and this kids got a great attitude. i got to talk to him after his teams heartbereaking loss to don lugo (22-21) and all he said was "i cant tell you what happened tonight and i cant say id have made a difference. but give my guys some credit they came out and played a hell of a game against a team who on paper dhould have demolished us." wait till next year all of you are gonna feel really stupid

larry ortega and tim B.

im a rowland player and i know we had a bad year but why do u feel the need to bash on us and other kids like cooper from walnut. does it make you feel like a man. cause it makes you looks like an A--hole. we had a bad year. happens. and southhillsbabe what the heck is that all about, you have no idea what we had to go through. Waldenberger tore his PCL before the season started so you coming at a player like that aint even right, you dont even know him. and id like to see how south hills fairs without wells and parham. yeah deens good but whos he gon throw too. south hills defense is going to be stellar. they have bowden, barrios and goss coming back. but ill bet money rowland will win league or at least tie for it next year. we had an off year. had a bad start. lost themomentum the will to win at the beginning. and everyone who knows football knows its about momentum and we lost a lot when we didnt have our qb. but we will be good next year thats a promise. you dont have to worry well put it down. and we might play Bonita instead of wilson and i guareentee victory in that game. and i believe the san antonio league will be the strongest league in the vallet next year. no doubt in my mind.

The Rowland team was just low level teams that had a few good players. There is nothing interesting about them though.Waldenberger at Qb is snyder dreaming. This wasn't a fairy tell ending hopefully theyll have in michael ball next year. maybe there defense could save them because they are going no where with waldenberger.

#1,

That was my point, your best QB does not play the sport of football , I wonder why?..he most likely plays another sport albeit Soccer or Water Polo or maybe even baseball and does not want to get his body knocked around during football season for a losing cause. Does that make it right? No, but he does have the choice and I can bet Mom and Dad are right there telling why bother with that depleted football team when you can play a sport at Walnut that at least gives you pride in compeating. Parents are behind allot of this defection of the football team and if the principal had it his way he would save the money and cut out those programs entirely, but he cant because there are still the die hards that cling to that hope that Walnut football will turn it around. If your team is mostly Sophmores as you claim then if it is groomed right, by their Senior season the Walnut football team will turn the corner and start to beat the WC and SH teams. If must stay the course and hopefully do not lose players to transfers or plain out quiting on their football program. Again recruitment within is what goes along ways. You asked and I am from Nogales and that is what we will be trying to do for next season is go out to the student body and try to built a team of 50 to 60 players because 23 to 24 players is not cutting it for us. I am hoping both our schools turn it around in the next copuple of years and start to take over the San Antonio, but as I stated before the San Antonio is a weak league and SH keeps kicking all of our butts , we need to change things and restore our programs and bring the pride back to this side of West Covina and to this side of Walnut. Go get your in house players because we are going after ours. Again coaching does play into it and Politics there should be no politics when you are seeking and scrounging for players like both our schools are at this present time.......good luck to your Walnut team next year hope one of us can beat those Huskies and Bulldogs..

Don't blame the kids at Walnut. Two yrs ago Coach P used a Senior to QB the JV team. Then he left to coach the freshman team leaving the Varsity hanging. With out a upcoming junior, or sophomore to QB for the next 2 yrs. But that OK Walnut team being 25% sophomore. They will be there again. Walnut best QB doesn't even play Football.

#1,

Austin Cooper will shut down the league next year? What does that mean? are you trying to say Austin Cooper will tear up the league next year? Austin Cooper is horrible and who is going to be his O-line, The girls soccer team, because they can probably protect him better then any of the boys you are throwing out there. Chima Ike is one player what is around him? you cannot play 1 vs 11......Your coaching staff needs a complete overhaul. Anytime you lose year in and year out the problem can lie on two things bad coaching or lack of talent that you draw from your student body. #1 dont get me wrong I am sure there is lots of talent that sits on that Walnut campus but is it being recruited and utilized to it's fullest capacity. Most walk away from football and baseball and do not participate because of losing..losing breeds defection. See Nogales HS....what 23 24 kids on their team, I am sure there are more men on that campus that can play football but they do not because of losing. Their base ball team has a solid coach and kids come out to play that sport knwing they have a shot at winning. Football, do you want to spend your summer working out only to know you are going to have maybe 2 wins in the upcoming season..The key to building a winner is to get the best the schools has to offer. Even with no Experience in playing football there are kids that can adapt and pick up the game for the first time and contribute. Coaches need to reach out to the kids and get them to come out.....Posters, Letters, Meetings with parents and tell them that you are trying to build a solid program and you are looking for players in the Junior and Senior ages that are not playing right now but can come out and help. In doing this your record will come up to at least 5-5. Of course a good coach gets that. Do you guys over at Walnut have the coach? if you do then get him some players..they are there you are just not recruiting your own students. #1 if you are a player and student there, get the word out and pressure these dead beat kids to come out and play and get Walnut back to respectability.

Sorry, I'm not up at 6:14 a.m. like you're. It's coming.

nogales kwajo bonsu will hav a breakout season next year watch but he has nobody 2 help him get looked at but kwajo bonsu has improved alot from his sophmore year he sure will get better 4 his senior u just watch him just watch him

Ay Tim Bamberger Austin Cooper will shut down the league next year.
Chima Ike(62 tackles,2FF,2 sacks) will keep shutting down all the running backs like he did this year......aint you like a 45 year old men still checkin for high school kids...... whos your favorite team in the valley, because if we play them better believe Chima Ike(DL) will shut them down!!!!

Congratulations to all San Antonio league players,
wether all league or not, all of you put in a lot of hard work, great job.

Re: Jon Earnest (SH)

Jon, my family and I are proud of your accomplishments while attending SH. Only wish I could have seen more of your games but often our scheduling conflicted. 1st team OL & DL was quite an achievement and I'm sure the old man is as proud of you as we are. Best of luck in the future.

FYI: Remember CAGWA nights at SH?

PLAID LAD

this is a rig vooting panel becuhz nogales other tight end number 9 did as much as oliver estrella and he had no touchdowns so i think if anything bromstead shuldve got it but since he is a senior i guess give it 2 oliver estrella instead of kwajo bonsu number 9 but just wait till next year kwajo will get all valley next year jus wait

Watch out for michael ball next year...

Congrats to Sean for Playing the whole season with a injured shoulder and making first team all league..

#1,

the team to beat next year?...I guess those pesticides they sprayed on those Walnut trees years ago have come full circle and have tainted you innocent mind. With a QB like Austin Cooper you are going where?..then there is Peralta the back up and you are going where? Leonard Rhodes is the best thing you have and I hear he is considering transferring he has had enuf of losing over there at Walnut. Your stundent body plays the other sports for your school like badminton, Volleyball, basketball, Tennis, Waterpolo and tidly winks. Unless you get some of those real athletes that play those mentioned sports your team will be cellar dwellars again, over and over and over again Walnut does not deliver. Chima Ike I would take my chances with Ike Turner. With a name like Chima you might as well be playing jungle games. Watch your baseball team this year and tell me if these are athletes that can compete. You are not a baseball or football school....another Idea is draft the girls because they kick Ass over there at Walnut...the boys what a yawner!.......

The Sierra league was already announced in Chino Hills/Chino local paper. The only MVP shown was for Offensive MVP, which was awarded to Matt Baca, QB, Ayala High School.

Fred J,
There may be weaker teams in this league but there are outstanding players on those teams. I would also say that the coaching staff plays a major part in the success of those teams. As to your comment on Dec 11 stating everyone is crap I beg to differ. Hey, props to Dorian Wells, he is a great athlete but I would say to put him up against Jesse Ili from Nogales, my money is on Ili. Watch for him next year too, he is only a sophomore.

Alonzo Nevarez didn't play DE he was a LB.

Hey fred who picks these players ,please tell me its not just you.

Ay yo Tim Bamberger this is a Walnut High School player telling you that we will be the team to beat in the san-antonio league next year. So if you want to hate on us, you can hate on us, and get off of Dorian Wells' Jock strap....How does Chima Ike not make the first team in the san antonio league, he stats alone were crazy in league competition.

Hey fred why didnt valle vista do mvp and offense mvp and defense mvp cause they would be nico barbone angel kid and bronze withem

way to clean it up fred.

Larrt Ortega & Tim B.
Do you both feel better now? Are you feeling the pride well up in your chest as you bash these highschool kids and the effort they put out all year? Why not act like the adults your suppose to be & congratulate these kids for the blood sweat & tears they put into the season, this thread was to congratulate kids for the hard work and effort
they put out all year.
Here's a little enlightenment for you boys,
The San Antonio may have been down this year
but in most years it will be the third best league in the SGV, behind the Sierra & Miramonte, and occasionally, like in 04 it could have made an argument for the top or 2nd league in the SGV. In 04 & 05 & 06 the San Antonio had three schools that would be top ten schools in the sgv and the league was comparable to the Miramonte, thats why we were moved up to division 6. [Southwestern div.]. There is plenty of interest in this league from SGV followers so if this league isn't your cup of tea, then go back to your Miramonte, we'll be fine without you.

That's stupid. Wayne Goss didn't even play DE. He should have gotten 1st team for DB not DE.

Fred,

when do the all-area and all cif teams come out???

mark my word

whens the montview league???

this is a test

test

RAIDER NATION,

Now ain't that the pot calling the kettle black. You raider nation idiots run around with those stickers that say "Raiders "F" the rest" and have the biggest gangbanger following of any team in the NFL.......I know these kids have been mentioned as first team and second team but first and second to what? the fricken San Antonio league.?? thats not saying much. Aside from SH who couuld have really run up the scores on some of these teams tell me what nogales or walnut has over there..Nogales had a team of 22 players on their roster....what is that. Walnut was 1-9 on the year, Rowland only got in the playoffs because they take 3 san antonio teams and got wiped out by Wilson a San Antonio team in non league play. did you see the disaster with Walnut trying to have a passing league with Amat before the season. I mean fine put these kids names out there but maybe 2 or 3 make the all area team. Good these kids got some ink but it is fools gold. The San Antonio League has no talent base except SH and some from WC...the rest get their Ass kicked year in and year out...

This is for Tim Bamberger and Larry Ortega

"Screw you Guys" !! you get on this site and bash kids!!! Wells deserves to be MVP no question, but to knock all the other players is crazy. Each player that was named deserves to be there. FYI Did you know that Brandon Stansell has a game of 228yds rushing this season? But he is a watered down talent??(Your words Larry )and he also ran for 104yds against WC and 113 vs. Wilson but in your words he is "crap" ( That quote goes to you Tim ) Remember, these kids have families that are very proud of them so for you to do this just shows your character. Grow up and get a life !!

Radier Nation

Sierra on Thursday

when is the sierra league comming?

Those who have called the office asking about second team selections and all league for the other sports should check Wednesday's Tribune. We will print the full all-league teams from every sport.

CONGRATS TO JOHN EARNEST ON A GREAT YEAR AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT NOT ONLY IS THIS KID TOUGH ON THE FIELD AND IN THE GYM BUT HE'S GONE THROUGH ALOT OF CRAP IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS WHICH HAS MADE HIM EVEN TOUGHER OFF THE FIELD

who made the second team san antonio league football team ? could you post those names too in your colum..
thank you..

Congratulations to Wayne Goss...

His Father, Wayne Sr. also played for SHHS on a Football League Championship team!

TIM BAMBERGER THE TRUTH DOSENT HURT I KNOW THE LEAGUE IS WEAK SOUTH HILLS AND WEST COVINA ARE THE ONLY 2 TEAMS THAT ALLWAYS MAKE NOISE IN THE SAN ANTONIO LEAGUE, BUT BEFORE YOU JUMP IN AND START YOUR CRAP ABOUT THE TRUTH HURTS I WAS JUST SAYING GOOD JOB FOR THE KIDS....

It was printed in today's newspaper also, and nobody has called to tell me there was an error. If and when that happens, we'll make a correction.

#1 fan truth hurts but it is true there is nothing but crap in the San Antonio EXCEPT SHHS. Dorian Wells deserves the MVP....show me someone at Walnut or Nogales or even Rowland that comes close in matching this kids greatness...uh no one!....all those teams are just tackling dummies and going thru the motions pylons in a uniform when they play SHHS. one of five teams that is a weak league

HEY Fred, the artical today was a little stingy on space and font for the San Antonio League. A big ahonor deserves more space and perhaps photos.

TO LARRY ORTEGA, GET A LIFE DUDE... YOUR THE FIRST ON THIS TOPIC TO ALLREADY START TALKING SHI-
GOOD JOB TO ALL THAT MADE IT

Just Noticed:

San Antonio League First Team Offense
PK - Robert Rodriguez, West Covina

Is also featured in todays Tribune Photo Galleries. (Soccer) (West Covina vs. Servite during the Western Christian Tournament at Cal Poly Pomona)

Besides So Hills and a little of WC....this is a very weak league with not much talent. The Rowland, Walnut and Nogales teams are just low level teams that have a few good players. There is nothing intresting in the San Antonio league but So. Hills. WC is so, so.. The Miramonte league is far superior to this watered down San Antonio....at full strenght the First team and second team from the above San Antonio League and play them against the best from the Miramonte league and see what happens. It would not be a contest the Miramonte league has the better athletes.

Coming tomorrow, Miramonte League
