Football: All-CIF selections, sort of ...

The CIF-SS is no longer involved with All-CIF football selections, and in fact, you can't even say I made "All CIF" anymore because the title doesn't exist. The new title is "L.A. 84 Foundation Team Awards as selected by the Football Coaches Advisory Committee." CIF is considering other ways to become involved again, but for now, you've got that lame title. What a shame.

These are you local football players who made "Divisional First-Teams"

Southwest Division
Isaac Tucker, West Covina
Cameron Deen, South Hills
Domanic Blanco, Charter Oak
Sean Veal, South Hills
Mikey Harrell, Charter Oak
Brandon Parham, South Hills
Ray Rodriguez, Los Altos
Alex Bromstead, South Hills
Ben Counce, Charter Oak
Ray Washington, Charter Oak
Eric Glaster, South Hills
Nick Longoria, Los Altos
Tyler Terri, Charter Oak
Kebin Umodo, South Hills

Mike Howard, Charter Oak
Damon Kuklinski, South Hills

Southeast Division
Jonathan Mendoza, South El Monte
Tommy Cogburn, South El Monte
Juan Perez, South El Monte
Daniel Centeno, Arroyo
Tra Sumler, Rosemead

Pac-5 Division
Bishop Amat - None

Northwest Division

Im just looking at this thing strictly as objectively as I can, and I have to say that, in my opinion, this was not the best that they could have done.

Yes, a lot could be said about the fact that the new coach is an alum that was here, when Amat had a winning program. And yes, a lot could be said as to his early success at lower division schools, and for that matter at the strong liklyhood that they will win more games than they lose this, up comming year (due to the softer schedual), however....

A good coach, is a good all of the time, not just every other years or two. A good coach and a good hire will be successful after all the seniors graduate (what's gonna happen when thier all gone eh...). A good coach comes in and hits the floor running and is able to match up against the likes of Crespi and Notre Dame and yes, even against Orange Lutheran right now !!

Tell me the truth here folks, Is this coach going to do all of that ? Even with the fact that there will be an improvement considering the past few years at Amat, can you honestly say that they could have gotten a far better coach with a more impressive resume here ?

Look, im certian this fellow is a great guy, with as big a hart as it gets, but the reality here is that the administration could have gotten a better candidate.

Footbal at Amat is about winning, but it seems to me, that there was far to much empahsis on saving a few bucks, and getting a guy who was "an alum" rather than getting someone who can do the job consistanly, and over the long run, and at EVERY LEVEL.

Im sorry, but I dont agree with this choice. This is not the answer. I hope im wrong, but just look at what happened with the university of Notre Dame receintly, when they relied soley on alums to rebuild thier progam. They did'nt do so good eh.

Good luck coach...you'll need it.

I'm going to make one last clairification, DORIAN WELLS WAS SELECTED AS A FIRST TEAM ALL-CIF PLAYER AT RUNNING BACK!!!!! For some reason, Fred forgot to put it on this list that is posted!

Conq Alum;

I have given fact after fact to the LA bloggers, so I am no longer going to waste my time with facts. All I hear from the LA bloggers is crying about how we talk about your recruiter am sorry coach. Build a program the right way, as you will note below, this is how OL builds their program. Maybe if Gano took pride in trying to do things the right way, he wouldn’t have so many kids/parents leaving his program.

Like I keep asking those Gano Groupies how does a man come on this blog and say he is going to have a weak team next year with his last four freshmen teams finishing with a 9-1 record. The weak team surly is not due to the lack of talent in his program?

Here is one of my posting on another blog;

"Lutheran football Coach Jim Kunau said it was "very unusual" for the Lancers to gain so many transfers, and he insisted the school does not recruit.

Principal Greg Pinick said, "We take pride in trying to do things the right way.""

Should be noted no relationship to Greg Gano.

No balls to put up, then it's time for you to shut up, and go away.

The LA bloggers don't care about your "facts", but maybe someone at the CIF offices would.

Man up, and make your "factual" accusations to the proper authorities.

Otherwise, your just talkin' out your a$$.

"Gano's Recruiting Incorporated"

If you're so interested in saving everyone from the evil that is Coach Gano, why don't you start naming names, and attempt to right the injustices of the LA program?

We're all tired of hearing your rants, and accusations on this blog.

Time to put up, or shut up.

As you can see others share my opinion of Gano on this blog. But, what I find so surprising is how many current LA players and parents feel the same way about Gano and his staff, especially the parents. The parents that aren't part of Gano's groupies (I like groupies, thanks Sam) don't have much positive to say about the program.

Charlie,
You are correct some of these kids haven’t grown much since those days. As far as the grades go, I put some of the blame on the coaching staff. They should be monitoring the kids to make sure that they make the grades. But I will tell you this much that grade issue is very interesting at LA. If you don’t make the grades and don’t start on the varsity team you cut, come back next year. Now if your one of his varsity starters, Gano will take care of the grades. I will give you an example; I have seen one of his starting players not go to school for weeks, just show up for practice and games. This kid never got cut due to grades. After the last game of the season the kid dropped out of High School. The kid had a full ride to a D1 or D2 school, he was that good. I see the kid on the corner of Stimson and Lujon, just sitting out in front of his house during the day, what a waste. Great Job Gano, you got your four years out of the kid and kicked him to the side. You taught him a life long lesson that he will never forget.

Gano's Recruiting incorporated,

Is that the best you can do is call me Stupid and dumb? Again, your comment proves that you a pathetic, jelous, sorry loser! If you were srewed by Gano, just get over it! If your kid was screwed by Gano, he probably deserved it if he is anything like you. I have seen you on this blog for months preaching the same thing about Gano. So...What are you going to do about it? Nothing...right? Then get over it and get off the blog and do something about it! What an IDIOT!!

My son played with the kids that won the National Championship. At the time they were huge for their age. Since then most did not grow much..my point..playing Jr. all-american football is much different than playing high school football! In addition, as these kids started getting older, they also started having more problems in school, as a result not being eligible to play high school football. Just a thought.

If you look over the last eight years of Gano’s teams on average 75% of his varsity starters are from out of area. Our local youth organization send teams to national championships and then the kids go to LA and no longer know how to play football.

I love how people can say that gano doesnt recruit. I have heard frome some kids themselves that gano recruited them. Ive also heard about the meetings with the coaches, and parents of those star players at the dennys on 7th in hacienda heights. Now everyone can say that yes Gano has won multiple championships but its all talent. Look at this year enough talent on the team even with the injurys but doesnt get a single win in league. Ive also heard from players how Gano doesnt even practice with his second team. Thats why hes a bad coach. only tries to develop his second unit when the season has started, and its too late to do anything thats bad coaching.

Like I said everyone recruits. Gano talks about loyalty to the program, where is the loyalty from the program to the kids. Gano turns his back to the loyal kids that have worked their way through his system. Brings in a recruit, and don't even give the returning player a chance to compete, that is where Gano has gone wrong. That is where Gano has crossed the line, and that is why he has the last 4 freshmen teams with 9-1 records and weak team next year.

The number one problem in football in Southern California is we have teachers has head coaches of varsity football teams. We need to hire Head Coaches to Coach Football Teams and teachers to teach, because they sure can't coach (GANO).

GRI

It's call gamesmenship. And it's also a way of opening the door for the potential disgruntled player to come take a looksee.

I like it.

Those are sour grapes my friend and you know it. Okay Gano recruits...so what? Call the cops. hurrrrryyy lol

Just be happy someone believes you so you're not insignificant anymore....opps.... TOO LATE...who are you?

Like I said talking out of your a**, if you are going to try and sell someone on the idea a school has a great education because one of the kids at it got a full scholarship your as stupid as Gano. Kids get scholarships at Bassett High, does that mean you get a great education at Bassett. If you are also going to try and tell everyone out their Gano doesn't recruit your are dumber than I thought.

The reality of it is everyone recruits, some more than other. Gano is the number one recruiter in the Valley. Gano relies on recruiting and doesn’t develop his underclassmen, so they quit or transfer out. The real core of Gano’s issues is his coaching staffs. If they worked on coaching as hard as they did recruiting he would be in great shape for the next three years. He has some of the weakest coaches in the valley that is proven by those four 9-1 freshmen teams and no talent coming back next year. Look at last years freshmen team 9-1 and it was all talent no coaching.

I would love to hear from a Gano Ban Wagoner as to why Gano would come on this blog and tell everyone “doesn't have much coming back next season”. Don’t forget Gano's last four freshmen teams have gone 9-1, yet Gano continues to state, that he has his weakest teams ever returning next year. A great coach like Gano and the last four freshman teams going 9-1, you would think CIF championships for the next two three years.

LETS SEE IF GANO IS A RECURITER OR A COACH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gano's recruiting Incorportated.

You heard me right..Great Education, my nephew was offered and accepted a full scholarship to one of the top Universities in California if not in the Nation! And guess who helped him?? Your best buddy Gano! Talking out of your a** is what I have seen you do for months on this blog. Get over it. Gano does not recruit..kids go to him because of the program he runs and his success record.

Quit complaining already!

Your kid isn't on this list, GET OVER IT ALREADY!

Congratulations to those players which made this All CIF list. You are the best of the best. As someone stated earlier, there are a lot of ALL this and ALL that lists, but the most prestigious of them all is ALL CIF. Whether you like it or not. No list is all reaching or infallible. There are politics in all lists. In the end, the ALL CIF patch is the grand daddy of them all as it has always been.

?,

"great education"
Please don't talk out of your a**, at Los Altos you will get a good education for the area. If you are looking for a great education go to Bishop Amat.

"best opportunities for your kids."
I agree with you 100%, best opportunities for your kids. You need to do what is best for your kids.

Gano and staff are great recruiter, end of story.

Have you even seen Gano talk football with a well respected football coach, the answer is no and you will never see it happen. He has been requested to talk at multi coaching clinics and continues to turn down the requests. He continues to apply for other head coaching jobs and continues to get rejected. The man can't talk football because he doesn’t know football.

Honestly Gano couldn't coach him self out of a paper bag, with two holes in the bag.

Gano's recruiting Incorporated:

Stop hating Gano! He has done more for the kids than you and one hundred other guys like you will do in 100 life times! You are hating life because you are not part of his program. My nephew moved to Hacienda Heights just to play for Gano and in the process received a great education! There is nothing wrong with looking and finding the best opportunities for your kids.

my bad, of course I ment among us local teams.

All is not lost, it's not recruiting time. Gano and I have been in closed door meeting. I thought Gano was going to fire me, after that mess this year. He told me that we have lots of work this off season, as bad as the team was this year it looks worse next year. We are shopping for another QB,RB,C,T,G,TE,DE,WR,C,etc. You know what why don't I give you the list of what we don't need it is much smaller _

man i wish that giy ganorecruitinginc. would come back he was a great guy 4 the truth

Coach P. for president

the pac-5 is the toughest division in southern california.........

Representing Miramonte League was Farrer from Charter Oak;

Charter Oak 10-2-1
Diamond Ranch 7-3
Wilson 6-6
Bonita 5-6
Los Altos 4-6

Representing San Antonio League was Bogan from South Hills

South Hills 10-3
West Covina 6-6
Rowland 3-8
Nogales 2-8
Walnut 1-9

Gano as member of the Advisory Committee for football in the CIF-SS

Now from our area 17 kids were selected

Farrer got 6 of his players from Charter Oak

Bogan got 8 of his players from South Hills

Gano got 2 of his players from Los Altos

Then we got the token West Covina player Isaac Tucker

O yea 16 of the 17 kids are from West Covina and Covina the only one not being from the two cities is Ray Rodriguez, from Los Altos, Nick Longoria is from West Covina. By the way where did Gano go to High School, I hear he went to West Covina High class of 1977 and he still lives with his parents in West Covina. We have over 10 cities in our two leagues and 16 of the players came out of two of those cities.

Rgd2626 at that poker game, you know the one that Gano and the Charter Oak coaching staff was at, did Gano win a few All CIF selections.

Don, with those numbers why do you think the HCs and Bogan in particular kept Wells off the team?

Would love to hear from the South Hills Boosters and Fans but really Don can you take a crack at that question? I thionk it has to do with the "mercenary" aspect of his tenure at SH.

Also Fred I know these are the AREA players but where can we get the FULL list. I find it hard to believe any RB could make the squad as a full time RB and avg. 80 yards a game over 12 games and be considered BEST in any DIVISION. Hell I'd go so far as to say I don't think another RB had those bogus stats. No matter the level of competition. 100 yards is the BARE minimum at ANY level for a RB to be considered legit.

The problem I have is that the guys who picked these teams expect us to believe that 33 of the 46 best players in the D are on on four teams. Talent just isn't consolidated like that. It's like saying 14% of the schools have three fourths of the pretty girls, or seven out of 10 of the smart kids, or artists, or musicians, or anything else.

From a statistical base of 1500+ players on 29 teams from five leagues we are supposed to buy off on the top 72% playing in only four programs. What is even more striking is that the folks who selected the SW D group found nearly half the schools lacked even one player worthy of first team notice.

Then we have the guy from So Hills come on here to tell us that Bailey, Bogan, Farrar, and Negro, (with Gano overseeing), picked the teams. Sorry guys, it sounds more like rewarding your own program rather than finding the best players in the Division.

Fred

Will you be covering the football signings on Feb 6, National signing day? Both Dorian Wells and Dominique Austin deserve the attention. The greatest award is the D1 scholarship regardless of what awards are giving by area directors or local committees. Obviously a college scout observations of a high school player holds more weight than the local committees.

Wells got screwed at January 28, 2008 7:03 PM

TOTAL BS...

If anybody got screwed it was Gilmore.. Period.

Miramonte vs. San Antonio.. Really

Stats vs. Stats... Really

Two way performance vs. Two way performance... Really

Enough said...

rgd2626,

You legitimately in your post makes comments that project an image of whining, complaining, excuses, and ultimately pouting! You have been ignorant in the past and that's ok but that's just stupidity on your part to stereotype you hate the entire S.G.V. because of a few others remarks. You say you have lost so much respect for the S.G.V. but you claim your a "lifer" of this Valley and you yourself have been a coach and a mentor of S.G.V. athletes in the past which means you are now a hypocrite too. Now with your extra spare time you have given yourself you can play more cards, bet on more horses, and promote yourself to Gano's campaign manager and President of his fan club. Better yet educate yourself in Language Arts a.k.a. English and take a class on Writing, Grammar, and Typing 101. Good Luck and you were a softball coach so maybe your best friend will hire you and give you a Spring job?! Good luck in your myopic meaningless meager life endeavors...

SAM sorry that blog was intended for "congrats young men" , my bad

SAM

"If", and that's a BIG 'IF," that's true exlain Dorian Wells missing from the selections. I think it has more to do with SH/Bogan rewarding 4 year community players instead of a 1 timers like Wells. Maybe SH knows something about this issue. Wasn't their a QB a couple of year's ago that played/started at QB for LA and Played/Started for SH basebal, IN THE SAME ACADEMIC YEAR? Mc Bride deserves the award if Ray Rodrigez does as well. I seen them both and BOTH were EQUALLY important although I will concede that Ray was worthy based on his 2way status thereby equalling one full season...1/2 on offense and 1/2 on defense.

Wells got screwed as much as Dominique Austin. No matter they are both full ride D1 scholarship winners. It does however really illustrate how dominant Amat players are when put in lower level divisions. Wells and Mc Bride on SH or LA or CO teams and they go UNDEFEATED for the season and win another Championship. Does anyone disagree?

The votes are in and the patches are sent out. No point arguing what won't change but fair is fair.

Don,

You haven't been around the LA program. Gano when recruiting players knows they can play. The real issue is he commits to go with the recruited player, not giving the returning player a chance to compete for the job. Here is another example; the 03’ team had a senior returning quarterback and a junior recruited quarterback from the West Covina area. Gano started the junior quarterback and had the senior quarterback play the second half of the game. It was clear to everyone including Gano that the senior quarterback was the better quarterback. But, Gano’s position on it was that he was preparing the junior quarterback for his senior year. A coaching decision that Gano hasn’t made before the 03’ season and hasn’t done since.

Face it, no award has more merrit than ALL LEAGUE and ALL CIF. These are the only awards where stats, research, fear factor, film and personal observations come together to make a selection.

Thanks Trib for your ALL AREA awards, but honestly, how many area players have your personally seen, how many times, how much film have you studied over and over again, and were you present in every teams strategy meetings prior to games?

No one, but no one knows the capabilities of players more than the coaches.

ALL CIF is the top honor, no matter how you look at it.

From SAM:
“From what I remember that was the deal that Gano made with the father that his son would start the first half of the game and then the senior local kid would clean up the mess that Gano’s junior recruit made in the first half of the game. “
Amazing to me anyone would ASSert in print that a successful HS football Coach bases playing time decisions on agreements he has made with someone's Dad. Maybe time to increase the ginko dosage.

rgd2626

“if gano is bad of a person and la is such a bad place to go to school and play football, then why do athletes like to come and play there”

That is exactly why kids come to play at LA, they don’t have to earn a spot, and they transfer in and are guaranteed a spot.

“you and don talk about the voting geesh, gano didnt even vote, don was saying coaches exchange there votes”

Do you think the people reading this blog are idiots, the representatives for each league is responsible for promoting/selling his leagues players. I will use the example of Gilmore at Wilson, he was the most powerful offensive weapon in the Valley, and Wilson made it to the semi’s on Gilmore’s back. I wonder how much they talked about Gilmore. Then you have Ray Rodriguez, Los Altos gets hurt 5 games into the season, only plays five games of a 10 game season and Ray Rodriguez is in, that’s a JOKE. This award is based on what you do, not what you could have done or who you know. Ray Rodriguez is a great player and is going D1, but no way did he desire to be selected all division, that is GANO playing his usual games. What’s really funny about that is GANO is going to be all over GILMORE trying to get him to transfer over to LA, since they have nothing coming back.

Now you keep talking about the 03’ team. That 03’ team had a junior recruit quarterback by the name of Daniel Sandello. From what I remember that was the deal that Gano made with the father that his son would start the first half of the game and then the senior local kid would clean up the mess that Gano’s junior recruit made in the first half of the game. Then that great junior quarterback lead Gano’s 04 team to a 7-4 record and out in the first round of the playoffs. O yea that is the same father that made the front page of the tribune when he pulled his son out of LA three days after the playoff loss to Aliso Niguel 38-7 in the first round. He then sent him back to South Hills High School (West Covina, again) to finish up his baseball season. As great as that 03’ team was it was Gano recruiting skills not coaching skills that won CIF.

I will leave rgd2626 with one fact that you continue to avoid answering.

Los Altos Freshman Teams
07'-08' 9-1 record
06'-07' 9-1 record
05'-06' 9-1 record
04'-05' 9-1 record

LA has no talent returning next year, where did all this talent go?

If Gano spent as much time coaching as he did recruiting maybe these kids would be ready for varsity ball?

sam
why do you call me a groupie, im very good friends with greg, and to tell you the truth, football doesnt come up very much, then you talk about players transferring in and its to late for returning players to transfer out, think about it, if someone has the time to transfer in then theres time to transfer out.get your facts right, half the kids quit, your ridiculous, if gano is bad of a person and la is such a bad place to go to school and play football, then why do athletes like to come and play there.you dont know greg at all.i understand you though, you are so upset that your son was beat out by someone you blame gano, but show some class and teach your son the right way to act.i have never said anything on here but facts, you and don talk about the voting geesh, gano didnt even vote, don was saying coaches exchange there votes, im very surprised at dons remarks , but is ok everyone has there own opinion, just wish more used facts.
this will be my last blog on here, in fact i wont be reading anyone elses either, ive lost so much respect for the sgv, ill just continue to support the schools i support and watch the games.
good luck with your attitude and hatred, its not worth it.

rgd2626,

First my mistake, but having to do with the facts it makes no difference which one of the two teams Gano was playing cards with.

Second, why do all you LA guys come on this blog and talk so much crap about next years LA team? Four years in a row your freshman teams had a 9-1 record. No other high school in the area has these types of numbers. Now we even have Gano, and his groupies coming on this blog and talk about how weak the LA program is next year. If the incoming seniors only knew how much crap Gano and his groupies talk about them.

With Gano's track record when it comes to recruiting. If I was an incoming senior the way Gano is talking about me I would be watching my back. Here’s how Gano has handled it in the past at LA;

First you’re going to have that conversation with Gano telling you what a great job you did this year. How you are going to be a very important part of his program next year.

Second now he locked you in for your senior year. You start practicing with the team.

Third he brings in the recruits during the summer and now it’s too late for you to transfer out.

Fourth you’re going to get that be loyal to the program speech. Problem is the program aka Gano has no loyalty to the student athletic. Half the kids stay on and the other half quite.

Fifth you set on the bench your senior year and think about what could have been.

The life of a student athletic at Los Altos High School

sam
again crap comes out your mouth.
i never said gano plays cards with south hills coaches,i said there were charter oak people there, never said charter oak coaches, and there werent . again your stupidity and your jealousy come out,
don,
never knew you cried so much, if you believe coaches tell each other you vote for mine ill vote for yours, then you really dont know how it works.how can you say you respect gano, bogan, farrar, then say this about them.and you never responded, you said you saw la play twice, are you gonna tell me ray and bryce arent two of the top players in the valley? you will have your day next year, im sure wc will win easily against la,

NO WELLS

Maybe some don't agree that Wells was POY?

You have a team Los Altos that had a 4-6 record. You have a player that played 5 games all year make this team. You have a player that his own bloggers are saying he is the top 3 and top 5 linemen in league. Both these guys make all division. What does that say about our division?

James Escarcega the varsity assistant coaches at South Hills didn't help his argument bring out the facts on how the team was put together. He gave everyone the proof that they were looking for.

The coaches of the successful programs take care of their kids. What I don't understand is how does a coach that has a 4-6 record get involved in the process.

On top of that we rgd2626 advising us that Gano plays cards with South Hills coaches. Shortly after that game of cards these coaches are voting on the all division team.

Out of 17 spots these two teams get 10 of them. I am sorry to say there is no way that these two kids from LA desire to be on this team. Kids don't get put on the All Division team for what they might have done. Kids don't get put on the All Division team for being the 3rd or 5th best player at their spot in their league. But I guess kids to get put on the team if their coach is involved in the election process.

Great Job GANO?

I new Gano had to be involed.

Hey Don, would the list be any different if they were made up of the 2 last place teams in each division? Is anyne more qualified than let's say Chino and Diamond Bar in chosing the Best players in the league?

I think having the winning coaches puts too much pressure them. Look at Wells non selection. Where is the loyalty to his contributions? Maybe the list is incomplete but NO WELLS? The SGV TRIBUNE POY? Maybe Bogan rewarded the 4 year South Hills players instead of the one and done Wells. That's pretty bad if it's true but then again I understand the pressure. Well I'd take POY over CIF because there is only 1 POY and too many ALL CIF players selected.

Nothing like a cogent argument to make a point, don't you agree?

don is a little whiner. need a crying towel donny boy?

You've gotta love these guys when they really don't get it.

“For instance, in the Southwest Division, the coaches were Bogan for SH, Farrer from CO, Jason Negro from Trabuco Hills, Jeff Bailey from El Dorado and two assistants from Bellflower who represented the Suburban league”
Surprising then, that these four coach's teams accounted for over 75% of the kids picked.

“At the meeting, the coaches makes his pitch for the players from their league and when the voting occurs, he is prohibited from voting on any players from his league.”
This is known as electioneering; in other words, “I'll vote for your kid if you vote for mine”. Something taken for granted in say, little league, but one assumes the “all cif” selection process would rise above it.

“I can safely tell you that when the meeting was over, everyone was happy with the selection process was done. Coach Gano oversaw everything, since he is a member of the Advisory Committee for football in the CIF-SS, and was pleased when the night was over.”
Now we know how Gano managed twice as many players as El Modena, West Covina, Foothill, El Toro, Canyon, Bellflower, or Brea Olinda.

“Congraulations to all the players that are first-team CIF players...it s a tremendous honor....”
We are on the same page at last, I send my congrats to all who made the team, it is indeed a great honor.

My problem has never been whether these guys were deserving, only whether they were THE MOST DESERVING.

Being a AMAT fan, i do wonder why Dorian Wells isn't on the list for what he did this year at South Hills. His exit from AMAT may have been a little uneasy, but the kid is a player and did good things this year...

Good luck at Villanova, kid.

Hello..my name is James Escarcega and I am one of the varsity assistant coaches at South Hills HS. First off, congratulations to all the players were first team all-cif selections...it's a great honor for all the hard work that they put in...

There seems to be a misunderstanding when it comes to the voting for an all-cif team and let me be the guy that fills in the blanks.

The all-cif team from a particular division is put together by coaches from the winning leagues that are in that division. For instance, in the Southwest Division, the coaches were Bogan for SH, Farrer from CO, Jason Negro from Trabuco Hills, Jeff Bailey from El Dorado and two assistants from Bellflower who represented the Suburban league...

When they vote they have a ballot that is made of players that were top vote getters from the all-league ballots at that position and if there is space left at that position other deserving players....At the meeting, the coaches makes his pitch for the players from their league and when the voting occurs, he is prohibited from voting on any players from his league. For instance, when it comes time to vote for the running backs Bogan can will talk about Dorian Wells and the other players from his league, but when the voting starts, in secret ballot, he can not vote for anyone from the San Antonio League...and BTW, Dorian was a first team All-CIF selection...

When all the ballots are counted, their is a designated person who is not voting that will count the votes and then announces the results....in the case for the last two years, its been Dominic Farrer from CO and yours truly....

Our philosophy has been that we wanted to make sure that the most deserving players make the first team. There are instances where that is tough. For instance, the running back position was very tough...but the coaches voted and the results speak for themselves...

I can safely tell you that when the meeting was over, everyone was happy with the selection process was done. Coach Gano oversaw everything, since he is a member of the Advisory Committee for football in the CIF-SS, and was pleased when the night was over.

This process occurs in every division. So to say that coaches are trying to screw over kids in this process in totally wrong. Each coach does a great job in talking about their kids they are nominating and the voting is done among guys who watch film and can evaulate a kid objectively.

Congraulations to all the players that are first-team CIF players...it s a tremendous honor....

It is nice to see the all you glendora people get all excited about getting to the second round at CO expectations are set higher than you whiners

Fred:

Will the tribune being doing a piece on these SGV players making All Area Football Team 2007?

They have worked very hard and deserve alot of credit.....

Coach P must have done something right:

1) Tartans #1 in Sierra League (5-0)
2) Tartans pass the 1st round of playoffs in the toughest socal division.
3) 5 Tartans named to LA84 (All CIF) in the toughest division (no other Sierra League players selected)
4) Coach P selected SL coach of the year
5) Coach P selected Tribune Coach of the year

Need I say more. Thanks MTC for your unwavering support this season. We coudn't of done it without you.:) At least we won't have to sit through all the MTC's "I told you so's".

Let's take an informal vote:

1) "I SURVIVED MIKE THE CLONE" (BUTTONS) (T-SHIRT)

2)" "PROUD GLENDORA BUTTONWEARER (T-SHIRT) (BUTTON)

IT'S ALL FREE. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS SCHOOL PRIDE.

MADE IN THE USA (TAKING ORDERS NOW)

GLENDORA "PRIDE OF THE FOOTHILLS"

thanks son now go get me another beer!

STILL AN IDIOT FAN come back when you are sober and make sense.

HEY ANYONE ELSE THINK THAT 'MIKE THEIDIOT IS AN IDIOT' SOUNDS A LOT LIKE THE BIG LOSER, I MEAN THE BIG GUY,I MEAN ARAM?? SURE DOES TO ME, I THINK HE WAS SO FAR UP PARTS OF MTC'S BODY, BUT ONLY BECAUSE HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT SPORTS. JUST ASK 99% OF PASKY'S PAST PLAYERS HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT HIM - THAT IS ALL THE PROOF YOU NEED. MTC IS A OLD, HAS-BEEN THAT NEVER QUITE MADE IT AND NO ONE CAN KNOW AS MUCH AS HE DOES1 HOLLA

anyone else think MIKE THE IDIOT IS AN IDIOT sounds like the big losa -- i mean the big guy.. you know, aram - who knew way less than mtc, therefore cowardlessly agreed and jumped on mtc's wagon. so clever aram.... IDIOT IS BRILLIANT AND SO RIGHT ON...PRINT THAT ON A BUTTON, I'LL WEAR IT!!! PASQY IS AN UNBELIEVABLE COACH AND JUST ASK MOST OF THE KIDS THAT HAVE PLAYED FOR HIM!!!!!

As abrasive as Mike the Clone may be, I have never read from him a personal attack on Coach Pasquarella.

Mike the Idiot since you are open for suggestions here is one for you
SHUT UP BEFORE MTC COMESBACK AND MAKES YOU LOOK MORE FOOLISH THAT WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE HERE.
The guy has a opinion and is entitled to it, JUST LIKE YOU.
We "get it" you are a ass kissing nut job who hates Mike the Clone and your great season is what you are crowing about.
WHOOPPPIEEE! Next year it will What have you done fopr me latley PASKIE and you will be a NON FACTOR. So blow your bagpipe loud Mike the Idiot because thats exactly what you are a button wearing IDIOT.

Here's the thing with Mike the Clone vs. the Buttonwearers

Mike the Clone is getting his a$$ kissed for trying to be smarter and more important than the Head Coach. By the way it will never happen. If he succeeds than Mike the Clone is only successful in propping up his own ego and nothing more.

The Buttonwerers on the other hand want their kids and coach to know they have their unwavering support. If they are successful then the SCHOOL, PLAYERS, COACHES, PARENTS and COMMUNITY have created a positive example of coming together for the greater good. And so much more!

What good will Mike the Clone ever accomplish by his second guessing and immature adult putdowns of proud parents, Alumni and home grown Glendorians. Nothing! Every suggestion he made regarding the technique or direction of Coach P methods were proved W.R.O.N.G. Thnks for your help MIke ---but it wasn't needed.

If admiring a coach for having integrity, building something from the ground up and increasing community pride is the moral equivilent of cutting someone else's grass than I'll wear my grass stained sneakers with pride. This season's success only illustrates that Coach P NEVER needed ANY help from Mike or his overblown ego.

I'll supply the Glendora Athletic Department with 500 "I survived MIKE THE CLONE" and will sit back and witness a sea of support that might shrink that ridiculous ego of Mike's. I thought T-Shirts would better, "I'M A PROUD GLENDORA BUTTONWEARER!" in Back with red and white lettering but guessing sizes would be too involved. Either way I'll pay for the priviledge of shuting up that Romite. I'm open to suggestions though. I would like as a show of appreciation a picture of Coach P opening the box when it gets to his office! Priceless!

I'll encourage the Glendora Buttonwearers to wear their pride over their hearts (buttons) and T-shirts around town. Maybe then Mike will see the Glendora light!

That's how you get "RACKED" ----Medevil style!

Mike you lost your Glendora priviledges" (Apologies to Pulp Fiction Director Quentin Tarantino)

I SURVIVED MIKE THE CLONE OR I'M A PROUD GLENDORA BUTTON WEARER? (ONE FEEDS HIS EGO THE OTHER REFUTES IT) I'LL GO WITH THE LATTER!

Mike the idiot IS a IDIOT

Its MTC supporters like your which make MTC shutter in embarrasment and fear to return to the blog.

Keep it up and maybe we will never hear again from the clone.

tyler perri the only junior in the southwest div coming back .. watch him next year

RACK'EM

Hey Mike the Clone,
I know you could careless about that Mike the Idiot but I thought you would like to know that I just saw him mowing his idol PasKy's yard and carrying mrs P's groceries into the house.
What a backside kisser that guy was.
Mike the idiot you will crawl back into the hole you live in when your God Pasky goes back to being a one and done so so coach next year. He will be a great coach when he hangs a banner and consistently gets to the big show.Like the Cahrter Oaks and South Hills of the world Until then he is just a good coach and not a great coach as the Clone has pointed out many of times to buttonwears just like you.
All hail Mike the Idiot king of the buttonwearers hey idiot thank for making the Clones points and bringing back to light all of Paskies short-comings.You make me wanna puke.
Hey MTC miss ya and the ego and the Glendora reality checks. And say hi to Monica to.

YOUR NAME HERE

Don't understand your rant on Vega. All CIF is broken down by Divison. Other than McMahon DHS, all the other names on your post are not Inland Div. Vega lead the the Tartans to a 1st place finish in SL. We all know what happened to Damien.

The list is a good one. My only complaint about it is there should have been even more Glendora names. Where's Mcgarry, Sefton, Nichols, Ect...

Fred:

Just pulled this off the LA Times site after calling CIF. If certificate are presented to the players, how will they read?

All-Southern Section football teams finally released.

Irvine University Coach Mark Cunningham has been so kind as to e-mail us the All-Southern Section football teams, which are picked by division and by the coaches in those divisions, along with a promise that next year's teams will be delivered before winter vacation.

Because it's not up on the section's website just yet, so here's the all-star list in its entirety:

2007 ALL-SOUTHERN SECTION FOOTBALL TEAMS

CONGRATS TO JONATHAN MENDOZA ON A GREAT SEASON!

MCMAHON BEHIND THE GLENDORA LINE? NICO BARBONE BEHIND THE GLENDORA LINE? GILMORE BEHIND THE GLENDORA LINE? MC BRIDE BEHIND THE GLENDORA LINE? WELLS BEHIND THE GLENDORA LINE? WAGNER BEHIND THE GLENDORA LINE? SNOWDEN BEHIND THE GLENDORA LINE? GET THE PICTURE?

ENOUGH WITH THE WINNER GETTING THE SPOILS PARADE. BEST MEANS BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE AT YOUR POSITION NOT OKAY WHO PLAYED ON THE TEAM WITH THE BEST RECORD?

That's the Pittsbur Steelers agruement. "How many players on those great '70's teams can they put into the Hall of Fame ? Answer all that deserve it! Great season but best in his division? Vega's not even top 3 in the San Gabriel Valley? Or am I missing something?

1) Mc Bride SH
2) Wells LA
3) Gilmore WHS
4) Barbone SDHS
5)McMahon DHS
6)Snowden CO
7) Wagner BA
8)Vega GHS

Top 4 are interchangeable. Question- which player on that list does Vega start in front of? Answer n.o.n.e. CIF, ALL AREA, ALL SIERRA League 1st Team, ALL CIF and now this? Coooooommmeee onnnnnn!

this is not jr all american football or the special olympics where every kid gets the same award or trophy most of you people live in this world where the air doesnt move and you think your kids a star i love these teams (cif, all valley, all leauge) because it brings dads back to reality were sorry to break it to you pissed off dads but your son is not the next tom brady or brian urlacher

the southwest division is right on and ill tell you why

CHARTER OAK-undefeated in leauge 2 years running, senior heavy group they should actually have more names up there

LOS ALTOS-mcbride and rodriguez would have been offenseive and def mvp's had they stayed healthy and would of pushed CO, by putting them up there it makes this part of the valley look a little more legit and as for longoria top 3 overall linemen in the miramonte leauge

SOUTH HILLS-see charter oak ^

BONITA-no imposing figure on your team you get beat by san dimas and worked in the 1st round??? you dont deserve anybody

WILSON-gilmore had a big game aginst mayfair...o ya so did 10 other running backs

SOUTHEAST DIV- i dont know anything about you your small time

PAC 5- who none from bishop amat? is he back next year?? hahaha

NORTHWEST DIV-see southeast div ^

INLAND DIV-all those names from glendora could play there lucky they got that mnay on there in that loaded divison

Fred:

This is simply a name change. The process has always been done by the foundation, but the foundation used the "All CIF" title and now its LA 84.

I agree it doesn't sound the same, but CIF claims they were not invovled in the decisions.

Stanford Alum, in no way was my comment meant to diminish the award. I said the title was lame, not the accomplishment. CIF washed their hands with this award because every time they put out a list, they would get tons of phone calls from angry people wanting explanations why so and so wasn't on the team. So they did the easy thing, farmed is out to another association and let them deal with it. What's a guy supposed to put on his letterman jacket, "L.A. 84 Foundation Team Awards as selected by the Football Coaches Advisory Committee, Southwest Division first-team." The accomplishment is the same, but now you leave it up to the kids to explain what they've won, where before, A CIF-first team award needed no explanation.

dywtk,
geesh, i allmost forgot, a prograstinator??? that tells me me you lie, you didnt talk to anyone that knows me. im totally the opposite - 100 percent. so next time bring facts .

dywtk,
lets see. last year i went to the horse races ONE time all year, so you tell me if that makes me a horseplayer, and as for cards, lets see, i last played new years day, before that, mmm i think 3 times all last year, by the way, we could allways use another player !! but i dont know if you can sit at the same table with gano and i.by the weay, our last game at my house, 3 of us from los altos, 5 from charter oak, yes i said charter oak.just another thing people dont know about gano.
cant we all get along ?? we do !!!

Congrats to all the players who made the list. However, someone needs to review and revamp again that system. Clearly some good players were left off the list. No Dorian Wells ? and is Damien in the SGV? I could "MAYBE" understand why no Pac 5 players from this area (only Amat) was selected due to the fact that the Pac 5 division is simply "LOADED" with D1 caliber prospects across the board and the selection process could be tough. I'm interested in seeing how many local players on this list will be signing letters on National football signing day ? Maybe the new committee needs to checked and research out Rivals.com or Scout.com HS Football sites. There's alot of players from our area who are mentioned on those sites.

Stanford Alum how about the players decide?

FRED:

Please explain yourself a little further..

Why is this a lame title? Shouldn't all these great kids be proud of their accomplishments regardless of what the title is now?

Should CIF have a better voice than the coaches or the other way around? We simply don’t live in a perfect world, and I am trying to understand your thoughts here.

There seems to be so much debate about your list (SGV), Jamie’ list, CIF List? Or now LA 84 list…

What’s the best solution?

rgd2626,

I heard not only do you like to play cards but you also like to play the horses. Some have even gone as far as calling you a "prograstinator" is that true? Are you really that good at your favorite hobby/trade whatever you want to call your part time job?

SAM

Once again..stop being an LA hater!!

Dominique Austin gets a full ride to Arizona and he's not on the list?

Explain that?

Nothing but a bunch of whiners here. You people think you know more than the coaches? Give me a break.

You guys cry about the all cif list, but tell me who does not deserve to be on this list? These are the best of the best players no question about that. I'll take these players for my team over any other list which has been produced those far.

This list represents the coachs picks, most of the nominations were from coaches other than their own. Come on, can you get more honest pics? The coaches reviewed films all year and last year. Who has had a better look at the players!

Don I could not agree more. 35 players from 4 schools? Give me a break. Too bad. When there are only 11 offensive and 11 defensive players plus a kicker and punter for a 30 team division that's called honesty. Look at the Sierra League votes from the past 2 years. The ALL LEAGUE selections are suppose to be from the LEAGUE games. THAT'S IT! Yet the favorites always get the spoils. Win league and get the most slots...why? On this list as well. 1st team RBs don't rush for less than 1000 yards no matter who's in the backfield with them. Think Dickerson and James at SMU. Both ran for over 1000+ yards. 12 games and less than 1000 yards?

When I played the starting NG torn a tricep in his right arm during preseason and played Strong Tackle for LEAGUE games only! Made All League and All CIF 1st team in four league games. Rey Mero was simply dominating at his new position just like he was dominating at NG. It was an honor to play next to him at Strong Guard and hear player after player grunt in pain and quit before the game was over. 4 games All CIF and a new position, does it get better than that? Yup, we didin't even make the playoffs! Better yet it was something else to see the vanquished players (they used more than one, acknowledge the beatings after the game. "Good game, you're a great player" is all that's necessary. No trash talking. Game over.

That's what I judge a player on. His ability to make other players quit, coaches shake their hand after the game and for them to walk off the field , regardless of the score, and to know they are walking off the field as ones on the best players..week in week out, play in play out. In the end it's what you do against the best that matters. Case in point Addison Bachman. Anyone see his last game knows why he's the only offensive lineman that made the squad. Never seen him donimated all year long but did see him make alot of people quit. Finally someone appreciates his talent and toughness without much fanfare or preseason cred. So to Addison, the big curly from my Glendora Spring Ball Preview...you're the best! Finally.

Nice take Don. As usual.

don
im not here to argue with you, like i said i tru
