Should Parisi coach high school kids again?

| | Comments (2) |

Read this story from the Pasadena Star-News on former Arcadia High baseball coach Mike Parisi, who was fired in 2003 after being arrested on drug charges. Those chargers were later dropped in a plea agreement, and now he's back in the San Gabriel Valley, taking over at Pasadena High School. There's no doubting his baseball credentials. In four years at Arcadia he had an 87-21 record and won four league titles. He was a Star-News coach of the year and played at Cal State Fullerton. But the question is, does he deserve a second chance?

SGV Observer has it right. Tony has been dating too many blondes. Parisi has more baggage than Paris (!) Hilton.

I agree with getting a second chance, but 3rd, 4th and 5th. Do you think his contract was not renewed because he was playing the stereo too loud? Not forgeting how he turn his back on his former players by having them kicked out of the CIF playoffs. Too bad he had to come back to the Pacific League, we were just healing from his first time around!

Yes, you definitely did post that back then observer. He was only a candidate at that time. It didn't become official until during the last week.

What a great pick up for pasadena... he'll find some great talent on campus and bring pasadena to the forefront. This will be a interesting 2008 season.

Parisi was also one of the best pure basketball players the SGV has ever seen. He averaged 25 points a game and had a chance to play at a top D1 program but chose baseball instead and did well as he won a national chamioship at fullerton and took out nomar garicaparra of g-tech.
