Who's lying? Clemens or McNamee
Steve Ramirez walked in the office this morning and said, "I believe Roger." I'm still not sure, though Clemens' interview on 60 minutes was persuasive. I still don't know how steroids makes a pitcher better? Maybe it helps with longevity, but a pitcher has to make pitches, not just throw hard. In any case, I can't wait until Clemens and McNamee square off in Washington. If it ends up that Clemens is lying, he'll never make the Hall of Fame after the campaigning he's doing now. That's why I'm inclined to believe Clemens. But is he really willing to take a lie-detector test? And what did McNamee and Clemens say during their phone conversation last week? You know someone secretly recorded that conversation, right? Well, don't be surprised when someone comes out with it. Enough of this, what do you think?

More on Clemens ... Clemens filed a defamation lawsuit against his former trainer on Monday, saying Brian McNamee falsely accused him of using performance-enhancing drugs only after he was "threatened with criminal prosecution if he did not implicate Clemens" to federal investigators.
But an attorney for McNamee said Monday that his client was not pressured by federal investigators to name Clemens but that McNamee told Clemens’ people that he was pressured.
"He lied to them and tried to say, ’Well, they pressured me,’ because he wanted to continue to stay in the good graces of Roger," the attorney Earl Ward said in a telephone interview.
Ward was present during the day of questioning by federal investigators in June, which was described in a lawsuit Clemens filed Sunday. Ward said McNamee will also say, under oath, he was not pressured.

touche....touche mean machine.. well said
Sometimes it just seems a little wierd. How many people have commented on Barry Bonds head and shoe size as proof of steriod use and then I see this melon head Clemens and I see what all the noise was about. Boy has anyone seen Roger's Rookie Card? Bonds was being crucified for his accomplishments ...why past the normal man's prime but in the shadows of Sosa, Bonds, Belle, Palmero, Canseco and (fill in the blank) were athletes like Romanoski, Clemens, Gagne, Boone, McQwire, Giambi and many many others. Seems like a double standard somewhere in there.
My hats off to Nolan Ryan and Hank Aaron. These men are the gifted ones. God doesn't give that kind of athletic longevity to many but a select few. Why America chooses to demonize some athletes and not others is why we are in the state we're in....screwed.
Let's agree that Barry Bonds is no worse than many many players of this instant muscle generation...science has thrumped God given talent and hard work. Barry Bonds is guilty of nothing more than being a bad interview....in light of what Canseco termed "sports little secret"...Steriods, HGH, "clear" whatever...it's all the same...cheating the game. But in a generation that coined the phrase.."If you're NOT cheating...you're NOT trying!" What do you expect.
Same goes for the New England Patriots....C.H.E.A.T.E.R.S. plain and simple....Someone should test Junior Seau...no one and I mean NO ONE is that fast, that strong and THAT BIG at his position for that many years...even if you're Samoan! Good thing he's unretired from the Chargers and found a home with the Head Cheater..opps..Head Coach Bellicheck...16-0 my butt!
It's what happens to alot of high school athletes nowadays...Look at them before the season starts...METREX, suplements ect.. Is it any wonder? Last year I spoke with Aram and he said as much when discussing a couple of "stars" that went no where....."Rumor was ...steriods were involved and recruiters backed off" Now look how many high school athletes are having "old man" injuries...bad backs, bad hips, ect. Bodies by Adonis (GNC) before and durring football season and them POOOF...muscles gone after the season is over...incredible.
I got to give Dominque Austin's Dad alot of credit. Everyone kept telling him to put weight on DA.(I.E. ...supplements, GNC whatever) But he always said the same thing..."No , the colleges will put him on a weight and nutrition program...NO STERIODS, NO SUPPLEMENTS" DA is going to Arizona on a full ride...the right way...technique, fundamentals, grades, character and hard work. Too bad too many athletes look for a short and then come up empty.
Best of luck to all high school athletes....enjoy the ride, have some fun, learn about yourself and trust your body...God doesn't make junk. The lesson here is ...If you want something bad enough....some people will do ANYTHING! On the other hand ...do your best with what God has given you and you never know what can happen....rememeber Joey Gerathall (sp) from Amat/Notre Dame or Ron Cuccia from Wilson/Harvard? End of rambling...I hate cheaters...that and bad coaching. (bad as in lacking integrity)

Like most of you, I am so sick of these athletes letting us down and the real shame is that it puts a question mark over everybody and anybody nowadays. Like Politicians i am starting to trust NO ONE. plain and simple - too much money too much greed too much corruption. again - sad state of affairs
Clemens is guilty. If he wanted to exonerate himself during the phone conversation, he certainly blew it by not calling McNamee a Liar straight to his face. Besides, McNamee under penalty of perjury would have nothing to gain and more to lose by lying under oath in fingering Clemens as a steroids abuser, unless, of course he was saving his own skin. What a tavesty.
I really disliked the fact that Clemons and his lawyer taped this converstion without telling Brian McNamee. He first called to talk about Brian's ill son who has sprue a digestive malabsortion disorder. He tried to make McNamee sound like bad and knew he was in a bad frame of mine with his ill son and his name coming out against his good friend. I am a physician and B12 is given to treat B12 vitamin defiency or Pernicious anemia. Lidocaine or other similiar type of injections are given with some steriod and usually injected directly into the joints by a physician. You do not inject Lidocaine directly IM. After his statement about these 2 drugs given to him by his trainer I feel Roger is lying. Early in his career I do believe that he was a not taking any preforming enhancing drugs however after his 40's like Bonds he needed something to keep him going. I did not like the vailed threat that if Brian came to Texas his family may cause him some harm typical Clemons way of reacting to things.
I heard that tape too, and it did more to damage Clemens that vindicate him. Clemens had McNamee on the phone with a real chance to clear his name. If Clemens is innocent and McNamee made all this up to avoid jail time, then why didn't Clemens go right after him and ask why he lied. I would have said, "Mac, you know I never used steroids? Why would you lie about me after everything I did for you and your family.? McNamee asked Roger a thousand times, "What do you want me to do?" and Clemens struggled to simply say, "Tell everyone the truth, that you lied about me." McNamee asked Clemens if he wanted him at the press conference, and Clemens' response was that he feared for "McNamee's" safety because his own family is so upset with him? C'mon, I would have flown McNamee to the press conference myself if I thought he was ready to tell the truth and vindicate me. I want to believe Clemens as much as anyone, but it's real hard after that strange phone conversation. And the problem is, if McNamee comes forward now, people are going to say he only did it because of his relationship with Clemens. If Clemens is truly innocent, he had his chance to prove it on the call, but he blew it.
..today, at the news conference they played the taped conversation... from what i heard of it, it did nothing to clear clemens, but rather made the situation more suspect...
THE TAPED CONVERSATION CAME OUT DURING THE CLEMENS NEWS CONFERENCE
I HEARD IT ON ESPN RADIO
Clemens is guilty as hell. Do you really think a trainer who shoots up him doesnt know what kind of drugs he is giving him? What kind of trainer would ever admit giving something to anyone without knowing what he's giving him? Ramirez you are dead wrong on this one pal!
Clemens is lying... last I checked, he hasn't been criminally charged with any crime, so this innocent until proven guilty is a crock... Clemens knows, unlike the BALCO case, that it's pretty much his word against McNamee's. And, unlike Barry Bonds, who's facing Federal Obstruction of Justice and Perjury, Bonds criminally will innocent until proven guilty... and since I'm not gonna be on his jury, and having read "Book of Shadow's", Bonds is guilty too... (but technically innocent still)
What did McNamee have to gain? Petitte admitted he used them after McNamee implicated him. Clemens should do the same and stop this sherade. He's lying his butt off! B-12 and Lynocain? What did he think McNamee was a doctor? It doesn't even make sense.
As Roger pointed out it is guilty before proven innocent in this country. Roger was all over the place and was very close to a major meltdown. He is guilty as they all are that are on the list. What makes Roger Clemons the exception. He is not opn that list for nothing.
why would mcnamee implicate clemens if some part wasn't true? I get to save his own a** but lying so blatantly, is that worht a whole other set of problems?? not sure who to believe anymore AND THAT IS THE REALLY SAD PART.
Innocent until proven guilty in this country my friend.
Roger Clemens is lying, he was way too tense for me and that spell guilt. I always thought of Roger Clemens as one of the greatest players and liked him as a player throughout his professional career but I am of a different opinion now. He would have been better off just saying he did them without the knowlege that they were steroids. Asked about a lie detector in the interview and he say yes to it but hesitantly. I believe my once favorite pitcher has shamed himself and MLB. Say it aint so Rog. but it seems like all indicator point to your involvement in them. Like Barry you can run but you cannot hide.
