Boys Basketball: Glendora rallies, 56-53

He's Greaaaaat: Tiger-Cortes overcome with emotion after Tartans win in overtime.

Vintage Glendora! Ramirez tells me Glendora trailed El Toro by ten points with five minutes left, then trimmed it to 50-47 when Mr. Smooooth, Dominic Tiger-Cortes, drained a 3-pointer with two seconds left to send it into overtime, and you know what happened after that. Another LeDuc masterpiece. Is this the year Tartans fans? You've got four, how about one for the thumb.

I had a chance to see JW this winter over at the Covina tourn, and while they didnt seem to have any problem with a pretty undisciplined Los Altos team I do see them having trouble with the VERY disciplined and Very well coached Glendora team, a win here by the tartans woulndt surprise me one bit. LEDUC COACH of the year CORTES player of the year, no contest

Please tell me someone anyone has given this young man from Glendora the respect he has earned and deserves because like they say a picture tells a thousand words and I would be honored and proud to say that is my son and/or teammate!

Fred,

What do you know about JW North? I hear they have a stud who's going to UCLA and is a McD's All-american. Is that right? Should pose another large hill for the Tartans to climb. I'm getting out the Google map to see how to get there like a large number of faithful I'm sure. I think there are some dissapointed students and fans who decided a Tues. night drive to El Toro wasn't quite worth it. Let me tell you...it was!!

i agree with you fan
they played with a lot of passion...they could have won last night...
perris was just too athletic..
they neutralize perris' big guy but the others stepped up.
they should repaet next year..but we have also seen how balanced the san antonio league is
i cant wait...

Nogales had a great year. They won league and made it to the third round of the playoffs. Who would of thunk this happening?!?! I for one did. With the better half of the bunch returning for the Nobles next year, they can only get better because of what their coach is teaching them. I am looking forward to them storming through the San Antonio League once again next year and making it far in the playoffs. Good luck Nobles and good job this season!

THEHenry said:

good job nobles!
gillory scored 27 including 10 in the final frame to lead the comeback attempt
they held perris' top gun kevin young to 14 points . after letting him score 8 in the first quarter, they held him to 6 points the rest of the way
you WILL win it all soon
good luck next year =D

Good points, Wowzer.

Also the staff includes Coach Plutko.

Some great plays tonight from junior Curtis Brothers - a three from the corner towards the end of the game and an important basket from under the rim.

Go Tartans on Friday! You can do it!

Man, that Glendora game was a monster win for the Tartans! They have had some big ones over the years, but this one has to rank up there. An average Tartan team going on the road to beat the #15 team in the STATE in a pretty hostile environment. Not to mention, it was a game that saw Tiger struggle most of the night with his shooting and ballhandling. Others stepped up at big moments like Brothers hitting two big 3's in the middle of the 4th and a big layup in OT. Calvin hitting 2 clutch FT's late in the game, Beckwith with a couple timely steals in OT and all the other bigs (Harsha, Carnajie, Downard) playing tough D while picking up fouls right and left. Their big man was impressive at times, but GT did a solid job on him and he proved a bit soft/shaky down the stretch. Good luck Glendora in the Quarters, whoever you play (I think I heard Riverside north in an upset over Upland?). Also, props to Chino Hills for a big win tonight and making it to the round of 8. All you who whined that the "Sierra is down this year", go eat your words. 2 of 8 and Ayala nearly knocked of Rancho (who advanced tonight as well). I'd say this was in fact a strong year for the Sierra.

Wow, Tonight i saw somthing amazing. Dom lit up the sky and 22 and 21 for El Toro fell asleep. Down the whole game , come back to win.

I said 2 days ago, i would rather have a 500+ win coach on a 19-10 team than a 56-6 on a 26-1

LeDuc, Smith, Smith, Foster, Bryant really stepped up as a coaching core!

GHS... Upland's next (i think)

haha. yup, you got me there joe amat.

sincerely, a current (school that is better than BOTH Pomona college and Occidental) undergrad WHO DID NOT NEED CHARITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION TO HELP ME GET IN, unlike the aforementioned d bag.

apparently 1500s on the old SAT can get you into quite a bit of places... but of course, you wouldn't know such things now would you. :)

silly joe, don't try to talk academics with me when you went to a 4th tier private school. it is quite laughable to say the least.

o and btw, you live in the sgv. touche.

ps. i didn't know louisville (currently 18 in the country) got upset this week in basketball. another evidence of your stupidity (common in the sgv)

Joe Amat said:

On Saturday DavidBrownFromCtown scored 13pts in upsetting the #18 team in the country - both schools that you would have NO chance of being admitted to

Morrison was not fired, and in fact I talked to him last week and he's excited about next season.

AHHHHHH!!! said:

This is bull#$%&!!! How can you guys sit here and read this pathetic crap? Morrison was not fired, and Glendora will not advance! You guys need to get a life, grow up and grab a hold of your pair...if you got some and start living life outside this stupid computer. AHHHHH!!!

Jinger Heighmer said:

I can't believe this. It happened...Coach Scott Morrison of Damien High School was fired today. The rumors had been swirling for months, but we all thought this to be bull. I am so angry I am thinking of pulling my son. Damien just crapped in their hands.

Steve Ramirez will provide quarter-by-quarter updates from the Glendora game tonight
