FREE WILLIE: Muir star running back Willie Youngblood arrested on Tuesday; cleared on Friday

PASADENA - Police went to John Muir High School on Tuesday and arrested star running back Willie Youngblood in connection with a melee that broke out at the campus in December, officials said.
Youngblood, a 5-foot 8-inch, 202-pound running back, who rushed for 1,280 yards and scored 19 touchdowns last season, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon - his hands and feet, police said.

What I said on Tuesday: Several of you asked last week if Willie Youngblood was signing a letter of intent. Sadly, he has legal troubles to worry about now. Interesting story though, back in my day, this was just a big fight on campus. You all got sent to the principals office, and were suspended a few days. But with the latino-black racial wars continuing to worsen, nothing should be taken lightly, especially considering the recent events in Monrovia, Duarte, and the ongoing problems in Pasadena.

My reaction on Friday: A district attorney spokesperson said the county declined to file any case against Youngblood, citing insufficient evidence. Why would the police go to the school two months after this incidenct, arrest and embarrass this young man, then say they didn't have enough evidence three-days later to proceed? I know Muir gets a bad wrap, but this is why athletes and students at Muir feel they don't get a fair shake. What a joke, someone needs to publicly apologize to the young man.

Where there's smoke there's fire...good thing the courts don't convict on such hard evidence...

What you said is true of all people: We all need to keep our noses clean. We all need to learn accountability. Who said Youngblood has not already? After two months the DA had plenty of time to gather evidence, but they still let him go really quickly. It sort of seems like he should not have been arrested anyway. But maybe he should have been. However, we don't know that, do we? So we should not drag his name through the mud unless there is hard evidence. Not because he was on campus that day.

Posters having issues, new york what are you talking about? This kid needs to keep his nose clean get away from the crowd that he hangs with that obviously is nothing but trouble. If anything this kid is the one with character issues and needs to be taught that he must be held responsible for his actions. Where theres smoke theres fire. Nobody owes him an apology he just got lucky this time.

New York,

I would say 70% of these bloggers are racist. If we cant entertain them then we might as well not even excist.

Youngblood was cleared. Charges dropped. Looks like it was a mistake.

Looks like some of the prejudging posters have the character issues.

I am not defending his actions, sometimes you get caught in the moment. you dont know what happen i dont know what happened either. I dont know him so everthing is just hear say. When i was in school we did have a few racial problem sometimes it happens. i have friends of every race i dont want to see another young black are latino man in jail are dead over something that is very stupid and dumb. Instead of attacking his charter we should try to help and understand the situation so he can have progress and help him in the future not to make the same mistakes. that what im trying to say

Another Character guy...

Where's the parents?

African Americans and Latinos are doing the same thing the Shites and Sunnis are doing over in Iraq, killing each other for territory. All just a different version of it.

Why does it not surprise me someone from Duarte defending the actions of someone from a similar neighborhood. I hope the coach of Diamond Ranch sees this and beefs up security at the Muir/Diamond Ranch game. As I have said before you can take the boy out of the hood but not he hood out of the boy.

X-FALCON..read the story it was a crowd of African Americans attacking a few Hispanics?...what is your angle? Unless Willie was helping defend the Hispanics, which I do not think was the case. He helped in the attack and it too long to haul him in for the incident but he has now been fingered and will face our justice system and with whats been going on in Monrovia this group of kids will be made examples of, hoping to show others what will happen to them if this racial war continues. Hopefully this will send a message but I doubt it..too many whack jobs out there on both sides.

Im not saying it's right but you get caught up in the mix sometimes. you see your friend getting jumped do you help are not? that a hard choice to make. I dont know what happened but i also understand.

Goes to show how athletes that are talented think they are above the law and will get a free pass/get out of jail free card because they can score touchdowns. not the case here and I am glad the example is being set, latino or Black. Athletes are starting to become normal just like everyone else when it come to breaking the law, ask Roger Clemens.

I think it's sad that this is occuring, however I also believe it is news worthy. If this youngman was involved in an incident like the one reported, putting him in the newspaper isn't going to make him more of a target. If anything it shows what comes of this behavior and accountability. Sorry to say, but another sad ending to a possibly good college career. Peace to those at Muir, to the family of this young man, keep your head up. Let's bring some peace to Pasadena.

He needs to go to Mt. SAC and get away from all that trouble.

I think this is what Brock was trying to say: I concor here Fred but hey,it is your gig.

I do not mind the story but to post his picture makes him a potential revenge target, not this picture but the one that is linked here. Where is the discretion when it comes to underage kids (I know he may be 18). Not saying what he may or may not have done is right, and we all know what is going on recently in that surrounding area but this is what fuels the fire the people in Monrovia are trying to put out. Lets keep it to positive sports here, leave the negative stuff to college and pro players. To take it to the high schools is really low. I know Fred "if you dont like it then dont read it", but lets use better judgement when it comes to the kids, Hispanic or Black which is the issue here.

hahahaha this fool got caught riding dirty.

getting into fights and then getting arrested sounds like something the Covina High football and baseball teams would do.

brock its news. Thats why it was reported. if you dont like it dont read it.

Word on the street...Heggins is leaving Baldwin Park for a college job. Who are the front runners for the BP job???

It's so foolish and stupid to post this about a young athlete. He is not a Terrell Owens or any of that, he is just a high school kid. Whatever he did wasn't right, but to post this as news is stupid. Take this down
