Fred's been sick this week, but he should be back Monday. What has he missed this week? What do you think he should write about when he gets back?

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.

I don't know what Fred can tell you, but I hear that one has been finalized.

I like the "kids who play multiple sports" potential topic, but it is obvious some of the posts here (i.e., #1 fan) are tooting there own kid's horn (hey-appropo to Walnut being the band school that it is???) - I read this blog now for just entertainment - it used to be informative and insightful -

Good to see Optimal is getting some ink.

I'm Bobby Godinez the owner of Optimal Sports and to answer a few questions, prices range based on commitment length, but general price per session can get as low as $25/session. On average $37/session.

At optimal we work with a variety of athletes with the goals to get people stronger, quicker, faster and more explosive.

To go along with the training itself, I like to help my athletes with recruiting. Getting a scholarship is a definite priority while committing to Optimal.

Hope to see you soon!

Have you ever seen Rhodes play basketball he sucks. He is the reason the Walnut lost to SH. For football is there wasn't a rule that so many player for a team have to be 1ST team all league no one from Walnut football would be on 1st or 2nd team. As for Garcia I hear that he has brought up his grade and his Dad is going to let him play this year. 2nd best Waterpolo play in League after Cheng. I don't think he play soccer since 7th grade. He made V first time out give me a break. Yes I played with a pickup game of football and Cooper was there. He kick his butt.

Leonard Rhodes 20 points yesterday for Walnut in a loss. Does not look like he sucks to me. Tell me where Stransky and Garcia put up numbers like this #1 fan? He is the starting runningback for football and he is scoring 20 points in a basketball game and you claim he sucks. You #1 fan are talking out of your - - - .

Oaktown,

Come on now.. Your coach was wrong and CIF agreed..I wished we would have dualed too. How different do you think the result would have been?? Amat are the Defending CIF champs, if they are "average" then what does that say about your team? You have to give the credit where its due. We had 7 champs and you had 2. Silva pinned your guy, and did it quickly. I think we have an excellent chance at sending a few guys to the state meet. I don't want to get ahead of my self. Cif Duals are next week. We need to be ready for that.. Good luck to your team at individuals..

oaktown said:

Shoot pin Grin,

Yeah your team brought it that day. but that was after the fact. We should have dualed that day your coach pull your guys off the mat with his little tecnicality BS. Your team is ok but they will not get far in the masters and none of them will get to the state. Avg. team at best.

What ever happened to Aram? He started this blog went off and hardly, if ever came back to post his thoughts on certain topics. He cannot be that busy.

Paulie Walnuts said:

Rhodes scores points in basketball and is in the tribune box scores. He will carry your football team next year. Cooper, if you are saying Garcia kicked his butt that is not giving him much credit. Cooper is not a great or impact player. Garcia is all talk. waterpolos second best player. what? Baseball and football he has lost touch with his game. was never really that good even as a little leaguer avg. at best. Rhodes is a true athlete and Ryan Clarke could be a stud if he can make up his mind what sport to play. Other than rhodes and possibly Clarke Walnut has nothing to write home about in the football baseball basketball category. it is bad over there. Nobody will play there and would much rather play at Diamond bar or diamond ranch or Nogales. good acedemic school but horrible sports school for boys but then again the smart Asains are what bring up their test scores and the dumb jocks fail on the field. Its onlt Walnut tho, it is not like they have a history of winning like SH, Los Altos or Bishop Amat.

Baseball Nut,
Best Baseball Scrimmage on Sat. Feb. 23rd is Charter Oak vs. Northview. I have NV #1 on my poll with Charter Oak #2. SHould be fun.

Baseball Nut said:

I think you should have a follow up blog,"Was baseball nut right?". Then put in your own top ten Fred. Also make sure to mention Baseball nut's top two going at it at henderson field March 1st. You heard that right folks,CIF defending champion #2Bishop Amat against the CIF defending champion #1 Charter Oak.Also later in the week the matchup everyone wanted at dodger stadium,Northview vs. Charter Oak. Will it be a homerun derby in the small confines of the pony field? Or will pitching and defense make runs a premium? Show up and find out. Good luck to all teams and keep the info coming in on all of the great baseball programs in the sgv.

Does a couple of pounds make that much of a differance? They should have let them wrestle. Does it not come down to manuvers and skills in wrestling..I could see if someone was 5 to 10 pounds over but 2?...come on someone is punking out here. Amat nut up, maybe you guys did not want to see Silva get beat again by our boy.

He was given a very generous football scholarship from them.

Thomas is one of our local guys going on to play at the next level, he may come from a small school but he will do well out there! He was a big part of the defense for The Fighting Lancers this year.

Congrats to him!!!

Boys Miramonte League. Los Altos beat Charter Oak 7-0 this week, but had a tough loss to Diamond Ranch in a battle 4-3. The sad thing is that the goal scored by Diamond Ranch to go ahead 4-3 was offsides, which even the Diamond Ranch coach agreed with.

LA Conq said:

Freddy...

Best story in the valley right now is how close the Miramonte Girls Soccer League is! There are FOUR teams that have a legitimate shot at winning league going into the last week of play. That games this week will determine who goes on in CIF and who stays home...it's anyone's guess!

You gotta cover these games brother!!!

#1 fan,

Stransky is horrible at football and is a coward to hit, got benched and replaced by a sophmore and was reassigned to special teams. No ballz in football. Baseball he is known as the strikeout artist. Has power but that is when he hits the ball. his strike out to hit ratio. hum you do the math.

Steve Garcia: Poor grades full of himself pretty boy Wanker. ok waterpolo player baseball he is horrible and Soccer what a shame he even plays the sport. Football he does not even try.

The only real player you have over there is Rhodes in Basketball and football.

Your chess club and tidylywinks clubs rock!

Just thinking about how many 3 sport athletes at Walnut. Not to many Most of the kids are one sport and club teams. Here what I have.
Senior
Cameron Stransky Football, Soccer, and Baseball
Brendon Cheng Water-polo C league MVP, Soccer C, and Swim C
Derk Nakamoto Water-polo, Wrestling C, and Swim
Junior
Steven Garcia Water-polo, Soccer, and Baseball
No girls. Boy is that sad, but that the make-up of Walnut. We have a big band

Nice article by Steve Ramirez on the Northview Baseball Camp the other day. I'm taking my nephew to the Northview Baseball Camp tomorrow at 11:00. Word has it that Sergio and Jaime Pedroza are working the camp, along with Hector Estrella and Gil Urbina. Those were some great players and I think they all are in pro ball and doing well.

I sorry to say that things have gotten a little sour here. It's to bad becasue there was some very good post's here reciently. Especialy considering the news about who the new head coach will be and the new CIF realingment. Some good stuff if you ask me...

But then came the "never ending" (but expected) slam on Amat, and on La Puente in general. Followed by the the Mexican and Soul food jokes, and your "mama cleans my house" put downs, which in turn got us a "slam" on Chinese food and culture.
Before you knew it, Wham ! People were on some loser list....
Man oh man, these Anti Amat people really have penis envy sometimes dont they ?

I like the multi-sport topic as well. It's getting harder and harder to succeed at more than one top sport at the bigger schools. Let's hear some nominees.
