Breaking News: Steve Garrison resigns
One of the great and most respected coaches in the Star-News area, Monrovia High school's Steve Garrison, called to say he resigned on Monday. Garrison has a son in high school and wants to spend more time with this family. He wanted to make sure everyone knows he left on his own terms and when the batteries are recharged again and the situation is right, he will think about coaching again. He will remain at Monrovia as a teacher. From a personal standpoint Garrison was one of my favorites. He always was available, spoke from his heart and cared about the game as much as any coach I've dealt with. To lose Temple City's Mike Mooney and now Garrison in consecutive years is a big blow to the West San Gabriel Valley. Best wishes Steve to you and your family. We'll have a full story on Garrison's resignation in Tuesday newspaper.

Ex-Falcon,
There was a much bigger exodus Spring 2001 when Herring (Fremont then USC), Martin (Muir then UofA) and O'Hara (Muir then UofA), Eddie Gilmore (Claremont) and Mike Adams (Duarte) transferred. Coach Garrison stuck around then and had an 11-1 season in 2002.
15 years is a long-time at any job. I think it shows a lot of self-awareness to take a step back and recharge.
his player left so he left.
...
Good Luck Coach Garrison.
I hope you enjoy your family and spent alot of time with them. Football will go on at Monrovia just like everything else does in life!
A Jackass you could decided this last year like all other good coaches. Don't let door hit you in the ass.
