Well, I guess Nieto can talk a little more S**T. They just beat Chatsworth, a perennial powerhouse. The pitching of Zuniga and Mcnitt, not to make excuses but BACK FROM THE FLU, was nice to see. The funny thing is only a few knew that Zuniga and Mcnitt were sick but no excuses, NV won. It did not take long for Amat to come back. Good luck against St Johns.

I have always been an Amat fan, I was sitting on the Amat side cheering for my team and I have to be honest, First, I was sickened by the actions of both coaches. I think both should have been ejected. There were so many kids on both sides watching such a terrible example of poor sportsmanship. What are we teaching our kids? I was also very disappointed with a few of the Amat fans, they were saying horrible things to and about the other teams players. I was disgusted that grown men would stoop to that level. I don't care if a kid says something first, as grown ups we should all know better and not get pulled into arguing with a kid. Shame on you poor examples of fans! Let's bring a bit more class to the field as well as the bleachers!!

Goes to show that playing games using the small ball mentality is not always sucessful. When it came time to be in a hitting war with Northview, Nietos so called hitters were baffeled (maybe to used to bunting). Looking at strike three was embarassing for the Lancer hitters. Beside Reyes and Fox, the rest were shut down. Nieto it is time to open up your so called strategy and let the team swing for their runs instead of playing the small ball game. But I guess a small sized coach with a small sized brain will play small ball baseball. Do yourself a favor Amat get rid of this Horse Jockey Madman.

Murph and his staff run a bush league operation. I think all of you need to read the "Baseball For Dummies Book." Rule #1, you don't go after an opposing coach when he's in the third base box. That's known as common baseball etiquette. Coach Ernie was the cause of this whole incident. Not only did he verbally attack the Amat 3rd baseman he also try to chip in on Nieto up the 3rd base line. Nieto was sticking up for his guy. He will not back down from anyone. He will tell you where you can go. Murph do your program a favor and get rid of that cigar store indian coach Ernie. Hay Ernie didn't you tell the boys from Amat that you were going to be their coach last year? I guess we see how much you value your word.

They also just found out that they open up the National Classic tournamnent against the number #2 ranked team in the nation, St. John's College out of Washington D.C. St. John's had 9 players sign to play Division 1 college baseball during the early signing period.

i would like to address a few issues here... 1st to the amat parent's that are bashing nieto. he wants every kid on this team to get a college scholarship. to do so he must stick with a few good players in a slump (boomer,mistone) and fox (not in a slump). these guys are pushing hard and not producing but are seniors and have not been picked up by any college yet. as a coach the true measure of success comes when your players are picked up by college programs and excel. he does trully care about the kids. despite what the parent's are saying--its a free f*%$ing country if you don't like it quit now...now...now... ooooo but you won't you only put faceless blogs and talk sh$t here , but you refuse to leave. the bottom line is he making these kids better ball players, and he is promising if the commit and give them 100% he will help them get a school to pick them up...is that so wrong ????? wow --- i have never seen this type of backstabbing before ---again please if your feeling are such and you have a kid on this team ---quit now.......... if not shut-up and support the amat program....

Holy smokes! There are more than two team in the SGV. I believe Damien has just taken a giant step towards being one of the best in the SGV by beating a pretty good Covina team. Coach V is building a strong program. The JV program is above avg and the frosh team is loaded with talent. The future is bright.

It funny how all you people in the SGV, as soon as you hear Amat you automatically think the game is going to be like a super bowl or the world series. Amat is a school which is still living off its reputation from the 70's and 80's when they were the Power House of the SGV. News flash we are in the 2000's the 70's and 80's are long gone.

I was in the NV bleachers when that singing broke out. It wasn't coming from the parents and real fans. It an out of control adult egging a group of girls to sing. I've been to games with our rivals that some of this stuff goes on back and forth but that was not the case Saturday. That not a class move and was not coming from the real NV fans in the bleachers.

For your info, the umpire behind the plate was only doing his 3rd Varsity baseball game, ever. Blame it on the assigners who gave a rookie this game. Not one of you would you like to be put into his shoes in a game of this magnitude. He did a good job under the circumstances. His biggest mistake was not throwing out both managers. He became aware of the bumping & F-bombs after things had already started and only saw Murphy doing his thing. Sorry, Northview but your fans were not quiet about the calls or Murphy getting tossed.

The Northview players can be proud of what they have accomplished, it was a good victory for your school. It's the Northview fans that have to learn how to win or lose with some class. Singing Na Na Na Na hey, hey, hey goodbye ... I heard that right after the game from the Northview side, trying to rub it in a little deeper. You earn respect by how you handle yourself/team on and off the field. You have a good team Northview, but you need to clean up your act some to get the full respect that you want.

If Kendrena is still there these kids would be playing baseball. You go to that football roster and these guys are athletes that can play baseball with the best of them. They choose not to why? because Andy Nieto is a A-hole, not because they got cut. Heck Michael Jordan got cut too. It has allot to do with Nieto and those who kiss his A--. Some of these boys have lots of pride and will not play for such a a--wipe. Amats Catcher I do agree has no stick and has trouble holding onto the ball. He threw out 1 runner but he comes up in critical situations and chokes. He looks to be the weak link of the team. Thet better get a catcher or games are going to be lost by this weakness. The catcher should be a power hitter on a team and I do not see that at all. Bryan Seymore did not come thru and he had 2 opportunities to do so. Was Northviews pitching that overpowering? It looked good maybe so. Maybe Amat is where they belong D5.

All of you who are calling for the removal of your CIF champion coach should do your homework before passing judgement. It was Nieto who was being hounded by the Northview staff the entire game. It is totally unacceptable for any coach to cuss out a player from an opposing team yet that is what happened to the Amat 3rd baseman. I won't even get into the illegal player Northview has on its roster. That's for a different thread. I recall last season there were many disgruntled Amat fans in the early part of the season despite their 9-0 start. Coach Nieto has been at the next level and knows what it takes for his players to reach that level. Coach Nieto keep up the great job you and your staff are doing. Remember basball is not a popularity contest.

From what I saw there sat from the Northview side. They quietly say there no saying a word. No yelling at the umpires, the opposing coach or players. Before passing judgement on other take a look at yourselves. I just happen to watching near the Northview dugout as I was rooting for them. they dugout was chirping from the beginning of the game.

You Amat people on this board are complaining because your kids either got cut or don't play. It looked like a big roster on the varsity from what I see in the dugout and I hear they have JV and two freshman teams. Geez, your kid must be real bad if they did not make any team. Don't say they did not want to play for the coach. IT is a cop out. I heard one sophomore transfered out because he didn't make varsity 1B. I do believe the had a returning ALL CIF guy coming back. Why are the players leaving Amat. Because they can't get on the field.

Why is so many here so worried about a coach that is not a part of their school? Now, don't get me wrong I do not condone Nieto's actions, but this is not the first time he's had problems with the opposing teams coaches and/or fans. If I'm a part of the NV staff, team, or fans I would only concern myself with the fact that NV won the game in spite of Nietos actions which were obviously brought on by desperation & panic, so be proud of this team and the win. As for me I'm both disappointed that Amat lost, but as I have said before I know some of the boys for NV and am very proud of them. This NV team is a VERY GOOD TEAM!

Hey life unfair - no kidding on the close calls, every close was in amat's favor and a few on the bases that you didn't mention. This is what a snake that nieto is, i talked to a few of the nv guys and they were talking about how much nieto was talking to the ump, massasing their b***'s, even saying sorry about him (nieto) getting on their case about a call. I am convinced by the 6th inning, as he was starting to unravel and panic, he set the coaches at nv up, figuring he had the umps in his pocket anyway. slithering snake is what he is! Amat would look rally bad to NOT take action - but hey maybe that like that in their head coaches. Can't tell anymore

You know what really sucks about all this? Nieto suffers no consequences for his actions and now Murphy is out the next game as well. Again how many of "men" out there would be able to flat-out walk away from that situation? Another cusses you out and throws his body into yours? Really ask yourself -- could you walk away and do nothing? AND Murphy is the one to get tossed? Those umpires were Pro-Amat the whole game, luckily the game was't won or lost on their calls - but trust me, every close pitch - Amat got the strike.

I believe that coaches need to show respect and its in the CIF that they need to act respectful. What Bishop Amat's baseball coach did was wrong. He should recieve at least a 2-game supension like others have stated. Also it could be seen as a touchy situation but his actions on Saturday truly represent actions that would be approved by a private catholic school? Just take a look at Amat's motto and philosphy for it's students. People do make mistakes and can learn from them but a supension is necessary.

Great game to watch and Northview you won and are the Champs fair and square, outstanding team, very well coached. Amat we played our hearts out, came up empty, did not hit in clutch situations, the result is a loss, no big deal move forward and get ready for the next game. Andy Nieto, dude I try to see the good in your coaching but the game does not revolve around your antics, are you that attention starved? F-BOMBS at the opposing coach>? Amat is my team in all sports and I am a loyal backer of ours sports program but to see a display of unsportsmanship coming from one of our coaches is just downright wrong and should have some reprecussions from our AD and Principal Hemmingway. There are so many kids that complain about Nieto and his bullying tactics during school to kids on campus. He has to have a short man syndrome going somewhere. Kids who should be playing for Amat right now and that are more talented then some of the kids on the bench do not and will not play for this maniac Nieto. Coach hope you learned from your mistake Sat. that you have shamed our school like no other coach I have seen at Amat. You deserve a 2 game suspension from our AD for that display of a A-hole Sat. You just may be a good baseball coach but that gives you no right to take your personal agenda to field to make a name for yourself. Remember the School is bigger than its employee. I would have fired you after watching that Sat., and it has nothing to do with your coaching ability. It is called attitude. Lastly get those crappy old english style Amat black letters off that jersey and go back and get the real jerseys out of the equipment room.

I am an AMAT parent and am not upset with losing. Its part of playing the game. AMAT parents and fans are not saying we want him fired because we lost. We don't appreciate how he treats the kids, parents, umpires, opposing coaches etc.... he is a HORRIBLE human being!!!!!!!!!
AMAT has incredible History and Tradition which takes more than a coach that got fired to be successful. Coach Beck would make an excellent head coach becuse he is respected by the kids and can handle himself as a coach should.
I know many parents read this blog so if you agree please post " Beck for Head Coach " so when Manzo reads the blog ( As I'm sure he does daily ) he can see that there are more parents asking for a replacement now rather than later.

you and Joe missed a great game. I know when your team loses it's a little different experience, but the game lived up to the hype. Both teams got into trouble and got out with good pitching and defense. So many tense situations but all the players were up for it (no chokes). It was an unforgettable game.

To the Northview baseball team congratulations on a great win and you deserve to be the tournament champions and #1 in the SGV. To bad such a great match up had all the drama created by what I gather was our coach. I wasn't at the game so I can only go by what I read here and in the paper. As far as nvfan the person is just an idiot that must have failed the entrance exam or his high school team was beaten badly by an AMAT team in the past because the guy is obessed with hate for AMAT or anything associated with AMAT. If the action at the game almost brought you to orgasmic heights you truely are sick.

Last friday I was honored to be at the viewing for Rosemead's Coach Louie Madrigal. I keep my promise and left flowers on behalf of the Damien Wrestling Team and my family. I thought about leaving early, and just wanted to make sure the flowers arrived, seeing as I ordered them down the street at 3pm. I'm glad I stayed.

Then they came ....young and not so young men in grey Lerttermen jackets. One after another....current and past Rosemead athletes...then the parents both young and old and then more and more and more and more...until another two rooms were opened with monitors to both see and hear the service. It was standing room only! I never seen so many patches on so many lettermen jackets as I saw that night. Patches over patches. They wore them with pride. They cried openly. They hugged openly. They shared openly. They were as awesome a display of family and brotherhood as I have never witnessed. People of all ages shared from the heart...Coach this...Louie that...all ended with a common theme .."He was an exceptional man with extraordinary reach...and I loved him and will miss him dearly. Rosemead has lost a giant".

From everything I heard that night Coach Madrigal was a giant of a man, a leader of boys becoming men, an extremely diligent planner and to so many in the Rosemead community a surrogate father figure and a friend way past their high school days.

At most viewing you hear maybe 4/5 people speak but that night I heard from former wrestlers. former football players, former co workers, mothers, and community leaders speak about a man that changed lives and became a fixture by virtue of his generosity and dedication. He was without a doubt a great man to many many people.

The voices could have gone on all night, one story more compelling than the next. Without exaggeration...it could have gone on all night. And it was both and honor and a priviledge to hear those stories. I will not forget them.

I wonder how many parents think about the impact coaches have on their sons and daughters. Both good and bad.

It was the second such ceremony I've attended where the coach was truely a giant legend both in terms of athletic excellence and individual one on one mentoring. Salesian's Brother Tom Keegan was our Giant Legend. He made Champions out of "outsiders" and impacted the lives of many by his unselfish contributions and caring for others. He too was a taskmaster and a planner. He taught by example and stayed humble while the athletes became the focus and not the other way around. His service was held in an overflowing gymnasium with not a dry eye in the house...just like Friday night. And ironically BOTH drove the school bus. These men do it all!

Tonight I thanked Damien's Wrestling Coach Lucero for being that "coach" for my son. I told him what transpired at the ceremony and if Rosemead HS called to thank him for the flowers he'd know what they were talking about. I left him with this message, one I think it may serve others as well and one I would like to share tonight.

"I want to thank you Coach for everything you've done for my son. How you've helped him grow and develop into the man he will become. You mean so much to my son and to our family. We could never repay you but I want you to know..how much I respect you and admire you and your efforts with the kids and my son in particular." and then I told him something that brought a sobering tear to his eye and mine...."I just wanted to tell you this in person...so you know...what you mean to us and how MUCH you've helped my son grow.... And I don't want to say it to a box when you're gone. I wanted to tell you face to face so you would know."

He lettered my son tonight even though he wasn't able to compete anymore because of his neck injury and told those in attendance..." He came to every practice and did the workouts, helped the younger kids and put in the time. The doctors found he was missing a vertabrae in his neck...He could have been a CIF Champion." my wife cried. I cried Friday. Then he told my son later on, "I want to see you in your Lettermen jacket Zach." Man never stops teaching.

When I told my son about the service and the loyalty and love the Rosemead wrestlers had for their coach he told me something I think everyone should hear..."Coach Lucero does the same thing! He takes students who other coaches don't believe in, students who because of their size or speed aren't given a chance to compete, kids who are always told they aren't wanted or good enough and gives them an opportunity to test themselves and compete. He challenges us to push ourselves beyond our limits. Why wouldn't they have that unwavering loyalty. They love their coach...like I love mine." And then he cried knowing what Coach Lucero means to him as well. Honor, Commitment, Dedication, Hard Work and TEAM...always the TEAM.

Not every Coach merits that kind of loyalty and love but clearly some do. And they should be rcognized and acknowledged for the role they play in our children's lives. Before they are gone. This year Coach Lucero will be sending one senior to West Point and another for the second year in a row to Notre Dame on academic scholarship.

Long Live Sparta!

Northview Supporters, no need to defend yourselves, players, or coaches. We don't need to. Amat players-good game last night. The problem with last night's game is plain and simple...NIETO. He initiated the whole thing and bumped Murphy and said F U, I heard it right from the bleacher side of the Northview dugout. To say Northview coach talked to or cussed at the B.Amat 3B man is such a reach and desperation on someone's behalf to detract the blame from where it should be, it's almost comical. Like I said, Northview Followers, let's not defend ourselves here. We don't have to and neither do our players or coaches. We won't be pushed around or disrespected by Wannabee Nieto. As Freddie Mercury sings, "We are the champions, we'll keep on fighting til the end". Northview 4 Amat 1. Northview is Tournament Champions!!!

I am pretty hesitant to get involved in any of this blog stuff and my boy would probably be pretty ticked, but having said that I have a kid at Amat and has been in the problem for a few years. The parents at Amat are usually a pretty close-knit bunch and I am clear in saying - so many of us parents are absolutely disgusted with Nieto. And trust me - he would take it out on my kid. He is an ego-maniac. I pray everyday he finds something better to do with his time. He is a horrible coach with terrible anger issues. Too much attention is being given to the unnecessary antics of both coaches. What about the great pitching on both sides. There were 5 runs scored yesterday and only one of them was earned. Great job by Elias, Andrade, Zuniga, and Mcnitt. I would take any four of those pitchers. Great job players. Boo coaches.

Writers blast Nieto for his behavior, yet Murphy droped the "F" towards the Bishop 3rd baseman. I heard it personally. What??? i was at the game and Covina didnt necessarily give the game away nor did they EARN their 4 runs. it was suprising that pill didnt pitch but Damien looked good. you just got to tip your hat to them. Covina is good but we just didnt have the pitching to close it out.

Im not suprised at all the trash talk here. It was bound to happen regardless of who had won the game.

By looking at the box score that Fred posted here, it seems to me that Amat didn't get on the score board until late in the game. Seems to me that ya got to give credit where credit is due. NV played a better baseball game than Amat did plain and simple.

That being said, I am certian that Amat will be fine and that this game will be a good learing experience for them going into the next tournament down in the OC.

BTW, I am very suprised at how much chatter there is on this blogg concerning a sport outside of Football.

Amat usually dominates the conversation on the SGV bloggs and when they do good in other sports then you get to see a lot of activity from people who like to post.

You know, it would be nice, if only for the interest that a game like this produces, if these two teams played again.
I know that they are not on each others schedual but I wonder if an exibition could be squeezed in just to generate the interest level. I realize Of course, that there would be so much resistance from both sides. But man it would be fun, wouldn't it ?

You would take Amat in a series? Yeah, so would I, a series about a catholic school with a coach who uses the F Word towards opposing coaches and has players that don't like him. I'm ok with some foul language, esp. in a tight game, but Nieto was out of line last night and I had a clear view of what was going on from the left field side. Still have love for the Amat kids, but not going to defend the idiot.

Biggest play of the game, I don't even recall what inning but Bishop had runners in scoring position and the score was still close. High hopper over Arnold's head at 3B. He's deep at third and leaps up to stab the ball. Plenty of time to throw but he shorthops it to the backhand side of the firstbaseman. Luckily Juarez snagged it for the putout. After that the momentum and adrenalin was all behind the Northview ace, Aaron Elias. In an earlier inning his rightfielder, Reuben Ramirez made a spectacular catch crashing in the fence deep in right field foul territory. You give any strong pitcher a couple outs like that early in the game and he can lay a few fastballs down the pipe now and again to keep the meat of the lineup honest. Northview pitching was deciding factor.

Like they say at the movie theatre before the movie starts..."Silence is Golden" This is what I heard or witnessed from the Amat side at the end of the game. Umpire was on Nieto's nuts all game. Amat got every 3rd strike call and Murphy only being tossed was flat out wrong. A better coach and better program was evident last night.

Not much being said about the cheap shot elbow thrown in the 7th by the Amat player running down the line on Northview 1st Baseman, which led to more bs initiated by Nieto.
Nieto representing a catholic school using the language that everyone near Northview dugout heard was embarrassing. Is that part of the curriculum at Amat? I'm not one that is shocked by cussing on the field, but addressing opposing coaches with F words is out of line. The peanut gallery of Northview fans ripping Nieto was entertaining and deserving. Someone also wrote that here go the Amont Honks ripping Nieto after only one loss, do you know how to read, we don't like him period and want him gone. How many more players have to quit or transfer for us to learn that's he's a cancer to our program.

That umpire behind the plate was really poor. He was calling pitches 8-10 inches off the ground strikes all night for both teams. Amat's pitcher did a better job hitting that guys skewed zone on that low end but he was generally consistent with that ultra-low call. It wasn't that he was leaning Bishop or Northview. I don't think the guy could see that low pitch and was just giving the call to the pitcher every time. Why that sucks is because in critical game breaking situations these kids know the strike zone and we saw some really exciting rally's get ended when this stiff punched out the hitter for strike three on pitches that Vlade Guerrero wouldn't swing at.

Bishop Amat will be just fine. NV won the game. Period. I will still take Amat in a series.

Will someone tell me what Nieto has done besides be Gillespie's Caddy? He won a Div. 5 Championship with Kendrena's kids. The sad thing with Kendrena leaving was that this would've never happened last night with the Northview coach if Coach K was there. This is a joke. He's not even in the same league as the other better coaches in the valley. He strolls into high school scene and in one year, he thinks he's the god of high school coaches. Once he saw the game slipping away, he started his antics. Sure was some interesting conversations going on with Amat parents in the parking lot about how much they don't like their own coach. Congrats to Northview and all their fans. That's a heckuva team they got. We got the wrong coach on our side. I'd take a lot of others over this joker.

As a parent of a son who will be graduating in June, I had a company visit my home and meet with my son and I to get him "exposure" to get into a good school where he would be able to play baseball. He was at my home for over two hours going on and showing us how he would market my son. When the meeting was over he began to talk about the cost. This ran over $1200. I thanked him for his time but said no, because as a single parent I have very limited means. I ended up finding a website called berecruited.com and it cost I believe $25.00 to sign up so we did at the end of my sons Junior year. My son was contacted by about 4 schools. They were from division 1,2,3 and from various states. My son took it upon himself to fill out recruiting forms at all of the colleges he was considering and also sent out raw highlight film and is going to be playing in college. His good grades have given him many great opportunities to go to the schools of his choice. I suggest if to start early if your child wants to play sports beyond high school, waiting until the end of my son's jr year was a little late, but we were still lucky. I hope this info can help someone out.

I know you read this that's why i'm posting on here. Stand up for yourself and respond to why you are such an ASS? Why is it All about you? Why do you have to control everything and micro manage the entire squads every step. Our boys have way to much talent to have you acting the way you do. You have done nothing but embarass the school and you've had more players quit this team and either transfer or just stop playing ball all together. THAT'S SAD!!!
Manzo, it's going to be hard to recruit future talent as long as Nieto is here. Send Nieto to anger management cause he has some major issues. This isn't the first time and won't be the last. Are you waiting for him to hit a player or hit another coach before you can him? Do your job and look for a replacement cause the talk around town is don't send your kid to AMAT until Nieto is gone.
Let's ALL remember that he is winning with the team that Coach K and Roddy put together. AMAT Fans let's all hang in there and keep a new coach in our prayers.

It's a good idea to be leery of recruiting services. Many are out just to make sales. I interviewed with one years ago for a career and found that most just want to make sales.

My suggestion is put together a highlight tape of your kid and select the schools he wants to attend and send out the dvd to those schools. Pick a wide range of schools not just two or three. Make sure you target division two and three schools as those are good sources and also offer scholarships.You be able to research schools on the internet or at a local library.

Some times a school who you send a dvd to and can't use you can sometimes refer to another coach or school. This is all about networking and call backs. Also after you send the dvds out be sure to follow up with phone calls. good luck

Do you arbitrarily decide to respond and answer to questions you consider worthy or not because for over a week now I have just simply tried to get you to communicate back to me for my son and for young men in our Valley on every team regarding recruiting.

At work and keep checking back on the blog for the information I asked you to answer for me actually for my son and unfortunately still no response. I anticipate you are very busy this time of year but hopefully in the near future you can tell me who “the scouting service” is and what the word “they” refers to. I can then contact "them" regarding my son and afterwards "they" can hopefully evaluate his tape to determine his potential and maybe help us in our recruiting process. I just want what's right and have "them" consider not just my son but hopefully others will follow my lead and "they" can get more business and we as parents can get someone professionally to give us the guidance, direction, and connections to colleges and universities throughout the country not just at Division I but II and III too. I am realistic and if my son is not good enough to play Division I football but he does have excellent grades and he will be able to further his education and hopefully continue his football career someplace. Ahead of time thanks..!

Joe (Unemployed) Amat stop pretending you have any business, you just could't afford the ticket to get in and besides you wife would have not let you come in.
Bottom line is you have to swing the ball and force the defense to make the plays, NV was aggressive while Amat player were looking at strikes go by then whine about the umpire. Maybe is because they are so use to bunting that they just dont how to react when they face a good pitcher.
Nieto who i think is good coach sometimes becames the center of attention instead of letting the kids play the game. Fans do not come to see him control everymove to show the world how smart he is, they come to see the players.

lets here from some more fans about the disagreement between the two coaches.

Not really trying to have it both ways. That's was actually my point. In every game there are a TON of "what ifs" and they should NEVER be used as an *excuse*. Scoreboard!

Let people report on the game, say what happened and demonstrate that things can swing one way or another based on simple things, but you'll never hear the kind of crap we heard on the BA/CO game(go back and read it) about how "lucky" the other team was and how "we just had a bad night". At least not out of this keyboard.

NV won and I applaud their *real fans*. It sounded like a fun environment with a little fireworks thrown in. I like what the very first fan wrote to start the thread. Now let's go out and make sure that the SGV gets a DIV and a DV championship again!

I didn't ever here about Charter Oak, I thought they were number 1 in the valley according to the Tribune. I thought they would be playing in the Championship. I mean this is supposed to be their year.

Good Pitching stops good hitting. Good Job Northview your baseball team earned my respect last nite. Your fans and Coach are a piece of work, but then again Amat fan base was out of control as well. All fun out there last nite as a spectator, witnessed some good plays on both sides. It is funny watching the drama unfold between both sides, that by itself is entertaining to watch. For those that got tickets left on their cars by Glendoras finest hope it was worth it. 1000 people at a HS baseball game, it was rocking.

Your completely right on, Nieto should have been tossed too. I don't get to see a lot of high school baseball but those umps were inconsistent all night long, with a bit of Amat favor.

Yeah, other sports like Mt. SAC and Citrus basketball teams in state regional championships, Covina playing Damien in another tournament championship -- all of which we covered. Sorry pal, can't cover everything. Just don't have a big enough staff. Maybe I should start asking for volunteers.

Speaking of Amat it looks like our intrepid news staff from the SGV Trib.missed some great track and field yesterday at Citrus College during the Bishop Amat Relays.

Over 1200 kids from over 30 schools participated. I like football and baseball as the next guy but there are other sports taking place out there and we want to hear about them!

I've been away on business, and didn't get to see the game, so I'm waiting to read those eyewitness accounts. Interesting that the coaches got into it and yet only Murphy got tossed, but those here say Nieto "instigated it". He can be a bit of a "bench jockey" (that's not a height joke-look it up !:?) Coming from a higher level so that wouldn't surprise me. But if so, why didn't he get tossed? Good "bench jockeys" know when to stop? What was the deal?

One thing you've never heard come from this keyboard is an excuse for losing to someone on the field, court or mat. Someone steps up and gets a win-they deserve it.

I thought he handled himself well with some GREAT quotes in the paper.

And you'll never hear "man, we had the bases loaded, what if..." No - the pitcher got the groundout he needed when he needed it. No excuses. Coaches coach, players make plays, or don't, and boosters boo. That's high school sports. It's a fine line between a W & an L when two good teams take the field. Shame on Nieto for representing Amat like he does. How many coaches is it going to take to say he's a jerk and instigates things? I am embarrassed for Amat's athletic programs with this guy in charge. He's bush league. Northview clearly is a better team and it showed. The score could've been worse and Nieto could've got a.. kicked like the team did if he keeps talking smack.
