Bonita still undefeated in April

Bonita 8, Charter Oak 2

The Bonita High School baseball team improved to No. 8 in Monday's CIF-Southern Section Division IV poll, well behind No. 2 Northview and just behind No. 7 San Dimas, but it's hard to imagine anyone playing better than the Bearcats at the moment.
The winners of the recent Northview tournament are undefeated in April, and they extended the San Gabriel Valley's longest winning streak to 12, beating visiting Charter Oak 8-2 on Tuesday.
After starting the season 4-5, the Bearcats (16-5, 7-2) moved into a first-place tie in the Miramonte League with the Chargers (11-10, 7-2) and will meet Charter Oak again on Thursday for the outright lead with two games left next week.
The Bearcats pounded out 13 hits, and that's been the story of their 12-game win streak, in which they've outscored opponents, 124-23, and are averaging 10 runs a game. The Bearcats also managed four shutouts during the streak and only have allowed five runs in their last five games. Bonita coach John Knott said winning the Northview tournament and beating Sonora in the championship after knocking off Monrovia and Diamond Bar has done wonders for their confidence.
"Absolutely," Knott said. "Anytime you can play in a tournament where you're playing four teams you're not familiar with it's like a CIF setting. And the fact that we came out on top considering the teams that were in that tournament was definitely a boost for us."

We are not in April anymore. It's May, & that means it's "Charter Oak time" for the defending CIF Champions.

Go Chargers!

bonita is good,

may have best player in valley at ss,

but i like co on thursday especially if plowman can not pitch.

I had C O ahead of Bonita largely on the strength of their pitching but it's hard to imagine a better 1-2 right now than Plowman/Calderaro, especially the way the Bearcats are hitting. Charter Oak had owned the Bearcats going into this series, (I think Northrup was 4-0 career), and after that they have Garkow, Golia, and the rest of the throwing horde.

C O has the advantage over Bonita at two defensive positions and deeper pitching; after that, it's all Bearcats: lots more offensive production and better talent in the Outfield and at First, Second, and SS.

When Knott can get eighteen+ outs from his starter like he did yesterday, Mier is a good option to come in and go Saito on opponents. The Chargers have to get to Plowman early and sustain the attack, something they have had trouble with this year, to win Thursday.

Hey Re-do,

Before you critique Fred, check your own verbage. He did write the Bearcats managed four shutouts (Not Chargers) & it is "etc" not "ect".

You were right Fred, good coverage.

Trying to have an intelligent conversation with NV parents is like arguing with a 2 year old. This is how it goes, i give my reasons saying "NV has no offense because...."
NV parents answer "Dude you know nothing" the other one goes "i know you are but what i am i" the other one "you suck"
Then i realized that there is a direct correlation between the NV parents IQs and the amount of runs they score per game, a range of 2-3.
to win a championship you need balance, its great to have defense and pitching to keep you in the game then you need key hitters that drive in the table setters. NV has a hard time doing this, middle of the order is weak, it lacks a great hitter.
You need a very good pitcher and a very good hitter.
Sorry guys i know the truth hurts and it makes you guys angry but no championship. Just an honest baseball assesment.
Now lets not get too worked up and choke, you kids may pick up this habit.

The Bearcats also managed four shutouts...

Not Chargers

test

Fred:

Check your verbage. Should be Bonita pounded out ect.
