Just wondering ...

I was talking with Star-News prep editor Scott Galetti, who is convinced that boys volleyball is just as popular on the West side of the Valley as baseball and softball. He says there are more fans at volleyball games in the Star-News area, but I think there are more fans as a whole in baseball and softball. That's what sports guys do, we disagree. How about on the Tribune side of town? Should I be giving boys volleyball, track and swimming the same coverage we give baseball and softball during the season? We've already started covering track now that the big meets are here, and I usually wait until we get closer to CIF before I start dialing in on volleyball and swimming. What are your thoughts?

I just noticed blog and haven't visited the website since Boys Volleyball was not being mentioned. Well, it should. There is enough interest out there. Their games are well attended. Lets post results!!

Why not give these boys some exposure. There are good teams out there like Garey, Los Altos, Diamond Ranch, Sierra Vista and Montebello. They are exciting to watch, but I have been disappointed that nothing has been written in the paper about their games. There are very talented boys on these teams.

volleyball IS popular, but frow what i know other than Los Altos, there are no other boy volleyball teams in this side of town. im sure if schools out here have volleyball teams on this side the fans WILL go out...

I think that perhaps it would be a good idea to just mention the results in a single blog and incorporate (or limit) the other "minor" sports and college results to a single posting.

In my opinion, I believe that there is very little interest by most people in here for this stuff.

Sure you might have a few die hards, but for the most part those sports generate very little interest.

I believe that posting topics for this stuff is like the same argument that ice hocky has, in that, there is very little interest by most folks on that sport.

Yet, the die hards will tell you that it is deserving of being called a major sport in this country. NOT !!

After all, there are allot of people who enjoy hockey right ? But the fatcs are that you would be really hard pressed to name three starting players on either the Kings or Ducks teams by anyone in this forum.

You know, when I look at the postings from various blogers on this forum, I often notice that there is very little feedback on most of the above mentioned catagories.

For example, when you have intersting topics concerning football, baseball and softball at the begining of the week, often the good stuff get's burried rather quickly at the bottem of the page because you have a tendency to update this blog with the minor sports "clutter"
on a daily basis.

You have to scroll way down to get to your favorite subjects and pass by stuff that gets no response from most bloggers. It's a waste of space in my opinion.

In fact, just to compare the blogs here, I went online to see how many postings resulted from the blogers on the Tribune's newsgroup's other online ediitons. I noticed that most of theses other blogs had little to no responses from their readers.

I though that it was odd, considering the fact that prep sports are so popular these days.

I suppose that it goes to show just how popular this blog is to many folks in the SGV, and in retrospect, I suppose that it is a credit to you Fred, that the interest is so strong here.
