Monday Morning Football: NFL in the SGV?

| | Comments (54) |

Sorry I didn't have a football thread, I took Monday off to play golf.

We've been burned before with Irwindale and Al Davis, so are you believing Ed Roski Jr., and his plans to bring an NFL team to the city of Industry? Several teams have since contacted Roski, and he has begun reaching out to each of the NFL's 32 franchises in search of a partner, he told this newspaper's editorial board.
"I've called most everyone and have received a lot of enthusiasm," said Roski, chairman and chief executive officer of Majestic Realty Co. in Industry and a part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kings. But, he added, "There is a lot of deal fatigue."
Roski named as potential tenants the New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.....Anyone but the Raiders would do.

simple,
Please give it a try. But don't strain yourself trying to come with a reply longer than one sentence. I know it will be difficult for you but let's see just what kind of education you received at whatever school you went to.

keeping it simple said:

we can be more creative but since you went to amat and have a limited education we like to keep it simple so you understand it.

AMAT 73 said:

Can't all of you haters out be a little more creative . Try to come up with something new . All you can muster out of your little pea brains is either , beer bellies, barrio boys ,how we suck, and comments on religion. Maybe if your parents had been a little more concerned with your education when you were growing up you could think on your own instead of playing follow the moron in all of your posts. That is probably you won't post what school you root for because continuation schools don't have teams.

Show Me,

To quote Chevy Chase, "Jane, you ignorant slut"... why don't you go back to the bottom of the page and start reading from there. The topic started about the stadium that Ed might build, then Mr. Cheese Head starts talking his crap. Well I responded to his trash talk just like I am responding to yours. You jerks start it and we finish it, simple.

I don't see you posting anything about your sick school, if you have one but I can guarantee you will post under 20 different names just like the same witless punk who posted right above you. i won't even address his sorry ass.

No way in hell amat plays in that stadium unless it's in a championship game and we all know that's not going to happen for years

You will be easy to spot too. You will be the one with the big beer belly and oversized bag of doritos resting on your belly while you slam beers all day

Show me the W's said:

BB&G ,

Show us all a winner in football and all the trash talk will stop being directed at Amat, but until then you and all of the Amat faithful live in the past glory football years and tute your horn how you can mash all of SGV, but get nowhere in the D1 when it comes to Notre Dame and Crespi. Geeze dude if your team was still playing the likes of Mater Dei St. John Bosco and Servite you would be worse off. Remember Notre dame just made the jump to D1 and is kicking your ass every year. Get off that soap box and start winning some games, then you can come in here and pump your chest.

Bleeds Blue and Gold said:

Thumbs,

We'll be there, you'll see. Just like Anaheim serves the OC schools, the house that Ed builds will serve us too.

IF and when the new stadium is uilt, you'll be easy to spot. You'll be the only one with a block of cheese on his head, cowtowner.

Like any other fool on this board who love to talk crap about us, you never say who YOU support. So what else is new? You are as pathetic as the others.

Thumbs Down said:

You have to have a playoff Championship quality team to play in the big bowl. Like Mater Dei and Servite playing at the Big A of Anaheim. Amat, it will be a very long while until you get invited to play in a big new stadium. The Stadium is scheduled for completion 2011. we are in 2008 not going to happen until you get a legit team which today and tomorrrow is nowhere to be found.

Witney,
When I said blue collar it was in referance to Don and his statement of "Blue collars fantasize about shelling out $300-$400 for NFL football". Go back and read. The people of Green Bay are blue collar and I see them pack that stadium every sunday. I never said the stadium was not built on tax payers money. If Roski can pull this off without dipping in our pockets I am for the stadium being built and the NFL back in L.A.. FYI Since you labeled me I went to Lawrence University in Appleton WI.

this is all from the guys pocket! so get off the tax payers money bullish!

and i believe the Dallas Cowboys are in area similiar to industry. So this could work!

I went to the Nike Combine Sunday - Price showed up ready, fit and looked all business. As far as Marvay - the kid has extroardinary skills and cannot be defensed one on one. No doubt Price benefitted from the exposure to some unreal receiving corp talent assembled on the Trojan grass. Blazing foot speed.
In the LB group,
Golper from Arcadia looked great... Although Burfict (sp) and Simmons got most of the attenton.
A good number of kids showed up late and some looked soft, with plenty of puking going on at the step up station. Being invite only - it was a bit surprising a handful were not prepared as well as would be expected. Overall So Cal shined in the QB dept...and word on Sunday was people were damn impressed.

thumbs up, I'm an owner of the Packers along with 200,000 others and Lambeau was built with city of Green Bay money in 1957 and remodeled in 2003-4 with 80% city money(taxpayers)so get your facts straight, by the way...if you went to Marquette or Premontre HS, maybe you'd know what the heck you're talking about

DavidBrownFromCtown_IsADouche said:

awesome! if they build this stadium, maybe some of the SGV residents will finally be able to get a job (concession stand) and stop leaching off welfare checks.

sweet deal if true.

It's not anger it's pity on your poor ass . I learned along time ago that comments from outsiders are either ignorance or jealousy on something they wish they could be a part of. One thing that was taught to me is never get angry at those who are less fortunate and of small mindedness , only pray for them that someday they will overcome their weaknesses. So my friend , believe me when I tell you your statements do not anger me in anyway so save your laughs for yourself.

Why do all you as_ho_es out there have put in your lousey comments on AMAT

why 73? because we laugh at you getting mad every time you post. Your anger comes thru loud and clear.

AMAT 73 said:

thumbs,
Like BB&G stated we probably will be the first high school team to play there if it is built so why should we build our own stadium if Big Ed is being so kind to build one for us on his dollars as you have stated.

AMAT 73 said:

This is about a football stadium in the City of Industry. Why do all you as_ho_es out there have put in your lousey comments on AMAT.Are you that jealous of us that we are on your minds at all times. As far as the new state of the art stadium we do not get the tax dollars that the public schools get to convert the stadium floors to turf, we put our dollars into new facilities where all can benefit as in classrooms, labs, and so forth. We needed a new student center to benefit all students not just basketball. If you idiots knew anything about AMAT you would not be making asses out of yourselves on this blog by making idiotic statements. Thumbs ,you made a little sense for awhile but then came your AMAT statement and you blew your cover as to being another hater with half a brain and AMAT always on the half you do have.

Thumbs,

You are a misinformed atheist. There are no extra collections nor will there be, try doing some homework before you use your thumbs on the keyboard.

So, what percentage of L.A. types drive to SD for a game just for the hell of it? Not many, unless it's a team they already cheer for be it the Raiders, Broncos, etc... These are not season ticket holders. If you want a team here in SoCal, fine, go ahead and sign up for the waiting list, you won't be alone.

Now as far as our stadium, natural grass works just fine for us. Having plastic on the floor doesn't make you a better team, just look at the rest of the valley teams who have one.

Here is one prediction I will make right now. When the day comes that this baby is built, the first Valley team to play it will be AMAT, not the second rate, nameless school that you support.

concern about driving down property values said:

Thumbs,
You are a riot. Keep the comments coming.

Don and BBG,
Los angeles can support a team and it can be done without tax payer dollars. Los Angeles by itself is the 6th largest economy in the world. There are plenty of corporations who can purchase luxury suits and use them as tax write offs. As far as the location the 605 is a perfect place for a stadium as its centrally located and connects to most major freeways in los angeles (5,10,91,, 405,105) and is far away from the crappy downtown area. My only concern would be the gangbanger barrio amat fans with the huge beer bellies coming to the games and driving down property values in the area.

Thumbs said:

BB&G,

Last time I checked there were still lots of fans that drove south to watch the Chargers play and they are non raider fans they are just fans without football in L.A. Think how many kids born in the early to mid 90's when the NFL left L.A. cannot identify with a football franchise of their own today? They have no team and these football fans will enjoy a team in L.A. If it is not going to cost the tax payer a dollar why not go for it. Speaking of Taxes when is lovely Amat going to spring for a new stadium with a new state of the art field that everyone else seems to be getting nowadays?. Thats right they cant, the New Events Center they built for basketball and bingo is still a cash cow for Taxing their students parents. What about being taxed as Catholics to pay for the pedifile cases being lauched against the archdioces. Sounds like second and third collections on Sundays to me. Like Roski he need a football team to built the stadium. Sounds like Amat they need a team period!.

Bleeds Blue and Gold said:

Thumbs Up,

Get your thumb out of your @$$ and stop eating all that cheese, you're getting backed up and can't think straight. Roski will use taxpayer money to build this thing, watch. He owns the City of Industry already and they will pay for the stadium.

The only truth you speak is the part of people driving to SD and flying to Oakland but those people are Raider fans and they have no sense of reality anyway.

BTW, was that you on the videoes with those cows from Chino?

Thumbs up for the New Stadium said:

Don,
Speaking of Blue Collars, those people that pack Lambeau in Green Bay are Blue Collar as they come, I know I am a Wisconsin transplant. It is possible to have a stadium built in a small town like Industry. If people can fly to Oakland and people can drive to San Diego from LA for NFL Football it will be great for LA to get this stadium and bring the NFL back to the second largest media market. BB&G You are baffoon if you think Roski cannot pull this off without our tax paying dollars... thats exactly how he will make his money in the end using his own hard earned cash and using his investors wisely. Vegas was not built on tax payers dollars see (Bugsy Segal).............. investors who will make the investment will get their return. Again you have no business sense you went to Amat.

FredJ said:

If a team moves here we need our own name, no Los Angeles Raiders, Bills, Chargers. I like the Surf, Earthquakes or bring back the California Sun.

Bleeds Blue and Gold said:

AMEN DON, AMEN!!!

In the time it will take to build this dinosaur, just what do you think it's going to cost to see a game in this place? 3 to 400 bucks might be a PER PERSON price by the time it's ready. And just what shape will the economy be in at that time? With everything going to hell right now I hate to think of what things will be like in say 5 years.

TSifH,
No tax payer dollars? Who are you kidding? There has NEVER been a stadium built WITHOUT tax payer support and there never will be. Why would these developers use their own money to build this thing if they can US to pay for it? How do you think these bastards got all their money in the first place?

Don said:

You guys are so funny, the area in no way has the resources to support an NFL team. The local community may have football fans but they are blue collar types who only fantasize about shelling out three or four hundred dollars ten times a year to park, party, and partake of NFL football. The people who live in the valley who DO have the dough to spend are not what you would call your prototypical pro football fans.

As for the rest of the fancy development, Mr. Roski should look closely at the problems the existing “world class resort and conference center” in the area has had over the years just keeping the rooms occupied ... and Ed, you're planning on how many new hotels? We wouldn't want to forget the proposed shopping either would we? Especially when the local mall is such a roaring success.

Last, and probably goofiest is the planned stadium and adjoining development is smack dab in the middle of a freeway improvement that is nearing completion after something like 15 years of work and Lord only knows how many millions in taxpayers dollars. Swell idea, start over.

Just another loony boondoggle to put more money into the pockets of the developers and politicians.

Relocate the Dallas Cowboys to the new stadium. Ed. Roski Jr. along with Jerry Jones can make this happen without Tax payer dollars. Los Angeles Cowboys sounds real good. The Cowboys have always loved So. Cal with their training camp in Thousand Oaks. Send the Raiders to Dallas just get them the hell out of California period! take the gang members with them too.

what ever team comes to LA they need to have light color uniforms because if they dont your going to get the same gang bangers that go for the radiers and start wearing the LA hats.... im i right or what. they love the radier colors....

Does Purple in the picture of the stadium mean the Minnesota Vikings are coming? This town is not big enough for two Viking teams, Bring the Saints, oops sorry San Dimas. Finally a new home for Amat to play in after years in that tin can splinter planks made shack they play in.

Roski is the Man said:

Ed Roski needs to nail down a team first. Please do not bring that riff raff of the Raiders back, we have enuf left over Raiders fans going to Dodger games and creating havoc. I like the idea of the Los Angeles 49ers. The 49ers have always been a class team and would fit into LA perfectly. Leave those hooligan Raiders and their fans in the Bay area.

Great news for S.Price but he better add that weight to his frame or his ability will only carry him so far. He has the tools but needs the stature. He is a good player on a possibly bad team but it does not matter if he holds his own and gets to college.

hahahhahahahahahahaha,

If you've never felt that way - you've never played in a meaningful game... or you didn't care enough to be worthy teammate to line up next to.

True competitors play just for the opportunity to cry. In Jim Valvanos famous "Don't EVER give up speech" he said,

"When people say to me how do you get through life or each day, it's the same thing. To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives.
Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day.
Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought.
Number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy.
But think about it. If you laugh, you think and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special."

Food for thought.

Great Job Price said:

For the person who wrote all the bad things about Sheldon Price of Amat

Read the below LA NIKE CAMP results. MVP BABY!!!

There was some differences of opinion as to whom the top performers were at the various positions, but the one consensus choice was Sheldon Price (6-1, 155) from Bishop Amat of La Puente at defensive back.

Bishop Amat's Sheldon Price hopes to lead his team back to some of the glory it had in the 1980s and 1990s.
According to the position choices, it was a very good group of DBs overall and it showed during the one-on-ones as they held their own against the receivers. Price, a second team All-Area pick by the San Gabriel Valley Union Tribune as a junior, is a strong candidate to have a breakout senior season and he should see his recruiting pick up in the coming weeks. The son of former Long Beach Poly, UCLA and NFL cornerback Dennis Price, the Amat secondary standout has not filled out yet and is the type of athlete that could add 20 pounds without losing any of his agility or athleticism.
"It was a good group of DB's and he (Price) stood out when we started doing our SPARQ sessions," remarked secondary coach Eugene Jackson, a former DB at the University of Oregon. "When we started the one-on-ones, he stood out even more. He has a nose for the ball and was consistently coming up with plays. He's also long and rangy and could play safety down the line with a little more weight."
For Price, he relished the atmosphere on Sunday and has some unfinished business to take of this fall as the Bishop Amat program has fallen on hard times in recent years after fielding some of the state's best teams in the 1980s and 1990s.
"I really enjoyed the competition and there was plenty of competition to do well against." said Price, who singled out Presley and Marvay as two of the best wideouts he went up against. "I went up against Ricky before and he always seems to get better."
