SHHS has the worst parents when it comes to losing. "take it like a man" as the saying goes, but then again your coach does not look like a man with his hands on hips looking like Fairy.

SH parent -- shame on you for justifying that behavior and there lies the problem. Shall i quote the famous Lou Holtz.... You win and lose with class... I understand the hurt -- believe me I get that -- but their actions afterward are what everyone saw and witnessed and that has left a bad taste - and I know YOU will say you don't care BUT you really do or you wouldn't have responded. They are becoming grown men - act like it.

No... true competitors respect their opponent and honor them in victory or defeat. No matter how much it hurts.

"SHHS classless brats", if there is a crybaby and whinner just look in the mirror. All you can see is the negative, do you realized that these kids were crying their hearts out, perhaps they cared too much. Do you think ND gave a crap if SH stayed there or not? Only morons like you who are always looking for the negatives. More likely you have never competed in your life. These kids are not brats they are true competitors, something you and your kid lack.

After going to the Northview final and the Amat final - I cannot believe how TACKY, how CLASSLESS, how RUDE it was for South Hills to leave the field after the runner-up presentation and BEFORE the Championship award!!! I have been reading the blogs for awhile and what a bunch of snot-nosed, whining, punky brats this group of kids seems to be...Delafuente started all the awareness with his shenanigans but it seems to be more than just him that has showed poor taste. Time to become fine, young men not the little bratty, crying babies you have shown in the last few weeks. Man up - as they say.

All though i do agree that the 6th inning call at 2nd that kep ND alive, leading to a run, and the call that roddy left early on the sac fly were both blatantly bad calls shhs lost predominatley because they didnt play up too par. Tough to win any game when the rf lets one under his glove that leads to 3 runs and delafuente, buffington and doyle ur 3,4,5 hitters combine for 0 production. SHHS needed to play better to beat a team like ND. No question the pitching for shhs was there but they lacked in some key departments.

Its funny I question Coach Smith at the beginning of the season about a player making the team that never played baseball. His answer was "he is going to be a designated runner", I laugh and told him if he knew any baseball he just can't put a running back with no baseball experience to run . It just shows what an idiot he is, it's true what everyone says, he s**ks! Nice call just retire you moron, do it for the kids that way they have a chance to win a C.I.F championship.

Smith went with the younger players and they made mistakes expected.
There were a lot to good players on the bench (players who know how to read a pitcher as they get a steal sign from the coach...Know when to tag and not to tag...

SH had good players on the bench but it seemed by mid season that Smith had his mind on the future rather then in the present.. He’s thinking about his future or legacy rather then the kids.

last year one of his out going Seniors told me how in his last season, he was shunned for the younger players.

Also many good players didn’t even make the team because of fathers options, favorites etc..
(little league stuff)

This year SH had about 4 seniors benched, never really playing even when they showed well...

Teams sometimes give a game away, in this case SH had too many mental mistakes, one key error and umps did not help. Head coach was not the ultimate reason why SH lost, kids made wrong descions on their own.
On the positive ND did not beat us, we gave them the game and scoreboard is the only thing that counts.

Here we go again. Why would Coach Smith rant and rave about the umpires when all he has to do is look at himself and his team. Think about it - here are some keys plays that ruined a victory for SHHS. Number one - Cameron Deen's misque in right field. Number 2 - His football player/designated runner gets caught in a run down - why would you put this player in a key situation such as that? Number 3 - Don't forget who was coaching third base when Danny Roddy left early and was called out. Number 4 -Probably left Klena in two innings too long despite his strong performance. Smith should buy a rocking chair and watch from the outfield next year!

I was going to post a comment on the attitude that the "Dawgs" are displaying, but then i reconsidered. i think its safe to say that what's done is done and there is nothing you can do about it. One thing that I will say is that i think everyone will remember who the runner up is in this case based on their actions.

To all Amat parents, lets flood the stadium tomorrow night and show St.Paul the class act that we are. Let's go work hard and bring home another banner.

You can't pick and choose posts to form an opinion. Why is "lancer nation" typical and not a post like the one from Amat 73 that is just above it? Or Redryder-Blue who told another poster not to talk smack because "... its not the Amat way."

In reality those opinions are far more prevailing among the true Amat Family compared to the "lancer nation wannabes" that want to jump on the bandwagon and pound their chest with false bravado - a small group of people that we are trying to battle.

We've lost a bundle of CIF finals. Those are tough to take, and it's not until later do you realize that you still accomplished a lot to get there.

Shame on South Hill Coaches and players for not showing respect by staying on the field while ND received their awards. No one remembers the runner up - especially one that is unsportsmanlike like.

Tapia ask Bill why most players that are SGV studs left the Hurricanes as they got older and you had to go out and merge with a team from South Gate (The Scopions) Players left because the team was becoming a Homie team. Even went as far as changing the colors to Silver and Black. RAIDERS! Hurricanes Suck! Thats why they came to the Dukes. We really didn't want them or their coaches.

We at least went to Dodger Stadium lst year and won it all, as well as winning with class and showing sportmanship along the way. You blame the umps, you hate your coach and you misrepresented the SGV and the San Antonio league with that display of poor losers. Your parents are the worse in defeat. A bench player makes that play in RF but coach went with Cameron Deen why because of name and he is the starting QB. NOT VERY SMART!

Dont blame the umpires, that is a sad excuse in any loss. Man up the better team won. As far as your class by leaving as ND got their awards typical of SHHS , when they win they expect everyone to bow to them when they lose they are classless. Again no one remembers the runner up. To South Hills: What the baseball Gods giveth, they also can take away. Great quote. I call it karma. The team deserved to win but their coach as usual screwed it up by changing the line up to accommodate one player. I read the “Huskies’ Inspiration” article and thought it was nothing short of an insult to the rest of the team. The team did well because now they were finally given the change to show what they could do instead of always playing second fiddle to DLF. There are a lot of great players on the team this year, there have been lots of great players in previous years, but every year it’s the same. Focus on one or two players and forget the rest of the team. Just curious -- did any other baseball player from SH get a college recommendation from Coach Smith?

South Hills will never win a CIF championship under Coach Smith. It’s Karma. What goes around - comes around. Treat people unfairly and it will come back to bite you. He is a sad excuse for a high school coach and embarrassment to high school athletics.

Exciting game, and typical of close games, little things make the difference, including controversial calls. However, when you have a runner picked off costing you a run, when your right fielder lets a ball go through his legs costing you one, if not two runs, when your catcher on a pitch out and the runner out by 15 feet throws to the wrong side of the base, when you put in a pinch runner with no baseball experience make two base running mistakes thus squandering a lead-off double, when you three, four and five hitters do not produce one hit, when in the 7th you leave any doubt about leaving early on a tag up especially since the outfielder is throwing to second to hold the tying run at first, you are almost certain to lose, especially to a quality opponent. Nevertheless, congratulations on a great season. All of the remaining teams in your division would trade places with you. To all the seniors, best of luck in your future, and to all of the players, may this be your greatest disappointment in life.

it's a known tradition, all the old as dirt umps get the finals as some kind of reward, they should have the best officials out there, but nooooooo, the good old boys screw that up, with that being said, I can't believe what I hear from every player and coach at shhs, they're all whining the umps cost us, like you've never had the calls go your way!!

Hopefully im wrong and its a barn burner but dont think it will be. Either way SGV is a winner and best of luck to Bishop Amat DIV 5 or not its still a championship.

I just got back from the SH game at Dodger Stadium. I have to say that I am absolutely embarrassed by the VERY POOR sportsmanship of the SH players. It was obvious they were all sore losers when they walked off the field after their awards presentation and could not show a little respect by staying on the field while ND received their awards. Shame on the coaches for allowing this type of behavior! Show some class!!

Great job South Hills & Norte Dame. Not everyone gets the opportunity to play in a championship game, maybe this is what makes people mad.
Overall you guys took your game to the next level..it was a good game. But please remember how you got there, thank your parents and your coaches who prior to your HS days gave you the chance and dedicated time to your success... GREAT JOB GUYS

Two unearend runs cost the game, add 3 running mistakes cost SH another 2 runs. Umpires were just horrible, CIF president apologizes to SH.

ND did not beat SH, we beat ourselves today. They are a better team but this was our game.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame has its first section championship after claiming a 4-2 victory over South Hills in the Southern Section-Toyota Division III finals here at Dodger Stadium.

The Huskies had a chance with runners on first and third with no outs in the seventh inning. Dimitri Delafuente hit a fly ball to center and Danny Roddy tagged up and scored -- or so appeared at first. The Knights appealed third base and Roddy was out. South Hills' Tyler Buffington grounded out to end the game.

And so that is why the Notre Dame celebration is underway.

gotta love these amat fans with the foul mouths. I sure hope they didnt teach you to cuss at amat. shame on you!

Line drive up the middle by Dugan puts Notre Dame up now 4-2 with two outs. Sophomore Dakota Behr now pitching for South Hills, he replaces Derek Klana. Trevor Gee now up to the plate with two outs. Trevor Gee strikes out to end the inning for Notre Dame.

After a leadoff single by Danny Roddy. Notre Dame takes out starting pitcher Rodarte and is now replaced by Sophomore David Amendariz, 6 foot right handed pitcher. Can ND hold off South Hills?

Infield single by Christian Ibarra, now has South Hills with two runners on and no outs.

Hate to pile on SH, but I'm a La Serna parent and their game was a great game, with DLF's HR being the only difference. La Serna is definitely the equal of SH, which is a darn good team. But....at the game, I sat by a group of parents that were the worst all year. Yelling at the umps constantly, yelling at the LS coaches, making a bunch of bush league cracks about our field, etc. Having been to all of our games this year and seeing lots of teams' fans, I'd have to agree that SH's were the worst, and the kids are a reflection of that as well. By comparison, Crespi's parents and kids were totally classy, showed respectful behavior and took the loss like adults.

The kids have talent and deserve to be in the championship, but many of the fans did not represent the supposedly "nice" area of Covina very well. That is a fact.

idk about that.. i wouldnt be bragging about the San Antonio league nor being in Division III

I'm not a big Dawg fan but I wouldn't discount their chances. ND is beatable. Just ask Whittier, who beat ND during the St. Paul tournament. SH is a much better team.
