I team from Pasadena High School would have wiped yawl ass royally! Amat needs those rich white kids and city African Americans from the past to do anything again, that’s why they hired the coaching staff they did to get those types of players. I really don’t see it happening, but hey privets could do anything. I’m also glad the divisions have changed, because we the WSGV are about to start getting some championships again! Especially, in the SOUTHEAST DIVISON! A lot of Pasadena players play in that division and since we are on the rise you can best believe we’re going to start keeping our home grown talent. I can’t wait for the ESGV vs. WSGV All star so we can wipe yawl out to start the dominance!

Please do not confuse those parents with Alumni. Yes we were taught better and I am sure if you read the various post you can tell when it is an Alum and when it is a parent.The comments you speak of probably come from the new breed of parent which many of us have spoken about in posts. They do not reflect how we feel and how we reply but , if you do choose to bash our school you better believe we will come down on that poster if warranted because we are going to defend AMAT . & Harts & Canyon Countrys &
& Moorparks etc. would have rolled Amat & anyone else in the Valley the past few years.

Couldn't agree more on the preleague comment. Last year LA had some dogs (LB Wilson, Rosemead), and some good teams (Damien, St. Francis, Western). Gano is not an idiot, and wouldn't schedule the upper D1 schools in preleague, only to get beatup (which happened anyway (McBride, Rodriguez))before league. He's just realistic on what his team is capable of in preleague, and schedules accordingly. LA was D6, and has now been moved to the Southeastern (D7). I don't particularly like it, but when the talent flow drops off like it has over the past 20 years, what can you do?

I've been trying to state the same case for quite some time regarding divisions.

You have NO real control over the division you are placed in. The best teams at the lower divisions can surely beat the bottom teams in levels above them and can probably compete with middle of the pack teams. In many sports you could put the final four from the top 5 divisions and have a heckuva tournament. After that is when the separation starts to happen.

The league a school is in is mostly out of your control as well. So schools have to do what they have to do. BUT, those non-league games are the ones that a school can control - and THOSE are the ones that will determine where a team fits in the grand scheme of things. If they choose not to "schedule up" during those times - it's hard to tell.

When you were there LA used to compete in the highest level with great success. The drop was probably a function of the rise of the Citrus Belt and some OC leagues as much as anything. The teams with Felipe and Cody could probably have given a game to many DI's, but depth is where the difference might begin.

LB Wlison finished 1-9 last year and has been the doormat for the league for years. Congratulations on your achievements.

First of all what test scores are you talking about and are you sure they are all the same between schools. Second, your post of the number of championships. Yes LA does have the numbers but weren't most of those won after they were dropped to the lower divisions whereas ours other than the 61 title have been at the highest level which we are still at . Plus your post should pose the question as to why has LA stayed at the lower division despite winning so many years.We have one title and hopefully will get another in d-5 in baseball and are catching nothing but hell over it. Can you imagine what would happen if they dropped AMAT to say d-4 in football based on the past 2 years.

The Pac-5 is beyond a doubt the elite division but that does not equate to each and every team being of elite status. LA has beaten LB Wilson three years running and they are part of the Moore League.

The problem with amat is the chest thumping, we're the best, machismo, ghetto attitude, that comes from the (hopefully) few parents that are under the belief that just because they paid for an education, "It has to be the best".

Problem is, none of you have a sense of humility. You're too quick to react to attacks on your school. If your "high paid" religious teachings tought you nothing in these regards, you really did overpay for your education.

To say that LA in the last 10 years is elite and AMAT is not tells me you do not even follow AMAT Football. Yes our last couple of years have been not up to our standards but in the Difiori era we had very outstanding teams that did beat Loyola ,Mater Dei , Servite ,Santa Marguerita, and others not to mention every team in the valley that would play us, most notably absent from the list of those teams is LA. To say that AMAT is not on the list of the best in valley over the last 10 years is just showing how far off base you really are.

Play these teams and just play them close, you don't even have to win. If I was to rank the best teams in the Valley over the last ten years I would have LA during the Cody and Aguilar era as an elite teamnot Amat.

The Pac 5 is the elite division because Edison, Esperanza, Los Alamitos, Long Beach Poly, Lakewood, Crespi, Notre Dame, Amat, Loyola, Mission Viejo, Tesoro, Mater Dei, Orange Lutheran, Servite, Santa Margarita are all in the same division and have been some of the better programs in the state and in the country for the past, I don't know, Twenty years.

Are you kidding me? What a joke the Southeast Division, they were combined with the OC schools, not they are not. What a joke. The best Leagues are the San Antonio and Miramonte - The Championship will come from one the schools in that Division Charter Oak, South Hills,LA, Wes Co all have a chance to be a division Champion. Its a weak division. Since were looking to be fair in the level of competition; South Hills should move up to the Baseline and Diamond Bar should move into the San Antonio. That would make it really interesting.

Well CIF football playoffs should be interesting. Maybe this year the public schools will show the Mater Dei's and Servite's Whats Up!

I hope now we can get rid of all the Division 1,2,3 etc. talk. Pac 5 is definitely the elite division with the Northern and Inland being the next dominant.
