Shouldn't there be a state baseball playoff?

| | Comments (1) |

I was talking with Bishop Amat baseball coach Andy Nieto, who said CIF told him they're exploring the possibilities of state baseball playoffs in the future. Wouldn't this make sense? Baseball is the one sport where a Div. VI team could beat a Div. I in a playoff, and it's a tournament you could do in a week at a place like Cal State Fullerton. I'd take the seven division champions plus an at-large from Division one. Perfect, an eight-game playoff that would decide everything. Football and basketball do it, but it makes the most sense in baseball where Cinderella's actually have a fighting chance.

I agree -- that would be really cool to see. When might this be a possibility?
