Soft: Glendora, SDimas, NView, Amat, win

| | Comments (38) |

Quarterfinal schedule updated with predictions
Thursday's games
Division II
Vista Murrieta at Glendora, 3:15 p.m. (Glendora, why doubt Tarts now?)
Division IV
Alemany at Bishop Amat, 3:15 p.m. (Amat, Lancers win rematch)
Division V
San Dimas at San Jacinto, 3:15 p.m. (SDimas, My sleeper all along).
Northview at North Torrance, 3:15 p.m. (NTorrance, Those Pioneer teams are tough).
Division VI
South El Monte at Calvary Murrieta, 3:15 p.m., (Murrieta, It won 25-1 in 2nd round)

Second round impressions: Don't have all the scores yet, but obviously Bishop Amat has destroyed its first two opponents and Glendora pulled the shocker of the postseason, knocking off No. 2 Etiwanda in the second round. San Dimas is also moving on after an easy, 8-0 win over Schurr. And look what happened to our top team, Los Altos, getting outed in the second round. That hurts.

Tuesday's second round results
Division II
Glendora 1, Etiwanda 0
Division III
Paloma Valley 4, Los Altos 0
Division IV
Ocean View 3, Rowland 2
Bishop Amat 19, South Hills 0
Downey 9, Walnut 4
Division V
San Jacinto 2, Covina 1
San Dimas 8, Schurr 0
Northview 1, Village Christian 0, 9 innings
Division VI
South El Monte 2, Kern Valley 0

Conqueror fans. Stop complaining. They lost. give them a break. They worked hard this season just back off. Diana isn't the whole team But she is a darn good player it takes a team to win not just an individual. Good luck next year ladies.

any nominations for coach of the year for softball

FredJ said:

I can't remember the last time a field player was the player of the year. It's almost always a pitcher, just because of their impact on the game, especially in softball. But there are some interesting field players deserving of consideration.

softballfollower said:

I said it before, Dianna Lynn is a great pitcher but she needs a few runs. Lack of Senior Leadership killed LA not Gano. LA has about 4-5 good players, a couple more and they would be scoring runs at will. there are 3-4 juniors that should have big years next year along with Gano and there is a sophmore that has proven herself in the OF.

Gano will have them back and scoring runs next year, their studs will be back and so will LA softball.

I havn't heard anyone giving props to Amat, they sure are on a roll. I think that loss to LA woke them up. Good luck to the Lady Lancers.

As for Traxler for player of the year??? Dianna Lynn deserves a lot of consideration but Amat is still in the playoffs. Lets see if Traxler can lead her team to a championship then we will look at Player of the Year awards.

TRUE TRUE IM HAPPY THAT GLENDORA WON AND SAD LOS ALTOS LOST BECAUSE IN OUR AREA.
THAT WAS 2 YRS AGO AND THIS YEARS GLENDORA TEAM IS BETTER AND WENT FARTHER THAN YOU.
DANA IS A JUNIOR AND MAY BE JUST AS GOOD AS PATTERSON

Jessica Traxler for Tribune Player of the Year!

LA said:

Fred,

I understand your position, being that Gano is the AD at LA and you don't want to loose that relationship. But I will say this much, it is going to get real interesting with Mr. Roberts leaving this year. Gano does what he wants with Mr. Roberts as Principal.

FredJ said:

Why would I be looking into Whittier Christian and Torrance? They're no playing any of our locals.

FredJ said:

LA, I wouldn't believe you, or anyone else on here about what the level of someone's approval rating is.

SD Parent said:

Fred,
What do you know about Whittier Christian and Torrance, besides their stats.

AreaSoftballFan said:

Fred,
That's great about Glendora but San Dimas is doing the same thing. Heck they went in as a wild card...

OUCH!! South Hills.

LA said:

Fred,

Just for the record over at LA the Gano bandwagon is pretty low these days.

FredJ said:

Some of you Conq fans are starting to sound bandwagonesque. Anyway, player of the year is all up for grabs, wouldn't you agree. Glendora is emerging as the top team all along. Winning the Sierra League followed by a win over No. 2 Etiwanda and now a quarterfinal appearance. Great stuff.

wow said:

LA,

Maybe you should think before you talk because Gano has had coaching experience at the high school level. About 6 years ago he was the varsity coach at LA. Get it right idiot

LA said:

ConqAlum,

Let's talk about Gano, Football program is a mess, Gano quits. Softball program is in great shape and Gano gives himself the head coaching job.

Now let’s look at this from the outside. One of the best softball programs in the area and LA hires a coach that has zero experience at the High School level to be the varsity head coach. I guess since you are doing the hiring you can hire yourself. Real interesting that while Farnworth was the head coach last year Gano told many that he wanted to coach his daughter in high school.

When you have talent it is the coach’s job to get these kids to work together, so bottom line Gano failed.

AreaSoftballFan said:

Still a LA Fan and Patterson Fan,
So you're telling us that all 4 runs were unearned??? Even if they were unearned the last time everyone checked LA scored 0.

FredJ said:

They will do the coin flips around 10 a.m., I'll post it on this thread when I get it.

ConqAlum said:

I'm no softball fan, but all you Gano haters have to give it a break. It's not like he's making bad X, and O calls here. If the girls can't step up their performance, and play when it's all on the line, you can hardly blame the coach.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? DONT EVEN OPEN UP THAT CAN OF WORMS. DO YOU NOT REMEMBER GETTING BEAT 2 YEARS AGO BY ALIL' FRESHMAN THAT GOES BY THE NAME DIANA LYNN PATTERSON? NOW 2 YEARS LATER SHES DEFINITLELY STRONGER.AND SHELL DO IT AGAIN! I MEAN COME ON YOU GUYS BARELY BEAT MAGGIE KARROS 1-0! WHEN SHE PITCHED FOR BONITA HER 1ST 2 YEARS LA LITE HER UP!YOU GUYS SQUEAK BY HER AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR BETTER I HIGHLY DOUBT IT!JUST BE HAPPY YOU WON OK DONT COME ON HERE TALKING MESS WHEN ITS NOT NEEDED! PATTERSON FAN said:

HEY LA FANS

IF YOU WERE THERE YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN IT YOURSELF THE ERROR AND COMPLETE LAZINESS OF SOME PLAYERS BUT DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT BASH THE PITCHING THAT KID PITCHED HER HEART OUT!!!ITS TO BAD HER TEAM DEPENDS SOLELY ON HER!!! SHE CANT PLAY ALL 9 SPOTS! HOW DARE YOU EVEN CALLYOURSELF AN LAFAN YOUR A DISGRACE!

PATTERSON YOU ROCKED!

Fred
Who plays who next and any predictions?

LA Fans said:

Stop making excuses...
Bottom line, the other was better!!! And obviously your pitching and offense wasn't good enough!

Conq fan said:

LA, I dont think it's lack of coaching, more like lack of defense, when you have your third baseman making 3 errors and your right and center fielder standing around when the ball is hit to them it's not like the coach can make the plays for them

LA said:

"girls will be committed" one response to that.

COACHING .......

or lack of .......

That what you get when you put a father as the head coach.......

LA softball fan said:

LA Conq,
Your right about the pitcher from Paloma Valley she was one of the better pitcher's we have faced all year along with there team. There girls were ready to play and LA did'nt have the defense or offense in yesterday's game, we were alittle off not making routine play's the errors once again killed us and in CIF you know you have to come out ready and on top of you game, it is ashame our season ended like this because we know we are a better team, hopefully next year all the girls will be committed and ready to be part of the LA softball team.

milkmantothestars said:

so Gano quit coaching football, to devote his time to softball, because his daughter is there, wow.......maybe they shoulda kept Farnworth, I guess gano does run the school, after all, lol

The pitcher from Paloma Valley was nails today! She was as tough as any pitcher the Conquerors faced all year. Granted, the Conqs didn't swing the bats real well all afternoon, but let's give credit where credit is due.

Good luck next year ladies...you have so much potential to succeed if you learn from your weaknesses this year.

Fred, why isn't a trainer or medical personel mandatory at all high school sporting events. In the Covina Vs San Jacinto game one of the San Jacinto players had her fingers in the fence and the on deck batter swung and crunched her fingers and it appeared she fainted. The Covina Coach pointed out that Covina had no trainer availabe as is the case for most of the sporting events except football. Fred speak up on this and ask all schools to provide this service. What an embarassment to the school to have an injury situation and no trainer. What is your opinion on this fellow fans. Let's hear from you.

Bfan said:

Melanie Nichols and San Jacinto won 2-1 today in a closely played game. Jill Hunstman pitched her heart out but an error by the left fielder with 2 outs opened the door for San Jacinto to go ahead 2-1. In the previous inning Jessica Ulrich was sent home by the Covina coach Joe but when she saw the throw was going to beat her she retreated to 3rd base and was out. Great season Colts. It was a touching scene to see Jill Hunstman taking out the pitching rubber and raking the pitching circle for the last time as a senior.Great season ladies you made us proud...Colt fan
