Is your answer that they are teenagers and I should over look it because of that fact. For you to assume that these types of posts only come from youngsters , well then you need to pull your head out of the sand and take a look at what goes around you. Just look at some of the replies to the CO yearbook incident. Not all those replies are from teenagers which should tell you why we all should care. But maybe that train of thought is ok with you .

Typical reponse from a hater. You over look the fact of all these posts concerning the area and the comments about race and the other things I mentioned in my post and say nothing of that, but when we come on here to answer to these idiots in language they will understand you nail us . Why don't you have anything to say about them and their comments. Or are you just another person looking for an AMAT person to write something negative and then jump on that. Believe me if you were on our end you would be tired of it also. If they want to be critical of AMAT let it be on something of a real issue ( illegal transfers , doctoring grades, ineligible players) but to come on here with same old comments is getting old quick. By the way what did anybody post to bring on the reply sent by boyeee,I see you didn't tell him to grow up , but that's ok in your book.

jcaz,
I am only stating that to compare the transfer of Gilmore is not in the least the same of changing the coaches. I meant no disrespect to any coaches but the fact is it did look at times like no one had a clue and if you went to any games you saw it also, not their fault just a lack of experience. As far as the faithful you speak of that showed no loyalty they are probably part of this so called "amat nation" that many of us true faithful have no use for and hopefully in a couple of years will be gone and we will again be THE FAMILY that we have always been. Bottom line is we owe it to the youngsters who stuck with the program thru the tuff times and are going to benefit from top notch coaching for they are the true LANCERS. If you are a LANCER you are not only my friend you are FAMILY.

jcaz said:

Come on now. I gave you an analogues example of my point, and you disagreed. Ok, I go it, but please don’t' split hairs with me on this one simply because I used Verdi in my example.

The facts are that a losing program is to be replaced by "recruited coaches" who are going to try to make things better. And no matter how much you try to dodge this point, the folks at Amat are happy to see this change because success is measured in achievements, not failures.

My friend, and by the way, I call you my friend because I know that in the end, we both support Amat athletics very much, but, perhaps in different ways.

However, you spoke in eloquent terms about loyalty, and about the idea of "sticking it out, even under adverse conditions" yet I did not see that loyalty exemplified in the spoken words of the Amat faithful last year. Of course, I am not blaming you for the words of others, but the facts are what they are.

Indecently, some people did sick up for Verti, but the facts once again were, that, not too many did

One more thing here, no matter how much we disagree on a few issues, please don’t disrespect those fine people who gave their time and energy to the football program last year by saying that "nobody on the sidelines had a clue as to what was going on in the field." These fine people did their best without a lot of good young players who transferred out of the program.

People at Amat, want to see a winner. You want to see a winner. Let’s leave it at that.

AMAT 73 said:

jcaz,
Don't change the subject . You were talking about Gilmore not Verti. Yes we are happy to have Hags because what he brings to the table is experience and yes he has won before. It wasn't the losing in as much as the way we lost. At many times it looked like nobody on the sidelines had a clue as to what was happening on the field. Lack of experience . It was not Verti's fault he was put into that situation but he took it knowing the consequences would be pretty harsh after what DiFiori went thru his last couple of years.Do you think he really left only because he wanted to spend more time with family. Recruiting coaches is one thing , players is another . You could say Verti resigned because he is a true LANCER and he did it for the good of the program , but to prove your point you cannot see it that way because it does not justify your point. If you remember there were a few of us who blogged to give Verti a chance and maybe he will turn it around and to also not air our dirty laundry in public because all that did was add fuel to haters fire like you have done with your Gilmore post.Just look at the number of replies that agree with you. NONE. Disagree,NUMEROUS.

jcaz said:

As I said earlier, when Verti resigned, there was a big sigh of relief...

Remember that.

Everyone of you folks who have disagreed with my comments, are not being completely truthful to what you say you stand for here.

After all, we "recruited" a new coach and we threw the old one under the bus because he was a failure. Don’t forget that!

Keep in mind that Verti was as much a Lancer as anyone here, yet you were tired of losing to teams that you have never lost to in the history of the football program and as result, you felt that a change for the better was needed.

And by the way, please don’t come back in here and say that he resigned on his own, because, while that is technically true, we all know that he left, because of the pressure he was under.

Now, if all this talk, is a reflection of true Lancer sentiment, and if I read all this stuff correctly (from what has been posted so far, from the folks who did not agree with me), then why did we not bother to stick with Verti ?

Let me see, the quote was..."Does sticking with your team and playing thru adversity and maybe you lose, mean you are a failure?" No, it means that you are a success because you did not take the easy way out”…

Tell me then, why did we bother to make a change? And why are we so eager to watch this upcoming season unfold? Because success is measured on achievements and not failures. Would Hag’s be here if he never won before?

I mean, if having loyalty is so important, and recruiting is such a no no, then why were so many people so happy now? Why are we so excited about next year? Is it because we were able to “recruit” such a good group of coaches that will lead us back to glory? Or is it because we were able to “show true loyalty” to Verti ?

To jcaz ,
First of all playing at AMAT is not a guarranteed ticket to a D-1 scholarship. As I had stated talent is talent and with his talent in football and track he is sure to get a ride somewhere regardless of playing at Wilson. There is a saying " When the going gets tough the tough get going." Imagine if those players sucked it up and stayed things might have been different, but to leave to better yourself as you say just doesn't sit to well with alot of people. Many times in life people are faced with things that seem unsurpassable but they dig in and get it done. As you stated that in this country success is based on achievments not failures. Does sticking with your team and playing thru adversity and maybe you lose, mean you are a failure. No it means you are success because you did not take the easy way out by clinging to what you thought would be a winner only to lose. Now that is being a failure not only to yourself but to what you stand for in life. One more thing before I end this . AMAT is what it has always been which is AMAT. Yes championships are part of it,but WE ARE AMAT win or lose and LANCERS stay loyal thru thick or thin. Sorry to other bloggers for this long winded reply but it really did gring my gears when I read that first post on "The case for Gilmore ".

Joe Amat said:

The other reality is that it is very rare that Amat would accept a senior transfer for any reason. At least that has been the "unofficial" official policy in the past.

Believe it or not they actually value the diplomas they issue and feel that an Amat graduate needs to *earn one* by putting in the time learning on campus - rather than showing up for a "one and done" and then collecting one.

jcaz,

There is a life lesson to be learned here, one that I think is being taught to young Mr. Gilmore by his parents/guardians.

It would be best for Gilmore to stay right where he is, he is already on the wish list of many D1 college programs. Check the recruiting services and you will see!

Please, stop trying to get a rise out of all the other posters.

jcaz said:

Amat 73

If you recall, the last few years, the program under Verti has, at best, been a program in decline.

In fact, almost all the blogers on this forum came in here and continuously bashed Verti for the teams poor performance. As a result, a great many of the best players left the team because they realized that there was very little chance for success by playing at Amat. Where they wrong to have done so? Well, let’s see.

When Verti finally resigned, there was a big sigh of relief from the Amat faithfull. Not because he wasn’t a good man or a good coach, but because folks believed that there was going to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Now, given those facts, can we honestly say that we can blame those who decided to make a bad situation better for themselves? No. Because, in this country, we all believed that success is biased on achievements, not failures.

Amat then, was not what it used to be.

Unfortunately, in this world, we all have to make personal decisions that are in our own best interests, and sometimes those decisions are not popular with others.

But the reality is, that no one here on this blog, be it his uncle bob or his high school coach, will be paying Gilmore’s bills when he gets into the real world. Given that fact, does he owe anyone anything? What do you think?

Trying to recruit a kid who has the sack to stick things out at Wilson with a new coach and potentially a bad team? Jcaz? You have hit an all time low with those comments. The other blogger was right. This is why people don't like amat. Low Class

AMAT 73 said:

jcaz,
I can't believe what I am reading here. Why after what happened to us with transfers would you get on here to profess the transfer of a senior to another school to better his chances for a scholarship.Isn't that what a number of the players who transfered out last year used as their reason and the majority of the AMAT followers looked at that as selfish and showing no loyalty . Not true LANCERS as many said. Also what makes you think he would be put ahead of all the other juniors and seniors who have put the 3 or 4 years of hard work and also sticking with the program despite the past 2 years of misery. I would think that if he is as talented as it is said and I am sure he is he will be found no matter who Wilson schedules. Talent is talent. Hopefully he will stay at Wilson no matter what that will bring and be able to say that he stuck it out and was loyal to his alma mater.

Cheesy you say...well pass the mayo !

Actually, I know the way it sounded was really going ot set off a few folks on this thread.

But the facts are what they are and the fact is that everything I said in that post was true.

If for example, you were to look at all the issues I brought up, even the most die hard hater would have to admit that such a move would strongly benifit the young man down the road.

Would you at least give me that ?

Gilmore is a good impact player but Amat is fine with what they have. If Gilmore was to be at Amat he would have been there already. This also goes for So. Hills, Los Altos Damien, West Covina and Diamond Ranch. Give the gentleman credit he is not abandoning his teamates or his soon to be alma mater. Loyalty runs deep with Tim so let him be.

this is why peeps hate Amat said:

jcaz -- HAVE YOU NO INTEGRITY?? How tacky to come on here and pose such a phony, cheesy attempt at some major recruiting. AND this is just another classic reason WHY so much hatred towards Amat. I have no vested interest in Gilmore but now -- I would HATE to see him go to Amat. SHAME, man that was just classless.

The case for Gilmore

Recently if you recall, Fred pulled an Aprils fools joke on all of us when he said that Gilmore was going to enroll at Amat.

Well, if there was ever a time for him to do so, it would have to be pretty soon.

The reason I bring this up at this time now, is because I have long considered the importance of the issue, and the impact that it would make on so many of the programs in the SGV.

It is because of that, that I have come to the conclusion that, there are a number of compelling reasons why he should, and perhaps even, why he should not enroll at Amat.

The first and foremost reason for him not to enroll in Amat, is of course the idea of "sticking it out with you’re classmates," eventhough the place he is play at now, most likely will not have a great impact on his ability to go to D! football program in college.

Although that is a very strong argument, and it is one in which, I am certain, in the end, will most likely determine his decision for his senior year, I think he should consider what a move to Amat will mean to him.

The fact are that a school such as Amat could easily give young Gilmore a spring board to the next level is not one to be so easily dismissed. It would be an understanding to suggest otherwise.

Keep in mind that all I am going to say is nothing new here. In fact, these are topics and issues that have been long discussed here on this blog many a time.

But consider this, among the most important reason for him to go to Amat, is for the national exposure that he would receive playing against schools such as OL, Crespi, Notre Dame and others in the pac5 playoffs. That kind of exposure would be sorely lacking where he is at now.

There is a far more personal and professional (yes I said professional) questions to be answered for him, and the most important of them all, is the question of where does he go next?

Of course I believe he should be at Amat, and of course, yes, you all know me as an Amat homer. So, it is not surprising to know that I think, that he, and his parents (uncle bob included) should take a hard look at what Amat can do for him as an athlete, and as a human being.
