Monday Morning Football
Your questions....
From FoSchizzle: Any news on Snoop Doggs Kid? He's a good athlete, I believe he's going to Diamond Ranch. What kind of effect would that bring to the school and it's staff?
Robledo: First his name is Corde Broadus, but they call him "Spanky," he's a very good athlete, will be a wide receiver or quarterback and is expected to be a very talented player someday. I would be all for it, simply because Snoop has done a lot for youth football, and I think he would continue with that kind of support in high school, regardless of his past problems and everything else that comes with being Snoop. I talked to coach Layton this morning, who said he's not sure where Spanky's going. He's heard that he might go to DRanch, but feels Long Beach Poly is probably where he will wind up. I even heard Bishop Amat, but we'll find out next week when freshman enroll for summer school.

From JCaz: Fred, You mentioned that Northview tried to get Bishop Amat on the schedule this year but ended up with South Hills instead. Well, I am curious as to how these sort of things work themselves out. So, without naming any names or giving away any secrets how is it that schools accept or reject an offer from other schools?
Robledo: It's not that difficult, It was probably the middle of the season last year when Vikings coach Jim Arellanes told me he was trying to up his schedule for 2008, and he mentioned BAmat and SHills. I talk to coaches all the time about potential games, sometimes it doesn't work out because of scheduling dates, and sometimes a certain team doesn't want to face another. I know of a few prominent schools around here that will not face Bishop Amat, and certain coaches have told me it's because they don't want to lose players to them.
From Why: Why isn't Charter Oak and Glendora playing again?
Robledo: From what I understand Glendora chose to to play them again, not because they lost last year, but certain events that transpired, which the Tartans coaching staff wouldn't go into.
Or, maybe this is your answer :)

I think i just had a light bulb appear over my head thanks to your blog. lol good job.
Very nice blog. Thanks for the great tips!
Many thanks for the marvelous blog posting! I found your post very interesting, I believe you are a excellent writer. I added your blog to my bookmarks and will return in the futureto your blog. Keep up that exciting job, have a great daytime!
thanks for it
mrman, here is my response,
1 - A)The city does not generate a lot of jobs, it's mostly small stores and businesses. The City of Industry generates the jobs as does Commerce, L.A., etc.... LP is what is termed a "bedroom community", where people live there but work someplace else. Most of the SGV falls under this scenario. B) A football stadium? You gotta be kidding me. Just what kind of jobs will that place generate? Those are mostly low paying service sector jobs and will the place be open 52 weeks out of the year? Hell no, you are looking at 10 games on Sunday and other scaterred events throughout the year. Can you support a family if that was your ONLY job? I think not. C) Gang problem? Sure there is one but Baldwin Park, El Monte, Azusa, and other areas also have the same problem. Why single LP out?
2 - How do you know the district spends more money south of Valley? Last time I saw LP got the new stadium while Wilson, and Los Altos are still waiting for theirs. Didn't you see the threads a while back about New Stadiums? The LA people were screaming as to why they haven't been given the time of day yet.
3 - So the county doesn't worry about BP, EM, Huntington Park, or other cities either? Who are we going to vote for? There are only 5 Supervisors and once they get into their slot, only death or retirement will take them out.
4 - Cops and programs? Sure but go back to 1-C) about the gangsters. Last time I looked, we are not exclusive to this problem.
5 - New houses? Take drive thru LP and find me some open land to build them. There isn't space to put up a doll house anymore. West Covina is building on a dump and Azusa has to go into the mountains. Covina? BP? EM? Building new homes will not keep the riff raff out, just look at Victorville, Palmdale, and other outlying areas. When they built cheap housing out there, the riff raff who couldn't afford houses took their problems to those towns.
So there you have it mrMAN. Bottom line is that you are just like all the rest who just like to talk crap about LP and Amat. Try something else please.
Here are your answers about LP:
1 - The city is a mess due to a lack of jobs and a high crime rate. Solution: get more companies to come into the SGV. If the football stadium is built in the city of industry, this will solve a lot of the economic/job problems. As for the crime rate: Get rid of the local cholo mess and the crime rate will go down.
2 - HLPUSD is only worried about the Hacienda Height schools. Until the district evenly distributes funds to improve all schools in the district, any school north of Valley Blvd will remain.
3 - LA county is not worried about any city that has a high population of minorities or a low socio-economic status. The only way the county will ever do something is if the people vote into office, people who want to see all of the SGV become a better place and not just the upper middle class areas.
4 - More cops, provide after school programs for the youth, and rid themselves of their decades long cholo problem.
5 - New houses means higher property value, which leads to more property tax money, which in turns goes back into the schools and the community. Also brand new homes bring in the type of people you want in your neighborhood. New homes will also help get rid of the riff raft that LP has!!
We could but it's much more fun to torment idiots like you.
dont you 2 old farts have something better to do? go put on your depends diapers and put them over your ugly faces
Stupid Idiot,
Read it again you dope! I was not asking you to defend it. If you can't understand the assignment, that's YOUR problem. Is it too late for you to sign up for a reading comprehension course in summer school?
toilet paper,
I call you that since you are the expert on crap holes or maybe brown nose because you might got your talent that way. If you think that is going to stop people from going to AMAT you are a bigger idiot than this blog makes you out to be with your assinine posts. No pun intended.

bleeds brown and yellow.
why should anyone work to defend that craphole? I am glad amat is in LP. It gives kids a reason to NOT go there.
For the idiots who criticize LP, here is your assignment:
1 - Explain HOW and why the city is a mess and offer your solutions.
2 - Explain how and why the schools are a mess and offer your solution.
3 - Explain the countys' role in LP vs. other cities in the SGV.
4 - Explain your solution to the crime rate in LP.
5 - Explain what "no new houses being built" has ANYTHING to do with the so called problems you describe. Extra point - pinpoint the exact location of these new houses you say need to be built. last time I checked, there IS no more open land in LP.
OK, there you have it, so start your research. If you cannot give any responses to any of these questions, then STFU!!!!!!!!!
once a craphole always a craphole,
La Puente is a incorporated city the county has nothing to do with the city of La Puente.
White Person,
I'm not trying to turn this into anything racial, but I was giving you another meaning. Not dumb, just another meaning..... I apologize if you thought I was trying to be sassy!
Huckster and Dranch, It was a question about the meaning of hood and you are trying to turn it into a race issue. very dumb!
Oh....snapppp!!! What a comeback Huckster!!
ask the amat people. they will know the answer to that question.
Wondering white person,
They call it the hood, because back in the day if your behind was caught in the wrong area the “Hooded” white people would kill you! See, brother we all play a part in this!
Do they call it the hood for Neighborhood? or do they call it the hood because of the Hoodlums>?
Race has nothing to do with LP being crap hole. LP is a crap hole because the city, the school district, and the county has done nothing to clean up the mess that the city has become.
mrman1,
That is where you're wrong.
You state, "At the end of the day, winning 4 football league titles in almost 90 years is nothing to brag about!!"
When you consider the conditions that you have stated about the school, community, crime report, etc., and if what you say is somewhat true, then, don't you think it IS something to brag about?
Then again, by the way you respond in these blogs, I suppose you are better off than everyone else, at least financially. You definitely aren't any better developmentally and/or socially.
ATP
Well, he's not throwing at LA freshman practice. Yesterday, or today.
ATP
Well, he's not throwing at LA freshman practice. Yesterday, or today.
The kid I am referring to is also a very good baseball, soccer player and all around athlete. I am almost positive he is at least 6-feet tall.
I let it run to show the ignorance of the people around us.
It is truly some ignorant people on this blog. More like "Net-twats". You guys sit and make all of these racists, bigot, prejudiced comments, and turn around and sit or work next to someone who is of Mexican and/or African american culture. I guess you have to figure that some if not most people are scared of what they see in the mirror every morning. It assumably hurts folks to know that the mayor of LA is puro blood mexican and that the next president might just be a african american. As I type this comment in response to these "underaged" and radically immature people on this blog, I am starting to smile because I have just realized that these people are like drunks. Alcoholics hide behind the liquor and most of you people hide behind your LCD screens and monitors. I hope your reading this stuff Fred "The Latino" Robledo. BTW im a african american man!!
NewConq, ATP
There were four kids throwing yesterday. The tall black kid wants to play safety, but the coaches had him throwing a bit. Of the other three kids, one is about 5'10", and the other two are about 5'7", or less.
ATP,
Yeah, that kid is good. I don't see anyone beating him out. Smart, Strong arm, and good foot work. Definitley white, but I don't think he is 6' ft at all. More like 5' 7".
Does anyone know what school he came from?
LA has some stud freshmen this year! They have this one white kid who is over 6 feet tall and has an amazing arm! It may take a few years but LA will make a come back.
ATP,

well said mr man. These people only defend LP because amat is located there. If you people like it so much why don't you move there? Don't forget to report back to us. And oh yes make sure you put bars up on all the windows
Race has nothing to do with LP being crap hole. LP is a crap hole because the city, the school district, and the county has done nothing to clean up the mess that the city has become. Crime, poor schools, no new houses being built, lack of jobs, etc are all reasons why LP is a crap hole. Clean up the city and then come back and talk to me.
As for LP Alum, until LP wins a CIF championship in a major sport, then the school will still be the little engine that could. At the end of the day, winning 4 football league titles in almost 90 years is nothing to brag about!!
Oh yeah, it's nice to be back on the board in the great SGV.
I like blacks...I even like chitlins and watermelon and fried chicken. So let's all stop stereotyping LP and the decent hard working class citizens that live there and let's go out and eat some tacos together with General Craphole and MrWoMan1.
Andale Pues.
Traffic at LA
There were 60-65 incoming freshman at "practice" yesterday (6-17-08) afternoon. That's probably down 20-25 kids from two years ago.
come on snoop drop it like its hot
Has anyone notice the huge traffic jam around Los Altos in the morning at summer school.
I hear this is the largest freshman class ever at LA.
The freshman football squad has huge numbers too.
Looks like LA will have a quick turn around.
The only reason the GHS coaching staff wouldn't comment is because they have no answers for COHS.
Come on all you haters! give it a REST! I bet NOT one of you know the Broadus family personally do you? Let me guess.....Your, cousins, sister's, friends, Mom knows them right? The three kids go to my childs school, and I know them personally! So, Im laughing at all the B.S., and jealousy that you bitter people are posting.Calvin has been on many field trips with the school and has always been gracious and kind to all the kids! We were at the beach and he signed autographs, took pictures, and talked on the phone to a boy's Dad that wanted to talk to him. Please note these people did'nt attend our school this is how he treated total strangers. He treated his son's 8th grade class to a private "performance"!He doesn't have to do that! He does it because he is a real nice guy! I hate to blow his cover but, his stage personality is NOTHING like the way he is in real life! SMART business man!Corde, is a nice, sweet, well-behaved, child. Keep your mouth off the kids. It's really sad when people have to drag other people down to make themselves feel or look better! I'm tired of hearing lies, and untruths if you don't know them personally ZIP IT!
Wow this is sad. All the racial comments on this blog. And you wonder why the ESGV and the Duarte/Monrovia areas have gone to crap. Listen to your selves. Talking about cities being crappy. And not wanting blacks in the area. Well im black and i grew up in LA Puente and went to one of the local schools. And ya a lot has changed over the last few years. There are some demographic changes but for the most part its all the same. LP is a decent city no better or worse the Whitter, pasadena, east LA.even many parts of the IE. The real thing is we let the perception of few dictate for the whole. We let people with simple minds and ideals tell us how to live. And were to send our kids. Well guess what that thinking rubs off on your kids and then your kids become simple minded and keep the cycle of stupidity and racism going. It's sad, ill admit when i went to the School in the LP area...there were over 40 black students well that number is down to about 12-15. Well over time the demo's and income of families have changed in LP. now but many of the schools lack there of blacks in the schools comes due to open enrollment. Parents are not sending there kids to these schools cause they feel there is this dangerous association with the schools. Well that is an example of the actions of few dictating for many. I am actually disgusted by these statements. If people took true care and pride in were they lived. LP and their schools would all be better off.
actually i took a huge crap while passing thru LP which was fitting considering that city motto is " take a crap here it already smells bad"
Bleeds Blu and Joe, ignorance is bliss and these anti black statements are definitely ignorant. Thats the point I was making. There are only 2 non black fooball athletes on the wall of fame, Mckay and Hayden. so, obviously the black athletes contribution at Amat is significant. Remember, I posed the question to those that had an issue with black athletes at Amat.
LUVTHISGAME,
You're barking up the wrong tree. That's the kind of ignorant comment that we are talking about. Throw enough against the wall and hope something sticks.
Retiring jerseys is not an optional, arbitrary decision at Amat. Instituted in the 80s retired jerseys go to Players who are CIF Players of the Year. So anyone that earns that honor, gets their jersey retired - regardless of race. Since then, Tanner, Patterson, Ili, McCutcheon , and Brown - you do the math.
Ignorance might be bliss.. but it's still ignorant.
By the way this guy talks (Mrman1, craphole, or whoever this person is), it has to be trauma.
Did you get your soda stolen when you were a kid walking to the liquor store that happened to be located in La Puente?
Did you get denied admission to Bishop Amat, which happens to be located in La Puente?
Did your girl cheat on you with some guy from La Puente?
Or, was it you getting beat up by someone (who happened to be from La Puente) for saying something not so smart?
You always talk about the city being a "craphole" but you don't really contribute anything of substance to even remotely support your theory.
By the way, Go Warriors!
Game,
you gotta be kidding. That makes THREE idiot statements here. Let's see there's Randy Tanner, Eric Bienemy, Ron Brown just to start. I'll go to the gym tomorrow and get the names of rest.
Both,
Nature blessed you with 2 crap holes, the one where you put food in and the other you speak with. Seems like we can't tell which is which.
Here is also something from a previous post:
the motto should be " all large belly raider fans are welcome here in the barrio"
Speaking of Blake Tillis, is he going to a JC like the majority of his former Amat teammates?
joe amat you are big on facts. According to the FBI the City of La Puente does real well in Murder. Your rate of Murder is 3.08 times higher than the national average. FACTS DONT LIE. AMAT AND LA PUENTE ARE BOTH CRAPHOLES
Well Fred, RACISM is alive and kicking along with IGNORANCE in the SGV. Speaking of Amat and certain of their fans apparent dislike for blacks, I pose a question. How many retired football jerseys on your precious Hall of Fame belong to black athletes? HMMMMMM
Major Craphole,
here is something ofr you from a previous post:
We here in La Puente have an unofficial city motto, "We Make You Feel At Home". If you think LP is a toilet city, it's because we accomodate crap like yourself when you leave your "home" and come "floating" into town. It's the trouble we go through when you show up so you will feel at home in your native habitat and you won't be like the old "fish" out of water.
BTW - you have now been promoted. You are now known as General Craphole.
Re: "League titles in what underwater basketweaving? when la puente wins a CIF title then you can come brag."
The last time I looked up in the school gym, I believe there were CIF titles in wrestling and water polo.
What next?
The next time your mommy and daddy smack you in the mouth for talking trash, YOU LET ME KNOW. Don't use this blog to displace your neurosis on to the public.
GRI,
GO BACK AND READ. I wrote two sentences on this whole thread. Not multiple "comments"
AFTER the standard "hood" or "barrio" comments, I simply stated that **it can happen anywhere**. What about THAT is "stupid"?
And different than most of the A-holes on here I cited FACTS, Sorry that you took offense and continued to BLOW IT OUT OF PROPORTION. So WHO is the blowhard?
I know you don't have Gano to pick on anymore - but find yourself a better cause.
Come on all you haters! give it a REST! I bet NOT one of you know the Broadus family personally do you? Let me guess.....Your, cousins, sister's, friends, Mom knows them right? MrWoMan1,
I'd rather live in LP with the Hispanics than where you live somewhere in Rialto or Fontucky or South Central with all the Blacks. More crime and killings than the SGV I bet. Now that's a bigger craphole with declining real estate values.
to major craphole,
We should take your word on this one because it takes one to know one and after all it was you who wrote.
POSTED BY : major craphole
LP Alum
League titles in what underwater basketweaving? when la puente wins a CIF title then you can come brag. And yes inspite of all of these comments La Puente is a major craphole.
Mrman1,
I appreciate your opinion, once again.
Just to update you, I went to La Puente High School and counted more than twenty ("blacks, asians, and whites").
I'm really not sure how this relates to "LP being a craphole" but as I recall, I thought I had several issues with you a few months ago about the sports programs.
I guess, a few league titles later, not much more can be said.
I have no doubt that Amat is one of the safest schools in the area. I have lived in Hacienda Heights for about forty years and would have to say honestly it is the safest school in the area. This all got blown out of perspective when Joe Blow Amat started making some stupid comments. We really are beating a dead horse.
CONGRATULATIONS! That seems to be the ONLY thing you're good at because you sure haven't proven yourself to be worth ANYTHING else.
If you walk across the street from Amat you are in West Covina. I even think parts of Amat are even in West Covina w/ the weird SGV geography. Being there for 4 years and parking on the street I never had a problem and I don't know anyone that has. Mostly families and older people live in that area around Amat. Amat does everything in its power to make sure the students are safe. I remember someone got pulled over for a ticket in front of the school and they put Amat on lock down until the cop and car left just to be safe. There are the "hoods" in every city and it's not fair to say that just because Amat is in what arrogant people say "the ghetto" that it makes it automatically a bad school. Administration at Amat doesn't take crap from any of the students and tolerates nothing. If someone is there that jeopardizes the intergrity of Amat then it's good bye to them in a heartbeat!
at least i can spell
When you use words you don't understand, you make yourself out to be a bigger dope than you think you're not. Keep up the good work.
loveshsfootball,
If you look at the neighborhood around St. Paul you are looking at pretty much the same neighborhood as Amat. This may be a reality check but neither neighborhood should be considered a hood, getto or crap hole.
nice way to TRY to cover up being illiterate
Learn,
I wrote it for the dyslexic people on the board, good to know you've been diagnosed as such.
isnt this the same person whose been in those girls gone wild videos? what a class guy.
It amazes me that two days in a row we see some of the dumbest posts in the histroy of this board.
this would include your post and please learn to spell. I realize that amat education was limited but use a spell checker.
Rob,
What Snoop did that? That's just the city of Rowland Heights, we don't care about them, right Fred. We need to give Snoop a second chance, everyone desires that. Fred what city do you live in, send Snoop over their.
Ask any body associated with the Rowland Raider Jr. All American Football program about all the "good" Snoop did for them. He completely cleaned that program out when he no longer got his 100% control.
mrWOman,
You are another idiot. What the hell do YOU know about LP and what gives you the right to talk as as a black? It amazes me that two days in a row we see some of the dumbest posts in the histroy of this board.
To those who say we are cocky, we have to be to protect ourselves against clowns such as yourselves.
95 percent, you are 100% stupid.
to john- i can tell you that St. Paul is not in a bad area-please dont even try to compare it to Loyola- and id much rather live by st. paul than where Amat is- the Whittier SFS area is a good area to live in -there are good hard working people living in the area and i dont consider it a dangerous area at all.
MRMAN,
LP is not a crap hole, wow what a statement, there are a lot of outstanding and hard working people living in LP area. Every area has their problems. The areas with a lot of money have big time drug problems and home invasion roberies.
Yes Amat is in La Puente but have you been around Mater Dei - Santa Ana,
Loyola - LA, St. Paul - Santa Fe Springs,
Those areas are not the best either.
jcaz,
I like reading your blogs but lets be realistic, Amat has had their share of drug problems through the years. The difference is you get caught and you are gone unless daddy has tons of money!!!
If you step on Amat's campus you can tell the difference, the grounds are kept very well and distruction by students is not tolerated by either the staff or the students and the area is not as bad as some make of it. I can not remember when someone has had problems around campus late after games.
A few things that need to be said:
1. Why talk about Snoop and his son? He is an okay athlete and the only reason why anyone cares about him is due to the fact his dad has a ton of money! The only reason why his son is not at LB Poly is Snoop is scared his son will catch the heat for all that fake gang banging he does.
2. LP is the crap hole of the SGV. The reason why parents don't send their kids to LP is due to a horrible school and an even worse community. The only people who can safely walk around LP are hispanic (not trying to be racial, but it is the truth). If your any other race, especially black, you will be messed with from day one. If you think I'm lying, go onto LP's campus and count the number of blacks, asians, and whites. If you count more than 20 then let me know. Now if your a parent, would you want to send your student to a school were he will be picked on for his race or would you move into a community were the gangs rule!
3. Amat might be located in the city of La Puente, but has and will always play by it's own set of rules. I don't like Amat, but it's a private school so it should be allowed to do what it wants to do.
4. Finally, West Covina is not what it once was. Blame that on high crime rate, unemployment, decent people/families moving to the IE, and an invasion of people who couldn't have afforded WC 15 years ago.
These are just my takes!
Well as i see this there are a few reasons why things are in the ESGV. There is a lot low income single family homes in the area these days. And many of the families that are whole are trying to move away from the area and put them and their families in a better situation. In the case of the LP area. I am a coach at one of the local high schools. And we lose player after player every week it seems at times. And the biggest thing i hear of why is because were moving out the area. Either my parents bought a house in the IE. Were housing is more affordable. Which we all know. So the schools in the areas attendance is down overall compared to 10 to 15 years ago. Second on Amat. Amat is a PRIVATE SCHOOL with a rich football history. Any parents that live in the ESGV. that truly feel there child has D1 potential takes a good long hard look at Amat. It is the smart thing to do. It does not matter that the school is in LP. What matters is the Name on the outside of the school. As mentioned earlier there are plenty of great schools. In bad areas all over southern cal. The true difference is the PARENTS. Parents that invest time, support, understanding and even money at times. Are the reasons why these schools stand out in what would be so called rough areas. If more parents cared. Or could give there childs schools more time and comment you would see some of the other schools and neighborhoods being to have a better look and feel.
kingside
i am sure not all amat fans are cocky but 95 percent of the ones who post here are. Just look at the post above you. Another amat fan talking out his ***
Snoops old Lady just got busted f DUI. Hah, the whole family are nothing but thugs and losers. Take away his fame and his natural knack to gangsta rap, Snoop would probably be doing time at Pelican Bay.
If you're gonna come in here and bash Amat at least come out of your closet and grow some balls and state what school you represent. Probably too embarrassed to mention your school by name since us cocky, arrogant Lancers handed your team their jockstraps in a Varsity football game.
Also, you haters probably have a bigger beer gut than those Dads you are trying to disparage.
Leave the ego at the door,
Yes, I guess that somewhat fits my logic, but you failed to accept that the remainder of the ESGV has become far worse than LP. LP is a working class area that is neither a "crap hole" or in any manner a high income area. I remember the old West Covina High School (The Spartans) when over 50% of the kids went straight to four year schools and the school was a great place to go. Today's West Covina is quite different. Not a horrible place, but not what it used to be in the old days.
Do you really think that a few so called Amat fans/supporters constitute what Amat is all about. We generally are the same people you went to junior high with and live next door to you. We are no better and to say anything like that is absurd. Yes, we are the remaining D1 schools in the valley and probably will be the last. We hope the new staff can re-focus the program and at least be "competitive" in D1 and pre-season. This remains to be seen.
DON U got that right, they took aloss and blamed everthing but the factCO was better that night. They did not want to face Peri, Williams, Allen, Adam and the rest of CO again. Allthey did was cry and complain of dirty play.Come on back and give a shot GHS
First, for those of us who have lived in the ESGV a better trend would be to look at LP in thirty years ago and today in terms of crime. LP is a place that can be rough, but I bet it has not changed much in the past thirty years
Kingside,
hmm so what you are saying is that LP was a craphole 30 years ago and today is still a craphole compared to west covina, covina, ect? hmmm nice logic
jcaz
people love bashing amat because of the arrogance of fans such as yourself that come on this blog talking about how great amat is. Leave the ego at the door.
"Recruiting Wars"
You've obviously never seen Snoop's kid play. He's average at best, which is why Daddy had to buy him a team to play on as a youth.

Most, if not all of the kids who attend Amat do not live in La Puente.
But even if they did, the vast majority of the parents who send their kids to that school have a greater amount of disposable income in order to do so.
The facts are that economics play an important roll in this discussion.
How does anyone make the argument that Amat high school kids are more prone to murder biased solely on the argument that the school is located in La Puente?
If you were to say that the kids who attend USC are all killers and murders, or that they will grow up to be riff raff, based solely upon where the school is located, then you have some issues my friend.
All this talk is simply about bashing on Amat. The facts are that not everyone is Catholic in our community, and not everyone can afford to send their kids to Amat because it is a private school.
That issue applies to any other private school that has specific criteria for enrollment of their student bodies.
The facts are that:
1. Amat does not have gang problems at school
2. Amat does not have drug problems at school
3. Amat does not have Graffiti on their school walls
So when you compare private to public schools here, you need to do some home work, because I don't know of anyone who wouldn’t want to give their kids a better education and a better opportunity in life sending their kids to any affordable private school.
DANG -- Snoop is ONE FUGLY DUDE...and nice mug shot of the wifey this last weekend.... I would think it might not be all that great to get "snoop's kid" People with that much money THINK they can do as they please or have THEIR people stir up trouble.. Not so sure that would be a good thing for the local schools - even Amat - who can go get whomever they want.
First, for those of us who have lived in the ESGV a better trend would be to look at LP in thirty years ago and today in terms of crime. LP is a place that can be rough, but I bet it has not changed much in the past thirty years; however, I can't say that Covina, West Covina, Charter Oak and many other areas (including the hills) can say that the quality of living is the same. What is my point...LP has remained the same or better but the rest of the valley has become a lot worse.
On a better topic, if Calvin's son took the entrance exam how would they say you cannot enroll if he passed. As I recall, not this was twenty five years ago, there is no oral interview and you get scored and ranked for the Freshman class. I realize they would know who he is, but he has not committed any crime and if they said you would bring the wrong element I don't know if that would work. Just a question as I realize he has no intention of going to Amat, but can a private say you are from the wrong place. Hell, they let me in and I was from Covina!
Hey Felipe, your first recruit ala Gano..Snoops kid can play QB (and you need one). Steal him now make him your starting QB and Snoop has some tasty buds and a custom paint job bus for your players waiting for you.
Fred,
Can't you come up with something better than talking about a Wanna be gangster like dumb dog.Let his kid go to Diamond Bar, that's the school district he's in anyway. He lives in the country in diamond bar and that's walnut valley unified which is diamond bar high. Any school that he goes to will be a big distraction so Dog if your reading this please stay away from DR. Joe Amat you think los altos is a good neighborhood. Maybe if if you like trailers.
GRI,
So I guess you live in a gated community where nothing bad ever happens. Sounds like Stepford.
Oh, so you got defensive because Joe posted some articles? Well just look at the crap we have to endure on a DAILY/HOURLY basis from these other clowns who REALLY have nothing benefical to say
we dont take kindly to his kind lol. . . . . . . i hope they go elsewhere our sgv is untainted,,,,,,, lets keep it Freddy
Okay, okay, lets leave this alone now, we all had our say so leave it at that.
kids at amat are taught to get big beer bellys and wear raider t-shirts. burp
Bleeds Blue and Gold,
I asked a question, I didn't state it as a fact.
"Is that what you teach these kids at Bishop Amat."
grammer error, forgot the ?
The murder rate of 3.08 times the average in the United States that is a fact.
GRI,Here is your post, copied and pasted.
Joe Amat,
According to the FBI the City of La Puente does real well in Murder. Your rate of Murder is 3.08 times higher than the national average. Is that what you teach these kids at Bishop Amat.
Now this is what I and everyone else on the board understandsin a nutshell.
1- FBI stat on LP
2- LP murder rate is 3.08 above average.
3- what do you teach kids @ Amat?
Tell me where I misunderstood YOUR words?
FredJ,
Well that's real interesting being that is what you use every day to prove your point. But when someone throws them right back at you, you don't like it. Joe wants to imply that Hacienda Heights and West Covina aren't safe. Well I am going to prove to you that La Puente isn't safe.
Bleeds Blue and GOld,
Of course I don't think that Bishop Amat produces murders. I think they produce lots of great kids. But when Joe Amat made the comment he made you have to expect a response.

It's amazing that someone would throw on that statistic, as if they're bragging about it, or saying, "I told you so." How pathetic is that. And blue & gold is right, what does that have to do with 99 1/2 percent of good people living in La Puente.
GRI,
What kind of idiot are you? Blaming Amat kids for the problems of the city? So now you accuse US of murder? Come on, that's the biggest stretch yet.
It seems petty of all of you to compare us to the area since it is the ONLY arguement you have. Wow, what a pity.
Here's your sign.
According to the FBI the City of La Puente does real well in Murder. Your rate of Murder is 3.08 times higher than the national average
thats whats wrong with la puente!!
What's wrong with La Puente? I don't get you people, especially at La Puente high school, everyone I've ever dealt with there has been class, and I can't ever remember having to report a problem of any kind...Get over it, stop the silly stereotyping
Kind of don't get that logic you're trying to put forth.Loyola, Mater dei, Bishop Amat and many other schools are in the 'hood", so to speak, but isn't that EXACTLY why they are there? Actually Amat, like many private schools, serve a need in those depressed neighborhoods. It's a wonder more people don't make that sacrifice. especially given the rough economic times ahead. Ever look at the grauation rates of schools surrounding Bishop Amat, Loyola, Mater Dei ad others? NOT VERY GOOD. So essentailly you're mocking Amat why? Inner city schools are even worst with graduation rates approaching 20% of their freshmen class. Latinos are the worst actually overall in the state and probably in the country. So I applaud all the parents who make the sacrifices to give their kids a fighting chance. Remember it's not where you start but where you finish that matters most.
don't even try to defend la puente. nothing you can say will change the fact its a horrible area.
gotta love taking 2 isolated incidents and blowing them out of proportion. are you a liberal joe amat?

I guess crime and murder does not happen in the South Hills, Los Altos area. Oh and thats right there is not graffity there also.
Yeah, it's a shame Amat isn't located in a great area like Los Altos or South Hills. Something bad might happen in the "hood".

Who said I was a Amat person? The hood is the hood in La Puente and Long Beach not to mention the Hood of Santa Ana (Mater Dei) the hood of L.A. (Loyola) and The Hood of Anaheim (Servite)what is your point brainless?
the hood of poly? pretty ironic coming from an amat fan considering la puente is pretty much a hood itself.
He's going to LB Poly.
iefootballfan,
The last five years he hasn't be able to follow the guidelines, what makes you think he is going to change. Any time he doesn't get what he wants he throws in more money, if that don't work he walks and takes as many of the kids as possible with him. He wants to make sure everyone knows that he is gone. I was talking to a well respected Head Coach in the area and he told me that Long Beach Poly is the perfect fit for Snoop, all his money and power. They will let him run the program from the stands. Based on Coach Layton comments I think he sees the issues Snoop, don't forget he has dealt with Snoop in the past.
Poop Doggs kid to Amat no thanks, he does belong in the Hood of Poly and all that goes with it. Snoop can go grease someone to let his kid play etc. This is where the arguement of Dads coaching their kids at the HS level comes in. Snoop Dog on the other hand will let his Money do the coaching for him when it comes to his Kids HS career. If his kid is talented like they say then his own merit will get him to be a starter. Altho at Amat Manzo would love to have Snoop doggs money as he has done with other kids who's dads grease his pocket somehow they start and make the team. (all sports). Teachers and staff have mentioned this about Manzo. Could be all rumor but I dont think all are wrong. Snoop should put him in a private D1 school and let the outcome of his kids chances be done by the coaches. Mater Dei Servite Loyola, but this sounds like the Blake Tillis situation where they will bounce Lil Snoop around and find the best chance to shine more important than education. Then again does he need a education when Daddy's rich?
Why all the hate for Snoop? If a person invest that much money then he will probably power trip. If clear guidlines are established early and rules and contractual obligations are in place then Snoop would not be able to do such things.
no way in hell Amat touches Calvins kid, old man Broadhus is a big can of worms on so many different levels, look for this kid(who just might be a terrific kid) to be a pawn and end up at 5 or 6 schools before he's done, maybe a prep school back east too,
Fred,
A second chance, this guy has a history going back five years starting with the Roland Raiders. He did everything he could to destroy that cities football program. To date that program still hasn’t recovered. This is the same guy that brings his team to a charity games, losses and walked off the field with his kids, jumped into his bus and leaves after making arrangements to have dinner and sign autographs for the kids on the other team, this has happen multi times. I have been in conference meeting where all the leagues were told that Snoop Dog is banned from playing any type of game with any of their teams. This is the same guy that builds a local All-Star team and has Coach Layton and staff coach the team (CIF violation). Are you going to try and tell me that you aren’t aware of these issues? This is a pattern, he had a second chance multi times, some times you have to look past the money and power and do what’s best for the community.
Maybe I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I believe in second chances.
Maybe these other leagues had issues with him because of his past, and never gave him a chance.
The problems that follow Snoop Dogg aren't worth it. Any program he is involved in is in great shape (financially) while he is involved. Once he doesn't agree with you, he will do everything in his power to destroy your program. Snoop sets a terrible example for the kids. I haven't seen an adult with as poor sportsmanship as him in a long time. Snoop has been ban from many youth football organization that is why he started his own league. Even when he started his own league they had issues with the guy. The first year of his league his team couldn’t make weight, so he raised the weight limits
Fred I have a real issue with your ability to be impartial. You tend to support a person not for what he has done for the community, but how powerful he is in the community. Snoop is known by everyone in the local football business as an untrusting person. The types of people that follow him around are a terrible example for the youths in our area, but you come on this blog and support him, that is a joke.
Fred:
I spoke with some people in the know.
Glendora doesn't want to play CO again because they lost. And then they tried to whin about dirty play.
Pasky' is a weird dude and makes excuses!
