Breaking News: Manny traded to Dodgers!
From ESPN: Manny Ramirez's stormy relationship with the Boston Red Sox appears to be over.
A baseball source has confirmed Ramirez has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, ESPN.com has learned. Jason Bay is going to Boston as part of the deal, Jayson Stark reported. And the Pittsburgh Pirates get four minor leaguers as part of the three-way deal. Andy LaRoche, Bryan Morris, Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen will go to Pittsburgh, ESPN.com has learned.

So far so good with Ramirez. This could be borrowed time and player for the Dodgers but enjoy it while it lasts. Still does not mean the Dodgers are World Series bound. Lots of games to be played and there is no gurantee that the Dodgers will even make the playoffs. You can Pencil the Halos in tho.

fred-first of all - dont think for a second that he was the only reason the red sox won the WS- why do u think thet were so anxious to get rid of him-hes a cancer=he wwas tearing the team apart-ive been watching the red sox games on MLB EXTRA INNINGS- hes a 2 month rental-we have NO CHANCE to resign him- hes a me first player and one of the worst fielding outfielders in baseball-wont be too long before him and Kent get into it-trust me-and what about the outfield>.-Kemp and Ethier need to play EVERY DAY!-we need Pierre beacuase of his speed and the team wont dump Jones-if you know anything about baseball you know that one bad attitude ruins it for everybody. Whatever happens this year-it better work out to be playoffs for the Dodgers or Ned Colletti is gone!

Manny is just being borrowed by the Dodgers for this season, in hopes of a playoff run. He will not resign with the Dodgers and is aching to get back at the RedSox. Manny in pinstripes next year.Go Bronx Bombers!

did anyone hear nomar talk about manny yesterday? obviously not because he had a lot of good things to say. this is an excellent trade for the dodgers. they gave up nothing and are paying nothing for one of the greatest hitters of all time. the situation of having all those options in the outfield is a lot better then not having enough options. and i believe peter gammons from espn said that the red sox will NOT make the playoffs after trading manny ramirez

I don't care what anyone thinks, this is a great thing for us. First of all, we gave up virtually nothing. Secondly, we are not paying a penny for him to play here. Sure he has the potential to be a distraction, but this is a gamble worth taking...especially for free. The people complaining about this trade are probably the same people who complain that we don't do enough to compete. What would have been better than this?? Doing nothing before the trade deadline? Allowing the Angels to make moves while we sit back with our fingers crossed, waiting for miracles? At least something of substance and high caliber was done in our favor for a change. Before piling on arguably one of the most prolific hitters in the past 30 years, let's just wait to see what happens.

What is it with the Dodgers picking up everybody's trash? Nomar, Manny, Schmidt, Pierre, Kent, Jones, and even Joe Torre! lol. Dodgers wont go anywhere and if they do, one and done, Just like there crosstown cousins. Good pickup by LA because they dont give up anything, but to have 5 outfielders is just too much. Dodgers suck

Hey Colleti, Go get Barry Bonds now. Might as well, you got the same thing in Ramirez and Jones.

The thing about baseball is any team that reaches the playoffs can win the World Series. It's not like football or basketball where the better teams win 80 to 90 percent in the postseason. In baseball the worst team can sweep the best in a series on any given week. In my opinion this move gets the Dodgers in the playoffs, then anything is possible.

With the Angels improving constanly and The Dodgers sitting on prospects unproven Ned Colleti has screwed up with Jones, Schmidt and Pierre. This trade better get the Dodgers to win more than one playoff game, Colleti is on a short leash. Platoon Either and Pierre but always keep Manny and Kemp starting. Jones dump him and cut your losses he is old and done. It has always come down to the best pitching in the playoffs and the Dodgers are banged up, so this trade is a band aid and not a World series move. If Penny, Saito come back strong and if they should get Maddox, plus add Furcal later they have a chance to get to the dance. Anything less and the Dodgers just made a trade just to keep up with the Joneses aka THE ANGELS.

Boston writers don't like Manny for the same reason Giants writers hated Barry. Those guys don't kiss up to them so in turn the reporters use the power of the pen to get back. Manny has been Manny, as they say, for years and they still won two championships. All I can say is it's worth the risk. The guy produces in October.

Wow Fred for a guy who gets alot of his information from espn you sure dont listen to what they have to say about the situation....Peter Gammons a Boston homer just said that if the Red Sox would have kept Manny they would have not made the playoffs.....So year he was destroying that team....He is a great bat no doubt, but leaves a lot to be desired in the field....needless to say he will lead the Dodgers into the playoffs

Yeah, he sure did ruin the world champion Boston Red Sox

This is one of the worst trades in a long time-first of all Ramirez is a cancer- a butcher in the outfield and not a team player-now what are the Dodgers going to do in the outfield?-they now have 5 outfielders-they need to play Kepm and Ethier they will not release or bench Andruw Jones- too much money- they will not bench Pierre-because of his speed-this is a total disaster for the Dodgers! we dont need attitudes on the team -this will ruin team chemistry!
