Hoyd: "(Gilmore) will be in a Wilson uniform"

Wilson football coach Greg Hoyd said the the school is conducting physicals this afternoon (Thursday) at 3 p.m. For more info you can reach Hoyd at 949-678-7547.

Enough of that, what's going on with Tim Gilmore? Hoyd said everything fine, he's been in camp, looks terrific, and there is no doubt he'll be in a Wilson uniform this fall. Even Gilmore said as much during the Masters Track Meet, "It makes me mad [what people have been saying] because they are questioning my loyalty to Wilson," said Gilmore. "But people will see, they'll see I'm loyal to Wilson."
What is interesting is that Hoyd has purposely not watched any film on Gilmore. "I've heard enough great things about him to know he can play," Hoyd said. The coach said he is focusing on Gilmore personally, which means getting his academics sorted out because there are a lot of colleges contacting Hoyd and the school. "You've got to assess him as a person first, and Tim's been great. He hasn't given anyone any problems."
While Hoyd hasn't seen Gilmore in the backfield, he was impressed during a summer passing league game with Gilmore at safety, where he will split time.
"I haven't seen a guy with his speed in a while," Hoyd said. "He covers so much ground. He ran across the field and made an interception he has no business making. He's special. We just have to make sure we package him right. But outside of Tim, we do have a lot of concerns.
"Coming from Orange County, you have to get bigger and stronger and that means getting everyone to buy into the weight room. You can play with 5'10, 5'11 lineman, but they better be beasts, or it isn't going to work. The most difficult part has been changing the climate, but I feel we're making strides every day.

Are you talking about the same Ron Brown that lives in the Wilson High School area and is sending his son to Diamond Bar High School. If he is so excited about how you look why is he sending his son to Diamond Bar High School.

Ron Brown was at football meeting tonight at Wilson. He talk to us and was very excited about how we look and he met with Coach Hoyd for over 2 hours.

You can keep on thinking I am L****. Don't forget last time you had someone on this blog talking crap about Hoyd you thought it was someone else also. You were wrong then just like you are this time. You need to check out the new thread, that one is just great.

"Rumor has it......"

Hoyd has resigned

Well go figure 6 jobs in 6 years what did Wilson expect. The guy may make it through this year, but he will be gone by this time next year.

HH parent/WTH/Neutral parent, all the same person
with an agenda, spewing poison & doing all you can to undermine the new coach & the Wilson football program, I'm not part of Wilson or any Miramonte schools following, but all I can say is I'm glad your not a fan of our school, & I feel sorry for your kids.

HE HE HE I love Karma!!!!!

OOH, CHECK AND MATE

Sorry Honey but you played all your cards when you talked about R**** and L****, we know who you are and we know who your husband is so quit embarasssing yourself even more than you have already.

If you haven't figured it out yet HH Parnet and WTH are two totally different people. You are also way off with your first guess of who is HH Parent. Of course you have been way off on just about everything.

Dear Netural Parent,
If and when you hear how that meeting went would you please pass along the information because at this point you are truly the only one I would tend to believe. Thanks

Hey WTH/HH Parent (one and the same) do you ever get tired of spewing venom? Shoot, in one breath you say LA here I come and in the next you are talking garbage about them!! You must just thrive on negativity. So please be on your way, one of the LA Parents seems to want you over there so; hit the road, adios, good bye and good riddance, just please do it asap!!!!

If you want to play football and your an incoming freshman at Wilson. Donot!! Donot!! play for Coach Hoyd you will not learn a single thing. Try the Local HLP Pop Warner Midget team they a have great program. This will give one year to evaluate Coach Hoyd 2008 performance. If he makes it thru the season.

In reading these comments I decided to call a few friends that have kids on the freshmen team at Wilson. I couldn't believe the answer I got. Both parents had talked to Coach Hoyd on Wednesday. Coach Hoyd told one parent that the freshmen coach had quit and that they probably will not have a freshmen squad. The freshmen’s would just play on the JV team. His son was told by Coach Hoyd that the freshmen team didn't have enough kids. The child on the team said they have only 10 freshmen for the last fix weeks.

On the same day the other parent was told by Coach Hoyd that the team was doing fine, they have 30 freshmen kids and a few more on the way over. He knew something wasn't right being they only had about 20 kids at the freshmen practice during the first two weeks. He told me they had 40 to 50 kids at the 7 on 7 this Wednesday that included all the freshmen.

Based on my conversation with these two parents I can understand your confusion. One of the parents told me that they are having a meeting at 6:00 p.m. tonight. He is going to make sure this issue is brought up and resolved. I don’t think any one on this blog is lying. It’s look’s like the root of this mass confusion is COACH HOYD.

This blog started will Gilmore be in a Wilson uniform? Gilmore run as fast as you can to Bishop Amat it will save you from suffering a major injury.
I know you are committed to Wilson High but they have no commitment to you. They hired the worse possible Coach.

Do whats best for you this world offer very little help. Use your God given talent where it will shine. Bishop.

Wilson,

I'll tell you something, our track record tells you we don't turn away any kids who want to play Football. Especially good talented kids. So stop hiding behind fake screen names.

Los Altos will welcome all who will HELP THE PROGRAM!

HH parent, we will save a seat for you on our Booster Club.

We understand no one ever wants to be associated with losers.

LA Parent,

Since you decided to chime in. Your team has it's issues LA will be sitting at 1-10 right next to Wilson.

HH don't even think about bringing all that venom over here to LA, I can't see where you think any good could come out of all your posts, I only know we DON'T WANT YOU!!! I am sorry Wilson Parents but honestly better you than us

We here at LA are doing just fine without all this ugliness, please HH Parent just stay where you are

What I don't understand is why you are talking about L*** and R**** in this way. If I were you I would be watching my back. R**** isn't the type of guy to take it lightly when someone's calling his wife a B**ch.

As far as the coaches, please don't count the parents. I am talking real coaches. Two of the four coaches are very young. They MIX in REAL WELL with the students?

As far as the freshmen team goes, 10 kids no coaches. Hoyd tells the kids most likely not having a freshmen team. Hoyd approaches parents looking for a coach. Without giving to much infor Hoyd is now asking parents with no football coaching experience to join his staff, yes zero experience. All I have to say is LA here I come.

CIF rules, all incoming freshmen don't commit to the school until the first day of the school year, mid Sept. All those freshmen that want to play high school ball, it's not to late to transfer to LA. All the sophmore's can also transfer to LA before the start of the school year also. Sorry incoming Junior's and Senior's your out of luck, your stuck with Hoyd for the year.

Supportive HH Parent,

It looks like your not only stupid but blind, and
can't count. Count on this LA will be smacking Wilson and so will all their other opponents.

Bye, Bye I'm over it all. No useful information going on here. I just came back from practice and there were 10 coaches on the field. (Two had to leave right before ending so that did make it 8 at one time.) There were 58 players out on the field. I saw it with my own two eyes and there was no one else sitting in the stands. Facts are facts and all you've got going is innuendo.(Big word...look it up!) The arrows are sliding right off and the season will move on without you.
Oh hey, by the way, we still have a freshman team...don't know who YOU'VE been talking about but it's not Glen A. Wilson High School!!!
Bye Bye

I mean really! Have you seen this guy????

Days of Our Lives,
That was funny, but I think I just threw up in my mouth a little

OH so what happened HH Parent or WTH which ever you might be going by, Keyboard broken???? Yeah that's what I thought!!!

WHY,

You just better leave her husband out of this.

We all know you want him!

Who the heck is Clay??????
It's Clegg you IDIOTS!!!
Hey I am pretty sure that WTH and HH Parent are one in the same!

HH Parent
First of all, I will not be making any phone calls to verify your outrageous accusations, (tell your husband to stop over-exaggerating everything he hears and maybe you would sound more credible)!!!
Next, I would like to applaud Ms. Orosco for her very intellegent post; I am taking a deep breath, keeping my integrity in check and this will be the last you hear from me on this blog

MR MORON1, You are so right. These Jackas?es must be related to Coach Hoyd. Wilson 0-10 thanks Clay & Coach Hoyd

MRMAN1,

I had to chime in on this one.

ARE YOU CALLING FRED ROBLEDO CLASSLESS.

LOOK AT THE WILSON HEADLINE BLOG!
Wilson football coach Greg Hoyd said the the school is conducting physicals this afternoon (Thursday) at 3 p.m. For more info you can reach Hoyd at 949-678-7547.

HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER IS RIGHT THERE!

MR MORON1 !!

HH Parent:
The HLPSD hired Coach Hoyd.
Regardless of what you think he is doing or not doing he is the ruler of his kingdom. We as adults and role models for our children should be above the disparaging remarks that have been made in this public forum about Coach Hoyd.
I encourage each and everyone on this blog to take a deep breath and gain some integrity.

why,

Now let me get this right you are searching for Hoyd's cell number all over the wilson website but you can't make a few phone calls. Don't worry everyone on this blog believes that.

mrman1,
Your comment,
"Now as for HLPUSD, I taught high school in the district and coached football for 5 years. They might be choice district, but you still can't encourage kids to attend a high school for athletic reasons."

I agree with 100%. I am not a coach but I do it all the time. Why do you think Wilson is in the situation their are in right now. The new head coach (Hoyd), made his bed, now he is going to sleep in it. Came to this town talking all this crap about how great he is, and how he is going to bring in all these studs from out of area. Now a few months latter he can't even field a freshmen team. Some people talk and some people produce. Wilson hired a talker.

I haven't commented on any of the above because I haven't found out if any of it is true or not. And no it is not killing me that you think you have more information, because I believe you are married to someone who is in the program (and worried about his job) and the information he is feeding you is blown way out of proportion

HH parent,

You are correct the cell number is on the form, but I think that putting his number on a blog is still classless. I can see people who are part of the program having it, but that doesn't mean the entire SGV needs to have it. You know how many kids from rival schools can now use his number just to mess with him. Again, that was out of line and classless.

Now as for HLPUSD, I taught high school in the district and coached football for 5 years. They might be choice district, but you still can't encourage kids to attend a high school for athletic reasons. I witnessed the pop warner and junior all american coaches telling their kids to go to Wilson. So please stop trying to place innocence, like this crap didn't and doesnt still go on. Like I said earlier, I hate to see the new coach and the kids go through this crap, but you do reap what you sow.

So what happen, keyboard broken.

Now what do you want to start crying about. It must just kill you guys, I’m not even involved in the program and I know way more than you do.

I noticed that you haven't denied that Hoyd made the comments to the kids about no freshmen program this year. I noticed that you didn't deny the meeting with Merrill about the use of the booster club funds. You are obviously validating my comments and have no response to those comments. Doesn’t look very good does it.

For the slow one's I will give you written instructions:

Step 1:

Step 2:
Double click on "Handouts"

Step 3:
Double click on "Player Ad Form"

Step 4:
Click on "Open"

Step 5:
Scroll down to bottom left side. Their you go, his phone number

I also went on that link and was unable to find his cell phone number, that is hitting below the belt and I hope HH Parent gets called out for that. Fred really should remove that post, and HH Parent should not be allowed on this blog anymore!

HH Parent
I went on that link and did not find his cell phone number anywhere, only the school's number and fax number. I agree with mrman1 that is some chicken sh--!!!!! You really are coming off as vendictive and pathetic

mrman1,
Your comment is real interesting, stealing kids from LP. Our school district has open enrollment which means that any child from any city can attend school in our district. Our district also offers "choice". Any child in good standing within the district can join the choice program. Then they can pick the High School within the district. I guess the real issue is the kids from LP area want to attend the High Schools in the HH area. The perception is that you are going to get a better education and it is safer in the HH area. Based on test scores and crime rate LA & Wilson are the High Schools of choice. That isn’t going to chance.

I guess you aren't going to be very happy being that Hoyd just recruited a big stud from Workman High School this week. Hoyd was showing off his latest recruit this week at the school. He is supposed to be a great basketball and football player. On the up side the basketball program is looking good. At least the kid can play basketball.

mrman1,

You can get both these numbers off the Wildcat Football website.

http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=gwhsfootball

Hey dude, that's not cool putting someone's private phone information on a blog. You might be upset at the coach, but that some chicken s**t you are doing. Hopefully Fred deletes that post asap.

It seems like Wilson has a bunch of issues, that will not be fixed anytime soon. I don't know who to believe, but if there is no freshman team then that speaks volumes on the new coach. Hey I don't feel bad for Wilson though. This is what they get for stealing the pop warner/junior all american kids from LP for all those years.

SUPPORTIVE HH PARENT,

You are involved with the program so pick up the phone call Hoyd, I will even give you his number (626)934-4401 or cell at (949)678-7547. You can validate the facts that the parents and players told me yesterday.

What I find amusing is your comment about “Hoyd staying focus”, the meeting yesterday with Merrill was about Hoyd wanting to spend Booster Club money to pay his coaching staff triple the standard pay. Merrill has made it very clear that booster club money is for the kids not Hoyd’s coaching staff. He sure is staying focused. Maybe he should have been focusing on the players and coaching not the money. Maybe we would have a freshmen team?

GREAT JOB HOYD !!!!!!!

Hello SUPPORTIVE HH PARENT ,

If you think Coach Hoyd is doing a great job why is it, that he only has ten kids in freshman football?

Without freshman football you have no future!!!

Coach boyd had the coaching staff from the Local Pop Warner team & last years freshman coaches ready and willing. Ask yourself why would a proven coaching staff from pop warner not coach the same fresm team they coached last year? It's because all the negative things you see on this blog are true. This program never had issues with the boosters until know, I wonder why? Prediction you will not be very supportive after this season.

P.S. I have swamp to sell and your perfect candidate.

WELL SAID SUPPORTIVE HH PARENT

WOW!! HH parent (who has NO ONE in the program) has got one heck of a burr up his/her bottom. You've even got the kids blogging about all the venom that's being spewed. Easy to do from cyberspace I guess. As I asked before, what's the agenda here???? As a parent that is there and watching I can tell you that you are just generally using this forum to spread untruths and degrading comments toward Coach Hoyd. I believe you disliked him from the moment you laid eyes on him.
Many of the good people that joined the Boosters have decided not to attend Uncle Bob's meetings because of a couple of people imposing their agenda on everyone else.
Through it all Coach has perservered and stayed focused on task. He's got a new, young team and he's building from what he has. The boys are working hard under his tutelage. I give the man credit for expending all his resources toward the good of the program. I would also like to point out that the 'program' includes coaches. Your comment about the number of coaches is false. On the field yesterday were 6 coaches and that was without the defensive line. Again, I ask, what is your agenda?????

Hey, how did your meeting with Merrill go today.

NEWS FLASH !!!!
Coach Hoyd told the freshmen kids that Wilson most likely will not have a freshmen team this year. The freshmen will be playing on JV team this year. They only have 10 kids currently playing freshmen ball. He did forget to mention to the kids that the freshmen coach also quit today.
Hoyd told the school staff that he was bring a complete staff with him, 13 coaches when he was hired on. The Wilson football program currently has four coaches coaching all three teams. Like I have said in the past, what a joke. I really feel for the kids, they desire better.

Hey E.O. and M.O. I think HH Parent is TBIH That
B--ch I Hate, what do you think???

Oh my goodness all this garbage you are spewing and you don't even have a son in the program??? You need to get a life!!! What interest do you have in all of this???

When did I ever said my son was playing football at Wilson. As stated in the past, I have very close ties to many parent's involved in the football program.

HH Parent
If Wilson High School is as bad as you say it is, and the football program is almost certain death for football players, why don't you transfer your son to another high school? If all is as you say it is, why in the world would you keep you child there?

My last comment was removed I believe that I removed the section that had a little to much detail in it. So let’s try this again.

have a clue?,
Were you born yesterday, the concerns were forward to the school district the school district is having the school police look into the incidents. No action will be taken unless the school police can prove what is going on. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

mrman1,
Now as far as the education issue, Gilmore didn't go to Wilson for its football program. You talk about Gilmore going to High School out of area. Gilmore isn't out of area, Wilson is in area. All he needs to do is sign up for choice. His family can then take him to any high school in the district. Being Gilmore is a football player doesn't require him to play at his home school which would have been Workman. I find it real interesting that you feel it would have been ok for him to attend La Puente High but not Wilson. It would take the same paperwork to go to La Puente as it took to go to Wilson. Don’t forget Wilson is academically the best school in the district. Wilson has the second best football program in the district. We all know the best football program in the district for the last 30 years is Los Altos. If he was attending Los Altos your argument may have more foundation. If this was all about football and Gilmore then why has he not transferred to Bishop Amat? Bishop has been all over him this off season, he didn’t bite once. Free education, D1 School, much better shot at a College D1 scholarship. Gilmore took loyalty to his teammates and his school over what is best for his football career. Give the kid some credit, personally if I was his parent no way would he be attending Wilson his senior year. Based on CIF rules he would be attending Bishop Amat. The Wilson program is almost certain death for any senior football player this year.

WELL I HOPE YOU GUYS GET IT TOGETHER AT WILSON SO WE CAN HAVE OUR "BATTLE FOR THE WHEEL" THIS YEAR. AND WITH THE WHEEL AT WILSON THERE IS PRESSURE AT WILSON TO KEEP IT AND AT LA TO TAKE IT .. GOOD LUCK

I know the educational situation is not equal at the 4 high schools in HLPUSD. Still, we all know he didn't go there for academics.

As for his size and were he plays, that might not get him a D1 look, but it will most certainly get him a D2 or D1AA looks. Again, grades must be an issue if those schools are looking at him.

All I am saying is this: if education is the reason why a kid goes to a high school outside his area, then there grades should be point. This same tired excuse is the reason why many schools in So Cali can't compete anymore with the more affluent schools in their area or school districts. I'm not blaming Gilmore or Wilson for this problem, but it is a problem and using educational needs is not the way to fix it.

Wildcat,

If you believe that crap, I have some swamp land in Fla which you can build luxury condos on!! Hey, I like the kid and he is a great talent, so why don't we cut the b.s. about going to Wilson for an education. If Amat had been the old Amat when he left junior high, then he would have ended up there. I hate when people use the word education to justify why they went to a certain high school.

Hey if his education is so important, why haven't we heard about any colleges offering him? It sounds like grades are an issue because talent certainly is not.

HH Parent
If whatever you say coach has done is as bad as you say it is, you need to go to you need to go to the police!! Or else shut the heck up!!

mrman1,

Your comments are incorrect. The reason why Gilmore came to Wilson was for his educational needs, not football. He was suppose to be going to Workman. If he was going to a school for his football needs we all know where he would have went. Why don't you guys from LP drop that crap. Uncle Bob did what was best for Gilmore end of story.

I absolutely agree with mrman1, the crying and coach bashing needs to stop!! I say give the coach and his program a chance

I have been involved with the program for a couple of years and yes Gilmore got away with a lot in the past. This year with Hoyd it has crossed a line that no head coach should every cross. If it is made public what is going on Hoyd will never coach or teach again.

This is an unfortunate situation, but predictable. You have a first time head coach who needs to win in order to keep his job. You have a superstar player who knows this and is going to bend the rules to meet his own personal agenda. The Wilson faithful have treated Gilmore like a king for the last 3 years. So don't get mad now just because he is acting like he owns the roost!! Half the reason why he ended up at Wilson in the first place (should have been going to either LP or Workman) was due to the fact he was promised so many things. So you guys need to stop crying and deal with the situation your school and booster group helped create.

lets be real,

You lost that beat, all but one are on the JV and V team. I didn’t even mention parents that have come to me with concerns about what is going on with the football program. Not to mention one of these parents’s is very involved with the booster club. He is very unhappy with the direction the football program is taking. You know who I am talking about being that you are at those booster clubs meeting.

We are in a no win situation, Hoyd is the coach this year there is nothing anyone can do about it, it is way to late in the game. It is very frustrating knowing what I know about Hoyd and knowing that Clegg hired this guy with a history like his. Six jobs in six years no head coaching experience even when he was coaching youth football. Then he goes around campus telling all the kids he won all these rings. Any one that looks at his resume can go online and see that he has been involved with one team that made the playoff’s and lost in the first round. The only ring he may have won was with the Tustin Pop Warner pee wee team last year, but he didn’t even go to the championship games. That was the team that was accused of cheating and refused to show their original birth certificates when requested to by Regional.

As stated in the past this is a Clegg decision, I fully understand that Merrill who is the AD and does know his football had no say in this decision. Based on what I have been told by coaches that have dealt with Hoyd in the past he will be gone next year. Hopefully at that time if Clegg is still around he will get Merrill more involved in the decision process.

Bottom line Gilmore had a shot at a D1 Scholarship, but the kid needed to clean up his act and with Hoyd and staff as a row model Gilmore doesn’t have a chance.

HH Parent
Who is Clay?? If you are talking about the principal, his name is CLEGG!! Makes me wonder: Do you really know what you are talking about?

HH Parent,
You say you have heard from 4 kids complaining about the coach, I would be willing to bet that those boys never played football before high school, (ie Pop Warner or Jr. All American) and if they did, they played their required 10 and out. It's very easy to say the coach plays favorites when you have no talent. Of course the coach will pay a little more attention to the kids with potential. It seems to me like you just don't like the coach, did he say something to hurt your feelings at some point in time. GET OVER IT!! Let's give him a chance.

The problem is I am listening to the kids. Hoyd has made it very clear that he is going to take care of his elite players. That is where the problem starts, what about the other 40 kids in the program that don't get that special treatment. You don't think that JV running back doesn't notice that Gilmore shows up to practice 1/2 hour late and then leaves 1/2 hour early. You don't think those average players know about the illegal things that are going on. You don't think the kids talk. It's all around the school. All I have to say is Hoyd better clean it up and quick. I am a parent and have heard from four different kids about what is going on at the school.

I would like to leave one comment. You guys can sit here and post all you want about how Wilson will have a disappointing and long seasons. I have one thing to let you guys no, being apart of this program we will surprise many of you. Hop on the bandwagon now fellas, cuz its gonna be a sweet ride and we're gonna need your support. We dont need you guys talking negatively about our team. thanks

I was introduced to Coach Hoyd at the first meeting of the booster's back in March/April. I have attended each and every Booster meeting since then. (Even the meeting that was called where Coach Hoyd was intentionally left out.) I have never witnessed such an attack and attempt to discredit from folks that just must not have much else going on in their lives. Most of the Booster parents are caring and supportive and noticing a different attitude coming from their kids. If you really want to find out what's going on...listen to the kids. That's where it counts! I read these blogs and wonder what the agenda is. For heaven's sake these naysayer's can't even spell or know who the principals are!

Parent/Booster member,

Of course the kids love him, at least the chosen ones. Gilmore and company show up to practice when they want and they leave when they want. The kids are running the team not Hoyd. Gilmore is one of the greatest athletics in the area and all that talent is going to waste, no structure or discipline in his life. As Fred stated earlier I can’t go into the illegal active, but there is lots of that going on over their.

Now you talk about Hoyd being an outstanding coach, let’s talk about that. He has coached six different teams in six years as an assistant coach every year. Leaving one of the teams off his resume, that’s how bad it was when he left their. How did he get the job at Wilson, well they had around fifteen people apply for the job, they made an offer to two or three of them they all turned it down. Hoyd wasn’t on the list to hire but the one’s that were turned down the job or didn’t have teaching credentials, Clay’s requirement. Hoyd was the only person left, so they offered him the job.

He tells the kids he has won all these rings. Well if you check the records of the teams he has been involved in one made the playoffs and lost in the first round, zero rings. Now let’s talk about his process of developing players. The freshmen team can practice for six weeks during the summer, Wilson two weeks and done. The kids that need the most work are the incoming freshmen and you practice them for two weeks. Sure looks like Hoyd is building a program for years to come. The best one yet is the best coach in Wilson history, Coach Merrill (AD) can’t stand the guy.

As far as the booster club members that are non-parents from what I hear they, Uncle Bob and his wife are the only ones keeping Hoyd in check. All the parents on the board are making sure that they lock down their child's spot on the team. Now you make the comment that there are several non-parents that are causing problems on the booster club, red flag. You have several non-parents, you have Uncle Bob and his wife also that is a very large portion of you booster club. These non-parents have no vested interest and are doing what is best for the program not worried about if their son is going to start or not.

Based on my conversation with the kids it is going to be a real long season, the kids are dropping like flies. I don’t see the JV team winning a single game all year. The freshmen team still has one maybe two key kids that might play so it may win one or two games. We all know that the Varsity program rids on Gilmore, and Gilmore is Gilmore so they will win a few games, but it will be a very disappointing season. The real key is if Gilmore will survive through this season. His blocking back, Vega stands in at about 150 pounds. We all saw last year as a freshmen what happen to Vega. Of course if Hoyd watch any film he would know that. Their line is smaller than last year, and we saw what happen last year. The coaching especially on the offensive side has taken a huge hit. Real disappointing for Wilson parents.

it is a shame that they arcived this blog so soon, I would have loved to hear what other people had to say about this

The negative information posted in this blog is unfounded and irresponsible.
Coach Hoyd has inherited a young and inexperienced team that needs support from it's boosters and the Wilson community.

All Coach Hoyd is asking is that the boosters boost the football program. His coaching abilities appear to be outstanding and the boys love him. He is an excellent roll model for our boys.
All of the rumblings are coming from booster members, (and there are several), that do not have a child or family member in the program. They have no vested interest in the well being of the current team and are opposed to change.

Based on Fred omitting someone's comment, I’m sure I know what it is about. I have heard multi topics of concern about the football coaching staff that would involve school police. I was told that the school staff has been made aware of and is looking into at least on of these issues.

Please do no post comments that make serious allegations in the blog room. If you want to email it to me directly, I'll look into it. Otherwise, take it up with the school or the police, and if something happens as a result, we'll report on it, thanks.

Your article is real interesting; in talking to the kids and parents involved in the system I have been getting a totally different picture than Hoyd is giving you. The kids are walking all over the staff, no respect or discipline. Hoyd has been so worried about the kids like Gilmore leaving that he has lost control of the team. Hoyd currently has sixteen freshmen kids at practice, yes sixteen.

Clay screwed up the football program so bad by hiring Hoyd that Coach Merrill wants nothing to do with it. The talk around town is the big concern is if Hoyd’s coaching staff is going to hang around. Hoyd has been requesting for the booster club to pay his staff three times the normal coach’s rate. The booster club board is having a meeting with Coach Merrill (AD) to resolve this issue. The booster club wants to spend the money on the kids and Hoyd wants to spend the money on his staff.

It’s going to be a real long season over at Wilson, and probably a another one year and gone for Hoyd.
