It's on to UCLA for Charter Cove

Charter Cove's Tyler Garkow makes a pitch in a recent American Legion 18th District playoff game at Charter Oak High School. Charter Cove advanced with two forfeit wins.

In case you missed, the Charter Cove Post 555 baseball team won the American Legion 18th District championship last week after getting forfeit wins against South Pasadena and Diamond Ranch last week.
The team, which consists mainly players from Charter Oak High School along with Northview's Aaron Elias, Marc Andrade and Robert Williams and Covina's Tyler Pill, advanced to the 6th Area tournament this week, which is scheduled Thursday-Sunday at UCLA.
Charter Cove won the 6th Area last year before finishing third in the State Tournament.

SAY IT ANI'T SO JOE ABOUT KEVIN SMITH GOING TO COVINA.WE REALLY DON'T NEED THAT TYPE A COACH IN THE VALLE VISTA LEAGUE.ONE IS ALL WE CAN HANDLE.

Yes, the Hollenbeck colt teams are playing in the super regionals at Orangewood Park in West Covina - The 16 yr team played last night and beat Cypress 14-0 - The 15 yr team plays tonight, not sure who they play though.

Clay

You don't have to worry about Brookes.

He can throw, but wait till next year. we'll light him up...

What about...

Northview doesn't play graduated seniors on their team. Their coach asked them to throw against the arsenal and that was it. Who is Brookes? No one here has heard of him and you talking about Andrade getting hit in the head...that's classy. The ball hit his glove and glanced off his head. Is that newsworthy? Also, Elias did not get hit hard in any fashion that day, but even if he did, if you're good and put yourself out there against good teams, going to get hit once in a while. Does Brookes throw and if so, have him throw next time.

Wrong - are you sure? I know they are both on the C.Cove team as my son plays as well. Northview people - yes/no?? I wondered why they weren't playing on the NV team and I was told because they graduated.

That would be a HUGE mistake for Covina - that man is TROUBLE and has no honor or integrity. We do not need him at Covina. although I am not crazy about who we have, there has to be better out there.

Attention SGV Baseball Fans
Kevin Smith may be on the move to coach baseball at Covina High School as the South Hills AP who he is very close to has been hired as principal at Covina.

Elias and Andrade both pitched against the Arsenal. Both got hammered so yes they are still playing for Northview.

WHAT ABOUT - YOU NEED TO GET A CLUE. MAYBE I AM MISUNDERSTANDING BUT LET ME SET A FEW FACTS. THE 3 NV SENIORS, WILLIAMS, ANDRADE, AND ELIAS ARE NOT - REPEAT - NOT PLAYING ON NV'S SUMMER TEAM, THEY ARE PLAYING ON THE CHARTER COVE TEAM. WHAT'S YOUR POINT - ANDRADE AIN'T PERFECT AND NO ONE EVER SAID HE WAS, BUT HE IS UNQUESTIONABLY AN AWESOME PLAYER AND THE AWARDS HE RECEIVED THIS YEAR VALIDATED THAT, SORRY you GOT NOTHING AND ANDRADE WAS KEY IN TAKING IT TO SD ALL YEAR LONG. CLOSE GAMES YES - BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY - IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE 'W'. CHOKE ON YOUR HATE, IT'S FUGLY DUDE...

What About

And Brookes is going to lead the way for SD? Give it a rest, its a long way away.

What about when Northview got their asses handed to them by the SGV Arsenal a couple weeks ago. Andrade got snipered by Brookes from San Dimas. Andrade had to leave the game after taking one off the dome. Northview had all of their players too. Northview will not have the pitching to go far in CIF. They are still playing summer ball with Elias and Andrade on their roster.

How cool to see all the Covina boys (as in the city, not school) playing together and doing so well. You kids make the city proud. Continued success to this team.

GO VIKINGS GO

GO VIKINGS GO

Friends from Northview told me they played in San Clemente Tournament and did well. This tournament has some of the best high school teams in southern california there and a couple good Vegas teams as well. They beat El Toro 6-4(Div. 2 CIF CHAMPS) and Bishop Gorman 5-3(Nevada State Champs- #4 in the nation this year) on the same day in a doubleheader. Beat San Clemente 6-0. Lost to Los Alamitos 5-4 and Mater Dei 3-2 in another doubleheader day. Looks like the Vikes are going to be back in the running for another great year.
