Light, Camera, Oaks Christian

Above: L.A. Times photo of Nick Montana, Trevor Getzky and Trey Smith.

Valle Vista league teams won't have to worry about having Joe Montana, Wayne Gretzky and mega star Will Smith in attendance this playoff season. But what a box office attraction for Oaks Christian High School, the high school mecca to the stars. Montana's son Nick, Wayne's son Trevor and Will's son Trey are all on the team this season. Can you say paparazzi. Read about it in today's LA Times

Notre Dame has a connection with OC. Jimmy Clausen now at ND. You could almost bet Joe Montana wants to go that same route. Will Smith kid has no talent to get there sorry not in the jeans. Gretzky maybe but we know Wayne is a hockey player.

"DB fan"

South Hills????

Honestly, until i see results im not impressed. There are other ordinary , hard working kids that deserve the press.Interesting thing is, i bet neither one of these 3 are outspoken christians!?

Oaks Christian should be moved up to D1 and let them play with the big boys. When the school was being built many predicted that they would have an unlimited budget and would get players from all so-cal area. High school football is being dominated by teams that "recuit players" like Corona Centennial,Orange Lutheran,South Hills,St Bonaventure,LB Poly,Mater Dei,Mission Viejo,Oaks Christian, ect. Time for cifss to put all these team in the same division.

Fred-
last time I checked, it was spelled Gretzky and not Getzky. Off topic, are you still hanging out with Tony Zendejas?
Sincerely,
Scott Peterson & OJ
ps. Is there going to be some hot tail at those games?

We don't recruit money(LOL), and we'll see about the talent...

The Steve Clarkson connection is the really interesting story here, (well, after the Will Smith connection, anyhow). Steve's private QB training is a clearinghouse for kids who have a strong arm and a dad with with a platinum card. A 25¢ starbucks gift card for the first player at home to name two of big Steve's favorite Dads. (Interesting side note on Clarkson's camp is that it's part of the Edward DeBartolo Jr. sports training conglomerate. Yeah, that Eddie; the one the NFL ran off after he rolled over on the Governor of LA in a casino licensing and corruption case.) Friends in high places, huh?

But I digress. Yet again.

Montana didn't like the way things were playing out for his kid at De La Salle, so “hey honey, pack up the credit cards and the kid's cleats, we're moving to Thousand Oaks”. The other interesting thing at Oaks has been the departure of a couple of resident QB's for other schools after the arrival of the Montana's, one apparently to Chaminade. I guess $25,000 a year just doesn't buy what it used to.

Hey, maybe he converted.
