Leaders of the Pac

Great News from Bonitasports.com: Jeff Gelalich became the second Bearcat baseball player this summer to commit to a major college when he recently selected UCLA from several scholarship offers, to continue his baseball career in Westwood. Jeff, a left-handed hitting outfielder/first baseman, chose UCLA for many reasons, including their high academic standards and the quality coaching staff.

Jeff joins fellow senior and good friend Jiovanni Mier in making his college choice this summer, after Jio committed to USC earlier. They are already enjoying their future rivalry and there is no doubt the two will remain close friends throughout their baseball futures. But both will be teammates for one more season at Bonita.

Congratulations guys, hard work does get rewarded.

Good kids from great families.

Bonita's Baseball Team graduated a Catcher, (All-League HM), and two Outfielders, (both All-League).

Next year, they return an intact infield, (including three All-Leaguers), the #1, 2, 3 Pitchers and Gelalich in RF.

Hmmmmm.

Bonita, Charter Oak, and the rest of the Miramonte League will be in Div. 3 next year, not Div. 4.

Don't forget about Nico. I saw him throw this summer. Bonita may go all the way next year. D-4 ,with the addition of Bishop Amat, should be real tough.

I saw Bonita last season and I thought THEY were the best Miramonte League team. Those guys are gonna be tough next year, that's for sure.

I'm sure these kids families are happy but I'll be glad when they graduate.

congrats to both of them, as a pitcher, these two have given me the most difficult time to get them out. They both very much deserve to be going where they are. It's going to be a fun year next year.

Congrats to both families! These boys have worked hard and it's great to see them getting theirs. As Knotter would say, "Have a moment!" We still have some unfinished business in 09'!

Do both these young men play football too or will they protect themselves from getting hurt and play baseball only? I have seen far too many athletes risk there career and some even consequently lose a scholarship because of an injury from another sport like football.

Wow! Way to go Jeff and Jio! Bearcat baseball should be fun to watch next year.
