Why you have low numbers.

Why was last year’s team so successful?

Why is this year’s team off to such a bad start?

Last years freshmen team went 7-3, the year before 0-10.

This year may not even have a freshmen team.

A team is a reflection of its head coach.

Booster club members when you steal from the fireworks company instead of the kids that doesn’t make it ok. Stealing is stealing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if no one went to the speed camp that is great for Hoyd. We sent the screen print of the Wilson Website to CIFSS. We also sent the direct quote out of the bluebook (rule book) that Hoyd was breaking. Last I heard CIF was investigating Hoyd for illegal practices. Yes, it was a screen print before he made the changes.

Hoyd needs to follow the same rules as everyone else. He may have Wilson administration by the throat, but he sure doesn’t have CIFSS by the throat.

Wilson Freshmen Parent, Listening to rumors does not do anybody any good, wait for the facts and then make your decision is exactly what I would expect from a responsible parent.

I am one of those parent's that Coach Hoyd has talked to. When I talked to him I know that he was not being truthful. I haven't decided what I am going to do. But, I have left my options open knowing that Coach Hoyd isn't being honest with me. August 14 will be the telling date. If we have 30 plus kids like he told me show up to freshmen practice and a coaching staff then everything is good. If we have 15 kids and one or two coaches then I am gone.

This the last time I will make this comment. HH PARENT is not who you think it is. HH Parent is more than one person. I am aware of four different people making these negative comments about Hoyd. I am also aware of many more parents very upset with Hoyd. I am personally getting phone calls from three parents on the freshmen team, asking what to do. This is due to the lack of and inconsistent information about the freshmen team from Hoyd. These are all sign’s of trouble up a head that is my issue with Hoyd; he isn’t keeping the parents informed. Then when he talks to two different parents within a three hour period of time they get two totally different answers. If he was honest with the students and parents of Wilson High School then he wouldn’t have these issues. He has told multi parents that the freshmen coach quite, but some come up to him and he won’t answer the question. He tells some of the kids and parents they only have 10 kids on the freshmen team. Then he tells other parents he has over 30 with more coming. These parents’s don’t respect him because they don’t trust him. It will take a long time to regain that trust. That is also depending on what happens with the freshmen team, these parents may never trust him again.

You DON”T see the parents over at LA treating Coach Aguilar the way parents at Wilson are treating Hoyd. Note “Coach” Aguilar and Hoyd, Coach is a sign of respect.

Speedkills did right by us. I hope Wilson's boys get a good work out.

The email was sent to Chief Vasquez, now that the school district has been advised of this camp. It is going to be real interesting to see what happens now. Hoyd feels he is above all the rules, well lets see if the district will let him break their policies.

Wilson Football is the worst program in SGV and it has stupid players and parents

Wilson Football Booster is a joke, Uncle Bob can't you tell you need to leave and transfer Gilmore to Amat.

The booster club approved Speedkills coming to Wilson to train their kids only at a cost of $700. The booster club was told that it would be Wilson football players only.

Once again has this been approved by the school district. Since the coaching staff has nothing to do with this I am assuming that Jimmy has gone to the district and applied for a faculty usage permit. Opening it up to the public (making a profit) also bring into play the non-profit status, which is an issue in getting the permit approved through the district.

We all know what Hoyd is doing; this information needs to be forward to the district. Someone needs to call Chief Vasquez, and advise him of this. I hear he has dealt with Hoyd many times during Hoyd’s short career.

For all SGV athletes interested in attending the Speedkills workout at Wilson High School, here is a direct quote from Jimmy Nolan himself, regarding the when, where, how...(bring your cleats, water, sunscreen, etc...)

"Coach told me his booster club is cutting me a check for Wilson kids, and it's "open" to anyone and everyone else for $15 a session, per athlete. I will be training all the athletes with a few of my Speed Kills staff. No Wilson coaches will be there, as that is not allowed during this "dead period". We're training at Wilson's field next week, Monday thru Thursday (Aug 4-7), starting at 3pm each day. Sessions will last about 1 hour and 20 minutes. If the kids still have legs, I'm happy to stick around and supervise some 1 on 1's.

I still remember a few kids and would love to see how they have progressed. What D and O does the coaching staff have planned and who are the first few games against.

Let's once again go over this coaching staff. I will give you the short versus.

Hoyd, six jobs in six years at six different high schools, 7 in 7 years counting Wilson.

At the youth level last year, Tustin Pop Warner Pee Wee team, Defense coordinator. This team is known around the nation as the team that cheated to win a national championship last year. O ya did I point out that his son was also on this team, was he legal? According to Hoyd he was the proper age and it was the other parents that cheated. Hoyd states he had nothing to do with it. Did I also point out that the coaching staff when questioned about false birth certifications replied by saying "We are not responding to these questions we are leaving youth football and going to coach at the High School level" Do you want to guess where they are coaching now. Just in case you didn't figure it out Wilson High School. I am sure glad you are proud of this great coaching staff, aka the cheaters.

Why don’t you ask Hoyd to show these kids all these rings he won? He continues to talk about all these championships at the high school level. The teams he has been involved in have made the playoffs once and out in the first round.

This great coach you have, to date continues to make calls to his Orange County coaches in an attempt to get kids to transfer over to Wilson, and they aren’t coming. As a parent you need to realize this team does have a chance to make the playoffs, but zero change to go anywhere once they get their. Even if these kids are hitting the weights like never before, well the rest of the league has been doing the same for the last four years. Why do you think Coach O quit, the kids don’t want to put in the time and effort. Even Gilmore, he has one of the worst work habits in the area. He is so great; he feels he doesn’t have to work at it. That is why you have the leader of you team coming late to practice and leaving early. You have other kids on that team that Hoyd projects as leaders and the rest of the team has no respect for these kids. Bottom line a very weak program with a poor leader makes for a real long season.

I personally want the Wilson Football to succeed, and really feel for the kids that are seniors. This is their last shoot at doing something great; with Hoyd at the helm the administration loaded the gun with blanks.

Coach Hoyd and his coaching staff are good men willing to devote their time and talent teaching solid football skills on the field, and helping our young men make the right choices off the field. I have met them all and know first person they are capable and honored to lead our players in a positive impact football program.

The players enjoy their teammates this year and they are proud to be a Wilson HS Football Player.

The players are building school spirit and team character. Coach Hoyd promotes team building in integrity, trust, discernment, compassion, and competence. These values will stay with our son's for life.

My son looks forward to hanging with his teammates, practicing hard, staying physically fit, and is eager for team competitions to start in four weeks. He's proud of Coach Hoyd as their new leader.

This years football program is exciting because our boys are having fun. They're building memories and experiences that will be with them throughout their lives.

This blog can't change what's really happening to this team!

I was talking to a friend about the situation over at Wilson. The first point he brought up was a great one. Why are their so many issues at Wilson and not Los Altos. Both first year head coaches, Coach Aguilar over at LA is the less experience of the two. The expectation at LA is much higher than at Wilson. He then answered the question; Coach Aguilar over at LA does the coaching and booster club does the fundraising. I talked to some friends over at LA and they told me that Coach Aguilar makes it appoint to be busy during the booster club meeting to avoid even going to the meetings. It sounds so simple a Head Coach, coaches’ football, booster club does fundraising. It didn’t take Coach Aguilar to long to figure that out.

Answer this question why does Hoyd want all the money to go through him?

HH Parent, That is very alarming. You mean any of these coaches could be voilent or worse sex offenders. You Wilson parents need to get on the phone with district asap.
This is a perfect example on how Coach Hoyd has no concern for childs safety. It falls on his lap to make sure these coaches can coach. Maybe it needs to take someone getting hurt to make this community wake up.

From reading all the input on the Coach Hoyd accusations has anyone from the paper gone to Wilson or the district and asked about what is going on. Maybe something from the Trib on an official basis will put a calm to all this retoric going on in the blog. I believe it is time for you to step in because it is getting ugly and I would hate to see your superiors shut it down because of this . Exchanging barbs with fellow football fans on various subjects is one thing but this is totally out of hand. I know people will come on here and say I have no right to speak considering what went on with the Verti situation at AMAT but it never got to this point , It was all about what was happing on the field of play .

As of last week none of his coaches were approved by the district.

This was brought to the district's attention when concerned parents questioned the younger coach’s lack of responsibility. Come to find out that none of the coaches were life scanned. Which means none of Hoyd’s coaches were approved to be on the field with our kids. All these issues are just brushed under the table. The school administration and district has opened it's self up to major law suits.

remember in order to be on field every coach has to have a document signed-off by the principal, Atheltic director and the head coach. This documentation is controlled by the district public information.

Get some help,
You should be concerned with welfare of the children that are being led by coach Hoyd. If you have a child in this program you better check into all these aligations. Even if these are all lies there is always some level of truth.

Call the school board, ask to confirm that all his staff underwent backround checks (criminal), that they have been trained in the proper way of Blocking & Tackling. Just because you played football does not make you a coach. Check to make sure they have all there shots,the are certified in first aid,
ask to interview every coach that will come in contact with your child. it is better to safe than
sorry. .

Remember it is Coach Hoyd's first year coaching your child technically he is stranger to your world.

It is the school administrations responsibility to inform the parents of the status of the football program.

Okay everyone calm down, take a deep breath and relax. Where were all these Wilson voices last year? Listen, I don't care if Steve Bogan, Lou Farrar or Greg Gano took over at Wilson, this was going to be a tough rebuilding year so ease up on Hoyd a little, give the players some peace of mind and let them have fun. As for all the other accusations, that's all they're. There's no reason to vent like you have on this thread, it doesn't do the players, your program or anyone else at Wilson any good. As for all these accusations, take them in-house to the school and if anything happens as a result, we'll report on it.

What I am concerned about is Hoyd had the opportunity at our meeting yesterday to address some of these issues. I would like to know if they have found a new freshman head coach. I would like to know how many kids are attending freshmen ball. He chose not to reply to any of these comments on the blog that concerns me as a parent. As a parent no comment is not good news

I have been and will continue to support Wilson High School. I do not support the hiring of Hoyd. I do understand that he was the only person left after the other candidates turned down the job. We are better than that; there is no reason we had to accept the bottom of the barrel.

After looking at his resume and talking to coaches that have coached with him and against him, I very quickly found out he is a man that you can't trust. I was told about the money issues and the habitual lying before he started at Wilson. From what I was told the school administration was also aware of these issues before hiring him. I was also told Hoyd is gone after this year; they are too far into the season to replace him now. The real current issue is the lack control of Hoyd; the school administration continues to allow this behavior.

From what I have been told this behavior is why Hoyd applied for a job in LA County. He had a real poor reputation in Orange County; no one would even hire him as a Defensive Coordinator. RED FLAG; six different defensive jobs at six different High Schools in six years.

Looks like this blog makes Howard Stern seem tame. People can just come on her and badmouth anyone they want. What happened to libel and slander? Should the Trib be setting rules or is this the wild west?

Iam from another school in whittier. Just thought I would give my take. HH Parent you sound like someone from another school. If you were someone from Wilson you would not be telling people to transfer out of the school your son goes too. Football is not the 1st item someone should look at when going to a school, how about a education. Did you stand up and say something at the meeting, over and over again like you do here. Last maybe you should transfer your son from the school and move on.

Just to inform all parents this camp has to be free. Speedkills, Jim Nolan cannot use Wilson High School equipment and facility and charge the kids, aka make a profit. These facilities can be used by non-profit organizations only. I am also assuming that this has been cleared by the district and Mr. Nolan has a permit. Their will be phone calls made to validate that the permit has been issued, I’ am sure Chief Vasquez will be interested in this. You know the guy that shut down that semi-pro team playing on the field without a permit.

Well, well now the camp is being ran by Jim Nolan only. I guess the blogger earlier was wrong. Hoyd seams to have changed the way it is worded on his website. Just to let you know Hoyd, you are not trusted or liked in this community. We are going to be watching to make sure you do follow CIF rules. You may have Wilson administration between a rock and a hard place, but you don't have CIF.

Just to make sure you are aware, no coach on your staff are allowed to assist this guy, it is called a dead period for a reason. If you would like I can get you a copy of the CIF rule book, o never mind you don't follow rules. That why you coached at Tustin Pop Warner, the cheaters of Pop Warner. What I find very interesting is your comments and based on the fact that you are on the booster club board and are a Hoyd supporter. You go on and state;

That comment leads every one of us to believe that you are aware of some of the wrong doings that Hoyd is doing. The issues that you are stating are "simple not true" how can you be sure that they aren't true. You can only be sure of what he has done not what he hasn't done. I am assuming the selective piece is telling us that you have more information than what is available on this blog about the money issue with Hoyd.

All in all you message is confirming that Hoyd can't be trusted; it just how corrupt is he. What I don’t understand is I have been involved in youth sports for decades and have never had a head coach handle so much of the money that goes to the booster club. Hoyd handing checks to the treasury that are written out to Wilson High School and then the treasury writing checks back to Hoyd for the same amount is unbelievable. Your booster club members need to get some balls and stand up to him. In these few months Hoyd has destroyed the football at Wilson, not the people on this blog.

You need to be accountable for you actions as board members and respond to these requests. You are a non-profit organization and any one can request copies of your books and statements.

The date today is July 29, 2008, you as a booster club board don’t know what your profits from the firework stand are. That is a joke, you do know but you don’t want any one else to know due to the back door deals with other board members and the coaches. I heard that one of the board members had a big party that night and used thousands of dollars of fireworks at that party, cost FREE.

If he is so poor at handling money, especially cash then why is it that he continues to insist the money go through him. Why is it that the school administration has been involved multi times when it comes to money? Why is it that the district administration has been involved when it has to do with money. The majority of the issue's with Hoyd have to deal with money.

All the evidence is in your books and those camps that the booster club received no money from. What about the money from the semi pro team playing those three weekends. The semi pro team pays to use the field, where did that money go, it sure didn’t go to the booster club. Hoyd is using Wilson High School as his personal fundraiser and no one really cares, what a joke.

When Hoyd goes to the booster club and turns in checks and has a check written out to him for the same amount from the booster club. Where is the accountability? When the assistant principle, Jamie Millan tells the board not to write another check to Hoyd. When the Athletic Director David Merrill wouldn’t talk to the guy, and has washed his hands of the football program. It looks like to me that the school administrative staff wants nothing to do with Hoyd so they don’t go down with him. Why is it that Merrill makes it very clear to everyone that he wasn’t involved in hiring Hoyd. Hoyd has zero support from the administrative staff because they have no attention of going down with him. Hey Fred or Steve why don’t you call the school talk to Merrill or Millan about Hoyd and watch what they have to say about him. I bet you are going to get a “no comment”.

You want to talk about money, here is some numbers for you;

Hoyd told the board members he had 35 kids per camp * 3 camps = 105 kids

105 kids * $75 per kid = $7,875

Semi Pro team played three games and one scrimmage at Wilson High School

Hoyd told the board he was going to get paid $500 per game and the booster club would get the snack shack revenue.

3 games * $500 = $1,500

Now we are over $9,000 just on these two events.

That isn’t factoring in all the cash transactions that never made it to the booster club.

That is also not factoring in all those checks made out to Wilson Booster Club that were converted to “GREG HOYD”

It makes me sick to think of how much money he has stolen from these kids.

Well now lets talk about the meeting last night. It was great, just like I said. "Cougar" had talked about this isn't the place to discuss these issues, well I am going proof that it is. That meeting last night, is all the proof you would need. Everyone of those board members know about the comments on the blog, everyone of the board member is personally aware of at least 50% of these issues discussed on the thread. The School administration is aware of these issues and they will not discuss them with the parents. I have multi friends that are concerned about the freshmen issue. No coaches, 10 kids, etc. Well they don't know what to do because no one is going to give them any information. I told them no information is bad news. If they had anything good to say they would say it. They aren't going to tell the parents we have a freshmen team when they don't know that is the case.

All incoming Wilson Parents be aware it doesn't look good for your child to be playing freshman ball this year. Just so every parent is aware, you child can transfer out of Wilson and is still eligible to play football at another school all the wall up to the first day of school. It is not to late to transfer out.

As far as the money goes from what I have been told the booster club is so messed up tht Hoyd hands them checks when he wants and they have to accountability as far as what it is for. I sure would like to know if Wilson every got paid the $750 for the pre-season game that the semi-pro team played their. That is how much the team paid HOYD.

Well I went to the meeting today, and let me tell you I was so impressed with our football players. They showed support for their coach Hoyd and spoke up and express heir gratitude towards the Coach. I observed some mature boys who have confidence in the coach. I haven’t read any of the immoral blogs, but I know I’m here to support my coach, staff, and especially the kids. As for the booster parents, god bless them, if you’ve ever been a volunteer you know theirs always someone ready to shoot you down. To bad a malicious person is using the web to do it. SO STOP IT!!!

It says right on the flyer that "Speedkills Partners with WildCats during the Dead Period"..then "offering a four day camp to incoming freshman and current Wildcat Players."..Regardless if Greg Hoyd is affiliated with SpeedKills away from WHS, he is still the HFC at WHS and therefore CANNOT have any contact with incoming freshman or current WildCat Players during the "Dead Period". It is plain and simple..I don't know the coach, don't know the circumstances surrounding the program, but my question is where is the oversight from the A.D. (Still Dave Merrill?), and the Administration with regards to this camp? I understand the need to create revenue for your staff. They commit to long hours for little pay; therefore the opportunity to generate some income will increase the stability and consistency of a program; coaches will stay for more than a season if they are compensated above the working poor, will become fixtures, develop student-athletes, and a cycle of success is created. Finally, I don't think anyone benefits from the airing of problems in this type of forum. If there is something below board going on, take it up with the administration and ALLOW them to do their due diligence and their jobs. If nothing gets accomplished seek out Fred J, supply him with FACTS and see if you can get something done through the writing of a strong article. Nothing is served by the attacks, on both sides, in an open forum. The kids lose, and, aren't they they most important aspect of any athletic program?

I understand why you would like this thread to go away. But you have to understand it isn't going away. Coach Hoyd needs to be accountable for his actions. Why doesn't Hoyd just answer the questions and concerns that these parents have. You know that Hoyd is just going to not show up or change the subject and move on. As a board you need to have him answer the questions that have been asked in the past and on this blog.

What is very interesting is that you are part of the booster club and you know that many of these comments are valid concerns. The money issues have been discussed with school officials, but not resolved so now school officials are going to have to act on the issues. If they don't then it will be escalated to district officials. The school had done a very poor job of making Hoyd accountable for his actions. Shame on all you involved.

I would like to understand why Hoyd turns in checks to the booster club, then the booster club writes a check out to Hoyd for the same amount of money that he turned in. Where did this money go? We have no accountability or control of Hoyd. How money has already gone back into his pocket, it needs to stop NOW.

It is ultimately the schools responsibility to control him. This issue has been brought up to school administrations and it hasn't been resolved to date.

The reason Gilmore is playing fullback is because Wilson will be running an offense based on the triple option and the fullback sets the tone for that offense therefore you want your best player at fullback in that offense.

District officials have been notified and are looking into this, including the district police, for any wrong doing.

Here is a money maker for someone. Hoyd had three camps; he told the booster club he had about 50 kids at each camp. That would be 150 kids, but let’s go with smaller numbers and say the total number was 100 instead of 150. That’s 100 x $75 equal’s $7,500 profit. That’s at 100 total kids; he told the booster club he had 150 kids.

I have a couple of issues I would like to discuss about Hoyd. This issue has to do with money. Hoyd had six summer camp sessions and he told the booster club that the money was not booster/Wilson High School money. Hoyd took all the proceeds and divided them up between him and his coaches. If I am not mistaken isn’t that against school policy. You can not use school facility to make a profit. Did he fill out a facility Usage Permit with the District?

I am also questioning where all the money went from that semi pro team that played at the field those three Saturdays. From what I was told Hoyd was getting paid $500 per game, where did that money go. Once again did Hoyd fill out a facility Usage Permit with the District?

I am also questioning why the booster club continues to allow Hoyd to intercept the money that is being paid to the booster club. As a booster club member it is your responsibility to protect the funds on behalf of the kids in the program. Being that Hoyd HAS NOT turned in any cash to the booster club to date, only checks. That is a real big RED FLAG. Someone needs to stand up to him and do what is best for the program.

Now Hoyd’s coaches have never been cleared to coach. With some of the issue’s that have come to the attention of the school and district you would have figured that Hoyd would have taken care of this. Especially being it is District policy that no coach is allowed to coach until they have been cleared.

As a School and/or District administrator I would be concern with these acts. What concerns me as a parent I am sure the District and the School is aware of Hoyd’s questionable action and continues to allow him to proceed. I guess that is why the RUMOR is all over the place that Hoyd is resigning.

First of all Hoyd yes Hoyd was the only one left during the hiring process. We offered the job to two other people, I believe one was from out of state, couldn't make the move in the required time. We got what we paid for, a head coach with no experience, and questionable chacter.
