South Hills-Bishop Amat, sort of....

You won't see these two giants going at it in the fall, so this is as good as it gets. Don't miss the four-way passing league at South Hills on Thursday, which starts off with none other than South Hills vs. Bishop Amat at 5 p.m. Why don't they play an annual "nonleague" game? That's a good question. From everything I've heard, this game is on the table whenever South Hills wants it.
The games that follow South Hills-Amat Thursday include ...
Colton vs. St. Bonaventure
South Hills vs. Colton
Bishop Amat vs. St. Bonaventure.
St. Bonaventure vs. South Hills
Colton vs. Bishop Amat.
It should all be over around 8, so enjoy.

Danian Rios,
That was the best post on this thread I couldn't agree more, some of this bashing is pretty sad, good luck to all schools
this season.

Keep those wins in passing league,
Hey bud let's leave the talking up to the shoulder pads and helmets come week 2.
Don't think coach like all the trash talk.

People, I've never heard so much ridiculousness in my life. FYI Geoffrey Vaghns is a great kid and is without a doubt and one of the best in the area. Please stop bashing kids in general. You don't know them on a personal level and you are just talking to hear yourselves talk. Northview is a fantastic team and did some great things against us. We respect both them and Amat and wish them the best during the season. There is no need to single out kids or talk about competition during the summer. Kids are growing, getting experience and preparing for their season. Stop all of the trash talk and stop trying to create animosity. The truth is, all of our staff's respect each other and enjoy playing each other in preparation of our seasons. It is you people that have the ability to run amuck on these blogs and create animosity that truly doesn't exist. It's all competition; it's all in fun and there is no reason to trash talk. Let the kids be kids and play to the best of their ability. For those of you on this blog; you have already had your hay day. Stop trying to live vicariously through these kids. You should be embarrassed.

Husky pride way to be a loyal fan or Jeffery's father, you only saw that exchange through the eyes of a huskey. The kid from SJ never threw a punch he showed alot of class on the field. Jeffery's punch missed and the kid from SJ just laughed. To an outsider he looked like a frustrated little boy. Does he always hold and pull shirts cuase we wont get away with that in a real game. This #2 pick is going to prove that Fred is not always right.

go saints who is better than vaughn at south hills other than umodu?
and also the kid from bosco was not laughing after getting popped in the mouth, plus he threw at geoff first

Go Saints, WOW Vaughns is the guy Fred has ranked as the #2 WR in the SGV. Not only did he not shut his mouth, but he was getting absolutely abused by NV! Oh well it's only passing league anyway! How are the Saints looking this summer? Do you guys throw much during the summer?
Posted by: Raul | July 17, 2008 6:17 PM
Raul, The loud mouth for South Hills is Jeffery Vaughn, SH has better why they put up with him is anyones guess. Rumor is Passing league game against ST John
Vaughn got so frustated that he threw a punch and the kid just laughed at him.

Dont judge SHHS by the passing league for some reason they are not showing their best. Take a close look at whos on the side lines.

when Deen and Lenhart go head to head, who will Chris Rix pull for? he coaches lenhart at amat, but hasn't he been working with deen since his freshman year!

All schools that talk about how great they are and hate on Bishop Amat, have your coaching staff man up and play Bishop during the season. W. Co and DR atleast signed the contrat to play. Until your team plays Amat in pads it is ridiculous for you to kepp talking. I have more respect for the coaches who accept the challenge than those who hide behind a screen name and talk about how they can beat Amat.

Hey Outsider! Northview went to South Hills yesterday and took it to em. South Hills was flustered. They picked off Deen 5 or 6 times and scored 5 or 6 TD's vs the SH defense. Who is the SH WR/DB who would not shut up? Man was he frustrated. He was getting abused on both sides of the ball and did not shut his mouth. I even saw some lady, maybe a SH booster, take him to the sideline and sit him down. The Vikings were pretty impressive yesterday. By the way they already beat Bishop Amat in the Bonita tournament! So why the hype for SH vs. BA??? Good job Vikings!

SHHS,
La Habra is going to kick you azz again this season. They are loaded this year again. The highlight film I watched of last year was embarassing. More of the same this year.

Sports fan at least WC has the balls to schedule Amat what is SHHS excuse? Show us how to play football? you first have to step on the field with the Lancers. Passing league does not count.
Posted by: Lancer 2 DN | July 16, 2008 7:43 PM
people, passing league is a nice thing to do for skill positions to work on timing, recognition, and scheme. but there have been many teams over the years that never lost a passing league game but never WON a real game. keep it in its proper perspective and passing league will help. blow it out of proportion and it will give you a false sense of security. no matter how it unfolds tomorrow, bishop amat has a storied tradition that cannot be taken away. south hills has recent success that can't be discounted. there are talented kids in both programs. therefore, let's allow the passing league to be what it was designed to be for these youngsters: WORK,PRACTICE, AND FUN! any thoughts?

Every team is #1 in passing league..
Then reality sets in with Friday Nights Lights...
Oh watch out for the lineman to make the difference...

sports fan,
Please ,show us how to play football ? Why not schedule us during the real season and show us then how to play football. Please read both good program's post because he is right on with his logic.

Passing League? I see you have already starting with the the excuses when SHHS shows Amat how to play football.
Posted by: sports fan | July 16, 2008 2:37 PM
Joe, how mistaken you are. Passing League? Is not a good tool for measurement. You play with 11 in a real game. So Hills could not measure up to Amat in a full contact game. Passing league is what it is a passing league. games are not won and lost here. Full pads and a game with all the lights on a friday is where it counts. Re-think your statement.

NORTHVIEW went to South Hills yesterday for passing league. Anyone know how that went
Posted by: outsider | July 16, 2008 2:04 PM
I was able to watch amat play a passing league game recently. I was expecting to see all these D-1 prospects. Needless to say I was disappointed. They are average. Any school with a little talent can compete with them. Includeing south hills.

Tomorrow should be a great day with amat vs shills u will have
Price against umodu
johnson against roddy
seals against vaughns
deen against lenhart
now we can see whose for real the secondary of amat or the recieving core from the hillz
Posted by: Cant wait! | July 16, 2008 1:26 PM
Real simple, Play Amat, get beat by Amat and your players in the So. Hills Area start to come play for Amat. By not playing each other So. Hlls gets to keep some of their talent there. Flip side to that is if Amat drew all that talent to their campus then they have legit shots at Pac 5 D1 banners, but you got to give So. Hills credit they have maintained a solid program and have kept some of their kids there and they have developed some good players and have some banners to speak of themselves. Maybe not Pac5 D1 banners but you cannot take it away from them they have done a great job of consistancy in having good teams year in and year out. Amat does not get the creme of the creme players anymore. Tuition for Private schooling is expensive and with our tough economic times in the present I dont think they would go to Amat anyway. Too much damn Money. Stright up tho Amat beats So. Hills in football without a doubt.

South Hills honks,
What is the rational for not playing Amat for nearly fifty years? I know it must be security issues as the folks from the hills cannot risk robbery, theft murder in LP. No, it must be the price of gas for the bus ride from West Covina to LP. No, that is not it so it must be that Amat is a top tier D1/PAC 5/4AAAA program and it would not be right to have the out classed SHHS play a larger school. What is the real reason?
