Just Tribbin
An open discussion, whoever and whatever you wanna talk about. After speaking with the Scouting Guru, I decided to pull his thread on Sunday night. He doesn't mind providing us with information, but he was tired of the personal insults and cheap shots. He'll continue to provide me with information that I can share from time to time, but for now, the Guru is leaving the room.

Top Ten things that could happen in '08 ...
1. Gano pulls a Favre and comes of retirement.
2. West Covina shocks Amat, covers the 28-point spread.
3. Aram is seen cheering from the Charter Oak sidelines.
4. Crutchfield boldly predicts Duarte will beat South Hills
5. Greg Hoyd eliminates the Wilson booster club
4. Edgewood will become a high school again
3. Amat starts No. 1, then drops out of top ten completely.
2. Someone will quit for "family reasons."
1. Bloggers pledge to be more respectful? Okay, nine things that could happen in '08

Comments
So you took things out of the Hoyd thread, big deal. I;'m sure he is still persecuted because of this blog. Sure he is a head coach, but he is not Pete Carrol or any other big time coach that is subject to public scrutiny.
High school coaches and especially players should not be criticized on a public forum. There is no reason why people should be calling Hoyd, Aguilar, or any other coaches the names they have been called on this blog. Do you realize that these coaches do more work than anyone else on campus...
The kids should especially not be called out on this blog. McDonough, Barbone, Harris, Gilmore, should not be told that they suck on this blog. These are great kids that do great things and minors should not be subject to such horrible comments.
If negative comments can't be said about the guru, then they shouldn't be said about anyone.
THIS BLOG SHOULD GO AWAY!!!!!

Dan Fan,
Thank you for the compliments, it sounds like it would be fun, the problem is that due to my work schedule I wouldn't be reliable, for example for the last two weeks I've been working 6 - 10's
down at the Harbor, and often getting out of work at the peak of trafic hour, by the time I get home not a lot of time to do things,
but I do enjoy posting a few times a week here, and will continue to do so when I get my chances.
Good luck with that "sportswriter type show", hope it comes through for you guy's.

Dan I must say I love to hear your comments. What a great way to be supportive and honest about your team. I really don't ever remember a negative comment coming from you.
I spoke with Fred about sponsoring a "Sportswriter" type show which would include Steve, Fred, a couple of other sports guys, and a couple of bloggers to discuss upcoming games and coaching matchups. Also would like to invite "guest" assistant coaches to maybe breakdown a scheme or play that won a game that week.
Dan I couldn't think of a better person to "bank" on.
Great way to promote the kids, learn about the game and promote SGV in general. Maybe even bring some needed peace to this blog. WHat happened to SGV GURU really was the inspiration.
Would you be interested?

Breaking it Down,
Pretty excited about WC's coming season, lots of match ups against good local programs that we never played before such as Amat, Glendora & Los Altos, we also play Diamond Bar who we haven't played in a long time, and then of course there is the annual showdown against those Dogs down the street, the South Hills Huskies.
I'm curious as to how good we will be, I think we will be pretty good, but there is always those question marks, we have 6 or 7 sophmores coming back who seemed like they improved as the season got later, also some 6 or 7 junior starters or at least they played a lot, who will be back plus some transfers who will help the team.
I also think our qb will
be good enough to run the offense effectivly despite being young & lacking varsity experience.

breaking news,
Thanks for the term of endearment my fellow "brah"! Please tell me that’s Caucasian for brother or if that offends are you alluring me to be your man friend? Regardless, you do not want to antagonize me (big word use the dictionary on the internet) because I am not in the mood but then again maybe you are from your post darling. I really will just upset you again even more and your insecurities will continue to be exposed for who you are and that’s a Charter Oak “Choker”! And everyone is by now sensitive to how much you enjoy choking on and off the field in football and the chicken! Oh, and to answer your question my team is whosever team you want me to be baby! Not yet, you still have to tease me so more! XOXO...even longer this time just how you like!

breaking news,
The only one who is insecure is you and your Chargers! You continue to have to remind us that your going to better this year when truth be told your going to be worse. You cannot seal the deal and get the job done in Novemeber and December so be careful who your pointing a finger at because four more are being pointed back at you. Your schedule says your going to be under .500! Leave the "real" men alone your the one going to be SAD!

MTC , ANYMOUSE ,
Great to see you guys back. Same situation here, got tired of fighting a battle of wits with bloggers who have no ammunition. I even fell into it trying to fight all the negative comments on the race and area insults. Maybe if we get enough of the old timers ,Bluorca , MATMWBAG ,DAMIEN DAD alias MEAN MACHINE and all the others plus some new ones with great insight we can get back to football and cut the other crap out. Our problem is we are easily identified by posting under the same name all the time hence easy targets .Stay on the blog as you can see you stirred up the pot pretty good.

I like the point "BREAKING IT DOWN" makes about who does know what about sports. Well, I'm pretty sure that was his point anyway.
The assertion that to fully understand sports and athletes one must have been an athlete is fairly new. America had been pretty comfortable with the scribblings of the likes of Ring Lardner, Grantland Rice, Jimmy Cannon, and Jim Murray, (all notable non-jocks), for years. Guys like this were the ultimate arbiters of athletics until about the mid 1970's, (think Monday Night Football).
It is only the advent of the “color man” on TV and a generation or four of TV watchers that has led us to believe that the only guys who understand the game are the ones who played. What's more, this line of reasoning supposes that better the player played, the more he knows, (think OJ Simpson or Joe Theismann).
Now most of us know that for every Joe Torre or Mike Scioscia teaching and leading pro ballplayers, there are legions of guys like Jimy Williams, Tom Lasorda, and Bobby Cox. Sadly, TV and radio hasn't always gotten the word. I mean, who among us hasn't thrilled to the insight provided by a Dan Deirdorf as he explains what a cornerback might be thinking or when Tim McCarver or Joe Morgan explain an arcane rule of Baseball. Shivers, huh?
So who is to say what makes someone an authority on sports ... or not. Ever see Eric Sondheimer playing QB?

I’m glad to see that you still are around and glad that you are doing great. I’m glad you popped in to say hi. It has been awhile and I completely understand why you don’t “blog” anymore. I understood then and I understood now. You know if I were there I’d be shaking that hand of yours and saying thanks for your service. YOU THE MAN!

What is UP? The kid is a senior…. you have to be proud Dad. I’m sure he will do you right on that field. Man, I still read the blog but it’s just not the same. As I stated earlier about our battles here we always would get “ticked off “ at each other but hey I know I always respected you. And man did we battle. OK I have to admit you handed me some “whoop ass” ONCE IN AWHILE (laughing). Hey man it was awesome to hear from you hope you have a great senior year it will go bye fast as you know. Hope all is well with the family and yourself.
Ahhhhh……. I was going to say something to my friend the Clone hater but what for he’s too easy a target to blast away at. It was great reading though and I apologize for ruining his life with his obsession of me. EEERRRRR sorry!

Fred,
I have a question; you don't seem to report on the negative facts, you tend to avoid them. I am assuming this is based on the fact that the schools will stop communicating with you if you did report the negative as well as the positive. A perfect example is the Wilson situation; this information about the state of the program can very easily be validated. Not all but a majority of the information can be validated by just asking the administration the question. You may get a no comment, but you can report the no comment. I know for a fact that some of the board members are more than willing to talk to you about the illegal and immoral issues that have a raised since Hoyd has taken over the program. It is extremely frustrating to parents to see what has happen to the program at Wilson in one year. All this stuff doesn’t have much to do with how well they are going to do on the field but it will affect the program in the coming years. The talk is all around the Heights, no one that is any one when it comes to football is going to allow their child to attend Wilson in the future if Hoyd is involved with the program.
Based on the fact that you haven’t reported on this to date, I am assuming you have been asked by school administration not to, and that it is going to be taken care of internally. If you are interested in reporting on this issue I can forward to you names and phone numbers of people involved with the booster club that have directly seen most of the activities that have been reported in the earlier thread. I haven’t confirmed that these people will talk to you due to the fact that the booster club has been making personal attacks on some of the board members because of this information leaking to the blogs in the past. Another direction you can take is talk to Uncle Bob, you know him real well, and he is a very honest person. If asked the question he isn’t going to lie.

I don’t think you should be bragging about this W-L record. It pretty much makes MTC point all along. You are willing to accept mediocrity. If I were you I would quit setting yourself up as a big target. Already in the last couple of days people have had to correct you on numerous occasions. I think your obsessions with MTC has blinded you and now its just turning out to be blind envy of MTC. You remind me of little Johnny who comes home crying to mommy because nobody wants to play with him.
Look at the record and I think you will be a little more realistic in your observations. Yes the W-Ls are consistent and very average at best. Is that what you want? Your post sure look like you are complacent as the Judge has pointed out.

Judge "Mike" Brown, ALTER EGO NO.2
Gee Mike I like you more and more when you discuss "IT", the lack of everyone's ELSE'S intelligence, the lack of Glendora, AS A COMMUNITY, lacking INTESTINAL FORTITUDE, but I really enjoyed your backhanded slights and your OVER THE TOP "WE" get "IT" so carry and disregard those who don't adore you. (that would be me)
OWNERSHIP, PRIDE AND TRADITION...vices? Dude you really need to stop, you're killing me!
How about ARROGANCE, DISMISSIVENESS AND BOASTFULNESS...THOSE ARE VICES.
As far as Glendora "COMING UP SHORT" over Coach Pasquerella's tenure well let's see...7-4. 7-4. 9-3. ( 23-11 ) think TRAJECTORY. Remeber the UPLAND win...of course you don't, you were too bust hiding your face. Too bad the COMMUNITY really enjoyed that one!
Either way Mike, Coach Pasquerella PROVED YOU WRONG! Keep teling every one how YOU would have been the DIFFERENCE MAKER towards that Championship that LONG TIME GLENDORIANS can't produce because apparently GLENDORA MOM'S breed weak kids and GLENDORA DADS "settle" for mediocrity in spite of your best efforts. Either way YOU KNOW BETTER. ( TRANSPLANT )
So tell us Mike, WHAT IS IT THAT GLENDORIANS "DON'T GET"...Define the mystical..."IT"...but remember once we get "it" what will your "groupies" talk about? Oh yeah your playing days!
And then...and then...and then....(my hero) gushing non ahletes, eyes a twinkling...sigh sigh smile and CUT!
THAT'S A WRAP!
WELCOME BACK MIKE

Dan you make a great point. "THAT" should have been done more than once. Way too many comments have "gone too far".
Hoyd and SGV GURU are just the latest but certainly not the worst.
Dan, let's talk football and leave this nonsense to others...
How's the team? Any player you're really excited about? How about games? Any "can't miss" games?

Been reading since Aram started this blog & started posting a few weeks after, [not that it means much], anyways, good to see a few of the old posters come back, don't take things so personal next time, no reason to stay away, to bad it got so personal with the scouting guru, its always fun to read different opinions on the schools & players that he posted, also thought the Hoyd thread got ridiculus, & should have been erased.

Mike the Clone, Joe Amat, and Anymouse
Wow, just the other day I was trying to explain to someone about "It" and unfortunately after making literally no progress I came to the realization so few get "It" anymore. I do remember our long conversations about "It" and imagine right now I’m frustrating some of the other readers because like we've always said they just don't get "It" and never have and unfortunately probably never will.
Mike the Clone and Joe Amat several times I have interrupted conversations honestly because either one or both your names were mentioned regarding comments you’ve posted in the past. So regardless of what people may say and think about you, legendary status exists because you’ve appealed to peoples’ irrational and never have any of them been able to reason with your brains. Your life experiences and wisdom elevates you to a level no one else can comprehend let alone attain. I agree though we can’t go back and until someone moves forward in the name of “DO THE RIGHT THING!” I too will stay away and off the blog.
What we need to do is contact Aram and go drink beers at Pizza Chalet and be the best armchair quarterbacks this Valley has ever seen. Anyways, our Valley needs Bishop Amat to overachieve this year for our identity and then they can once again claim local supremacy. I like that the Lancers have scheduled local schools to then attract top tier athletes from other programs and maybe in the next several years we will once again see the rise of our parochial school competing in the Pac 5 for C.I.F., State, and National recognition. As far as Glendora is concerned I am almost under the impression they continue to underachieve and mediocrity is ok by them. Ownership, Pride, and Tradition are powerful vices but at least in my opinion I haven’t yet see them compete to their potential. Is that coaching, philosophy, scheme, I don’t know what but one time Glendora I would love to hear you say don’t eat turkey leftovers the day after Thanksgiving because you have a game to play tonight Tartans.
Well gentlemen, I’m happy you and yours are doing well and thank you so much for the therapeutic reading I miss the camaraderie.
Anymouse I won’t even talk to you because I have too much respect for your integrity because I remember what you went through and good for you that you have kept your word. Men, continue to fight the good fight.
Carry on!

Wasn’t Glendora co-champs one or both of those years he refers to instead of outright league champs? Can you or anyone clarify that as long as we are being correct?
Posted by: Feelin U | August 5, 2008 5:08 PM
jokin right. you're abslutely correct. I was talking about league. You're also correct that Glendora should have continued the series. I know the Trophy is in good hands. You were the better team. That game helped in the Upland game. So major props to CO. Like DHS and the beatings you take against them every year that game made Glendora better.
With the new divisions maybe we can both enjoy a Championship season. So far were both UNDEFEATED. lol. Best of luck and stay injury free.

Hey Mr. I hate mike the clone I have a chip on my shoulder cuz he is in my head and everywhere else he could possibly be
These are your words....
"Glendora goes UNDEFEATED AGAIN this year"
This statement is FACTUALLY incorrect because you didn’t
Your words correct?
Then you go on to say
"captures their second stragiht SIERRA LEAGUE"
The above statement is correct.
Again you look foolish with your remedial brain comprehension farts!
Now to make you look more foolish and to refresh your memory glendora did not go undefeated last year Can you repeat after me I LOST IN THE SECOND ROUND. So you came a couple of games short in your dream undefeated season.
Hope to see you guys when you want to make the trip to CO again and play us and dont get you so upset and pull out. Have fun watching us from your couch again in November.
Now may I suggest as some before me have already, go mount that mower and drive off into the sunset looking for that undefeated season you were talking about.

Fred this blog is beginning to look lke Monrovia on a Saturday night. No offense to Monrovia but you all get the point.
I'm sorry to see SGV GURU go because he was passionate about is work and had tremendous love of both the game and the kids. was he self serving? Who isn't when they start a business. Maybe he was all that people said he was but no one is without there faults or history. I think the point here is Bogan, who I admire, has faith in him. 'nuff said there. I seen GURU last year at a SH practice and you know he's there RIGHT AWAY! Too bad people (or one person) hated him so much. Maybe now that's he's off the blog those same people/person with those same issues will obviously get in direct contact with SH Administraion and Bogan himself....seeing as he's evil incarnate. That was a stick ugly mess and realy highlights the fraigile state of high school sports today.
Best of luck with the scouting service but I do have a question. Between Aram and SGV GURU...who had more actual playing or coaching experiece. For that matter how about Jim Lampley or Bob Costas? Or the GREAT Charlie Jones or Jim McKay or that rich idiot Jim Rome? Who I believe never wore a jock strap but KNOWS everything from NACAR to GOLF to WOMENSTENNIS to CHECKERS!
So Fred I have an idea that I will sponsor and pay for. A weekly video Pizza Party with guest commentators much like the SPORTSWRITERS and Rob Fukasaki's. It's a way to make the blog more "user friendly".
Get the colleges get some hands on exposure and behind the scene "work"..
Here's my list of supporing cast.
Kameron King, Reg, Fred, Steve, SGV GURU, and 2 guest bloggers. Once a week...carry it over year round. Would put SGV Sports on the map and give everyone a voice...WIN WIN. HELL YOU TUBE it.
Like most of my ideas, they are pretty good on paper....and like most of my Ideas it's "Kill the Messenger" so like I said if other's ahve better ideas or ways to iprove on the cocept feel free and contribute.
We could get an assistant coach HC have too many other duties and besides I LIKE assitant coaches better and they need a little love from time to time) to come in an diagram a big play or scheme that "BEAT THE ODDS" Co vs. Glendora last second game winnig play comes to mind.
The working title is "Breaking It Down... Pros vs Bros"
Bloggers, Fred, Fans and Players...give it some thought...OR...we could coninue tearing each other to shreds.
That's my "put up or shut up" way. Lead, Follow or GETOUT OF THE WAY!
Posted by: "BREAKING IT DOWN" | August 5, 2008 3:50 PM
jokin right,
if you think we only have kaluzny back you are crazy. we have our second leading rusher from last year andre holmes who had a fantastic game against upland in the playoffs last year and not to mention he is running behind cody tescher who was also a starter last year on the offensive line. bj gonzales is also coming back to catch passes from kaluzny and last years defensive player of the year in the sierra league chad young is coming back and so is erick meraz who started last year too. sounds to me like you my man need to check yourself loser
Posted by: go tartans | August 5, 2008 3:21 PM
who is this brother thinking that Glendora is going undfeated, my man check your self loser you have nobody coming back but quarterback kluzney have you seen the schedule
Upland
Etiwanda
West Covina
West Ranch (Valencia, CA) El Dorado
Diamond Bar
Damien
Chino Hills
Chino
Ayala
my guess your going 0-2 right from the start. 0-3 before your season starts after El Dorado. By then you better pull your pants back up because those cheeks will be awfully red from some of those ass whoopins yud betakin

Mke's Alter "ego" No. 1
Keep them coming Mike.
Do the one with the "french" accent...I love that one.
And Feeling U...that was Llyod Benson's line and while it did make for clever asides it didn't help where it counted. Benson, like you, lost in the court of public opinion!
Wait and as far a "buttonwearer" wasn't that one of Mike's clever "PUTDOWNS" of the Glendora community who "Didn't get it!!!". Never clear on 'GET IT" being Mike or Mike's "view of the world" also known as the MIKE VORTEX....the Glendora community is pulled in by the weight of his greatness...think BACK HOLE (light goes in but nothing comes out).
Oh Mikey, I miss you like I miss the BMOC syndrome that made high school so much fun, just like acne! A necessary evil.
What WILL be entertaining this year. now that Mike and his "glammrs" are back, is when Glendora goes UNDEFEATED AGAIN this year and captures their second stragiht SIERRA LEAGUE title....I sent Coach Pasquerella a brand new set of sideline head phones in PLAID and he donated them to Mike's conscience. OUCH!
Hey Mike how about when Coach Pasquerella went up in the bird to see that young QB for a couple of series SOMEHOW YOU THOUGHT THTA WAS A CREDIT TO YOUR COMMENTS, yeah right!...what was his name...oh yeah...you know he lead the team all year with precision throws, great leadership and clutch performances (and SHOULD have been the VALLEY POY and certainly the SIERRA MVP but I digress....his name is unimportant but I hear he's coming back this year and intends to succeed without your ridiculous comments. DOUBLE OUCH!
Oh Mike. Try and be nice this time around and check the BMOC sydrome.."I keep in constant contact with Aram'...plah lezzze!!!!"
TRIPLE OUCH!

5)consistently wrong about Pasy
6)always a BMOC looking for approval
7)gatekeeper of the blog
Might have to deliver the "I SURVIVED MIKE THE CLONE" buttons to the Glendora Booster Club seeing as football is around the corner. Hey Mike you were at your ALL TIME best when you got punked and create multiple alter ego to DEFEND you. THAT WAS ALL MIKE!!!! By the way what ecver hapened to all those "friends" of yours. Still playing with you in the basement breaking down high school film for the "boys". Wait that was even more pathetic. Boo hoo. As for Randy he was just one of your many detractors....we miss you Mikey. Now grow a set and talk footbal instead of telling everyone else what to think, how to think, what happened, what you beieved happened and finally APOLOGIZE TO COACH P FOR ALL THE STUPID THINGS YOU SAID ABOUT HIM ON "HIS" WAY TO COACH OF THE YEAR AND THE "TEAM'S" WAY TO AN UNDEFEATED LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Other than that Mike , welcome back and a little less with the "I often wonder" BS...everyone knows who you are and had the decency to never OUT you or salm your kid, maybe a little time away incleuded a slice or two of HUMBLE PIE.
Here's the lan Mike..it actuallt fits into your over inflated ego...a couple of HOOTER girls handing out
"I SURVIVED MIKE THE CLONE" T-SHIRTS AND BUTTONS...I could see it now Mike...even at Citrus College and that vast open space your still the biggest ATTRACTION.

Sadly, Coach Orgeron is now the *former* Ole Miss coach.

Joe Amat,
I read a book last year called "Meat Market". written by Espn's Bruce Feldman.
The book, published by ESPN Books, goes deep inside the mysterious world of recruiting and into the war room of Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron. The excerpt picks up right after national signing day 2006.
If you recall Ed Orgeron was a D-Line coach and recruiter for USC.
In the begining of the book it talks about him going to Los Altos and trying to convince Shaun Cody to play for USC. That was in it's down years.
If you want to get a good insight on recruiting. I recommend the book.
Fred,
I hope we can here some more from James(sgvscouting)

Let’s bring back some fond and maybe not so fond high school memories, anyone game?
How about a thread on the bloggers high school football team from their senior year? This is for the Parents, Coaches, Relatives or Casual contributor not currently in High School, your chance to gloat or not. How does their senior year high school team compare with the teams they promote today in attendance, excitement, quality of play, scores, etc.? What was their schools Record (wins/losses). Did they have a championship year (League/CIF/City for those from the L.A. City Section, list the school and year)? Who became a football star from your school/league? How many of your senior year players made the Pro’s?
Since there has been so much put down of present day coaches/players/schools/teams, maybe these bloggers can be ragged on about their own schools/teams etc. Turnaround is fair game after all, wouldn’t you say?
At least it would be a break from the same old thing while waiting for this dead period to end. Then we can see what the current high school students have to say about your school days.

Duarte has good players i promise it will not be 77-0. We dont have to go out and get players like the rest of the eastside school. We dont have the depth tho but we have the heart.

South Hills plays Duarte?!?!?
Damn! That was a bad move on the part of Duarte. I've seen both teams over the recent seasons. And wow!...
I'm seriously and Sincerely not being a hater, I mean I like what Crutchfield has done over there but my god Duarte is going to get the beating of a lifetime. Again I'm not hating really, but this going to be the equivalent of Amat vs. Monrovia or Los Altos vs. Rosemead(2 years 77-0 LA)or Charter Oak vs. Rio Hondo Prep.
Duarte is tiny!!

Judge Joe,
Joe you are correct I do read the blog but like you have just stayed away also. We had certain decorum in the beginning and we all adhered to it. We watched out for the blog and some of us (uh humm) walked right up to the line but never crossed the line. It was mutual respect for each one of us. It was all about what was going on between the lines not outside of them.
Do I miss it, yes but it is different now the banter is like two schoolyards kids’ name-calling dropping F-bombs left and right. Even with my battles with Randy as heated as they got, not once did it ever cross my mind to start dropping f-bombs or calling out his sexual preference like some of these “knuckleheads” do. Randy had an opinion and I had mine and it made for some great topics and it sure lit the blog up. And yes despite what some think I to this day respect Randy.
Judge, football and life and what the game meant to each and every one of us was what it was all it was about in the beginning. Guy’s like The Original Bleeds Blue and Gold, Joe Amat, Joe Colt, MAT, Randy, The Original Living Legend, Don, The Mighty Mouse, Joe Colt and yourself and a few I know I’m missing made it a blast for me. Yeah I miss those guys it was fun back then.
Funny story I was at the WALMART in Glendora about Christmas time last year and I was wearing a Glendora Football hat and this guy came up to me and say’s “how about those Tartans they had a great run”. I replied yes they sure did but some of the coaching decisions I just don’t get. He smiled and looked at me kind of funny and said “you sound like one of the guys on the Tribune blog” not even thinking about it I said “Some of those people just don’t GET IT ” he smiled with a puzzled look on his face and said “ Well it was a nice run I’ll see you next year at some of the games” I often wonder if he knew that he just had a run in with the great Mike the Clone and did he “GET IT” as he walked away he turned back to look at me as if to say something and I just smiled.
Judge Joe, business is good thanks for asking (knock on wood). Aram and I still keep in touch just to keep sharp throwing “smack” back and forth. He’s a big shot now at FOX sports and I’m always telling him to push for an “on air” gig next to Lindsay Soto. And I still think Nisha Gutierrez was the best thing the Tribune had going on besides the blog of course. My family is well in school and doing great.
So after this long-winded dissertation Judge it was great hearing from you hope all is well with you and yours. You were always one of the good guys and all of the others; you guys are all legends in my book, and yes Randy that includes you too.
Judge

5 and 0 and below them.....but i do like the west covina upset i must say.....

Judge,
I'm still around too and read regularly, but there hasn't been anything too interesting to blog on lately. I agree that all of the "drive-bys" (as jcaz calls them) have brought the discussion to a less than intelligent level, so they can just belch, fart and resort to bathroom insults to keep themselves entertained. I'm sure they'll learn a bunch that way.
I'm a bit disgusted that it drove James (sgvscouting) away-and rightly so. He was providing some great insight in updating us on what is going on in the recruiting world. What most don't understand is that most of those involved in that world are NOT football types, but more associated with the media, of which James used to be actively involved (and gave Amat some good write-ups in the past). I hope that FJR continues to share those insights from "his sources". They certainly are valid. Jamie...keep working!
The Wilson stuff is interesting and will work itself out. The camp they are partnering with during the dead-period seems to be a violation, but that is for CIF to sort out. The BlueBook is pretty clear, if it is a Wilson event only it's a "dead-period" and only weightlifting is allowed. If it's open, "...the High school name or nickname cannot be used in the title of the camp or used in the promotion of the camp." Straight from the book. "SpeedKills *partners* with the Wildcats during the dead period" sounds pretty straight forward. But that's the OC influence for you. If you're not cheating-you're not trying.
Passing league doesn't float my boat because 7 on 7 has always been less telling for teams that rely primarily on "I formation stuff" and rely on a lot of play-action. I read it's like playing over-the-line in baseball or 3-on-3 in basketball and projecting from that. Kinda agree.
We've got our new staff and players responding-but no sense in talking until they show that they are responding in pads on Fridays. No predictions, but I know that we have a plan, are working hard and will be prepared. Not much you can ask beyond that for now.
MTC, we miss you, and as you would say
OUT!

Here's a note to the whiney parents who constantly complained to coaches.
Players know which parents complain to the coaches about one thing or another. Guess what, it only makes your son a marked target for retaliation from his own teammates.
So think twice about the next time you "request" a private meeting with the coach to discuss your sons lack of playing time.

Mike the Clone,
I probably like yourself have never quit reading the blog but have chosen to stay away from posting also. Actually the last time I made any comments was when we bantered about FOOTBALL and LIFE!
I can honestly say I miss the golden years, the good old days with Aram and the boys but the difference was that's when men still acted like men and no matter how passionate any of us were about any topic we never strayed into the personal realm and even if someone did we never let them distract us from our focus and that was having a "take" and at the very worst agreeing to disagree but never would we abuse anyone personally.
There is no professionalism left on this blog anywhere from any walk of life and I wonder if this blog could ever go through a renaissance? I imagine by me posting this long rant that someone will not be able to resist the urge and I am going to get chastised soon enough. I dare everyone not to saying anything negative.
Anyways, I hope everything is going well with you and your family and during these difficult economic times your business is still thriving. I liked seeing your post so I thought I would grab onto the vine. Joe Amat was the only one still on here for a long time but they ran him off the blog too! No one else though unless I have missed someone.
Take Care,
Judge Joe Brown

Coach Hoyd is a full-time head coach in our area. Being blogged about comes with the territory. Having said that, I've deleted a lot of comments from the Hoyd thread, but people are allowed to have their opinions about him and his program, which I have discussed with Hoyd and he has no problems with. James on the other hand, volunteered himself, there's a difference.
Posted by: FredJ | August 4, 2008 11:31 AM
5) Greg Hoyd eliminates the Wilson booster club,
That is a great one, did you know that when he started at Wilson, the first thing he did was made new by-laws for the booster club. The way he worded the by-laws the principal and him have the final approval on everything. He is the liaison between the booster club and the administration (principal). If a member wants to attend a meeting they need to request approval at least one month in advance. The request needs to be approved by guess who the head coach, aka Hoyd. You need to ask Hoyd at least one month in advance for permission to attend a meeting? He also wrote in a clause that any chances to these by-laws wouldn't take affect until the 09/10 season.
It even gets better, you need to check out his website he is advertising a recruiting agency out of San Diego. The comment made by Hoyd on his website is “has helped Coach Hoyd over the past seven years placed his former players in college all over the US.” Two question Hoyd,
They are called San Diego Ballers and as stated on their website, San Diego area, are they expanding?
Next question, how did they place any of your former players in college being they are out of the San Diego area?
I checked their list of players and didn’t see one kid from any school that you coached at. Any one is welcome to check it out, see if you can find any of Hoyd’s kids on this list.

Posted by: bring him back | August 4, 2008 9:59 AM
Its about time, the so called Guru was taken off.
I was tried reading about a guy who has a past that is very questionable.
I don't think he had the backgorund to be on a thread or given the free space to promote his company.
If he wants to give his opinions, then it should be in the same gray space as everyone else.
Look forward to getting back to football and discussing the games.

Hope there won't be any repercussions from that.

Posted by: Mike the Clone | August 4, 2008 8:43 AM
Okay Fred it is understandable that the thread about the guru was taken off because of personal attacks. Some of those attacks were just wrong. But if that's the case, then get rid of the Hoyd thread as well where the personal attacks are just as bad if not worst. On second thought get rid of 80% of the threads on here because kids and coaches are constantly being bashed. As a matter of fact, you can get rid of this entire blog. I am not trying to be sarcastic, there are kids who play for free and coaches that work for pennies who are getting completely attacked for no good reason. This blog just shows the depravity of our society at times.
