Meet the Scouting Guru ...

We'll just call the Scouting Guru "Jimmy the E," who will be helping us throughout the season with his insight, particularly when it comes to scouting and recruiting. He's been undercover until now, but is ready to tell you all about himself ...

Hello everyone. My name is James Escarcega, I am the Director of Scouting for the SGV/IE Scouting Service. For the past eight seasons, I've been a varsity football coach in the area, the last five years at South Hills HS in charge of recruiting, strength and conditioning and scouting. Within that time, I've helped 11 players get to D-1 schools either as scholarship players or walk-on players. Also within that time, we've developed contacts within the west coast with D-1 schools as well as several D-2 schools. We are excited about this new venture and our collaboration with the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
To continue, click thread

The main reason why we have launched this service is that we love to help colleges get their best players in the area to a college playing football. The main goal of our service is to provide schools with game/evaluation film on players as well as get them as much information as possible on the player that they are recruiting. Unlike the coaches at the D-1A level, where they are held to constraints limited by the NCAA, we are under no such umbrella. We get to go to as many events as possible. We get to talk to players, coaches as much as possible. And we still get to enjoy the game of football with as much passion as the players and the coaches in the area.

Our goal is to be the main information base for colleges that are interested in recruiting the San Gabriel Valley (the east side only) and the Inland Empire. Since their was a feeling amongst many colleges on the west coast that they would utilize a service such as what we are doing, we decided to take the ball and run with it. Right now, we have 25 colleges that have subscribed to our service, and we are hoping for more at this time next year. Since we are the eyes and ears for the colleges, our cardinal rule is that we DO NOT TAKE A PENNY FROM A PARENT. As the late Branch Rickey once said, "The job of a scout is to find the talent and put a dollar sign behind it." That is what we are all about. It's the job of the high school coaches to give a university the information regarding their scholastic situation, but our job is to find the talent and make the colleges aware of it.

I don't like talking about myself and do a lot of self-promoting. This is about football and the players in the area. All I can tell you is that if UCLA and USC pay us to be their eyes and ears in the area, we feel very confident in our ability to find players that can play football at the D-1 level. Now, I don't mind if you have a critical eye, but if I feel that the tone of the conversation on this blog is getting out of hand, we have no problem just working with the colleges and keeping our thoughts to ourselves. I am doing this as a favor to Fred Robledo because of our lifelong friendship. I've had the pleasure to work with Fred in the past and he's about as good as it gets. He's that good of a friend. I was also extremely pleased to see that Miguel Melendez will be working the Pasadena Star-News. He'll do a fabulous job on the other side of town.

If you have any questions about players in the area and you want to ask us privately, you can email us at sgvierecruiting@gmail.com. We will be more than happy to give you any information that you may need. This is a labor of love for us. I love watching football and finding the golden nugget that hopefully will shine in college. High School Football in the San Gabriel Valley has a tremendous history and right now it's enjoying a popularity level unmatched by any other sport. There is one reason for it; that is because of people like you. Your passion for the game shows up (maybe a little too much on this blog) every time I log on this site. Remember, it's only a game and they are people that are in true battle overseas right now than what we are doing.

Our respect for the coaches in the area is unmatched. I've been very fortunate to work for Steve Bogan this the last five years at South Hills and I can safely tell all of you that he deserves to be coaching at the D-1 level. He has a mind that is unmatched of anyone that I've worked with. He knows his stuff and he could go down as the "Coach of the Decade" in the SGV when we are done in 2009. Lou Farrar at Charter Oak has earned the right to be listed as one of the top coaches of all-time in the SGV. His resume is unmatched and more than that, I am proud to call him a friend. Hopefully, his son Dominic will get the right to be the HC at CO when the bell sounds for his calling. Scott Morrison does an excellent job at Damien and I am proud to call Diamond Bar HC John Martin "a true friend." Mike Maggiore at West Covina (who was very emphatic in helping me make my decision to go with this project) is another that I am very lucky to call a "very good friend" and Steve Hagerty at Bishop Amat is an Amat man through and through. I look forward to working with him on a consistent basis. Diamond Ranch's Roddy Layton kiddingly calls me "Nostradamus" sometimes, but we call him a friend as well.

There are other coaches though in the SGV that I really respect. Jim Singiser at Arroyo HS is a coach that I could work very easily. When you look up the definition of what a man is supposed to be, Singiser's name is one that I can put in there real easily. Ray Hernandez at La Puente is getting the ball rolling over there and he'll do just fine. The point is, we love dealing with HC's and assistants in the area and that is one of the true joy's of this job.

I am also very happy to announce that you'll be able to hear yours truly every Friday night during the football season. I will be a contributor to the High School Football Scoreboard show that will be on ESPN 710 this fall from 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. with scores and impressions from games in the SGV and the IE. My buddy Garry Paskiwetz of wearesc.com and Fox Sports Prime Ticket will be host of the show. When he asked me this summer if I would do it, I jumped on the opportunity knowing that we wanted to get players and teams from the area exposed on a regional basis. I will also, from time to time, do the "No Huddle" with Fred and break down some of the big games in the area. Our stuff is also being used by the Los Angeles Times and Student Sports Magazine.

But, want to provide you the reader with the freshest and accurate information when it comes to recruiting and that is what we'll do from time to time on this site. You may not like what we say from time to time, but at least we'll come in with "a take." Right now, we have just started our vacation (and within the time we will be visiting colleges on "business" trips) so, if you drop us a line, please be patient, as our batteries are being recharged. But, we are looking forward to the 2008 football season and hope to see you in the stands, on the sideline, at practice and all points in between. Good luck to everyone in the area this year. I am really looking forward to the upcoming season.

Fred

I realy believe that it was a mistake to have come out with this fellows name.

To tell you the truth, I thought it was fun for a while, reading all the things that he said about all the players and all the programs when he was anoymous.

It seemed to me to be, a more intersting read that way.

Now however, everyone is taking shots at coach James, and his credibility is a big question mark.

Perhaps you guys should have given this idea a little bit more thought before you came out with it ?

All I can say is my kid is highly recruited and I have witnessed coaches at USC and UCLA thank him for information on kids they might not of "heard" of. If he is getting kids names out there let it be. Or maybe there are issues because your kid is not listed or talked about regularly??? Unfortunately everyone is not college material as much as we would like them to be.

I don't know if I would say Bogan is a good judge of character. does anybody remember coach PETE?

Mr. James:

You are in no position to speak for every coach in this valley. Don’t even attempt to make that statement, because our head coach doesn’t endorse you at all.

There is so much wrong with this thread, that it brought out the old timers to speak up!

ha ha ha! funny you say that about the "been brothers".

You should've been allegedly caught...
You could've been...

I am not the pretender here. You are. The only thing you know how to do is fabricate, seeing how people have posted that you were a water boy. Besides the alledged criminal activity you might have been involved in, its nice to see you try to snowball the whole SGV! My last words are......YOU ARE A LOSER!!!!

By the way, his nickname on the racetrack was Magilla Gorilla!

What a disappointment, was looking forward to seeing some of the kids who were getting recruited in the SGV.

But, like anything else, the select few have to ruin it for everyone. After reading some of the comments, one could only hope your sons and daughters do not play any type of organized sports. I've seen parents like yourselves, bitching and moaning to the coaches, other parents and anyone else who will listen. Absolutely pathetic!

And yes...I will agree with what every coach in the SGV says about this blog...IT IS WAY TOO OUT OF HAND! I was hoping that it would not be that way...that many of you would be a little more mature, but, boy was I wrong....

Maybe some of you belong in what Coach Bogan would call in the family of the "Been Brothers."

I could've been...
I should've been...
yada, yada, yada...

It's terrible that maturity has failed to taken some of you...Sorry

keep running jimmy, sooner or later, karma will come and bite you when you least expect it.

Just what I feared...people not knowing the situation...going way out of hand here...just so that you can get your kicks and feel good about yourself..so, let's just go with this...a lot of you have just ruined it. I am tired of it and I will not stand for it...

We will do a very limited posting on here...If you have any questions regarding any players, you are more than welcome to drop me an email and I will be more than happy to respond...

My energy is being sapped by people that can't put a name to an blog posting, so hey, why waste my time with a lot of you, when I can be spending more time working to getting our service a lot better.

So for now, it's goodbye and I hope to see you this season!

FredJ,

Why such a fascination and fixation with South Hills and Coach Bogan? Your partiality and subjectivity at this point in my opinion has gone too far. I am not saying I disagree with the advocacy because I obviously personally feel the same way towards South Hills as you do but tread lightly or at least do some investigating reporting before you make some of these posts.

If I could give you any advice and please listen to me, be extremely cautious and careful with this entire situation because there is so much more at risk here than just your creditability and respect and that is also the reputation of a school, program, and coach.

If you have the kind of relationship with Coach Bogan that you project than you better get him involved in this process before you go any further.

I understand Coach Bogan too having played and coached for the him and I guarantee you he is NOT happy. Please get him involved a.s.a.p.!

He allegedly commit credit card fraud against someone. He was allegedly on the lamb, all of a sudden he shows himself again. Again this is a alleged claim, that unfortunately will never be resolved because of the statue of limitations.

concerned parent, what exactly did James do? im sure everyone wants to know. well, i do at least haha

that would explain, why he resurfaced in a open forum. No way he can be held accountable for what he did. What a shame.

concerned parent | August 3, 2008 4:24 PM

Generaly ranges from 2-6 years, depending upon the circumstances.

LA LAW - you can't be more right. James knows nothing about the laws. Lets just say he attempted to break into the horse racing industry, only to leave with his tail between his legs. I wonder if Freddy knows about this. It is funny that he is trying to sweep under the rug what he allegedly did and how he was on the run. Ooops! Did I say something that I should not have. Thats right folks, what we are missing here is the fact that Jimmy the E allegedly slipped through the cracks of the LE (law enforcement). I wonder if Freddy is aware of what he did. Again, I ask you Fred, are you blind to what he did to someone, or just don't care what he did to them. If he doesn't then what does that say about the prep editor? Its nice to see you should yourself again, Jimmy, you are a coward.

LA LAW answer me a question, the sgv scout has allegedly done some fraud is there a statue of limitation? Just wondering.

Fred,

I just had to come out of my self imposed retirement in the basement to drop my "two cents" in for what it's worth.

I see this thread opening a whole can of worms and my first impression is that this is going to be ugly over at South Hills with "Jimmy E" having ties to that program. Now if it was just some guy that is a friend of yours then great I don't see a problem. Having the ties he does to the South Hills program eeeeeehhhhh Just doesn't sit well with me for some reason.

Just a gut feeling I have.

The reason I say that is when I see of the "oldtimers" here posting and raising more and more questions I know something is amiss somewhere. And I'm not talking about the "knuckleheads" that just blast away at this guy.

But what do I know!

And Hi to all my old buddies here, You guys are all legends!

I AM OUT!

GOODNIGHT NOW!

Mike the Clone

Mr. James

>We felt that the academic part of the game should be handled by the that school's HC, so we really don't pursue that angle. But, if there is word that a kid has an possible academic issue, we just tell the college to talk to the HC about that prospect's academic situation.<

First of all, you should omit discussing anything when it comes to academic eligibility. You are not licensed or contracted to do that with a prospective athlete. The NCAA Clearinghouse makes the rules very clear.

Secondly, you DO NOT represent the student/athlete unless you are contacted to do so by a parent.
So, I would tread very carefully with your comments, because you can be held accountable and given this form is public information, it can be used as evidence.

I would suggest you take a few courses in business law before you start acting on a minor(s) behalf without signed legal documents to support your position.

Burma Shave

It's one thing to declare all that you know and something completely different to declare you know all.

Better to be known less by what you say than what you leave unsaid.

It is worse still to be ignorant of your ignorance.

If you want to taste your football appetites, this week marks the first week of practice at USC and UCLA. If you go to www.uscripsit.com, you'll be able to download a schedule and watch practice for free. If you have never experienced a USC practice, it's worth calling in sick in the middle of the week and checking it out. You will not be disappointed.

UCLA starts today and they are also allowing free admission. I will be there on Tuesday to take in both practices. I am really interested to see how Camp Neuhesiel is different from Camp Carroll.

I will be sending Fred a blog entry with all the updates of what is happening with former SGV players that are playing at the college level this season and where they are at on their depth charts.

Let's make one thing clear. We provide the information to the colleges on a daily basis. One of the things that seperates us for the rest is that we offer text updates on guys that get offered by other schools.

Now, that may not sound big, but a college would like to know if a kid as been offered or has given an oral commitment to a school. At this time of year, they are game-planning, going through two a days and to have someone verify what is going on their recruiting area is huge.

We also provide them with highlight tapes and whole game vootage. We felt that the academic part of the game should be handled by the that school's HC, so we really don't pursue that angle. But, if there is word that a kid has an possible academic issue, we just tell the college to talk to the HC about that prospect's academic situation.

That is basically what we do.

Fred you do understand that by outting your very own "deepthroat" that you put this guy up for this scrutiny! You do understand that right? I mean I understand if you dont cause you normally dont understand much

The reason that we try to move along to different subjects is that we want to talk football. So let's try this again...hey sometimes when we are on vacation, we are still working...

Right now, I'm putting together the schedule for games that colleges are going to film on for next year...It never ends.

We plan on being in the SGV for the last week in September. Should be a great week of football. We'll be at the Rancho Cucamonga vs. Charter Oak, Damien vs. Bishop Amat and then on Satruday night at Citrus College, West Covina vs. Glendora.

We are just now working on the October schedule and by the end of next week, November will be completed.

But that last week in September really caught my eye the other night...

All of you so-called South Hills insiders criticizing him just take cheap shots, that's it, and as usual, you offer nothing of substance. And good for James, because he hasn't taken any of your bait. Why don't you judge him on his work, on his evaluations, and tell us why you agree or disagree with his assessments. Or, maybe that would take a little homework or research on your part, so it's easier to go back to the cheap shots.

It's still amazing how bent out of shape some of you get over using James' evaluations. That's all it is, food for thought, perfect blog chatter. And to those of you who want to roast him personally, consider he is a good friend of Steve Bogan, whom most of you will agree is probably a pretty good judge of character. Plus I've worked with him and I know he's a little different, but he's harmless and a very enthusiastic person. Get over it.

Has SHHS kicked this guy off campus yet?

What steps are they taking to make sure he doesn't act on the district behalf?

sgv scouting | August 2, 2008 9:15 PM

You are not the gate keeper of this blog. If you can't handle the heat, then get off the blog.

Some of us at SH, know the truth about you James, and you're a complete joke.

You have misrepresented yourself here at SH for years and now it finally come out..

For a guy being on vacation, you're sure posting alot lately!

Hey Fred,
You need to do your homework before you personally condone "Coach James" and his scouting service. You are putting your own reputation at risk. Being on campus at SHHS has allowed all of us at SH to view first hand what "Coach James" really does. Firstly, he was never employed by the school or District which means that he cannot legally look at student transcripts according to the California Ed. Code but he did. Secondly, "Coach James" does not have a college degree or training of any sort which he flew by the seat of his pants in advising "student athletes" about which classes to take at South Hills for college. Parents are absolutely foolish to let him be their guidance counselor. Thirdly, his behavior on campus and on the field was outright embarrassing. Attempting to pull kids out of classes to talk to them as a non campus employee was always a problem. Teachers would simply say "no". His conflicts and arguments on the field with other coaches was always in poor taste with actions and language To think that any college would abandon their own scouting and recruiting for this guy is unthinkable. All one has to do is to have one conversation with "Coach James" to understand why people feel the way they do about his situation at SHHS.

To SGV scouting I know ivy league football and to call Dartmouth an ivy league power is way off. Dartmouth was 3-7 last year and for the past 10 years has been one of the worst football programs in the ivy leagues. The present powers are Harvard,Yale, and in recent years U Penn and Princeton.

doesa anybody have anything nice to say about coach waterboy....nah I thought so, once again, short bus freedie has got his teat in the ringer with his semi-protege, did you all ride the same short bus to school? lmfao

are you working hard for the debate tean people, getting them rides? you're a joke, please be honest with yourself first off and then the bloggers,readers.................. freedie boy, stevie wqonderboy, y'all need to get a clue

next thing you know, coach lukwarm waterboy is gonna tell us, he's a power broker and his waterboy understudies will go, only where the water flows free and easy, like a faucet from heaven, still lmfao.............at the tribune and how stupid freedie is to try and push this self promoter on us.....it ain't working .....homie!!

yeah tell us about the horses. wilburrrrrrrr

is he even tall enough to drive a car or go on the big rides at Disneyland? just wondering...........waterman, did you ride the short bus to school? and yes I do want fries with my order, lmfao again and again

"coach" and I use that term very loosely.....did adam sandler play your character in the movie waterboy? lmfao...........at coach waterboy, freedie the willing sidekick, accomplice and the trib as a whole..............LOSERS

coah tattoo..............what a frigging joke the tribe is, the B O trio, I can't take anything written in your rag as worth a damm.........y'all suck

Jimmy, are you telling us , that from your position as coach waterboy you've uncovered these gems for schools...............lmfao............get real you're a poseur, plain and simple.....find a gem in New Mexico,Nevada,Idaho,Montana......better yet, take a Midol(extra strength and call in sick for a week, then quit)

Geez, I love how you sweep it under the rug. Should I out you completely. I am sure many people want to know who they are dealing with. I know I do. Sad to know they let FRAUDS like you take over a blog for personal gain. Its ashamed you act like you know whats happening. You tried to pawn yourself off as someone who knows horses and now you are doing as someone trying to be a "scout". Why don't you tell people the truth? Whats so hard about coming clean. Trust me the truth will set you free!!!! I know sooner or later the truth will get out about what happened at the track. I am sure others will help me set the record straight.

James, you hit the nail on the head. Boise St. evaluates talent extremely well, they also develop players extremely well once they get there. They will pass on a 4 or 5 star player, for a kid who may have been overlooked i,e (Ian Johnson & Ryan Clady both 2 stars out of high school).

You mentioned CB's, BSU lost a great one, Scandrick from Los Al, who left early and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 5th round.

I think BSU will start pressing a little harder for So. Cal recruits very soon, half their roster is from California, so they obviously have had success.

Their are always a school that is fun to watch through the recruiting period. They took a chance on Ian Johnson when no one else would and the next thing you know it, he's scoring the winning TD against Oklahoma. And he will be a second day NFL Draft pick next year. And no one thought highly of Ryan Clady when he came out of high school. Now, he's laughing all the way to the bank...

They don't go for the 5-star or 4-star athletes, they go for kids that fit their program. They evaluate talent very well.

Marvray? Interesting, I knew they offered Sutton & Pascarella from CC, but Marvray comes as a surprise (maybe cause Dominique Vinson formerly of Edison HB) just left the team last week. As far as qb goes, they have a great one who will play this year (Moore) and picked up a verbal from Southwick already.

BSU has been doing very well against alot of PAC 10 schools this year, receruiting wise. They have also been recruiting Texas and Arizona very hard, and it's been paying off.

Right now, BSU has 10 commitments and the one that we caught our was Tesoro's John Michael Davis. He is a legitimate stud...

I apologize, but Boise St. has also offered CC's Offensive Left Tackle Pascarella and J.W. North's Lester White.

Pascarella has a huge upside and his tape is pretty darn good. He has the wingspan to be a offensive left tackle, we just thought he needed to bulk up a bit. But, from a technique point of view, he is very sound. SH fans should enjoy watching him going up against Barrios in their scrimmage.

White has gained a lot of momentum lately. He just got offered by Oregon State the other day...we hear that academics are going to go a long way in determining whether he'll make it or not. But, one of the top safeties in the IE...no question about it...

Funny you should ask about Boise St...had a nice conversation with them the other day. Right now from the information that we have, the Broncos have offered CC's Marvray and Sutton. They did offer both Brehaut and Nunes, but they lost out on both of them. I don't see them getting into the Sermons sweepstakes just because they tend to fail on the losing end of those types of battle late in the year. I can see them possibly coming late on a kid like Seals and maybe Deen. They are looking closely at taking a second quarterback. I can also see them offering Corona Santiago CB Martin late if he has good film early this season. Colleges are always looking for quality corners. You can find linebackers, running backs, offensive lineman. But the two most highly conveted positions are QB and CB. Just look at this past NFL Draft.

As far as the SH kids are concerned, most of the players you have listed are the right players that are getting looked at. The only other player that has made a nice impression this summer is Bowden. He's hurt though, but should be an impact player when he hits the field.

James since u have some inside from south hills who are some sleepers we can look for? we all know about Umodu, Deen, Vaughns, Olsen, Barrios, Goss, and Bevel who else should we watch for?

Good to have you onboard James!

I'm shocked by some of these parents / posters comments, if you don't like it, then go somewhere else for recruiting information on the local players in the SGV.

James, do you know of any players Boise St. has offered or is looking at? They're on a couple Corona Centennial players, how about any in the SGV?

We've received a few email asking about the Sermons situation. Right now, Sermons hold all the cards.

He has offers from eight of the schools in the Pac-10 and we just don't see a decision anytime in the near future.

With Cal getting a commitment from CB Samuels of Lynwood, and Oregon State offering Corona Santiago Sean Martin on Friday, Sermons clearly is in the drivers seat here. He has mentioned in several interviews that he wants to take his visits, so it'll be interesting to see where he visits.

If there is a game to watch on opening week, it's Diamond Ranch vs. Colony. Sermons will most likely be lined up against Colony's super-junior WR Scott (who we feel has all the tools to be a elite D-1 WR for the school) and it will be a match that will be fun to watch.

SH's Deen will most likely get offered in the fall. His big game will be against La Habra and a big performance on that night will go a long way in his recruiting.

And looks for CO's Muema, WC's Johnson and SH's Umodu to get a lot of attention early by colleges. They are the players that we are getting the most call on to get early film to school on late September.

If you have any other questions on players, we'll be or than happy to let you know what we know.

Now, to more pleasant news. I got word today that Bishop Amat's Brent Seals just got an offer from Ivy League power Dartmouth. I can tell you that Dartmouth has been really interested in Brent and we are not surprised by the offer.

Now, his senior film is going to be huge if any of the WAC or Mountain West conference schools offer the kid. The Pac-10 might...we'll see what happens. He is our foruth ranked player on our board behind teammate Price, SH's Deen and DRs Sermons.

Having met Seals and his family, they are great people and we are extremely happy that he received the good news. Hopefully, he'll get more offers when the fall arrives...

Concerned parent, I will just say that if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it. If this keeps up, the people who really are interested in football will be the people that are hurt.

Remember, the Trib pays me nothing. I do this because Fred is a good friend of mine. I guess I can count on you not being on the listeners on Friday night.

Look it, I will say this once and for all, the personal shots have to go. I neither have the time nor the energy for it. Hey, if you don't like what you read, it's like listening to radio or watching TV, you can always change it or not blog in.

Nice mention of Kngihts Head Coach Jim Singiser at Arroyo HS. We are proud of the success we've had on the football field. GO KNIGHTS GO! BLUE PRIDE!

We'll the truth finally came out.

What a shame that the tribune has endorsed this bum to write about our community. Just maybe James is on someone's payroll here?

James, you tell everyone you don't and never will take money from families or players.

Interesting side bar? The reports you submit relate to whom? Yes James the kids that you exploit to get paid by whom? Maybe the colleges are playing you, but surely you’re using the kids for your personal gain AND with no proven RESUME!!!!!!

All these years living at home with MOMMY hasn’t taught you much. How many days have you taken that walk down Barranca from the bus stop wondering how can I make money off Bogan or the SGV community.

You’re a sad example of a scout. If you were a real scout and really cared about the kids, you take no money – PRO BONO

Hey Charger Spy go for it. cuz over here us huskies know whose been recruited. u got 3 transfers is it? all that were varsity players? and y is it that the rufus kid who is a cuzin of a husky going to leave and go to a rival school right down the street? recruit much?

da plane boss, da planeeeeeeeeee

Hey coach James I thought schools are not allowed to recruit. C.I.F. rules prohibit that! Are you sure that this isn't coach Gano and you are one of his personalities. I thought he was the only coach that recruited. He recruited the Brown brothers and Peter Suarez away from Bassett high school with the help of Gilbert Diaz(Bassett head football coach) at the time. Wow! I didn't know that open enrollment meant recruiting. I'd better give this important information to Big Lou over at Charter Oak!

No James lets talk about you.

Ladies and Gentlemen its obvious that Jimmy is a fraud. Lets just say sometime ago, James attempted to get into the horse racing game and was basically run out for some SHADY behavior. Actually no it wasn't shady, he allegedly committed fraud on individua. Remember I said allegedly. Yup, its amazing how people like this continue to circulate. Crazy huh!

Coach, he never was. I am making phone calls to all the folks he states he has associated with. If they did, these are the coaches are teaching your children morals and life experiences.

Should I continue.

Before you say the past is the past, remember that you are representing these kids to colleges.

I am also sure Garry P and ESPN 710 don't know your track record.

Freddy was doing his homework on this guy wasn't he? They are good friends, so this should not come as a shock to him. It is incredible that this guy is now trying to prove he is a scout. Please!!!! He couldn't even figure out horse flesh, you expect him to figure out football players. Geez, this is truly a joke.

NO WONDER SOUTH HILSS BEEN GETTING MORE LOVE THEN ANYONE IN EVERY RANKING!

Hey...enough about me. I want to talk football. Even though I am on vacation right now, I still love to talk football. I know that there are some sophomore that I am missing, so if you feel there is a player that we need to watch, drop his name in so that we go to their school's practice, we can keep a good eye for him.

We are just about one month away from the season and it should be a great one in the area.

alright so let me put it straight for every individual that has a negative impression of coach james since i am a former athlete at south hills highschool and now a college athlete....he may have started doing the grunt work like getting the water or calling the stretches , but the one thing you can't disrespet is the fact that this guy does his homework , for example alot of the workouts we did when i was there were from USC and alot of the players would stay after to work out with coach james , me in perticular , as a matter of fact he was one of the more motivating coaches i have ever had on any level , and he does his homework as a scout lets not call him a water boy because that what he started off doing how about everone acknowlages the fact that he worked his butt off to become something and he learned what to look for how to look for it why it was good or why it was bad , if anything this man deserve a high amount of respect because i promise you he has more heart passion and desire then any person to have commented him negativley in this blog you all should be ashamed of yourself.....even i wish i had the drive that this guy has....if anything people should envy him.....good luck COACH JAMES(HI-MEE)

......enough said

one last add, is it me or does he look like tatto, from fantasy island, he does have a lisp!! guru.if you wanna tell me how good you are at what you do, go to Idaho,Montana,Canada and get some of those guys exposure, there are a lot of ball players up there who fall thru the cracks, here you're 30 minutes from 2 pac-10 schools have all the camps and summer touch football? leagues, you're nothing more than PT Barnum, sending out stat sheets, the only clue you have is the pet hamster you bought !

guru, lmfao! this guy is nothing more than a p.r. stunt, just make sure you don't spiil the water on my shoes when I officiate SH's games this fall, I hate that! so guru, starts his own "service" scouting, sending tapes, etc. etc while he's the strength, waterboy coach at SH, no he's not biased, probably gets postage from his "clients" for his service, just another homer/honkie........freddyboy,stevieboy,waterboy...hughie,dewie,louie.............too much... .and the tribune is in danger of folding? why? how could that be? lmfao again

cson,

Seems like you have a pair of numb nuts, add the one on top of your shoulders and that makes three. If you look at what guru wrote, the impression given was that he recruits for the school. If you bother to read thru the entire thread, I later wrote that it was just a joke, I have nothing against SH, calm down.

Wow!!! this paper really needs to learn how to do background checks on people.

This guy has a history. Thats all I got to say.

Its amazing that he is going to put your future kids history in his hands by writing a scouting report.

bleeds blue and gold, you numb nut, When James says that he recruits at SH im sure he is talking about getting kids in contact with colleges not recruiting for the high school. Good luck James, hope you can help out the local talent.

This is par for the course with the trib, writers who cover the sport yet never played a down and now this. This guy might be a guru with curling doughnuts and beer but football, NOT!

I'm not sure that the job of a scout is to coach... In fact, I'm sure it's not. The job of a scout is to recognize, evaluate, and publicize talent based on a set of athletic criteria. If this man has contacts, which it sounds like he does, then he fits the bill as a scout. The fact that he works or worked at south hills doesn't mean he isn't in tune with or have the pulse of high school football in the entire san gabriel valley. When I initially saw his picture, I too recognized him as the "waterboy" for sh. I now, however, have a deeper respect for what he is bringing to the student-athletes of san gabriel valley and I applaud him. People, the san gabriel valley is more and more talent deprived with each passing year. We should be happy someone is getting our kids' names out there. Again, I applaud you guru. Keep up the fight for our kids.

Stop hating on the Guru. Don't be jealous because he has the job all of you think you are qualified to do. Why are you knocking someone who is only helping our players in the SGV. Keep up the good work Guru.

not sure if i agree with everything the scouting guru does or doesnt do but i give the guy credit it takes balls to put you picture up on this thing knowing your gonna get bashed most of us (including me haha) wouldnt post if we had to show our face

let the guru live on

This is too funny>>

When was the last time you saw a strength and conditioning coach that looked like this dude! Nice traps, his chest is huge, and his arms look pumped.

"Jimmy the E"?

HIS MOMMA SAID

HIS MOMMA SAID

HIS MOMMA SAID

ISN'T HE THE WATER SLASH DOWN AND DISTANCE GUY FROM SOUTH HILLS?

I NEVER SAW HIS COACH ONE POSITION

SOOOOOOO THATS HOW SOUTH HILLS GETS ALL THOSE PLAYERS AND THE RUMORS KEEP SURROUNDING THAT PROIGRAM.

HEY SGVTRIBUNE I KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS ACTUALLY STEPPED ON A FIELD BEFORE THAT CAN GIVE THERE OPINIONS.

HOW MUCH DOES THIS GIG PAY?

I am a guru when it comes to shoveling the bull sh**. when do i get my own blog?

Hey if this guy can get the names out, for the top San Gabriel valley players more power two him. Nothing like a free hundred thousand dollar education!

Fred

It’s not a matter of cheap shots, rather facts about his knowledge, creditability and experience to PROVIDE the correct and viable info. This guy should only be allowed to post under the comment section like everybody else. If not, he acting as a tribune employee endorsed by you or Steve Hunt. Total crap because he has ZERO experience and has never coach a down of football here at SH. And now he’s labeled by you as a GURU and you let him post threads about kids in this community. What if he wrong with his assessments? Who takes the heat? Does it affect the kid?

Guru needs to come clean and tell the truth, not side step the facts..

Water Boy, Water Boy. Sorry dude, you know and everyone who knows you knows you aren't and were never a coach.

You got that right!!!!!!

nowadays, coaches don't recruit kids, kids recruit schools...

Uh, it was a joke.

We all know Bogan does the actual recruiting.

As usual, the bloggers in here do what they do best, take cheap shots.

Just so that we can clarify, I was in charge of college recruiting. In eight years, I've never attended a youth football game. Sorry for the misunderstanding...

SH Parent, easy there, he's just providing info..

Wow, everyone in the know knew it was him. Some bloggers were calling him Coach James.

Ask anyone at SH about this water boy.

Coach James, did you promote or give yourself a title at SH? Be honest!

What positions did you coach? What coaching experience do you really have?

Strength and conditioning? Are you even certified? If so, what degrees or certs?

Come on man, this is truly ridiculous for you to be calling yourself a guru.

Maybe a football fan and a guy who likes football, but anybody can give opinions.

beats amat recuits any day of the week

lol!!

HAH! I KNEW IT! South Hills recruits!!!
