Northview first out of the gate

Over the next two weeks we'll visit football camps and do video interviews with coaches and players. My first stop is at Northview on Wednedsday to check out QB Oscar Robles and the dangerous duo of receivers Kevin Jones and Anthony Farmer. The Vikes are getting ready for their Sept., 11 opener against Los Altos at the District Field. I love it, it's a Thursday night, so I'm expecting the Valley to fill out the stands. On Friday the Trib Train heads over to Bonita.

Hey Fred what happen to the preview of the Vikings? I thought you were going out to practice? Have you made it out there yet?

lets just wait till the lights turn on hell yeah

Or it proves that Northview "recognizes" coaching talent...EARLY AND OFTEN

EITHER WAY CONGRATS TO NORTHVIEW

it also proves that all those coaches left for BETTER jobs!

husky,
he also just proved that all the Northview football program is in reality is a mere STEPPING STONE!!
Nothing more.

Step to the big boys prepare for a dose of reality!

Arrelenos all u just proved is that the Vikings cant win a big game.

1). Yes, Northview High School was the first ever team to beat Los Altos High School for a CIF Championship in 1987

2.) Since 1997 Northview has finished the football season in the top ten rankings of the SGV tribune every year except for the 2000 and 2006 season's!

3.) "This is the best team Northview has had in a decade"... Really? (past 11 years)

1997 CIF Rank: #4
Post season: Semifinalist Lost to: Laguna Hills
1997 CIF champs: Laguna Hills

2001 CIF Rank: #6
Post season: Quarter final
Lost to: Brea Olinda
2001 CIF Champs: Brea Olinda

2002 CIF Rank: #2
Post season: Quarter final
Lost to: La Habra (3OT)
2002 CIF Champs: La Habra

2003 CIF Rank: #6
Post season: Quarter final
Lost to: Tesoro (Mission Viejo)
2003 CIF Champs: Tesoro

There is something to be proud of Northview...

Viking Pride!

FYI:
Mark Pasquarella (Glendora)
Greg Gano (Los Altos)
Eric Podley (Bonita)
Bill Zernickow (San Dimas)

Were all Head Coaches for the Northview Vikings!

Donkey Show...is that you agian ?

Are you still trying to act like a grown up ?

I read it as a list. SH, CO, DR then a gap... with Muir at the top of the next group. it looks like the recently released Southeast poll reflects that too. as you said, we'll see.

reality czech,

First of all, I read Don's post as saying that Muir was on a seperate "tier" or level from SH, CO, and DR and that they were on the same "tier" or level as WC, Bonita, CalHi, and Schurr.

And yes, I ABSOLUTELY disagree with that. Do YOU agree with that assessment?

But as many others keep stressing, we'll find out...REAL SOON!!!

no one should listen to reality donk. he is from amat and everyone on this blog knows that amat people have zero brains

i do agree this is getting out of hand people and i never said that we have the best and there better then any one elses backers lol all i said was they should have a good season!!! and i think they're capable of being in the top dont get your panties all in a bunch
GO vikes!!!!!!

c721t

We have the best Linebackers in the world!

Take a chill pill people. This is HS Football. This Blog is getting out of control!

Enoch Burrola

You might want to listn to Reality Czech.
I'm sure you have a lot of faith in your linebackers. but let me assure you its not a good idea to start talking smack when you have NO IDEA of the capabilities of the SH Linebackers Bowden & Goss or DE Barrios for that matter. You will only piss them off. This trio has left people unconcious on the field from Rancho C to the OC. You might want to take a breath first before you speak.

I would have to agree with reality czech

NV backers may not even be in the top ten. check out Freds list below with Perri, Seals Bowens, Goss, Bowden, etc.they might not crack the starting lineup at South Hills or Bishop Amat.

I do agree northview does have the top 3 backers but Vargas and A-Rod(middle backers)should have a very good year what do you think?
GO VIKES!!!!!!

northview has the top three backers in the valley

Freddy!!

What do you have on Northview? Did you ever make it to their practice?

Little GIRLS,

Time will play out! Quit blabbing until week three.

Stanger, the way I read it Don said that Muir is a notch below South Hills, Charter Oak, and Diamond Ranch-yet ahead of West Covina, CalHi, La Serna, Bonita and Schurr.
Do you disagree with that?

Damien is better than San Dimas, South Elmonte, and Northview. They are just a level above. Don't forget about the Spartans. The play "real teams." Also West Covina is better. Northview should beat teams like Diamond Bar before they get excited. Baby steps.

Don,

Boy I tell you.....zero week can't come fast enough!!! You really believe Muir is in the tier that includes WC, Bonita, Schurr, and CalHi??? W-o-w......

And I'M the one that gets accused of talking smack. That's a comical post bro, and smack talking if I've ever heard any. I'm not sure about the other teams in the WSGV, but you've got A LOT to learn when it comes to the Stangs bro.

22 days and counting...

its community service so shut your pie hole

not his job,

Are you paid for your services or is that community service? I heard you offer a free oil change with your servicing! Shut up and let the man answer the questions. I hate when mental midgets like yourself have something to say when it's not you place to say anything! Fred answer the damn person's questions already!

hey mt,
fred doesnt get paid to answer your questions. he job is to get interest going on this blog and he has accomplish this.

Fred,

I personally liked this post and was hoping you would answer my question. Why do you always seem to avoid confrontation? This isn’t an attack on you as much as I am just trying to learn more about how and why you make the executive decisions you do about high school football. Look at questions 1-5 because those are bold and daring on your part to deal with but I welcome you expertise.

Posted by: Mt. Everest | August 10, 2008 2:45 PM

Here’s a list maybe tomorrow you could elaborate on how and why you chose these schools as your top ten if you were ranking the entire S.G.V. Obviously, this also sheds some light on insight to your rationale going into our own preseason ranking to begin this year’s football season. I don’t foresee any changes do you?

A few other questions I have for you are:

1. Do you seriously believe South Hills is at an entirely different level than the other teams in their own division like Charter Oak, Muir, Diamond Ranch, Bonita, and Arcadia and if so why?

2. If you rank South Hills ahead of Bishop Amat, are you implying that the Huskies would beat the Lancers in a head to head game?

3. How close or far away are teams like Charter Oak, Muir, Diamond Ranch, Bonita, and Arcadia from one another?

4. Does Muir ranked ahead of Diamond Ranch reflect that you think the Mustangs beat the Panthers when they play week 0?

5. Finally, are teams like San Dimas and South El Monte in your opinion just literally a level below the teams ranked above them and would teams from the San Antonio and Miramonte League consistently beat those teams anytime they competed versus one another?

By FredJ on August 7, 2008 12:22 PM
Okay, if I'm ranking the entire SGV, which is fitting considering the new regionalization of the CIF playoffs, it would look like this..
1. South Hills
2. Bishop Amat
3. Charter Oak
4. Muir
5. St. Francis
6. Diamond Ranch
7. Bonita
8. Arcadia
9. San Dimas
10. South El Monte

I welcome anyone and everyone to debate this topic as well because I would find very interesting and intriguing anyone else’s thoughts and feelings about this argument. For instance, where’s Glendora and West Covina? The Tartans and Bulldogs are ranked below Bonita, San Dimas AND South El Monte. Wow! Teams like Covina and Northview have fallen off that much that basically the Valle Vista League is a non factor period anymore compared to other teams in the Valley?

Hahaha, only a few weeks away from Friday Night Lights and the smack talking has already begun.

Everyone shut the F up and let the players do the talking on the field.

LA you are starting to sound like these loser amat fans. quit your whining

For all you Los Altos fans who like to recall all the championships in the past (and you should be proud), I do recall the first team to beat a Dwayne DeSpain coached Los Altos team in a championship game was Northview!!! So you can hold your head high Mighty Vikes! You've already beaten them on the biggest stage there is.

This is Northviews best team in years and the pathetic thing is that they won't even smell a CIF championship. Sure they may beat one of the worst LA teams in recent memory and just come on this blog and brag like there's no tomorrow (which is truly sad) but the bottom line is that Northview is looking at a first round playoff exit. Which is an accomplishment for them. So keep bragging and talking smack LA will Always be a known program in the SGV while NV will have this year and this year Only to brag about what little success they may have. Get real Nothview players, fans, parents and get a Life!

hey south hills i dont know about beating los altos but you better be able to beat the vikings but cause if you dont us vikes are going to take pride in watching all you ritchie rich bloggers meltdown in shame see you at the district field

You mean Lefty Dimitry Longoria, Nicky's brother. No experience and will see the field as first timer this year. He is in for a rude awakening playing San Dimas out of the gate first. He may become good someday down the road but like Los Altos weak team they now have a very green QB to lead them.. Sounds like losses to me. 2-8

Huskies put the smack down on los altos and especially northview. los altos is down and northview is even lower. ask fred were clearly the best team in the valley and should be undefeated going into the semifinals versus a team like arcadia, muir, or charter oak.

northview you play in the valle vista league!

outsider very true about the wrestling but honestly williams pearson and crawford were the only wrestlers we had whoever made that statement is stupid, and should be shot

I will be rooting for you husky pride to beat both LA AND NORTHVIEW... But i do recall south hills said they were going to tear apart northviews wrestling team. And look what happened there... GOOD LUCK

How about what South Hills is going to do to both L.A and Northview. Its over, Deen will throw all over L.A and the defense will embarass Northview.

As for Don and slaker Charter Oak is a very good team and hopefully when we play you its a good one!

The only names you'll hear all year long out of LA is as follows:

LA fan ... not LA parent, LA Parent, LA Fan, LA Football Fan....

Mighty

I tried to tell this clown to watch out for our linebackers. Can you see BIG Rod hitting the "Lefty" LOL..

Oh the pain is coming soon!

If you recall Fred, Saying "My first stop is at Northview on Wednedsday to check out QB OSCAR ROBLES and the dangerous duo of receivers KEVIN JONES and ANTHONY FARMER. The Vikes are getting ready for their Sept., 11 opener against LOS LOSERS at the District Field.

If that's not name dropping what is?

Where was your Lefty last year? NOt even playing backup!

LOS ALTOS IS GOING TO FEEL PAIN!

LA 0

NV 56

Oh, by the way stop living in the past!

LA fan ... not LA parent,AKA (La Parent, LA Fan, LA Football Fan, La Jokes.. Read on!!!!!

Your an absolute embarrassment to yourself and the program. Whatever affiliation you have with the Conquerors cannot be real because no one in that program's right mind would tolerate someone like yourself. You are so far out of line and out of touch with reality. I am an innocent bystander and even I realize Charter Oak has dominated Los Altos for years now. If you check previous years (plural) scores for some time now the Chargers have opened a can of whoop ass on you! So shut up while your ahead and pray for your sake the program gets turned around sooner than later. Do you really think Gano would of temporarily retired if he knew he had a team coming back this fall. Get a life and beat Northview and San Dimas before you say anything further because common sense says that's why Gano scheduled them was because the well is dry, cupboards are bare, however you want to state the truth. Good luck!

Posted by: Bonita fan not parent! | August 12, 2008 5:33 PM

We're not worried about what we were in the past, we just "Believe in the Now"

Learn it b---h, because you're past is OVER!

You don't have any names to mention and everyone knows it including Gano who jumped ship.

Oh the reason we don't drop any names other than the "lefty" is because you are going to find out the hard way, SD and NV stop getting your hopes up. "No name team", ohhh now your crossing the line. Here let me tell you who LA is, League champs 17 times, CIF champs 11 times, Players of the year 17(including HC Aguilar). Ohh you dont know what a CIF title is? .. ok it means you went undefeated, or won 99% of your games. "BIG BAD NORTHVIEW"?. What was that, this is the best team you have had in a decade?. That sucks. See the thing about SD is that they base their whole team on "Nico" so LA knows who they have to keep an eye on. At least NV keeps their names to themselves, they're smart. Oooh !!! Cant wait to see LA smash on the Saint and Vikes, on their own field. LET'S GO LA !!!

Silly me, forgot the Mid V A L L E Y League. Duh

Sorry, meant Mid V A L L E Y Division of course. Duh.

slaker;

M E give short shrift to the Farrar's? Not hardly.

LOS ALTOS is a joke.
They are going to lose every game this year starting with NV!!!
LA is a no name team. WHO DO THEY HAVE? YOU GUYS NEED TO START DROPPING SOME NAMES, BUT YOU CAN'T???

A BUNCH OF YOUNGIN'S!!

HAHA!!

GET READY TO LOSE AGAINST BIG BAD NORTHVIEW!!

Silly me, forgot the Mid V A L L E Y League. Duh

Favorites will be San Dimas and Paraclete, (from the other, other valley), both solid teams coming off excellent seasons. From there, it's a big drop off to Blair, Valley Christian (not even in a valley), S El Monte, Rosemead, and Whittier Christian who moves up from the Alpha League.

After that there are a lot of teams who might to be good like Northview, Monrovia, La Puente and Temple City, not to mention a Harris-less Duarte squad and Baldwin Park who always seems to muscle up late in the season to make a run.

Talk, Talk, talk. When push comes to shove just think CHARGERS and their wily old salt BIG LOU and look out here they come. Rate them low and see them in poist season. Aint that right DON?

Fred,

Are you really going to waste your time going to the NV practice? Those guys are soft, and not disciplined like we are at LA. After we beat up the Aints, we're coming for you Vikings!

LA football Fan

Beware of our linebackers..

They will crush your Lefty's little a--..

good assesment don. I agree with everything except for bonita

Vikes, You should no problem beating LA. The only team not beating LA this year will be Wilson. Thanks Coach Hoyd

You guys should have no problem beating LA. The only team not beating LA this year is Wilson. Coach Hoyd Su?Ks.

Ohhhh i still can't believe northview and san dimas think they have a chance at beating LA. BEWARE OF THE "LEFTY" !!!
GO CONQUERORS !!!!

Wondering asked: “I just want to know honestly who has the best chance (SGV Teams) of winning a CIF football title this year.? Playoffs is one thing but really who here in SGV has the best chance?”

If you are asking about the Southeast Division, the chances are great, especially if you include the Western end of the San Gabriel Valley (Pacific League). South Hill followed by Charter Oak and Diamond Ranch should be the favorites going into the season. The next tier would include Muir, West Covina, CalHi, La Serna, Bonita and Schurr.

After that, it's a real horse race with the Del Rio being a league where any team in it can make the playoffs. Not so in the Pacific, San Antonio, or Almont, where the bottom half is pretty sad. Pasadena, Alhambra, San Gabriel, and Arcadia all fielded .500+ teams last year, (although not always against top notch competition).

If you are asking about the Central, (Damien and Glendora), or the Pac-5, (Amat), the chances aren't so red hot.

I'll be there to see our Vikes take care of LA..

Go Vikes!1

I just want to know honestly who has the best chance (SGV Teams) of winning a CIF football title this year.? Playoffs is one thing but really who here in SGV has the best chance?

Los Altos for sure, have to check their practice schedule.

so fred will u guys be heading over to los altos to interview coaches and players and if so when will that be?????

so fred will u guys be heading over to los altos to interview coaches and players and if so when will that be?????

NICO! NICO!

IS GOING TO BEAT LOS ALTOS DOWN!!!

YOU GUYS HAVE NO CHANCE!

I'm so freak'n excited Football season's here!!

God Bless our KIDS!!
