They may have some growing pains, but you know nothing of this man to attack him the way you and all of the other mentally incompetent people on this blog have. Just a few questions for all of the haters & naysayers out there... do any of these negative comments help the kids? Do you have anything concrete against Coach Hoyd aside from your own personal vendettas? Do you actually know anything about the man other than what you have made up and posted on here as the truth? It's true that he has ruffled some feathers, but whenever you have a situation where you are trying to turn around a mediocre program at best, sometimes that is what's needed. If you don't like it, please keep your mouth shut and just let the boys play. If you have actually been out to a practice recently, you would see that the team's confidence is growing on a daily basis. They believe in what the coaches are preaching and it shows with their heart & dedication. The only thing that all of this negativity does is show how scared all of you people in cyberspace really are. What's the worst that happens if the team loses? You're right where you were last year. But what if they win? Will you still call for Mr. Hoyd's head, or will you jump on the wagon? Hoyd is taking the same approach as Amat is across the freeway, which is to teach these young men to be upstanding citizens, accountable, dependable, and above all else, a family. If any of you have actually spent any time around him you would know this.

The beauty of the Internet is that you can post just about anything and push everyone's buttons. There is so much misinformation in this thread IT'S HILARIOUS!!! Well, let me try to clear a few things up. Gilmore is transferring to Los Altos next week, it is true that all teenagers are liars (they take after their parents), it makes no sense to have the coach have any part of an organization that is supposed to support the program he runs, it actually costs $1000/day to rent the Wilson Stadium ($2000 if you are a group associated with the school, but there is a 50% reduction in the rental fee if you run the lights all night long in your absence), Hoyd is the Wilson facilities scheduler for the entire school including the Girls' restroom with the broken toilet next to the Science building, don't forget that the Wilson band was practicing during the Pop Warner practices, too, so they are equally to blame for the scheduling problems with Pop Warner (how dare a Wilson organization uses its own facilities!), it is true that Millan knows nothing about football and that she was on drugs when she was the cheer advisor, Clegg is completely responsible for Wilson beating Los Altos last year (principal's get so little credit for football wins), all teams should be able to win every single one of their games (it's not feasible that a team should actually have a losing record, even if half the teams they play are better than they are, and we all know the teams are better than they are because of the coaches and administrators), everyone mentioned so far has nothing better to do than read these blogs but I have no idea why they don't defend themselves, I'm a female supporter of Hoyd, so that makes 3 of us...oh, and I've been a liar since I was a teenager, so there are still only 2 females that Hoyd appointed to defend him...or are they liars, too? and I am going to write some posts after this one under a different name saying how stupid I am and cuss at myself...oh, and Merrill DOES know how to turn on his computer. Well now let’s see who is wrong. Wilson practice yesterday, finally. Well they had 50 kids on the field practicing with Hoyd. O Yea did I forget to mention that he had the freshmen, sophomore, juniors and seniors practicing with him. Now let’s do the math Los Altos had 65 kids practicing on the FRESHMEN team, and Wilson had 50 kids out for the whole program. O what happen to the thirteen coaches, we only saw five and two of them granulated from High School last year. That is five coaches for the whole football program and two of them are kids. Like we all said it isn’t too late you can still transfer out to a school with a football program.

What is so great about the Hoyd supporters comments, no facts. All they are talking about is parties that Hoyd puts on. They get their kids to write Fred how good of a job Hoyd is doing. Fred comes on this blog and talks about the kids being happy.

Now I also heard that Hoyd has gone out of his way to piss off the local Pop Warner league. He decides to change his practice to the same time as the youth football league and he also decided to have his fifty kid’s practice where HLP Pop Warner is suppose to practice. So let’s see what he has done in his first few months as head coach at Wilson. Chased away so many kids that they don’t have a freshmen team that is something that Workman and Bassett the weakest football schools in the area can’t do. He has pissed off the local youth football program so much they are looking for a new location to practice and play.

Do you know what amazes me Tustin Pop Warner won’t even let Hoyd coach the defensive. Hoyd is currently a linebacker coach on the Tustin Pop Warner Jr. Midget team. But Wilson will hire this JOKE as a Head Coach of a football program, or at least what use to be a football program.

That wheel is just fine with us.. We had a blast at our Annual meet and greet party. The food was great and it was nice to meet all the coaches. Everyone was very nice and the players were so respectfull. They helped clean up and treated all the adults to a nice evening. That goes to show you that the coaches are doing their job. Not only are they teaching our kids to play, but their also teaching them how to be respectful, proud young men. I decided to place my son at Wilson rather than my home school LA. As you LA parents know they also have their issues..SO LET'S JUST PUT THE GRUDGE ON THE FIELD. PLAY FOOTBALL!!

Bravo!! Thanks Patricia for speaking the truth. Our Boosters are a bunch of crazy people that really Care about the players, staff, and school. Why would someone volunteer their precious time. But unfortunatly their are always people that are unhappy with anything you do. Some people don't like change, but thats what this organization needed. So keep up the good work.

I’m happy that you have taken the time to speak to our Coach Hoyd. I hope it was clear that you can't make everyone happy all of the time. As you well know people do not like change, so when Coach Hoyd came to Wilson he arrived with many great ideas. Sadly some people cannot adjust to the new situations. So instead of working it out, they go back into the box and complain and spread vicious rumors. Well we are in high school, but I believe some got confused and thought they were still students IN school.

I also wanted to inform you that our last meeting was 100% improved and united. I am certain that All the bad apples will go away. We will continue to work together and help the Coach, our school and our players succeed in every way possible.
Fred you are more than welcomed to come and join our meeting. Then maybe you will take this blog off and let people talk it out. At the meeting everyone is welcomed to express their opinions.

All incoming freshmen and sophomores if football is a priority you can transfer out of Wilson to another high school and be eligible to play up to the first day of school. Once you attend the first day of school you are locked into that school for the year.

Your other option is if you are 15 years old or younger you can play on HLP Pop Warner Football Midget team. From what I hear this Midget team has some sophomores and freshmen already playing on it from Wilson. You know the coaching staff they were your freshmen coaches last year. This is the coaching staff that Merrill wanted to take over the program at Wilson, big mistake Clegg.

Here is the latest on the freshmen team. One of the kids on the team was told that Wilson currently only has 6 kids coming out for freshmen ball. So what Hoyd is going to do is make a fresh/soph team aka JV team. Wilson will have no freshmen team and all Juniors and Seniors will be on Varsity.

Your first question is why is this Hoyd's fault. A normal summer program goes for six weeks. Wilson's freshmen kids’ summer program went eight days, two weeks. When can you start conditioning today, August 14th. Hoyd is handing out equipment today, Wilson starts on the 18th. Let's compare that to Los Altos. Los Altos had 24 days of summer camp. Wilson had 8 days of summer camp. Los Altos is having two a days Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. That is six more practices before Wilson even starts back up. That is a total of 24 more practice secessions than Wilson, WOW.

All I have to say, this could have all been prevented if Hoyd was doing whole lot more coaching and whole lot less worrying about how much money him and his coaches are getting. Or how many pairs of shoes, pants and shirts the booster club was going to buy for him and his coaches.

You can't say that the school administration wasn't warned about Hoyd. I know for a fact that one of the candidates made it very clear that Hoyd was not a person to be trusted and would create major issue within your program. I think the school administration just didn't think he could mess up a program that fast.

I will be at practice these few days.

If I do see any truth in all this. I am pulling my son out immediately. I hope this hasn't ruined his chance at playing football.

This is not the first time he has been put in check nor will it be last time. This whole valley is going to crush is Team. Hoyd Anaheim is a joke just like you.

Finally it looks like the football coach at Wilson High School is going to starting coaching, it looks like it's a little to late for some of the kids that have already left the program.

Based on yesterdays board meeting Hoyd was told that his by-laws are being replaced with a new version. The new version removes him from the executive board. He is also being removed from the GOD positions, having the final say.

The only task left is getting Hoyd out of touching any money. There is really no reason why money goes through the head coach. Of course Hoyd's track record from Orange County explains his need for the money to go through him.

Well practice starts in a few days, let see how much damage this caused the team. I do know for a fact that three more kids are gone one of them is off the freshmen team and the other two are sophomores. I am also aware of one more freshmen that is trying to talk his parents into allowing him to transfer to LA. Hoyd created a real big mess, we will all see how big of a mess in a few days.

What I find so interesting is Hoyd has two females on this blog fighting his battles. I’m sure that has nothing to do with their lack of knowledge of the game.

The only school administrator that is supporting Hoyd is another female, Milan. She will be the first person to tell you that she knows nothing about football.

Once again where is Merrill, the only school administrator with knowledge and experience. Why won’t Merrill talk to Fred about the Hoyd situation? Why won’t Merrill go to any of the booster club meetings? I would love to hear Merrill position on this mess that Hoyd has created.

Personal, Hoyd has made it perfectly clear he isn’t going to stop until he gets what he wants.

If you've noticed there is no one out here who wants to participate in any of this anymore. It's moved way beyond absurd and manic. WOW!!!! As someone close to Wilson Athletics all I really have to say is EMBARRASSING!!! All of you people blogging here are an embarrassment!!! This is fricking ridiculous. Im truly embarrassed!!!

It only gets better, Hoyd is trying to get Uncle Bob to take a job at the school and get paid for it. If Uncle Bob accepts the job, then he has to step down as President of the Booster Club per district policy.

Hoyd wasn't born yesterday; the district tells Hoyd he can't be on the board of the booster club because he gets a salary from the school. So Hoyd tries to get Uncle Bob to accept a paying job at the school to force him off the booster club. From what everyone is saying MILLIAN is in on this backyard deal. I guess Millian and Hoyd are trying to take over the booster club. The meeting this Tuesday 6:30 p.m. in the teacher lounge or the dance room is getting more interesting by the day. It would be great to have the district their again so Millian and Hoyd can't play any more games.

Hoyd has continued to break school district policy with no consequences to his actions. The best one was when he was told the semi-pro team couldn't play at Wilson High School. He had one scrimmage and three games their before the school district finally stopped him. I wonder how much money he pocketed on that transaction. I was told that the fee to use the field was $500 per event a fee that supposedly never paid. Of course no one will ever know being that Hoyd did all the communications with the semi-pro team and they are friends of his. Just like the gear Hoyd is forcing the kids to purchase, they have to purchase it from his vendor. Just like the shirts, shoes, and pants that Hoyd wants the booster club to purchase for his coaches, purchased from his vendor.

Ask yourself this, what head coach of a new program spends so much of his time worrying about the money?

If I was in his shoes I would be working on the field issues. Leave the money issues for the booster club.

I remember a comment one of the LA supports made about Coach Aguilar over at LA. He avoids the booster club meeting; he wants nothing to do with the booster club. He wants to COACH.

It all comes down to MONEY. Hoyd made a deal with all his Tustin Pop Warner coaches to coach with him over here at Wilson. That deal included the additional money. That is the root to all these problems. Hoyd doesn't control the money and the people that do don't agree with the additional pay. These are Pop Warner coaches and a few kids that aren't even old enough to drink. Well the executive board members of the booster club aren't going along with this deal. They want to spend the money on the kids, not a bunch of coaches with little to no experience at the High School level. That is why Hody is now trying to get Uncle Bob, his wife and Don removed from the executive board so he can put his people in charge. I have to give Hoyd some credit, he isn’t stupid, he made a deal with Milan. They are agreeing on sharing the profits from the snack shack with all the other athletic programs. Football usually gets the revenues from all home game snack shacks. Hoyd is making a back door deal with her that the football program will get Home Coming Day only and the other Athletic programs will get all the other days. What is so bazaar about this whole situation is you have Milan and Hoyd not following the by-laws that Hoyd wrote? The same by-laws that the school district already came to a board meeting, and told the School that Hoyd can not be on the booster club board. The next day Hoyd calls another meeting and votes Don and executive board member off the board. The great part of this is the meeting didn’t have a quorum. But Milan told everyone that anyone can vote on all subjects that are being voted on. So Hoyd had two executive board members at this meeting, not a quorum but both voted to keep Don on the executive board. Yes, it gets better Milan tells every one that Hoyd is an executive board member because the board hadn’t removed him yet. So Hoyd tells Milan that Don was voted off the executive board. Milan agrees and said Don is off the executive board. Were not done yet, Hoyd calls one of his buddies and tells them to come to the next meeting on Tuesday because he is replacing Don, the board didn’t even talk about who was replacing Don.

What is real interesting about Gilmore transferring to any school that he would like is per CIF rules it would be very easy for him to do. Being that Gilmore is 18 years old, all he needs to do is rent a room from someone in that school district and he is then eligible to attend that school and play football this year.

Gilmore if you are interested in attending another school, just approach the head coach of that school. He can’t approach you, put you can talk to him if you are interested.

Tim Gilmore going to Diamond Ranch. I couldn't image why. All these people on this blog supporting Hoyd have been trying for the last couple of weeks to get Uncle Bob to quit, so they can take over the booster club and give Hoyd everything he wants. That would be prefect, Uncle Bob quites the booster club takes Gilmore to Diamond Ranch. Hoyd wouldn't win a single game at any level all year. I am willing to beat on it 0-30.

I would like to make to very important points.

1. I am personally aware of four different people that are making the negative comments about Hoyd. These four people are making about 90% of the negative comments. All four of these people have not been to a single booster club meeting this year.

2. I find it real interesting that all the parents on the booster club with kids on the football team that are lacking talent love Hoyd. All the people on the booster club that Hoyd doesn't control due to one of their kids on the team and Uncle Bob (Gilmore), are the ones that have major issues with Hoyd.

Fred you lack of understanding of the real issue's with Hoyd is just amazing. These issues that have been brought up in this blog have nothing to do with how much the kids like Hoyd or don't like him. For some reason you keep bring the kids into this blog. You continue to avoid talking to Merrill. From what I am being told Merrill won't talk to you because he has nothing good to say about Hoyd. The only comment he will make is "I had nothing to do with Hiring Hoyd, the decision was made above me."

If you think your boys are telling you the truth you have a big surprise coming. Learn this quickly, all boys in their teens Lie about everything even good kids. This is not an opinion it is a fact. There is always some level of truth to all the these aquisiations. Negative people draw in other people just like themselves. Coach Hoyd is a good example. If you can not deal with adults, how can he possibly coach your boys.

As a parent of one the players on the Wildcats. My son tells me the coach is great and that the team is behind him 100%. I am a member of the booster club and all this bickering had turned me off to the whole process but something happened that changed my mind. I found out that these parents that were doing the complaning don't have kids that play football at Wilson. What is up with that? I say please move on...

can you please state what your purpose is. your comments are so negative. i wonder if your attitude is indicative of the typical wilson high parent. i assume you have a son on the team and no matter what you think of the coach, the kids on the team need the support of the entire community as well as you. it's like raising a child... if you allow your child to see you and your spouse fighting constantly, you'll probably raise a dysfunctional individual instead of a thriving young man or woman. your constant negativity about the coach will breed doubt, instability, and undermining in that program. is that what you want, for the sake of the kids? i wonder.

Thank you Fred and to all those that are mature enough to handle things like the adults and parents that you are supposed to be and not bash someone that you probably don't know and couldn't do a better job than. That's why you all get up in the morning and go to your jobs and didn't decide to become teachers and coaches. How about we talk to the people in your office and start blogging about what you do at work everyday. I have personally talked with several players and some employees that are directly involved with the football program (none of them coaches) and they all say that things within the team are going well and the players like all the coaches. EVERY single school has booster and parent issues! EVERY SCHOOL! Clegg isn't the principle anymore and I promise you, Merril can barely turn on his computer, let alone read through all these blogs and respond. Not only that, they dont care about a bunch of parents that dont have sense enough to mature up and stop spreading rumors about things you know nothing about. Focus on your own child and stop bashing the people that are actually trying to do whats best for the kids...Thanks again Fred, your doing a great job!!!

Yeah, you'd probably give me your sons number (joking). Look, this player reached out anonymously, and if another player wants to email and give their perspective, that's fine, just make sure you leave your name, like the person I quoted. I won't "out" anyone, but it's always nice to hear what players are thinking.

By the way some of these board members hidding behind screen names have no problem talking to you one on one Fred about the situation over at Wilson.

So do you want me to have some kids call you and give you a totally different view. I have no problem giving them your number. Then you are going to open a new thread with these kids comments.

I opened this thread because of the players' comments, which I thought was telling considering all the negative stuff written on the blog. Apparently it's not affecting them that much. Like I said, I will speak to Merrill soon, not to open an investigation, but to get his feelings on the situation.

That is correct, so why would you even waste our time and open a new thread with a "No Comment", what is the point of it. You know that is exactly what you are going to get from Clegg and Merrill also, “No Comment”.

I will respond to the "No Comment". If you were in Hoyd’s position and these people were attacking your character and the comments were not true, would your response be "No Comment".

Do you see Merrill or Clegg coming to the Newspaper defending Hoyd? Not once has Clegg or Merrill came to Hoyd's defense, that in it's self is a telling statement.

Thanks Fred, most of us dont' care about all this either, we'd rather you focus on our boys who are working extremely hard. We parents have to remember this is about the kids, and we have complaints, we should take it to the school, not this blog, where you should be talking and promoting the players, which is the most important.

He addressed them with me, and I was satisfied with his answers. Look, I'm not here to do a background check on every coach in the San Gabriel Valley, that's what the school's administration is for. My focus is on putting out of football tab for the San Gabriel Valley, not wasting my time with all this nonsense. If the school or CIF finds any wrongdoing, then I'll report it. You have to understand, I'm not the Wilson beat writer. This isn't like one reporter covering every aspect of the UCLA football team, and being there on a daily basis. I'm dealing with more than 30 football teams, and don't have the time to address every accusation, especially those on a blog. When I get a chance to speak with Merrill or Clegg, I'll ask what their feeling is on all this, but until then, I've got broader things to focus on.

Now let me get this right, you asked Hoyd if he is doing anything wrong. He told you he isn't going to address comments made on the blog. You talked to one kid on the team and he told you every thing is great. Investigation over, great job.
