Bishop Breakdown
We'll post a Bishop Breakdown thread on Monday's to evaluate Friday night's games, the players, coaching staff's, and the next opponent.

With the coaching staff in place, this feels like a make or break year at Bishop Amat. It's probably not fair to expect too much from Steve Hagerty and staff in their first season, but there's nothing like the excitement and emotions of a quick turnaround. Whatever happens, week-by-week, we'll follow the ride.
Lats week: Los Osos 24, Bishop Amat 20
This week: Bishop Amat (0-1) vs. Orange Lutheran (1-0) at OCC, 7 p.m.
Quick look: Looking at the numbes, the Lancers didn't do so bad. Nick Lenhart outplayed Los Osos' great QB Richard Brehaut, completing 15-of-27 for 197 yards to Brehaut's 7-of-18 for 122. But while Lenhart suffered a pair of picks,
Brehaut averted the turnovers and had the big TD to Fields, who scored another with 48 seconds left. The down side is the Lancers will likely start 0-2. Orange Lutheran is No. 4 in the MaxPreps California rankings, and just beat Fresno's Bullard 35-17. But, with West Covina, Diamond Ranch, Damien, St. Francis and Chaminade to follow, I still say the Lancers will either be 5-2 or 4-3 at the worst.

dude, ok....so i posted under the whale hunter for awhile....i admit that, but blue orca didnt print his name either (know it all big mouth that he was)....and he needed to have his bullsh*t checked every once in awhile....anyone who has been one here for a few years now will agree wholeheartedly........so for the record, alothough i may be a burro, i'm not the burro your looking for.......i dont usually sling poo at the Amat Nation anymore (you got plenty of drama deal with), my shots are usually are reserved for the DRANCH clan, believe me they can be a very time consuming nemesis......although the Lancer Land program better bring their "A" game that night in Oct against the Panthers---or you will have a nasty sh*t sandwhich to eat on local TV an all..........I was at the Los Altos game tonight, and things have taken a dump in HH, the O line was DOMINATED by the Northview D, and can somebody out there suggest a few plays to Aguilar other than Draws up the middle with no timeouts or slow developing screens that fool no one???.....i think that sums it up....they came damn close to winning tonight, but you gotta block up front----come on now!

please tell me you people have something better to do than guess who i am. ALL of you with the exception of FC are unknowns. The only reason we know FC is because someone called him out. You all use poser monikers including you Joe Amat. Don't call others out unless you plan on using your REAL name!
FC. I am not randy. You were the one said LET IT GO and I have. Now it's your turn to LET IT GO and move on. Take your own advise for once.
You can now all call me by new name King Stud.

I can't see randy using an alias other than randy. I'm pretty randy will write what he thinks and couldn't care less what others think. In fact, I think that randy would rather enjoy you knowing if he thought you were a POS.
It was a rather long process, but Donkey Boy didn't give himself the name - others gave it to him because he usually posts under something obscure - usually ending with "sucks" using his stuttering finger - giving it multiple "k" and "s"'s .
Long story... it might come up again. Our guy with the Chinese Proverbs will explain!

i am new to this (this summer)... but can someone please explain the hatred of amat by these people? i really don't understand it. i don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow or if amat is at OL's level yet, but i do know that OL is going to have to show up and play. amat is a good, well coached team. the game should be exciting tomorrow.

donkey boy aka jack as-...you must make that same noise/sound as the character in Godfather III....We know who you are. You go to all Amat games and sit amongst all of us thinking you are undercover. Deep down you are a Amat fan but one that rips them for losing and expects perfection. You know so much about us but have become a Turncoat. Donkey Boy, I just want you to say SOMETHING. I don't care what. If you can - *EXPLAIN* yourself. But first, you might have to look that word up.
What I do think is funny, Donkey Boy, is that no matter what you post and what your tag line says - we always know it's you... and call you out. Then, without fail, YOU RESPOND!!!
An old proverb says, "
It is not what you are called, but what you answer to."
So now we know - you ARE Donkey Boy!
Posted by: Joe Amat | September 10, 2008 8:31 AM
Donkey boy,
Or maybe we can call you by your former name, Lampwick, let's keep it simple for you since you have no brains. Your problem is pure jealousy, no more, no less. So what if your school gets NO PRESS, that's life. Or maybe YOU are a former transfer who couldn't get playing time so daddy pulled you out of the school, SO WHAT? Live with it, nothing is going to change.
It's just like death and taxes.
Posted by: donkeys have no brains | September 10, 2008 8:22 AM
donkey boy,
Be real here. You keep your comments simple because you are simple minded. As far as your comments mostly always containing suck or sucks, well that is just what you do best and you can't stop thinking about your job . Just admit to what AMAT or an alum did to you in your younger days so we can understand the root of your problem. Another thing is since you are now recognized as donkey boy why don't you just post with that name.A donkey boy by any other name is still donkey boy.

Tell you what joe. You go look up the word condescending and maybe i will respond but I doubt it.
I keep my comments simple because I take into account I am talking to amat people who have no brains and Amat grads like jcaz couldn't spell his way out of a paper bag. You suck and your school sucksss

Jerry McClanahan has been named the starting QB for Amat this Friday against OLU.
Posted by: Breaking News | September 9, 2008 11:11 PM
Donkey Boy, a blog is like calling in to the Jim Rome Show. "Have a take - and don't suck"
"They suckkkkk" .... isn't a take. Tell us why. I'll read that. Maybe even respect it. Probably argue back and cross-examine. In which case it is your prompt to offer a rebuttal. Now I know that would involve some thinking, understanding what a rebuttal is, and the ability to construct complete sentences - but I have faith in you. Really I do. Give it a try. Tell us Amat sucks - and then give reasons. Construct a case, some supporting facts. And not , the schools in the barrio, dads have beer bellies and wear Raider shirts, and the alumni are old. Talk about the team, the coaching, the offense, the defense, the cheerleaders, even the uniforms or the band - no wait, not the band.
... and nobodies mentioned it - but thank GOD we've got our old uniforms and got rid of the M.V. pop warner uni's... but I digress- (Sorry Donkey Boy, di-gress:to leave the subject temporarily)
So Donkey Boy (see - the use of that nickname is to humiliate and demean you and motivate you to engage in some debate) Let's see if you can buck up and say ONE thing that a former teacher can be proud of. Show some intelligence. I dare you.

real lancer life,
The lancer life is actually a book filled with disciplinary guidelines to keep the school structured, something (structure!) your school probably doesn't follow
Posted by: Amat | September 9, 2008 12:45 AM
Thank you for the response and you are most correct EOP. I am getting too old as I thought ROP sounded wrong but could not remember it. Probably illegal now! I don't know how I forgot it as I did it a few times and never wanted it again.
Cazarez? Any relation to Mark Cazarez, great LB!
I will have to see if I can get to the game.

Someone on this blog the other day said that the JV team is made up mostly of sophomores and a handful of seniors and juniors.
I suppose that is why they had their lunch handed to them in the game against Los Osos because the LO team had mostly upper classmen playing on their side.
I have to tell you that I for one, was very surprised to here that they were deemphasizing the JV team in that way, because if you watched the game, you could tell that this team, was not ready for prime time.
With that in mind, they will most likely get the same result this week against OL.
Having said that however, there was one bright spot for this team, and that was the play of one of the defensive backs.
Nicholas Casarez will be a name we will be hearing allot of, in the near future.
This kid really stood out, because you just keep hearing his name over and over on the loud speaker. The kid was in almost every defensive play during the game. He was a real gamer.
BTW, I believe that this Thursday the Freshman play their first home game. So this will be the first time this year that I get a chance to see this new kid that everyone is pumping up. Lets see how this QB stacks up against a good OL team.

J,
wasn't it called EOP (extra opportunity practice)? Log rolls, bear crawls and summersaults. Ah, the good ol days.
Posted by: Sevie | September 8, 2008 10:33 PM
jastrab,
yes we still have to write the lancer life out for 45 minutes during deans detention, and they still dont go for the parents taking the blame excuse haha
Posted by: amat | September 8, 2008 10:30 PM
Fair enough! Somethings never change. Hagarty's mom (I think it was his mom) nailed me all the time for being late. She never gave me a break even when my mom (a principal for public school) came in to defend me as it was her fault. Do they still write Lancer Life in long hand?
Alcantara probably had a 45 minutes to one hour commute so he had to be late a few times. I had trouble coming from Covina!
I can understand your view, but I was only saying it was interesting that the Freshman won in that manner, but I see your point.
Does Amat still do ROP for football? I had a few of those from Rogers and I can till remember the log rolls.
J
Posted by: Jastrab | September 8, 2008 10:22 PM
J - Just saying, the only team that did anything against Los Osos was your freshman team. Amat's freshman squad is always tough. I don't know that the freshman victory negates the Los Osos program at the other levels? And it did kind of sound like you were pumping them up.
Posted by: Are You Serious aka Mel | September 8, 2008 9:32 PM
alcantara was getting in trouble for being tardy in the mornings, at amat you get marked for being tardy and have to serve 15 minute detentions for every tardy. IF you miss the detention the time gets increased.
Posted by: amat | September 8, 2008 9:25 PM
Are you serious,
I am not sure if I would say that my comments would be considered "pumping up", as I posted all the scores not just the freshman.
Living in LO land (the IE) I just found it ammusing that when Alcantara walked by me at the game and someone asked him why he left he commented on the lower levels having more organization. I will give you LO is a great looking campus and their field is very nice with the mountains in the background, but with all that an 100 guys (spirt packs and all) they lost.
Give yourself a name (like Amnot what happened to that guy), but it gets old when the name is like a subject line an e-mail. It is not like if you make up some name we are going to know who you are.

Posted by: Justrab | September 8, 2008 8:22 PM
J-strab,Are you really pumping up your freshmen teams? The only team at amat that won was your A team. The rest of your Squads got handled!!
Posted by: Are you serious? | September 8, 2008 7:05 PM
Erick Alcantara was the Los Osos soph QB. Can't blame them for leaving the way Amat was going. I'm sure there were other reasons for departure cause I know Dad and Hagerty are friends. AND, Amat Fresh team is always very good! We've beaten alot of teams with 100+ players.
Posted by: Amat Friendly | September 8, 2008 6:52 PM
Those that put the Amat program down so shamelessly either have nothing better to do with their spare time and/or are ignorantly envious and still feel the need to kick us when in our down years.
Rest assured, I'll give you the benefit that you are smart enough to perceive our threat, that we are rebuilding our proud program, that we will rise to the top and restore our football dominance
again and will most likely beat the crap out of your school.
Yours truly,
An Amat alum
HAHA,now they have no choice but to make excuses......by the way they might just beat your school, if they ever rebuild. It could've been this year if they didn't have all those transfers.
Posted by: marcoas31 | September 8, 2008 5:25 PM
Jcaz or Joe Amat,
Does Amat have a Sophomore team or JV. Why play JV teams if your team is primarily 10th graders? I recall Markham created the JV as he likes to keep 25 guys of varsity, but why have it today?
Also, I though I heard Throplay little brother is/was on the Freshman team. Is that true?
Funny the Freshman won in good fashion as Eric Alcantara (former Amat Freshman) left last year as he said he did not like the way the program was run, but it looks like the lower level as LO need some work if they bring 100 guys with size and speed and cannot win against Amat.
My local friends like to rub it in so this is what I have to deal with from Arby and Co.
LOS OSOS FOOTBALL WEEK 1
Varsity - 24 to 20 Win over Bishop Amat
JV - 37 to 0 Win over Bishop Amat
Sophomores - 41 to 7 win over Vista Murrieta
Freshman A - 35 to 0 loss to Bishop Amat
Freshman B - 6 to 6 tie with Bishop Amat

This meeting of the AHC ( Amat Hate Club) has been called to order. You all may be seated.
We need to rename this the bishop amat mental breakdown because that's what they had in the Los Osos game. All you Amat grads enjoy another ass whipping at the hands of OL this week. And as members of this fan club we will be here next week to laugh our asses off.
And Larry the Loser? You keep coming back here so we can continue to laugh at your once dominate program now on par with Ganesha!! Is there anything more amusing than an Amat grad sitting in his chonies and Raider t-shirt at the local library typing away to us. Isn't your hour at the Library almost up?
It's ironic that you find us amusing. Is there anything really more amusing than old farts like you living in the past? People like you and Joe Amat are good reminders to the good people of SGV of why parents should never send their kids to amat. Because you will wind up a cranky old fart on a blog talking about the good old days and trying to convince intelligent people that amat is still a proud program when its sucked for 13 years. No one is buying it except all the Amat grads who have no other choice and are blinded by stupidity.

I'm not sure who said that but I've talked to many college coaches who recruit players from schools that play at the highest level for just this reason. If you've played before 10,000 spectators, the student body and alumni look forward to your every game and your performance is critiqued in the paper (or a blog) you're certainly getting some training for life that is invaluable and can't be replicated in any other arena.

Altho they have not played good football in awhile Bishop Amat is known throughout the SGV and has made a reputation out of itself. It is all History to a once dominant program. Like the Dodgers or the Cubs or the Dolphins They really have not come up big for years now but no forgets them and still pulls for them. History and a rich Tradition and following over at Amat but nothing spectacular is coming out of their football program as far as winning. A good program nonetheless.

You all need to stop the Amat bashing! Bishop Amat has brought a lot of positive press to the SGV. I realize they're not the powerhouse the once were, but for crying out loud, they are still just 17 year old kids playing football and should hope to enjoy some support from the local media and from the community. Fred, thanks for giving some info on Amat. Maybe next week they'll do better. If they do, I'll blame you, JoeAmat, and the others who throw bones Amats way - even when they're down!
