Longoria listed as "probable"
Los Altos quarterback Dmitri Longoria is questionable for Friday's opener against San Dimas. The left-hander is nursing a sore arm, which could mean that junior Joseph McKeehan could get the nod. "I'd say there's about an eighty percent chance Dmitri will start," Los Altos coach Felipe Aguilar said. "We'll see how it goes."

football jones:
"1.Did LA really start 3rd string QB?"
Actually, they started an undersized receiver with a 5-day crash-course at the position.
"What happened to 2nd?"
The main competitors and backup prospects for the QB job disappeared during the Summer, due to various academic and/or personal reasons.
"2. Anyone know status of Longoria?"
He suited up on Friday, but my guess is he'll miss Thursday's game, as the next week is an off week for the Conqs. That should give him plenty of time to find out if he's fully recovered or not.
"3. Friday nights team looked young and small...but skilled. How many starting seniors did this team return?"
The team had 2 returning starters, as already mentioned. Others with some minimal Varsity experience include: MLB/FB Marcus Adame, OL/DL Nick Venegas, OL/DL Peter Gonzales, RB/LB Andrew Yamikawa, and RB/CB Issaic Ramirez.
So you can basically figure that LA had about 17 starters that never played a down of Varsity ball to contrast the 17 returning starters of San Dimas.
"Note to O-coordinator: "Waste Not, Want Not" (timeouts)."
The two right away in the 3rd quarter surprised me too... then again, what do you do, leave all the kids on the field in complete bafflement?
Of course, they didn't even call the first timeout they got charged in the first half... (I think the ref misheard someone on the sideline or something).
Ah, well. It was a week zero game, and no one knew what to expect.

Football Jones,
Yes, LA did start a 3rd string QB.
The emergency 3rd string QB never took a snap until 1 week before the game. I think being put in a situation like that shows what type of heart the kid has. My hat goes off to him. Unfortunately, LA didn't get the win but he WON all the respect from Conq land. Good job Joseph, we are all proud of you.
The 2nd string QB is Justin Zamano. He has had some Academic issues and won't be ready until he gets his academics straightened out.
Still look on Mckeehan being the first or second string QB.
I heard Longoria was ready to play on Friday. But coach Aguilar decided a to give him a rest for next week. We really won't know until Mondays practice.
I believe LA has only 2 true returning starters.
Kicker, Jeremy Brown and Center, Leonard Magallon
Jeremy Brown didn't have a single kickoff returned in the SD game. This kid has a leg. Definetely a key player.
There are other kids on the team that played on Varsity last year so LA is not as green as they are saying.
GO CONQS!!!!!

2. Anyone know status of Longoria?

SD vs LA post game wrap-up,
1.Nico is good...definitely -NOT- great. *Grade=B+*
2.SD O-line looked a average...at best. *(C+)*
3.SD defense had trouble stopping a 'green', one-dimensional LA offense.
*(D)*
C'mon SD, every fan in stadium knew next LA play would be a run...and STILL SD had trouble stopping it?
No excuses from LA, I think we performed well; except for those 2 TOs (within 2 plays)to start 3rd qtr...COACH what was that about???

I'm not your dad, your mom, on eof your brothers, or anything close.
However, I have become a big fan over the course of spring to summer to now, and you my friend tough, charismatic, athletic, and you are a competitor.
Launch some of those rockets in your left-handed arsenal and do some damage!!!
I knew you'd play. I knew that you wouldn't let the Conq Nation and the tradition of LA down.

Why Is That....
A self-important freshman attending a recent football game took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.
'You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one', the student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear. 'The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon. Our space probes have visited Mars. We have nuclear ene rgy, ships and electric and hydrogen cars, cell phones, computers with light-speed processing...and more.'
After a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows: 'You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young........so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little sh!t, what are you doing for the next
generation?'
The applause was amazing…

Why is that?
You as a child are not old enough to make decisions as to what is and what is not an accomplishment of an adult, parent, or society.Despite what you think you do not know everything. Learn from the advice your elders give you and keep your mouth shut and although you made not like what your hearing it is part of growing up and learning to be an adult.

That is a sign of lack of leadership, which starts at the top. Hoyd allowed these kids to do what every they wanted during the summer and now he is paying for that lack of discipline.
I can tell you this much Hoyd's cell phone is getting lite up, last I heard he has received over 100 phone calls from upset parents.
Posted by: Wilson Parent | September 4, 2008 11:42 AM
Leadership interesting story.
But I just find it so hard to comprehend that 15, 16, 17 year olds know so much that they walk off. That's not unity. That disrepect!
PERIOD
That's just what is wrong with society. We have let these little kids who think they can get away with anything without suffering the consequences get away with everything.
What are we raising? But a bunch of they think they know it alls.
Posted by: Stop the madness | September 4, 2008 11:32 AM
Stop the Madness. Similar event happened at Carson High a couple of years ago. Seems the players thought a coach had made culturally insensitive remarks and as a sign of solidarity the players assembled for warmups in formation and left their helmets on the field and walked off. That took guts in my opinion. But then again that team's HC is a players coach and a builder of men.
That "team" by the way won the City Championship that year. The assistant coach in question addressed the captains and then the team. Sometimes it's not what we say from ignorance that matters but what we do when that ignorance is brought to our attention.
That display of team unity brought the team together. Leadership is not only a concept, it's what you do when you're required to act.
Particular to Wilson , I don't know squat. And I like it that way. Too many rumors coming out of that school/city/program for one year.

Screw the seniors that walked off, collect their gear and DONT let them back. And forfeit the rest of the year if you have too.
The adults are in charge not some little punks that walk off anywhere. If they dont like it tough.

Well I never thought, well really I did think that Fred would bow down to the pressure from Wilson High School. Why did you remove the Hoyd thread. It wasn't going in the direction that Hoyd wanted it to go, so you remove it. Were any of these facts reported incorrectly. Did Hoyd's comments get one of his players arrested. Did all the seniors walk off the field and refuse to practice yesterday. Last time I check a reporter is suppose to report the good and the bad. Fred you make Hoyd look like an angel, but when you get to know the guy you find out that he is the devil.

Hot Off The Press;
Of course you won’t here this from Fred. All the seniors walked off the field at practice today at Wilson High School. They refused to practice due to Coach Hoyd’s comments to the police, based on these comments one of Hoyd’s players got arrested. Yesterday Hoyd gets the President and Vice President of the booster club remove. Today he pisses off all the players. This is the guy that Fred asked us to give a chance. Well now we have given him more than a chance and he still can’t make the right decisions.

why all this talk about nico... the boy is slow reaction time slow LA will shut him down. SD OL is big but vary clumsy slow as well...LA and SEM will put SD in their place real quick. SD enjoy the hype well u can because it will be over in a blink of a eye. so will be all the hype on nico.

Boy, LAs problems continue. I'm a Bonita supporter, but no matter, like most HS football fans, I want to see the best players on the field. Having said that, it's a shame Longoria might not be able to go. I hope the team makes a smart decision and realizes this is just one pre-season game. Get him healthy for league!!! Like LA Insider, I have to say, SD looks unstopable this year. They are strong, fast, big, and healthy. Their O-Line is as good as any in the SGV. I don't think they will win all their out-of-league games (particularly the pot!), but they should stomp their league and compete with perhaps Paracleate for the CIF-SS championship. Nico is a great runner, but he's not their biggest offensive tool. Their O-Line is unreal. Great size and speed. It will be fun to watch them get smashed by Bonita in a few weeks! Bear Cats Rock!
Posted by: Just Wondering | September 3, 2008 12:35 PM
The rumors are true about the possible Tommy John surgery. I heard DL has an MRI scheduled for today which will not be ready for Friday night. There is NO WAY he is playing! This is not a psych out move to try to get one up on SD.
OFFENSE: Losing Longoria is a HUGE blow! That being said, JOSEPH (Not Justin) McKeehan is not bad. He's definitely performed adequately in recent days for LA. If LA was playing anyone else this week I would say we need to give them a chance. Their running game is solid and will make their offense better than most think.
Unfortunately they drew SD in week 0 and when those big boyz on the O-line stuff the run they will not have a passing game to keep them honest. Sadly, LA's best offensive weapon may be their kicker, Jeremy Brown. That's never a good sign.
DEFENSE: Coach Fair will have our boys schemed correctly for this game. He has coached against countless Wing-T teams over his career. SD does not do anything tricky. They line up and smash you in the mouth with Nico and occassionally mix in a sweep to their speedsters.
All things being equal, this would be a battle to the end. But let's be honest, LA does not have the talent and size that they have had in the past. They simply will not have the interior strength to stop Nico, nor do they have the speed to catch SD's fast backs.
PREDICTION TIME: I hate to say it, it pains me but here it is:
SD-48
LA-17
Expect SD to score easily on their first two or three posessions before LA wakes up and starts to compete.

You're a good fan, but have the wrong approach.
Let the kids from both teams go out and play the game and have fun.
This is just high school football, and I hope both teams have a good learning experience.
We learned a long ago, trash talking doesn't amout to much! Sometimes it better to take the high road!

Who said (thinks) this kid has a "career" in football???
lol
Posted by: LA obscurity | September 3, 2008 4:15 AM
Bad break for LA and thier QB but it is not true. BUT it does not matter they are not going to pass the ball anyway. They are going to run all over the soft defense SD has. Dimitry will be alright handing the ball off. He can stand and watch their backs run wild to victory if these rumors are true. Which I heard these are false rumors. It is a smoke screen to blow SD heads up into thinking they are going to win. So LA can pop those heads as they RUN wild to their 35 to 14 victory.

Are you serious? Where did you get that info from?
They said they where going to do some tests today.
I hope it's not true.

If that were my kid and the head Coach forced me off the booster club.
I would pull my kid out and transfer him to a rival school. Just to give it to that coach.
Tim Gilmore has a good case for school hardship. This needs to be resolved soon.
This could ruin any chance of a scholarship for Tim Gilmore.
Hoyd needs to be removed or Tim Gilmore needs to leave immediatley.
Not a good situation for Tim. I really feel sorry for him.

A little off this thread, but is one big reason why LA's program will we strong for the next few years.
Below is a letter written by Uncle Bob, at the time President of Wilson Booster Club;
“August 25, 2008
Letter from the President of the Booster Club Wilson High School;
This letter is regarding the gathering we (Booster Members) had on Wednesday, August 06, 2008; time approximately 6:30 p.m. The Boosters met to discuss what and who was going to purchase and prepare food for the luau for August 15.
The gathering took place at Teresa and Manual Chavez’s home. Prior to going to the gathering, I spoke to Teresa. She asked me if the gathering was an official meeting. I told, NO. We are only going to talk about and take care of matters regarding the August 15th BBQ.
All went well, until Coach Hoyd entered the gathering. Coach Hoyd wanted to declare the gathering as an official meeting. At that time, again I said no! Coach continued, trying to declare the gathering as an official meeting. I told him he had no right trying to do that.
In several of his statements that he made was very alarming to me. He wanted to remove me as the boosters’ president and Don Consiglio, as vice-president.
Then he offered me the football president position. I took offense to this, because, he gave me an alternate. “If I take the football president job, he will get me the snack shack back”. At that time I asked the boosters if anyone had anything else to say regarding the August 15th luau. They said no. I dismissed everyone and I left.
On August 12, 2008, boosters met for our regular (official) meeting. Everything was going well, until Coach Hoyd joined the meeting. Members asked Coach Hoyd if we had the snack shack back. He stated that if I would remove Lori Ramirez who was assigned to be head of the snack shack, we will get the snack shack back.
He asked me and Don Consiglio to go outside. Outside he continued the same old saying. I told him, we need a person like Lori Ramirez to be over the snack shack, because she comes with experience, knows what to buy and the needs of children and the people in the community.
The Coach’s action over the pass month is very appalling to me. I hope this matter is dissolved very soon.”
As of about 2 hours ago Uncle Bob is now the X-President of the Booster Club, Hoyd and his clan forced Uncle Bob and Don (Vice President) out of their positions on the board. This was a Hoyd’s move to take control of the Booster Club and all funds. I have also been handed every documents having to do with the booster club, with many very questionable expenditures. Hoyd may have control of the booster club, but he doesn’t have control of the IRS.
