Trib's Super 33: Amat takes back Valley

Rankings: No doubt Bishop Amat takes back the top spot with an easy win over Damien, and with a bye week, they can now get ready for next week's live Fox Sports showdown against Diamond Ranch. Charter Oak only drops one because of a tie, which is a good tie on the road at Rancho Cucamonga. South Hills remains at three with San Dimas moving up a notch to No. 4 and West Covina jumping to No. 5 with a big 28-21 win over Glendora. South El Monte jumps back in the top ten and Rowland makes its first appearance in our rankings in more than two years.

1. Bishop Amat (3-1)
What, are you surprised? Raise your hand if you thought the Lancers would be 3-1 with a good chance to go 4-1 or 5-1 over the next three weeks. Unbelievable. What's more impressive is what they're doing against San Gabriel Valley opponents. After watching West Covina lose to Bishop and beat Glendora, it makes what the Lancers are doing more impressive.
2. Charter Oak (3-0-1)
So they settled for a 14-14 tie at Rancho Cucamonga. It's not a win, but still a great result for the Chargers, who get another tester on Friday against Damien. Like South Hills, the Chargers always seem to get better as the season continues.
3. South Hills (2-1)
There was so much expected of South Hills that even a blowout win over Duarte doesn't seem that impressive. The early talk is that the Huskies need a better running game to back QB Cameron Deen. Let's see if Northview's improved defense can slow them down a bit.
4. San Dimas (4-0)
After thinking the Valle Vista was improved, I've wavered. I don't think anyone can touch the Saints in league, so Bonita has the best chance to give them a loss in the Smudge Pot next week. Yeah a chance, but it's not happening.
5. West Covina (3-1)
The Bulldogs are growing in confidence after Friday's win over Glendora, and everyone is talking about their big offensive line. With Ricky Johnson and a healthy Ili in the backfield, they can play with anyone. Um, except Bishop Amat of course.
6. Bonita (3-1)
The surprise wasn't that they beat Baldwin Park, but how easy they disposed of the Braves. This is the high-powered offense we expected when you have a Terry Paradez and a talented receiving crew. Now the key is consistency.
7. Glendora (1-2)
How far can you really drop the Tartans after losses to Upland and West Covina? They're legit, the breaks just aren't going their way at the moment. They should get backon track at West Ranch.
8. Rosemead (2-1)
I'm giving them a pass on the blowout loss at Harvard-Westlake. They didn't have suspended RB Tra Sumler, and it was a big step up in class. I'm really interested to see how they do against South Hills in two weeks.
9. South El Monte (2-1)
QB Jose Garay already has thrown for 606 yards and nine touchdowns, leading an offense averaging 42 points a game. They don't have to be the best defensive team in the Valley, but some defense would help.
10. Rowland (2-1)
This season's biggest surprise after knocking off Northview. They run the ball well and play defense, which is always the key. Look for them to be the team nobody wants to face in the San Antonio.

Rounding out the top 33: 11. Northview (2-1), 12. Diamond Ranch (1-3), 13. Diamond Bar (2-1), 14. Walnut (2-1), 15. Damien (1-3), 16. Western Christian (4-0), 17. Baldwin Park (2-1), 18. Azusa (3-1), 19. El Monte (2-1), 20. Pomona (2-1), 21. Workman (2-1), 22. Wilson (1-2), 23. Los Altos (0-3), 24. Covina (1-3), 25. Ganesha (2-2), 26. Bassett (1-3), 27. Arroyo (0-3), 28. Duarte (0-4), 29. Mountain View (1-3), 30. Nogales (0-3), 31. La Puente (0-4), 32. Sierra Vista (0-4), 33. Gladstone (0-4)

joe amat , can you be a bigger a hole, you should be banned from every blog other than ba wolf it down .com

"Withem Fan",

we ARE on the same page...

AGAIN!

You're message to Kyle and thoughts on the fight in the bleachers are right on.

You're question, "what would I do if I this were my son?" I *think* I know I would handle it... and I *think* I know how you would too, having similar values. The big "IF" that was referred to earlier would guide that, I think. In your classroom case it was clearly "teacher error". We go to battle for the kid by all means necessary. Been there done that.

On the other hand...

Anyway - I wish I was on my way to eat pizza at the Wharehouse. I hope everyone leaves stuffed for a good cause!

It doesn't really matter what I think, but ...

According to the California Health And Safety Code Section 11014.5

"Drug paraphernalia" means all equipment, products and materials of any kind
***which are designed for use or marketed for use***, in planting, propagating, cultivating, growing, harvesting,
manufacturing, compounding, converting, producing, processing, preparing, testing, analyzing, packaging, repackaging, storing, containing, concealing, injecting, ingesting, inhaling, or otherwise introducing into the human body a controlled substance in violation of this division.

That covers just about everything, doesn't it? Now to MY previous question...

Joe Amat

Tell me what you think Drug
Paraphernalia is under the guidelines of the civil code?

Here's the thing Joe I look at this problem and think, why the heavy handednes? Especially given the lack of control with regards to the baseball team coaches and teh alcohol and tobacco use. The parents fighting in the stands in plain view of administrators and the brushing away of any concrete punishment to EITHER school.

I've given this alot of thought and I come back to a simple thought. "what would I do if I this were my son?"

Every parent knows their kid. Or would like to think they do. Last week my youngest son recceived a progress report with a D in Religion for lack of homework and poor tests scores. I thought "this can't be right" He's a straight "A" student. So I check his scores on line....98% for his Religion class and that's his lowest score of 7 classes. HMMMM...that doesn't make ssense,

Seems their is a kid in the class with the a similar last name. It was a teacher error, Imagine that?

Sometimes the toughest part of being a parent is being a parent. Tina you have been a symbol of perserverance and have shown a great amount of love for your family...my heart goes out to you.

Kyle let this be a lesson in life. An extremely powerful and public lesson. Life is about challenges and learning from your mistakes. Did you think about that when you put yourself in that situation? Maybe the lesson here is to never take your mother's sacrifices for granted. She has suffered too much for you to hav eput her in this situation, reagrdless of how heavy handed the punishment is.

Not EVERYONE is as generous and understanding as those that support your mother. I know from personal experience how cruel people can be. But as my example has shown, my children reflect the values and person I really and not this blog.

Best of luck Kyle learning that your mother does not deserve to be in this situation...learn from this and make her proud. Everyone makes mistakes. I have you have everyone has. It's what you do after the eys are on you that tells people who you really are.

Tina...you are amazing. God bless you.

VIVA TINA,

Before I respond, are you saying the claim is he's NOT GUILTY of being "Under the Influence" or NOT GUILTY possession of "drug paraphernalia"?

Joe Amat

You do need to speak with an attorney. Civil Law will trump ED Code in court. The district responsibility “On campus vs. off” has been challenged in court both ways. Legislation is interrupted in court alot differently than you think. That’s why we have judges, to sort out the BS...

The athletic code is being followed and it works both ways. Kyle served his days for the rules broken. Find it in the Ed Code or Athletic Code where 10 weeks should be enforced in way the contact was written.

It’s a moot point because the kid is NOT GUILTY. That’s exactly why the civil code which everyone has to adhere too will prevail at the next level.

RIGHT THING,

I also agree with what you say.. Especially the last part!

I agree that it's a messy situation (as most discipline/legal matters are). The student/athlete I spoke of had his "indiscretion" happen off-campus as well.

I'm not a lawyer (but I did recently stay at a Holiday Inn Express!:?) but since you're talking about laws and codes, Education Code section 44807 establishes when school districts and their employees have a duty to supervise their pupils. It states:

“ Every teacher in the public school shall hold pupils to a strict account for their conduct ***on the way to and from school***, on the playgrounds, or during recess.

Some Districts, Schools, and Courts interpret that to mean that when the student leaves to go to school until the time they reasonably return home. If they *may be* liable, it would follow that they are also responsible and could levy discipline.

The San Dimas Athletic Code that you refer to and everyone signed also requires athletes to :

"**Follow district policies**, school rules and guidelines and team rules"

So the district rules trump the athletic rules. As you also say, sometimes the AD/Administration trumps the coach. I hope that you're not saying that because someones "definition" of narcotics doesn't include marijuana - that it means he should "get off" on that technicality? That may be why the Ed Code uses the phrase "drugs" instead of narcotics - which makes that point moot.

It is an unfortunate mess... but the best way for someone to stay out of that mess - would have been to not have the pipe in the first place.

Good luck to Kyle... many have overcome far worse.

It’s the only defense they cannot dispute. A Licensed Medical Doctor and a certified lab that been in business for years that operates out of San Dimas Hospitial. No “he said she said there” just facts…

The dog and pony show is almost over, and the final administrative step will soon be over, then the real pro’s take over..

The sad part of the Withem story is the lack of discretionary administrative "leeway". If you know the family and their story this is clearly a no brainer. And should have been handled differently. To the best of anyone's knowledge the school has acted in a heavy handed manner and kept the Withems going in circles.

In every school across the country, whether public or private, these tough administrative decisions are made. The underlining and mitigating factors are always considered. No rule or guideline is fast and furiously held without consideraion for the greater good. And no it doesn't lead to some moral or ethical breakdown.

Parents, administrators and students enter into a social and ethical contract. That contract is based on the best interest of the student, the school and and society at large.

I've been pretty close to this situation and seeing it up close is different than looking at it from a white and black typed page. They will keep Tina Withem and her family going in circles and will never consider the damage they are doing to them. Last year during the Bonita/San Dimas volleyball game school rules were broken. In fact the pictures the Tribune posted clearly show a criminal act taking place. NO ONE WILL DISAGREE WITH THOSE FACTS. Minors were involved and the school's campus ZERO TOLERANCE policy against violence was brushed under the table and the incident was handled with *DISCRETIONARY LEEWAY*

The school has acted with a heavy hand in Kyle's case. No one will argue that with any substance. They ask Kyle to take a drug test to prove his innocence. He passes with flying colors and now they have gone on record as questioning the validity of the test but have NOT offered to PERFORM the test themselves. Why?

People have made this about Kyle's playing ability. The school responds that "Kyle can always play Junior College football!" yes this is true but can Kyle ever clear his name IF in fact he is innocent of "being under the influence', which in fact he has.

Too bad the same heavy hand wasn't administered to those fighting parents who were never charged with any of their obvious crimes. Must be tougher being a kid in San Dimas tahn being an IDIOT DAD.

Joe Amat

The big question is "IF" and the coach did not dismiss the kid. He’s on a gag order, because who writes his check?

The kid paid the five days for the pipe; however he was accused of being under the influence which was completely false. The accusatory statements and false accusations are unbelievable in this case. Why would a kid have no problem offering up a drug test if he was guilty?

Also, the Athletic Code outlines 10 weeks suspension for Alcohol/Narcotics. When you enter into an athletic agreement, both sides are liable to follow the written document. What’s complicates this situation from a legal standpoint, this situation did not occur on campus. The kids were eating breakfast at a restaurant before school.

Also, according to the Substance Control Act Title 2 and FDA, Marijuana is not a narcotic. The district made numerous mistakes in this case and the attorney will react as soon as the final administrative option has expired.

They will have to present there case to the judge, and there evidence is VERY WEAK compared to the witnesses on behalf of Kyle

Sorry... I meant that "...Kyle, will do just fine..."

Best of luck

A year ago the Whithem story was inspiring and I’m certain that the kids are great kids. However, far too often these days do we automatically fail to support the schools and take the kids side when it comes to discipline. Now kids will be kids and they are going to make mistakes. I’ve said a bunch of times that I certainly hope I’m not judged by the things I did when I was 17. But….

The BEST things about participating in sports is the lessons that participants learn (many times without even knowing it) that last a lifetime. Unfortunately, not ALL of those lessons are pleasant ones. One of those lessons is clearly spelled out in the very “Athletic Code” that you speak of. That is :

“…that it is a **privilege** to participate in the athletic program, and (the athlete is) responsible for adhering to all of the rules that govern the program. If (the athlete) fails to follow any part or all of these rules, (the athlete) understand that he/she will be subject to suspension or dismissal from the team as decided by the coach. Coaches are responsible for setting and enforcing all of the rules for the program. …”

We had a situation not too long ago, where a student/athlete, violated rules (and potentially laws). That student/athlete HAD to be held accountable and NOT to issue discipline/sanctions would be major disservice. That student/athlete had to leave school. Period. If we make a mistake and that mistake is not recognized – how do we ensure that we won’t make the same mistake again.

It seems as though there isn’t much of a choice in this particular matter (if there really was possession) drugs or not. Not just in the San Dimas Handbook (where it outlines the suggested disciplinary procedure when there is “Possession of drug paraphernalia **containing no drug**” and treats it about the same as if there is a drug involved), but in the California Ed. Code 48900 (Drug paraphernalia is defined in Section 11014.5 of the Health and Safety Code) If a 5-day suspension comes with a 10-week suspension with drugs, it would follow that it also would for paraphernalia without drugs. It seems as though they are following progressive discipline and their general guidelines. They also have some leeway at the discretion of the administrator. They seem to be treating this as a "second-offense" which doesn't have to be a "second-offense" of the same type. It could be second-offense of any disciplinary matter, but since those matters should remain private - only they know.

So it appears that the 10-week athletic suspension, unfortunately, is exactly what all of the written rules appear to lead to. Regardless of who the offending party is. The positive things is that mistakes/failure is not fatal. The student/athlete I spoke of is doing just fine. I’m sure that Brian will to… if he takes this as a wake-up call and puts in the appropriate effort.

I guess the Smudge-"Pot" game has a new meaning to it with the Whithem's Scandal.

Outsider

Go onto SanDimasHigh.com and read the athletic code. They have no grounds for ten week suspension based upon the agreement that every athlete and parent signs prior to playing. He wasn't under the influence, or in the possession of any drug.

Football is important, but this kid record is just as important

Now, the attorney knows what he is doing but won’t play his hand. Once the final Administration Option is over, the big boys step in….

You know what sucks> Even if the court or whoever decides to side with Kyle. which they should. It probably would not take place till after football season. That Sucks.

DO THE RIGHT THING:
Arey you saying he had a pipe on him but no drugs and a test came back clean? this kid is getting ripped! How can people help and show the support to this kid? I understand about the 5 day suspension but where does it come in for them to kick him off the team.

MANTECA=LARD,

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH... WE GOT A LITTLE RACIST PIGGY HERE.( FAT MEXICAN)! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I'M MEXICAN? BECAUSE I GO BY THE NAME AZTEC PRIDE??? REMINDER, THAT'S THE SCHOOLS NAME! AND I JUST FIGURED I WOULD USE IT AS MY BLOG NAME! NOW LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, BEING MEXICAN IS NOT!!! A BAD THING. BECAUSE I AM MEXICAN! AND DON'T APPRECITE YOUR IGNORANT,RACIST COMMENT THAT YOU JUST POSTED HERE, AND I'M TRYING TOO BE AS CIVIL AS I CAN. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT (PIGGY), WHAT STRIKES ME FUNNY IS, HOW WOULD YOU KNOW (MANTECA IS LARD)BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT MOST HISPANICS USE???

IT'S TIME TO GET OFF THIS KIDDIE BLOGGING!

NO RESPECT HERE!

Hey King stud that's the second time you went for the homophopic jab, Are you asking Aztec Pride to mimic your King Stud? Stud being banana choker? Dude you keep peeking out of the closet. Closets are for clothes.

King Stud it's "Raining MEN!!!!! "...who in their right mind connect Pride with Gay Pride? Baahaaa...oh I get it like when you're bent over in that sheepish pose of yours.....baaaa haaaa amat suuuuccccckkkksssss....now it all makes sense.

Hey...ummmm..sorry dude.

Hey anyone care for a Whittman sampler? talking chocolates here..bahahhah

Aztec pride more like Manteca pride with all those fat mexicans that live there. all you deep fryers.

Aztec Pride
I was refering to you running smack about Azusa. I don't think anyone else would run smack about a football team that hasn't done crap in years. You have a good team record wise this year and I know you are proud of the kids but I don't think football fans in the SGV take Azusa seriously.
I have to admit something. Every time I see that name Aztec Pride I can't help but think of a parade in West Hollywood, San Franciso or maybe even Laguna Beach. Maybe you should change your name to Aztec Stud! baa haa

pot pipe of Meth pipe? Hope niether but I also hope not the second one.

San Dimas do not take pomona Lightly if you do you will lose! they have speed to the outside and a big back for the inside. not really alot of depth but this is high school. I Personaly think Pomona was the best team we played (player for player) this year. call me crazy but hey have a really good set of skill players and a decent line. south hills would beat them just off of size alone, but Please don not let them slip under the Radar.

First of all, the Whitmans are a great family and Kyle is a great kid. As some of you may have forgotten, kid’s makes mistakes and its how they learn from them is what really makes them better. This is a family that has been thru more than some of you could imagine. They have come thru thick and thin and sometimes more thin than thick. Just go back and read Fred’s feature article on this family last year. Now, Kyle made some mistakes and already paid his dues. The rest of the stuff is just BS!

The Whitman’s are handling the matter the right way. At the end of the day, it shouldn’t matter what “He said or she said” only the facts that have are presented in a professional matter. That’s the problem with the Bonita Unified; they conduct business like ridiculous bureaucrats. The parties involved may try to discredit the professionals that have produced the “Factual Data” but the facts are that district officials have NO EXPERIENCE or the EDUCATONAL background in the field. After you have exhausted all your administration opinions, just take it to a higher court. At the end of the day, the evidence will support this kid’s innocence beyond a reasonable doubt.

As far as the coach, who do you think writes his checks? The system… at its worst…Bureaucrats!

Sometimes the community needs to come together in the best interest of an innocent young man. Rules are meant to be followed, but that surely goes for the ones who wrote the rules too!

Floor is Yours:

I try to be objective and direct as far as Damien is concerned, thanks.

One of Damien's historic strengths WAS its tendency towards innovation on both sides of the ball. Larson was quite skillful at this, especially with his offense and the numerous formations he ran---ask any D-coordinator that had to prepare against him.

Pasqy even brought his own variations of this concept, with lots of success---especially when he had sub-par talent like in his first two years.

Now, the offense is elementary, and extremely predictable. Morrison's love of the "spread" offense limits his options, and it ends up with his QB running for his life.

Defensively, they lack team
lack team speed, most notably on the line (add the O-line to this notion aswell).

It's going to take an overhaul of major proportions to get back on track, and a more aggressive, win focused coach. I have a few possibilities that I think would work out for Damien, but these are of NO value, given that Travers would never fire a guy he hired.

Typical public school fan,
Don't send your kids to public school, they spend their free time watching adult movies and try to make comparisons to real life.

G-money, Kng stud;

You must be mistaken,I don't see were the AZUSA fans are coming in here talking smack? Their's not even one posted blog from a AZUSA fan here? so what are you talking about? The only person who's been sayin anything about AZUSA is FRED! So take your issues up with him. AZUSA has a new coach who is doing an outstanding job and is having a good year, so why don't you cut them some slack. Better yet why don't you come out and watch a game, and see for yourself's what FRED, has been talking about. Hey these newspaper guy's just don't make things up man. I know AZUSA is not a powerhouse school, and they talk about the MONTVIEW LEAGUE is garbage, but tell that to LA PUENTE, when they were the CHAMPIONS last year, those seniors were happy! Should be a good game against LA PUENTE this Friday!

Hey G, for the rematch against GANESHA, you'll have to wait next year!

AZTEC PRIDE!

What the San Dimas school district will not talk about is the clean drug test that was administered to prove Kyle's innocence.

That's a tough hurdle for San Dimas High School to overcome. They will dance around peripheral issues to ignore and esacape that glaring reality. How do you get by the clean test? Well you question the validity and professionalism of the administrating doctor and lab? Will they sue for slander? Questioning a Dr.'s integrity is the fastest way to empty your check book!

After all this family has been through and the way the Withem boys have contributed to the school and the team you would think some one at the District level would see the big picture. Maybe the players should consider not playing in the SmudgePot Bowl or wearing his number on their helmets. Team mates stick together, friends stick together and the first step to being a man is standing up for what's right.

No drugs and a clean drug test means a big lawsuit on the horizon. The regrettable events could have all been avoided IF the school would have not acted so heavy handed. I really put a lot of the blame on Coach Z for not speaking on Kyle defense especially after the clean drug test cleared him of the most serious charge, drug possesion. Where is the Christian model of trust, honor and forgiveness Coach?

The toughest part of leadership is being able to stand up for those that can not afford to stand up for themselves.

And that, in my opinion, is the biggest problem. The Withems have no money to fight this in court. Or so the District thinks. Friends have put forth the funds to fight this in court. Kyle will have his day in court and the "ownership" issue will be placed at the feet of San Dimas High and their student handbook and athletic contract guidelines will be enforced appropriately and fairly.

In this case Kyle came up clean, As he has said so from day one. That took tremendous courage. The Withems are not asking for a bending of the rules they are asking for the enforcement of the rules and nothing more.

Hopefully cooler heads prevail and someone with INTEGRITY takes a stand for decency and fair play.

Hang in their KYLE!

k stud.. who is ur squad?

THE BEST RUNNING BACKS?

1.POMONA..#4,#7,#9,#2
2.SAN DIMAS..#44,#6
3.DUARTE..#22,#8,#21
4.ROSEMEAD..
5.DIAMOND RANCH..#5,#3,#22
6.BONITA..#8
7.WILSON..#3
8.BISHOP AMAT..#20
9.WEST COVINA..#3

Pomona smack in football? Now thats funny. It's almost as funny as Azusa smack. Every year Pomona does well in pre season then loses their ass in league. They will be lucky if they can get into the playoffs after league.

Nice see people are copying my suckssss. I should have gotten that phrase copywrited.

why is Northview,El monte,Diamond Ranch,Diamond Bar,Azusa,Walnut,Baldwin Park,Western Christian and Rowland ahead of POMONA? Pomona would beat all of these teams..Azusa should be #24 and I bet in a rematch with Ganesha they would lose!Azusa is not a bad football team but they are not great..Look for POMONA to be 5-1 going into the San Dimas game which will be the game of the week...everybody is talking about Bonita vs. San dimas(may i add the saint lose this one by 3)and Diamond Ranch vs. Bishop Amat(score will be BA 52-DR 13)..but DR has one of the best RB in the SGV and IE in #5 i think he is a jr,taking the back seat to the sr.#3... #5 runs hard and gets up field if DR wants to make a run at the league title he need to start and get at least 22 carries per game.all im saying is i had a chance to observe most of the teams play and the top 5 teams that stood out to me the most were #1 POMONA,#2 ROWLAND,#3 WESTERN CHRISTIAN,#4 NORTHVIEW,#5 WALNUT..and others are..WILSON, DUARTE(b oth teams will win league and have 2 great RB's in GILMORE & CANADA)

Take Ownership,

Careful, this kind of situation could easily fall on your or anybody else's hands. If it falls on yours, you better hope you know the rules/law, and not just sit back and let them throw the whole kitchen sink at you.
Get all the facts straight before you comment again!

9 more days to 'SMUDGEPOT'

GO SAINTS...GO KYLE!!

TakeOwnership

The kid and parents took ownership. Five day supsension as outline in the ED code.

The problem is not the pipe, its the 10 weeks from football where the school has NO GROUNDS.

Get inside the facts before you talk s--- and read the ED Code and SDHS Atheltic Code.

About the Withem thing. How about a parent and a kid taking ownership of poor actions. The kid had a pipe on him. If my kid got caught with any type of crap like that, I would support the school and worry about getting the kid some actual help rather than trying to make excusses for him and blamming others. Take ownership and have some common sense.

Old Timer Says:

> Red & Black WCHS "Bulldogs" are a farce...
should be Blue & White "Spartans", just as God intended...

> There is no such thing as "Bishop"... it's "Ahh-MAT"

> Forget Charter Oak "Chargers"...everyone knows they're the "Lancers"

> Bring back EDGEWOOD and ROYAL OAK!!

> Once upon a time, the Claremont WOLFPACK rocked...what happened?

> This year The Covina Colt is 110 years old. RESPECT!

> East SGV teams really SHOULD play West SGV teams in non-league...

> This will not be a good year for ESGV teams in the playoffs...no one in the finals of any division

Peace OUt!

I thought BBG was pretty mild compared to the two posts he was responding too. So is that typical of what the rest of the valley puts out?

Bleeds Pis- and Shi-, does not mean you are off this week with amat not playing this week? Makes no sense at all amat grad. I guess you Raider fans will still be at the grass field of Keifer Friday nite rehershing your next tailgate only so you can pop open some more beer. Ridiculous you amat fans. Your team is not playing this week and you blowhards are hard up to see them play a lower scale team like DRANCH so it can make you all feel giddy about winning. Read your todays Tribune your coach Hagerty puts it best, in a roundabout way those games vs WC and Damien mean absolutely nothing, he wants to win the 2 out of 3 in league, when and if you get by Crespi Loyola and ND then jump in this Blog and talk your smack. When the final curtain falls on your season and you are on the outside looking in at the playoffs, again this blog is going to rip your BBG as-. go on now Biff-ster and run out to Orange Ave. and yell "we are amat" loser. go 6-1 and get ranked #1 by the Tribune, you are going 0-3 in league, count on it.

Bleeds Blue And Gold.
Typical Amat Fan with that last one. That is why you do not want to send your kids to Amat. Look what they turn out.

COJO

This isn't JAA Football and little James will be running for his life..

Get ready to rumble, were coming to cause PAIN..

Sucks,
That was too easy, it the hole you eat out of.

AMAT 73,

We are on the same page, coach H didn't put this schedule together the last coach did. I see this coach only putting one of the top SGV teams on his schedule in the future just for some good old local hype and recruiting. SMART.

sucksssss,
Get a grip there buddy. We win a few games and the hate really starts to boil in your veins. By the way I don't believe any of the AMAT faithful have started talking CIF as a reality but only a possibility if we can continue to improve and play solid football. As far as baseball at least wait until football is over before you start barking up that tree.

checkingin, must have been someone else. it's so rare to get an honest opinion out of that school without getting your head handed to you. what do you see as Damien's strenghts and weaknesses? some think this team might be a late bloomer? any thoughts?

Hey DHS if you believe the blogs you wont show up on friday. Have they not heard the expression "any given Sunday" Ask the players , they cant wait for friday. DHS Qback played with Charger kids in Jr All American and Charter Oak Youth Baseball. James G knows Evan Williams #56, Tyler Peri #18, Chris Allen #10 and Matt Chan #50. It's old home week, let the best team win and stay safe.

BBG,
0-3 1-2 in league. Get ready to relive and brag about your football teams 6-1 start while getting ready for your D5 baseball team to take the field. Lets see "We could of______?" "well we should have________"? "We didn't _____? fill in all those blanks for why you did not make CIF in football. Grammar lesson: it is Myself talking Smack vs Me talking smack...your parents paid how much for that Amat private school edjumacation... By the way I did find a comparison to you in my DVD collection "Bleeds Black and Blue" well I wont mention the cavity on your body but I am sure attending Amat you can figure it out right?

Party's Over,

Say what?

I think if you read back in my previous posts, I've been quite "real" as to the Damien situation.

I've had no change of heart--and you can keep your map and compass. I've stated several times the reality of Damien's coaching, and my perception of their downside. There's been no sugar-coating of anything from my end.

What I see, is what I write and right now, Damien doesn't have much.

I honestly do not see what the big deal about Damien High is. Granted, they are noble in that they play some top notch teams year after year. But the truth is that Damien High has never been a football school. They've excelled in other sports but football has never been one of them.

Why in world do you think they were placed in a public school league to begin with?

checkingin....aren't you about 3 years too late to this glaring reality? what was it that tipped you off? the coaches with no presvious varsity level experience, the p*ss poor fundamentals taught at the lower levels, the mounting injuries, the fact that at every level the coaches teach different terminology, offenses and defenses, the lack of a weight lifting year round program, the lack of varsity wind sprints during the season this year, the fact that the JV coach cuts out early to smoke cigarrettes on campus, the fact that we've had 4 offensive coordinators in 6 years, the fact that everyone is related somehow and that's their only qualification for the job, the fact that the defensive coordinator has a defense that gives up an average of 23 points a game for 4 years, the fact that more than half of morrison's wins are against league doormats DB and Ayala, the fact that damien still does not have a TE catch more than 10 passes all year and averages 6 or less during morrison's 6 year tenure, the fact that there hasn't been a QB coach isince chavez was shown the door 5 yrs ago in spite of the fact that damien runs the spread offense, the fact that damien has no running back coach today or ever, no wr coach, no lb or db specific coach unless you count carroll jr who is spread way too thin, or that the special teams coach is completely unqualified for the job and every team has taken avantage of him since Ayala exposed him last year, Amat really exposed him this year, or the fact that pursuit angles at damein look like a U 10 ayso bee hive, the fact that 95 out of 110+ freshmen routinely stand around for 75% of their practices doing nothing and wasting away, the fact that the green and gold teams are a foormat joke and only the starters and second strings from the 1st team ever play in either game, or maybe it was the fact that now your kid is a senior varsity player and getting his butt whupped for lack of everything mentioned above. now you see the light. this season might be the worst football practiced, conditioned and coached team I have ever seen. the pity is every player would do anything to be successful yet they will be embarassed again and again like they were at amat if nothing changes. it's ironic that the best coach on that staff isn't even listed in the program but has a headset on in the tower during games. who is he?
checkingin here's a flashlight, a map, a book and a compass. start at the beginning and look back at some of your previous supportive comments over the years concerning damein's coaching staff. why the change? anyone who has every played football will tell you this has gone on long enough. where is morrison's staff of former players? amat sucker punched damien with that contract. the best players will leave or look elsewhere. carroll sr. has to step down. he sits on that cart, which should never be on the field, and time and again players are almost injured. this year one player actually had to be ambulanced from the field after almost breaking his back hitting the Carroll's cart. coach carroll sr. you have been a great leader over the years i'm sure but this is not the way you want to be remembered is it? everyone has to know when it's time to leave the party. lights are dimming on a great career consider. stepping aside for the good of the school would be in kids best interest. now if we could get sarah palin to do the same maybe we could keep a republican in the white house.

sucks,
You stupid fool, I have some news for you, I didn't set the schedule and I don't know if Hagerty did either. He could have inherited it from the previous staff. It is what it is.

Me talking smack? You really are stupid, I take them a game at a time and as far as being "#1", I could care less. I'd rather Fred just took us off the list altogether.

Now go back to your DVD collection and find more comparisons.

To Joey Soto,

The CIF association rule was a sham to begin with and I doubt it will affect football much. We were the only section in California that had the rule, so the Southern Section became less competitive. The whole idea that coaches will now make a lot of money is ridiculous.

well in regards to Damiens recruiting situation they are not allowed too. Baecause they are in a league which there is all public school.

jfr,
Did it ever occur to you that the schools you mention on our schedule came to us to schedule the game. Maybe they saw the tailspin we were in and figured now was the time to play AMAT when we are down . Maybe their chances of beating us looked good at the time not realizing the administration would finally wake up and get us a very good head coach. You never know they just might opt out of next years games by seeing that we have turned around and we will not be same team they thought they scheduled. As Hags stated these types of games do not get us ready for league but they do go a long way towards gathering local talent.

The Damien situation is right there with the problematic Raiders of the NFL.

Poor coaching (at ALL levels), riding on prior glories, and a reluctance to admit mistakes and move on (Fr. Travers would never admit that his selection of Morrison has run its course).

What can you say about a head coach who's satisfied getting "smoked" in the pre-season games, with focus on league. I don't think it works that way.

Winning is contagious--and when you don't, you don't expect to.

When the final curtain falls on your season and you are on the outside looking in at the playoffs, again this blog is going to rip your BBG as-. go on now Biff-ster and run out to Orange Ave. and yell "we are amat" loser. go 6-1 and get ranked #1 by the Tribune, you are going 0-3 in league, count on it.

r u serious ??,

FYI - OLu is Division 1/Pac-5 and was the #7 team in the state when Amat beat them 47-39 (outscoring them 47-18...after spotting OLu 21pts). Their "close loss" was to Los Osos 20-24...and BTW, LO was the ranked #30 in the state to open the season.

... THE ONLY TEAM THEY BEAT BY A CLOSE SCORE WA O.L. ... AND IT WAS BY A CLOSE SCORE .. AND O.L IS A DIV 3 TEAM .. AMAT HAS NOT TAKEN THE VALLEY BACK YET AND GOT MY MONEY ON DR TO SHOW THEM WAT'S GOOD THIS FRIDAY ...

R U SERIOUS
Orange Lutheran is a DIV I School and is in the Trinity League......

i agree.. if you want to help kyle than do it the right way. im sure if he was falsely accused than his family/friends needs to take action the right way. he is one heck of a player that should be able to play if he was wrongfully accused. Please tell me at least the coach believes him and is on his side?

Fred and or Steve...
I want your opinion(s) on a situation...CIF has now approved a rule that coaches can have 100% contact with their team memebers year round! The only dead period is still in August. I want to thank the Administrators, Principals, AD's, etc for now making high school sports a "business"...coaches will now be making athletes "choose" a sport with the threat of...if you're not here...you don't start! Watch the scramble! CIF has even approved practices on Sunday's...what ever happen to seperation of Church and State...the reason I heard the rule of non-contact out of season was changed was because CIF became tired of having to up-hold this rule was because "everybody was breaking the rule"...what a "cop-out" start firing coaches...put the school's on probation for infractions..no playoff competition..etc...If you are anyone who knows high school athletics does not think that this is a problem...go see a psychologist...how has athletics now taken a front seat to education!

LAWSUIT..

Let's not start throwing our business all over the place. Look at where it got Wilson..nowhere but making everybody look classless. If your looking to help Kyle, do it right. Your post sounds like you're frustrated and out of control.

Kyle is innocent of Mr. Worthington's accusations. Let's help him, not hurt him.

Any suggestions, please post.

When are you going to institute a spell checker program for this blog? Get the tech geeks at the trib to work on this. Reading this atrocious spelling starts to hurt the eyes after a while.

Laughed my ass off at the Biff from back to the future reference. Too funny.

Damien Insider

I think the Damien situation is a sad one. They have the ability to recruit like an amat team but yet seem to fall short year after year. Even when Pasqy was there wasn't the deepest Damien got in the playoffs the second round? Maybe a Spartan fan knows the answer.

I honestly doubt Morrison was talking crap about CO. He's got a 1-3 team whose been blown out in all 3 losses. He's got bigger worries.

I still think Damien needs a major upgrade at coach. They haven't had a good one there since Dick Larson left. By the way you were never in the Amat game. I think you are drinking the same coolaid that FC's been consuming.

Paulie wants a cracker,
Just because the team is off this week doesn't mean we are. You are better off posting reviews of your DVD collection than saying anything worthwhile here.

JFR,

You're right - Amat's pre-league schedule this year, while difficult and still one of the toughest around (CalPreps ranks it as the 10th toughest of the Top 40 teams in the State, MaxPreps-8th), is nowhere near as tough as the one that they endured a year ago.

Playing in the 4-team Serra League (which CalPreps ranks as the toughest in California - even over the Trinity league) and creates an interesting dynamic when it comes to scheduling. Typically playoff caliber teams have a couple of bottom feeders in league like Wilson, Nogales, or Ganesha (although sincere HUGE props for their improvement this season!). This makes your 10-game schedule a little reasonable. If you consider that these local games may replace a couple of those kinds of teams, and are MUCH tougher at the same time - it makes the schedule a bit more manageable.

Plus it obviously allows for the relative comparisons needed to overcome the local propaganda. Unless Amat wins big (8-2, 9-1, etc) and goes deep in the playoffs, the knock will always be that teams like South Hills and Charter Oak achieve more in the playoffs... even though Amat plays in a "tougher division" (your words at 6:54 PM).

The comparison allows us to quiet that ... just a bit.

Ya we own Damien!! Common how do you think Damien has a shot? We beat them once in the past 6 years that should count for something. It does bother me though that even when they have had crappy teams and we were hyped up they still beat us... by double digits. Go CO!!

INSIDER GO TO BED NOW, IT'S MUCH TOO LATE FOR YOU. DAMIEN WILL LOSE ON FRIDAY! YOU KNOW IT, AND THE REST OF THE SGV KNOWS IT! DAMIEN HAS WON ONE GAME, COME ON NOW! YOUR WASTING BLOG SPACE HERE. MAYBE YOU CAN DREAM ABOUT WINNING TONIGHT. THE RANKING MUST HAVE YOU CONFUSED, DUHHH... I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY YOUR RANKED OVER ~GANESHA~

Coach Morrison has gone on record saying this week at practice and insinuating for months that there's absolutely no way we can or will get by Charter Oak. He has felt for a long time Charter Oak was the easiest team on their preseason schedule and they always expect to beat Charter Oak convincingly. I also realized another one of his points makes sense and that is Charter Oak's supremacy of beating Damien years ago was when Pasqy was their head coach not since Morrison has been there. We are guaranteeing a Spartan victory! Far too physical for them Chargers! Let's be honest we were in the Bishop Amat game and their not everything everyone is saying they are regardless...

Sort of reminds of Ohio State Vs. USC

I know the Damien-CO game is highly favored CO's way.. but let us not forget that Damien has not lost to CO since 2004. Even though Damien blows this year, they seem to have a mental edge over the Chargers

FAN, IF YOU WENT TO AMAT I RETRACT MY LAST KUDOS TO THE SCHOOL. You guys have bounced back this year and are obviously very good. But remember this, outside of beating OL "great win" you beat WC, Damien and are going to kill DR. Outside of your league, your schedule might be the weakest of all time compared to the great teams of the past.

DUDE EVERYONE STOP HATING ON AMAT! JUST BECAUSE YOUR TEAM ISNT NUMBER ONE DNT DOWN THEM. THEY HAVE WORKED REALLY HARD TO GET WHERE THEY ARE AT RIGHT NOW. AND DID U FORGET THAT AMAT IS THE ONLY TEAM THAT HAS BEATEN ORANGE LUTHERAN AS OF NOW AND THERE AVERAGING CLOSE TO 40 POINTS A GAME. SO JUST BE HAPPY FOR THEM. IF ANYTHING YOU GUYS SHOULD BE HAPPY THAT YOU HAVE A GOOD D-1 TEAM IN THE VALLEY TO SHOW WHAT THE SGV IS ALL ABOUT

tacing nothing away from south hills but i excepcted so much more. There where hugh up front and had very good defence but there offence struggled to score a in the first quarter i mean quarterback sack and runs for losses. i just thought it would be big play after big play. it was not that at all. there a very good team, i just thought i was going to see the 07 patriots. We could not score on there defence. they played there starting O - D until the fourth quarter. those last three td's came in grabge time. no real big plays there skill postions are average but there line and and backers are very good. if you dont belive me go to maxpreps and check the stats.

ATTN, We should all be proud because BA is the SGV! They get the best players who's parent's are willing to pay for an education. Do I like BA, NO. But this is why America is GREAT, We have the right to choose. I am a CO fan but realize that BA should be #1. I would much rather win CIF than be compared to BA who plays in a tougher division.

the truth usually does!

geee, that really hurts

amnot-no one is a bigger fool on this blog than you. I'm sure that's unanimous among all other bloggers.

Take this to heart, it is better to remain silent and let everyone think you're a fool - than to post and remove all doubt!

Why didn't you take your own advice, lil Joe?

fred
u better watch ur words theres one thing predicting scores theres another saying that there no chance because bonita might the underdog but were comming to play if bonit doesnt win big it will at least be close
and are u gonna put an article about smudgepot like last year that would be really cool

Man JOE, I didn't know this blog had spell check? WHO KNEW???

Thanks JOE! I see you have AMATS back. Joe, I may have you look at my resume to correct my writing, or maybe I should take a class on (JOE'S CREATIVE WRITING 101), when blogging. JOE, please go over my nice little message I left for you, and correct were I wrote (JOE BLOWS!)

two funnie, oops, too funny
what's with the ****is he seeing stars?

amat #14(where it really matters)

thanks for clarifying... I was worried for a minute!

Joe Amat
I was being sarcastic with the Walnut take. We know Walnut has a easy non league Schedule and then gets the Shi- kicked out of them come league going against WC,SH and Rowland not to mention Bonita as a non league game in the middle of all that. 4-5 team at best for Walnut. Maybe next year for the Stangs. Actually the game to see is CO vs Damien or just stay home and watch Saugus play Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. I will pick Saugus with the upset. Angels Redsox on that nite as well.

just say no to drugs.....

Now, i will admit it is a funny feeling having DB and Walnut ranked ahead of Damien, but your Spartans have lost 3 of 4 games right? They are certainly not marching through their non-league schedule like a team on a mission....in fact, in would seem as though, they have lost their way..........Damien's ranking probably isnt to far from where they finished last season, a solid 7 through 10 spot on the poll? i dont remember, would i do remember is that they always get whacked pretty damn quick in the playoffs and between the three supposed Sierra League "powerhouses" (Chino Hills, Damien, and Gelndora)---none of 'em have even made a semi-final appearance these last 6 years have they???

So, your starting out of the gate slowly, some non BCS teams are ahead of you.....relax, the cards will play themselves out here soon enuf, and you will most likely be getting your one and done shot at the playoffs again. Incredibly weak for a parochial school of your mythical stature---your boys havent won it all since disco was still the rage......Swallow your ranking on the poll with the pride and poise you claim to have....dont be dissin' others for rising out of the ash and making a run at the top ten....dont be a hater....until then my Salesian friend.....we all look forward to your seasick green and piss yellow colors in Nov....

:)

It's clear that "AMAT ALUMNI" is NOT an Amat alumnus.

That's why he's the subject of the wrath of myself, BB&G and 2DN.

You're right the Lancers will be chomping at the bit for a week. But to go see "...hardcore team like Walnut...."

did you seriously just write that?

just wondering
"loose" should be "lose". lol. hey, i'm just having fun as i read through all these. you guys are quite entertaining. can't wait for to see a game this week.

It must be a Amat bye week they are all fighting with each other here on the Blog. Starting With LancerTOO DN with Amat Alumni Correcting him..then Joe Amat blasting Amat alumni. now BBG in the hunt for action...TO TOO FUNNY. you amat fans hard up for a game go see a hardcore team like Walnut play. Yeah that will get your juices flowing for Diamond Ranch...or go plan your tailgate menu for the week. of course beer first on the market list.

Im still waiting on the top 5 player per position list going into league. Now that the B.S. is over with non league games and new faces are emerging it would be nice to get a little recognition.

Paulie wants a cracker,
We wouldn't know about that. We don't watch that kind of trash but it sounds more like your speed. Seems like your hand must have been thru quite a workout during the show.

When you have someone who will blog in and correct your grammar and critique your writing and that is all they have on you must mean that they hated your post and you got under their skin because they are Amat haters. Amat Alumni who wrote this I doubt is a Amat alumni. He is (too)Ahahahaha to ignorant to ever be associated with Bishop Amat. Again We Are Amat!

AMAT ALUMNI,

you remind of that girl Beth in that adult movie called "Backdoor to the future"

Hey Joe, do you work at all? Man you sure do have a lot of computer time. Your probaly a government employee, or
