Tribskin Pick'em, your predictions and ours

Note: The Tribune's 2008 football tab comes out on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Enjoy!

Steve Ramirez and I will go head-to-head throughout the season, and I will update our records each Monday on the Tribskin Pick'em thread.

Thursday, Sept. 4th
Azusa at Ganesha, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Azusa), Ramirez (Azusa)

Friday, September 5th
Covina vs. Bonita at District Field, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Bonita); Ramirez (Bonita)
Bishop Amat at Los Osos, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Los Osos); Ramirez (Los Osos)
Los Altos at San Dimas, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (San Dimas); Ramirez (San Dimas)
Muir vs. Diamond Ranch at Ganesha, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (DRanch); Ramirez (DRanch)
Charter Oak at Aliso Niguel, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Charter Oak), Ramirez (Charter Oak)
Rancho Cucamonga at Damien, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Rancho); Ramirez (Damien)
El Rancho at West Covina, 7 p.m. - Robledo (West Covina); Ramirez (West Covina)
Ayala at Duarte, 7 p.m. - Robledo (Ayala); Ramirez (Ayala)
Western Christian vs. Gladstone at Citrus College, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (WChristian); Ramirez (Gladstone)
Gabrielino at La Puente, 7 p.m. - Robledo (La Puente); Ramirez (La Puente)
Workman at Mountain View, 7 p.m. - Robledo (MView); Ramirez (Workman)
Bassett at Buena Park, 7 p.m. - Robledo (Buena Park); Ramirez (Buena Park)
Glenn at Sierra Vista, 7 p.m. -- Robledo (Sierra Vista); Ramirez (Sierra Vista)

Fred's Thoughts: Steve beat me by one game on the final day of the season, then picked California Pizza Kitchen for lunch, on me of course. That's not happening this year. Most intriguing game is San Dimas-Los Altos. If L.A. wins, they jump right back in our top ten, but that's like predicting UCLA over Tennessee. Guess ya never know even though I like the Saints, and like them big-time. Bishop Amat would have had a better chance on the road, but without Isaiah Bowens (broken foot), who the L.A. Times rated as one of the top linebackers in the Southland. Charter Oak-Aliso Niguel is close to a toss-up; will Duarte compete with Ayala and of course Muir-Diamond Ranch, a genuine Southeast Division playoff preview.

dubb}trathree, i'm impressed! You predicted the outcome out of every game! You were right on, and did better than Fred and Steve!

I'll be looking for your predictions every week now.

Hopefully you'll get AZUSA'S correct every week!

AZTEC PRIDE!

Amat will be even par this season ... will not make the playoffs ... too much delay

Ok, my bad .... Nico is playing for SD .. kk leave me alone .... whiskey is my worse enemy ... but still ... WTF is a BEARCAT?!??

No Way ... Bonita returns Nico ... but Covina's O-line is fantastic ... Covina wins a thriller, 22-19

amat at 4-6? baa haa. they will be lucky to win one game with that schedule. try 0-10

Hey COJO, happy fallsport season.

I'm thinking Chargers by a couple of TD's.

Aliso Niguel is on the bottom of the South Coast League's food chain but the Pac-5 is the Pac-5; I hear they have a “for real” second year QB back along with a potential D1 TE and a few of your routine type OC bigazz linemen.

Gotta love the Chargers; most folks are sick of me writing about Tyler and Evan so I will boost my boy Patrick and Clap-on-Clap-off as the next generation of “look outs” for Miramonte QB's, (although I bet the D backfield might cause a few concerns, especially early). Allen will do his usual solid job while the thrills and chills will be provided by young Mr. Muema but I suspect that Dom has some reservations about some of his big boys and receivers. Don't be surprised if C O opens up the O a little more this year and lets Chris air it out, (which will make Dad way happy).

A C O vs S H playoff game could well be in the cards. The new SE Division is great for local football.

DON, where are you? How do you figure CO/Aliso? You lookin for CO/SH matchup post season? We look good coming out, but who knows what fortune awaits us. I quit bloggin after some idiot used my moniker and rapped some race trash. Good luck.

4 wins for Amat this year.

West Covina
Diamond Ranch
Damien
St. Francis

4-6 season. One win better then last season.

I guess that is slight improvement

Team in that list are: Crespi, Notre Dame, Loyola, Los Osos, Orange Lutheran. Ranked ahead of Bishop Amat which is not on that list. If they lose all of those then it is a for sure 5-5 team. Chaminade and St. Francis are no pushovers either, so consequently Amat could be facing another bad year unless they are talent wise and coaching wise as good as they say they are. This season could end up worse then last season. Stay tuned.

just saw the la times top 25. wow, it's amazing how many predicted top teams amat plays this year. i have to agree with several other posters, no other school in the sgv could or even would attempt to handle such a schedule. should be exciting for the lancers. they are up for the challenge.

FRED...where is the "game of the week". Where will you bed on Friday?

TEAM SAINTS are ready! 4 years of growing into this massive playing machine! The BOYZ have become 1 UNIT!

Los Altos, all we ask is you bring your game.

SD 34 LA 14

About time! Let's play some FOOTBALL!!!

GO FALCONS....

Good Luck to all the teams!!!

Azusa??? Still can't place it,but they have a football team you say? Nope, still doesn't ring a bell. Never heard of 'em. Ha! Football team at Azusa says you.Ha! You're a riot. Now get off this board this is for serious football talk.

Im not going to say ER is going to beat West Covina, but its going to be a war, I havent been this excited for an ER opener in a long time.

Look for El Rancho to suprise many teams this season.Great size in their athletes since the 2000 season.New coaching staff and new attitude.El Rancho 27 West Covina 21.They'll pull it off in the last quarter.

Azusa will go down on Thursday!!!!

Ganesha wins its opener. I believe that they'll end up with a 5-5 record.

Go Giants!

Has anyone taken a look at the top 25 teams as ranked by the L.A. Times?... Amat is going to have a brutal schedule.

Let's go Warriors!!!

Azusa at Ganesha: Nothing like starting the season against an 0-10 team or two, Azusa + 10

Covina vs. Bonita: Experiments to clone Mike McDonough still unsuccessful, Bonita +17

Bishop Amat at Los Osos: Bears have too much O, Los Osos +14

Los Altos at San Dimas: Big O line plus big, fast, N & S back = Saints +10

Muir vs. Diamond Ranch: DR is for real on both sides of the ball, Diamond Ranch +21

Charter Oak at Aliso Niguel: Limbering up the Charger D, Charter Oak +14

Rancho Cucamonga at Damien: Nice new field for Spartans not enough, Cougars +7

El Rancho at West Covina: Del Rio will be tougher than expected but not tough enough, West Covina + 7

Ayala at Duarte: Talk is cheap, Ayala +21

Western Christian vs. Gladstone: Just play a game of touch and have a BBQ, Christians over the Gladiators +10

Gabrielino at La Puente: Why do LP and Azusa schedule these games?, La Puente + 17

Workman at Mountain View: MV, + 21

Bassett at Buena Park: BP, + 14

Glenn at Sierra Vista: SV, + 10

Oops! Meant to say Chargers by 21 over Aliso N. 27 over the top.

Saints will roll! Charter Oak the best of the rest.

Covina / Bonita (BONITA)
Amat / Los Osos (AMAT)
Los Altos / San Dimas (SD)
Muir / DRANCH (DRANCH)
CO / Aliso N (CO)
Cucamonga / Damien (Damien)
El Rancho / WC (WC)
Ayala / Duarte (Ayala)
West. Christ. / Gladstone (Gladstone0

Muir Mustangs over DRanch... but I agree, playoff potential right here.

WOW, do you guys know something we don,t? Charter Oak / Aliso N A tossup. CO buy 27 as far as I can see. Hope you didnt jinx us.

The ranch is comin, you ready????

Fred,

I guess your trip to LA had you second guessing yourself?

The fuzzy feeling in your stomach might be of the anchovies you had on your Pizza last year OR maybe the thought of eating them again.

Go with your Gut feeling!

There is still time to change your mind.

GO CONQS!!!!
